It's a podcast, Come twenty five wists stuck in punt
ball and they are a whizz. So yeah, it's too bad,
But what don't you expect.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's a podcast, Come twenty five.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Whistles, twenty line welcome blow it now. We could spend
the first ten minutes talking all about shur Sanders, but
I feel like, if you're coming to us, you don't
really care about that. In the same way, if you
did care, you'd probably listen to somebody who knows more
about what they're talking about. All right, I mean, if
you want to go here, why fell? There's one hundred
(01:41):
sports shows.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Oh we don't know. I don't know why he felt?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Do you know? Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Okay, I can talk for a second if you'd like.
I have theories, but I think my theories are also
based in listening to like people that have knowledge of it.
So it's the only draft I've watched, number one all
seventh round. I texted you I never I will watch
round one, the first ten picks, and then just check
it on my phone.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
YEP.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
I watched round one entire and we were on here
going I bet Shuder gets picked second in the second round,
number one pick to the Browns didn't, so I'm like, well,
let's just see where he goes. Second round, third, round nine, two,
just second and third rounds, I believe, not fourth, right,
just second, third. So I watch all the way through
and there's no shitter, and that's the that's why anybody's
watching it this point bizarre. And so it comes on
(02:30):
at noon, maybe eleven, maybe noon Eastern.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
I think it was noon yea in our times.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
So I'm on and I'm watching. There we go round four, nothing,
so I'm in, and then Sharia gets picked in round five,
and I'm still just kind of waiting for yours from
Texas because he still hasn't been picked. You watched all
the way to the end. I've never done it before.
I watched every pick.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
I kind of forgot about yours.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
I take this back. I watched every pick until yours
to the Dolphins in round seven, and then I turned
it off, but I watched just finished it at that point,
you were right there. I was over and I had
to Arkansas's soft fall.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
On okay, the same time Duel TVs.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
No.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I had it on my because I don't want to
get up, So I was watching in BEV and have
my phone up on the softball game, and then I
just turned it off the big screen slur Sanders. Two
things cannot be true, but the internet. You only see
the things on the Internet that people are clicking and
caring about. Your algorithms will bring it to you. Number one,
it wasn't a racial thing. After he didn't get picked
in round one, it started to be like, oh, they're
holding the black man down. A couple of things. One
(03:28):
pick one was a black man, and then out of
the top five, three weren't white because you had Jayln Milroe,
you had Dylan Gabriel. The other two white guys Jackson
Dart and Shuck and cam Ward. So it just wasn't.
But that was the narrative that he's black balled. It's
got to be a racial thing as well. It wasn't.
(03:50):
The other thing was the other side was yelling he sucks,
he should fall. He also doesn't suck. So but those
were the two things that were coming front and center.
Because the Internet does, they're gonna surve things that are
getting a lot of interaction, so that's what you would see.
There really wasn't anyone going. I'd like to say that
(04:10):
he probably was a little overvalued, was probably getting a
little bump because of who his dad was. Definitely wasn't
a first round maybe like a mid second, early third,
but definitely doesn't. The sensibility never wins when it comes
to the Internet, never because the algorithms don't put sensibility forward. Yeah,
so he probably was about a late second round pick.
(04:36):
But at that point, if you pick somebody that early,
they're probably going to have an opportunity to play somewhat
early in the first couple rounds. I don't think that
the teams that needed a quarterback wanted a quarterback to
come in and play early, so why would they waste
(04:58):
a second round pick on them. Even the Browns they
made their first pick. It was Dylan Gabriel in round three,
So it was what teams needed a quarterback versus what
teams needed a quarterback to play right away. Pittsburgh was
in the mix the whole time, But they're gonna have
Aaron Rodgers. And also you started to hear and I
heard from a couple people that I talked to that
not on television, that I literally texted, And then this
(05:19):
started to come out as well that a lot of
the interviews that he went into should he didn't want
to go play there because he was like, I don't
want to play here, so I can read you some stuff.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Really yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
One of them was like he went in once and
was like, answered to FaceTime call in the middle of
the interview.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
So it was but is that lack of knowledge of
how to do an interview or just like, really, I
don't want to be here.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
So yes, he has the pedigree to understand everything about
playing collegiate and NFL.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
No, yeah, yeah, dad knows what's up.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
So and then it became such a story. It became
t bow esque, meaning whomever got them, even if it
was going to be the eight string quarterback, that's all
people were going to talk about. And so it had
to be an organization that was willing to deal with
that because now you're going to draft a backup quarterback,
(06:13):
but the backup quarterback is going to bring in all
this attention and so you better have a starting quarterback
that it's not going to phase. But then if you're
the Chiefs, you already got a back. All the teams
that have a Tier eight quarterbacks they don't need, they
don't they don't need even need a backup. I thought
it might be Seattle for a second, because Seattle made
(06:36):
a move, you know, Seattle got they went to Minnesota
and got Sam Darnold. But then Seattle ended up drafting
from Alabama Jaylen Millery and so that was before so.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
So they're covered.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
So the quarterbacks, the teams that needed a backup quarterback
got theirs, and the Browns were just like fifth around,
like what do we have to lose? I guess if
we can get through the Deshaun Watson and stuff the
worst of the worst, and they keep acting like Deshaun
Watson is going to be in the quarterback room, the
dude's never playing for Cleveland again. First of all, Torn Achilles,
by the way, shout out Dame Lillard towards Achilles. Last night.
(07:11):
Done that sucks. Sucked. Yesterday the sidebar one of the
greatest first round NBA Playoff days I've ever seen. Just
the day, the day yesterday, the day before but the
Lakers losing. That was stupid because Luca got tripped. I
was watching that Luke got tripped. That was stupid. Although
reached into fould on, did you guys watch this game
a little bit?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I mean it was I was at the airport and
I kind of see it at the bar from a distance.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
And then he also missed a shot. But Luca got
tripped for sure. The Denver and Clipper series is one
of the greatest prest round series.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
Saturday, that game was nuts. That was the first game
I've watched outside of the Celtics from beginning to end.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
And now you know, they couldn't tell if Gordon pulled
his fingers off the ball in time, and so it
was one of those where they couldn't reverse it because
they called it on. But they finally found an over
the top view. His finger is off the ball, it is.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
They finally found a cam run from over which they
didn't have because they literally called it because it was
so close they couldn't reverse it, which is the general rule.
But he also was fouled going out. They didn't call
the foul, but his finger was off the ball. They
have like a camera coming straight down.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Oh, I didn't see that one.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I didn't see it like an at some point, but like, hey, guys,
we do have another camera looking up down, looking down
from the top.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Why, guys, guys, what do you.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Want to me?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Do you think Jokic air balled it or threw it
up because it looked like he was shooting.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
Yeah, I think he airballed it only because his reaction.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
He was pissed.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
He looked pissed after the game. They just won, and
I think he's mad because he's like, did I really
just air ball?
Speaker 1 (08:38):
And they may have said that. I don't watch any
of the post game. It was awesome. Yeah, that was
the craziest buzzer beater I've ever seen. There was another
buzzer beater dunk I've seen, which was the Suns when
DeAndre Ayden with like two seconds left, dunked it. Game
was over in a playoff game. That was cool because
it was an inbound a couple of years ago. But
this was this is This was awesome And then freaking
(08:58):
the dead Nick. I watched a lot of basketball. See
that freaking Knicks win by one. Karl Anthony Towns yeah,
and Tim Hardaway Junior. Yeah, right for the Pistons. Yes, yeah,
so a good game basketball.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Anyway, Celtics. Nothing about Celtics. Did you watch that one?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
No? I just expect them to win. I think Orlando
is going to be good in the future. But Orlando's
kind of like Detroit where they're just getting a little
taste right now. They play hard, and they're good enough
to play in the playoffs and get a little taste
because they'll be back. Some teams you don't want to
because you'd rather than lose and have a better pick. Yeah,
but I do think there is something to these teams
that can play a little bit and get I think
(09:37):
this is gonna be great for Detroit, for these guys
to get in. They're mixing it up with the Knicks.
It's a difficult series. I think this is gonna be
Greatkay Cunningham's awesome. First time I've really watched them on
national television. I'll flip through and do NBA Sunday ticket
I'll watch him sometimes. Yeah, but then he's awesome. This
is a brunts And by the way, it's so freaking good.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Amazing.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
The fact that I would say, the fact that Dallas
got rid like told him that he could go on
as mary Way well Dallas and kind of makes some money.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Now it all makes sense.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
So what about the Thunder though elite he called it.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
But they did play game four and Jaw was out
and Scotty Pitt a junior quarter with thirty points. He
played his played his brains out. But yeah, they did
win four in a row.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
What's up? I am just saying we're on pace, man,
We're on pace.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
I love it. I also but I think the Thunder
are gonna I know they're going to The Thunder will
play the winner of the Denver and the Clips, and
that's they're gonna be so tired.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, I know they're gonna be exhausted and the Thunder
we've just been chilling. I got a thong on the line, dude.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
It's weird.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
That's true. That's true. So the shitter thing everybody's talked about,
I think it ended up being he wasn't regarded by
the NFL as high as we were led to believe
by the media. Secondly, he got to a point where
you're not going to draft him that early if you're
not going to play him, so we'll let him fall.
And he got so there's like a purgatory where he
(11:00):
wasn't worth the pick, but then he got so low
that he was just a value pick.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Just sitting there.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Man, it's crazy what the Browns are doing. So they
have they have five quarterbacks, but I don't think they
should when they do the picture, they shouldn't put Watson
up there. He's not playing right. But it's Flacco who
was on the show Friday. Check it out. It's Kenny
Pickett who is talking about he came to start? Can
he Pickt's like, I'm here to start, So we'll see.
Remember he was a first round draft pick from Pittsburgh
to Pittsburgh. He played at Pittsburgh a little didn't play
(11:29):
at Pittsburgh, then played it. Yes, they played in Pittsburgh.
He had little hands, but so Will Campbell a little arms,
and he's like my favorite from the draft here. Yeah,
I gotta tell you that it's not an offensive line pick.
It's not sexy. But I also didn't put two and
two together. That Will Campbell was the guy talking about Amazon,
and that Clipton went viral like weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
So good.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Yeah, Like I love that dude, Yeah I draft him.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
What do you say about Amazon?
Speaker 4 (11:51):
He said?
Speaker 1 (11:51):
If you're a defensive lineman and you give up at
or if you're an offense. If you're a defensive lineman
you get a sack of game, you're you're going to
the league. If you're an offensive lineman, you give up
a sack of game, you're gonna work at Amazon.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
That is funny. Yeah, and I remember disrespect to Amazon,
by the way, just telling you we're not gonna be
in the league.
Speaker 6 (12:10):
I heard that, uh Rabel worked him out when he
visited and went one on one with him, full pads
and everything, and he Rabel down.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I thought that was a joke. No, you're saying, Brabel. Yeah,
I saw that that Brabel put pads on, but I
thought they were kidding. No, he knocked him down, and
Rabel was like, I love this guy. Is there a
video of this or is it just no?
Speaker 4 (12:29):
No?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
What's his name?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Son?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Wasn't there to film it?
Speaker 4 (12:31):
You know?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Sid Hey, So I'm meant, let me talk about that jokes.
The prank call. Uh yeah, I get it like funny.
But so here's the thing about the prank call. People
are acting like they were calling Shed because he was
on an organ donor lest waiting for a kidney right,
they're like, I feel so bad for him, It's what
(12:53):
a disaster. That mean spirited, yes, a little bit, but
they're idiot kids. But also they're acting like he's there
waiting for a heart transplant and they're flying in the
heart in a chopper and they're letting him know that
it landed and that he's gonna live. Yeah, And someone
calls like, we got your heart, and he's like, yes,
Joe's kidding. No, it's that he didn't get drafted by
the NFL. You're already super famous, a multimily. You know
(13:15):
you're gonna get put on a team at some point.
It wasn't as mean as everybody's acting like. And what
prank call is supposed to be wholesome?
Speaker 3 (13:24):
None?
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Yeah, none.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
It's always mean spirited. But at the same time, though
it is a big moment. I know Shador's rich. I
know he comes from a family with lots of money
and opportunity, but like, this is a big deal for him.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
But if you're that cocky in that loud and that brash,
I think other people are going to also try to
be that cocky, that loud and that brash back towards you.
It's just part of the game. I wouldn't have done it.
It was a bit mean spirited, funny though I don't
even know that I felt it was funny.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
But did you not laugh when you first saw it?
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I just know I did it. I did it, but
I didn't think it was like this natural, this earthquake
tsunami that killed five hundred people, like they were acting like,
of course not. Yeah, Voltaire said, I may not agree
with you, but I will fight to the death for
your right to say it. I feel this way about
this call.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Now.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
It just turns out it was an idiot kid whose
dad is on the Falcons is a coordinator. Don't be
in the video dude making the call. He's sitting in
the background. I know he got the from the dad's iPad.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
With They're like, dude, you'll never believe what I have.
You have the number, we got to do this, and
then they post it.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
It is not a big adeal. It's everybody's making it
out to be.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
But even like you know, Shador releasing the video their
side of the video, and and just kind of like
the way everyone handled it, it's kind of everyone's okay
with it. I don't think anyone media now the.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Media is acting like it's the meanest thing ever in
the history of mean things.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Well, I think people are just watching it and saying like,
that's that's mean.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
But how about answering facetimes and meetings that that created
the environment to where that could even happen where you're
sitting their way. It doesn't matter. Kit shouldn't have done it.
But I'm never going to come down on a prank caller,
even if I felt like it was kind of mean.
I've done a lot of print calls on my day. Yeah,
and nobody got hurt from it. No, nobody got hurt
(15:12):
from it.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
And according to Shador, it didn't hurt his feelings he's
used to it.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Are just like they act like they killed somebody's puppy.
It's so wrong. It's so mean. Again, if it had
been something like, I know you're waiting for this money
to come through so you can pay for your child surgery.
Just kidding, haha, that's mean because it actually is affecting
their life. This isn't Everybody needs to just chill out.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
I mean, Shudor could have worked at Amazon. Gotta.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I want to give you a couple of things here.
I just saved some images from different tweets I saw
from over the draft, and I wanted to go through them.
I have like six of them, one by one. Number
one from David Kohen Quinn ures was a perfect one
thousand recruit learned under Steve Sarkisiana made two college football playoffs.
Still undrafted. Will Howard is the reigning national champion who
(16:02):
threw for four thousand yards on seventy three percent passing.
Still undrafted. This is during the draft. Kyle McCord led
the nation four seven hundred and seventy nine yards, still undrafted.
Dylan Gabriel through for eighteen thousand, seven hundred and twenty
two yards in college and got drafted ninety fourth. The
NFL isn't engaged in a conspiracy against Shuldar Sanders. You
just like watching his dad play now. This is in
(16:22):
response to Stephen A. Smith saying this feels like Kaepernick
level collusion.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
And they were like, how can you throw for this
many yards? And they just but they listed everybody who
out threw him and they were like, well, I haven't
been drafted either.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Yeah. That race stuff's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Rick new Heiseel, Well, in this instance, it is That's
what I'm talking about. I want you to get chopped
up now, I want you to get chopped quoted that
yeah yeah, clear producer ready quote racism, racism, Rick Neuheisel
and lightened listeners on Sirius XM's Full Ride show on
the College Sports Radio Channel this morning. This is from
Hobby and Morales that an NFL coach here you go
(16:59):
told him should took a personal call and possibly a
FaceTime during an interview with an NFL coach. Instead of
ending the FaceTime call, he stayed on it during the interview.
What's balls should He has yet to be selected through
the first two rounds. The next one from BEDMGM.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
And so.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
First they quoted Chip Brown for Austin who does horn horn?
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, longhorn something.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
One of those message boards Chip Brown twenty four to
seven said bleed orange bleed bloods orange bloods maybe yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
So.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
An older tweet was Texas long horned quarterback quin you
Weres turned down an eight million dollars anile offer to
transfer and then decided to declare for the twenty twenty
five draft. BEDMGM rights, Quinn Youres turned on eight million
in ail. Now he'll make four million over four years
as a seventh round pick. It's four million over four
years is one million year. It's four hundred fifty thousand dollars. Well,
(17:53):
Florida has a good tax, good tax, so half a
million bucks. But you're talking about eight million one year
for one year. Yeah, versus five one million for one year. Yeah,
so it's not four million even versus eight million. It's
one million versus eight million.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Yeah, that's a big cut. And what do you mean
by Florida taxes? Like, what do you mean by that?
Speaker 1 (18:11):
No income tax in Tennessee Florida.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
State income tax? Yeah, okay, got you.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Yeah, Tennessee, Florida. There's a few of those states. Another
one because mel Kiper junior, he was off his rocker
a little bit when he was talking. First of all,
the whole draft starts and he's like, my number one
is Shooter Sanders. But then he kept not getting picked,
and then when he did, he was just he was
so mad. He was just ranning about it. Would you tell?
(18:39):
It was personal to him? And mel Kuiper goes for
fifty years, the NFL had no idea how to valuate quarterbacks,
and so Andrew Philippini said here, and it was Mel Kuiper,
and it was him ranking Forrest Lamp at number eighteen
over Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
That's funny, digging some good stuff.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
So he's like the NFL doesn't. But he also has
struggled with his which everybody does. Let me see if
there's any other ones here.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
Part of the whole process.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, yes, I agree, but he was it was very
personal to him. And also I like Deon Sanders, He's awesome.
I was hoping she'd ever got drafted, but then it
just started to like a car record, just watching to
see what happens.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
I know.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Okay, did you.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Feel bad for him a little bit though as he
was dropping or no?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
Because I felt like whatever was happening was probably due
to his actions, and sometimes that learning lesson is way
better in the long run than if you don't pay
it now, eventually you'll have to pay it. I think
it's cheaper to pay it now than in the future.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
So I did not feel bad for him. That's good
and knocked that off. Lawrence Taylor won't unretire his number,
which is hilarious, and nor do I think people should
have to unretire. But quick question who the Giants draft.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
The Giants drafted Scataboo.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
No, yes, yes, yes, Kevin Abduel Carter correct, and Abdul
Carter was like, hey, I'll work fifty six with the Giants,
and Lawrence Taylor was like, no, go to zero or something.
Make your own name that. I think if he wants
to have wear fifty six, I think Lawrence Taylor should
be cool. And if he's like dominant, dominant in two years,
you go, hey, listen, if you want to wear it,
(20:18):
earn it. I'll let you wear in two years if
you're killing it, because then you can continue the legacy. Yeah,
but I agree with him not doing it right now.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Too many guys are like, yeah, I'll give it up.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
What's the point of retiring a number exactly is gone?
That number's gone.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Yeah, numbers gone.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
Celtics can't really get any new numbers these days. Yeah,
they have so many retire everybody's retired.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
They triple digits. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
I saw when the Browns ended up drafting because they
drafted Mason gram Yeah, Mason GRAMMYT three from Michigan and
he goes in afterward and then have the cameras on
him when they're finding out what number he wants, and
he goes, can I get some number? He's like, nah,
somebody has it, and he goes, oh, man, can I
you know what the deal? Can I like pay him?
He's like, we can ask, and so he ends up
(21:04):
being asking for like ninety five because I think Miles
Garrett's ninety four.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
No, Miles is ninety five, okay, so whatever the one
is is the other one?
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah, So he goes, then I'll take ninety four for now,
and he's gonna try to buy the other one from
the other player, And it was just fun to watch
like how that happens because they had the cameras on
him when he went in and the guy was like,
you can have fifty through sixty or any of the
nineties numbers, and he goes about My body goes nope, taken,
you can buy it. If he'll let you, we can
call him, and if not, we can't make your jerseys
even to sell until we have for sure your number.
(21:35):
So he goes, my backup number will be ninety four
if okay whatever, Miles Garrett was the one next to him, gotcha.
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
So when he buys it, buys it from who the player,
so the player gets the money for it.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
It was like Jimmy class And wanted to charge Cam
Doon a million bucks back in the day for the number.
Oh you never saw a story.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
I know that number one.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Yeah, camp still pissed about it, huh, because it's like
you Jimmy classon.
Speaker 6 (21:55):
And you better hope that. I mean, what if it's
like a player that might not even make the team
this year. What if you're like, hey, come on, that
I don't.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Think is a deal. If it's a vet, it's But
also if they may not make the team, they'll take
away less money too, because they need the money. True,
they'll take fifty thousand dollars or somebody for real won't.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Yeah, so the jersey they give them in the draft,
you know, like the commission, that's not their number.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
No, because everybody's like number one.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
I think they're all one. Yeah, I think so it
makes sense.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
I do want to do two other quick clips. The
Bill Belichick interview was really weird because they're interviewing them
on CBS and now they say that his girlfriend Jordan,
who's like twenty four, interrupted interview multiple times because she's
like running his pr But they asked the question and
she jumped in and they put this in the interview.
Would you play it please?
Speaker 5 (22:41):
You have Jordan right over there.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Everybody in the world.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Seems to be following this relationship.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
They've got an opinion about your private life. It's got
nothing to do with them, but they're invested in it.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
How do you deal with that?
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Never been too worried about what everybody else thinks, Just
to try to do what I feel like is that's
for me and what's right?
Speaker 4 (22:59):
How did you guys meet?
Speaker 8 (23:00):
Not talking about this?
Speaker 1 (23:02):
No, No, it's a topic neither one of them is
comfortable commenting on. And she's back in the back, she's
not a camera. It's starting to feel like that story
about how they met on a plane ain't true.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Uh huh.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
She shut that down real quick.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
It's starting to feel like they probably met somewhere where
older men can meet younger women.
Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah, he's your imagination.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
I don't know that that's true or not, but it
feels like that.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
But if you're gonna have a story like the plane,
might as well just stick to it, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
And then talk about it when they ask, and just
give an answer and then move off. That's a good
point because that makes this so much bigger. Right, I'll
give you one more clip. This catcher puts his glove
back to take the ball after like a foul ball.
Puts the glove back, and the umpire takes the ball
and it's gonna drop it in the catcher's glove because
(23:48):
it's just like, all right, put your glove back. The
ketcher doesn't see the umpire. He doesn't think to put
he's putting his the ball on his glove, So the
ketcher puts his glove down, puts the glove and drops it.
Looks like the ketcher pulls his glove out from the
empire to show him up. He didn't catch it, did
see up? Throws him out immediately? Whoa crazy ump was
a total d bag? Here go ahead real quick.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
Did Mike tell you this is from twenty twenty three? Nope,
got tricked? Yepkay hit it.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
That's TikTok though, yeah, hit it anyway.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
I have another one after this.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
I'm go ahead, okay.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Kember says, I don't like that, Colin. Now here's the
action right here. The umpire felt like grim Milter took
his Bruma out of the way, and I think he
ran Altar didn't sense that the ball was on his way,
so he just figured the umpire was throwing it back
to the mound.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Now, on the prior exchange, the umpire threw it out
to Kimber, so all right.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
You don't feel the ball get wrestled into your glove.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
So he wasn't even looking back at the umpire.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
He just pulled his glove.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Down crazy and J Nos. Twenty twenty three. But the
reason I pulled that clip was because lsu hits a
home run to win the game. College game, like I
don't know it's a Grand Slam, but wins the game
and the guy staring at of the Empire gets on
him at the end of the game. It's like you
need to run and he's like, I'm looking at it
in the ups like you need to run. It's crazy,
like ump chill out. Yeah, yeah, gonna do that. Ump
(25:00):
chill out. Okay, that's it. We're coming back. Diana Rossini

Speaker 1 (26:36):
A senior NFL insider for The Athletic Diana Rossini. Dina
worked at ESPN for almost a decade, went over to
The Athletic a few years ago. She was on top
of all the shitter sanders and sliding in the draft
and showed an article about the prank call. Big fan
of hers, You can follow her on social dm Rassini
to keep up with her and check out her work,
and we'll tell you about our podcast in just a minute.
Here she is Diana Rossini. Hey Diana, First of all,
(26:58):
I'm a big fan. It's weird how you can become
a fan of somebody just by watching TikTok clips, but
like when you do appearances or even like on the
part of my take, like, I've become a big fan
of not only your writing but also like you as
a personality. So super cool to come on. So thank
you very much.
Speaker 9 (27:13):
Same we've never met, I know of you, I've listened
to you, oh oh way everywhere.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
I've hear of you everywhere.
Speaker 9 (27:22):
So I am so glad that that we're able to connect,
and thank you so much for the kind words about
all the ridiculousness that I've compiled over the.
Speaker 8 (27:32):
Last ten to fifteen years of being in sports media.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Well, I do want to start with I think this
is the only draft where I think I watched all
the way until the Dolphins picked in round seven, because
the shar stuff kept me to five once he was picked,
and then I stayed all the way until like the
final quarterback that we thought was going to go early,
or at least earlier than round seven, was taken off
(27:55):
the board. This possibly could have been the highest rated
draft ever. Right, there was so much interest, even the
light rounds.
Speaker 9 (28:01):
Yeah, look, headed into this, everyone around the league was saying,
to me, this is the dullest draft.
Speaker 8 (28:09):
There's not a lot of talent.
Speaker 9 (28:10):
There's no big names, especially because we were comparing it
to last year, where we had six quarterbacks go in
the top twelve picks.
Speaker 8 (28:17):
It was incredible.
Speaker 9 (28:19):
And I mean we were debating last year who the
best quarterbacks were, and I was getting a range of
different answers, and it just had.
Speaker 8 (28:27):
So much juice last year and then whila, this year
turns out to be just as exciting.
Speaker 9 (28:32):
And look, a lot of it had to do with
the fact that Shador Sanders was essentially plummeting when there
was an expectation that he would land somewhere at least
there were some people saying that they thought he would
land in the first round, some that said the second,
some said he would slide to the bottom of the second.
I don't think anyone was predicting the slide that it
(28:54):
turned out to be, And I think that kept the
attention because everyone wanted to know who was going to
take Shador, would he even get drafted. So I think
that narrative there certainly helped the attention spans because at
the end of the day, I know it's football, but
it's a TV show and this pretty much came together
(29:14):
perfectly for the league.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I have a bias so and I know coach Prime
and we've worked together a bunch, so I love him,
and so I up front I have a big bias.
But after should didn't get picked in round one and
then round two, it almost was if you couldn't pick
him for a minute because you have to draft a
backup quarterback, right, I mean did don't you think there
(29:36):
was that purgatory ground where it just would have been
weird to take him on like round three or four.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
I believe that I look.
Speaker 9 (29:43):
At it the same way, and even just having some
conversations this morning with some teams that were poking around
on it, and they were unsure and even look at Cleveland, right,
I mean they they don't even take him as the.
Speaker 8 (29:56):
First quarterback that they pick.
Speaker 9 (29:58):
They wait, and I can they tell you, Bobby, they
didn't have Shador High on their quarterback board headed into this,
So it's not like this was the plan the whole time.
I think he's at five they meet they have conversations
and they go, we got to take a shot here,
like he can play, like in terms of what he
was doing on the football field, the talent is there.
(30:19):
I just think some of the something happened between the
end of his season and the start of this draft.
And when you take a look at that time of year,
that's usually when you're meeting the player. That's usually when
you're getting to know him more and you're and you're
having those visits. And I had one GM say to me,
I think shador made the mistake of approaching these visits
(30:41):
as a recruiting trip versus a job interview. And there's
a difference, and especially in the NFL, when gms and
head coaches and personnel people want to hear that you
are hungry to learn that you've done the work, that
you did the homework that you were asked to do
before the meeting, and you were prepared. And I'm curious
(31:04):
and I'm working on it now to find out how
much of that fell through, you know, fell through the
cracks here and changed the overall thought and opinion of.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
Who Shadora is.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Quinn you weres went to the Dolphins in round seven.
I thought he would go higher than seven. I think
he did too, because he could have transferred and made
you know, millions of dollars in the portal. Do you
think he regrets that now? Or if you get drafted
for and beyond, it's not like a big guaranteed contract anyway.
Do you think he just wanted to get his NFL
career started, much like these NBA kids will do, just
so they can hopefully get to that second contract.
Speaker 9 (31:34):
Yeah, and that's the that's always the intent there. Look,
I think this the world of the NIL it is.
It's the wild West right now. One of the one
of the questions I like to ask agents is how
are they learning about it? Because I'm learning about anyone
that covers football right now. We're this is, this is
(31:56):
new and the agents are even learning on the fly
of how they can profit the most and help their
clients and even coaches, and just that the entire college
world has changed. So look, at the end of the day,
most of these players, I understand they want to make
a lot of money, but most of them have the
dreams of playing in the NFL. At the end of
(32:16):
the day, That's what it's about. That's why they're playing
the game, so I don't fault him. He will find
a way to make money. I mean, maybe we'll revisit
this conversation five years and be like, well, you should
have stayed in college.
Speaker 8 (32:29):
But for now, I understand his decision making, and how
do you not hope for the best.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
For the kid.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Somebody that I came away from the draft liking more
and then I think maybe my algorithm just fed him
to me was Will Campbell, but leading up to it,
it was also Will Campbell has little arms, but that's
not talked about it at all now. But his clips
are so funny and I totally see now why a
guy who used to live here when he coached the
Titans Vveryabele, would draft a guy like that to go
(32:55):
to New England.
Speaker 9 (32:57):
Do you think Mike Rabel heard Will Campbell say I
would die from my quarterback and had.
Speaker 8 (33:01):
Any thought in his mind that he made a mistake.
Speaker 9 (33:04):
That is a Mic Rabel player through and through, and
granted he plays a position that's not exactly exciting and electric,
but it's a need. I had someone say to me once,
so you got to eat your vegetables sometimes when you're
building these teams and the New England Patriots are eating
their vegetables in terms of this draft and filling in
the holes and the spots that they need. And look
(33:24):
from Rabel's perspective too, because as you know is someone
that watched the Titans as much as you did, it
was very clear who they were, right. You never wondered
who are the Tennessee Titans. They were one thousand percent
their head coach's personality. They were tough, they were relentless,
and New England is learning right now how to be that.
He is trying to establish it, and so it makes
(33:47):
a lot of sense to bring in a player. And
so as soon as I saw Will Cavell's response to
being picked, and he said that, I'm like, well, they
obviously knew that this is what this kid was all about.
Because in order for them to figure out their identity
is a team, you've got to get these You gotta
get the right guys in the locker room. And Will
Campbell just made he would just make so much sense
and a pretty sharp suit too.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Were you surprised the Cowboys did nothing? Splashy?
Speaker 9 (34:11):
I thought that they were going to trade with the
Pittsburgh Steelers for George Pickens I thought that would pick
up speed because there were some conversations that were going down.
I know that the Steelers were making calls, they were
talking to different teams, teams are calling them, and I
thought that that would be the splashy thing that Jerry did,
because remember a week ago he said he was doing
(34:32):
something splashy. I don't think he used the word splashy.
He's a different word, but it was like, hey, like,
chill everyone, I'm going to do this. And I always
give Jerry Jones tons of leeway for the draft because
they're phenomenal drafting players.
Speaker 8 (34:47):
That is what they do well. Contracts they don't do
well in my opinion.
Speaker 9 (34:51):
I mean, I don't understand the philosophy of how they
do it. I still can't figure out, after all these
years of covering them, of why they wait so long
to pay their players. But I usually allow the Cowboys
to do what they need to do this time of
year because they're so good at it.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
But I didn't come away from this draft going this
made sense. I see why they did it.
Speaker 9 (35:13):
I thought we were gonna get some rock star player
on offense for them, and we just didn't walk.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Away with that. We'll talk about Ben Johnson with the
Bears for a second, because obviously he brings in a
whole new offense and hopefully he's able to make Kayleb
Williams what we'd think Caleb Williams is. But he drafted
a tied in the wide receiver. It seems like they're
gonna go pretty offense. Like is that the plan? Like
load up the offense and just let the defense figure
it out.
Speaker 9 (35:35):
Bobby, this is called I am the new head coach
of this team, n Ben Johnson, and I want to
be able to open my playbook and do whatever the
heck I want to do.
Speaker 8 (35:43):
That's what this is, right.
Speaker 9 (35:45):
So he did a really good job in free agency
of building up the trenches, giving him that offensive line,
knowing that Caleb has taking a lot of hits last year,
needs more time, and the next step is to give
him those weapons. And that's what That's why I would
put Chicago up there with some of my favorite moves
from the weekend, because they know they've got the guy
(36:06):
they can. They just need to find ways to bring
the best out of him. So to go offense makes
all the sense of the world, and you have a
phenomenal play caller in Ben Johnson. So if you continue
to give him all these tools, he's just going to
continue to cook up all the stuff that we saw
him do in Detroit. So it's smart football, don't get cute,
(36:28):
don't overthink it. And that's how I think Chicago is
really running things these days.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
There was a show called Kids Do the Darnedest Things
back in the day and a couple of different hosts.
I mean Bill Cosby was one host that was weird,
but you know, and they have kids on they say
funny things. I kind of felt that way watching the
Jaguars General manager talk and you know, he was talking
about you know, you know, FM pics, and he did
trade up and gave away a first round pick next
you to get Travis Hunter. Did you feel Travis Hunter
(36:53):
was worth that?
Speaker 7 (36:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (36:55):
I was surprised Cleveland moved off it. First of all.
Speaker 9 (36:58):
I really thought that Cleveland wanted wanted to stick. I
know that that deal was in place for over two weeks.
My colleague Mike Silver, he's probably one of the best
sports writers on planet Earth.
Speaker 8 (37:12):
He was in the war room with the Jacks.
Speaker 9 (37:14):
Uh So his article is going to come out on
the Athletic uh in a couple of days here, and
I spoke to him over the phone yesterday just about
everything he witnessed, and he's like, look like they want
to make a bold move.
Speaker 8 (37:27):
They wanted to do that.
Speaker 9 (37:28):
It's why they It's why they made this decision to
give up what they did, because it is very apparent,
it is very clear based on the contract and even
just the way they support Trevor Lawrence that they want
this to work. And you're bringing a guy like Liam Cohene,
you pay him the kind of money you're paying him
for our first year head coach. It's because you are
(37:49):
putting all your chips in here that this has to work.
So much like Chicago, they're basically just giving Trevor the
things that he needs and you're not going to lose
when you're invested in a player, you know, like Hunter
who's going to play both sides of the ball here.
Speaker 8 (38:08):
That's what the Jacks told him.
Speaker 9 (38:09):
Now, look he's he's better at receiver from what I
can gather from what people.
Speaker 8 (38:13):
Have told me around the league.
Speaker 9 (38:14):
So this is a guy who's going to be out
there for one hundred snaps a game at least to
be part of this. So yeah, the question of is
he worth it looks we don't know. That's the beauty
of the draft is like we think. But I know
Cleveland feels good. They made the right decision for the
price that they got back.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
I have two final questions. One, if you're going to
make a prank call and you have a number that
you shouldn't have, should you not be on video?
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Like that's what I was.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Thinking, we'll watch because he's sitting in the background of
the video. Or they're making the prank call and you
wrote an article on it yesterday, like, don't be in
the video. First of all, don't do prank call whatever,
but kids do stupid stuff, but don't be in the video.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
That was what was blew me away, I know.
Speaker 8 (38:57):
But the whole thing.
Speaker 9 (38:59):
I cover Jeff when he was with the New York Jets,
and he's really well liked in the league by the way,
just he's just one of those good overall people, and
he's got some family dynamics that some stuff that they've
got going on personally, and I can tell you just
from talking to people close to him yesterday, they were
(39:19):
pretty crushed that their son did that because it was
mean spirited and It's one thing to make a bad
decision and not know it, or maybe not have those intentions,
or maybe just not looking at it the right way.
But they knew exactly what they were doing, uh, And
that's the mistakes. The mistake was made, it was caught
(39:41):
on video, they admitted, they came out, they apologize, and
now you just hope over the next few days that
he can survive emotionally and mentally, just the kickback he's
getting right, because, Bobby, have you ever been in the
center of something on social media? I have, unfortunately so
many times, and it's like a freaking title wave, and
you feel like the whole world hates you, and your
(40:03):
head can go into some bad places. So I'm hoping
for him because he's so young and he doesn't get that, yes,
this was a mistake and this was bad, but it'll.
Speaker 8 (40:11):
Pass and he's gonna be way more than just this.
Speaker 9 (40:14):
But I give credit for Shador to Shador for taking
the call and accepting that apology it appears. But yeah,
I think, just like in anything in twenty twenty five,
phones have changed at all.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Right.
Speaker 8 (40:28):
They remember when we were younger, could you imagine the
stuff we did was on video?
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Oh yeah, I just wouldn't have been in the video.
I'd have done it, but I wouldn't have been in
the video. But yeah, yeah, I don't know if I
would have done it.
Speaker 8 (40:38):
I man, I'm a lot, Bobby, you don't know me
that way. I am a lot of things that could
be a pain.
Speaker 9 (40:43):
I'm tough, I'm relentless, I'm exhausting to be around, but
I'm not mean.
Speaker 8 (40:47):
And that was mean to just play games like that.
Speaker 9 (40:50):
And look, they're gonna look back on that one day,
and I'm sure they're gonna regret that, if they haven't already.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Final question for you, do you ever hop into, like
I don't know, pick up basketball, pick up soccer games
and just dominate and people are like how they had
no idea that you're like an elite athlete?
Speaker 8 (41:04):
Did my brother? Did someone of my family send that question?
Speaker 4 (41:07):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (41:08):
They make fun of me for that.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Yeah, I know. I would think you're surprise the crap
out of people if you just hopped in playing basketball
soccer and they're like, what is happening right now?
Speaker 4 (41:16):
Okay, So my.
Speaker 8 (41:17):
Husband will play Bruce Springsteen's Glory.
Speaker 9 (41:20):
Days in my house just to mock how I crave
winning all the time, and I can't always win in
my industry, right Like sports media is so hard, breaking
news is hard, and I get some victories here and there,
but the only place that I can dominate is on
a field.
Speaker 8 (41:40):
So that is what I do to sort of.
Speaker 9 (41:42):
Tap in and feed the ego that that is really
should not be there anymore. By the way, at forty
two years old with two kids, I should not be
on any field. But yeah, I'm still living. I peaked
in high school, so I think that's probably why I
tap back into that so much.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Yeah, but you also played collegiate soccer, didn't you?
Speaker 9 (42:00):
I did?
Speaker 4 (42:01):
I did.
Speaker 8 (42:01):
I played George Masex.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
That's not speaking in high school means you don't go
play anywhere. I've listen. I peaked in high school athletically,
I didn't play in college, though you played at George Mason.
That's a real life uh like sport school Division I school.
Speaker 9 (42:14):
Yeah, they totally kept me on the team just because
they needed somebody that would punch another person in the face.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
You're an enforcer.
Speaker 8 (42:22):
I was an enforcer, and my coach told me that,
He's like, you.
Speaker 9 (42:25):
We need somebody who can just be scrappy My teammates
were these like stunningly beautiful first of all, just like
aesthetically beautiful women, but their their soccer style was was
was also beautiful. They didn't have a lot of grit
because they were from the South and that was just
the type of soccer they learned, whereas in New Jersey
it's it's like you punched the person in the face first,
(42:46):
then you kicked the ball. So they took advantage of
that in a lot of our scheme of use my
aggressiveness to try to get us schools, and it worked
a lot.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
Before you came on. We mentioned this, but I want
to mention it again a host of Scoop City show
about the NFL, it's you and Daniel talking about the league.
And then also the article on with Shirder on the
print call I read and you're right for The Athletic,
which I subscribe to, So yeah, I'm in in many ways.
So it's super cool. Thank you so much for your time,
and yeah, I keep doing it and I'm a big fan.
(43:15):
And yeah, you have such a such a distinct voice,
not like your physical voice, but like how you approach
and how you share your feelings on sports. So so
thank you, and it's been really cool to talk with you, Alli.
Speaker 8 (43:25):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 9 (43:26):
A huge fan of yours as well, and thank you
for having me on. And hopefully in the season I'll
help back on.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
We'll talk some more ball, all right, Diana, thank you.

All right, that's it. We're gonna play our Dylan Gabriel
interview after the end because we've already aired this once.
But we went and talked to Dylan Gabriel when he
was about to play for Oregon for the first time.
So ill, don't that be fun to play back?
Speaker 3 (44:50):
That's pretty awesome. Yeah, that is an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
One of the nine. I'd have been so mad if
they drafted a quarterback after me, especially a more famous one. Yes,
thank you, guys. So we'll end this here, but as
soon as we're done, we'll play the Dylan Gabriel interview
that we did from the facility in Oregon. I just
thought it was fun to play again. So that's it.
Thank you guys for listening, and we will see you
(45:14):
later on this week. It'll be Read's last show ever.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Oh man, I'm gonna miss him.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
All right, that's it for us.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
Blow it.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
We'll see you guys later on this week. Byeverybody, don't
thanks for the time.
Speaker 7 (45:27):
Of course, have you played n Cuba Football yet?
Speaker 4 (45:30):
I have?
Speaker 1 (45:30):
With you?
Speaker 4 (45:32):
I have not. Actually, you haven't used you on the game.
I haven't. I've seen me, but I haven't used third
person me.
Speaker 7 (45:40):
That would be the first thing. That's all I would do.
I would only but I will play no defense, only offense.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
Interesting enough, are you rebuilding?
Speaker 7 (45:48):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (45:48):
I random team? I random team a little bit, but
I played three games against Evan Stewart. He's my neighbor.
So quick little walk through the back door and then
play the game.
Speaker 7 (45:59):
So how do you feel up your positioning because you
like talk quarterback.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
On the game. Yeah, I think the only thing I
have a problem with is a speed being at eighty
one on you. I would have took a eighty five
or eighty six, but I'm grateful either way.
Speaker 7 (46:15):
How's the time been up here so far?
Speaker 4 (46:17):
In organ? A lot of fun, a lot of rain early,
but a lot of sun now and just good people.
So I appreciate that and just been having a lot
of fun doing it.
Speaker 10 (46:28):
When you pack up and you move up here, do
you do a U haul or do you just move in?
You don't have enough stuff anyway, yet.
Speaker 4 (46:34):
That's a great question. I actually did not a U haul.
I didn't want to drive. I couldn't make that drive,
but paid a moving company. They did it, shipped the car,
or at least my girlfriend's car, and then they shipped
the car. They drove the car up here. I guess
they put it on, but they drove with the car
(46:56):
on it. Yes, okay, so they did the whole move
is easy for me, but uh, tough ones you get
into your house too where to start moving stuff. Don't
do it with your girlfriend either, might break up.
Speaker 10 (47:10):
So oh yeah, well, well that's a different episode.
Speaker 7 (47:13):
That's the whole different episode.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
That's not to wait breaking news we didn't. Yeah. Yeah,
it's just there's potential, there's potential to fight with somebody
that even you're best friends with. I wouldn't even do
it with your best friend because that could lead to moving.
Speaker 7 (47:27):
Just sucks.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
Yeah, it's tough. Uh.
Speaker 7 (47:29):
Now, when I've changed jobs. The company that I went
to work for always paid for my move.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
How'd that work out?
Speaker 4 (47:35):
You have to pay for your own move? I had
to pay for my own moves. But you know at
the rebate you need to check rebate. Maybe we could
have that in uh in the contract.
Speaker 7 (47:44):
Get n C double A like EA to pay for
that move. Because they didn't give enough speed, they should.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
Pay for your move. I agree, rebate. I didn't jump?
Speaker 7 (47:51):
Are you jumping?
Speaker 4 (47:53):
I mean, I don't think my jumping is good. Maybe
they're maybe they're on track. But are you sure you
didn't play with you at all?
Speaker 7 (47:57):
Because, like you know, you know all the ratings.
Speaker 4 (47:59):
Why only no speed in jump? Because I'm a little
insecure about it, to be quite honest. But played against fun? Yeah?
Not fun?
Speaker 7 (48:10):
Did you hear I hear words getting around about my bitch.
Speaker 4 (48:13):
Press it is? BOSSA was very impressed. I actually saw
him right after you guys filmed, and then.
Speaker 7 (48:21):
I just got to use an offer email.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
How many times did you do it? There're one?
Speaker 3 (48:26):
Don't worry about that.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
Well, No, I did it twice?
Speaker 7 (48:27):
Actually did it twice?
Speaker 4 (48:28):
I did twice. That's pretty good. But I took a
break in between that's good.
Speaker 7 (48:31):
Does that count?
Speaker 4 (48:32):
That counts to me?
Speaker 1 (48:33):
That's so h just.
Speaker 7 (48:34):
Schematically like where you come from and what you're doing now,
big difference.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
I'd say. So. I think every coach I've played for,
everywhere I've been has been a learning experience and you
know there's always some different twist to what you're calling
or running. But uh, for the most part, I think
it's all been things that translate very well and you know,
help highlight my game, but also you know, pushed me
to be a better player. So it's been fun. And
(49:02):
when you have a lot of weapons around you, it
definitely makes it a lot more fun.
Speaker 10 (49:06):
Terminology wise, big changes, big word changes meaning the same things.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
Yeah, so definitely a lot of changes in the terminology.
You know, I kind of say, like you go from
you know, ordering at McDonald's to reading the Bible verse,
so it's it's a little different, you know, instead of
getting the number one, you're getting you know John three sixteen.
Speaker 7 (49:30):
Yeah yeah Philippians, Yeah, yeah, without that real whenever you.
Speaker 10 (49:37):
Whenever you make a change, and it could be from college,
NFL change of programs, like the day that you commit.
Speaker 7 (49:43):
Do they give you, do they send you the playbook.
Is it a PDF or do they actually mail you
the book? When do you get that?
Speaker 4 (49:49):
Well, nowadays, I don't think they do it just because
of you know, commitments sometimes don't always fall through or happen.
But know, if that would happen, then i'd have you know,
UCLA's playbook around this time.
Speaker 7 (50:04):
But you don't.
Speaker 4 (50:05):
I don't never got it. I think it's once you
step foot on campus, once you you know, have that
weekend there and make sure you're in school and you're
really at the school, then you know they don't want
to give you all the tricks, the trades and early
where you can run away with it.
Speaker 7 (50:21):
You're talking about weapons here, What weapons attracted you to
come to Oregon?
Speaker 4 (50:25):
I just you know, I think kind of throughout that process,
I knew what Oregon, you know, what we were bringing back,
but also kind of what they're looking for in the portal.
And you know, I think maybe in a six year senior,
it's important to be around guys that are are older.
And I think you see that on our team just
throughout you know, eleven on offense and e eleven on defense.
(50:48):
It's it's a veteran team, and I think that's a
big advantage for us, just with guys who played a
lot of football, but then bringing in pieces that we're
definitely gonna help. And I think that all kind of
came together, tried to look at it, you know, from
a holistic approach, just because you know, it's it's a
lot more than you know, just me and you got
(51:11):
to come together as a unit to make things happen.
Speaker 7 (51:12):
So is that a tough decision to make a change.
Speaker 10 (51:14):
And who's in your group, your personal like life group
that you would have that conversation with.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
Yeah, I have a group of family members and people
that you know helped me outside of football as well,
that you know, I just looked to and ask questions.
And I think the hardest part was I did get
a lot of mixed reviews, So this one was definitely
my decision. But I just knew it was right. And
I think there's you know, a powerful feeling to you know,
(51:41):
betting on yourself and trusting your instincts. And you know,
I've always lived in my heart and it's always done
good for me. So I'm happy where I'm at and
it's been a blast.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
You show up here, how do you connect with your
teammates that you just met, and you're just like, hey man,
I'm I'm your leader now, Like you say, later, what
do you follow me?
Speaker 4 (52:02):
Like?
Speaker 3 (52:02):
What do you tell them?
Speaker 4 (52:03):
Like?
Speaker 3 (52:03):
What's the conversations on?
Speaker 4 (52:05):
What are you like? It's adjustment, you know. I think
it's tough, you know, as you know, you play with
the quarterback or you know, a guy who's been here
for two years and then there's an immediate transition. I
think it's you know, very apparent that time is very valuable,
you know, and we don't have time on our end
(52:25):
due to it being a one year kind of thing.
But you know, I just tried to spend as much
time around the guys and you know, be myself. I
think that is something that is extremely powerful as well,
because you know, when you're not genuine, you can see
right through it in the locker room. And I think
I'm very confident in who I am and just being
(52:46):
myself allowed me to connect with everyone. And the culture
and environment they have here has made it very easy
to be inviting for any new guys. But also we're
all chasing the same goal. You know, I wanted to
win a national championship, so uh, they knew I was
the guy for the job and and helping him out,
so it was it was easy on both ends.
Speaker 7 (53:08):
Final three questions. How do you handle social media?
Speaker 4 (53:13):
I in the off season, I go on and and
handle it. So you're on, you're active in the I am,
you know, I'm not as good as everyone else, but
I'm a scroller, you know, so I try to you know,
delete the app sometimes, or at least removing it from
my phone, not deleting my profile so I can get
(53:34):
things done. But uh, usually in camps or like as
season rolls around, just a lot of busy time, I
don't want to spend any time scrolling, so I'll just
remove it for you know, my sanity of staying clear,
being focused on on what's you know, the main thing
at hand. And then you know, I'll have somebody help
me get things done when I need to. So that's
(53:56):
how I handle it. Goofy on it as well. So
sometimes it's good having other people handle it for me.
I mean, I've said some questionable things, but you live
and you learn, and I think I like to not
take it too serious as well, So I.
Speaker 10 (54:12):
Expect the watch generic vague answer here, but I did
see as of today, you're the favorite for the Heisman.
Speaker 7 (54:17):
Thoughts, generic and vegue.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
I'll say this, I've been not even talked about. I've
been talked about either way. It's what have you done
for me lately? You know, you can tell me one
thing today, but tomorrow willn't mean the same thing. So
I'm a big guy on you know, just being in
the moment. The rest will take care of itself. And
I think it's it's very clear. If you win and
you take care of business, everyone will be right where
(54:42):
they want to be. So I got a winner's mentality.
I just want to see a dove at the end
of the game. And like I said, the rest will
take care of yourself.
Speaker 7 (54:49):
All right, final thing, give me your amount. Rushmore musical artist, favorite.
Speaker 4 (54:51):
Artists controversial right now, but I love Drake.
Speaker 7 (54:55):
Oh come on, I love you.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Just got annihilated.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
Yeah, man, know what he's gonna come back? Head up,
young king. You know patience, I would say, Drake Party
next door has been unreal recently, just kind of my vibe.
I like to you know, chill, Central Sea has been
He's not on the Rushmore, but he's been the lately.
The kid LaRoy and Bryson Tiller, you.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
Know Party next Door.
Speaker 7 (55:23):
Yeah, I mean they gotta have been on it lately.
Speaker 4 (55:25):
Yeah, yeah, chushable album covers, but hey yeah, yeah, we're
not judging.
Speaker 3 (55:29):
We're a lot of.
Speaker 10 (55:32):
We're there's so much gear we're in, like the backup
gear's helmets and you've got a machine that measures your feet.
Speaker 7 (55:38):
Wouldn't be cool if every player could pick their own
uniform and you guys just all went out your own
individual uniform.
Speaker 4 (55:42):
That you could do that with organ, Yeah, not a
lot of school. Everybody had their Hey appreciate you, of course, yeah,
good lives appreciate you.
