to sixty percent off and free shipping. I mentioned beef
Wellington USA style. That would be the cue for one
of the dan Ets to then google what is us
say style Beef Wellington?

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Yes to start Beef Wellington classic English dish, a beef
tendloin wrapped in layers of savory ingredients like it could
be like a ham and mushrooms and mustard coating. Then
wrapped in a pastry crust and baked to perfection.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Now is that the English?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
That is English style?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
But I want USA style?

Speaker 5 (01:22):
Yes, we just wanted to lay the bass code here.
We're getting the English as we speak.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Eight seven to seven three DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick
dot com, Twitter handle a TP show.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
If you're watching on Peacock, our streaming partner, download the
app if you haven't done so, we'd say good morning
to our radio affiliates, numbering over four hundred around the country.
Back to what happened yesterday with the bucks they waved
Dame Lillard. They still have to pay him close to
one hundred million dollars to go away, and then you'll
be free to sign with anybody after he heals from

(01:53):
his Achilles surgery. Miles Turner goes from Indiana to Milwaukee.
I think it's a great addition for them. Brook Lopez
went to the Clippers, so they get younger and more athletic.
I would say with Miles Turner than brook Lopez. But
Dame Lillard has had an interesting career because he was
one of those guys where you watched him and you went, wow,

(02:16):
he's really good, but he doesn't play for a good team.
Nine time All Star, he was going to finally get
a chance, he was going to get a chance to
play in some big games. He was going to be
in the playoffs with Jannis and maybe he'd win a title,
and then all of a sudden they get an early
exit from the playoffs. He was inconsistent, you had injuries.
Now you have the Achilles tear, and his career in

(02:38):
Milwaukee is over. He doesn't sound too heartbroken because he said,
I won the lottery. Basically, I'm going to get paid
one hundred million dollars. I'm going to get two million
dollars a month to not do anything, and then I
can sign anywhere I want. Now, granted, I think he's
thirty six coming off the Achilles. You'll be thirty six

(02:58):
by the time he comes back to the NBA, and
he's gonna be able to pick wherever he wants to go. Now, granted,
he's not the guy who's going to get you twenty
eight a game anymore, but he can still give you
that twenty a game. Spot up shooter certainly can go
on a run. But I think that he did well
by the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bucks paying one hundred million

(03:20):
dollars for him to go away. They get Miles Turner.
But then I started to think about the Pacers. Now,
if the Pacers had won the titles, I said, yesterday, Okay.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
We can deal with that.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Halliburton's out for at least half the season, and we're
gonna lose Miles Turner, but we won a title.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Well, you didn't win a title.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Halliburton's out and Miles Turner leaves and goes to a
rival in the East. It almost feels like this is
a gap year, like we're just gonna we're gonna survive.
Feels like they are teams surviving in the NBA, the Celtics,
It's one year. Then we'll get Tatum back. I don't
know what they're going to be like this year. Feels

(04:00):
like Jalen Brown should be a dark horse MVP candidate
because Jalen Brown's probably gonna get a lot of shots.
He's probably gonna try to average thirty a game for
that team. They still have Derek White. Porzingis to me,
is not a big loss. You couldn't really count on him,
But having Tatum out for half the year, they have

(04:20):
a gap year. It feels like Cleveland they got Lonzo
Ball because Darius Garland coming off toe surgery. But Cleveland
is still the class of the East. Milwaukee will be better,
Orlando is going to be better, Atlanta is going to
be better, Detroit should be better, and you might have
teams like Orlando and Detroit. Looking what happened with Indiana, sink,

(04:42):
maybe we could make a run like this. Seventy six
ers are still a mess. Don't know if I'm leaving
out anybody else in the East.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
But.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You got a couple of teams that are kind of
taken this year off, or maybe the expectation level is
going to be lowered. The Knicks are going to be
there as well, although they still waiting to get a coach.
Mike Brown appears to be the front runner since he's
getting a second interview. You know, I take back what
I said when they fired Tibbs that they must have

(05:14):
known who they were getting, unless they truly thought they
were getting Jason Kidd. This hasn't gone well, hasn't gone
as scripted, and they reached out to Don Staley, South
Carolina head coach. I'm sure she was flattered by that,
but if I'm Don Staley. I don't take the Knicks job.
You got a great situation there with South Carolina. Now,

(05:36):
could it be one of those landmark decisions where you
want to coach the Knicks coach in the NBA. Yeah,
I thought Becky Hammond's was going to get the San
Antonio Spurs job a couple of years ago. I thought
Pop would step to the side and allow that to happen.
But I don't know if Don Staley, you know, Don
Staley runs, she runs the ship there in South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
You lose control.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
A lot of these coaches can't coach in the NBA
because they're control freaks. In college, you get to control,
or at least you used to be able to control everything.
Now you go to the NBA and you're like, you know,
there are teams that guys don't even show up for practice,
and they're guys who probably don't get to play that much.
But there are guys that don't show up for practice,

(06:24):
which may sound crazy, but the coach may not have
a problem with it because they're not going to play,
and so what like, you just can't have that. Shay
Gilgis is going to make a million dollars a game
that's in at some point during this new contract a
million a game because he plays around seventy games, So

(06:45):
he's going to make seventy one million dollars in a
couple of years. You're going to get to the point
where somebody's making one hundred million dollars in a season
in the NBA not too far away. And if I'm
Don Staley, as much as i'd love to be that first,
I don't know if I want to deal with the NBA.
You know, you had Jay right at Villanova. He wasn't

(07:06):
interested in the Knicks. Coach k flirted with the Lakers
years ago. You know Danny Hurley. Danny Hurley is not
suited for the NBA. IQ wise, he is, but temperament
dealing with these guys go ballistic. If they lose five games,
you could lose five games in two weeks. Can't deal

(07:26):
with that. But Mike Brown appears to be the front
runner with the Knicks, and I don't think they really
had a game plan. They the game plan was we're
firing TIBs, and from what I was told, that decision
was made before the playoffs started. It was hey, because
they didn't think they were going to go far and
then all of a sudden, Hey we beat Boston, Hey,

(07:49):
Cleveland's out, Hey we can beat Indiana until you couldn't,
and then all of a sudden, it's like, uh, it's
almost like good thing we lost to the Pacers or
we could have had TIBs there in the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Then what do you do? Yes, Marvin, but.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
With Don Staley, this is a good Knicks team. This
isn't like David Fizdale going to the Knicks where they're
just trying to You know.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
You had a coach who went to the Eastern Conference
finals who got fired.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
I know. But the thing about Don Staley, if she
goes there and she has success, she'll be all right.
But even if she doesn't, she has her pick of
the litter in college basketball, and she can always go back.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, but she has her pick, she has the place
where she wants to be.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
But then if she gets fired from the Knicks, she
can go to Yukon after Gino retires. Maybe that's self serving, Storry.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah, I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, it's the Knicks, and I wouldn't want to deal
with that kind of ownership where uh, TIBs Okay, what
was the complaint about TIBs? Oh, he works them too hard.
Have you seen Don Staley coach?

Speaker 7 (08:58):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
It's like Pat Summit. She could have coached the men's team, absolutely,
But you can't sit here and say, well, you know,
don't work us too hard. We want to be fresh
for the playoffs. I don't know if Don Staley knows
how to coach any different than she does at South Carolina.
In fact, you probably coach less when you go to
the NBA.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Yeah, Pull, I agree totally with what you're saying that
Don Staley is in a great position. However, the significance
and impact historically of being the first ever women's head
basketball coach in the NBA would be something I think
culturally or historically, whatever word you want to use, she
couldn't pass up. She'd be remembered for generations, and it'd

(09:42):
be almost like she would almost have to have internal
and external pressure to take it.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yeah, but I don't know what her goals are.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
It feels like what she's doing now in South Carolina,
she's trying to win national championships there, developing these women there.
It's a great program. She's been successful everywhere she's gone.
She's a Hall of Famer. But I can't imagine. I mean,
it's nice that the Knicks did reach out. I would

(10:09):
interview as many people as possible. If I'm an owner
and I have an opening, I would bring in as
many people as possible because I want you to tell
me about my team.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Doesn't cost anything, it's free. Come in.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I want to interview you. Tell me what you see,
tell me what you think, tell me what you would do.
And I don't know why more teams don't do this, Yes, Mark, but.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
I think the beauty about the Knicks right now, this
isn't your dad's Knicks, where James Dolan was just ruling
everything with an iron fist. They have Leon Rose. They
have a really good front office right now. And you've
seen that with the success that the Knicks have.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Happened. What happened? What happened?

Speaker 2 (10:46):
It went to James Dolan, and James Dolan made the
decision to fire Tom Thibodeau. Leon Rose was Thibodeau's agent.
He didn't care, although he did get his coach a
contract extension last year, so he got him paid.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
He did his job. Everybody got paid.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
But all of a sudden ownership comes in and then
they Hey, just to remind you, I'm the owner.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
We're gonna get rid of this guy.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
But if you think Don Staley would come in and
coach the Nicks and not worth these guys hard. Now,
maybe she plays the bench a little more, but well,
she couldn't play them any less, I don't think. I mean,
it's nice that they did reach out, and I don't
know if she took an interview, but hey, she's a

(11:36):
great coach. Pat Summit could have coached in, you know,
the men's team. Becky Hammond, she was an assistant with
the Spurs for a long time. All right, uh, seton,
let's pull question today.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Be happy to tell you that Dan.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
After the break, Wow, okay, after the break, you could tease, I.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Know what beef American beef Wellington is?

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Okay? USA style?

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yeah, which would you rather teased? Beef Wellington USA style
or the poll question?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
I want USA style beef Wellington.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
My quick research has revealed that it appears to involve
like cheddar cheese or American cheese, but the kind that
like you get at the store that's in a square,
you know, like slices.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Chunk, like slices of cheese. That and bacon.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Oh, those are the two ingredients that I've seen in
most of my research is cheese and bacon.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Beef welling, my beef Wellington, Yes, Paul, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
We have a bit more on this story.

Speaker 8 (12:39):
Dan.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
According to Dylan, the graphics guy who's handling the beef Wellington,
there is no beef Wellington American style recipe. He made
it up air quotes. But let's just say USA will
be on the puff pastry.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
It'll say Usa, Oh, corta be some ketchup in there too.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
If you're watching on Peacock, that's Dylan out there cooking. Well,
he's eating right now. It's what he's doing. I think
he just burned his tongue. Yeah, it looks like that
might have been hotter then he thought it was going
to be.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
And he's supposed to have gloves on. He's supposed to
have like gloves here.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
He did, but remember the other like a week or
two ago, he had gloves on, but he kept rubbing
his sweaty forehead with the palm of his gloved hands.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
He's a wetsuit that didn't exactly work out.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yeah, I didn't realize that he was doing that. He's
wiping his brow with the glove that then he's handling
the food.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yes, Marvin, the hairt would be nice.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Also, Yes, yesterday I came in late in the afternoon
and he was cooking up something and he's leaning over
the pot.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
That he had and I go, oh, boy, I don't
know if sweat was terrip pick.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, when your hat's on backwards to keep your hair
out of your.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Face, it's not good. It's not good. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
If you're just tuning in on Peacock, it looks like
we hired Pablo Escobar to chef.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
A young yeah, or somebody related to franco'harris and Gabe Kaplan.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Yeah, little combination there, combo plattered between the two if
they had a child, that's what it would look like.
And kind of let themself go as well. We'll keep
an eye on the story, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Yeah, he dresses like Danny DeVito and Matilda Like it's
just mismatch, real weird.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
That's a deep dive. I'm not familiar with Matilda and
Danny DeVito.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
Top five movie all time?

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Go ahead, yeah, oh really top fuck? All right, we're
just getting started. Here phone calls always welcome. Operator Tyler

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Time for the hour. One pole question Seaton. That's one
from Paul. I'm gonna condense it a little bit. If
you were Damian Lillard, would you rehab your achilles and
enjoin a team as soon as possible or retire. You're
paying me one hundred million dollars to rehab in addition

(16:08):
to I would imagine a considerable amount of money already made.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Yeah, I'm not going to retire, be thirty six, probably
when I'm ready to come back to the NBA.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
I can. I can play anywhere and it.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
You know, money shouldn't be the issue because I'm already
getting paid. Maybe I sneak in and play for a
championship caliber team or at least get to an NBA finals. Yeah,
I'm not retiring, Yes, Paul.

Speaker 5 (16:40):
Just his financials. He has two hundred and eighty one
million already paid in his career and another guaranteed one
hundred million over the next five years.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
On the way.

Speaker 7 (16:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Any attractiveness to saying that's.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It, No, And I mean you still have to go
through the rehab process. I mean you have to fix
You're gonna have sir, and then he's had surgery. Now
you have the rehub anyway, so why not do it
with the carrot that you dangle that says, hey, you
want to play for the Lakers. Hey you want to
play for Oklahoma City, you want to play for Houston.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
You can play anywhere?

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Yeah, Seaton Sure, thirty six six' two guard coming off
of an achilles.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Injury, yeah can you play? Anywhere?

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Well, no he has the opportunity to go, anywhere whether you, aurerotically.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
He has the opportunity to play anywhere in the world he. Wants,
however is.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
That WOULD i be interested In Dame lillard if you
Said i'd get him for let's say ten million dollars
one year, deal, YES i would.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Be is he interested in that one year deal for ten?

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Million, well then he might not be able to go
where he wants to. Go but if you, said, Look
Golden state, says, hey we got a roster, spot we
got this much.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Money are you interested in playing With? Steph see what he.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Says what's the worst thing that can? Happen he says,
no or you say no to, him and then he
goes to another. Team but one hundred million dollars to,
rehab and then you get to play or you least
to get you least can call anybody you want and, say,
hey if you need, Me i'm. Here SO i couldn't see,

(18:30):
retiring not at thirty, five thirty? Six what other pole questions?

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Do, YEAH i guess it seems, unlikely but it's not
the most obvious once you start stacking those things. Up about,
AGE i don't, know even for some reason size to
me at six' to two being a little older coming
off of an injury, like that sometimes it takes a
year to get.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
That BACK if i had his skill set AND all
i had to do was rehab and come back and
be in, great shape while you're giving me one hundred, Million,
dollars yeah, heck yeah you mean you didn't have to
give me a hundred million dollars if You said i'm
coming BACK and i want to PROVE that i can,
still play and you could go wherever you want, to

(19:10):
go or at least get. That opportunity that's why he
said he won the lottery because he gets to go
where he wants. To eat he won the lottery with
one hundred.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Million dollars there might be something too to like having
the game taken away. From, you yeah through an injury
that makes you want to play a couple. More, years
yeah you know what other? Pole questions do you want
for One? From marvin or would you like Several? From
todd let's Go. To, Marvin okay marvin has who's the
team you can't believe didn't win. A championship this is

(19:42):
off of the Conversation With kevin Durant And.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Lebron james, Oh okay well we should probably play that
clip to put it. IN context kd Was on lebron's
podcast and talked about when he WAS at okac that
they got maybe two good two with.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
THAT roster.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
I think we exceeded expectations with. That team and when
you reach the finals and you go through a run
like that, SO quick i don't THINK a gm or
owner was ready.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
For that so she sped up. A timeline starts up
the timeline all. Of us, you know individual. Players surge you.

Speaker 9 (20:20):
Didn't know it's like he came out. Of nowhere he
came around being the best shot blocker in. The league
i'm amaging thirty at twenty one. Years old russell was
twenty two, years old Is An All star james six man.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
At twenty so we exceeded.

Speaker 9 (20:31):
The timeline so they wasn't ready, for THAT and i
Don't believe that's just. MY theory i don't know exactly
what saying was thinking or, the owner but my THEORY
is i don't think they were ready exactly for us
to be contenders.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Every year.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
The other voice you heard There Were. Steve neck why
couldn't they win? A, title okay they sped up. The
process they're better than what. You think i'm WHAT am i?
Missing here they couldn't win Because what harden wanted his?
Own TEAM so i is that On Ownership james harden

(21:09):
Wasn't staying Katie.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
And westbrook we never were quite sure were they on the?
Same page?

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Ball dominant And then durant wanted his Touches And james harden.
Wanted out so WHAT am i? Missing here that ownership
that they were too good? Too soon you can still win,
a championship. There's nobody there's no age. Restriction here wait,
a minute you're too, Young Here so i'm not Quite
sure i'm picking Up with kat's.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Putting, Down, YEAH palling.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
I have that roster from the twoenty eleven twelve season
For the thunder and. Their ages it. Is Surreal kevin
durant averaged twenty eight that year at age. Twenty three
westbrook averaged twenty four at age. Twenty Three, james harden
who went to college for a, little bit twenty two,
years old averaging seventeen points. A game They Had, Serge,
ibaka perkins.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Et, cetera okay how old is okay? Sees? Roster now
aren't they the youngest team IN?

Speaker 2 (22:08):
The? Nba like What is? Durant saying there's no age
requirement to win? A Championship so i'm not? Quite sure
like why did he Go To? Golden state what did
that have to do? With ownership i'm not. Quite sure

(22:29):
i'm following what he's trying to tell.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Me, here yes is it just because everybody got, too big,
too good, too fast and you can't pay those people
so it's impossible to keep.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
It Together but harden didn't want, to STAY so i
don't know if that had anything to do.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
With paying he wanted his.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Own team he was tired of being a, THIRD option,
i THINK or, i mean that's what happened when he Went.
To houston he got his shots and ended up the
league in scoring a couple, Of TIMES but i don't
know if that's. About MONEY maybe.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
I got the sense it was just about sort of
preparing for a really good team and then the things
that come, with it and maybe they just got too good,
too fast and nobody was prepared, for it. Including ownership so, it's,
like Dang What serge ibaka is best shop locker in,
the League and katie is you know what do? YOU
say i averaging thirty and he's, twenty one and like it's

(23:26):
almost like being good presented problems that nobody was.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Prepared, for, hmm, well okay see one of the titles
the youngest team IN.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
THE nba i guess. It's possible what other, Pole, questions.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Well, let's see here's the One from marvin that we're just.
Talking about what's the team you can't believe didn't win
a Championship of Durant's thunder give The Nineties, cleveland Indians
five Slam a jama other? Neither, neither, OKAY Well fi

(24:01):
slamajama should have won with that much talent in a
shot clock era they end.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
UP WINNING.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I i don't KNOW if i look At the Guardians
slash indians, and SAY but i mean they. WERE closed
i don't KNOW if i looked at them as a.
GREAT team i think they just they, were there they
had their moments and lost in.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Heartbreaking, Fashion, yes marmon BUT if.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
I tell you this Team Has, Kenny Lofton, Albert Bell,
Jim Tomay, Sandy Alomar, roberto alomar and you don't Win A.
World series they lost It. A, MARLINS yeah, i know
that's one. OF those i think it also it's because
of who they, lost to where you're, just.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
Like, MAN yeah i guess that.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
Could fact we had our moment and they lost To
the braves. And that so they got Through The world
series a couple.

Speaker 10 (24:50):
Of.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Times yeah and talented team, Yeah, YEAH paul.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
I would throw out kind of a one that just
popped in. My head that two thousand And One seattle
mariners team in one hundred in sixteen games in the.
Regular season i'm just looking at.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
The roster they're. Completely stacked they don't have great, starting.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Pitchers nop would They Have wilson alvarez or who is
There they i'm trying to think they Had One. Freddie,
garcia yeah They Had, Moyer Garcia, aaron seely they didn't
have a twenty.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
GAME winner i don't Know They.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
Jamie MOYER was i got him in twenty and.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Six M Throwing, salad dang a lot of. Run, support
yeah one hundred and.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Sixteen, wins ouch that's a good. OFFENSIVE team i just
didn't think they had. A hammer when you get to,
the postseason you gotta have, that guy that one guy
that he'll stop. A law after, a loss he goes
out and he makes sure. He wins they didn't have.
That guy maybe Maybe If freddie garcia mixing Up With
wilson alvarez for.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Some, Reason.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Yeah freddie garcia was a. Good pitcher but, You Know
jamie morier's not. SCARING you, i mean, twenty wins, That's
great but you didn't you didn't Have That, randy johnson
you Didn't Have. Kurt shilling you didn't have, you know
those guys that go out and they they they win,
a game they shut, you DOWN and, i, think boy

(26:16):
but that was a.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Great team.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Great team Let's see Andy And rhode island leads. This Off,

moment just To recognize dance for being, a pioneer not
just the sports radio but, the champions others Into The
rifle Hall. Of fame from athletes. And broadcasters dance footprints
have been out so, many CAREERS and i think now
time we defense and the listeners do what we can

(26:47):
To Get dan Patrick and dust Into the Hall. Of
fame you've elevated So many Dan.

Speaker 3 (26:52):

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I'm i'm In The radio Hall.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
Of fame oh, my goodness how are you? Hitting Me?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
DAN well i tended to downplay a lot of, these honors,
you know very, very humble but. MISSION accomplished i got
Into The radio Hall. Of fame was that three. Years
ago Went, to chicago was, very nice. Very honored let,
me see but thank you for. The. Compliments andy Let's

(27:24):
see Jake. And, Cincinnati, hi jake what's on?

Speaker 11 (27:27):
Your Mind, Hey dan i'm just calling in and drop
a little Nugget About bobby benita. DAY yesterday i don't
think many People Know barney madoff is a part of.
The story so When the mets asked to defer the
PAYMENTS from uk representatives said they take. The deferment there
was an eight percent interest tacked on the year. Over,
year well Fred will palm was investing With berniey madoff at,

(27:50):
the time who was supposedly making his clients ten percent year.
Every year so on his mind, He's, Thinking okay i'm
making Ten percent vania. EIGHT percent i get that. Two,
percent well obviously that ten percent was, never real so
he had to pay that, eight percent paid what thirty
million instead Of, five god double, screw.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
It, Thank. You, Jake yeah bernie.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Made off there were so many people and not, so
many but probably five to, seven people maybe ten PEOPLE
that i Knew In New, York city, and man did
they want to tell you how much money they were
Making with bernie? Made OFF and i didn't make enough
money to be able to Invest with bernie, made. Off thankfully.

(28:36):
You know it's one of those WHERE thankfully i didn't
make a lot. Of MONEY but i just remember they were, telling,
me oh man. KILLING it, i, go man those are.
Incredible profits and then you realized that it Was a ponzi.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Scheme and it.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Wasn't real and some of the two of the PEOPLE
that i knew it didn't. End well one committed suicide
and the other one kind of drank himself.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
To death but, you know.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
They had, lost EVERYTHING and i know that there's some
people who got. Money back The Actor, KEVIN bacon i
think he had.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
A lot of Money With.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
BERNIE madoff i don't know if he got that, money back,
but yeah that that was one of those where, you're thinking,
you know if it's too good to, be true it
is too good to.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Be true you can't be that foot loose with.

Speaker 6 (29:30):
Your money you got to be really going to tighten
things up with it a.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
Little too simple with how? About sensitivity, then okay you're
better than that. MINIMAL kindness I, don't yeah. That's true.
That's true by, the Way the pistons Have Added.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Duncan robinson now, you, say okay well they added Him
Because malik beasley has some. Financial problems he's got some,
legal issues he's got a.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Federal investigation so they.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
Quickly pivoted they were going To, pay detroit was going
To Pay malik beasley, three years forty two, million dollars
and all of, a sudden, they go we need somebody
who can, shoot threes who doesn't have a, gambling problem
allegedly have a. Gambling Problem, duncan robinson, come on we'll
take You And malik beasley's got some REAL financial, i

(30:29):
mean now you realize if you get into A Position
detroit news lays, this out got into, you know, financial,
disaster loans, bad investments and then all of, a sudden
did he turn, to gambling fixing, a game? Prop bets that's,

(30:51):
what appear. Appears happen there's a whole lot of. Smoke
here and if there is any semblance of, fire boy
this is where. This is this is where you really damage.
A league this is what everybody. Talks about now we're monitoring,
and gambling and, you know we know what's. Going on all,
these commissioners all. Of them this is their, worst day

(31:14):
this is their worst. Night there if there's something that
damages the credibility where, you go that's. NOT real i can,
WATCH wrestling i know it's, not Real but i'm not betting.
On That if i'm watching the, basketball, game, football baseball whatever,
sporting event and if you think it's, not real that

(31:35):
that's where it starts to crack at the, Foundation Here.
Malik beasley was he? Fixing games was he fixing his?
Prop bets was he trying to? Do that did he
did he relay? Information here that's another. Key ingredient he
might have done that. As well he might. Not bet
he might have somebody who's, bet him betting for him or.

(31:58):
Giving information we're headed towards this that this will continue
because somebody doesn't think they'll, get caught or it's so
easy to place, a bet and, you know if you
don't do something with DraftKings or fan duel OR, bet
mgm you're going to. Do offshore that's the way they
used to do it the, old days where you could place,

(32:20):
a bet no. Paper Trail but beasley getting into, financial trouble,
YOU know i think this is what Happened With. Pete
rose pete was a bad gambler and then he fell
back on what, he knew and that. Was baseball, and
yes when he finally came clean on my show years
ago AND said i bet on us, to win that doesn't.

(32:42):
Make it he's not exonerated because he bet on his team,
to win because you can manipulate your lineup. As well but,
You know pete had to fall back on what he knew,
and control and, that's baseball and that's why he was betting.
So much but this situation FOR, the nba this, is,

(33:04):
terrible terrible this is where you hope what you're seeing.
Is okay That's Remember tim donaghy was a. Rogue Referee david,
stern said. Rogue referee every time he brought up that,
that situation. Rogue REFEREE do i think others were involved?
IN that. I do whether, it surfaces maybe. It doesn't

(33:29):
but Rogue Referee. Malik beasley You Know, Dante, porter hey
just a scrub at the end of. The bench nobody's
gonna Notice if i'm fixing. A game my prop bets.
They notice now took a While From, malik Beasley but
beasley reportedly was asking other players, about hey you THINK

(33:53):
you i think he did This With. ANTHONY edwards i
think he did this where, he, said hey you think
you can get you can beat me and get seven.
Threes Tonight malik beasley probably won't play IN the nba.
Ever AGAIN the nba does not want. Him back but

(34:14):
if You This detroit, news article mini otis barber of thousands. Of,
DOLLARS now i don't know if he's using his barber
and he's a bookie or there's GAMBLING or i have.
NO idea i don't know how much. Haircuts cost but he.

(34:34):
Knows him thousands of dollars he took out loans and
then all of, a sudden you want to try to, Recoup, This.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Yeah paulie and if you go Back To, tim donaghee
that was. The referee that was two thousand. And seven that,
story broke but that finally gave a face to the
people who question legitimacy. In sports and to, this DAY
when i talk, TO people i have friends and, they're Like,
remember doneghie it's possible that it's like the buzzword name
that there was a face to it in two thousand,
and seven and he's still relevant when people mention.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
It today and it's.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
A referee we're always, Talking, about oh they're fixing. A
game we don't talk about players. Fixing games we talk.
About officials oh they don't, like us they got it out.
For us that was one of those where, you're, like boy,
if this if, this metastasizes this. Is death But With,
malik beasley there's a whole, lot here a whole. Lot here,

(35:26):
all right we'll take. A break phone calls coming, up
eight seven, to SEVEN three. Dp show when, we return

HYPOCRITICAL because i enjoyed your professional reporting and your stick
AS an. Espn, Anchor however i'm a little irritated by

(39:03):
the lack of comedy and some inappropriate comments by the
current anchors and one of your thoughts. On that and,
Then lastly i'm a former college basketball coach with my
last stop being it as an Assistant With barry Collier
at butler in the, mid nineties and you've talked a
Little About hinklefield house in, Your time but As a,
