Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Vikings this offseason, Ryan Kelly, will Fries, Jonathan Allen,
Javon Hargrave, the Chicago Bears this offseason, Ben Johnson the
Green Bay Packers look at both of those organizations and say,

(00:22):
that's cute.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Watch this.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
They trade for Micah Parsons. Are the Vikings, Lions, and
Bears screwed in the NFC North. I'm gonna explain why.
I don't think so. Yes, the Packers traded for superstar
defensive end Micah Parsons, and the Super Bowl odds did

(00:49):
improve from twenty to one to twelve to one. But
I don't think the Vikings need to fear the Packers
anymore this morning than they did yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And I'm gonna explain why on this podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
The Packers traded defensive tackle Kenny Clark, who has completely
destroyed Viking center Garrett Bradburry over the years. Kenny Clark
has made tremendous impacts on games facing the Vikings and

(01:34):
other teams in the NFC North, So they do lose
that impactful player in the middle. But the Packers did
keep an extra defensive tackle as I'm sure they were
preparing for this trade to go down and they do

(01:54):
bring in one of the best young defensive ends in
the game who is entering his prime. So from that standpoint,
it was a phenomenal trade for the Packers. Twenty six
years old, in each of his seasons he has twelve

(02:15):
plus sacks, and Micah Parsons is a classic disruptor.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
On the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
He can wreck games by himself because of his.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Natural gifted abilities to blitz.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You take a look at his sack totals through the
years twelve last year, fourteen in twenty twenty three, thirteen
and a half in two thousand and twenty two, and
then in twenty twenty one, Micah Parsons had thirteen sacks, So.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
The dude is a monster.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
But the Green Bay Packers, although they are the youngest
team in the league at right around twenty five years old,
and just got younger with this Micah Parsons trade. Because
Micah is twenty six, Kenny Clark was about thirty, so
they get even younger with this trade. They forfeit a

(03:28):
few first round picks, but get a talented player. You
look at the Super Bowl winning trends throughout the years
and the average age of a Super Bowl winning team
falls right around twenty six years old. Most NFL rosters

(03:48):
are right around twenty five and a half and twenty
seven years old. This according to chat GBT, and the
Packers fall right in line with that age.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
They have the youngest roster in the.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
League, and they are built for sustained success because all
their players are on the same timeline. But here's why
I'm not worried about the Packers. It's because of Jordan Love.
I am not convinced that Jordan Love is an elite

(04:30):
quarterback that will take the Green Bay Packers to the
promised Land that Brett farre and Aaron Rodgers once took
the Green Bay Packers too. You look at Jordan Love's
career statistics. His first year, starting thirty two touchdowns eleven interceptions,

(04:58):
his record was nine and eight. His second year, starting
twenty five touchdowns eleven interceptions, his record was nine to six.
And he's turning twenty seven years old this season, and

(05:19):
he's essentially entering the prime of his career. But when
I watch Jordan Love play, I am not convinced that
he is a quarterback worthy enough of taking the Green
Bay Packers to the Super Bowl and what's so interesting

(05:41):
about this is that after this trade, so many predictions
are gonna change, and there's going to be a list
of experts that call or predict the Packers to win
the Super Bowl this season, but they are overlooking Jordan
Love and the influence that he has on a game.

(06:05):
And here's the honest truth about Jordan Love. He is
a very serviceable quarterback. He's not a bottom.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Feeder in the league. But Jordan Love needs to play
within himself.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Meaning if Jordan Love tries to deviate from what Matt
Lafleur is calling, his weaknesses get exposed. So really, the
recipe for the Packers to win the Super Bowl this

(06:47):
season is for Jordan Love to limit himself to what
Matt Lafleur wants him to do. Because what we've seen
over the years is Jordan Love tries to deviate from
the plan that Matt LeFleur an x in his game plan,

(07:12):
and when he does that, he goes beyond his limitations
and then gets exposed by other NFL teams. Why is
Jordan Love's career record as a starting quarterback eighteen and fifteen.

(07:33):
Why is his completion percentage throughout his career sixty three
and a half when the best quarterbacks are at sixty
seven sixty eight percent. There are major questions about Jordan
Love and he is about to get exposed as the
quarterback that he is because now the Packers are in

(07:56):
the spotlight for him.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
To get exposed.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
With these Super Bowl expectations, after this big trade and
with their young talent, the Packers are going to be
in the spotlight more than they've ever been in these
past few seasons, and with that is going to come
much criticism toward the direction of Jordan Love. And after

(08:30):
this trade, the Packers jumped the Lions in their NFC
North divisional odds, so it's Packers, Lions, Vikings Bears as
it goes for the odds via DraftKings for the winner

(08:51):
of the NFC North.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
And I look at the Green Bay Packers schedule.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
And I'm it's going to predict in this moment that
though the Packers are probably likely to win the NFC
North Division, they will not advance past their first round
game in the playoffs because when the games matter most,

(09:23):
Jordan Love will get exposed. And I look at their
schedule home versus Detroit, home versus Washington. It probably split
those two and then you're at Cleveland at Dallas versus Cincy,
at Arizona at Pittsburgh, first Carolina. The Packers are going
to destroy their opponents in the middle of their season,

(09:50):
so they're likely to win the NFC North and I
wouldn't be surprised by that. But when Jordan Love is
asked to do more come playoff time, because when it
comes to the playoffs, every quarterback needs to do more,

(10:10):
Jordan Love is going to get exposed. So I don't
fear the Packers. Sure they'll be a great regular season team,
but the Lions were a great regular season team last year.
Ask them how that went down come playoff time. They
lost to the Washington Commanders and their first game of

(10:33):
the playoffs after winning fifteen games in the regular season.
It's not about the regular season, it's about the team
that you can put together come playoff time. I'd rather
have a team go nine to eight than be hot
going into the playoffs and win the Super Bowl, then

(10:57):
be fifteen and two in the regular season and then
he get exposed in the playoffs. And that's what I
expect the Packers to do. The Packers, they're gonna be
phenomenal in.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
The regular season.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
I expect them to dominate, but when it comes to
the playoffs, I expect them to crumble when the lights
shine the brightest and they ask their quarterback Jordan Love
to do more than they asked him to do throughout

(11:31):
the regular season. So yes, big time trade, big time addition,
but this does not make the Packers super Bowl winners
in my mind. So that's my take on that. If

the free consultation, and then we were like we can't
miss out on this opportunity, and neither can you. Big project,
small projects, five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis. The Vikings
named their captains yesterday and Kevin O'Connell ran.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Through the list.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
I was watching the press conference live from my studio
and he rolls down through the list, Justin Jefferson, Andrew
d Piola, Josh Mattellus, and I'm looking at the list
and I'm like, he has yet to name JJ McCarthy

(13:17):
as a captain. And then the last player that he
says is JJ McCarthy. And this is the least surprising
news that you'll hear all year because of the mindset

(13:40):
McCarthy has. When you are named a captain your first
year starting, that is a very noticeable compliment from the
rest of the Vikings roster because captain and see, sure

(14:02):
it's given to almost every quarterback on a team, but
when it's given to a rookie quarterback, then it really
showcases how respected a young player is in a big
boy locker room. McCarthy hasn't even played a snap yet,

(14:24):
and for him to be named captain by his teammates
just shows everything that we already know about McCarthy. The
things that I have no question whatsoever about McCarthy is
his mentality, his work ethic, and his desire to be great.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
The questions I have is is his.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Ability to be great? But I think McCarthy is unbustable.
I don't think there's any chance he's going to be
a complete bust The questions I have is is he
accurate enough? His arm strength isn't even a question, but
is he accurate enough? Can he take a team to
the next level? Because he's been carried up until this

(15:13):
point in his football playing career. But for him to
be named captain, just as I mentioned, confirms everything that
we already believed about how hard he works and the
mentality that he brings into the Vikings facility and into

(15:39):
Vikings practice on the field and off the field. So
something to take note of and something to pay attention to,
because if McCarthy looks at this, he should be honored,
and I'm sure captain sees are. But you look at

(16:01):
the role of the captain and to be named a
captain your rookie season starting, it's it's an honor and
that's pretty cool. Thanks for watching the show today, Hoakland

Speaker 2 (16:22):
My wife and I made a chuck roast the other night.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Oh my word, it was incredible. And what was even
better is the price at the store. It was like
ten dollars a pound, twenty plus dollars. This was a
two and a half three pound truck roast. We got
it for four dollars a pound, so we basically paid
twelve dollars for this truck roast versus twenty plus dollars

(16:45):
in the store. We saved like eight to ten dollars
on this truck roast alone, and we have dozens in
our freezer. Think about the savings. Hoakland Farms Beef nine
