at Covino en Rich FSR streaming live. Elijah's got us all.
Thank you, Danny g super producing, Sam is here, Dan's here,
You're here. Let's rock out, all right? A lot to
get to today. Micah Parsons is a sad man, deleting
all the Cowboys stuff from his social media so corny,

(01:14):
my god. You know what else he put out there?
I think baby behavior? Is it true? He tweeted, if
you love something, let it go. If it comes back
at yours, if it doesn't, it was never meant to be.
Set it free, Set it free. I mean it's a
tactic athlete choosing every sport. Now, so we'll talk the
Little Cowboys and NFL. Michael Parsons is getting all cryptic now, yeah,

(01:35):
he uh just screenshot that it's one eleven make a wish?
Is uh? Is the New York Football Giants the fun
bad team to watch this year? We're gonna get to
that and how bad are they and how good could
they be? The Giants are sort of an interesting watch,
a very interesting energy they got going on in the

(01:57):
Metal ends. I'll tell you this right now. Get into it.
Looks like they're having lots of fun, lots of Excit
is like a huge layer of success. Does that translate
into wins? What does it translate into? Because losing's not fun.
But help me having a great day. We're having a
glorious Friday. On a personal note, all we do on

(02:18):
Friday is this show. So we come in all excited,
super energized. All the other gigs we have, I record
my serious XM stuff ahead of time. Same we don't
do nothing. We don't do our other podcast on Friday.
So we come in here shout out of a freaking cannon. Yeah,
more excited than ever. You're not live from the Serius
ExM New York Studios. That's all not today, Dandy. Yeah,

(02:42):
so Danny G's on the phones. Let's get involved, eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox Iowa. Sam is here, Dan
Byer Elijah again. We're on YouTube, and of course if
you miss anything, you got things to do. Catch the
podcast later or the video now. Rich. This is something
called aren't we over? It is sports panthering over or not?

(03:05):
Where are we in the world. Let's get a little controversial,
Let's have some fun, let's break it down, let's get
some feedback going because there's a I think it's a
funny ass story. There's a funny ass story out of
ESPN today. I think it's hilarious as could be. Your dude,
Jack Mack from Barstool. Gotta give him credit. Gotta give

(03:25):
him credit because he broke it down in the funniest way.
So ESPN, well, not only that, KFC, good dude, he
was on our bonus show over promised. Catch that on
Fox Sports Radios YouTube page, Portnoy, Big Cat, all the
other guys get more props, and my favorite is Jack Mac.
I think he deserves all the props and all the ass.

(03:46):
That guy's great. Ye when do you go a dm
M or something? Well a man. Chicks are always saying
they want a guy that makes him laugh. He's the
funniest of all of them. So he post this earlier,
and again I'll give him props because they took it
down so quick I didn't see it. ESPN posts a
mural of icons and again, have you know said? This

(04:10):
conversation is along the lines of are we done panthering?
Because every time you try to pander, even if your
intention is of good spirit and good heart and you're
trying to do the right thing. I mean, look, look
what I up been a bud Light a couple of
years ago. Bud Light puts a transgender person holding a
beer bottle and beer can, and what that company had

(04:31):
to spend years to recover. Yeah, put them in a
bad situation, that's for sure. So when it comes to
sports pandering, are we over it? Are we in a
time or entering a time where let's be real about things?
Are real. No, Look who just took the biggest misstep
Cracker barrel, Cracker Barrel, they know their audience or do

(04:53):
they change the logo going super liberal and aren't you
on the logo the original logo stuff? I think that
it rich. I think that you're seeing brands like making
just like Bonehead, and mistakes that don't need to be
made well, bud Light, cracker Barrel. I still believe you

(05:16):
should live in a world where you don't want to
just ruffle feathers just for the sake of it. Yeah,
I don't believe in that, especially in what we do.
We're not trying to piss off half the audience, absolutely not.
We're here to have fun and try to have a
good conversation. But when ESPN puts out this icon mural

(05:39):
and we say this respectfully, we're just telling you the story.
We had a great experience at ESPN, not talking smack,
just talking Jack Mack, talking facts. When you leave out
let's just say tiger Woods and I don't know most
of the MLB, all of the UFC. When you don't
put any fire in there, and you only put icons

(06:02):
that pertain to what your agenda is or I was
trying to avoid that word, but that's really what it is.
But it's wild, Like you look at this mural, Isn't
that just straight up bs to anybody with half a brain.
I mean, you got to you gotta have your head
so far up your ass to think that this mural
is in some type of weird agenda. All the icons,
all the moments, all of ESPN there's ten w NBA

(06:25):
players on this mural. Ten you could name maybe four
of them. And it's not only that. You know, you're
looking around, you're like, that guy's an icon, This dude's not.
Who's that that's an icon? Okay? And I guess, yeah,
there's anyone. I couldn't find anyone, and I was looking
at for In fact, Rich has it right there in
front of them, And we just want to know if

(06:48):
we're living in a time where we're over it. So
I just think that who really is an icon? I
guess you know. What I want to point out is
just simply like you said, oh, we just over it,
meaning everyone's trying to do the nice right thing. But
is that sentiment just like overblown? Now? Like all right,
we got everyone wants to be nice. But if you

(07:11):
take the temperature of the public's opinion, you would have
to say, yeah, there's a lot of people over it
because they got so much backlash from it that they
were forced to take it down. That's why a lot
of you missed it. I think embarrassingly took it down, right,
I mean not forced, No one you know that ahead
of ESPN and say take it down now. But they
were forced based on all the negative feedback that they got.

(07:33):
They were getting hit so hard with Come on, man,
these are icons. You know who was on there. I
thought it was funny. I mean again, if it's funny
and tongue in cheek, yeah, that's okay. Like the guy,
the security guy from the Jordan documentary. Remember that guy
with the curlafro. He's on the mural. But Tiger Woods

(07:53):
is not on the mural. Mike Tyson, I don't see
him either. Danny g Like I said, no UFC fighter,
Joey chestnutt no GSP no Chestnut. But again, the big
I guess obvious thing is the ten w NBA players. No,
you're not hating on w NBA players. In fact, later

(08:14):
today we're going to play a game called Chipotle Worker
or w NBA player. That's our way of familiarizing everybody
with w NBA players, But to put ten of them there,
it's a little overboard. It's a little much. It's starting
to rub people the wrong way, like, hey, are we just,
like Rich said, pandering or are we being real about

(08:35):
this stuff? Is it a joke because you got that
dude in it? Or are you being serious about it?

Speaker 3 (08:40):
To me?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
So people people took it real serious, and I think
it caught everybody by surprise. I don't think anyone should
take a mural posted on Twitter with any sense of like, wow,
there's really made me mad, Like the mural is an
honor and you would I was let to believe is
that something painted at a ESPN. It looks like something

(09:01):
that just it's a graphic. I'm just saying no one
should be mad at this, But it's also just another
example of like does no one read the room anymore? Again,
I think the best example, also outside of sports right now,
is that the cracker barrel story, whose stock has plummeted,
Like I just think we are we've hit a crossroads
now where everyone could see through bs and they're like

(09:22):
this is just silly, Like what are we doing? Should
any sports mural of icons contain ten w NBA players,
no UFC fighters, three baseball players? Like it's Michael Phelps
on there.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
I don't know, but is this is this a mural
of icons of the last twenty five years? Or is
this a mural of icons the last.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Is there said it's icons? According to some Jibbroni a ESPN,
it's the they're clearly promoting a lot of their own
Jabbroni Jones favorite.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yeah, like they're they're promoting like they have hosts of
there's a a I don't Dan, you helped me out
with this. There's a Michigan quarterback. I think, does anyone
know who this guy is? I think it's supposed to
be Bryce Underwood. Yeah, but he would take it over
that guy. Okay, there's a few college stars in there too.
I see Manning's in there.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
Yeah, Jeremiah Smith is there as well, near both Arch
and Bryce Underwood.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
I'm not mad at this. I just think it's so
like it's a story one when people miss the mark.
I'm like, how do people miss the mark?

Speaker 5 (10:23):
So if they're icons, we should all know their names, right,
we should know who they are and not have to
guess on who they are.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
Simply say it's the misuse of the word. I am dan.
If this was a mural, and again I'm not mad
even one percent. It just caught my eye today. But
if this is a mural and it said the rising
sports stars of this generation, I'd say, right, So possibly
miss labeled because other than like who on here? I

(10:53):
don't know.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I think they didn't want it to be like ninety
percent men. That's why they did throw some more women
in there.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
But there's women. Pretend why we're pretending these women are icons?
You got panding. We're full of maloney w NBA players.
I mean, can you name other than Caitlyn Clark and
Asia Wilson and Angel Reisk there's.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
A couple I don't recognize on.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Him exactly and you care about it and they put
juju on there.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Judie Watkins, who's not even in WNBA. She is a
big star, but she got injured last season.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
Come on the Najari Kennedy the picture from Texas Tech,
the softball pitcher who had an NIL deal over over
a million dollars. She's next to the security guard. So
that's from the Jordan documentary.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
That's what I was wondering who that was? Yes, where's
Brady at? I like the mural, like again if it
said like some of the cool faces or rising stars
or you know, but but I think, oh man, it's
like missing the mark. But then again, maybe smart for
them because they got us talking about a stupid post.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Who's putting the pie in each other's faces at the top.
I don't even know what that's all about. Some of
these are like almost like inside jokes at ESPN. It
looks like a Where's Waldough mural?

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, Naomio Osaka made this and Naomio Osaka is not
the player that she was five years ago, and she is.
I don't want to say front and center, but I
looked at the center of the graphic two guys to
be like, okay, who's your.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Icon of icons?

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Because that's how you put in the middle that show
Hey got lebron so show Hey lebron Asia Wilson, Kevin
Durant and Coco golf.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Is a Wilson? Is Asia Wilson the one on the aces?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yes, okay.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Kaitlyn Clark, though off to the left, Kaitlyn Clark and
Angel Reese are the most prominent because they're opposite of
each other. I noticed them right away. To me, they
stood out just as much as anyone else. So there's
so many questions that play here. First one is aren't
we over the pandering guys? Seems like the public is,
because that's why it is. Every time, by time a

(12:53):
publicly traded company or big company is like, we're gonna
We're gonna do something we think is like like the
right or nice thing to do. Perhaps backfires every time.
Perhaps there's people that think that's how you that's how
you make people uh popular and chronic reference, bud light reference.
So many companies that have been that have made mistakes

(13:15):
doing seen it over and over and over again. But
we've lived in that world for years now. So are
we at that point where it's done? Sports pandering, especially
because you're starting the messages in the end zone, are
no longer a thing because sports is something that's defined
by numbers and stats, like you could quantify the actual greatness, right,

(13:36):
so you're not fooling anybody. You're like, really, is that
person that great? I have the stats that say otherwise.
So sports panthering is like something you really can't fake.
So when you do that, a sports fan is like
icon on what planet? Tell me improved to me, show
me the the stats, show me the baseball reference as
to how w NBA, as to how they're an icon. Again,

(13:58):
it was posted on socials and deleted. The tweet was
deleted because of all the backlash. And then the second
part of the question is, well, then who really is
of icon status? Do you have to be an all
time great or can you be an up and coming
great to be part of that? You know, that could
be also a fair assessment, like hey, they're iconic, but

(14:20):
they're on their way up or we believe they're.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Going to be icons.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
And by the way, rich, the NFL is bringing back
the on field social justice messaging serious, Yeah for twenty
twenty five?

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah, what are we doing? But there's dude, there's so
many people missing from that. And that was a lot
of the feedback too, So many people missing from the
so called icons. Again, perhaps trickery as well. Maybe they
posted this with the with the thought of like, I
don't think so I don't, but that happens a lot.

(14:51):
You think they're potentially trolling us. Maybe they are, they
have to be kn't think.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
So there's also a lesson in here, and it's something
that I felt like we talked about behind the scenes
here at Fox Sports Radio, where this is what you
get when you send like a company wide thank you.
It's very very choppy waters because you're bound to leave
someone out. You read an obituary, it is a ranking
of who is important who isn't, and then you get

(15:15):
to the bottom and then there's everybody else. You set
out like a thank you to staff, and you forget
one person or yes, it's.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Like an acceptance speech a ward show. It's like, oh,
you know, it makes that even worse though, Like the
in memoriam sort of thing is like who oversaw that?
Who had the final say? And you know who dropped
the ball with something like this. You know, we're getting
all up in arms man at arms about it and
we're debating it and people are mad. But for all

(15:44):
we know, you think like some higher up had anything
to do with it. It's probably some young idiot whose responsibility
is social media and they put it out there just
to say they did something for today and everyone's making
a big deal about it. How do you know who
did it? And you think that has something to be

(16:04):
said about it were maybe we're overybe you just posted
something because he had to. Maybe we're overstating the process
over there. Yeah. So, but Dan Byer makes a good point.
That's why you don't do things like that because you're
going to cause a controversy. How did you forget this
person and that person? Remember when Tommy Gunn forgot to

(16:25):
thank Rocky Balboa when he won. But again, here's the
real evidence as to what we're saying. Dana White just
did what a pretty big deal with paramount.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Yeah one UFC on ESPN, it's Paramount, So they're not
promoting there, they're not promoting rivals properties.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
That proves the point.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
So they're taking Oh, these are the these are the
icons we have in the sports that we control, that
we put on our airwaves.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Exactly. That's That's exactly it. So you can't really say
their icons if you're leaving out particular sports.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
And there's also ESPN show hosts on there too. The
hottest chestnut not make it on this?

Speaker 1 (17:05):
How do we not have Joey? Yeah, perhaps he was
the biggest number of all.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
That case, I think that should be the headline here.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Yeah, who was the biggest number of all Coveno and Rich,
Dan Byer, Danny g and Sam say, Joey Chestnut.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Yea friend of the program.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
Yeah, and truthfully, maybe they look at him as a
side show.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
To make it very clear, I really don't care. And
by the way, if at all it's just broadcasters on
there is Gary Streiski on there because we happen to
believe he's thet I think he's the best, He's the
he is the icon up and coming. They got Brian Windhurst, right,
that dude Windhorse, Yeah, give me a break.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Hold on.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
I think he's great, he's knowledge well, he knows his basket.
But Gary streisk and Randy up there, Yeah, that's true talent.
I say, include them. I think Brian does a great job.
But I'm not hating him. I'm gonna believe that I'm
laughing at Rich's reaction is what I think the trash No,
so oh your thoughts. And again, the deeper question is
you can't really fake the funk when it comes to

(18:07):
sports pandering. You have stats to back that up. Wasn't
Brian Winhurst the guy that was pretending like he was
twice with Lebron and Lebron was like, yo, I don't
know you. Yeah, but that was rude. I thought that
was funny as hell. That was rude as hell, man,
I thought that was very rude. So again, if you
missed it is because they took it down. That's like

(18:30):
a side story that we thought was kind of fun today.
And Rich's rolling his eyes at it, just as is
many people. That's why I got taken down again. I
really am not losing sleep over this. I want to
make that very clear. It's just something that we saw
this morning. It's a slow sports day. Football is less
than two weeks away. My Mets are stinking. I'm scrolling.

(18:50):
I'm scrolling. I see this.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
You're mentioning more than stinking, man, they're like rotting.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Can I tell you that something that's really like some
rott I figurt that funk of forty thousand years. I
genuinely feel bad. They're like the Great Stink of eighteen
fifty eight. You know there was a Great Stink of
eighteen fifty eight. To people know that, I don't know
if I got the year wrong, So don't quote me
on it. Hold on, let's look at the great Stink,
the Great Stink eighteen Yeah, I was right, do you

(19:15):
know what it called the Great You want to hear
about the Great Stink of eighteen fifty eight, So I, yeah,
it's the Great Stink of a twenty twenty five. You're
great Stink of twenty twenty five is Brandon, Nimmo, Francisco,
Lindor and Wonsta. There's no in the mad Pitch, I forget. Actually, no,
there's no med on that mural, right, I hope now
the pitching staff is the Great Stink of twenty twenty five,
the Great Stack.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
At least you don't have Confardo anymore.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Hey, by the way, is Judge on that mural?

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yeah, I did see Joe.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Yeah, I didn't see him.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yeah he's there.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
No, I judge, Judy was on the mirror. The Great
Stink of eighteen fifty eight. It was the hot weather
of the summer of eighteen fifty eight in central London.
Unhuman treated waste made the whole city and the Thames
River smell like doo doo. The whole city smell like

(20:03):
it was like contaminated.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
So it was so bad, it says, it wafted it
into the houses of Parliament, forcing them to take action.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yeah, people were dying from the stink. People were dying
of the stink. For real, people with stinking. So if
your team is stinking, my favorite analogy is they're stinking
like the Great Stink of eighteen fifty eight, because that's
how the Mets are. And I find myself I hate
this because I'm not usually much of a hater. I'm
more of like a well whatever your team, you're happy.
Cavino and I have this Mets Yankees bet, and I

(20:32):
hate to say it, I was rooting for the Red
Sox pretty hard last night. I can't let your team
jump that far ahead of me. We have a thousand
dollar bet. I want this to go down to the
final week. I can't. I can't not be rooting for
the Red Sox this weekend. I apologize I wasn't going to.
And then you're a big Roman Anthony fan. Now you
see the batflip he did. It was a little aggressive,
but I liked it first game at Yankee Stadium. That's

(20:54):
what people need to understand is batflips aren't personal ninety
percent of the time starting It's just part of the game.
It's what you've been practicing in your backyard, playing Wi
football for your entire life. It's just part of the
swing nowadays. Watch the Little League World Series. All these
kids are doing the same thing. And he had a
pretty aggressive yet awesome bat flip last night.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
So Yanks if.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
You don't know what we're talking about. As far as
that mural though, at Rich Davis at Covin on Rich,
I don't know if you played. You can't leave out sports.
You can't leave out baseball, you can't leave out fighting.
How many soccer players that's a pretty big international sport.
I think there's like two soccer players. There was one
soccer player, one soccer three baseball players and ten so blaring,

(21:40):
what are you doing? Agenda of These are the sports
we cover, so therefore these are the icons that we choose. Yeah,
and people sniff that out a mile away. I think
we live in a world that no one no. It's
like no one likes when people are full of blogey.
That's a nice way to say, fully, give me the
stats before we move on there. As far as how

(22:01):
many athletes of each sport, I said, there are three baseball,
no golfers, no UFC, one soccer player, no hockey players
from a winning NHL team. Mike Tyson, no Mike Tyson, No,
Joey Chestnut. There were a.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Few more soccer players.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
But the point again, if icons, if you can't recognize
who they are right away, I think that defeats the
point as well.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
And you know, for the sake of conversation too. You're
always trying to win over new fans and a new
audience and young people. No, no, no, But if you're
putting old icons up there, so many young people are like, yeah,
aren't we done with like the Babe Ruths of the world, Like,
can we find some other icons? Maybe they're just trying

(22:43):
to pander to a younger audience, just to be fair, again,
don't use that word. Then maybe they're trying to he's
saying icons.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah, okay, guys, all aboard the pander express.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Holding on that for twenty minutes, should have held on
for twenty five minutes, holding up.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Should have held on till after four on the west side,
like another hour and a half. Maybe holding in a
fart there, thank you, saying let it appreciate you, thank you.
Sam So anyway, so it's a funny story. Nobody's five. Well, hey,
we're gonna talk some NFL. We got other stuff to
get to but uh, it was just on the radar
this morning, so hey, enjoy, we got more Covino and

(23:25):
Rich having fun on a Friday here at Fox Sports Radio.
All right, see and R on FSR Covino and Rich
sweeping the nation having fun. Ah loving the fact that
it's Friday. I'm loving the fact that tonight Anthony Roman

(23:48):
another bat flip.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
For what today's Friday.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
I hate that guy that batflip last night against the Yanks.
He was his way of saying, I'm going to own
your asses for the next decade in the Bronx. That
was in the upper deck last night, live from the
Fox Sports Radio studio. If you miss any of today's show,
you got to catch the podcast search Covino and Rich
wherever you get your podcasts. And after the show, our

(24:11):
best of us posted. And every Saturday, what time dn
EG does the best of the week drop drop six
a m Eastern drap. You know what else dropped today?
For the rock fans, New Deftones dropped today and a
brand new over Promised has dropped. That's our bonus podcast.
A new Dexter today. If you watch Dexter Resurrection, We're

(24:34):
happy being your dark passenger, you drive home hopefully, hope
you had a great day. Let's have a great weekend,
but again, Live from Fox Sports Studios in Los Angeles.
The numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox to
wrap up the final discussion, The last discussion. Yeah, what
makes this mural, the controversial mural that was taken down

(24:56):
today on ESPN's Twitter, is that it says all the
icon all, So we think, well, where's the legendary icons.
And the thing is there really aren't any, like if
you think in old school, there's no old school icons.
So maybe they're saying this is the new stuff. Either way,

(25:16):
it caused the big stir and if you missed it, boom,
you didn't miss much. You didn't miss much at all. Hey,
before we get to Jim Harbaugh, I know everyone's gonna
disagree on this one. Should he be suspended? We'll get
to that, but I do want to say that if
you are a baseball fan and you're excited that we

(25:36):
got thirty games left and then the postseason will be here,
you said that my Mets are playing like the Great
Stink of eighteen fifty eight. Yeah, like they're really bad.
They're rotting the pitching is so terrible. Do you know
that if they lose tonight and the Cincinnati Reds win,
the Mets are on the outside looking in for that
third wild card. That's how they have They're like Aaron Lewis,

(25:58):
have stained, man. I don't want to be on the
outside looking in. They're sad. They're a sad squad right now. Yeah, well,
but can they turn it around? Probably not. If I
were you, I'd get ready for your forty nine ers. Damn,
I know, you know. Let's talk some football now. I
saw Urban Meyer. I'm more of an NFL guy than
a college football guy. But I'm wondering what an Oscar

(26:20):
Meyer guy. I'm wondering what am I missing here? There
is a speculation that should Jim Harbaugh be suspended in
the NFL for something he did in college football? And
I can't even connect the dots on this. That would
be like la la connect that dots. I can't even

(26:43):
connect the dots pee wee Herman style. I can't even
think about how this makes sense. Meaning that would be
like if I worked at Walgreens, you know, work at
a drug store, and I got fired, and then I
worked at Chipotle and Chipotle wanted to punish me for
something I had done when I worked at Walgreens. I
don't get how you would equate the universe University of

(27:05):
Michigan to the Los Angeles charged the same sport. But
I agree I unless I am convinced otherwise. I'm very
much in the middle of this one, to be honest,
because I heard you and Danny g going back and forth.
But it's the same sport, but to me, completely different things.
We lo's here, Daniel, I don't even know the other
side of the argument. I can't even fathom it.

Speaker 6 (27:24):
I mean, should he be suspended by the NFL that
it seems kind of ridiculous except for the fact there's
precedent here and Jim Tressel was fined right and suspended
or did he He was fired by fired.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Biohos State because of the tattoo scandal that occurred at
the school. Part of the NCAA's punishments where a ban
for Trestle, who was no longer in the college game.
His next job was with the Colts is a replay
assistant and analyst sort of job. Not only did he
serve a six game suspension, Terrelle Pryor, who was a

(28:01):
part of that scandal as well, ended up being drafted
by Danny's Raiders and served a five game suspension at
the start of his NFL career because of the penalties
that were handed down in college. That's where the precedent is.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
It's it's really interesting that there is a precedent because
in my mind, legally, I would imagine good luck trying
to enforce that. I mean, again, what you're saying makes sense.
I'm not doubting the credibility and thoughts of what Dan
Bayer said, But to me, Ka, that would be like
if if you did something terrible here at Fox Sports

(28:34):
ready on Scott Shapiro and Don Martin and Julie and
everyone's like, Cavino, You're fired, you know, or you just
left and they found out, you know, Cavino was cheating
the whole time, or doing something at Fox Sports, and
then you got hired by NBC Sports. They're not going
to suspend me, like he was cheating on the last
one standing yeah, I'll give you like I was, yeah,
I was accused of that. I was insulting when you uh, yeah.

(28:56):
He made a solid point off the air and Danny G.
I'll just say it and you could back it up.
You said something along the lines of yeah, but that's
also to prevent other college coaches from doing illegal things
knowing they could still get promoted into the NFL. I
think it's a memory. He was investigated in penalized. There

(29:17):
shouldn't be a scouting and sign stealing, and he was,
you know, he was going rogue in college football. In
the back of his mind, he's probably thinking, what happens
they suspend me, I don't caro, I'll go back to
the NFL. And that's what Danny G was explaining, like
there should be a precedent set that, hey, you can't
do it on this level and then think you could
just go away and avoid the penalties.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
And even though it's not the NFL, rich it is
in essence the minor leagues to the NFL. So the
two are related. You can't say, oh, Walmart and Target
or whatever your example was, that that's not a correct analogy.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
There's also a timing thing of it as well, where
before the penalties handed out, the person has already left door,
has been dismissed from their job and moved on to
another one. So like Harbaugh took the Chargers job, has
been there for a year and a half now, and
we didn't finally come to find out what the penalties
were until recently.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
You know, they would be like it would be like
an ex girlfriend of mine finding out that I cheated
on her at spring break. Meanwhile, like, I'm married with children,
she's married with children. It's twenty years later, and like
me being held accountable, Like, well, when you were in
Alcopolka with Cavino, I know what you did. It's like, yeah,
it's twenty years later.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
This wasn't twenty years later though.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
But I'm just saying it's just like if I'm Jim Harbaugh,
I'd be laughing at this, Like are you kidding me?
I said, some of them become the head coach of
the Chargers beat at college kiddos.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Yeah, you said something that this makes sense, and I
don't think anybody thinks that it does. But it happened before,
just like I don't think people thought it made sense
fifteen years ago when this happened. And here's the other
thing with it, Jim Tressel lost his job. Jim Harbaugh
didn't lose his job at Michigan. He just went and
took another one that put him in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
That's the other thing with that line of thinking, though, Right,
he would have been fined and suspended in college. Right, Yes,
so you're saying, well, he should be suspended in the NFL.
Give him credit for getting ahead of it. If someone
got fired for doing that, right, what are you gonna say,
they can't ever get hired again because they were fired
from the previous job. If the previous job matters and
this guy was fired, then with that line of thinking,
he should ever be hired again.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
Well, you're right. And what was crazy with the Trestle
thing was not only was he fired, but then he
was still suspended because of what went on, even though
I would say that losing your job was probably punishment enough.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Oh God, Like this happens in boxing in UFC. Once
a while, Ryan Garcia was drunk or on drugs or
something allegedly, who knows. Remember he said some terribly racial
stuff on like an Instagram live and sort of lost
a little bit, remember Ryan Garcia, And then there was
accusations of drugs when he fought Hill. When he fought

(31:55):
Ryan Garcia, remember it wasn't tank because he was emaciated
in that fight. Who hell did he find?

Speaker 6 (32:01):
Remember?

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Ryan Garcia won? Garcia? Then in between Romero, who do
you fight? I forget, he beat someone that he wasn't
expected to beat. Come on, you're the boxing guy. I
don't know, man, I forget. We were at the fight.
He was on.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Osteren What did you fight? Anyway?

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Point was Ryan Garcia? He had like a small tiny
percentage of ostering in the system. Devin Haney. Yeah, he
beat he annihilated Devon ha and then when he got
suspended from boxing, I remember, the speculation was like, all right,
he'll just fight the UFC or go do something else
or fight on another card. People do that all the time,
like you get fired, you get in trouble, Yeah, you leave,

(32:36):
You try to get ahead of it and go somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
I feel like in the past, college coaches, and I'm
struggling to come up with an example, but I feel
like it has happened. College coaches will leave their old
program in the dust, and then there's like repercussions that
come out and then they just go the NFL and
they just go on their merry way and do their
jobbing in the errol.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah, there you go that's the one. Yeah, thank you, Dan,
I don't know, let's go them buy for an update.
I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone thinks Harbor
is going to have any consequences.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
I think it's because of the president. You know, yes,
it's that's that's the reason why. Anyway, I know you
have your endearment for Jim Harbaugh because of a former
forty nine Ers head coach. So there's there's probably that.
There's also probably some news with the forty nine Ers
that you're interested in. They acquired Brian Robinson Junior today
in a trade from the Washington Commanders. Commander is getting

(33:27):
a six to round pick from the Niners as part
of that deal.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Well, the Niners are light at the wide receiver position
to start the season, with Ayuk still sidelined and Juwan Jennings. Well,
everyone's a little banged up, so this is probably good
for the forty nine Ers.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
For the part.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
He's a running back, the running back Bryan Robbins. Yes, yes,
but they're always injured there as well, so that's a
tradition and like any other Yes, the Minnesota Vikings and
Carolina Panthers have had talks about a trade that would
send wide receiver Adam Thielen back to the Vikings. Panthers
gave right tackle Taylor Moten a two year extension contract.
News in Baseball the Orioles and catcher Samuel but Si

(34:00):
I've agreed on an eight year, sixty seven million dollar extension.
He was just called up last weekend. Texas Ranger centerfielder
Having Carter could miss the rest of the season because
of a fractured right wrist. Indiana Fever guard Kaitlin Clark
dealing with a bone bruce and her left ankle suffered
in a workout earlier this month. She missed a month
of action because of a right groin injury and has
not returned to practice. In Golf Tour Championship, Tommy Fleetwood

(34:22):
and Russell Henley lead after two rounds at thirteen under
Scotti Scheffler five back, Rory McElroy six.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Back Back to you guys.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
D me appreciate you. My friend TB was talking about
tattoos before from Fantasy Island. No, not that tattoo, the
plain bossty plain actual tattoos. What do you think about
family tattoos? What do you think about matching tattoos? In
matching outfits. What do you think about stuff like that? Interesting? Well,
one of the all time icons is in the news

(34:51):
when it comes to it, and I agree, this guy's
an icon. So we'll get to that. Plus something this
something that is rubbing Kavino the wrong way, and we
need to take the temperature of the Fox Sports Radio Nation.
It's something I do at a fast food restaurant that
Kavino has a major problem with, and I feel like
it's totally fine. You think it's totally fine. You know why,
because you think you're the greatest guy in the world

(35:13):
and everything you do is great. And that's the real
core of why it's even more wrong the fact that
you can't even recognize can't wait to discuss this. Hey
more Cavino on Rich next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
I'm looking in. I'm feeling those lighters, remember the live

(35:37):
version with Fred Durst. Let me tell you, if the
Mets lose tonight, they will be on the outside looking in,
said Aaron Lewis. Nationally wild card up for grabs. And
by the way, you're Yankees.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
They're no better.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
They're no better. And I think they have the defensive
skills of like a high school team. Dude, they have
more errors in their games than Little League World Series games. Yeah,
yesterday I was the box score. Sorry, I was rooting
for the Socks, and I was like, it's three three
and the Yankees have four errors, four errors, walk the
nine batters. That's just a regular Thursday night for them.
I'm not even joking you. Literal League teams have less

(36:13):
errors and less mental errors than the Yankee Did you.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
Guys watch what I sent to you that Dan sent
that to me and Jason and Doug. That was hilarious.
It was like Aaron Boone at the podium.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Oh it was a It was AI, but it was
there's an AI. Oh so good video of Aaron Boone
saying crazy thing called him Aaron Fudge. My mom thinks
they're real. By the way, live from the Fox Sports
Radio stadio. What Aaron Boone said month We're past that. Yeah,
he called it Aaron fudge. It is so funny. Uh,

(36:43):
it's time for our tire rack. Play of the day.
Jackson Dark continued to light up the preseason.

Speaker 7 (36:49):
Takes the snap, stands in the pocket, fires over in
the middle, caught tucksdown. It's Dulcic Dart hooking up with
Dulcic in consecutive games and the Giants, it's like, first
three minutes and one second into the game.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
And Jameis Winston was eating the w bro, eating the
win eating the w That's courtesy of the Giants Radio Network,
and that was our Tyrack play of the day. For
over forty years, Tyraq has been helping customers find the
right tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship
fast and free back by free Road has a protection

comly tire buying should be against Cabino and rich and

(37:24):
if you just joined us, Danny g thinks Jim Harbaugh
should be suspended from what he did in college. Rich
Davis says absolutely not, two completely different things. What he
did in college should have no weight on what he
does in the NFL, no consequence, and that's why he

(37:45):
moved on. You'll says, well, that's why you shouldn't do it,
because then you have reason to move on. But you'll
remember that that is a part of the person's character,
right Like it's it's not a good thing for Jim
Harbaugh's reputation, but there's no real you know, punishment. Like
I said, I use the girlfriend analogy. If you cheated
on your college girlfriend when you're on spring break in
al Capoulco. Hey, you're sort of a dirt bag. But

(38:07):
if you're married with kids and happy, now, that would
be like paying the price for you know, being a
dumb twenty year old kid like I know it was
only a couple of years ago, but still, well, here's
what's coming up. Yeah, we gotta talk Lebron. We gotta
play Chipotle worker or WNBA player. Trying to familiarize with
all these icons. You negative Chipotle, You have a problem
with something I do, and I want to get to
that in a second. But I gotta say hi to

(38:27):
Chuck as he nails it on our inshow thread on
the Fox Sports Radio Covino on Rich YouTube page, which,
by the way, you could play along with streaming live. Now,
what's up? Everybody's a live chat if you go to
Covino and Rich FSR and YouTube. Uh And Chuck said,
loving the YouTube feed, I get home from work, throw
this on, pours himself a drink and watches us. So

(38:48):
all you that thanks speaking out, We're gonna give you
other things to watch later today on weekend hobnobbing. Well,
I do something at Chipotle that Cavino has a major
problem with, and I think it's worth setting up. Now
we'll dive in. It's kind of gross. I don't think
it's gross at all. I go to Chipotle twice a
week because I think it's the best fast food place.
This is not a commercial. I'm giving them props. That's

(39:08):
great if you're gonna eat crappy. It's not really that crappy.
It's like, what do you got the chicken ball with guak?
And it heavy?

Speaker 3 (39:15):
It is salty.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
I always feel like heavy. Yeah, but it's good if
I'm getting a burrito bowl or burrito from my wife
and I it's like thirty five forty dollars. Okay, so
what overpriced? But delicious doesn't give you a right to
do what you're about to say. I'm a Chipotle fan.
Cavino has a problem. You got a problem with this.

(39:38):
Cavino has a problem that my little f you back
to Chipotle is I grab a big pile of forks
and a huge stack of knaps stacks and handfuls of utensils,
handfuls like barrels of utensils he has collected, and condiments.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Because you're taking the food to a picnic.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
There's a reason. Yeah, there's a reason. There's a thirty
five dollar brito because of him.
