Speaker 2 (00:36):
Zero Riz.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Spell it forwards or backwards, it spells the same. The
Vikings win thirty four twenty six and McCarthy plays his
best game as an NFL professional, And here's what he
had to say after the game today. What do you
think has allowed you to push through all the adversity
you've faced this year and not.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Let it break you. I love what I do, like
I love playing ball. I realize how blessed I am
to be in this position, and most importantly, I love
the people I do it with. You know, it can
get very loud and very noisy, and you know there's
a lot of situations that I going through in my
past to kind of minimize those things. And the number
one thing that does that is just love what you're

(01:21):
doing right in front of you. Love who you're around,
because that's what matters, you know, in the grand scheme
of things, and focus on that growth each and every day.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
There any point in the past few months, say you
didn't feel that that love for what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
I wouldn't say that, no, because I love the journey.
I love the ups and downs, I love the pain,
I love the heartache. You know, that's a part of growing,
that's a part of life. And you know, I think
football is just a great microcosm for those lessons and
you know, strengthening your resiliency, patients, all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So I love JJ McCarthy's mentality more than the way
he throws the ball, and I believe his mentality is
eventually going to change the way he throws the ball.
His mentality is going to be his driving force behind
being a competent NFL quarterback, because there were times this

(02:13):
season when McCarthy was statistically the worst.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Quarterback in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
He had at one point the worst passer rating in
the league by twelve points. And even after these last
two weeks where he played his best two games of
the season. McCarthy still has a bottom five passer rating
in the NFL. That's how bad he was in his

(02:42):
first six starts. But what will make McCarthy a good
to great quarterback in the NFL is his mentality. It
would have wrecked some quarterbacks to have as bad a
start to an NFL career McCarthy had, yet.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
He has bounced back.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
For some quarterbacks, it would have been too big of
a mental hurdle to overcome that disastrous of a start.
Yet McCarthy in back to back weeks has thrived after
a historically poor start to an NFL career. JJ McCarthy

(03:28):
is built mentally to persevere through difficult circumstances, and that's
the most impressive part about McCarthy's bounced back. I personally
believe there's a way to find success if you can
search every crack and crevice and search every surface to

(03:53):
try to achieve it. And I believe McCarthy has that
dog mantel to do whatever he needs to do to
find success. And that's why before the season started I
called McCarthy unbustable because McCarthy is going to work too

(04:16):
hard and he has too much perseverance to fall victim
in becoming an NFL bust.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Now have I been critical. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
If you haven't been critical of McCarthy in his first
six starts because of the way he played and because
of the Viking situation with who he's surrounded by, then
you are not being objective. Now you can be critical
and also see that he's not a bust. And that's

(04:49):
what I did. McCarthy was awful, yet I never proclaimed
one time that McCarthy was done, that he was a bust.
And now we are starting to see some fruit appear
in McCarthy's game after statistically being the worst quarterback in

(05:11):
the NFL by a country mile. Now, McCarthy did play great,
but as I'm one to do, I always need to
provide context behind every game, whether it's good or bad.
These last two weeks, McCarthy's played his best ball in
the NFL, without question, and it just happens to be

(05:36):
that the Commanders and Dallas Cowboys are dead last, ranked
thirty one and thirty two in worst quarterback passer.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Rating by a defense.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
So McCarthy it's great to see strides, but the next
step McCarthy needs to take is versus the Packers. McCarthy
needs to showcase that he can do the same thing.
He can't just dominate the worst defenses in the NFL.
He needs to take his success versus the worst defenses

(06:16):
in the NFL and bring that against the best competition
in the NFL. What makes this win and his statistical
performance means something is that this was a Sunday night
performance on NBC at Jerry's World. And most importantly, the

(06:38):
Cowboys had to be one of the most urgent teams
because they needed to win out and they lost, and
now their playoff chances are hardly greater than the Vikings
who just got eliminated yesterday. If you need a bathroom transformation,
