Guys.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Football tonight, Dolphins at the Steelers. The Dolphins could move
to five hundred. They're not totally eliminated from the playoff picture.
We'll talk about those teams that are, including your Kansas
City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes is out haveing MRI on that
knee because there's different grades there. If it's a grade one,

(00:33):
grade two, grade three is the worst and that could
be a twelve month recovery period, but it'll be somewhere
between six and twelve months. Take it from me having
experienced that. Bills over the Patriots, Broncos over the Packers,
the injuries with the Packers, the Rams, and the Lions,
Panthers right on que just as scripted I said on Friday,

(00:56):
they shouldn't lose. People are going to buy into them
and use the team that's not as good in that
division that wins. And here are the Saints winning again.
Philip Rivers did okay, Seahawks pull out the win. You
got a big game coming up on Thursday between the
Seahawks and the Rams eight seven seven to three. DP

(02:07):
Question stat of the Day. All of that coming up.
No movement on Michigan's coaching front. Caylin de Boor keeps
saying he's not interested in any other jobs. But he
is still the leading candidate on a lot of these
different websites as far as best odds to become the
next Michigan head coach. Fernando Mendoza wins the Heisman and

(02:31):
that was the story of the year. Indiana number one team.
They beat Ohio State. Mendoza's numbers were good and gave
a wonderful speech leave it to Fritzy to go.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I don't know. Seemed a little too nice in that speech.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Not bony, just like almost eerie nice. It's not like
a Disney employee nice. Well, let's over the top.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Why are you doing I thought it was a great speech.
I thought it was wonderful speech. He gave part of
it in Spanish. I thanked his parents. I thought it
was great.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Can you beat that nice? I'm gonna go do some digging.
There's gotta be something on this guy. I'm on a missie.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I think it's because you felt worse about yourself because
of friend.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
But there's gotta be an ill advised tweet when he
was in junior high school or some kind of racial comments.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Something's got to be something with this guy. What's going
on with this so perfectly nice?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well, let's hope there isn't okay, So Patrick Mahomes is out.
We'll talk to Nick Wright, Kanas City Chiefs fan, Fox
Sports one host. He'll join us coming up best and
Worst of the week on your phone. Calls are always
welcome eight seven to seven, three DP show and a
poll question in the first hour of the program seat
and will provide that you start to look at the AFC.

(03:42):
You look at you know, some of these quarterbacks who
might not be in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Joe Burrow boit, what did it happened? What happened to
the Bengals?

Speaker 2 (03:48):
You know, you beat the Ravens and then all of
a sudden you get shut out at home against the Ravens.
But Patrick Mahomes Chargers. What's gonna get lawin the Patrick
Mahomes injury is the Chargers winning that game. That was
a big game, big game, winning it in that climate.

(04:09):
And you know, you got the Chargers and the Jags,
and I don't know if everybody or I don't know
how many of you are all in on those two teams. Yes,
the Jags haven't played anybody second half of the year,
but they won those games. It's weaken and week out
where we go. How did you lose to that team?
So I do have to give them credit, you know,

(04:29):
granted they beat up on the Jets. Trevor Lawrence looked great.
Liam Cohn has done a really good job with Jacksonville.
Came over from Tampa's. Their offensive coordinator's done a really
good job, just like he did with Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
And you know the.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Kansas City loss, the Chargers did just enough to win
that game. And that's all you need to do when
you get to the playoffs. You know there's degree of difficulty,
it doesn't matter. You don't get stylized points. You just
win the game. But you start to look at Josh
Allen and what he did in the second half, you

(05:05):
know that's what you need. That was a playoff like performance.
You're down twenty one to nothing, you're in New England
and all of a sudden, social media has got your
coach fired, and Bills will never win a Super Bowl
and the you know, the Patriots could be the best
team in football to Buffalo ends up winning that game.

(05:28):
And now you don't have Mahomes in there, you don't
have Joe Burrow. I don't know if we're going to
have Lamar Jackson, but you do have Josh Allen, and
Josh Allen is the best quarterback right now in football.
If I was going to look at can that guy
win a game? That guy, you know, Stafford's probably going
to be your MVP. But I'm looking at one guy dominating,

(05:50):
and Josh Allen is that guy. Now, I don't think
the team is great. They might be good, but what
he's doing and now what we expect him to do,
this isn't the best Buffalo team. I love James Cook
and he runs hard. I just I don't know if
they have enough, but maybe they don't need enough this
year because we're not sure about Jacksonville. The Texans Chargers

(06:13):
Denver looked really good. That defense was impressive, really impressive,
and you know that's what you want. You beat a
Green Bay team and now all of a sudden, Michael
Parsons is out, probably for the rest of the year.
It looks like the injuries with the Packers. Now it's
up to can Jordan Love be that kind of guy?

(06:36):
Can he win you games? You get to this point
in the season and you look at your quarterback and say,
can you be the difference? Can Justin Herbert be the difference.
Bo Nicks sometimes can be the difference, but he doesn't
have to be the difference all the time because that
defense is really good. But bow Knicks when he plays
well and that defense, they could be the best team

(06:57):
in the AFC, the best team in the NFL. The Rams,
we've seen them where they're like unbelievable, and then we
see them where we go, wait a minute, what happened?
Stafford played well. I still think that's a really balanced team.
I want to make sure that you know injuries with
the Rams, because this time of the year, everybody's dealing

(07:19):
with this, and I think that's the that's the key
is let's win. Let's stay healthy too, and then you
got the game tonight with the Steelers and the Dolphins.
All right, Seaton, let's pull question today.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Well, we got a bunch of teams in the hunt here.
So if we were at a run down this list Lions, Cowboys, Panthers, Colts, Ravens, Dolphins,
who gets in.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Oh, I probably have to take a closer look at
all of that. I mean, the Lions are in a
tough division. Bears ended up winning. I mean, the Vikings
beat the Cowboys, but they're out of the playoff picture,
so I'd have to look at how you measure up
in your division.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
Here there are some teams that jump out just by
name value that you're like, oh, they're obviously in and
others that are in there that are like obviously not
Like the Lions to me is like, obviously they're going
to make it. They should, they should, they should, right.
The Ravens to me is still the same thing. I
know there's a weird Ravens team, but I still have
it in my head of like, obviously, depending on the week,

(08:24):
they could be the best team you ever saw the worst.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
And you're in that division where it might be the
first team to nine wins gets into the post season.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Yes, I want to believe in the Panthers, but then
they have that egg against the Saints and they'll last
three games. They got to play the Bucks twice, which
will tell us a lot about that division and the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Between those two Bucks games for Carolina.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, even Seattle, Like I'm still not sure they could
have lost. They could have lost that game at home
to a grandpa. And I'm watching the game, and look,
if Philip came on the show, I would say I
think my arm might be stronger than yours, and he

(09:05):
would probably agree.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
But he did.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Okay, I keep And you know, after the game, he
was really emotional for the opportunity to be able to
come back and play.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
Grateful, I mean grateful running out for warm ups and
all that, and out there from anthem and as the
game just got going, I was just thankful, grateful.

Speaker 9 (09:29):
That I was out there, and I was a blast.
It was a blast.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
But obviously the emotion is now our disappointment, right, disappointment.

Speaker 9 (09:37):
You know, I'm this isn't about me.

Speaker 8 (09:40):
You know, we had a team that was scrapping like
crazy to trying to stay alive and get in the postseason.

Speaker 9 (09:44):
So obviously we're all disappointed.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yeah, but he did a pretty good job.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
But really the star for the Colts to me was
their defense keeping Seattle in check in Seattle, but Philip
Rivers threw a touchdown pass and they had a chance
to win the give credit to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
You end up winning that game.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
That's a big game, and then you got the game
coming up on Thursday night against the Rams. But this
was about comebacks. Six teams Bills, Falcons, Saints, Rams, Seahawks,
Chargers rallied from at least ten down to win in
Week fifteen. That's the second time this season six teams
have rallied to win after trailing by ten or more.

(10:35):
The stat of the Day brought to you by Panini
America also with Justin Herbert. He now has almost thirty
two hundred passing yards twenty three touchdown passes. And the
reason why I bring that up they only players in
the history of the NFL with at least three thousand
passing yards and at least twenty passing touchdowns in each
of their first six seasons. Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Who stand of a.

Speaker 9 (11:02):
Day Stantana day stead of a day Stanata day?

Speaker 3 (11:08):
This is the stule of the day. And how about
my Raiders.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yes, at the beginning of the year, I bet Fritzy
the Raiders would have a better record than the Broncos.
They were shut out thirty one to nothing. Now keep
in mind I can go back to Week seven when
they were shut out thirty one to nothing by the Chiefs. Yes,
they're the first team to be shut out by the
Super Bowl teams from the previous year since the Colts

(11:38):
in nineteen seventy two and they were shut out by
the identical score. Congratulations, Raiders, Congratulations, Like Pete Carroll said, no,
this team hadn't quit.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
You know, the scary part is like if they if
he said no, I think we quit.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
The fact that he says no, we didn't quit and
you lost thirty one another, that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Yes, Todd, and that was a Super Bowl fifteen rematch.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
You got to get up for these kind of games.
I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Thank you, Tom, all righty uh seating. Now any other
poll questions today?

Speaker 9 (12:15):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (12:16):
Yeah, this is a little off the beaten path, baby,
off the seat path. Which quarterback had the best weekend? Ooh,
I'll give you four options?

Speaker 3 (12:27):
All right, brock Party. Okay, it's against the Titans.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
But okay, well you're gonna be able to say that
against all these guys. But these, to me are all
guys that needed a big weekend and got it.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Oh oh, so Josh Allen's not on this list.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Josh Allen is on this list. He's the next quarterback.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Oh yeah, but he beat the Patriots in New England.
Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean that's better than brock Party
beating the Titans.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Uh Brock Party, he needed a big weekend.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
Okay, okay, Uh, Josh Allen obviously monster weekend.

Speaker 7 (12:57):
C J.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Stroud sort of up and down, especially this third year.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
You know, I don't even know what his numbers were, and.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
He gets he gets that sort of label of like, well,
his defense is carrying it. That's true, which may or
may not be true. However, he still had a he
still had a pretty great weekend.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
Trevor Lawrence, Oh, maybe had one of the best games
of his career.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Probably right has to be the best game accounted for
six touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I mean that's yeah, that was great.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Those are your four us Okay, Rock Party, Josh Allen,
c J Stroud, Trevor Lawrence. Maybe there's others. If anyone
else would like to populate, I.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Would put Trevor Lawrence in there, because, like, we still
want to see this and the fact that he showed
that he's capable of doing this, you know that that's
what surprised me. I Mean, everybody's played the you know,
those who played the Jets, how many you know quarterbacks
have put up these kind of numbers. We're still waiting

(14:00):
to see. Is will the real Trevor Lawrence, please stand up.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
That's yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:03):
You keep we keep getting every once in a while,
every couple of weeks, you get a glimpse of Trevor Lawrence,
the one that we expected to see, Yeah, and the
one that we all want to see, and you're like.

Speaker 10 (14:11):
See, there it is. That's the guy. If he could
just do that every week, he'd be a Hall of Famer. Yeah, yes, Paulie, I.

Speaker 11 (14:22):
Gotta throw Phil Rivers in there. I mean what people
expected from him. People said that would be a disaster.
NFL reporters and analysts said to be a disaster. He
was eighteen for twenty seven and a touchdown, and he
kept them in it. He was only sacked once. He
didn't run for a yard because he didn't want to,
but he had that. He drove them down just enough

(14:42):
to get a field goal to.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Take the lead. He didn't give it up. Yes, Todd,
I would.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
Vote for Trevor Lawrence, but I think at least and
also ran oh Nick's four touchdowns over three hundred yards
against Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Should be mentioned a shocker. Shocker.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
It should be in the mix of the discussion.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Yeah, in case you're not watching on Peacock Todd is
uh deck downncos gear Han a Go Bronco shirt?

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Now could I wear that in lieu of taking a
pie to the face? If I wore that sweater on
Friday the entire day.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
It seems like an easy way out, you know, in
the spirit of the holidays. I would probably allow it
so that you don't have to get the pie in
the face, because I'm a good guy like that.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
I think that would be a noble gesture.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
I thought you'd doubled down on Friday, wasn't it. I
had the bet with the Wisconsin lady and.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Then you umped in on that.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
No, it was going to take away my pie if
green Bay won. I didn't double down. He you know,
we had a caller who said, hey, if green Bay wins,
then Dan doesn't take the pie to the face, and
whatever the other wording was with that bet. But I
it was either I was getting a pie or not.
I'm going to get a pie on Friday.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
And when people call in, you know, I'm assuming that
this is true. If you lose, they have to send
in an actual video so we can have fun with
it with a look at it and see that.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
They actually took the pie. To the face. They can't
just say I got a pie to the face.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
We have people who send them in tod.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
But I'm almost make sure everyone does that.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Well, why don't you write them down?

Speaker 11 (16:06):
Then?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Why don't you keep track? And are you owed a
pie to the face?

Speaker 12 (16:12):
Mm?

Speaker 5 (16:13):
Yeah, well for her for the packer Bronco bet and
us with the twelve and two two and twelve Broncos.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Right, no, no, no, you don't get a pie to the face,
do not? Yeah, Okay, Marvin's got one, and I've got one.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Seaton's got to get a spray tan. We got to
clean all this up by the end of the year.
But I'll be happy to take a pie of the
face on Friday, or I'll wear your Hanuka Broncos sweater
the entire show.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
That's pretty wild, yes, didn't we just we used to
have someone on social media that would keep track of
these bets. I don't know if that person's out of
business or how accurate it was, but I remember saying
that on Twitter if there was a while where they
would literally listing all the different bets that were.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
Going, what exactly what kind of business is that that
you keep track of? Pie to the face.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
It's not going to get very wealthy. It's a nice
little fun So.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
How about we take a break.

Speaker 2 (17:01):

The Dolphin's getting three against the Steelers over under his
forty two and a half for entertainment purposes only the
MVP odds.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
They are.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Certainly leaning towards Matthew Stafford here, certainly after that performance.
Drake May played well. That New England defense couldn't get
a stop. So Matthew Stafford is your MVP favorite right
down minus three hundred. Then it's Drake May. Josh Allen
is creeping in. This was a two man race. Now
all of a sudden, it's Josh Allen in there at

(18:33):
plus five point fifty Drake May plus four twenty five
Super Bowl odds, it's the Rams, then it's Seattle, then
it's the Broncos, then the Bills, Eagles, Texans, Patriots, Packers,
with three weeks to go for those teams, but the
Rams and Seahawks Thursday night, Broncos look good. That defense

(18:57):
really good, and if you get above average play from
bow Nix and no turnovers, they're gonna win.

Speaker 14 (19:05):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Bill's that was magical because you kept thinking, man, New
England looks unbelievable, and then all of a sudden, it's
Buffalo looks unbelievable, and then Buffalo ends up winning that game.
The Eagles they needed a game like that. I know
it's against the Raiders. But this is where Jalen Hurds
throws three touchdown passes. AJ Brown got one, So you know,

(19:29):
now it kind of simmers a little bit. It quiets
down a little bit. The Texans still look good. Then
you have the Patriots. The Packers are banged up. Eight
seven to seven to three. DP show email address DP
at Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle a DP show Chris,
and Syracuse leads us off. Good morning, Chris, what's on
your mind today?

Speaker 7 (19:49):
Hey?

Speaker 12 (19:49):
Thanks Dan? Hey, I got a best and worst for
you and a request of you and the toddler my best.
Fernando Mendozes Heisman accepted speech, thanking his mom and also
thanking his coaches for us. He said, countless hours of
film sessions and meetings, and I read Indiana spends a
lot more time in film sessions and meetings than most

(20:10):
big time college football programs, and maybe less time on
the practice field keeps your players fresher, and I guess
mental reps are as important as physical ones. And also
most schools complain that the NCAA ham strings them by
limiting their weekly practice hours on the field to only
twenty a week. The Indiana Hoosiers football program this year,

(20:31):
only spent between five and six hours a week on
the practice field, so obviously working for them. In my
worst said's dead, Dan, Said's dead. Actor Peter Green, who
played Zed and Pulp Fiction, passed away at only sixty
this weekend. And the article I read said he was
a fantastic guy. And it also said he's considered to
be one of the greatest character actors on the planet.

Speaker 9 (20:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (20:54):
I loved him in Pulp Fiction. And yeah, he'll be
missed definitely, And Dan, I was wondering if, maybe later
in the show, so Todd has a little time to
prepare in honor of this year's Heisman Trophy winner, that
Fritzie could belt out a few bars of the classic
song Fernando. And with Todd's comments in the opening segment today,
maybe you os Fernando a little love.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah, yeah, I don't know, Todd, and you can go Abo. Yeah,
of course they're all good songs by Aba Diego. Pavilla
had some social media comments. He has since walked those
back and said basically what he should have said, Hey,
Fernando Mendoza a wonderful year, an Indiana wonderful year, and

(21:39):
wish them well and Hey, I'm about being an underdog
and I finished second. That's an honor and my team
and we look forward to playing in the whatever Bowl
that we're playing in. But when you say f the
voters and you talk about how close you came, you
didn't come close. You finished second, but you know you

(21:59):
were four one hundred first place votes, I think behind
Fernando Mendoza and you had a wonderful year. But it
feels like he wants to be Johnny Manziel. I hope
he doesn't want to be like Johnny Manziel. Great story
what he did Vandy the past two years. You put

(22:20):
them into the playoff contention, Heisman vote, just all the
goodwill New One did with a couple of social media
and and you know, you're with your buds and all
of a sudden you put something out there and you
know you.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Do away with a lot of the goodwill that you
build up this year.

Speaker 15 (22:40):
Yeah, Martin, he just feels like he's going to be
doing celebrity boxing in about three or four years. Just
his personality, how he came off this weekend at a club,
you know, saying bleat Indiana.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Yeah, come on, well that's where you know you get
with your buds. I don't know if people are drinking,
but you're at a club and everybody is having a
good time, and somebody gets a squirrely idea and then
next thing you know, you're posting that he had a
great year. He had a great year last year. He's
fun to watch. But you know, Fernando Mendoz. Now we

(23:16):
can look at Fernando Mendoza's season and say, was he
the best player? He was the best player on the
team that had the best story. And sometimes that's how
it works. I mean, it used to be you had
the number one team, you had to give it to somebody.
Gino Terretta, Jason White and Oklahoma, Eric Crouch at Nebraska,

(23:39):
mark Ingram at Alabama. So not everybody has a great year.
It's a great story as well. Because a lot of voters,
and me being one of them, how many are watching games,
how many are watching highlights? How many are reading what
somebody is putting in the time to give you that information,

(24:02):
and then all of a sudden, you know, you go,
I got an informed decision.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Here, an informed opinion.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Okay, I mean I voted Jeremiah Love second and Diego
third on my list. You know, I don't apologize for that,
and I thought Fernando played well. He beat Ohio State,
he won the Big Ten, they went undefeated, and yes,
did they have a close game against Penn State, Yes

(24:29):
they did. He came up with a big play there.
And then all of a sudden, it felt like, you know,
the the propaganda campaign was on and everybody was saying, Oh,
it's going to be Fernando Mendoza. I mean, he was
a transfer that came in. And I go back to
when Kirk kirk Street said in the preseason, keep an
eye on Fernando Mendoza. Now I don't know the exact words,

(24:51):
but you know they got him. That's a big transfer,
and now you know you're the number one team in
the country. Did he have the best numbers? No, he
did not. I mean Julian say in that Ohio State
had an incredible year. You're completing eighty percent of your passes,
but you're also throwing to a couple of wide receivers

(25:11):
who are going to be first round draft picks, and
people probably factored that in as well.

Speaker 15 (25:15):
Yes, Mark, and he probably had the best road winning
all of college football this year, winning at Oregon anytime
they had a big game, they came up big.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Yeah, that was a big deal. When they beat Oregon.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
That's when I think they appeared on the radar of Oh,
this year's Indiana is going to be Indiana because we
were looking for you know, Indiana was that team last year.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
Who's going to be Indiana this year? It turned out
to be Indiana. All right. Derek in Indiana, Hi, Derek,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (25:47):
You had to have five to six two hundred pounds. Yeah,
I want to call in Best of the weekend. Obviously,
I'm a big Indiana fan. Mendozo winning the Heisman something
I'd never see in my lifetime.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Years old.

Speaker 16 (26:01):
Worst of the Weekend, John mellencampell in sixty minutes smoking
a cigarette.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
John's gonna smoke. He's not stopping, They're not giving it up,
doesn't matter. He's gonna smoke eaters until he dies. So
I'd be surprised if he wasn't smoking, Let's put it
that way. David in Ohio, Hi, David, welcome back.

Speaker 17 (26:31):
Hey, they invested and worst of the weekend watching Todd
Broncos taking control of the AFC West. It's great to.

Speaker 16 (26:38):
See somebody not the Chiefs.

Speaker 17 (26:41):
Doing well in that division. And the worst is the
Patriots collapse in dramatic fashion against the Buffalo Bills that
of the day. The last time the New England Patriots
blew ay lead that big to the Buffalo Bills was
September twenty fifth, twenty eleven. Pats led twenty one not
and still lost.

Speaker 16 (27:01):
Thirty four to thirty one.

Speaker 14 (27:04):
Startup the day, Start of the day, Start of the day,
Start of the day.

Speaker 9 (27:09):
A statu the day Status, Day.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Status day, stat of the day, brought to you by
a Panini America. I was really curious how Joe Burrow
was going to play this weekend because of the comments
earlier in the week where it sounded really dark, like
do I want to play if I'm not having fun?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
What am I doing?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Just turn twenty nine and then you watch man put
a stamp on it and mail it in. That was embarrassing, embarrassing. Look,
the Ravens are potentially a good team. They're not that
much better than the Bengals. And this is a Bengal
team that beat Baltimore a couple of weeks ago in Baltimore.

(27:49):
But you start to wonder as they kind of limped
to the finish line. What is the off season going
to be like? There are a couple of teams you
start thinking about, like Kansas City. Now you got some
real decisions to make here. And that is Okay Mahomes
and that injury. When is he going to be healthy?
They still haven't shored up the offensive line. I know

(28:10):
they had injury. Everybody has injuries. The wide receivers maybe
aren't who we thought they were. Travis Kelce I would say,
this is it. I mean, you got to Andy Reid.
Is he going to continue to coach? Is he in
for rebuild? And it feels like rebuildish. I don't think

(28:31):
this is reloadish. It's rebuildish. And Andy Reid is seventy
maybe somewhere, yeah, probably close to then Yeah, Paulie.

Speaker 11 (28:43):
Yeah, he's sixty seven years old. Okay, they'll be sixty
eight next season. I did the math. Uh, but is
it one of those things where you don't want to
go out like this where whether it be read or
I don't want to get into Kelsey. But Reid has
to think to himself, I'm not going out like this.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
I don't in your Hall of Fame coach.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
You may walk off after a Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
That's that's the likely one.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Yeah, but then you go, oh, why wouldn't we run
this back? There's no perfect timing.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
No Travis Kelcey is done, I think. I mean, it's
unbelievable first ballot.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
But I don't think he can say I don't want
to go out this way because I don't know if
he can be any better. He's been healthy. I think
for the most part, it's just Patrick Mahomes takes way
more hits than you think. He might take more hits
than any other quarterback this season. I'd have to look
at the numbers, but I think it's really close. But

(29:39):
also people are going to make this comparison. Hey, at
this stage of his career, Tom Brady suffered a knee injury,
and now Patrick Mahomes maybe same number of years in
the NFL or at the same age suffering you know,
a knee injury. Well, the difference is Tom Brady doesn't
use his knees other than to stand in the pocket.

(30:01):
Maholmes is constantly on the move. That's the biggest difference here.
But you got to the offensive line. I mean, even yesterday,
you're taking a lot of hits and yes, he does
run the ball far more than Brady did. So when
you go, oh, they both had same knee injury at

(30:24):
similar times in their career. Well, one doesn't use his
legs and one really relies on his legs. That's a
big difference here Greg and Michigan. Hi, Greg, what's on
your mind?

Speaker 7 (30:36):
Brilliant? Damn a man, mister positive boom shaka laka. I
gotta tell you Josh Elvis Allen is the MVP. Yes,
maybe Stafford, but Josh Elvis is the most important person
on the team.

Speaker 9 (30:55):
No.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
If answer Butts, it would be how you would define
an MVP that going forward, it has to be Josh Elvis.
I got to tell you, Dan, and real quick. My
brother Chris wants to know. He knows that you played basketball.
You were great. What is the best decade ever in

(31:16):
the NBA.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
Out a football? Uh, the sixties.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
There's too much football today for me to dissect the
decades here. But you know, with Josh Allen, he's in
that category that Giannie is in and some of these
basketball players that we take him for granted, Josh Allen
is already a Hall of Famer. I mean, these numbers
are crazy. He's going to end up with one hundred touchdowns,

(31:53):
probably rushing. He's getting to three hundred touchdowns faster than anybody.
And this year, more than any other year, it feels
like it's Josh Allen, like he's gotten into that hey
games on the line, Well they got him. We did
this with Brady, We've done this with Mahomes. Josh Allen
is in that small, small category there.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, Marv.

Speaker 15 (32:16):
Now that the Chiefs are eliminated, do you think locally
and Buffalo they're like, all right, this is the year.
Because you don't have Patrick Mahomes to go through anymore.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
You should feel that way, but you still have to
beat these other teams. They lost at home to New England.
Now they won this game. But I don't think Buffalo
is a great team. I think they have the capability
of playing great. I just don't think that defense is great.
You know, Bosa played well. I mean they have guys
who can make plays. I just don't think they're a

(32:45):
great team.

Speaker 15 (32:47):
Yes, yes, Marv, but the Bills, they cannot lose to
Jacksonville or Denver. It's going to be a real problem locally.
I think Sean mcdermy, he might.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Know, you can't lose to Jacksonville. You I would big
Denver over Buffalo. Denver is man. That defense is awesome
and if bo Nicks plays well, you're not beating them.
And if they have home field advantage, I just don't
think you'll beat them there.

Speaker 11 (33:14):
Yeah, paulin Denver hit Jordan Love fifteen times yesterday. That's
the most in the league. They tied the Broncos a
month ago when they hit a quarterback fifteen times.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Yeah, they're putting their hands on you. I mean, that's impressive.
But Josh Allen has graduated to the take him for
granted category. But what he did against New England and
that's where you could easily panic and try to get
too much and try to do too much, and he
did a great job.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
All Right, we'll take a break. Play of the Day
up next.

Oh my god, Play of the day.

Speaker 17 (34:02):
Oh my god, it play.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
This is the play of the day.

Speaker 11 (34:08):
Check this out first out of out of the twenty two.

Speaker 9 (34:11):
They call it snap play, fake roll.

Speaker 13 (34:12):
He was right, Caleb running out of time, gotta gut
it into the end zone.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Back of the end zone, hooks up beat J Moore,
touchdown Bears.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
You thought that play was a throwaway and Caleb Williams
launched it to DJ Moore of the end zone.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Twenty to three Bears.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Courtesy of the Bears Radio Network. Chicago's ten and four
first season with double digit wins since winning the NFC
North in twenty eighteen, when they went twelve and four.
Caleb Williams went seventeen to twenty eight two forty two
and two touchdowns and ended a streak of six consecutive
games with a completion percentage below sixty percent. It's your

(34:54):
play of the day, brought to you by Mako. Your
car could probably use a little TLC. At Mako, they
bring a car back to life. Affordable paint chomps like

get Mako. Fritzy just forwarded me a tweet from James
Benson in capital letters. Do not let Dan weasel his
way out of a pie to the face. He wouldn't

(35:17):
let you do that. Do not let him wear your sweater.
He should get two pies now for even making the suggestion,
I'm disappointed in Dan.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Very passionate. Yes he is an early Monday morning.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
That's why you sent it to me, of course.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yes, I just thought wearing your Broncos sweater for three
hours was a lot of punishment, more than just a
pie to the face at the end of the Showja, Okay,
you want to see you a pie of the face
and we do a pie to the face on Friday.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
All right, sounds good to me.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Sounds good. So we've settled this.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
I think we have.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Okay, all right, A couple more phone calls in here,
Robert and san Antonio. Hi, Robert, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (35:59):
A morning taking time, A long time, seventy three this morning.
I don't have any worse, to be honest with you.
To bests, my Spurs taking care of out KC in Vegas,
down sixteen, coming back with the Unicorn, I mean, I
think it's safe to say. And my second best is

(36:19):
my Viking taking care of business.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
All right. Hey, I mean, you know, it's weird.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
When I'm watching the game, all I could think of
was justin Jefferson, that was it. I think he had
two catches for like eleven yards, and then I wonder,
now he's widely considered the best wide receiver or one
of the two or three best wide receivers. But when
you don't get your touches, now, that's when things get
interesting dangerous. Now, they did win the game, and McCarthy

(36:49):
played pretty well, but you have certain players where you go,
how many how many touches did they get? Just feels
like it could make things a little more uncomfortable, Yes, Martin, who.

Speaker 15 (37:02):
Should be more frustrated, Miles Garrett or Justin Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Oh well, okay, Miles Garrett knew what he was getting into.
He stayed, he got paid, He could have forced his
way out of Cleveland, he stayed. Justin Jefferson's like, all right,
Sam Darnold, all right, I'm getting some catches here, I'm
doing Kirk Cousins, I'm all right, I'm the focal point.

(37:27):
And then all of a sudden you're not the focal point.
And then you got JJ McCarthy in there. So I
would say JJ McCarthy, yeah, Pauling.

Speaker 11 (37:35):
Three years ago, Justin Jefferson one hundred and twenty eight catches,
eighteen hundred yards, and they moved on from Cousins, they
moved on from Darnald, and now this year's on pace
for fewer than eighty catches yep, which for him is low.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Oh yeah, y low. Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
By the way, if you look at the last four
Heisman Trophy winners, all spent some time in the conference
form known as the PAC twelve. So Caleb Williams in
twenty twenty two, he was at USC, Jaden Daniels was
at Arizona State for a couple of years in twenty
twenty three, Travis Hunter wanted in twenty twenty four Colorado,

(38:14):
and now Fernando Mendoza this year's winner. He's spent one
year at CAL in twenty twenty three. Stat of the day,
sat of the day, that past stat of the day,
stat of the.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
Day here comes that?

Speaker 3 (38:30):
What stat of the day.

Speaker 9 (38:34):
Set?

Speaker 3 (38:34):
Would you update the poll results from the first hour
of the program?

Speaker 6 (38:38):
Yeah, we put two of them up there. Uh, who
makes it to the playoffs? Steelers are Ravens right now,
Ravens have fifty five percent of that vote.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
That's that's all that's left in the AFC as far
as playoff picture. Those two teams. Who decides who's going
to win the AFC.

Speaker 6 (38:53):
North, not officially but basically, Okay, basically that's his left.
And then which team is more surprising to currently be
out of the playoffs, Ravens or the Lions. Lions have
seventy three percent of that boot.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, my super Bowl picks the Chiefs and the Lions.
With the Lions winning the Super Bowl. Well, the Lions,
I guess, could still win the Super Bowl, but the
Chiefs will not be in the playoff picture. And once again,
I think Mahomes having an MRI. I don't know if
it's today. You have to let the swelling go down.
I know this firsthand, but you know, you're trying to

(39:25):
figure out what grade is this, and if it's a
grade three, now you're talking six to twelve months, and
it's a weird window there of how long you need
to rehab. You know, there's certain couple of months with this,
a couple of months with that, and then you get
to a point where you can all all of a sudden,
be a little bit more active. But also you have

(39:46):
to factor in he uses his legs more than Tom
Brady certainly did. And when that's when people make these comparisons,
is he capable of a second act like Tom Brady.
And by the way, we make it seem like, oh man,
the Patriots went ten years without winning a Super Bowl.
They played in two Super bowl They weren't bums, they
just didn't win super Bowls. If you look at they

(40:10):
got into the playoffs, we're like, yeah, they didn't win.
They did lose two incredibly close Super Bowls.

Speaker 9 (40:17):
There.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Now, can Patrick Mahomes do that?

Speaker 15 (40:21):
Yes, Marvin tom Brady in those nine or ten years
had an envy, he had a Hall of Fame career.
They went like two or three MVPs in that span
of time.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Has he had three Hall of Fame careers?

Speaker 6 (40:33):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Yeah, So now that's going to be the test for
Mahomes and Andy Reid.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Yeah, PAULI, it's absolutely right.

Speaker 11 (40:41):
The best years passing with the you know, the Randy
Moss years, and otherwise tom Brady has two more. You
The one thing about that is, uh, the injury led
to Matt Castle and then he comes back to the
next year and they totally revamped their offensive roster.

Speaker 7 (40:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
I think you know the difference is Belichick was there.
Does Andy Reid want to be there? That I think
is the key all right, one hour of the books,
two more to go on this Monday, Best and Worst
of the weekend. Once you saw that you liked you
