Speaker 1 (00:01):
Bold, reverence and occasionally random. The Sunday Hang podcast, it
starts now, either.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
One of us claimed to be fashion icons. I think
that's that's fair, very fair. We have we do have
access to mirrors, and we are we recognize we're not
fashion icon. However, however, I am surprised at how intense
the debate has gotten over this New York Post story

(00:30):
because I weighed in on this one that the the
favorite of the early two thousands, jorts as in gene
shorts are now quote summer's hottest style trend. I've got
to tell you, I'm not a jorts guy, but it
turns out a lot of people will will die on

(00:53):
that hill for jorts. They're big gjorts fans. Where do
you come down on this?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I'm very anti jorts in salt in The sec has
always been that Florida Gator fans wear jorts. This is
one of the things that would be leveled against the
Florida Gator fan base. There are two trends of late
that have come back that I am one hundred percent
opposed to. One is jeorts. Second, but the one that
I'm super opposed to, and I don't know if it's
still popular or not.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Mom jeans, yes, high waisted.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Baggy mom jeans. It's an atrosse, probably the worst fashion
trend of all women.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
You're being lied to.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
This is a bad look, and I knows here it
looks tear back eighties jeans. Nobody looks good at them.
You're this is an awful choice. It's the only thing
that I could say.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
I remember when gaucho pants I believe they were called
oh yeah, kind of like wide legged shorts that go
down past your knees. That was cool for a minute,
and I was like, that looks horrible too, Ladies. Stay
away from the giant wide leg mom jeans, big hips,
way up top. Not a good look, not an ideal move.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Sunday hang with Clay and Bucks.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
How is the swamp Clay? You are in the swamp
right now? Are you in an air boat or do
you just go around in uh like you're you know,
welli's I don't know what you call them, like the
rubber boots. What do you call them in the Actually
you don't even have them. Probably in Tennessee rain boots, Yeah,
I guess rain boots, same idea.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I've never I've never owned any rain gear.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Ever, but I understand some people out there are like, oh,
I've got to have a raincoat.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
I don't even own an umbrella. You're just occasionally gonna
get a little bit wet. Deal with it. That's my
theory on the rain.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
The swamp here, I would say is first of all,
the weather's been fabulous. But the couple of things that
I thought were interesting. One I took my son, who's sixteen,
around You can see all of in Lafayette Square, Lafayette Park.
So many of these the faced monuments you can still see.
They've been trying to clean them, but all the graffiti

(02:59):
is still there. The other thing I will say, as
I mentioned Monday, they were having the Juneteenth celebration. As
we were walking around the park, my son and I,
we passed a couple of Secret Service agents and they
are big fans.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
So I I it was it was great.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
You know, we're walking across I guess Constitution AB whatever
it is down near the down near the mall, and
as we're walking by, a couple of Secret Service agents
are set up there and they stopped us, and I
thought like, oh is this area restricted? Are we allowed
to continue to walk through there? And one of the

(03:40):
Secret Service agents that is one that initially stopped us said, Hey,
Clay big fan Govalls, he's a Tennessee fan. He's from
the state at Tennessee. And then we stopped and talked
to him for a while, and uh, I think it
was just kind of interesting. My son enjoyed that conversation too,
But I think it's interesting too for our audience to
remember there are lots of people who love America and

(04:03):
are going to give their life to protect, even someone
that they might not want to vote for themselves. And
I don't know that that thought is crystallizing Secret Service.
There are so many amazing Secret Service agents who will
put their lives on the line every single day, even
if they themselves may not agree with what the people

(04:27):
they're representing are doing, because they love this country so
much they're willing to give their lives to protect its leaders.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I remember talking to Special Operations guys in Afghanistan at
the start, or you know, the early days of the
Obama administration, and let me just say a lot of
the tip of the Spear specops guys weren't huge Obama fans,
but but they're like, he's a commander in chief, we
have a mission. We do the mission, you know, so
that attitude is still alive and well in America today,

(04:56):
which is something worth.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Remembering Sundays with Clay and Buck.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
You know who I bet did not have a cup
of Crockett coffee. Buck are good, buddy. Chuck Schumer, who
decided that he was going to celebrate Father's Day by
bragging about his grilling skills, he now has had to
delete the post you mentioned it off the top a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Schumer, who is the.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Probably would you say, the most competent democrat in America
in terms of actually holding office and being able to
wield power. I know that Joe Biden is President of
the United States, but his mental faculties, as we've been
discussing and will continue to discuss this program and beyond,
are certainly in question. I think, Chuck Schumer, if you

(05:44):
were pointing to a democratic, Keem Jefferies is not the speaker.
Nancy Pelosi has stepped down. Kamala Harris is a disaster.
I think you'd actually have to kind of by default
come to Schumer and say, of democrats and positions of power,
the most competent is that a crazy position?

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Or would you sign on to that.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
I know, I mean, you know, it's like it's like
choosing the best way to get your hand chopped.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Off like this.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
I mean, I'm trying to think, Yeah, I get, you know,
it's it's not an ideal question. But the fact that he,
who I think would suffice on that answer, like who
is the most competent democrat and leadership position, is so
unable on Father's Day to just have a normal post.
For those of you who didn't see it, he clearly

(06:29):
has no idea how to grow. And I'm not claiming
to be the grill master, but I wouldn't post a
photo of myself bragging about my grilling and having I'm
gonna tell you some things wrong.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
And Carrie, she's I think she's actually on her way
to Costco right now, so Heaven knows, actually Heaven knows
what that bill is going to look like. No matter
how big the bill is, she's saving me money. That's
the amazing thing about Costco. She spends five hundred bucks
at Costco, but she saved me three hundred in spending
the five hundred. You see, this is the this is
Costco for those of you.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
What actually on TikTok girl math. My wife is an
expert in girl math. She comes back from a sale
and lets me know that she saved me a bundle
of money despite the fact that she has spent a ton.
That's how girl math on cost on TikTok, I'm told works.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
So I had to dinner. We went out. You know,
we don't go out that much. I would say, I
like staying home.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
I'm really like, I like I like my wife, ginger
pajama pants, my ginger tea, no relation to the dog,
just I like the flavored ginger tea. That's like my
ideal night. We went out, though, And I'll tell you
the problem you mentioned, the girl master issue. I just
make better steaks at home. Now, then you can get
at ninety percent of places that serve steak, maybe even

(07:41):
ninety five percent.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
What is a stake that you make for yourself cost
versus what you pay out?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Like, what is it? I don't even know the answer
to this. We have what butchers stay cost? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, I mean we have two butchers we go down here.
I'd say, if you're getting a good cut of meat,
you can do it for whatever the steakhouse price is.
If it's a particularly prize piece of meat, you're probably
paying about a third of what the cost actually is.
And and you know, but pretty safe territory, it's half.

(08:11):
It's like half the price. I mean, if a steak
at your local restaurant, you know, your local steakhouse cost
you fifty bucks, you should be able to do it
for like twenty at home. You know, I think that's
a pretty fair so, you know, because look, they got
to pay for the labor and the restaurant everything else.
But you know, you're you're definitely way down the scale.
But once you get good at making your own steaks
at home, man, I'm telling you it's tough. It's tough

(08:32):
out there because I think I know, I'm trying to
It's like I'm tying it all into inflation everything else.
I think places are cutting back on the quality of
the meat they're buying. I think people are cutting corners
in places. Now. We were at a very nice restaurant
and meat was tough. It was tough steak and it
should not have been. And I've had this in a
number of places now. You know, the thing you really
don't want with steak is too fatty or too chewy.

(08:55):
I don't know if anyone else is noticing this. I'm
finding more and more restaurants I go to. I think
there's skimping on the meat. And that's why I like
making the meat at home.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Yeah, I mean that wouldn't shock me at all because
the cost for so many of these restaurants has skyrocket
and I have to imagine what how many people can
afford it?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Well, well, look at when you talk about what a
cost to serve your friend, you're going to have your
family Chick fil A?

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Right, Chick fil A?

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Those places they serve exactly the same product at exactly
the same level. So it's a really good indicator of inflation.
You go into a restaurant, they're saying, oh, we're giving
you a New York strip?

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Is it? Choice? Is it? You know?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Where are we at grade A or are we dry age?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
And you add all these things in. I'm telling you
there should be like a steak inflation counter out there,
because I'm the steaks are not as good. They're lowering
the steaks.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
You could say, Sunday drop with Clay Buck.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Steven Santa Barbara.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
What's going on, Steve?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Not much? How are you guys?

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Doing fantastic good good.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Hey, So Friday, you guys had that conversation about Crockett coffee. Okay,
well and best Parker and they're a little I'll make
it a little short story. So my daughter is Dus
Parker's granddaughter and she had a baby on Friday when
like right before you guys were talking about this, and

(10:14):
they just happened to text me the name of the
baby coming in and uh said his name was Crockett
Cooper Tody. I thought, this is really crazy, man, you
guys are talking about your coffee. My daughter, Dus Parker's
granddaughter just had a baby named Crockett.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
That is awesome. So this is fest Parker's great grandson.
Is that the way the genealogy would work here? Yes,
And they named him Crockett because the grandfather, the great grandfather,
played Davy Crockett in the in the shows back in
the day. That is really cool. Well, congratulations to her,
by the way, on the new baby, and thank you

(10:50):
for calling on the story. And by the way, if
you want to celebrate the birth of this new baby
and many other great things going on in life, you
should be drinking crocketoffee dot com.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Good at Crocketcoffee dot Com. Subscribe Clay, I've got the
organic roast and the blonde roast to.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Taste here at home.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
So we're gonna be rolling those products out soon. And
remember ten percent of the profits goes to Tunnel to
Towers Foundation. So a good cause, great coffee, and a
great American brand in the making, or if you will,
are reimagining of an American legend via crock At Coffee.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Well you mentioned I mean again, I'm a history nerd,
so I love reading about the Alamo and the Battle
of San Jacento and everything else. And you were discussing
the Comanches and how many people they raped, murdered and
just just absolutely defiled throughout the state of Texas. I mean,
this was a big thing, and I think it's important
to mention for what you did, all of the Mexican
settlers were dealing with the same kinds of issues all

(11:46):
throughout the early eighteen hundreds. The amount of terror that
was being rained down by the Commanche tribe is unprecedented, really,
I mean, and.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
It basically stops the expansion I mean with the entire
American Southwest in some ways is the American Southwest and
not something else because the Spanish with their missionary approach
couldn't couldn't even begin to hold back the the predatory
Uh you know, there were sort of predatory raids of

(12:18):
of the Comanche, and so eventually the Spanish were just like, look,
we got to bring in these crazy, these crazy Scots
Irish guys to take over this era.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
We need a buffer state between what had you.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Know, were the United States and US, but also because
of the Comanche, and that turned out to be Texans,
and the Texans were like, yeah, we're gonna stay and
we're not going to allow these raids to continue anymore.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
But when you read about what.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
The Comanche did and the way that they kind of
conducted warfare, I mean, it's barbarous on a level that
they just they won't tell you about this in school
because we're all supposed to think that the Native American
tribes were just entirely victims in this whole process. And
read commanche By.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
T r Fare and Bach everybody.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
It is so good and it starts at the very
beginning of the colonial settlement of America, takes you all
the way through.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
It's amazing.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Texas Rangers are right now the defending World Series champs.
You know, the woke tried to get the name changed
because the baseball team is named after the Rangers who
helped to settle and protect the state of Texas. And
you know what Texans said, to hell with y'all. They
would not allow that to happen, but they did. They
came for the name of the of the Texas Ranger franchise.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Sunday Sizzle with Clay and Bus.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
I want to say thank you, by the way, to
everyone that I met in Omaha.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Some of you may have seen a video.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
They have a great jell O shot challenge at a
bar called Rockos right by the Omaha Field, the Charles
Schwab Field there where they're going to be playing the
Game three to decide the National Championship between Tennessee and
Texas A and M.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Tonight.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Volunteers or Aggie's, one of those fan bas is going
to be ecstatic. Come about what about ten thirty or
eleven o'clock eastern tonight.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
So if you know Valls or Aggi's get ready for that.

Speaker 3 (14:09):

were absolutely fabulous Tennessee fans, Texas A and M fans
listeners on KFAB in Omaha. Truly, I had my family

(14:30):
all of you and be able to see.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
You face to face. Without fail.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
This is the best audience of any media outlet that
I have ever experienced in America. I think it is
the absolute best. Your kindness, your generosity, not just to
me but to my family as well. Thank you so much.
Just a tremendous weekend Saturday and Sunday spending Omaha fabulous city.
I know we're number one in the marketplace there on
KFAB Thanks to all of you out there listening. Hopefully

(14:58):
you're not going to give your electoral vote to Joe Biden.
Hopefully all of you are going to show up and
make sure Trump gets that electoral vote because it could
be very, very significant. There's polls out there that Shoe
Biden winning two seventy to two sixty eight in the
electoral College because of that Omaha district. So make sure
you get out and vote. Appreciate all of you. Go

(15:19):
Valls win that national title. Sorry, Aggie's it's the ball's time.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
