super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
We rally gave me a C minus slash D plus. Great.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, hey, hurt a little bit. Hey, we have a
clean slate today and we'll see what the grade is.

Dylan is preparing Thanksgiving dinner today for tomorrow. We're going

in weeks, our cameraman are trying to prep a dry

(00:52):
run of Thanksgiving rub dry, rub dry run on this

He hasn't even been cleared to play yet. All right,
eight seven to seven to three DP show as always,
Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls and have
our play of the day, poll questions, stat of the
day as well. We got football tonight, or at least
a reasonable fact simile. It's the Jets at the Patriots.
The Jets are getting twelve and a half over under

(02:43):
forty three and a half. There will be an overreaction
to this game tomorrow, guarantee. If the Patriots win, Drake
May looks good. All all of a sudden, the Patriots
are the team to beat in the AFC. Drake May
will probably be a maybe the leading candidate for MVP.
He's up there in the conversation right now. If the

(03:06):
Jets somehow make this interesting, maybe even win this game,
then all of a sudden, everything that we've said about
Mike Rabel, the culture, the quarterback that all goes to
the wayside, but guaranteed standalone game, and you're going to
react one way or another with this, probably that. Wow,
the Patriots look really good. Wow, Drake May is great? Wow.

(03:29):
Could the Patriots be the team to beat in the
AFC Mike Rabel Coach of the Year. Just some of
the storylines that will probably emerge from this game. If
it holds true to form that they're favored by twelve
and a half, yes, Todd.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
The Patriots are in no win situation though tonight.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
If they win they beat the Jets, anything other than
beating them, or if they have a tough game against
the Jets, It's like, what is going on here?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
How did you only win by a couple? How did
you lose to the Jets? Seems like a tough spot
for them in Foxport.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
To me, I would like to be in that spot,
the best spot. Yes, yeah, you can win tonight by
winning tonight.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
You could win by making your win loss record one better.
But other than that, they have they should win that
game by double digits.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Well, they're favored by double digits if they only if
they only win by seven. Let's say they win by five.
Are you going to come in tomorrow and go and
Patriots are overrated? What if the Jets actually play well? Okay,
they might you know, maybe justin fields lights it up.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Maybe not those division games.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Oh, I know, divisionals say it all the time.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
They get a little tricky. They know each other very well, these.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Teams, I know. But the Jets have won their last
two games weirdly, yes, but they have won those games.
But if the Patriots win by five, yes, they'll be
naysayers that like, oh, we've overrated the Patriots. I think
the Patriots are very good team. Now, I don't know
if they're the team to beat. Vegas still tells me

(04:53):
it's the Kansas City Chiefs, who if the playoffs started today,
wouldn't be in the playoffs. And they've got the MB
candidate and Patrick Mahomes. But from what I've seen so far,
they seem to know what they do well and to
be able to do that stop the run, make you know,
the opposition one dimensional. I mean, some Mike Rabel team,

(05:16):
except for he has a really good quarterback. Rabel hasn't
had great quarterbacks. I think down through the years when
he was with Tennessee. Who was the best quarterback that
he had.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Ryan Tannehill.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I'm guessing, yeah, I'm guessing some decent years. Yeah, you know,
trying to be nice for a converted wide receiver Ryan Tannehill. Yes,
Dylan Daniel.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
Actually squeezed out a nice contract during his time and
ten after being cast away from the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah, is it Drake may Or is it Mike Rabel?
I know we love to do this. We certainly did
this with Belichick and Brady. But you know this is
a good problem to have. When you say, well, is
it the coach or is it the quarterback? I would
just say, how about you guys share the credit. Now
nobody's saying, hey, I'm more responsible. I'm just curious when

(06:04):
you talk about coaching quarterback, what's I always talk about
you got to have a quarterback. But there are good
quarterbacks who could be great except for they don't have
a good head coach. We've seen that where all of
a sudden, I mean, Sam Darnold to me is an
MVP candidate this year. He's played really, really well and

(06:26):
maybe didn't have the coaching earlier in his career with
the Jets. You know you got Baker Mayfield. Baker Mayfield
was an MVP candidate. Now they got a lot of
injuries there in Tampa. Now look at him. So Matthew
Stafford having a great head coach and Sean McVay, Kyle Shanahan,

(06:46):
whatever quarterback he got to the Super Bowl with Rock
Perty and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
Yes, Marvin, what you just said there, that's just an
indictment on the Lions previous the previous regime, the Browns
and the Jets. Now you just named the former quarterbacks
of those teams and like.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Man, what happened? Well, I think you have to have
a respected I'm trying to think of the adjectives for
that coach, but that he has the locker room, you
identify with him, you know that you play with his personality,
and you know Kan City, I mean Patrick Mahomes walked

(07:26):
into the ideal place to walk into, talent, Hall of
Fame coach and a couple of Hall of Fame players.
He had stability from day one.

Speaker 8 (07:36):
You know.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams might be a great quarterback. We're
going to find out now he has Ben Johnson, but
prior to that he did not having that coach like
Jackson Dart Right now with the Giants, who comes in
and does he get better? Does this team get better?
That's what I'm curious about. By the way Jameis Winston
getting to start for the g man. Man, I love

(07:58):
me some Jameis Winston. So he went to the press
conference yesterday, and Jamis Winston did not disappoint.

Speaker 9 (08:06):
I want fans to know that I'm gonna do my best,
you know, obtually, I'm gonna have fun, but I'm gonna execute,
have a surgical execution and just and just play ball.
Man Like, this is something I've been doing since I've
been four years old, and I just get to.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Do it in the greatest city in the world.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
I'm gonna be saying, what my son, it's the greatest
city in the world.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah, that's that's a Hamilton reference. If Yeah, I don't know,
now a ten year reunion, Okay, he's ready to go.
I didn't know we were gonna get a Hamilton, but
I of course saw it with the original cast twice.
But Jameis Winston ready to go. I feel like, now
the personality is fun, it's content for me, but I

(08:49):
think his personality hurts him. You know, when you're eating
a w and you know he's kind of goofy. He's entertaining,
but I don't think you want that as your quarterback.
I think we kind of want you a little more
buttoned up. You know. If you're a starter, I want
you that way. If you're a backup, okay, he can
be a little goofy. But and his numbers aren't bad.

(09:13):
If I take away the one season when he had
thirty interceptions, he's had some pretty good numbers. The first
four years he was pretty good. But I think his
personality might hurt him a little bit where it's like
that guy's going to be our franchise quarterback or he's
our starting quarterback. He needs a little goofy. I think
in today's game, I don't think there's room for goofy

(09:36):
where there used to be. You know, back in the
sixties and seventies, you could have a character. Jim McMahon
was a character, you know, in the eighties, Joe Namath
was a personality, but not goofy. I mean people, you know,
there was great respect for him, Kenny the snake stabler,
you know, his partying, but when he got on the field,

(09:57):
he was a great you know, so Jamis is going
to be entertaining one way or another. He'll be entertaining.
It might be for the Giants, you know, or it
might be for the opposition.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Yes, Paul, is he goofy or calculated goofy. He's getting
a lot of notoriety the past few years about his
goofiness quirkiness, and it's positive, like the media loves it
and says I saw someone say there's gonna be a
line out the door to sign him when his career
is over to be a media person. And some people

(10:28):
play that up, like Ryan Fitzpatrick. I think is completely
calculated at the end of his career. He grew the
beard and had this persona and he's parlayed that into
a media career. I can't tell with jamis.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Well, I guess if your end game is to be goofy,
to show a personality and somebody's gonna hire you, Okay,
I mean I I want you to be really good
as a football player, not you know, really good at
being goofy so you can get a job after you
play football, because that will happen a little bit sooner
if you don't play well at football.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Yes, Todd, where's the line I guess between enthusiasm and
grateful for the opportunity and odd?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
What can you be both? Don't can you be enthusiastically odd,
I guess, is my question. And is that helpful moving
forward and eating at w.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I don't know. I don't think this is calculated.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
I think that's his genuine personality and I'm trying to
figure out if that's good. And you know, the thought
bubbles of the team when you see him on the
sideline doing all these crazy antics. What they're whispering to
each other? Are they rolling their eyes like I love
this guy, let's play hard for them.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Well, it seems like his teammates lik him. Jackson Dart
had fun with him earlier in the season, maybe preseason.
That seems like he would be a fun guy. I
just want to know when he gets out there on
the football field, is he going to be a serious
Is he going to be a football player or is
he going to be an entertainer. I don't want entertainment.
You can do that at the press conference. I want you,
when you're on the field to play well. Yes, Marvin,

(11:57):
I think he's going to be serious.

Speaker 7 (11:59):
Also, this whole goofy stick or stupid, either way you
want to put it. It's been going on since Florida State.
He walked out in full uniform once when he was
suspended and Jimbo Fisher just kind of put his head down.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
He's like, you're a full uniform, go back in the log.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
What are you doing? He was suspended and he was
out there in his warm up, he was warming up
like he was playing. And then he went in and
got his full uniform on and Jimbo Fisher didn't know
that he was going to have his full uniform on.
And he's out there and Jimbo Fisher's like, what are
you doing? Because he wasn't going to play, but there
was nothing that said that he wasn't allowed to be

(12:33):
out there on the field. I guess in uniform. Dylan,
what's poll question for the first hour of the program.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Well, we've got some options Dan. For one, did the
Jets have a shot to win tonight?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yes? Or no?

Speaker 6 (12:46):
And this actually is twofold because the results of this
could inform my betting decision.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yeah, we have the gambling podcast after the show today
at Dan Patrick dot com with Dylan, Shayan Irving and
also bad Larry Well. Yes, they have a chance. They're
on the football field. I know, but it is the Jets,
I know, but they Yes, they have a chance. If
you're not on the field, then you have no chance.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
If over fifty percent of people say they don't have
a chance, I will take jets money line tonight. I'm
trying something new.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I would like a little more logic behind your picks
with the gambling podcast. This is actually good.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
I can survey the people.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Okay, Well, is that the poll questions.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
That there's also Paul sent one.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
This is interesting.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
Who would you bet a week's pay on to make
the Hall of Fame a young NFL star. I'll h
Jayden Daniels or Drake May, Paul Skins or Victor Wemberyama.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Well, let me take a break. I have to get
ready to digest that, prepare my notes. Get ready. Okay,
all right, so I ran down the guest list. Chris
Simms will join us. We'll also talk to Kevin Love.
And yes, I'll bring up the awkward moment apparently last

(14:06):
year when I was comparing Cooper Flagg's career to Kevin Love's,
and I said, if he put up the numbers that
Kevin Love has put up in his career, we would
probably look at that as a disappointment. It's not a
knock on Kevin Love, but people thought it was because
Kevin Love is probably going to be a Hall of Famer.
I'm talking about I'm blaming us, the media and the

(14:28):
expectation level that we have for Cooper Flag. All right, well,
take a break, just getting started hour one. We'll hear
from Seaton coming up next hour. Back after this Dan
Patrick Show.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Away age seven to seven three DP show. Interesting pole
question that dropped right before we took a commercial break. There.
Dylan in for Seaton, so what is that poll question
that PAULI suggested?

Speaker 6 (15:33):
So who would you bet a week's pay on to
make the Hall of Fame? A young NFL star like
Jaden Daniels or Drake May, Paul Skins or Victor Wembanyama.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Victor wemban Yama's the easiest one to make. Yes, yes,
you could do Drake May versus Jaden Daniels. Isn't it
interesting how quickly people moved on from Jaden Daniels that
he had some injuries this year. He might have had
the greatest rookie season quarterback has ever had. Last year
a couple of injuries. Now all of a sudden, Hey,

(16:05):
if you could redraft, would you take Drake May or
Jaden Daniels? And you have analysts saying they take Drake
may Man, How soon we forget Drake May really good quarterback.
Jaden Daniels put up an incredible rookie season and he's
injured now, So I would say Victor Wembenyama not even

(16:27):
close because that quarterbacking position, as we've seen, Jaden Daniels
is injured right now. Now, you did have the blood
clot with Victor Wembanyama, but then you also have the
fact that somebody is seven to six and there's always
going to be foot issues or knee issues with somebody
that big. But Victor Wembanyama right on Q he had

(16:48):
thirty one, fourteen and ten. Stefan Castle had twenty three,
ten and ten, so they had two triple doubles and
the Spurs in the same game. They also lost that
game because Steph Curry put up forty six the Joker
put up fifty five and twelve rebounds. So the fifty

(17:12):
five matches SGA for the most in a game this season.
But if I put Paul's Skeens in there, you know,
it's tricky with a pitcher. He's great. You know, he's
kind of had that start. That's similar to tim Linsecomb
because I think Timmy did he win the cy Young

(17:32):
his rookie year or was it his second year, just
like Skeens, Trek Scouobel has won back to back cy
Young's probably pitching for somebody else next year. There was
a report. I don't know if his report, but there
was an article that talked about Skeens wants to play
for the Yankees, and I go back and forth with
the Pirates you know, I'm sure it's mutual by the way,

(17:55):
that the Yankees would like to have Paul skeans, but
I know he and his girlfriend Livvy Done, they bought
an apartment in New York City. I don't know if
that means anything other than a great place to live.
But Paul Skans the Pirates, what do you do? What
can you get in return for somebody like that? You
lost Garrett Cole years ago to the Yankees, and he

(18:18):
was one of those prized possessions. With the Pirates, it
feels like they're a farm team. Manimals act like they're
a farm team. They've had talent there, but you know,
their ceiling is a lot lower than these other teams. Yes, Dylan.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Well, also, I think Livy Done was originally trying to
buy Babe Ruth's old apartment and got denied. Yes, you'll
revenge play here, go to the Yankees and tank.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Well, Now, if you go to the Yankees, then they
would probably say, we want you to have the Babe
Ruth apartment there.

Speaker 6 (18:52):
So it's a long play again, Paul Skins the Yankees.
Then she gets the apartment. Yeah, everyone's happy.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Or maybe she tries to find Mickey Mantle's apartment or
maybe you know Lou Garrigg's apartment, collect them all. Yes,
you probably could. Yeah, well with the money that he's
going to make. But uh, if I was looking at guaranteed.
You know, Victor, you know the thing with Jayden Daniels
and Drake May is I mean, really you got to

(19:18):
have teams success and the Commanders went to the playoffs
last year, played well. He played extremely well, and you
know it feels like the Patriots are the flavor of
the month. Yes, dealing, should we amend it to who
would you bet on Jaden Daniels, Drake May or neither
for the Hall of Fame? Yeah, sure if you want to.

(19:41):
I just think it's it's tougher to bring in other
players in other sports if you're just doing these two quarterbacks.
I mean, you could do Jaden and Daniels. You could
do Drake May. You could do Caleb Williams if you
wanted to spice it up a little bit there. I'm
not gonna put Bo Nicks in there. Maybe if we
were doing this whole question last year close to the playoffs,

(20:04):
because they just haven't played that well offensively. But Drake
May has played well. But I also think when you
have a coach that instills confidence in you to play
how you need to play, and it feels like that.
I don't feel like Drake May is looking over When
Mac Jones was there, I always felt like he was
looking over, like my in trouble is somebody mad? You know,

(20:28):
You're just kind of like, yeah, Marvin.

Speaker 7 (20:30):
I think Josh McDaniels deserves a lot of credit also
because Mac Jones, to me, kind of got railroaded because
your defensive coordinator was calling on offensive plays. Now you
have the guy that had Tom Brady, yeah, and now
you got Drake May.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Yes. I think that that helps having the infrastructure there,
But I think Mike Rabel has maybe given the confidence
allowed Drake May to play the way he needs to play.
I think Ben Johnson's trying to get Caleb Williams to
play the way Ben Jon Hunsen wants him to play,
not the way Caleb Williams wants to play. And that's

(21:04):
even trickier. By the way, this Eagle situation. I just
don't get it with aj Brown. I don't know why
he's upset, Like you're winning, you can get numbers, you
can go get numbers. Go play, Go play with Cleveland.
They'll throw you the ball fifteen times. Do you want that?

(21:26):
Or do you want to play in a structured offense
that maybe you're not going to get as many targets,
but you're going to win. And last I looked, isn't
he getting paid like thirty million dollars? This isn't about
a paycheck. It's it feels like being selfish and in
this you know, in a sport like football, you can't

(21:48):
have it. I get it. Wide receivers have been this
way for the last fifty years, but that doesn't mean
we have to tolerate it. And do I think he'll
be on the team next year? Probably not? Can they win?
Would they have won without him last year?

Speaker 8 (22:02):
No?

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Can they win without him moving forward? Well, we'll probably
find out. But I just I don't understand that, you know.
And did they go rogue on that fourth and sixth
play at the end of the game, because it certainly
sounds like that and some of the players and those
who are covering the team, they decided to change the

(22:24):
play fourth and sixth and Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown
think they're gonna somehow surprise everybody which they did. They
surprised everybody on their own team. They just didn't surprise
the opposition. But in that wild now Nick Sirianni's ask
about it, and then you know he's got to act
like he knows about it. Then he says, I'm tired

(22:47):
of talking about this. Wow. This is why it's hard
to repeat, because there's drama when there shouldn't be, and
because you're thinking everybody's gonna, you know, sharing this. Saquon
Arkley's not getting the ball the way he did the
previous year. I guess he could squawk and say what
about me? But you're still winning. You're still one of

(23:11):
the favorites to go back to the Super Bowl. And
that's not enough. And that's a shame because if AJ
Brown goes and ends up with the Texans, he'll just
be a footnote and you go, oh, who is the
guy you didn't want to play with the Eagle?

Speaker 8 (23:26):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yeah, AJ Brown? Where is he? He's in Carolina? Yes, Marvin. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
This might be one of those things where the Eagles
in fifteen years and you start looking at everybody like, man,
they only won one super Bowl with all that talent,
and this might beat a catalyst.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Yeah, it's unfortunate. I mean, okay, he's got a quarterback
who is not a great consistent passer, but he's a winner.
And I'm not taking anything away from Jalen Hurts. I've
said this before. If he's going to be throwing thirty
five times a game, Eagles aren't going to win those games.

(24:06):
When it's balanced, he'll make big plays. You have guys
who can make big plays. You have two really good receivers,
you have a really good tight end, you have a
great running back. Why miss with this? That's what I
don't understand.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Yeah, Pauling, it's got to be frustrating. Two years ago,
Aj Brown six point three catches per game. He's down
to under four. It's pretty drastic. But it's a team
that's almost like it's almost like the Cowboys back in
the day. They ran the ball a lot. There wasn't
a lot of opportunities to catch the ball. But Treygman
I never heard him complain. There was no social media

(24:48):
back then. But you know, Traigman could have said I
want to I want to air it out more.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Or Michael Irvin could have said, hey, can we can
we throw it? I'm always open, but you want to
super Bowls get you paid? Who what is the reason
or what is the reason why AJ Brown is not
getting the same number of targets? Could it be him?
Could it be head coach philosophy? I guess is it personal?

(25:15):
That's what I'm baffled about with this. And I know
he's quirky, you know, read a book on the sidelines
and all of this stuff, and he has been a
great player, but this You only get so many opportunities
because we how many times do we say this, Oh,
somebody's gonna be Oh he's young, he'll get back there,

(25:35):
and then they never get back to the big game
to play for something bigger. Instead, you're playing for yourself. Yes,
don Hey, what's.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
Accomplished by complaining about that publicly? Don't you come across
as a little bit of a whiner and making comments
like if you got me on your fantasy team, get
rid of me because I'm not going to put up
the numbers you're looking forwards. I don't know what that
They all of a sudden're gonna stop throwing it to
him more because he's saying these things and I don't.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Know, well, I think we did wonder about that wasn't
there the next game after he complained, and then he
got a few more targets there. It felt like Nick
Sierra And once again, Nick Siriani always feels like he's
on the hot seat. I think he's always going to
be on the hot seat. It just feels that way,
and I felt that way even after they won the

(26:17):
Super Bowl. It just was weird. And then it never
feels like he's got a true handle on his team.
There's always something going on from the first play prior
to the first play of the season.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
Oh yeah, Paul playing receiver for the Eagles is like
playing receiver for Army Football and complaining about targets they
Jalen hurts. He's the twenty fifth ranked passer in the
league for attempts. That means he's in the bottom seven
and attempts per game. They do not throw the ball
a lot, not even the top fifteen, not even the
top twenty. They don't throw the ball and that's their plan.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
Yeah, yeah, Marv, the Eagles don't get to at least
the NFC Championship game.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Sirianni is in trouble. M sis, I don't know. Once again,
I've just felt like it's it's a weird situation. It's
been that way. Then you had to fire both of
your coordinators. Now you do win the Super Bowl, but
even then it just feels awkward. Yeah, Mark, all right,

(27:25):
let me rephrase that.

Speaker 7 (27:26):
Okay, if they lose to somebody besides the Detroit Lions,
make Sirianni's in trouble.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, but the Rams could be playing better. I mean,
the Rams have been great.

Speaker 7 (27:36):
If they lose to a team besides the Lions, they
should beat everyone else. That team's way too talented. Now
they could have lost to the Rams. They could have.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yeah, but they that was at home, right, Okay, So
if the Rams beat him this year, I wouldn't be
surprised at all.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
But Sirianni, Okay, he's always gonna be He's always gonna
be in a hot set. They fired Doug Peterson two years
after he won a Super Bowl, So super Bowl for
the doesn't mean much, Yes, Tod.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Why does he give us give off a vibe that
he's out of place or in over his head? Or
is that unfair? Do you get that feeling with Sirianni?
I know they took play calling duties away. Maybe that
feeds into it and all that, but he just has
this vibe of like he doesn't fully get it or
this is a little much for him.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Once again, I just go back to the word awkward.
It's like press conferences, it feels like you're awkward. Now
he's got to you know, I got to talk about this.
I don't want to talk about this. It just feels
like there's this undercurrent of drama. Yes, Dylan, he's one.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
Of those guys who, like his introductory press conference was
a disaster at the time, and I don't think Spole
forget that.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah. Yeah, they're guys who just don't sound like they're
a head coach, like Jonathan Gannon when he had his
press conference and wasn't it boy, there's our leader there, Yes,
Marvin liam Cohen.

Speaker 7 (28:52):
Also there's some guys even Mike McDaniel was like, he's
the head coach.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah, yes, boll.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
But the one thing with an AJ Brown situation, he's
not at all tailing off for his career. He's a big,
strong wide receiver still in his prime. I think he's
under thirty years old. You know, if if your production
was down, or your ability were down, or you were hurt,
they would have sent him in the trade deadline, but
he's not in that position yet.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Russell and Philly. Hi, Russ, what's on your mind today? Hey,
good morning.

Speaker 8 (29:24):
First a long time six one, two ten. So the
other day we were talking about, First of all, you
talked about Wes's Point, beautiful place. My son was invited
there last year. We went up for a game day invite.
But on second point, after the fourth and sixth play,
you see Nick panned the camera over to Nick Sirianni

(29:45):
and you can see him mouthing, why why why? So
I don't understand it. Hopefully you get it together. A J. Brown,
stop being a primadonna man. That's don't legal scow birds.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, I don't. I don't understand it that. Okay, if
you're a on a suspect team, Let's say you're on
the Browns. Let's say you used to be a high
end receiver. You're on the Browns, you don't have a quarterback,
you're not winning, it's a mess, and then you're complaining
that you don't get your touches. Okay, I get that.

(30:16):
I understand that. I understand that that could be a
personality trade. But you're with the Eagles, and you are winning.
If you weren't winning, then you could say, hey, I'm
gonna help us win. Get me the ball.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
Yes, Marvin, I could understand if he was in a
contract year and needed needed to get paid. But he
already got paid.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Yes he gets paid. Yes, it's I don't. I got
to get my numbers so I can get paid. You
got paid. We're gonna pay you to not go rogue
on a fourth and sixth here, We're gonna pay you
to not complain to the media.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Just go.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
You get a myopic view. Sometimes you get a selfish view.
Guys will talk about their touches all the time. Shots. Hey,
I'm not getting my shots. Okay, it doesn't mean you're
going to get them because now you're complaining. But it
does feel like as a wide receiver, they've always said, hey,
I'm always open, Get me the ball. Go back to

(31:20):
to I mean, there's all you know, it's littered with
wide receivers who are always open. You know, Joe Montana
and Steve Young would say Jerry Rice would come back
and say he's always open. Now, if Jerry said that,
I'm going to believe him because he probably was open.
But aj Brown, you got paid. You're the defending super
Bowl champs. Wouldn't you want another ring? Then if you

(31:44):
want to go someplace else, go and you're gonna that's
when reality sets in. Yes, Paulie, remember back.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
In the day when the Patriots were on their run
and there'd be a wide receiver and he'd go out
to Seattle and take a bigger contract and get more touches,
and the Patriots be in the super Bowl and then
they go back three years later.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Was that Dion Branch Yes, no names, yeah, no, put
a name to it. He wanted his touches, he got
super Bowl MVP. Hey, I'm gonna go get paid. I
understand that, but you also have to understand what you
give up. How important is winning? Every day you go
to practice, you know you have a chance to win

(32:24):
that next game, every season, you know you have a
chance to win. I would think that would be the
great incentive, the great elixir. I understand you can trade
off money for success, But when you have both of
them and you're Aj Brown, that's what I don't understand.
And maybe he doesn't respect his head coach, maybe as

(32:44):
a problem with Jalen Hurts, but it feels like there's
some reason why he's not getting as many touches, Yes.

Speaker 7 (32:52):
Mark, But do you think also he might be thinking
about his numbers for later on when he's trying to
get into the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Yeah, Paul, winning gets you in the Hall of Fame.
You win three Super Bowls and you don't have to
have great stats. You could have good stats as a
wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
It sneak in. I mean, Draymond Green is not in
the Hall of Fame if he plays in Charlotte. Correct,
He's just not. I mean Lynn swan went in and
John Stalworth went in. Now, granted that's a whole different era,
but Swannee didn't even have four hundred catches, I don't think.
But he had great moments in the super Bowl, on

(33:30):
the big stage. He played big winning. You know, we
love those who win. That's why you know, we kind
of held the Buffalo Bills in Minnesota, Vikings those players
accountable that you got to the super Bowl but you
didn't win. Yeah, but they got to the super Bowl. Yes, Ton,
here's a crazy idea.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Maybe he's done it.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
So who knows what Maybe a J Brown gos Hey, Jayleen,
I talk to you for a minute.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Hey, coach, you got a minute when there's.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
No cameras and no lights and you're not being interviewed,
and you're not on Instagram, you're not doing a social
media thing.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Just okay, you got to talk to it for a
minute about something.

Speaker 10 (34:02):
Times.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Bet on my mind, I'm not getting the ball enough.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
How about the coach says, Hey, Jalen a j Let's
go out, Let's go to dinner, let's talk, Let's figure
this out. How do we make this better. It should
be on the coach to be able to have the players,
you know, tell him what's going on.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
If you're assuming leadership quarters.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
All right, let me take a break. I'll talk to
Chris Sims about this because I'm I'm puzzled. Well, come back.
We got our play of the day and your phone
calls right after this.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Of the day.

Speaker 10 (34:57):
The day, check this out has hit aggo rewriting record
books tonight and she's in transition here two on one
with Tassus drops it off and Hidalgo.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
That's the record for Notre Dame.

Speaker 10 (35:12):
Forty three points on a historic night for Hannah Hidalgo.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
As courtesy of the ACC Network. My girl, Hannah Hidalgo
had forty four points. She also had sixteen steals. That's
the old time record. In case you're wondering, I thought
it was sixteen assists, and I go, that's pretty good.
Forty four and sixteen. It was sixteen steals. She had

(35:40):
nine rebounds, four assists. She played twenty eight minutes. That
is your play of the day. Play of the Day

dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Yes, Paul, When I saw the scroll last night with Hidalgo,
and I saw sixteen steals, like, well, someone added a one.
It's clearly six in a game. Uh, that's the most
in organized basketball. College are pro all time men or women.
The WNBA record is ten. College men is thirteen. The
NBA is eleven. No one's had more than that organized back.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
At some point, don't you think you whoever Hannah Hidalgo
is guarding that you don't have them with the ball,
or if you get the ball and she's guarding you,
you pass it quickly. But when we met her in
South Bend a couple of weeks ago, and she's probably
five to five, but she says, I love locking people up,

(36:46):
I love playing defense. But she can also score. And
she's the face of college basketball. I mean a big personality.
When she walks into the room, you know she's in
the room. And with Juju out this season, she is
the face of college basketball. And she you know, when

(37:07):
you you can't take your eyes off of her because
she is involved in everything. She just dynamic, and you
know it's one of those where she's not afraid. She
plays like she's six', five not five to five or five.
Six let's See david In. Ohio, Hi, david what's on
your mind? Today?

Speaker 11 (37:24):
Yeah, DAN i got to write tomorrow's headline. Today brabel is,
Able patriots ground The.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Jets thank?

Speaker 4 (37:33):
You, okay, yes hunh that sounds like one of my
mailed in, Ones, hey what rhymes with the?

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Coaches are you usually have a sexual? Innuendo you WERE pauli.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Or Something i've used. BEFORE i didn't just say that
a couple of months.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Ago jordan In, Peoria Hi, jordan what's on your? Mind Hey?

Speaker 12 (37:51):
Dan thanks for having me on as. Always you were
talking a little earlier about the relationship between like the
quarterback and the, coach AND i was, curious is there
any other sport you can think for that relationship is more.
Important i'm thinking about, baseball and you, know you never
hear about you, KNOW i think about pitcher and how
a pitcher really controls the game similar to a. Quarterback
you never hear, like, oh he's got a great coach behind.

(38:11):
Him so just want of your thoughts on.

Speaker 11 (38:12):
That thanks so.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Much, WELL i think having a great catcher is really
beneficial and your pitching coach, manager you, KNOW i think
that only matters when you want to stay in the
game and your manager will trust you or you have
a good relationship with. Him but, yeah coaching, quarterback but you,
know the head coach is not always involved in the.

(38:34):
Offense now it feels like your offensive coordinator is more
important to your. Quarterback Dan campbell now calling the plays
for The, lions which is kind of, Interesting and because
then what are you saying to your offensive? Coordinator is
That Johnny morton who's the offensive coordinator, there and you're, like,
Hey i'm going to take over at least for a

(38:57):
little while. Here but, YEAH i would think your offensive,
COORDINATOR i mean he's in the meetings with you all the,
time head coach giving you that longitude and latitude is really.
Important AND i think that's What Ben johnson's goal With
Caleb williams, Is, hey trust, Me i'm going to make

(39:18):
you a better. Quarterback and, granted you KNOW i Helped Jared,
goff But Jared goff was not hurting himself by scrambling.
Around Jared goff was limited in his. Athleticism Caleb williams
might have too. Much and then you want to take
advantage of. That you want to have, highlights you. KNOW

(39:39):
i feel like kids today grow up thinking. HIGHLIGHTS i
want to be on. SPORTS i want to make a
highlight instead Of and this is why the red zone
is very very. Deceiving when you watch you're, like, yeah
that guy's having a great. Game, well those are. Highlights
it's when you watch an entire, game BECAUSE i didn't
Think Drake may had a great game Against Tampa, bay

(40:00):
but he made some plays and that's what you. Want
but sometimes you'll Watch Caleb williams didn't have a great
game against The. Giants he had great moments and he's
built for the fourth. Quarter he loves, it lives for.
It dave In, Rochester, Hi, dave what's on your? Mind?

Speaker 8 (40:19):
Hello?

Speaker 11 (40:19):

(40:43):
Vacumen is he taking his own privilege to create his
own profit as he created that poll this? MORNING i
think we do you have by? Laws then we do.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Not we do not have. Eyelas but thank, You. Dave
i'm the on budsman. Here and if you have Tracked dylan's, gambling,
uh he needs all the help he can.

Speaker 8 (41:08):

Speaker 6 (41:09):
Well seventy percent of people think The jets have no,
shots So i'm taking The jets to, night.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
