Speaker 1 (00:00):
Are the Minnesota Vikings in a state of emergency? Because
they just might be. On this podcast, we are going
to answer that question. But this podcast is presented by
zero Res. Celebrate the month of September with zero res

(00:45):
heard about it from the brawl with Tim Paul. All right,
are the Minnesota Vikings in a current state of emergency?
And it might sound like a ridiculous question, but it
last year the Vikings got their asses kicked against the

(01:06):
Los Angeles Rams, And immediately after that game, Kevin O'Connell
went to the podium and answered the biggest question, what
needs to be fixed?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
And Kevin o'count.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Immediately pointed to the trenches because in that Rams game,
the Vikings got demolished in the trenches.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
So what do the Vikings do?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
They do what any good organization would do they go out.
They signed Will Fries, They signed Ryan Kelly. They signed
Jonathan Hargrave and Jonathan Allen to shore up both sides
of the trenches. Now you're coming into the season potentially

(01:58):
with a top five offensive line and a top five
defensive line for a team that won fourteen games last year.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Here are the Vikings sitting.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
At one to one with this super Bowl loaded roster,
and we don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
If our quarterback position is solved.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
The Vikings went from solving their two biggest missing pieces
and they forgot to handle and take care of the
biggest piece to a super Bowl winning team, and that's
the quarterback position. They thought that their best interest would

(02:45):
be to enter the season with a twenty two year
old quarterback who was injured the entire last year, while
this super Bowl roster surrounds them. And here's why that's
a problem. Javon Hargrave is thirty two years old. Jonathan
Allen is thirty years old. They are on their last leg.

(03:11):
They don't have seasons of dominant play left. They have
a season or two, and now the Vikings are stuck
with Carson Wentz, who they hope can pull a rabbit
out of that hat and duplicate an MVP type season

(03:33):
that he had eight nine years ago. So I think
the Vikings are in a state of emergency because.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
They don't have a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You replaced all of those things last year, you fixed it,
and then you let your quarterback walk out the door.
And it's unfair for McCarthy because now everyone is looking
at McCarthy and saying, Yo, this team is perfect. It

(04:12):
will not get any easier for you. And you're laying
an egg in seven of eight quarters. And now the
Vikings are sitting wondering if they combine this super Bowl
or roster for nothing, because you can't enter an NFL

(04:36):
season and be a hopeful Super Bowl contender without having
a quarterback that can at the very least make all
the throws. But in the Vikings current state of disarray
at the quarterback position, how can you expect anything more

(05:01):
than trying to.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Maybe make a playoff push when that was not the
end goal.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Yes, the Vikings used the money that they would have
spent on Sam Darnold on the defensive tackles, but what
they did is.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
They left other leaks in the house.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
They ignored the most important leak in the house to
try to address smaller ones. And here we are. Let's
go Carson Wentz. Come on, Carson Wentz. Six team in
six seasons. Carson Wentz be our saving grace, Carson Wentz.

(05:46):
I mean, it is an interesting decision that I've been
warning of all off season. You cannot have your quarterback
on a different timeline than the rest of your organization,

(06:12):
because now the Vikings roster, which was Super Bowl loaded.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Is just sitting there.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
And the missing piece is the quarterback the most important piece.
And I get what the Vikings were doing with their
strategy with trying to address all the areas around and
having that quarterback on the rookie contract and doing.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
The whole thing.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
But it's different when a quarterback is in year three
starting and you surround that quarterback with Super Bowl talent.
This is Jajon McCarthy's first season starting in the NFL
after missing six hundred days of competitive football. So I

(07:05):
think it was a critical mistake, and I think the
decision makers within the Vikings organization are yelling may day
because they are in a state of emergency. Check out

All right, the Vikings play the Bengals real quick preview.

(08:18):
If Jake Browning does not have a little pile of
shit in his underwear after the game, the Vikings defense
did not do their job. It is no secret that
the Bengals offensive line stinks. They needed to sign former

(08:39):
Vikings and friend of this podcast Dalton Reisner last second
to fulfill some of their knees on the offensive line,
which means the defensive line should have a heyday against
Jake Browning.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
It should be open season.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
And this is as a must win game as you
can have for the Vikings this season.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
You lose this game, you follow a one in two
and then you go to.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Ireland to play Pittsburgh the very next Sunday, and it's like,
uh oh, there's nothing guaranteed. If the Vikings lose at
home to the Jake Browning led Cincinnati Bengals with a
terrible offensive line, I anticipated the Bengals basically putting every

(09:38):
single person in pass protection besides Jamar Chase and T Higgins,
and that's.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Probably going to be the way that they try to
win this game.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Load up nine in pass protection, have two guys go out,
and hopefully they can beat the Vikings weaker secondary. If
