But what was most impressive was his comments after the game.
This could have been a moment where he glorified himself
and celebrated in the locker room like it was nineteen

You pull up that video of that locker room celebration
after Week seventeen, and you might confuse it for a
Super Bowl win. It was a Week seventeen win versus
the Green Bay Packers. Yes, the Vikings were thirteen and

two at that moment, but the celebration told me all
I needed to know about expectations moving forward. It was embarrassing.
JJ McCarthy enters the Vikings locker room after the win
and the boys are pumped, as they should be, but

it's not a party. They're not throwing McCarthy over his
shoulders and celebrating like he just won a Super Bowl.
And after the game, McCarthy had this to say, and
this is what was most impressive. I'm happy that we
got the win, but I'm not proud, to be honest
with you, There's a lot of meat on the bone,
and I feel like I could have played a lot better.

That is straight, honest feedback from the starting quarterback of
the Vikings, A player that looked at his performance objectively
and didn't lose sight of the areas that he needs
to improve upon. That is a mentality of a player
that wants to be great, that wanted throws back that

he should have made, and that's a trait that you
should love about McCarthy. He was happy the team got
the win, but he was not proud of his performance. Objectively,
looking at his performance, fourteen of twenty five, one hundred
and forty three yards, three total touchdowns, one interception. That's

a pretty good day. But where McCarthy needs to improve
upon is his completion percentage. You are not winning many
football games with a completion percentage from your quarterback at
fifty six percent, and there were many throws that he
should have completed with a receiver wide open down the

field that he just missed. Only two quarterbacks had less
completions than McCarthy, Cam Lord and Bryce Young. If JAJ
McCarthy wants to handle business against the rest of the
NFL this season and give the Vikings organization zero doubt

moving forward about who their quarterbacks should be the following season,
that McCarthy needs to improve upon his completion percentage. We
need to see this completion percentage sore because fifty six
percent is too low. And what I love about it
is that McCarthy knows it himself. McCarthy objectively looked at

his performance and did not get lost in the emotion
of a win against a divisional rival and a state
that he has history in. It would be so easy
to lose sight of how you could improve with all
of those things happening around it. McCarthy went from a

mad man in the locker room following the win it
looked like he was possessed to a man that was
answering postgame questions that just watched the entire tape and
understood where he went wrong. That is something to love
about this quarterback. He was not satisfied just because the

team won and he had big plays in big moments.
He's happy the team won because really that's all that matters.
But what he understands is that if the team wants
to continue to win and beat the Packers twice, the
Lions again, and the Bears again and the Raven, he
needs to improve and become a better quarterback from the
