to welcome the greatest producer in all the land, Danny g.
He's on the phones eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
(01:40):
He has the nervous farts because his Raiders play tonight.
But it's Pete Carroll's birthday. It's his seventy fourth birthday.
I think they're playing for Pete oh b birthday. Did
you see that the story where Pete Carroll when he
introduced himself to the team, he came out like a
WWE wrestler, kicked over a I erase board and he
(02:01):
had he had like almost like a mucho mad old
school speech. But I call this a do it for Johanny,
do for Jazz, for Peed. They're doing it for PD
because he's old. How many more birthdays this guy asked, So,
I mean, I hope a lot more too, but let's
be realistic. One counts as my point. Yeah, I'm not
wishing anything ban on him. He's extremely healthy and he
(02:21):
looks great, but he's old. So they're playing hard for
PD tonight against the Chargers. And I also want to
welcome the guy who's smiling extra wide because well, his
Lions were dominant this weekend. But maybe the Bears just
stated every time they touched the ft, they score. What's
both things can be true the Bears can stink in
(02:42):
the and the Lions the Bears might be ass I'm
not sure. Boy, you know prefet I think, uh, the Lions,
because they had a rough week one against the Packers.
Everyone was very quick to like sort of move him
down the power rankings in their mind. But yo, yesterday
you're like, oh, yeah, the Lions are pretty freaking there,
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, and flipping that on its head.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
There was a lot of inspill the last week or so,
as like, oh, can Jared Goff be good without Ben Johnson?
Let me ask something, can Ben Johnson be good without.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Jared Goh You flip the scripture and you know Jared
Goff when it gets to things that made you go,
which is how we kick off every Monday, Cavino, Rich,
I'm gonna have written down right here Jared Goff defending
the Ben Johnson chance. Is that why you're rocking the
Honolulu Blue today? You know I have your team Goff,
Rich is rocking the Blue today. And by the way,
(03:30):
I want to welcome Dan Byer to the show. Gram
program also has a smile because that was the one
game I got wrong. I picked the Steelers. I apologize
your Seahawks promise.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Yes, you then probably plan for a botched kickoff, but
that changed the tone of the game everything, yes, and.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
It's all about setting the tone, and that wasn't a
good one. So congrats to Dan, Seahawks. Hope you had
a Seahawks sort of weekend. And that brings us to
what Rich already said, something we do every Monday called
things that made you go, things that make you go,
things that make you goal. Now, before we dive into
(04:09):
other baseball nonsense and everything else that's going on in
sports entertainment, in twelve games left in Major League Baseball.
So we are going to touch on a little baseball today,
don't you are. It is everything that you observed over
the weekend in entertainment but football, mostly things that made
you scratch your noggin, things that made you go hmmm,
your observations. We get you involved. We break it down
(04:30):
every Monday here on the show. So write this down
and be part of it. Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. That's our number. Danny G's on standby waiting
just to say hi, eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox and everything at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.
Your observations. Let's get into it. Can I start? Let's gone.
I think that Giants, fans, Giants' front office members, giants coaching,
(04:54):
everyone on the brass. Everyone should thank Russell Wilson because
by performing the way he did, even in a loss,
they are now in a position way they don't have
to jump the gun and ruin Jackson Dart the way
they ruined Daniel Jones. Because if Russ had a stinker
yesterday and Russ wasn't bringing it, then there would have
(05:16):
been more and more like come on, Jackson Dart go
accident Dart, and they would have rushed him. And he
saw what happened when they rushed Daniel Jones. You saw
what happened when the Jets rushed Zach Wilson. You see
what happens when these teams rush players. And I think
the longer Russ could show that, yeah, I'm the guy
for now. It gives Jackson Dart more time to sit, chill, learn,
(05:38):
and by having an almost five hundred yard day throwing
like he throwing dimes to molik neighbors and really just
having that winning old school Russ attitude like faucy youth,
credit to neighbors for just finding the ball. He has
a great ability to do that jump up and get it.
But Wilson forger fifty yards, undeniably great, three touchdowns and
(05:58):
the unfortunate pick at the end. But I don't think
anyone is talking smack about Russell Wilson and his performances
past weekend. But I can tell you they had that
game in the bag. The underlying the underlying message there
was all right, they could stick with Russ longer. No, absolutely,
He's solid, And I think that gives you know, because
(06:20):
our giant fans now saying, come on, put Dart in there.
That narrative gets paused a big time. That pick was unfortunate.
Neighbors celebrating a little prematurely also bad luck. But he
also had a great game. They got some great potential
with the Giants. They looked a lot better this week.
That's the positive there. So three touchdowns from Wilson, one
(06:41):
hundred and sixty seven yards from Neighbors, two touchdowns for him,
but the Cowboys pulled it out at the end in
overtime forty thirty seven. So Rich is right. Biggest observation
there is Russell Wilson looks good enough. He looked great
this weekend, but good enough to stick around, give some
breathing rooms. So there's no there's no urgency, there's no
there's no like man, he's the hill. You gotta get
(07:01):
Dart or someone in there. That narrative could be shut
down for weeks. I think rest still has some game left.
Neighbors is the guy, which exactly what I had written
to You know what it this does? You know me,
I'm always scheduled watching This lines up a really interesting
primetime game next week. You're always ass watching who you kidding?
And you do. That is true. You're beauty kas And
(07:22):
I see Rich at the gym. He's not watching the game,
He's watching the cheeks on the treadmill. How do you
get inspired? No, but next week, if you want to
look ahead to Week three of the NFL, this is
a game that you know, looking back, you'd be likeh
this is sort of a throwaway game. Why are they
making this primetime? But Sunday night football? Chiefs at Giants
(07:44):
next week? Two oho and two teams the Giants expectedly
oh and two, the Chiefs oh and two playing with desperation.
But Russ coming off of that big game. I think
that's going to be really interesting. I really do. Well.
The Chiefs are kind of looking buns, as they say,
right now. And it's not just on two. I think, yeah,
it's on and three if you figure in last season.
(08:05):
And that's a first for Mahomes. So there is some
desperation or some urgency to way to turn it around
if you haven't seen it yet, But can I tell
you an observation, Yeah, it's not on my homes. You know,
he's still got that magic in him. He's still making
these cool Mahomes like plays. He hit Kelsey right in
(08:26):
the numbers. Kelsey's head didn't turn around fast enough to
make that play. If he did, it would have been
a different game. But it's not on Mahomes. It's like
little things that used to go their way just aren't.
And that's three in a row for them when you
factor in last year. So I think a little urgency
to beat the Giants next week if you haven't seen
it yet. If you have, you can still play along,
but points spread for next Sunday night. Where's your instinct?
(08:49):
Without looking? Who was favored him?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
By?
Speaker 1 (08:51):
How much? Chiefs at Giants? Chiefs favored Chiefs at Giants right,
Chiefs favored going to MetLife? I'd say by just by
a touchdown. You're close six and a half. Do you
like the Chiefs putting a whooping on the Giants or
do you feel like the Chiefs woes continuing? It's a
close game, we turn the corner. I don't think they're
done by any means, but I'm saying, like they played,
(09:13):
you know, some tough games. This is like an urgent
statement game. Well they don't want to start owing three, no,
But I'm saying, dude, well they do. They beat the
Giants or do they Yeah, hold the Giants, No, I
think they beat them. Just buy like a touchdown ten points? Okay,
that's what I think. Thought it was an interesting line
coming out of I'm like, oh, I wonder what it's
going to be. I wasn't sure to be honest like
I but the Giants don't stink. I think that's what
(09:35):
we got out of this game, because it was a
really even Danny Jeers like, yo, man, you're watching this game.
It was an exciting game. Giants Cowboys. Giants always tough
against the Cowboys. It was a good one.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
You don't forget to give Aubrey a lot of credit.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
What first kicker to ever kick one to send the
game into overtime and then get the kick to win
the game.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
And speaking of kickers, I think it's interesting to see
that the cults are too and oh here with the
image Daniel Jones before oh that when it went to
rushing quarterbacks, it seems like everything's working out for this
guy right now. And that's what a change of scenery
could do. You know, was he always a decent player
with great potential? Probably, but he was doing out there
(10:18):
with a team that stinks. Now he's in a different scene,
a different setting. He's thriving, he's throwing dimes and he's
getting lucky breaks. And that's kind of what happened against
Denver this weekend. I know it's so early, but Dan Byer,
is your instinct that that Denver loss, which for twenty
seconds we thought was a win, could that play a
factor in the postseason? And we look back and be like,
(10:39):
you are you remember like week two when that Denver
had the win. That penalty could be big.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
It could be because that's a game that if you're
Denver you look on the schedule that you go and win.
I think it could be doubly big because of the
AFC South. Here, the Colts are sitting there at two
and zero, and granted they started with two home games,
but win against the Broncos wasn't Maybe cards Daniel Jones
has lived up to everything that he's hasn't been in
the past so far, and so now we don't know
(11:08):
how good the Texans are. Jaguars we think are okay,
but maybe there's some flaws and Tennessee's got some growing pains.
So the Colts are right there so rich it made
me doubly to the point, not only with the Broncos,
but it could really helped the Colts, especially when it
comes to the AFC South.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
No doubt. And when you look at how Bronco fans
are probably thinking, we could have been two games up
on the Chiefs. We could have been two and out.
They would have been owned too. We would have had
shame memo, dude. They didn't score in the fourth quarter
at all, so you could say it all came down
to that.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, I missed the forty two yard field goal off
the upright.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah, but if you're not scoring, then that's on them
to be in that position in the first place. And
I'm so proud of you, he said, growing pains, And
you didn't make an Allen Thick reference. I'm shocked to
your room. Ben, I'm shocked, Maggie. No Mike seaver Boner reference.
So the Colts, I just think that Daniel Jones has
a different as the KIDDI say Aura about him with
(12:02):
this new squad, and they're getting calls that they never
seened or he never seemed to get before.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
And like Ben sever he does his best work under pressure.
Daniel Jones, I've said that all is that project being done.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
That's right, geezy receiver, doctor Jason sever will send you
to your room. So the Colts over the Broncos twenty
nine to twenty eight definitely stood out because you're like, wow,
that was a weird ending. I was like, Daniel Jones,
show me that smile again. Now I had this written
down too, Rich. You got sort of touched on it
(12:34):
already when we talked about Profet's Lions. If the Lions
turned our perception around in one week, is it safe
to say that Bears might be asked like are they
even ass category? Or would you still say that Dolphins
are more of the ass team in the league right now?
I think there's a few teams that just they were
(12:57):
hoping for. Oh maybe I think the Bears and Dolphins
are in the same category of like there was maybe like, well,
maybe this is the year we turn things around, or
like I think the Bear so maybe they'd get it
going this year and own two is not a great start,
especially when you're in a division where it's having lost
fifty two twenty one, right, I mean might be ass.
I thought they'd put up a bigger fight there, But
(13:18):
maybe the Lions were playing extra hard to show that
they still are the team to be reckoned with. I
don't know, but I had that written down. Bears might
be ass I think during the highlights I heard like,
you know, Tom Brady and Burkhart joking like, hey, you
say you say you want to be a head coach. Huh.
You know Ben Johnson sitting pretty running that offense at Detroit.
You know, you take on a head coaching job, like man,
(13:40):
you could have all the schemes and all the all
the know how and all the plays that you want.
But if the personnel's not there and you're just playing
better teams at the National Football League level, it's not automatic.
It's not like you just go in and win. You've
seen great coaches go in and not win. So something
else I had here, And by the way, this is
where we open it up to you Fox Sports Radiation.
(14:01):
Things that made you go hmmm, your observations from this
weekend in the world of football or whatever it as
you were doing watching just anything you observed things that
made you go hmm. I thought it was kind of
cool that the Ravens looked dominant, had an unproductive day
from Henry and we're still able to score forty one points.
(14:22):
He had twenty three yards. I have another observation as
far as Stars not being that productive. Buffalo Bill's put
a whooping on the Jets, but not from an offensive
putting up big numbers because Cavino is about to be
out of the Guillotine league here because yeah, I'm riding
on Josh Allen Bill's heavy, and they was very Bill's heavy.
They had a bad week, but that's that's the point,
(14:44):
Like you could have a bad week and still win.
That says a lot about your team. Derrick Henry had
eleven carries for twenty three yards and they still dominated
the Browns. I mean, I get it, it's the Browns,
but your main dude could be ye off and you
still find ways to win in dominant fashion. Got to
(15:04):
give props to the Ravens. And by the way, I
heard a stat before the show that Flocco had beaten
every team in the league except for somebody and the Ravens,
so it could have been one more notch closer to
doing that. I think that's a fun accomplishment to say
you beat every team and you hear when you hear,
(15:24):
like a home run hitter is like he's hit a
home run in every stadium except and you're like, really
that stadium, And I knew, yeah it was. It was
only two teams that he hadn't beaten, Ravens one of them,
and for obvious reasons, he you know, played there and
didn't get that any chances. I knew there was no chance.
I was like, well, it's not happening, not happening, so
good luck. But Derrick Henry off but the team's still on.
(15:45):
I think that's a good look. I think tonight. I
know it's not a thing to maybe go hmmm, because
it didn't happen yet, but tonight should be interesting because
the Raiders and Chargers both sit at one and zero
and well conventional wisdom and most people will be like, yeah, yeah,
tonight it's you know, Chargers are going in there is
only three and a half point favorites. Because I feel
(16:07):
there is a sense of like, well it is in Vegas,
and last week Pete Carroll had that team pretty fired up,
and they look better than some thought. But whoever wins
tonight is two games up on the chief. I think
we know the Raiders, I really do. Gino Smith looks
so good, he's so talented with Pete Carroll maybe are
Maybe they're just way better than we're realizing. And I'm
(16:29):
excited to see that. And I think you gotta remember
Harbaugh and Pete Carroll very reminiscent of Dan Bayer are
Seahawks Niners days. The two coaches are just now in
the AFC.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Yeahs, Carol, about you have any fond memories. But there
were some great memories. I mean there are some.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Not not one kind thing to say about their rivalry.
It was just like, we've had some good games against
each other.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I think he didn't want to be disrespectful and say
the NFC Championship game on the tipped Kaepernick pass, but
that would obviously be a highlight as well.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Yeah, my favorite was when uh Crabtree was called out
by Richard Truman an embarrassing fashion. That's a great memories,
an awkward moment for sure. That was that was you know,
two coaches. You know that that coaching rivalry continues tonight.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Yeah, you know that was the uh that what's your deal?
That was also the USC Stanford days, going back to
that rivalry.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Oh, speaking of the Raiders, I don't know if you
saw this. This is like a little side nugget, but
it made me say, hmm, sort of ties in. Tom
Brady said that he was going to make an announcement
today or tonight. Made me think of it because of
his Raiders deal. I said something he's been working on
for a real long time. Some sort of Tom Brady announcement.
(17:45):
Is it in the world of coaching, broadcasting not coaching,
opening a lot of gyms like TV twelve. Gim, I
wonder what that is. We do have an answer. Oh, yes,
we have an update. It's a new TV twelve smoothie. No,
it's breaking news. No, no, I I thought it was
like a later on tonight sort of announcement.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
It was. It's this is what Adam Schefter tweeted seven
minutes ago. Okay, tom Brady's coming out of retirement sort
of to join a list of NFL stars and others
for the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, a competitive flag football
tournament taking place in Saudi Arabia on March twenty first
of twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
And his involvement is more than just playing, I would
imagine based on what he said about he's been working
on it for a long time.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yes, and so Pete Carroll, Kyle Shanahan, and Sean Payton
will be coaching the three teams. Ceedee Lamb. Christian McCaffery
going to be a part of it as well.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Oh that's crazy. I just got to ask, how much
money do these sheikhs have? How do you announced the
other day WrestleMania going to Saudi Arabia. You saw over
the weekend. We haven't even got to Canelo and Crawford. Yeah,
but they put on that whole show in Vegas. You
saw the sheikhs and write there, mister beast ringside like
we are. You'll follow the money, and the money is
(19:05):
all bringing these big sporting events and all these spectacles
Saudi Arabia. Yeah, it's really changing the game. By the way,
that kind of what what is the announcement of letdown
or cool? I'm trying to figure that out.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
I thought it was like we all thought like there
was actually something and that this is kind of like, oh,
that's what it is. Is kind of like a gimmick
of marketing sort of.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yeah, we got Tom Brady coming out to play with
I mean, big games, don't flag damn buyer, Like I'm
kind of a letdown. Yeah, I know, it sounded kind
of cool. Actually, you never know positivity you have it
in today's world. Everybody loves the goofy spectacle. This is
the NFL saying yeah, we could do other things outside
of actual NFL. Sure caused some excitement. Maybe, I don't know.
(19:47):
People love flag football. That's true, that's true. Don't down
play that. It's big. I Wilston, your feedback, your phone calls.
Let's get it wrong on eight, seven, seven, nine nine
on Fox will take your feedback. Next, your big observations
from week two in the National Football League NFL Week
two and of course just the weekend baseball the fight,
Oh I hangmen brought up Ken Rosenthal yet and Ken
(20:08):
Rosen thought, we're gonna get to all that next right here,
caivin on Ritch on Fox Sports Radio. Hey it's me
Rob Parker.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
Check out my weekly MLB podcast, Inside the Parker for
twenty two minutes of piping hot baseball talk, featuring the

a favor and listen to Inside The Parker with Rob
(20:37):
Parker on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Just when you're feeling that bad case of the mondays
because no one wants to wake up early for work.
Yeah you realize, Oh man, we got two games tonight.
Sweet oh you know, feeling up to it? I have
a solution. Charlie Sheen told me to take an ice cube. Yeah, yeah,
save that for later, all right, don't give away all
the secrets. That's how we're real fired up every show.
(21:07):
Save that giant ice cube for later. Giant ice By
the way, it's a really big ice cube. Yes, I
use one that people use for an old fashioned Oh
my god, how do you think we bring it? And
if you don't know what we're referencing, you got to
watch the Charlie Sheen documentary on Netflix. And by the way,
side note, we are sort of mentioned in that documentary.
You see our names. You see the Caveno and Rich
(21:29):
show if you watch real closely. In the Middle EASTERNISO too,
there is a Coveno and Rich. He thought it. They
make reference around the height of his popularity in the
early two thousands, when he was having his crash crash.
They had a serious XEM even had a Tiger Blood
radio pop up channel, and they show like a serious
(21:50):
XM player, And it says Covin on Rich Show, Yeah, yeah,
episode two, we were the b roll guys. We're big
and famous, right, so we're the world famous CNR on
fs are And if you miss any of today's show
and you want to catch the podcast, search Coveno and
Rich wherever you get your podcasts. Today's show will be
up our best of the day, best of the week.
Everything's there Coveno and Rich wherever your dream be sure
(22:13):
to follow, rate and review five stars because anything less
is on Civilized. So I'm Covino, that is Rich, Danny
g Prefet, Dan Byer are here and we're in the
middle of things that made you go hmm this weekend,
in the world of football, in the world of life
and sports and everything else. So any observation you made,
We go to the phones at eight seven to seven
ninety nine on Fox My forty nine ers. I feel
(22:34):
like I can't lie and be like this exciting lead story,
but you know they stuck by the Saintswitch is what
they needed to do. Without a healthy brock party and
Mac Jones proved. I think that he is a suitable
backup for sure. I would. I would argue that mac
Jones is a top tier backup in the National Football League.
And Juwan Jennings, you know, he's trying to show that
(22:56):
he's worth the money. So big game from him. McCaffrey.
Not the biggest game, right, but the forty nine ers
moved the ball enough to beat the Saints, and I
think a very interesting matchup will be next week. Again,
you don't only schedule watching Niners home opener against the Cardinals,
but you're looking at another mac Jones game, and right
now Vegas has it at like Arizona by one, So
(23:16):
I think that's an interesting, important game. Week three.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Saturday night, when we were at Covinos for the Big Fight,
we were laughing because DraftKings put out a post stretch.
They got us hyped for your Niners. They said Mac
Jones versus Spencer Rattler might be the worst football game
ever played.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
That's right what I like. Both those guys build up
that we signed up for. But you'll be tuning in,
so that's funny. Man. Now speaking out Danny, we're gonna
talk more about the fight because there's some observations there.
I have another observation, if you don't mind, sure the
team that me and Dan Byer as Niners and Seahawks
fans can't look past, not the Cardinals, the Rams. Is
(23:57):
it the rebirth of DeVante Adams, because maybe we all
thought he didn't have this much guess left in the tank.
Maybe in this setup with him and pooking the kupa,
is that arguably one of your better receiving cores in
the NFL?
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I think by name it is. I just don't know,
still not believing they got past the Texans, and I
don't know how much of a fight Tennessee is going to.
They seem to hang with them for about three quarters,
but the Rams end up pulling away. I think ultimately
it will. But I think what the the Seahawks and
(24:29):
Niners did in Week one and then the Seahawks winning
in Pittsburgh and just the Niners win in Seattle is
proven more. Where the Cardinals you could have picked an
easier start to the schedule, Saints Panthers, and they almost
let yesterday get away.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
I was, trust me, I'm sure the same with you.
I was rooting. I was rooting. I was like come on, Panthers.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
I had the Cardinals in a survivor league, so I
was actually rooting just for the Cardinals to end it,
and they couldn't. They couldn't do it for that reason.
It was Yeah, it was crazy how Carolina got into
the game. So I still think that there's something for
the Rams to prove, and I still think that the
something for the Cardinals to prove in that division.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
Dan not to overreact, because again it's two weeks of
National Football League play, it's not I got to make
this point clear. It's not overreacting because I feel that
way too sometimes. Is it reacting to what we got,
reacting with what we have? And I think next week
I already said there's a few telling games, because there
are times I feel other people are overreacting. I just
want to make it clear that that's just we're just reacting. Yeah,
(25:24):
that's it, but a telling game Week three, if you
want to go buy that. The Rams are playing the
Eagles and that I think that is an early test
of well, where is this Rams team at right? I mean,
if you're playing the Eagles, like if you hang with
the Eagles and it's like, oh, maybe they are all right?
But if the Eagles win, you know, you know, thirty
(25:45):
one thirteen, then all of a sudden, it's like, all right,
the Rams are not in that league, you know.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, yeah, I think that's I think that's a fair point.
And then if the Rams do compete or actually win,
then I think we're going to be having questions about
the Eagles because they We'll look at their three games
and be like, okay, one one, but really, what do
we see here?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Vegas has given the Rams a little credit if you
ask me. Eagles are at home, and I know there's
some already people saying, how is that not your late
afternoon primetime Fox game. It's an early game. It's an
early game in Philly, and the Eagles are favored by
three and a half. Blindly, I would have guessed six
and a half maybe, but three and a half Eagles.
(26:22):
They're given the Rams some credit there, huh.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yeah, And that two and a half to three and
a half is a big deal obviously, But yeah, I
thought it would maybe be Philadelphia buy a little bit more,
maybe not as much as you, but not the three
and a half.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
So a few years ago, Rich, I remember talking to you,
probably here on Fox Sports radio about high ankle sprains, Like, hey,
when did this become such a thing. Yeah, and it
seems like this year is all about turf toe. Oh yeah,
it's the year of the turf toe. It is turf
toe with your boy, brock Party, and now turf toe
with Joe Burrow. We tried to explain this when we
(26:57):
discussed Brock Party, but I further investigated myself because I'm like, well,
how serious is this now that Joe Burrow is suffering
from it? You explained to pretty well earthly. Yeah, here's
the misconcepts he owned. The misconception is it's something that's
highly painful yet sounds playful, right Like turf toe doesn't
sound like anything major. It sounds like rugburn or something
(27:20):
like a game of It doesn't match, doesn't match to severity. Yeah,
it sounds to you like he subs his toe on
the on the turf and now it's a little swollen.
But the way it was described is if you take
your thumb and bend it all the way back. If
you take your thumb and bend it all the way
back to the point where it snaps, that's what turf
toe is. Of the big toe. So it's their big
(27:42):
toe extending so far back that it snapped, and that
severity of the snap could differ, you know, with each
it could be a rock party couple weeks, or I
heard the pain is so stabbing and so severe that
it's hard to walk on and it's like it's like
a knife digging into your toenails, like underneath your toe
and to back couple. You said, I feel like turf
toe is one of those things that NFL fans should say, yeah, yeah, yeah,
(28:04):
turf toe, I think without that explanation, because I don't
know if every even hardcore fans know that. Again, that's
the best explanation. It's like pulling your thumb back so
far in that direction is not supposed to go all
the way back until his snaps, and he's expected to
miss what three maybe three months the months I'm hearing.
And again, depending on the severity, depending on how much
(28:25):
be snapped and snipped in that area, it could be
a brock Purty couple weeks, or it could be a
burrow three months. Dan byers that sort of right, according
to what you've known.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
I'll tell you what. Let's quick do this, because I
got some sound from Zach Taylor to kind of tell
you a little bit about what's going on. So, because
there's a bunch of quarterback injury news to get to.
So Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow out three months. We believe
Zach Taylor is saying they expect him that he will
likely need surgery. As for what's going to happen in
(28:53):
the message to the team at.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
This point, we're oh, and we've got a lot of
great energy right now. There's a lot of things that
we can clean up with our football team to be
better going forward. We have not put our best foot
forward yet and so that's what's exciting is that we
found a way to be two and er right now
and we still haven't even played our best best football collectively.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Minimum of three months is what all the reports have said.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I'm seeing here on Yahoo Sports Dan that the injury
appears to be because like we were saying, it's like
levels of severity and pain tolerance. I'm sure has something
to do with it too, But very very bad case
for Joe.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Three was the initial report last night, and that's worse
than grades two in grade one.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Ye, that sucks.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Not the only quarterback injured, JJ McCarthy is a high
ankle sprain. Kevin O'Connell says that he will likely miss
their Week three matchup with the Bengals. So you got
Jake browning against Carson Wentz coming up this Sunday. Wow, Yes,
McCarthy suffering that injury last night against the Falcons. Two
to four weeks or what reports are saying that McCarthy
could end up missing. As for Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels,
he's got a spray knee. Head coach Dan Quinn calling
(29:57):
him day to day, couldn't give him an idea of
what has happened with that knee injury until Wednesday at
least at the earliest, but there's a chance he misses
Their game against Danny's Raiders coming up on Sunday. Jets
quarterback Justin Fields in concussion protocol. They're in Tampa on
Sunday to face the Buccaneers Tampa. Tonight's in Houston to
take on the Texans. Well, Danny's Raiders and Chargers kickoff
at ten o'clock Eastern time tonight, and a couple of
(30:18):
more injuries, Bears have likely lost corner Jalen Johnson for
the regular season, needing surgery for a groin injury. Is
that why you're wincing, Cavino, Yeah, nobody wants to talk
about groin searchery. And Cowboys center Cooper Beebe's gonna miss
six to eight weeks with the high ankle sprain. They've
placed him on IR and officially announced the signing of
Gadevian Clowney. Finally, Savacisco Giants calling up top prospect twenty
(30:41):
year old first baseman Bryce Eldridge with two weeks left
in the season as they're trying to track down your
Mets rich Giants. Currently game and a half back of
New York for the final wild card, but just a
game back in the lost column.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Yes, so thank you. By the way, Danny and your
Dodgers took two out of three from the Giants this weekend,
kept the Mets, and finally the Mets one. Pete a Lonzo.
You saw the wall walk off and he said he
felt like he was a flying on a dragon's back.
That's how he described his walk off Pizza. An interesting guy.
I love Peter Anza. Thank you, DBA, Thank you Dan Bayer. Oh,
you know we've talked about the importance of backup quarterbacks,
(31:15):
and I think that might be in the category for
me of things that made me go hm, because we're
in week two and yo, it's like they said in
a Christmas story Fred g La quarterbacks, you could argue
the size and strength and speed of defenders. Now it's
a different game. Everyone's a little mobile, more opportunities for
little bang ups and high ankle spran's turf toe shoulders.
(31:36):
Like every every team, you feel like at some point
of the season, someone gets banged up. So the importance
of that backup quarterback, Danny. Even this weekend, you saw
Josh Allen got hurt with his nose and they had
to put him to oude. He saw Trubisky, you get
right in there, yep, and he starts throwing dimes and
start playing, starts playing big. These dudes are way more important.
Have to be ready at all times. You're right, Interestingly enough, Danny,
(31:58):
for your Raiders tonight. I know it's I'm not saying
by no means it's week two. I'm not saying must win.
But if you somehow at home sneak past the Chargers,
you have a Jayden Daniels lists Commanders next week, which
which I mean talk about like what could be an
early gift for the Raiders schedule. Yeah, I'm trying not
to think.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Maybe, yeah, maybe, yeah, maybe maybe because Rich, I'm used
to the season starting off really really tough, and for
them to slide into a season three and oh that
would be amazing.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Well, hey, not going to happen though. Your observations, your thoughts.
As we continue talking about Week one of the NFL,
We'll take your feedback next at eight seven, seven, nine
to nine on Fox. We got more next right here
on Covino and Rich Yeah CNR on FSR, Steve Covino,
(32:54):
Rich Davis, Danny g Spot on the videos. Remember we're
streaming our video. It's like a TV show. You get
to see Dan Byer do his professional updates in the
flesh all at Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube. Covino
and Rich FSR to me as a radio fan, a
(33:14):
kid that grew up listening to radio, loving radio. Yeah,
the fact that we throw to a news guy and
in fact you get to see that, I think it's
so cool because remember, growing up, we didn't see all
this interaction. You still have to use your imagination to
picture what that smooth buttery voice sounded like when Howard
started with it to Russ Buckingham. Yeah, I'd be who
(33:36):
is that guy? And you could just get on the
internet and find them. You know, you can actually watch
everything that goes on at Covino and rich FSR on YouTube.
And now it's time for the tire rack play of
the day. A lot of grumbling about the false starts
that were visible during the game winning push to push
push that ish pushy free two one HiT's over.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
The Philadelphia Eagles are two and zero as a defeat
the Kansas City Chiefs twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
The touch push was all the difference. Huh yeah, some
people are now you know, I know it comes up
every year, but I don't know. There are times they
use it where I am thinking it's like, well that's
sort of like not cheap. Cheap's the wrong word. Well
how would you describe it, Danny.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
People that don't like it say, it's not a football play.
It's more like rugby. It's not NFL football.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Remember the debate was the safety issues involved. Meanwhile, you
got people running full speed during kickoffs, you know, toward
each other. It's football. Do you.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I think what I think?
Speaker 5 (34:41):
What they were trying to get at it. The comments
I was reading last night, you could see both guards
moving early. Every time they slow it down. You could
see movement on the line. But because some of the
off sides or the early jumping is going in unison
between two of the players on the line, it's not
called by the refs. So there's a lot of upset
Kansas City Chiefs fans today.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
So twenty to ten courtesy of the Push Push. That's
your ti RACT play of the day courtesy of WIP
Eagles Radio Network and for over forty years, ti Iraq
has been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where you drive. Ship fast and free back

(35:25):
be So we're still going over week two observations. We
haven't even touched on the fight yet. I know what's
up Deep.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
I was just going to say, you know that it
could be a problem with officiating when people are saying
that the Chiefs aren't getting calls. So that's when you
know when hey, maybe there is something here. People are saying, Hey,
give Kansas city a break you want to talk? Sorry, no,
just because hey, because what's been the narrative for the
last five years.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
Absolutely well, not only that they've had their tackles constantly
lining up in the neutral zone for years. That has
been a constant problem with the Chiefs. But did you
guys see what Chris Jones said to Josh, I Meanalen Hurts.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
That was the thing that maybe go home. He talks
of smack and there's like.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
You don't even have one hundred yards in this game.
It's like we won the game. Shut you'll.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Yeah, I thought that was great. I thought it was cool.
I thought another great observation was in the Jags Bengals game.
Let's just say an adult toy was thrown on the
field and CBS thought it was a flag. So the
so the yellow flag came up like wait a minute,
that it might be a flag on the plate. No,
it was just a yellow adult toy, yellow adult toy.
(36:28):
What could it be? Oh, hungry hunger hippos? What did
they throw a glow worm? It was a whiffle bat,
I think, But yeah, they thought it was a flag.
That was kind of funny. I made me say, hm.
But the to push itself. You're right there there's something
that I don't think we'll ever all agree on it,
because again, you're right, it's like didn't figure out how
to bock it and then everyone would do it. But
(36:49):
Tom Brady said, uh, it's the silly observation. But he goes,
it's like the the Eagles have first and nine every
time because one yard they'll always be able to get.
So he goes, the Eagles start every possession first and
nine because if it's third and one or fourth and one,
they're gonna go for it and get it. So, dude,
is there's not a rule that says only the Eagles
could do it? I know, so, I mean, but what
you would think, like has anyone else effectively tried to
(37:10):
do it? It's not like they have just ridiculously different personnel.
That is actually we've seen other teams do it, just
not with the same success. So that's on them and
other observations. You know, who continues to make you scratch
your head, make you say, Mike McDaniel, We mentioned about
the Dolphins being ass but once again this guy hits
the podium and he's almost at a loss for words,
(37:33):
where it almost seems concerning it's it's uncomfortable to win games.
Speaker 8 (37:37):
You have to win the game, not lose the game, honestly,
and that that is how you lose the game. You're
moving the you're moving the ball down the field, you're
first and ten, and then you find yourself at second
and twenty.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Wait a second. To win the game. Need to win
the game. I've not lose the game again. It's his
it's his dry sarcasm that in losing doesn't translate. I
promise you that's only second two. That woman on that
podcast that went viral that said love your job, don't love.
Don't love your job, job your loves it, and then
(38:12):
the other person goes, I love that, don't love. Guys, Guys,
I don't know if you've ever heard this before, but
if you're having a tough monday, I gotta tell you
something A friend once told me. Don't love your job,
job your love.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
I have to file a W two every time I
go on a date.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Job your love, your love. That's what he's saying. Here,
he's saying, gibberish. Play that one more time so you
could listen to this pile of nonsense.
Speaker 8 (38:37):
To win games, you have to win the game, not
lose the game.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Thanks John Nasty and that bo.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
That is how you lose the game.
Speaker 8 (38:45):
You're moving the you're moving the ball down the field.
You're first and ten, and then you find yourself at
second and twenty.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
To win the game, you have to score more points
than the other team.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Win the game. You have to win the game. It's
his not lose the game. Honestly, it's his sarcastic no livery.
That doesn't translate when you're losing. That. There's too much
of that lately. I don't know if it's, like you said,
a misinterpretation because they're losing, yes, or is he just
full of nothing right now?
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Yes, sarcasm would be if he's trying to be funny.
I don't think it's funny. We've seen that in the
past with him, where he's kind of funny, But lately
he's just rambling.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah. Is this him being dry like which says or
is this him like in a concerning to win the game.
You gotta win the game. You can't be first intent
and then second and twenty. He's sarcastically saying, like, how
are we gonna win the game? If you know we
start the ball first and ten, and then second and
twenty third and twenty five.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
That's how I took it.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
I took it. It's like again, I said it last week,
and I stick by what I said last week. Mike
McDaniel's a really interesting, funny, sarcastic guy. When you're winning,
that shtick is funny. When the reporter trust to talk
to him and he jogs ahead of them jokingly going
to the tunnel when they're losing, that does not translate.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
It's like, way, I feel bad for Dollphins fans. Did
you see h Chan his foot touch the out of
bounds line. Had that not happened, the Dolphins would have
wound up winning that game.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
And and and Danny, you know what it's like. I'll
give you the analogy for McDaniel. I think I can
make it clear. You know, you're when you're in a
disagreement or spat with your your wife or girlfriend. You're
like when it's not the time to be funny. And
some guys don't know how to not do that. Like
I've always accused of going for the cheap joke or
punch on even in the middle of a serious moment.
(40:28):
It's and I think Mike McDaniel just doesn't know how
to turn that part off where it's like, dude, you're
about to lose your job and your team's going too,
and he's still like, well, you're the game. What's going on?
I give you a high five for pointing it out
to make it clear, because that's not my interpretation of it,
but it makes sense. So just gives me a different
perspective when it's like your wife being like be serious
(40:49):
and you and you crack a joke. Yeah, how's not
the time. I think it's still coming across weird. Yeah, no,
I agreed, agreed. So hey, we'll wrap up all your observations.
We will talk a little baseball. We got twelve games
to go, Pennett Race, this is wild Cards and of
course maybe one of the biggest fights of the last
twenty five years went down this weekend. Are observations from
fight Night at Covinos. Can't wait more next right here
(41:09):
on Fox Sports Radio.
