Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Minnesota Vikings didn't really dominate the Cincinnati Bengals despite
winning forty eight to ten, and on this podcast, I'm
gonna explain why, But first I need to tell you
about zero Res. I'm sure when Isaiah Rogers scored back
to back touchdowns you were going crazy. You probably spilled
(00:24):
your drink, maybe spill your buttery popcorn all over the floor. Well,
then it's time to call zero Res because they have
an amazing carpet cleaning deal for you.
Speaker 2 (00:35):

and take advantage of these huge savings. To the forwards
are backwards, It spells the same zero Res.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
All right. The Vikings win forty eight to ten.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
But I am a big believer that the score of
this game didn't represent just how dominant the Vikings were
in this game. The dominance of one player, Isaiah Rodgers,
overshadowed the mistakes and other areas on the field, specifically
(01:35):
by the Vikings offense, and because Isaiah Rodgers had such
a historical game. What I'm observing is the Vikings fan
base and Vikings organization are overlooking major mistakes through this
(01:57):
ball game. When Isaiah Rodgers had his first touchdown, it
was seventeen to three. The Bengals are driving down the
field under two minutes, could have.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Made it seventeen ten.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
They get the ball at half, they could have double
up on the Vikings and tied the game. The Vikings
score seventeen points in the final two minutes, and they
scored seventeen points in the first twenty eight minutes. Obviously,
the Vikings defense made some spectacular plays, but the Vikings
(02:28):
offense was having major trouble After their first series touchdown drive,
Carson Wentz to Josh Oliver and I'm just gonna read
a few tweets by some Vikings insiders. This first one
comes from Will Raggits. It says since a penalty eighted
first series, it's been kind of a mess for Carson
(02:51):
Wentz and the offense. Vikings have four penalties on offense,
three fall starts, and Wentz has been sacked three times.
Here's a tweet by Kevin Seffert. Through three drives, the
Vikings have eight dropbacks four rushing attempts, So the balance
(03:15):
and the effectiveness of the Vikings offense was a major
issue at the beginning of this game, and things turned
when the Cincinnati Bengals were practically handing the ball off
to Isaiah Rodgers and the Vikings defense. Not because the
(03:37):
Vikings offense exploded and the Cincinnati Bengals are not a
good defense. This wasn't a win that is a gateway
win to more wins. This win was an anomaly. This
win should be viewed different than any other win in
the NFL this season because of the mistakes that the
(03:57):
Cincinnati Bengals made. Yes, Isaiah Rogers made some plays and
the Vikings force fumbles, but it was so crazy that
you could not possibly replicate this kind of performance, and
it appeared as if it was such a dominant win,
and it was sort of defensively. But the way I
(04:20):
view it is the Bengals pissed this game away. They
had a chance to tie it, and they literally gave
the ball to the Vikings because they didn't take care
of the ball. And let me prove it to you.
You view turnovers differently. When the Vikings turned the ball over,
(04:41):
you don't say, oh, great play by the defense. You say,
what was Carson Wentz doing. Why didn't Aaron Jones hold
on to the ball. Why didn't Justin Jefferson hold on
to the ball instead of fumbling?
Speaker 2 (04:55):
What an idiot?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yet, when the Vikings force a turnover, you completely disregard
the fact that the other team made a mistake and
you point to the fact that the Vikings made such
an amazing play defensively. The Vikings are not going to
score back to back touchdowns and then force another fumble,
and then force another fumble.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
This game was so historical.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
That you could not possibly duplicate a performance like the
one the Vikings did on Sunday. So this game was
an anomaly, not some consistent formula or some sustainable way
of winning. I don't feel any more confident about the
(05:45):
Vikings after beating the Bengals than I did after they
lost to the Falcons. What could change my confidence is
the game against the Steelers. If the Vikings play well
against these Steelers and beat Aaron Rodgers and that good
(06:05):
defensive team, and they do it convincingly, then I will
be a believer in this Vikings team and in the
Vikings season. But if they lose to the Steelers, I'm
gonna point to this podcast and say I told you so,
and said their win against the Bengals was an anomaly,
(06:28):
not some gateway win to more wins. The Vikings did
need this player back, though, and he was huge. But first,
let me tell you about five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis,
because they transformed our bathroom in forty eight hours, and
that's what they'll do for you. Our bathroom was disgusting,
moldy and really unhealthy, and five Star Bath Solutions of
(06:51):
Minneapolis got rid of our mold and renovated the entire
thing and we had it back in forty eight hours.
New floors, bathtub, shower, surround shower, a head, vanity, countertops.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Mirror, and we went from a single to a double sink.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
That's what five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis will do
for you.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
That's what they did for us, and that's their promise.
Affordable solutions, beautiful.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Creations, five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis. All Right, the
Vikings needed this player back if they were gonna accomplish
their goals. This season, and that player was Christian darisol
and we saw the Vikings offensive line perform much better
(07:39):
than they did in weeks one and two. And Christian
Deisan is as important to the development of jaj McCarthy
as Justin Jefferson is. McCarthy needs to have some semblance
of comfort in the pocket, and comfort in the pocket,
(08:03):
I'm sorry, was not coming from justin school. So having
Christian Dearrisaw back in this game and for this overseas
trip against two highly touted defenses, the Steelers and the Browns,
was a must have. The Vikings can feel much more
(08:25):
confident holding up in pass protection against TJ. Watt and
Miles Garrett coming up because of Christian Darrisaw.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Carson wentz fourteen for twenty.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
One hundred and seventy three yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions.
He did a good job of not making that critical
crucial mistake that we saw a few times with Indianapolis,
and the area that he looked much better in than
McCarthy was the timing. His first touchdown pass to Josh
(09:02):
Oliver was a perfectly time throw. As soon as Oliver
broke out of that route, the ball was on it,
and that was the biggest mistake that McCarthy made through
his first two games. The ball was not coming out
on time. He was hesitant to throw the ball, his
anticipation was slow, and he was processing slow. There was
(09:26):
a very stark difference between the timing of Carson Wentz
and the timing of JJ McCarthy. All right, let me
