So I don't want this to be an indication of
like we're bad luck. So what's up, Philly? Kid me
my condolences. I love Philly. I love my armored.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
People in Philly. In Philly here, they are just kidding.
I love my cheese steaks. I'm from Jersey, Rocky Statues, Rich, Jimmy,
we would take trips there from Jersey.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
We've been on the Gambler there, but they get like
an hour. Now they get both hours, so it's double
torture for the Philly.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah, shout out to Philly. Sorry you had a tough night.
We're happy to be there. Shout out to all the
East Coast, all the affiliates. In fact, we'll come broadcast
in your city. Let's do this. But happy to be here,
live from LA Excited for the weekend. In fact, every
Friday on this show we do a few things. Rich's
big TV game of the week. We'll get you ready
for the weekend and weekend hobnobbing what you need to
(01:57):
watch in the world of sports and entertainment again, Well, hoo,
can you want like we always do? Now, I know
yesterday we discussed who do you root for when your
team's out of it? You missed it. It's all on
the podcast. But to quote the great how he Rose
put it in the books, how he Rose put on
social media, and I agree with this. I don't care
who you root for, but if you can't find even
(02:20):
an ounce of compassion for Oriyan Kirkering, you are undoubtedly
devoid of a soul.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
How do you not feel a little bad for that dude?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Ground ball back to him, bobbles it a little bit,
and everyone on planet Earth, unfortunately was like Bro first base,
first ice. Yeah, but Bro, I mean hey, one of
the first things you learn, even at a little league level.
And not to rub it in and add salt to
the wounds here, but it's to know, if the ball's
(02:50):
hit to you, where am I going with it? You
do that before every bat or before every pitch thrown.
If it's hit to me, where am I going with it?
How do you not know? You're the guy the moment,
And that's why you gotta feel compassion. It's a high
pressure moment. I give him a hug too, if I could.
I So it's not easy, you know, I coach five
and six year olds, and before every play, I go,
(03:11):
all right, oh wait, baseball already mudcats. And then the
kids all look up and I go, you know where
you're going with the ball? That is honestly it is
you started a T ball? Hey, little Dylan, Hey Phoenix,
when you get the ball, where are you going?
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Where's the play?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
It's first and second, you're playing third. Where are you going?
I could step on the base, yeah, like you know.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
What it is.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I think it's that bobble And then a quick panic
moment the right that was it. Co Man Danny g
He didn't even touch home plate.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
That was the weird thing. Yeah, Ki Kim, rookie mistake.
He had to come back and step on the plate.
But I was going to ask you, Covino and not
to bring up old wounds. But how come we didn't
feel this sort of compassion or empathy for Aaron Judge
when he misplayed that ball in the outfield.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
I don't know. I did. I hated that. I know
you did.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
But it feels like today the world feels for the
Phillies pitcher, but not so much for Aaron.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know my question?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
And that was his only error of the year. It
was extra inning mud gates and unraveled.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
The Dodgers already up, like, wasn't like two or three
games and nothing when that happened.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
A lot of people think that that led to the
Dodgers winning that World Series game all unraveled.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Diagree, Sam, the stakes were way higher. You know, tie
was the World Series. Rich, you have a tie game,
extra innings, the run scores, the series is over. Aaron
Judge was like the middle of the game error, like
you know, just oh man, Maybe because it was a
series of events and bad mistakes after that and bad
pitches and bad plays, maybe that was it and this.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Was the in that moment phillies out, Yeah, this ended
the game.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So it seems like it's on him and seeing him
there with his hands on his knees, like, oh man.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
There's some crazy visuals.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
It's a current day thrill of victory and the agony
of defeat right before your very eyes. You see you
see the Dodgers celebrating and they're jumping up and down
on the field, and you see him there, like you said, Rich, like,
oh man, what just happened?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
He I told you. You just gotta look.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I know, it's just a game, and it's sports, but
millions of people hearts on them on the line. It
really weighs heavy on these young men. So you just
really hope that they're mentally equipped to deal with these things.
Something like that is drastic and devastating. You know shouldn't be,
but it is. Hopefully, you know, he can move forward
with it. They have been showing a clip on social
(05:23):
media when he made his debut in the Bigs. His
dad was crying the whole time in the stands, and
he seems like a really good young man, so it's
like sort of a bummer. You feel for him, so
have a little compassion. But you know what, my kids,
I told you, I'm losing them to the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
My kids. I can't expect him to be lay Mass
met fans like me just because you could because you're
their dad. Yeah, but just because I like.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Lindor and Sodo and Polar Bear Peede and I'm you know,
come on, Nemo, Like, I can't expect my kids to
be a loser. Weenie like me was clinging on to
Darryl Strawberry and Gary Carter's afro in eighty six. You
are the potrich, the patriarch of the family. You sort
of set the president of we're a Mets family. Hey,
(06:07):
you're out here in LA. If you want to go
to a few games and they're you're sort of secondary team.
I understand, But we're a Mets family. I think that's
something that you do do and I think you should
lean into harder.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Then.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I think I have a fifty to fifty split of dad.
I like the Dodgers and the Mets, and I'm like,
I think I got to accept that. My daughter wore
a little Dodger's hat to school today and last night
we went to go get Smashburger's after baseball practice. Mash
my kids are there, we're watching the game. And when
(06:38):
that happens, and I always told you think it's corny,
I think it's awesome. When Randy Newman kicks in I
love LA after a Dodgers win.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Just sounds like naked gun ah.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
And I see my son like, yeah, I'm like, my
son's five and six. That's when I started loving the Mets,
so I can't expect him not to like the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Dann Bayer, I.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
Will say this, think of the alternative and the alternative
isn't him liking the Dodgers to liking the Mets. The
alternative is is that he doesn't care about sports. So
your daughter doesn't care at all about sports.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
That's my daughter. She doesn't.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
So at least you can share it. Maybe a rivalry,
you know, as they grow older, but at least they're
invested or involved in.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
A team at this point.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
That is true. I think Mike's better than not. My
kids know it means something to me, and it sounds
so ridiculous. But when we're playing whiffle ball in the
front yard, remember you would do this. You would do
the batting stances of the different guys. My son's like,
all right now, I'm Mookie Mets. All right now, I'm
polar Bear Pete. And then I'm like, are you just
doing that? Because you know Dad wants you to.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
He's humoring you. You could be Freddy Freeman, buddy, you
could be Alan Rich.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
You're not the only transplant facing this. Our boss was
there last night. He's a Minnesota guy, Minnesota fan. His
son was screaming and jumping up and down and celebrating
the moment.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Scott Shapiro, because he is a true sounds like sounds
like the kids here are a little front runners.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
So I'm growing up in a culture of winning in
like championships, and like, how are they not going to gravitate?
Speaker 4 (08:11):
No?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I know, but Rich, honestly, I mean, you're such a
Mets fan. I think you gotta just be a not
that you're not. I'm not saying it anyway because Rich is,
but you gotta lean a little harder and maybe be
a stronger influence. What if I went Hollywood, Hogan and
I'm like, nah, the Mets and I'm okay, No, Well,
last night was a hell of a hell of a
(08:33):
baseball game, and I guess that just a terrible night
for Philadelphia because the story doesn't end with you don't
want to lose that way.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I thought the Dodgers are gonna win anyway, but you
don't want to lose that way.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
And it was sad to see.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
And I do want to give kirkering atle Hug and
how do you do it?
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Is just a game?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
But we've seen a lot of pictures in that position
that gave things up, take things way hard and understandable.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
You ever have a moment like that on a much
smaller level.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Obviously we're not professional athletes, but you ever have that
sort of situation where you were the what used to
be called the goat before the goat was the goat,
You were the goat live right, but not like below
the game. Truthfully, it sounds ridiculous because I've never brought
it up to you, No, because think of how it
(09:23):
hurts on the weakest of levels. Can you imagine in
some of the biggest moments, ever, how that must feel.
My god, I've never brought this up because it's it's
such a lame example, but it is true. You know,
I play softball. I like being active. When I played
in Hoboken in my twenties and thirties, we were in
(09:45):
the final game and the third out was like a
like a you know when a line drive's dying, Like
it's like it was hit to me. And if I
make the play games over, we win, and the ball
just died. I dove it went under my glove and
the other team one and it was probably a play
I could have made. And that's reck softball. And I remember,
(10:05):
I mean I just mentioned that. Now you remember those
things that you never forget, so so imagine that times
a gazillion time. It actually matters, right, you know, it's
not easy being Jazz chism right, Kirkering or any of
those guys.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
It's really tough.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
These are young, young, young men, and again they're I
don't want to say, a different breed of guy, but
they're a lot more sensitive than men used to be
back in the day. Back to your story, Rich, I
remember playing in a tournament out here in California at
Loyola Marymount College, playing outfield. Came charging in and went
(10:38):
right under my glove. We were out of the tournament.
So came from the East Coast to play in a
West coast tournament out here. Done because of my error.
And that's again a stupid against nineteen years old. So
put in perspective, remember that, put in perspective what this
kid must be feeling. Because if we're remembering stories, if
you missed the game winning shot in basketball, if you
(10:58):
played high school football or college football on you you
know you threw a pick to lose the state championship,
those things bother you. Imagine you're in the Major League
Baseball playoffs and a comebacker you bobble a little bit,
and that's now until something better in your career happens,
you will be tied to that unfortunate Truthfully, though, nobody
(11:19):
ever forgets, ever forgets. So you think you move on
and move past it. Nobody forgets because even at the
weakest of levels, Like I said, my dad still brings
up the time I was pitching like a little league
championship in some little roly poly kid made an error
at third base, blew to hob Yeah. Man, if little
chubby as Dave would have called that ball you got.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
But he'll still bring that up.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Man's a grown ass man with with kids in a family.
But if I saw me like Dave, you made that day,
blew it when we were ten years old.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
You blew it for everybody. You never forget.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
My sister, her husband, and their daughter, and my niece
live in Philadelphia. Huge Phillies fans, huge Eagles fans. My
sister's been living there for like the majority of her life,
more so than she grew up in Iowa, and she
left for college at seventeen. She's been living in Philly
ever since. So it's been a really rough week. So
Saturday leading into Sunday, the Phillies lose. On Saturday, the
Phillies loose on Sunday. Then the Eagles lose blow a
(12:18):
two touchdown lead at last Sunday. Then it's been a
tough week of licking your wounds. And then we get
to Thursday and the Phillies are out and the Eagles
loo's again. So she's heartbroken right now.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Like I said, there's tears in the cheese sticks. There's
a very salty cheese sticks cove.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
You referred to it at the beginning of the show
about Kim not stepping on the bat on home plate actually.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Right on the final play, Yeah, the Dodgers one.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
After the are He got there just early, right, so
he had to come back and step on it after
the play. So what was worse the decision or the throw,
because had the catcher been able to reach out and
glove it, he could have still got the out because
of how Kim missed the bag.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
That's right. Imagine if that happened.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Imagine if the throw was made, Kim is then the
exactly that would have been the week. You know, you know,
for every great moment, keep us in mind for every
you know, moment that's terrible for someone at someone else's
great moment, and vice versa, like for every doubt, you know,
for every gets By Buckner, you know, rounding third is night.
(13:22):
You know there's there's a Mookie Wilson who is the
hero in that moment for every for every time out
the Fab five in Michigan.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
You know who is the someone that benefits from that time?
Is the picture? For was it Stanley or her? Who
was it? Bob?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Bob Stanley Hurst was a starter, So it was Bob
Stanley in Calvin Shiraldi right in the pen back and
then yes, back in eighty six. So yeah, tough, tough night.
But again there's something to be happy about Philadelphia. You
now have us for two hours. Look at that, and uh,
you know what. I want to be the first to
say this because I know he's a rich Davis guy.
Good luck to your brewers tomorrow night, Dan Byer.
Speaker 6 (13:56):
Oh yeah, thank you, thank you very much, Rich Davis.
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Know Cavin is gonna be like you know, baseball, he
wouldn't even have you know, no, a, he's a Rich
Days guy.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
For this week, he's prisoner of the moment, much like
everybody is about the New York Football Giants.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
Okay, let's get it.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
How I feel about it, Dan, Rich is great and
small doses. You'll be sick of them by by next week.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Crust.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
I was gonna say, I've actually got some bad news
for Rich.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (14:21):
Can I have a breaking news stage or please?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Sam? Yeah? I hate to do this to my guy.
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
The Niners have ruled out Rock Party and Ricky Piersoll
for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. So maybe expected, but sorry, Bud,
you know I had to deliver the bad news.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
But is going to miss another game? You know what?
Max a little banged up? Three? And oh what have it? Four?
Speaker 2 (14:44):
No? Yeah, mac Jones, let's keep the magic alive. So
bad and I believe Juwan Jennings. I believe is back.
So I'm going to be positive Dan by a party
you Rich that's excited to see if mac Jones could
still bring that magic and still be a force. I
think I'm you excited to see what he could do.
It's a good problem to have. And you know what,
if you want to call it a push, Dan Bayer,
I'm positive Dicky today.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Oh no, peer Salt, but is in uh Mike Evans out? Yes,
yes he is. Well, there you go. It's a little
Vegas push. You're at a wide receiver, so were we.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I'm getting a feeling is that still gonna be Rich's
big TV game of the week. We'll find out. But
last night you just said this is a prisoner of
the moment thing. Let's talk last night because when when
you're done watching the Dodgers Phillies, oh right to Amazon Prime,
let's go. And it was exciting, dude. I haven't seen
this much excitement for the Giants since I don't know,
(15:33):
since the nineties maybe, honestly, And I know it's just
one night, but I feel like you gotta do it
a few more times before I start believe in it.
It was on a big stage Thursday night football against
your Super Bowl champions, against the Eagles, big rivalry, right,
so think about it.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
I'm an East Coast kid. We've putted it out this week.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
I don't have a team other than the Yankees because
when I was a kid, you made a stupid choice,
like I like the Cowboys, right, but I didn't get
the chance to watch the Cowboys every week. I like
the forty nine ers, didn't get the chance to watch
forty niners. So I grew up around a lot of
Giants fans. I went to Giants games, but I never
really liked them. I didn't really get into them. I
(16:14):
wasn't a Mark Bavaro kind of guy, but I remember
you were a Mark Bavarro mullet type. I wasn't a
pil Aconkie kind of dude, a shocky kind of guy.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
As yours went on.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
But then they started to win in the Eli Manning days,
well I had some exciting moments. I think, what you're
what you're what you're getting at is interesting because well
Eli did win two Super Bowls. They were unexpected and
Eli is a great dude, but he's not this Uh
they didn't bring the excitement.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
He doesn't bring that they did. The kids still say
riz h no.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
But I remember a lot of times Eli Manning's Giants
team were like nine and seven, just skating into or
you know, just barely get into the playoffs, and then
they go on a run and.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Say im not to like sound means galore. You can't
spell elite without Eli. And he is a Hall of Famer, Okay,
not trying to take anything. He beat Tom Brady, the guys,
she yeah, twice.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
But it was nothing cool about him. He never like
reeled me in as a fan.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
It was Eli would make some clutch plays, they had
a good running game, and they would rely on their defense.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Yeah, all the props in the world.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Not trying to say anything bad about him, but you know,
I just never was a big fan. My uncle Bill
a huge Giants fan, My friends were Giants fans. Last night,
I feel like I witnessed something that could pull in
so many young fans, including this guy, because I was like, Wow,
this is electric. I haven't seen the Giants shining this
bright in years, even when they were winning. I know
(17:35):
what you're saying, because if you take away the Eli moments,
because well, like I believe Dan Patrick said it this week,
someone here on Fox Sports Radio said, this week, you
take away that Tyree moment, He's not a champion in
that case. Is he a Hall of Famer? So his
fault his Hall of And again I don't know if
it was DP, I think it was. If he doesn't
(17:55):
make that catch, what does that say about ELI? And
then the other Super Bowl of West Welcher catches out
wide old the past. I get it, but these are
what ifs. But I think the bigger picture is while
Eli Manning is a you know, likely a future Hall
of Famer. He is the god I think no doubt
to be honest, because he did it. But there was
nothing because those years they didn't win.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Though.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
It's not like the Giants were twelve and four every
year and oh they won twice. They were like average
and those two years were the anomalies. They were years
where the Giants were mediocre with eli So it wasn't
like Drew Brees for the Saints, where every year they
were good, but they only got it done once. This
is a team that was min They like reached up,
they out they outperformed. Yes, and speaking about Giants are
(18:37):
still only two and four, and that's the good. I
was completely glued to what was going on yesterday, but
please let it be clear as to what I'm saying.
What happened last night appeared to be real. It was electric,
It was exciting. You had Scataboo ripping his shirt off
like he was Jhulkamania last night on Thursday Night Football Amazon.
(19:00):
But I am saying in the same breath rich, although
it was real and it was exciting, and man, they
seem to be like a must watch team. Now it's
still only one game, and I need more to believe it.
I think you can say a prisoner of the moment, right.
I think what you're gonna see is a young, talented,
raw duo. And I think the funniest part that came
(19:23):
out of last night is while we know camp Scattaboo
and while we know Jackson Dart, I think last night
Primetime Thursday Night Football put this duo on display like
we didn't know what they were, Like Bros at Head mutted, and.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
We didn't know that. Uh oh man. You know camp
Scataboo choose so sunflat erc.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
He's louder than anyone, and they're they're silly together getting
all the backstory.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
It was almost like.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
This weird coming out party where it's like WHOA hold on,
Like almost like an album release, Like here's camp Scattamou
and Jackson Dart your new dynamic duo.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Right.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
I think the world got introduced to them last night
and they're hard to not. Like you see all the
Giants fans, it's not just us. I think everybody's prisoner
of the moment because I believe it was Dart that
said it. These New York Football Giant fans are starving
for a winning team, starving for a new quarterback, starving
(20:15):
for someone to cheer for, and you see them.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Scatter boo Scotta, boo Scott.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
They're looking for a hero, and right now he's the
guy and he flips dude, He's running people over and
Jackson Darts like good looking mom and the cool dad
or that right that you know right by the stage afterwards.
Everything about this dynamic duo was on display last night
and I was against the Eagles, so but it makes
it even more special. But I will say this, I'm
(20:42):
not saying we're prisoners of the moment. I know you're
saying that I am. They're young and raw with all
this explosive talent. There are gonna be weeks with his turnovers,
sloppy play, injuries because they both play sort of reckless, Danny,
you and I were talking about that before.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
They they're equally like wild, right, So.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yeah, yeah, Jackson Dart has kind of take taken Cam's
approach to the game where he's diving and he's he's
knocking helmets and you don't want your quarterback in that
position too often. And then Tay tweeted one of our
listeners said I love how Cam shakes his head out
on every play winning sprints head first through someone, because
(21:20):
if you react like that, like you have a concussion
on every play, then they'll never realize when you actually
do have ones.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
That that's true.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
They bring the juice, as was stated last night, and
that juice and that excitement is contagious. So it's exciting
to see what happens, and it's definitely fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
And does it now not surprise you at all that
Jackson darts the number one selling jersey and football now?
Speaker 2 (21:43):
Oh no, I totally get after last night. I think
the world gets it. We're not the only ones. Props
to them. Rich A question for you. Were there more
consecutive Toush pushes last night or more touchdowns by camp scattabu?
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Oh what is that push? Right?
Speaker 2 (21:58):
That?
Speaker 1 (21:58):
More more Toush pushes? Yes?
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yes, for four consecutive Toush pushes to Cam's three tds
last night.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
That's wild. That is kind of wild man four in
a row. That seemed a little much.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I saw Michael Parsons tweeted like this isn't football, Like
people are getting really fed up with the Toush push.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
I saw someone also say like, why couldn't they do
this twenty plays in a row. It's like, well, it's
because they only get a yard like they would have
to punt on fourth down because it would be fourth
and sixth.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
It was in fourth and sixth.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
It was the situation where they were short yardage at
you know, within the five, so then they got the
first down and then we're close enough to do it
twice to get into the.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Man four in a row.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
It's like that SpongeBob episode. Remember when SpongeBob split his
pants and he's like, I split my pants and everyone laughed. Ah,
But then he kept saying it and it wasn't funny anymore,
and he kept saying leaning into that same joke, like
how many times are you gonna lean into that toush
push in a row? Like don't you pull that out
for special occasions? It's it's it's a part of the
(23:03):
usual mix. So listen, I want to take all the
feedback eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox. Let me
get the phones going now, let's be the most interactive
at Covin on Rechens.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Of course, I'm saying two things at once. It was real.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
It was Thursday night football it was Amazon Prime. It
was against your defending super Bowl champions. And guess what
the Giants made them look like?
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Ass?
Speaker 2 (23:22):
It made they made the Eagles look like cheeks last
night and Jalen hurts once again. You know it looks
like a little lack luster. He comes out with his
chef's hat on again with that weird hat, and the
Giants looked electric.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
You know like that? Really? I think I like then
again looking at my head, so it looks like a turkey.
I don't like that.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
It's for Thanksgiving. You should rock one, sem I think
I look good in it. I'm gonna get you a
please round chef's hat.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
And on the flip side, the Giants looked electric. Two
young superstars like Rich said it looked like uh, the
world was introduced to a new dynamic duo to be
reckoned with. Are you buying into it? Or are you
prison of the moment? We'll take your phone calls next
at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, we are
(24:08):
Coveno and Rich. But more importantly, it's Friday. It's postseason,
ghost season. We got some good baseball, we got some
great football. We have a great weekend ahead of us

Speaker 2 (25:07):
You can't say anything without my add blazing So twenty
second story, Oh boy, I remember for some reason, do
you remember the baseball player Je Kent too? Oh yeah,
played around the league for quite a while. I remember
there was a story back in the day where he
was all offended, and rightfully so, because he was one
of those guys that you could tell had acne back
(25:28):
in the day. So you know there's some scarring on
some guys. Right, one of the dudes on Love is Blind,
you could tell that's scarring. His bobblehead had scarring on
his face. Like they couldn't even give the guy a break,
So Jorge Can't's bobblehead had a bunch of I used
to have pimple marks.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Imagine being a kid in getting that, like, we don't
want this, that's our got a bumpy ass face. Yeah,
it's a little kid like, mom, why is his face?
I guess?
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Come on, Well, anyway, that is a story that I
remember as well. Right, we're Covino and Rich at Covino
and Rich on social Media. Take it back to the
first time you were introduced to this dynamic duo, Jackson
Dart and Scataboo. We saw Skataboo get drafted. We saw
him in tears, him and his family watching it, and
(26:13):
we knew it was going to mean a lot to
the guy to play for the Giants. We saw Jackson
Dart's family last night after the game, and you see
that relationship that he has with his parents and how
much it means to them because he's a good boy
and he worked so hard and they're excited to see
their dreams come true. We found out that when Dart
and Scataboo met for the first time, they exchanged three
(26:35):
words and then bump heads gave each other a headbutt.
Now he saw Scataboo scored three touchdowns Thursday night football
rush for I think ninety eight yards, knocking people down.
We saw him ripping his shirt off, chest bumping Fitzpatrick
last night.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
It was a big sting.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
It was a night where you were like, wait, they've
always had this, really, but we just found out about
it now, Like you're right, can we know it's not
lying when he said Jackson Dart, to quote Jackson Dart,
you're number one selling jersey, number six New York Giants.
The first time I met camp Scautabo, we said three
words to each other and then just headwooded. That was
(27:15):
the kind of that was kind of like the start
of a relationship. It really was the feeling of a
coming out party. We all got introduced to this dynamic
duo at the same time on a big night. Did
you see what Dante Miller the Giant said in reference
to camp Scautivo, I've.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Never seen someone chee seeds louder, he eats loud. He's
not normal.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Right, You're getting all these backstories, you know, you're getting
to learn about the relationship. And you saw them really
bring it against the Eagles thirty four seventeen. It was
an electric game. Maybe vibes were just up last night.
Maybe you're baseball teams out of it, so you're just
looking to tune into something exciting. And you know there's
(27:59):
something about the very little expectation that Giants have now,
so these moments mean more.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Maybe for a New York Football Giants team.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
This is a very uplifting moment for the team. More
One more quote from Cam Scattaboo's mom, Becky Scattabu Becky Scannaboo,
when he was a kid, Cam would put on his
brother's shoulder pads and run into telephone Polese, I'm not surprised.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
The guy's a maniac.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
And like I said, him and Jackson dart if winning
are going to be the most exciting duo. But there
will be games where there it might be injuries, recklessness, interceptions, fumbles,
but they they play that style of games, so you're good.
It's not going to all be sunshine rainbows. But last
night we win by it. But last night was freaking awesome.
It really really, I'm not even a Giants fan. It
was just fun to watch same same You could appreciate
(28:44):
the chemistry and the juice. They kept using the word
the juice last night, the juice that these guys are
bringing to the team because that juice, much like negative chemistry,
that positive chemistry is contagious, so that's what the team needed.
It was fun to see. But we're gonna get to
your phone because the question is this is it legit,
is it real? Or are we prisoners of the moment.
(29:06):
I think I think one thing we could all agree
on is we're definitely watching again to see I think
the I think, much like Baker Mayfield, has won most
of us over at this point. Yeah, I think the
casual fan answer, the diehard and casual fan answer. Danny
G you're a Raiders guy, but I think we may
get to the point where you're like, well, besides the Raiders,
any guys you root for I think Jackson, Darty, camp Scata,
(29:26):
who might be a pretty good answer for folks.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Well, this has been painful for me to watch Covino.
You know why, what was I talking about leading up
to the NFL draft of screaming at Christmas time?
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Yeah? Yeah, Danny G.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
Dart.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
I was screaming about Dart for a long time as
a Raiders fan wanted I.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Wanted the Raiders to draft back into the bottom of
the first round and get Dart to back up Gino Smith.
And if that had been the case right now, Vegas
fans would have been screaming for Dart and Dart would
have probably got the start coming up this Sunday.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Well, it looks like the Giants God exactly bactly what
they needed, which is a solid starting quarterback that's getting
everybody excited. We'll get to your phone calls in a minute,
but we got Dan Bayer on standby.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (30:08):
DEEPA talking about other quarterbacks in the NFL. Niners quarterback
Brock Purty out week six as his Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
He missed his third straight practice today because of his
hamstring strain. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray questionable to face the Colts.
The good news with Murray as Arizona got him on
the practice field today after missing the first two workouts
this week because of his foot injury. Shandor Sanders will
(30:31):
be the backup in Cleveland. The Browns rookie quarterback will
back up fellow rookie Dylan Gabriel in their Week six
matchup against the Steelers on Sunday. Speaking of Jackson dartneck
concussion or non concussion, the NFL and NFLPA have opened
an investigation. It's whether proper concussion protocol was followed in
last night's win. Bego's wide receiver Jamar Chasemiss practice with
(30:53):
an illness today. He'll be questionable to face the Packers
on Sunday. Danny's Raiders without Brock Bauers again. He's going
to miss the contest against the Titans because of his
knee injury. Panthers ruled out Chuba Hubbard for their game
against Dallas. Defeast of Collier, Asia Wilson, Kelsey Mitchell just
some of the names named to the first team All
WNBA squad. Rookie Page Beckers was named second Team All WNBA,
(31:15):
and tonight on Fox. It's Game five of the American
League Divisional Series Tigers and Mariners. Winner gets the Blue
Jays in the ALCS Derek Scuble against George Kirby. Guys,
back to.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
You, that's gonna be a good one tonight. He got
something to watch on a Friday night. Besides Love is Blind,
I would saying, what's going on, buddy, I mean we're
talking about the Giants. October must be a big month
with Halloween coming up for Cam scutaboo, damn By. That's
why he was raising his hand like I have statu
(31:45):
please please hit that hit the dump button.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You have ten seconds. No, I like letting that one
time of the year. It's his time of the year.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
No, you gotta you gotta do like a joke for
like five year old little kids, like who's every ghost's
favorite player? Cam Scatum, it's a great New York's kids
joking a Well, coming up, we're gonna go over the
big TV game of the week. We're gonna go over
all this, but uh calls will be next. So Hank tight, Pete, Liam, John,
everyone on the phone. We'll get to your feedback next
(32:14):
right here. Cavino and Rich Yeah, I'm fascinated with this song,
and I'll tell you why, because a lot of teams
have songs that they play when they win, right New York,
New York, when the Yankees win, taking care of business,
(32:35):
when the Mets win. I'm sure every city has their
own song, right. I think I figured it out, Danny J.
That song kicks in sometimes when the play isn't even over.
Like let's say the Dodgers gonna hit a game winning hit.
The guy just like corny sounding songs, but like the
guy will be rounding third and all of a sudden
you hear and I don't know, I just you know,
(32:57):
I think something happy and about it. It sounds like
it belongs to a montage with Leslie Nielsen. I mean
it is, I mean, but I'm saying that's what it
makes me think of. Oh No, I just think there's
something special about her. Maybe I like Los Angeles a
little bit. Maybe I'm a mild Dodgers fan. And if
you're listening, maybe I like percent. Maybe I like a
one percent we're listening to I love La. That wasn't
(33:21):
Randy Newman cheesy song. I get it, but I didn't
know they played at the end of every Lakers game
as well. It's a fun song, for sure, it's a
fun song. But Rich keeps playing it. Are you trying
to justify your fandom and blame it on your kids
when you're the guy that's feeling la which is understandable.
You've been out here over ten years. Now we're live
Los Angeles, Cavino and Rich, and we're gonna take your
(33:44):
phone calls. So, Hank Tyer, we're talking giants, New York
Football giants, which is crazy because my take is simply this,
we are prisoners of the moment. Last night was exciting.
You know, I think Philadelphia had a really rough day yesterday.
Sorry Philly. I know you know they've had a rough week.
You're you're eliminated from baseball six days, you lost two
in a row in the NFL. But there is a
(34:06):
part of me that thinks Scataboo and Dart being so
exciting and like, what is what happened last night? I
thought the story today would be what's happening to the Eagles,
But I think the story today is more like man
Jackson Darden, he gotta.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Makes it cool. Rich.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Not only did they play big on a big stage,
but they seem like wild guys. They're like like a
wild duo. Yeah, two wild, young, wild dudes with swag
in a world where everyone's boring as hell. We talked
about this all the time. You'll see a rookie debut
in baseball, He'll walk back to the dougout after a
great start. He wanted to even tip his house to
the crowd. Just head down and every guy. Matt Jones
(34:40):
played his ass off with my Niners like a week ago.
Remember on that Primetime Thursday night game. The guy's pants
are falling down. He almost got you know, felt like
he was getting pummeled on the field afterwards, just like hell,
you know, just do them a job. But these guys
show some level of excitement we haven't seen.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
In a minute. They got the rockers out there for
the New York Football Giants.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Cavin know, how many times do you need to see
this new dynamic duo succeed. Remember even though they lost
to the Saints, they came out the gates hot in
that game until all the turnovers.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Yeah, I think Rich hit it on the head before
actually when he said that they're gonna have a down week,
but they will probably come back again and excite you
because they're going to live by it and die by it.
So I think if we keep our expectations realistic, we
know that as young players who were wild like this,
and they're playing a wild style of game, yeah they're
(35:31):
going to have their weak failures and their weak moments,
but it's part of the growing process.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
They got something going on.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Coincidentally, they remind me as a duo of one of
their teammates who gave a motivational speech last night. You know,
the whole world of Jamis Winston where one day he
in his primoe days, was giving up four picks and
then the next game he's still for five hundred yards
and yeah, it's gonna be hot and cold, but last
night they were hot. We're live from the Fox Sports
Radio studio and before we get to the phone calls,
(35:59):
is time for our time IRAQ play of the day,
the bobbled ball by Kirkering that should have went to
first base. Ah, people are still buzzing about it. Heart
rates through the roof the old one pitch Pa has grounds.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
It back to Kirkery. He can't find it. He does home.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
It's why ten stores and the Dodgers are going.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
To the championship series, fire works go.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Walk in center field. The Dodgers celebrate her first base
on a ground balls back to the pitcher.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Andy pas somehow gets the job done. All I hear
is Randy Newman. That's all I heard in that whole club.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Hey, that's your tirect play courtesy of a five seventy
Dodgers audio network.
Speaker 1 (36:45):

Speaker 2 (36:59):
When your team moves forward, but they move forward on
a weak ass play on an error by the team,
does it take away or you don't even care care?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Yeah? Honestly, there was really good pitching in that game.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Obviously, uh you know the game prior where the Phillies
had a couple of home runs and knocked Kershaw around.
You could question some of the Dodgers pitching in that game,
but overall, great pitching in that series, and so there
weren't a lot of rallies. You have to just savor
whatever came across home plate. Put an asterisk by it. Yeah,
this one right there, the Dodgers Phony Championship. And if
(37:36):
your Brewers have a chance to win like that tomorrow,
I'm sure you'll take it.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Well, listen, pothees or as my daughter calls him, pages,
You mean give me pothead a pothead?
Speaker 1 (37:45):
So hey, big moment he escaped.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
You mean he d a comebacker into the pitchers now,
but that in any other circumstances he failed.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
And Otani's been so cold.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
He got bailed out by being intentionally walked because some
of those pitches that bets I bet you O Tony
would have swung.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
Man, let's say how to Pete in Tacoma? Pete? What's
going on? Buddy? What's up?
Speaker 7 (38:06):
Brother?
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (38:07):
You guys are awesome. I FM love you. Listen to
you guys.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Thanks man, Thanks man, you make you make my day.
Speaker 7 (38:14):
I listened to you every day. Your whole crew awesome, awesome.
I got a couple of things. Mariners, I think they're
gonna take it. I think they're not afraid of Scooble.
I don't think so, but I am afraid of the
Blue Jays.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
They have a great style of baseball. You're gonna see it.
They just they battle, battle, battle, every yet back tonight.
This is this the biggest game in thirty years in Seattle.
I mean that ninety five. I'm thinking that because they
made a couple of runs since. But this is a
big one. This is a big one tonight in Seattle.
So we'll see what happens. Let's say, how to Liam
in Vegas?
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Real quick? What's up? Liam?
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Hi?
Speaker 3 (38:50):
Guys. First of all, I don't know if you saw
last night post game, but during the West win one
interview of Camp Scadabi, they tried him and Jackson tried
to head but that was hilarious.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Yeah, they did two heads there. So there's something about him,
but you gotta love it. Yeah, there's something really entertaining
about him.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Yeah, it's very fun as a Giants fans. But honestly,
I think if we can win against the Broncos, we
can beat the Eagles again.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Let me tell you this, I don't think your expectation
should be anything this year. But Cowherd's that the best
the Herd here on Fox Sports Radio. Giants fans, you
got a couple players to now build around. This is
the hardest thing to find your franchise quarterback. It looks
like you got him. Polish him up a little bit,
build around him, and the Giants have something.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
That's the key.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
You gotta get a guy like Dart, fan favorite, plays
with balls, he's a he's a good dude. So hey,
congrats Giants, we got more. Covine on Rich will go
over NFL Week six. Some baseball playoffs all coming up,
and prizes shall hang tight.
