Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome everybody.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
Wednesday edition of the Clay Travis en Buck Sexton Show
kicks off right now. We have a lot of news
to get to, but the big tragic, breaking news story
of this morning is our first.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Our first thing we have to discuss.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Here a shooting at a church that was in it's
in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a Catholic church, a shooting there. It
was the school that is attached to this parish that
was having its opening day mass.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
This is something that I was in Catholic school. We
used to do as well.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
You begin the school year with a mass, and at
this the Annunciation Catholic Church, this morning there was a
mass shooting. The students had gathered in this church. The
reports are as follows. There are going to be updates
on this. We will bring you updates as soon as
we have them in real time over the next three
hours of this program. Here's what has been reported so
(00:59):
far are that there are two fatalities from this, many
more wounded taken to local hospitals in Minneapolis. We don't
know the extent of those wounds. The shooter was shooting
through stained glass windows and there could be additional bullet
(01:20):
wounds of those who have been taking these hospitals.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Likely that is the case.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
They're also though maybe glass or debris wounds, which would
hopefully be considerably less serious than if anybody was hit
by actual gunfire from this shooter. We know that there
are a number of additional injuries, and we don't know
the status of those who have been taken to those
(01:43):
area hospitals. They are being worked on and treated currently.
Press conferences are underway. I just saw a Mayor Fry
of Minneapolis giving a press conference where he was expressing
his condolences to the families.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I was just going to update. This is just come down.
This is courtesy of Fox News. Let me hit you
with these two details. Literally in the last minute, police
chief confirmed shooter. And we'll play this audio for you.
I just sent it to producer Greg armed with a rifle,
shotgunned and a pistol.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Quote.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children.
Sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full
of children, absolutely incomprehensible. And here is the awful fatality news.
Two young kids eight and ten years old were killed
sitting in the church pews. So that is just announced
(02:38):
by the head of the Minneapolis Police Chief, Brian O'Hara,
And again we'll get you the official audio of that,
but literally in the last minute, that breaking news. So
two innocent kids, eight and a ten year old shot
and killed sitting in the church pews this morning.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
If there is a final circle of hell, who would
shoot children in a church belongs there? This is about
as evil as anything as any act could be. Clay
Also in the news, I'm wondering why they haven't made
this connection, or rather police are not saying they are connected.
(03:19):
But there was a separate mass shooting right next to
a Catholic high school in South Minneapolis yesterday. Seven people
were shot there, one fatally, and the suspect escaped. He
fired thirty rounds from a rifle. So someone fired thirty
rounds from a rifle in South Minneapolis yesterday killed someone,
seven people shot, and today at another church setting in
(03:45):
this I think the first one. It was near a
Catholic high school. This case, it's a church that has
a school attached to it, and the students were gathered
for their We used to call it a convocation mass
when I was at a Catholic high school, so I would.
I would think that there's a high likelihood, Clay, that
these are related up but maybe not. Maybe that's why,
(04:06):
Maybe there's details we don't have yet, and that's why
law enforcement is not connecting them.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
But it certainly seems to be the case.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
The shooter is dead, self inflicted gunshot wound, is the
reporter we're getting so far, Which would which which would
under the circumstances often be the case with a mass
shooting like this, The cowardly gunman will take his own
life as soon as he has committed massive carnage and destruction. Clay,
(04:33):
we don't have any information on the shooter yet. I
have been in contact with a couple of reporters who
are friends of the show, who are trying to get
that information from law enforcement asap, just because then we
might get some sense of motive. We know the shooters
all dressed in black. We don't have anything beyond and
the weapons that he had and it was a heat.
(04:55):
Beyond that, I don't think we have any identifying information.
But this is is a reminder of some things that
unfortunately are going to be very There's no answers for
this other than it's incredibly evil and evil exists in
the world. I think that there is a turning toward
(05:15):
church generally in this country and to the Catholic Church specifically.
That is an incredibly good thing for the nation and
a beautiful thing. I'm among those who has returned, who
have returned to the church in recent years, and really
am a believer and working on my faith. And so
you see this and you think, well, we.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Don't know the motive.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
You know, it's tough to get beyond the the reality
of this is just such an evil and heinous thing,
and obviously it seems to be anti Catholic in nature.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I can't get beyond that description.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
I don't know, you know, Clay, is it Is it
someone who is a someone along the lines of the
Nashville school shooter, for example, who's a anti Catholic, anti
traditionalist terrorist. Is in anjihatis?
Speaker 1 (06:04):
We don't know. All we know right now is the
tragedy of the shooting.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
Let's play a couple of these cuts that just have
come in buck from the Minneapolis Police Chief. This is
Brian O'Hara addressing the media. Cut twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
During the miss a gunman approached on the outside on
the side of the building and began firing a rifle
through the church windows towards the children sitting in the
pews at the miss shooting through the windows, he struck
children and worshipers that were inside the building. The shooter
was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol.
(06:41):
This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children
and other people worshiping. The sheer cruelty and cowardice firing
into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
I would also point this out, Buck, I thought everything
you said was very well articulated. Minneapolis has had a
for a city of its size, a lot of really
awful violent acts. I mean, first of all, the George
Floyd riots we all know, which basically burned down.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Huge parts race riots that burned down a section of
the downtown.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
Yeah, we just had in the Minneapolis area, if I'm
not mistaken, the guys show up and shoot politicians, and
then we had the massive search for that, and now
we have this shooting, and again there's violence everywhere. But
(07:42):
I would point out I believe Minneapolis, because the police
were so attacked in that community, is still operating at
an unprecedented level of lack of police. In other words,
I think they still need to hire back hundreds of
police officers to be able to do the job there,
(08:03):
and there's been just a cascading series of violent acts
over the last five years. I would just suggest maybe
possibly having not demonized the police and having hundreds of
more police officers there because Buck, as you know, during
the race riot BLM burning down of that city and
(08:24):
many parts of it, a lot of police just said
I'm fed up. Nobody has our back here at all,
and there are massive needs for hiring of police officers.
Here is cut twenty eight. This is awful news, but
I want you to hear it from the police chief.
These were Catholic school kids celebrating morning mass targeted by
(08:46):
the shooter, and the two deaths eight year old and
a ten year old sitting in the church pews.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Two young children, ages eight and ten were killed where
they sat in the pews. Their parents have been notified.
Seventeen other people were injured, fourteen of them being children.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Two of those Chatrin are.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
In critical condition. The coward who fired these shots ultimately
took his own life in the rear of the church.
Our hearts are broken for the families who have lost
their children.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
It sounds like, and I know this police officer has
probably seen a lot of awful things in his life.
It sounds like he's struggling. Brian O'Hara there to even
get through having to inform everybody of those details. I
would bet that he's a dad. I know a lot
of dads and moms. Eight and ten year old to
die is just beyond comprehension.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
From copside, I knew on the job in the NYPD,
Clay who had been on for twenty years, the hardest
thing for them was always the bad stuff and the deaths,
sometimes murder use or through something like this, through a
through a gang shooting. The deaths of kids was always
a thing that you know, the cops can't even they
can't even really talk about it.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
They can't go there. It's too upsetting, understandably, but.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
That's something that comes with the job that they carry
and and you see that with law enforcement officers you know,
across the country when they deal with these situations and
unfortunately it comes up and it's something that's that's.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Obviously hit here.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
You know, there's there's gonna be I think a lot
of discussion about motive here. Once we know who the
individual is, the much we'll see how much of this
is delayed, because that always tells us a bit about
how the media is trying to frame this issue. I
was just talking to friends of mine here about the
concealed carry.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Rules in Florida. You can in some religious institutions conceal carry.
I believe you have to get specific.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Permission though, but in this case, I'm not even sure
how much that would have.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Look.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
I'm a big i conceal carry. I'm a big concealed
carry advocate. I think it's the only thing that can
reliably reduce violent crime in from a civilians we're talking about,
not for what cops can do from a civilian standpoint,
but in this case, the guy walked up to a
building and.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Just started firing into the building.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah, you know, I'm not sure that there would be
even reaction time. And this is also it's in one
of these situations when when parents are going to be
finding out, you know, two families are finding out they're
bearing their little boy little girl. Is the worst thing imaginable.
You have kids, Clay, I have a son. Now, it's
like hard to even think about in process and honestly
haunting to even imagine what the pain is those parents
(11:35):
are going through. This is a situation though if you're
asking for it, just a pure tactical and law enforcement analysis,
the fact that it's not twenty or thirty kids dead
is it could have very easily been that under these circumstances. Right,
So the the shooter here, fortunately, and I know this
(11:56):
is a horrific circumstance, but fortunately had not planned this
out with degree of proficiency where the body count could
have been much higher. And I know that's not any
that doesn't comfort any of the families who have either
lost their children or their children have been gravely wounded
in this, but just as a society, it's a reminder
this could have been a lot worse based on the
fact pattern that we know.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Well, this happened at the Covenant School here in Nashville,
as you mentioned earlier, and I think religious institutions, sadly,
certainly synagogues and Jewish schools have had to do this,
but a lot of them now have armed security because this,
(12:38):
unfortunately has begun to happen too frequently.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
To your point, when you have somebody there.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Are synagogues here in South Florida that I know of
specifically are concealed carry friendly, and they should be.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
I think that is an excellent decision for those those
Let me tell you this. I'm sitting in that I
was just in church on Sunday with carry and the baby.
I want to know there's a you know, a law
abiding American patriot in that in that church who's concealed.
You know, if it's not me, I want somebody to
be concealed carrying in there.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I've been arguing this for a long time. I mean,
my kids have armed security at their schools. I think
it should be standard to have armed security. Unfortunately because
of where we are and a lot of schools and
unfortunately a lot of religious institutions as well. In this case,
speaking to the facts here, if someone's going to go
(13:25):
up to a building and just start firing a rifle
off through a glass window, now you could say, maybe,
you know, I'm wondering he did move into the structure
at some point, so I'm not sure at what stage
where the children hit Initially, I'm just looking at this
from a security security review security analysis perspective. If the
(13:45):
children were hit when he initially fired in that's going
to be very difficult for anybody, good guy with the gun,
law enforcement officer, anybody to react to beforehand because he's
just opening fire from a distance. But then if he
entered the facility and continued to shoot, that's where having
somebody can steel carry might have made a difference.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
But I don't know how you know. This is where
you need to know the timeline. I don't know how
quickly this guy shot himself in the back of the church.
I don't know what exactly happened. We'll find out more
about this, but it's just it's just the most awful thing,
and it's uh, you know, it's tough to play, even
even to be in our This is the one of
those days where to be in the in the world
of talking about the news is emotionally and spiritually challenging, honestly,
(14:26):
because there's no there's no way to make this better
for people, and I wish that there was.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, And I think again, from the parent perspective, I
think you're experiencing this now differently as everyone who becomes
a mom and dad is when you hear this story.
I mean, I've got a ten year old. A lot
of you out there have ten year olds, have eight
year olds, have kids, grandkids, And again, I think you
(14:52):
could hear it in the police officer's voice as he's
trying to describe what exactly happens. So we'll continue to
update you on this again. Minneapolis. Two young kids tragically
killed while they were sitting in church pews this morning
by a deranged, lunatic mass shooter in Minneapolis, a city
that has certainly had its share of awfulness. And we'll
(15:16):
also update you on the need to continue to hire
more police officers to do our best to try to
limit all of these different incidents. In the meantime, more
than fifteen million PayPal users have had their online credentials
allegedly stolen by cyber thieves, supposedly credentials now for sale
on the dark web, but PayPal disputes there's been a breach.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Welcome again, Clay Travis buck Sexton Show. Let me give
you more updates on the awful news coming out this morning,
because we are still waiting to see exactly the outcome
for the people who were taken. This is taken to
the hospital. Eleven patients according to Hennepen Healthcare in Minneapolis,
(16:55):
nine kids ages six to fourteen. Four kids required hired
emergency surgery and are listed as critical. Right now, we'll
have that audio for you, but just fyi, I mean
that means they got hit with bullets pretty much, so
they got hit Just FYI want to update you with
that and if you want to pray for those that
(17:17):
are still receiving treatment. We'll play that audio again the
emergency medicine at the medical facility in Minneapolis. The director
has spoken, we'll play that audio for you.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Won't come back the again.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
You know, this is something we went through a lot
of this back in the CIA days, and we were
talking about trauma wounds from from bullets and essentially clay.
If you're in the hospital and you're hitting an extremity
of chances are you're going to be okay. So the
ones who are critical will probably hit either in the
admin or the head. Now the fact that they're still
in critical condition means that there's no hope for them.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
But it's it's a that's very serious obviously.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
So so many parents waking up to that news right now.
We will continue to update you in the meantime. You
can switch your cell phone service to Puretalk get a
nationwide five G service instead of AT and T, T
Mobile or Verizon. Because pure Talk utilizes same tower, same
networks as one of those companies' differences, they charge much
(18:18):
less for a similar service. Right now, you can get
a brand new Samsung Galaxy from Puretalk with a qualifying
plan starting at just thirty five bucks a month, unlimited talk, text,
fifteen gigs of data, and a mobile hotspot, all on
America's most dependable five G network. You can switch to
just pure Talk for just thirty five bucks a month.
(18:39):
Here's how you do it. Dial pound two five zero,
say Clay and Buck to make the switch to pure
Talk today. That is pound two five zero, say Clay
and Buck.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
All right, welcome back into Clay and Buck. Appreciate you
all being with us. Look, we have had the horrible
news this morning that we look, this is a news
show first and Forema, we got to tell you what's
going on in the country and bring you to truth,
bring you to facts, all the latest information.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
We will continue to do that.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
On this shooting at the Annunciation Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota,
and we know that two children have been killed. It's
absolutely heartbreaking. There's nothing I don't know, nothing more horrific.
I don't really have the words. We make a living
with words, and I don't really have the words for
how terrible it is for these two young children to
(19:27):
be killed while they're in a church on their first
day of school. There are other children who are in
the hospital. A handful of them are critical, which indicates
to me very likely they were actually hit by rifle
rounds from this shooter. The identity of the shooter has
been shared, is being shared now broadly online. I don't
right now, Clay, I think, well, right now, it's just
(19:49):
the only thing that I would be comfortable sharing based
on what we are seeing is it appears to be
a white male that that I can say to you,
and we will give you more as we have more
and our own. Carol Markowitz, I think, is one of
the first to break the name and background and photo
(20:10):
of the I guess we still say alleged even when
the person's dead. So the alleged shooter, but the person
that killed himself in the back of this church after
the mass murder. So, Clay, Now I think we're going
to get closer to a conversation about what was what
could have been done to prevent this. I honestly believe
(20:31):
I'm somebody who is very attuned to let's focus on
what really could help. There's very little with somebody clearly
as evil and mentally ill as this individual was. There's
very little in this scenario that I could see that
would make it markedly different. Maybe quicker response time from
someone inside the church, But now you're getting into you're
(20:53):
getting into seconds because they say that he fired fifty
to one hundred rounds with a semi automatic rifle. I mean,
it's a couple of magazines, and that's not.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Hard to do if you're just shooting as many rounds
as you can.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
One of the things that will be interesting to see
is was this person on any sort of watch list,
did they legally get access to their weapons? What did
the family know or not know about the mental illness
which is often the case involved in this shooter, all
of those things. Let's play buck for those of you
(21:29):
out there that are seeking updates on the kids. This
is from the emergency room doctor that I just read
a couple of quotes from. But this has cut thirty
updating you on those wounded in including several critical kids
fighting critical condition, kids fighting for their lives.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Let's listen to this.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
We are a lovel one trauma center and we prepare,
we trained for this. Having said that that, these incidents
are never easy, We've had two in the last twenty
four hours that have occurred casually incidents. The one today
we received a total of eleven patients from this incident.
Two of them were adult patients, nine pediatric patients. Four
(22:12):
of them require the operating room, and up to this
point in time, there have been no fatalities related to
any of those patients that were brought to our organization.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
I mean, that's under the circumstances, very encouraging news that
there hasn't been a fatality yet because it means that
they've certainly stopped the bleeding clay in these cases, so
no one's bleeding out now they're in the hospital stable.
The question becomes internal organ damage. You know, that's and
we don't know the extent of that for these young people.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
Positive there what he just said, four required surgery, which
would suggest Buck, you were talking about this earlier, that
maybe some of these other injuries are not necessarily gunshots.
Maybe there's glass, maybe there were cuts, maybe there are
things that did not require There could have been a
stampede inside the church where remember some of these are
small children, so very very easy for one of them
(23:02):
to get caught under people who are just desperate to
get away from the gunfire, and maybe you know, dislocate
a shoulder or have other injuries like which again painful, scary, terrifying.
But anything that's not a gunshot wound here is going
to be clearly survivable. And it seems that based on
what the the emergency room doctor here is talking about
her in this case, I guess the oar surgeon's talking
(23:24):
about Clay. If only four needed surgery, I think we're
only dealing with four gunshot wounds, and God willing and hey,
prayers up everybody, all four will make it through and
they'll be okay. The conversation, not surprisingly, has already spread
on CNN literally instantly to gun control. And I do
(23:47):
want to play this because do you think it's important
for you guys to understand what would you be.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Hearing if you're not listening to this program.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Here is CNN's Evan Perez saying a semi auto rifle
can shoot dozens of bullets with just one trigger. Pull
a lot of you out there. I mean, this is
very basic stuff. If you're going to go on and
immediately turn this into a gun debate, maybe get a
little bit of your gun knowledge, just correct. But this
(24:16):
is what you would have heard on CNN literally within
minutes of this story breaking cut thirty one.
Speaker 7 (24:21):
It was really disturbing to hear what the man we
heard from from the affiliate said about how long it
went on. He said, there were several minutes. Now we
don't know if that was just from the shooter, or
if law enforcement had arrived by then, or the circumstances
around that, but he said it sounded like the gun
was reloaded several times. It seemed like a rifle, he said,
(24:42):
a semi automatic rifle. And it went on for several minutes.
Speaker 8 (24:45):
Right, And that's an uncommon as well. These things can
shoot dozens of bullets, you know, in just one trigger pull, right,
And so what happens in this case is sometimes they
have enough time to reload.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
He has no idea what he's talking about. He's a
justice reporter over at CNN, by the way, so you'd
think he might know something about this. I remember that
guy from when I was at CNA. He just has
no He has no familiarity with firearms whatsoever. I mean, Clay,
this is another thing when when these stories were when
any story of firearm involved in violence comes up, it's
a reminder that people on the right actually know firearms
(25:23):
and understand them. You know, I would put myself in
maybe the top five percentile of all Americans when it
comes to understanding of guns. Maybe they to one percentile.
And we have people listening to us who are former
Special operations military who are in the point zero zero
one percent of Americans when it comes to their understanding, expertise,
and familiarity with firearms. So going well beyond mine. People
(25:47):
at CNN just don't know a darn thing about any
of this stuff. And when I say people, I don't
mean a couple of them, I mean all of them.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
They are.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
This is a strange thing, but it is consistent where
Democrats have very very strong opinions on firearms and are
never embarrassed to know nothing about firearms. I mean to
have an absolutely This is where we get the whole
chainsaw bayonet thing with USA today, and this is where
they'll talk about like automatic machine bazookahs and they have
(26:14):
no idea what they are talking about and feel like
they should still be able to weigh in on this
and tell actual firearms Second Amendment individuals that they can't
have guns or they need to change this, or they're
bad or basically they're bad people. That's what they really
want to tell them. We don't know if the gun
was illegal purchase or not. We don't know if it
(26:36):
was stolen. We don't know any of that. So any
discussion of gun policy or firearms policy right now is
just a complete you know, it's just just throwing something
at the wall and it has no bearing on actual
law or statute. So yeah, but they'll try clay this
will turn into a gun violence debate. I mean, I
think most likely it'll be a mental health discussion based
(26:58):
on this who this individual vidual Is did, and there
will probably be flags that were missed. This is, unfortunately,
I think, where there will be somebody said, hey, you
know I wanted to I turn I told somebody about
this guy. I thought he was really dangerous, and then
law enforcement maybe did a knock at his door and
they couldn't do it. My analysis of this is that's
(27:19):
likely where this is heading. And or mom and dad,
and this is where I always come back to it.
A lot of moms and dads of these shooters know
they should not have access to weapons, and they end
up having access to weapons and Buck. We'll dive into
this a little bit more as we're going to commercial
break here, but I just texted you some early reports
(27:40):
on the shooter, and I think this is what happened.
It's beginning to look early days, early moments, very similar
to what happened in the Covenant School shooting in Nashville.
Who the shooter was, what the motivation might have been. Again,
if this is confirmed, this store is about to become
(28:02):
incredibly It's already horrific and bloody and evil, but it's
going to become politically very contentious with the way the
media is going to report on it, with the way
that people are going to position the uh, you know,
the aftermath of what can be done about it. But
we we got to be solid on this stuff, Clay.
So we're going to continue to chase down these facts
(28:24):
as we go, uh and and bring you the updates

Speaker 5 (30:15):
Trump highlights from the week Somedays at noon Eastern in
the klan Bug podcast speed find it on the iHeartRadio
app or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Okay, welcome back in. We are getting more and more
news about the shooter. Try to avoid saying the shooter's name, uh,
because that's what these guys want and sometimes gals, but
they're This guy had a YouTube channel that has since
been taken down, but there are many pictures being taken
(30:48):
and shared online, including of the gun itself on and
it appears that this is another trans shooter, not dissimilar
to what happened at the Covenant School in the Nashville area.
Written on the gun barrel is kill Donald Trump, rip
(31:14):
and tear written on the gun magazine. This is pretty awful.
I'm just sharing with you. Where is your God? Why
so querious? Pretty awful? Carol Markowitz joins us. Now, Carol,
(31:36):
we're trying to avoid sharing this guy's name.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
I know you shared it.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Of the pictures and everything else, it appears, based on
all the evidence out there, that this is a Christian
targeted shooting by someone who clearly is mentally unstable. Based
on the videos and the pictures out there, what can
you tell us about this individual so far that you've
been able to uncover from your sources.
Speaker 9 (32:01):
You know, it's all developing. And of course it took
a little while for them to clear the building because
it was several buildings. They were worried about things being
booby trapped. And so I can tell you that the
original name that I had heard was actually his father's name,
because he had had his father's car. I don't know
(32:21):
if there's a manifesto yet. I see the same rumors
that you guys do, but I haven't had that confirmed yet.
It's a horrible story, and it really crushes me to
imagine that somebody had such hate in their hearts. For
these you know, Catholic children and school officials, that they
(32:42):
would do something like this, and it's a horrible tragedy.
I pray for all the people involved. And there's just
no words.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
Carol, how much have you seen that is solid on
the reporting? Again, this goes to motive and motivation for
this also, First of all, is it your belief right now?
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Would would you?
Speaker 2 (33:03):
I know, we don't know, but the shooting yesterday and
the shooting today, they're they're the same shooter most likely, right.
Why aren't law enforcement making this connection?
Speaker 9 (33:13):
Yeah, I haven't. I haven't heard about whether that there
is a connection. It seems to me related, but I
don't know for sure.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
I know that also, you know, I mean, it's just
to be clear for everybody. It's two mass shootings at
two Catholic institutions with a with a semi automatic rifle,
I mean, in the same area.
Speaker 9 (33:32):
Yeah, And the fact that this connection hasn't been made,
I don't know what to make of that. I'm going
to definitely keep you posted if I hear it of anything.
And you know, these pictures of whether this person was
Trands or not, there's also a question mark there definitely
seems seems to be just based on the photos I've seen,
but I also don't have a confirmation of that. I
(33:53):
think as things develop, as a fact develop of this case,
we'll learn more. Right now, we just have the pictures
of the weapons and the pictures of this individual, and
really things are still very much developing.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
There are pictures out there of this guy at a
gun range firing at an image of Jesus. He had
a YouTube page that has since been removed that has
a manifesto of sorts posted clearly this guy is deranged. Carol,
You've been on the front of getting a lot of
(34:30):
these stories out there in terms of figuring out motivation, shooters,
all these different things. What comes next in your experience
of an investigation like this. I presume they had to
wherever his residence is, worry about booby traps, things like that,
to try to figure out what else might be out there.
Is that typically the next step.
Speaker 9 (34:52):
Yeah, absolutely, I think that they're likely searching his home
right now and trying to find evidence of motive. And like,
as you guys said, it's clear that this person was
mentally not well. And it's crazy also because a lot
of this is very public, right there's these you know,
the video and the picture of him shooting at the
(35:13):
Jesus Christ picture. All that kind of stuff is out there,
and it's interesting because what are the next steps that
we need to take at a society And when we
come across stuff like this, what should be the next
step when law enforcement gets a tip about somebody being unstable?
I think that that's something that Trump administration can look
at and say, you know, we keep having these tells
(35:36):
of these shooters in advance, what should we do? How
should we handle?
Speaker 3 (35:39):
That?
Speaker 9 (35:40):
Could be a really interesting path for the Trump administration
to take.
Speaker 8 (35:45):
Er.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
I appreciate you being with us.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Incredible reporting that you do in these incidents and to
get the information the facts out there as quickly as possible.
And I mean to me, the longer they delay on
the whether these two incidents are it just seems to
me like law enforcement doesn't I mean, some assspecs of this.
They just don't want to get out there quickly. But Carol,
thank you for being with us. You guys know, Carol
has a podcast with us. Thanks Carol. Carol has a
podcast with us. Carol mark Wood Show. She was fantastic work.
(36:10):
Go subscribe to the Playbuck podcast to hear Carol weekly
and one of the best. Honestly, Clay one of the
best breaking news reporters on mass shootings in the country.
And that's not even something that I think she's you know,
she's known for her but that's not her day to
day job. But she just has incredible law enforcement sources.
She's a huge asset to this program. Claire, let's come
(36:31):
back in and talk more about this. I mean, this
is I think we're going to find that these shootings
are connected, and I think that the trans connection to
this is going to get bigger and bigger
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Which means that a lot of people are not gonna
want you to hear any of the details that we're
talking about right now.
