Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio. It's our one on this Thursday. Football coming
up tonight, the Bengals and the Ravens. Perhaps the last
call for the Bengals, last call got to win this
game eight seven to seven to three. DP Show email
address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
If you're watching on peacock, thank you. You've downloaded the app.
You can watch this program all three hours. We have
college football coming up tonight as well. We'll recap what
happened in the NBA last night. The Warriors in Boston
get the win, Cavaliers, oh by the way, nine to oh.
So we'll get to your phone calls. We got a

(00:42):
pull question play of the day. All of that forthcoming
and looking at some of the prop bets as well.
The Bengals are getting six against the Ravens. The over
unders fifty three, so they're expecting some points here. And
in case you're in fantasy and you're wondering, what are
they thing for Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow's going to have
a big passing night, Derrick Henry. The over under is

(01:05):
eighty nine and a half against the Bengals lamar over
under a fifty yards rushing. So it'll be one of
those situations with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
And by the way, I was looking.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
At their odds to make the playoffs, the Bengals odds
to make the playoffs are better than the Broncos, the Buccaneers,
and the Cardinals, which might surprise you if they can
get through this next wave of games. So you have
this game with Baltimore, you have the Chargers coming up,
you have the Cowboys, you have the Steelers, and then
towards the end of the season, it's not a murderers

(01:42):
row there. I think they end the season with Pittsburgh.
Now what is that going to mean for either one
of these teams? But this feels like last call for
the Cincinnati Bengals if you're going to put up a
good fight, and I'm waiting for that defense to be
a whole lot better than it's been. Joe Burrow's been
really good, really good. Now you want to see if
that defense can stand up against the high powered Baltimore offense.

(02:07):
Speaking of offense, I'm watching Golden State last night because
we spent a lot of time talking about, Oh, what's
it going to be like Steve Kerr going to Boston.
He didn't play Jason Tatum. And it wasn't Steve Kerr's
fault that Jalen Brown didn't make the roster, just to
let you know, maybe he had a say in it,
but there are other people who were forming the roster,

(02:27):
but he didn't play Jason Tatum. So we were waiting
to see is Jason Tatum going to go for eighty
points last night? Well he didn't. He played really really
well and Steve Kerr went in there and got the win.
Here is Jason Tatum after the loss.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Jason, seems like you want to put the drama around
the Olympics behind you. The fans seem to lean into
the drama. How much, if at all, was that on
your mind and how much do you think impacted your game?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It wasn't on my mind. Just another Wednesday, another game,
another opportunity to come in and try to be the
best player I can be in another day to just
try to get a win. Okay.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I mean it's a tough question to answer, and as
you could see, Jason Tatum gave him nothing. Yeah, he
does want to put this behind him. I don't think
he wants to have this always lingering. And now you're
gonna play Golden State one more time in the regular season,
so maybe it comes up then. But last night, pretty much,
in my opinion, put an end to it. You want
a gold medal, here's Steve Kerr.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Last night, I don't give it a whole lot of
thought other than yeah, I didn't. I didn't enjoy, you know,
not playing Jason against Serbia, not playing Joel against South Sudan.
Those are those are not fun decisions. But our guys
were all amazing. They committed to each other, they committed

(03:55):
to winning the gold medal, They brought brought the gold
home for their country. They all handled themselves with incredible
dignity and class. And that's the real story.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Okay, all right, we've done anything else to see here.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
Yeah, seedhen I mean, it's not like they lost. I know,
it's not like they didn't medal.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
I know.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
It's not like we're saying, like, what went wrong for
Team USA in this last Olympics.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Why didn't he play Tatum? What the hell?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
They could have won the gold medal by six points.
Ye Tatum had played, They rolled like they won. They
won thanks to the old guys, Steph KD and Lebron.
By the way, Lebron last night he's thirty nine years
of age. He had thirty nine. They got blown out
though they lost by seventeen. So he's had three games

(04:46):
of thirty nine or more since he turned thirty nine.
The only person who has done that Michael Georgian.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Come on.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
Stat of the.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Day Stana Day, stand outa day, scant outa day. This
is the stand of the Day.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I was trying to build up the drama, but then
I realized that what were you gonna say, Robert Parrish,
maybe Vince Carter. No, it's Michael Jeffrey Jordan Junior. The
third stat of the Day brought to you by Pennini America.
The official trading cards of the program, the Foliage Flannels.
I have one of the flannels from previous years. They're gorgeous.

(05:31):
They're available in the store at Danpatrick dot com. Also
slide into the weekend Slider Sunday kingsa Hawaiian. They want
you to get together with family and friends and enjoy
the weekend, making every Sunday a Slider Sunday.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Yes, Paul quick Side bet NBA.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
If anyone would like to do it. Okay, I don't
know what Lebron's stats are right now, it's too early
in the season I really judge them, but they're pretty good.
Michael Jordan's last year when he was thirty nine years old, Oh,
he started sixty seven games. He played thirty seven minutes
per game, by the way, and he averaged twenty points
six rebounds for assists.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I'll take Lebron's numbers across.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
The boarder, yes, yes, maybe not minutes.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yes, Like you could see and I remember when Mike
was playing with the Wizards, there was a drop off,
but because the sky was so high for Mike that
there had to be a drop off. Lebron is not
His game is not predicated by explosive moves like he
just understands the game. He's so you know, talented, being

(06:34):
that big, physical and and Mike needed, you know, getting
from point A to point B. He was so quick,
he was catlike, and then you could see that he
was certainly not that kind of player anymore.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Now.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
I could still get you thirty a night if he
wanted to. But Lebron, I mean, I'm watching Lebron and
there's not much of a drop off. Now can he
get twenty five and a quarter like he did before? No,
but he still has that ability to be a top
ten player in the NBA at age thirty nine, which
is remarkable. It's just you're looking at the Lakers here,

(07:11):
and I know we gave JJ Redick's flowers. That's why
we're only a couple weeks into the season. I mean,
how about we wait until after Christmas and then we go. Okay,
I got a pretty good idea, Jj Redikin coach. This
Laker team is competitive. One thing I will point out
watching last night, Golden State plays defense. I know when

(07:34):
we think of Golden State, you think threes. He thinks
Steph Curry and rightfully, so when they win, they win
because they play great defense. They got a deep bench,
and are they going to miss Klay Thompson. Yes, but
Buddy Healed is really good. He comes off the bench.
He made four threes last night, he finished with sixteen points.

(07:58):
I mean, it's not that much of a drop off,
and you're gonna play ten or eleven players right now. Now,
that won't be the case, you know, in February. But
I got to limit steps minutes every single night. I
don't need him, I don't want him. I should say
to be the guy who's got to get thirty five
a night. If he can give me twenty six, I'm

(08:19):
good with that, but I got to limit his minutes.
Golden State plays defense. Oklahoma City plays defense. Those are
two of the best teams right now in the West.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Golden State whis there. They're uh seven and one, seven
and one.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Oklahoma City is probably seven and one as well. But
they play defense, and that's I you know, we don't
talk about that very often. It's almost like when you
go back to the running rebels of UNLV in the
early nineties. They put up a lot of points, but
they got kick started on defense to put up those points.

(08:59):
They were great on turnovers in transition, they played wonderful
defense led by Stacy Augman. But this gets lost sometimes
where we go. Man, the NBA just about shooting threes,
it is, But if you want to take that next step,
you want to be a championship caliber team, you got
to play defense.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
At some point.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
You got to be able to stop somebody because everybody
else is able to score.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
What do you do differently?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
And I think what Golden State has done, and I
told you, that's my pick to win the West. They
play defense as long as everybody's staying healthy. They got
some young players too who are contributing. That's another big deal. Now,
do I think Boston's going to be there at the end?
I do, And I think Jason Tatum is going to
be the MVP, and when Jalen Brown is there, I

(09:46):
mean that's really a balanced you know, obviously a great
lineup there. But last night it was kind of fun
to see Golden State go in there, the reaction. They
wanted it to be something. It just didn't turn out
to be something.

Speaker 8 (09:59):
Yes, Marv, So yesterday you were talking about who's going
to shoot more three points?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (10:04):
What do you think the turnout was.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
As far as Boston versus Golden State? Correct? I would
say Boston by twenty. Yes. I think I had him
shooting fifty five.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
They shot fifty four, okay, and the Warriors shot thirty four.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Wow, I hate seeing it, and look, I love outside shooting.
I just there's so much more to basketball than that.
And it goes back to what I've said, and I
know this is on a repeat, but it's baseball where
it's just about home runs or strikeouts. It's about making
a three or missing a three, and basketball is really

(10:43):
about movement and when you see it and Golden State,
Steph Curry never stops.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Never. I love the fact that he moves.

Speaker 7 (10:53):
You know.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
One of my favorite players was John Halchak. If you're
old enough to remember the Celtics, he never stopped. It's
really hard, or it's a whole lot harder to try
to guard somebody who's moving. Reggie Miller reg never stop moving,
you know, Rip Hamilton, never stop moving, And that, to me,
that's basketball movement. Now it's just five five on the

(11:17):
perimeter and you're like, okay, all right, and then you
move it around, moving around, moving around, move around, and
then somebody takes a three. I hope we get teams
that will be just like the Ravens. The Ravens are
running the football. We're seeing teams running the football more
because everybody is geared up to stop the past.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Maybe you see somebody.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I just don't know what you would do with Shack
if Shaq came out now, or Yao Ming came out
right now, what do you do with those guys?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Just stay down low?

Speaker 3 (11:48):
Is Shaq going to be shooting threes, which is not
good for anybody, like even Zach Edie who's played well,
Like you just see these big men and you're like, man,
looks out of place. But I wonder what would the
what would that team do, What would their offensive philosophy
philosophy be if they had Shack, Because I would just say, Shack,

(12:11):
go down low. You're gonna get fifty tonight. This is
Wilt Chamberlain in the early sixties. Just go down there,
we're going to get fifty.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
Yes, Paullen, you'd need a GM in the NBA to
defy analytics and become a two point team that pounded
it down low and slowed down the game. And I
don't know if that guy could get hired in this NBA.
It's like it can't happen because they won't even let
it get started.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
But I make you double team Shack.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Oh yeah, Now everybody on the perimeter is going to
be even better because your looks are going to be open.
I'm gonna say, Shaq's getting the ball, go down there.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Now.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Hopefully this version of Shaq would make free throws, but
that that would have to be mandatory. Shack, I'm gonna
throw you the ball every single time. You got to
make your free throws. Derek Patrick shut though up. I
think Shaq joins next week so I can ask him
about this. You know, what would the NBA be like

(13:05):
if he was there? One other thing? And it's coming up,
I believe next week. And I guess it's the fight
that the world is waiting for. It's Mike Tyson fighting
Jake Paul. I didn't know the world was waiting for it.
And hey, look, maybe you're going to go out and
buy the fight.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Good for you.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
I think the undercart is pretty good. But Mike is
fifty seven years of age and I think Jake Paul
is twenty seven, so thirty year difference. And I know Mike,
he's putting out these hype videos and you know, so
I'm hearing the commercials for this. It's it's the fight
the world wants to see. I've been around a lot

(13:44):
of these fights where they try to hype him up,
whether it was Jerry Cooney fighting Larry Holmes, Mike Tyson
going against Marvis Frazier or Michael Spick, and there's part
of you like, I just want Mike to come out
of this alive, not damaged, not hurt. And it's weird

(14:07):
to say because Mike's an underdog here. But I'm listening
to that commercial and I go, I don't want to
watch it. I don't, but I am. I am curious about, like,
why would Mike do this?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Now? You can say money, but really.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
I think he's doing pretty well these days, Mike. Yeah, yeah,
I think he's doing pretty well.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Okay, but why why do this? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I just hope that you know, because people might go,
what's the big deal about Mike Tyson? You know, a
generation that never saw him and be like, uh, google
him and then you'll get a better sense. But do
I want to see him now fight Evander Holyfield or
is he going to fight I don't know any other influencer? Yes, Ton,
And it's an actual sanction.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
This is gonna go on their.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Record that somebody actually sanctioned the seat.

Speaker 6 (15:04):
I wonder if part of it is because I know
that I'm not even necessarily like a boxing fan, but
I mean, I enjoy it. But when I look at
Jake paulm like that dude's not a real boxer, And
I could only imagine how intense that feeling could be
if I was once, say, a former heavyweight champion of
the world. I mean, like, my sport is in tatters,

(15:26):
and there's YouTubers out now who are kind of like
the biggest boxer in the world.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Why don't I go show them what a real boxer
looks like.

Speaker 6 (15:33):
I feel like that if I was a former professional boxer,
I feel like I would take it very seriously, like
that poser, that pos is ruining my sport.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
It's trying to act like he's me.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
Yeah, he's trying to act like he's accomplishing the same
things that I did against real fighters.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
No way, Yeah, Marv.

Speaker 8 (15:50):
And also Mike Tyson has a real Tiger Woods feel
to him. No matter what, you're still like, he still
got a shot. Yeah, because maybe the generation previously it's
still like, but you don't you didn't see what we saw.
And I still think he has a chance. Anytime Tyer
gets into a tournament, I think he can do it.
And I think that's what Mike Tyson brings to the table.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Well, I think Mike has a better chance winning than
Tiger does because Tiger, I don't think is healthy enough
to play four consecutive days. Mike needs one punch, and
it feels like most of America is rooting for that
one punch, Like I'm just rooting for my I like Mike.
I don't know Jake Paul. We've never you know, had

(16:34):
Jake Paul on and we won't have Jake Paul on
or his brother Chris Cliff Paul. I don't know he's
got another brother. I don't know if he is. He
a boxer too, Logan Logan Paul, Sure, okay, I think
that's it. Logan Paul, Yeah, just sort of a sidebar

(16:55):
there on the Mike Tyson. The world is waiting for
this fight. I don't think I am. I didn't even
know when it was. I know it got postponed because
Mike had an ulcer, so he had the whatever the
episode when he was on a flight and they're like,
we're gonna have to cancel this.

Speaker 8 (17:12):
I wouldn't feeling very love that't thank you.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
To Let's take a break. We got a lot of
things to talk about. Patrick Mahomes' injury seems okay, what
if he wasn't. Also, you have the game tonight with
the Bengals. This is pretty much their season Last call
eight seven to seven to three, DP show back after this.

(17:54):
I was keeping an eye on Patrick Mahomes's ankle. It
was one of those where, oh, yeah, it's right. He
got up and then the fallout from that and he
appears to be okay. He had that scare a couple
of years ago with his knee and then because I
mean he does put himself out there, it always feels
like he does run and understand the situation, understand the circumstances.

(18:16):
He doesn't just run and go I'm going to fly
all over the place. RG three did that a few
times and it cost him. Josh Allen did that earlier
in his career, not as much so now. But Mahomes
runs in a strategic way. You know, he's opportunistic.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
But he did get banged up with the ankle, and
then I was thinking, if he goes down like, how
good is the infrastructure with the Chiefs Because Carson Wentz
I believe, is the backup quarterback to Patrick.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Mahomes in Kansas City?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Is that a good thing? Is he the right backup
quarterback for Patrick Mahomes? It's difficult to stay healthy for
seventeen games at that position. Now they have done everything
they can to try to ensure that these quarterbacks won't
get banged up. But sixty quarterbacks I believe last year
started to gain. So the odds are your quarterback is
going to get banged up, maybe more serious than that.

(19:11):
Could be out for the season, like Deshaun Watson. It
could be one game with an injury, Dak Prescott out
for a month, that backup quarterback. And I think we
do trust the Chiefs and the infrastructure there. But remember
with Tom Brady when you had Jimmy Garoppolo and what

(19:31):
did we hear? Hey all you need is Belichick be like, really,
like you can just move on from Tom Brady, Hey,
anybody can quarterback this team. Then Jimmy g gets hurt,
and then what is it Jacoby Brissett, Hey, who needs
Jimmy G?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
You got? I'm like, what you guys are crazy, You're
on crack. What are you doing?

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Tom Brady's one of the best quarterbacks and maybe the
best quarterback of all time.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
You're going to have drop off there?

Speaker 7 (19:59):
Now.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Do you have great coaching there?

Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yes, and you have an infrastructure there, and you could
probably have the same thing with the Kansas City Chiefs.
But if you said, hey, can we survive and have
Carson Wentz in there, I say you can survive, but
you're not going to be the team to beat because
Mahomes is irreplaceable.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Brady was irreplaceable. There's certain quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Now we can go back to Joe Montana and we
thought he's irreplaceable, but he was replaceable. Steve Young became
a Hall of Famer when he succeeded him. Denver still
looking for John Elway's successor. You know, there's certain franchises
where you go. You know, the Dolphins been looking for
Dan Marino's successor. But you have certain players who can

(20:47):
fill in. Play well. Matt Castle. When Tom blew out
his knee, Matt Castle came in and when did they
win ten games? People are like Matt Castle, man, he
can play. Okay, you play a little bit, but do
I want to have him as my starting quarterback the
rest of the season or in a big game, because
what is irreplaceable with Mahomes is that ability to make

(21:10):
everybody nervous on the other side, game on the line.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
He's got the ball.

Speaker 7 (21:19):
Yeah, Paulie, So are you saying, let me read between
the lines or read right in the lines? You trust
the chiefs Andy Reid and their coaching staff so much
that the most important player in football they could get
by without him if they had to. And you're not
not complimenting Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (21:35):
Well, what does get by mean though?

Speaker 7 (21:38):
Well, you wouldn't say if Mahomes is ruled out for
the season, hypothetically, Okay, you wouldn't say they have no
chance to make it to the super Bowl. There are
some teams you would probably say that about.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
I would say they'd still have a chance. I'm not
gonna say a good chance. They would have a chance.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
So that's a big compliment to the entire organization.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Yes, yes, but I think that you know, there was
a moment where if Jimmy was the quarterback for the Patriots,
do I think they still could have gotten the playoffs
and been a threat. Yes, But it comes down to
game on the line that quarterback, there's only one or
two people who are like him in the league, and
with Holmes Mahomes, there's nobody like him because we've seen it.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
Yes, it feels like you're trying very carefully to not
call Patrick Mahomes a system quarterback while saying it's actually
the system that does this.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
No, it's his system. But anybody can run it. No,
I mean.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
Ain't it Andy Reids, though.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
I would say that's a pretty much a combo platter
with those guys. I don't think anybody can replicate what
Mahomes does. Can Carson Wentz go in there? And if
he plays good football, are they still going to be
a threat to win the Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (22:47):
I can't deny that. I haven't seen Carson Wentz play
quality football in a while.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
That's I haven't seen to play football. Right, you're right
about that.

Speaker 7 (22:57):
Carson Wentz is on the verge of getting his second
career ring without playing in the Supermowl.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Okay, that's awesome.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
It can be the Jack Haley of quarterbacks. You know,
all I got to do is cheer. But no, I
don't want to diminish Mahomes in any way. But I
do think the system that they have in place of
plug and play, they've plugged.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
They plug and play at every position.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
It feels like running back, wide receiver, offensive line. Certainly
what they've done defensively, they have special teams, great kicker.
That that is a complete team. Yeah, we do a
quick Carson Wentz career salary.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
It's hot. Wow, it's hot. Do you have the numbers?

Speaker 6 (23:39):
Yeah, it's the minute we mentioned any player.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
The first thing I do is look up how much
money they've made. Paula gets to play this time. You're
gonna host it.

Speaker 9 (23:46):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Wait a minute, hold on. My favorite part is right there.

(24:11):
I just wanted to be there when he's recording this.
Is he in the car and his way to work
at a stoplight? Is he at a recording studio? Is
he in the kitchen? His wife and kids are there
for breakfast and he's singing salary?

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Yeah, paul A.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
Quick tidbit here. By the way, Carson Wentz has one
hundred and fifty three career touchdown passes. That's ten and
fewer than Troy Aikman.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
Who would you rather have? You get three rings?

Speaker 7 (24:39):
Troy just didn't throw it a lot.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
He didn't need to. It worked out great. He didn't
need to worked out great.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
All right, Seaton, we're gonna play career salary, Carson Wentz.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Yeah, he's had a hell of a career for himself
in the bank account.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
All right, Todd, you want to make a guestimate.

Speaker 8 (24:58):
One hundred and twelve point three.

Speaker 9 (24:59):
MILLI Marvin one hundred and twenty even Pauline, hell of us,
he said, hell of a, I go one twenty six mil.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Twenty six. I'm gonna go to one thirty four to seven.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Oh man, you know, if it was closest whilst also.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
Going over Dan, you would win one thirty two. Wow,
that's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Wait are you counting that check he just gone, I'm counting. Oh,
I didn't know that he hadn't cashed it yet direct deposit.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Unfortunately, if we were going to include his twenty twenty
five salary, should he get one, then you probably would
have won.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
All right, fair enough? Yeah, yes, but mahomes with the ankle.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
You take him for granted, Yeah, you do when when
he does those you know, escape scrambles down the sidelines. Uh,
but he you can't replace him. He can't replace him
when it comes to the postseason.

Speaker 7 (26:03):
Yes, has anyone ever called him deceptively athletic because body style,
he looks like a dropback quarterback. I'm trying to be nice.
He's not, you know, like a jet run. He's got
a dad bod okay, fair enough, but when he runs,
he has it. He has the moves and enough wheels.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
But I don't know if he's fast. I don't know
if anybody's ever said, hey, you know what is forty?
I have no idea when he goes, though, it's very deliberate.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
When he decides to.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Go, he looks like it feels like Josh Allen is
faster than him. We know Lamar Jackson is in kindermer like.
He's probably a four to seven, four eight guy, Paul,
can you see. I don't know if he didn't run
the forty at the combine, unlikely, But I don't know
if he's run the forty. But that's one of those
guys like Jerry Rice famously ran a four to six.

(26:52):
But I don't think many people caught him from behind.
Maholmes is just he's just elusive. You won't need to
be quick. I can be quick. You don't mean to
be fast. And I can be fast and he's smart
when he runs, but I don't know if he's you know,
four to seven to five guy.

Speaker 7 (27:08):
Yes, Pau, I think this is the pro day for Mahomes,
not the combine, but it's in his file. He ran
a four to eight even okay, forty. Yeah, I'm not surprised.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
It's like Josh Allen I think had the same forty
as Cam Newton did. Like, these are big men who
are great athletes there, but Mahomes that's a respectable But
you probably got how many quarterbacks do you think have
a better forty yard dash time than him? Do you have?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Is Josh Allen for seven five? Exactly correct?

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Yeah, I think Cam Newton was as well. They're just
certain guys who are faster than their time would show.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Yes, Marv Andrew Luck, I think he ran a good forty. Also,
he was a four to seven to five guy too.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I think oh it was downhill both ways.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Looked it up.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Shane in Texas joins us Hi. Shane, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Every day's the Super Bowl?

Speaker 6 (28:07):
No deed, you ask Dan how he's doing.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
I'm calling with a part of the Chase bet of
this year. The Ravens will get past the sheets in
the postseason.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Okay, I don't know if that's really going out on
a limb too much home field advantage. You may not
have that like you did last year. Does anybody want
a piece of Shane in Texas? He's taking the Ravens
over the Chiefs. No, no, no takers, Shane.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Well, I'll try, thank you all right?

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Yeah, well, good luck with that. Brian in Washington, Hi, Brian,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (28:53):
File?

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Well, I'm gonna pluck in two forty suffy.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
So I was looking at that Mike net wearing on
ten million dollars right now. I think say he's been
between twenty and forty million for this one fight. Wait,
is net worth is ten million dollars?

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Now? I know that Don King perhaps took some of
that money or borrowed that money and didn't give it
back to Mike, like a maybe a hundred million. I
don't know, what's another one hundred million. Mike made a
lot of people a lot of money.

Speaker 7 (29:24):
Yeah, Poet, I looked this up in the break and
there's a lot of AI generated type articles that had
the same information about Mike Tyson about how he had
three hundred million and that went to ten a few
years ago, which may have been true. Seaton found some
stuff about his businesses that debunked that.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
Okay, yeah, see, well yeah, I mean he's been involved
in like the marijuana industry now for a few years.
He had one of his companies. I think their revenue
was like one hundred and fifty million in twenty twenty three.
So I don't know what kind of cut he's getting
from that. I don't know what his stake in it is.
In it, hopefully it's a sizable one. But I think

(30:00):
he's doing numbers right now. Yeah, and you know, maybe
he's doing it for the money.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
I don't know. But he's fifty seven.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
He does still look a little terrifying when he does
his workout videos. But I mean, I don't know if
Jake Paul you know what his philosophy is.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
I can't think of anyone in the world I want
to get punched in the face by less than Mike Tyson,
even at fifty seven. Even I don't want that dude
punching me at all ever, not even in the arm,
not even in the shoulder.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
I don't want to feel that it's rare when you
see a fighter.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
And I got to be careful by saying, you know, scared,
but you could see fear. I did see fear in
Joe Fraser's son's eyes and Michael Spinks, so Marvis Fraser
when Mike comes into the ring, and I wasn't looking
at Mike. I was looking at Michael Spinks and Marvis Fraser,

(30:55):
and rightfully so, because they were they were there was fear.
I don't want to say there's scared, but that's one
of those where you're like, yeah, i'll fight Tyson. Man,
I'm gonna make a lot of money, and then you
all of a sudden realize you're in the ring and
here comes Mike. He's got that cutoff sweatshirt. There's no
fanfare whatever. It's like he left the car running outside.

(31:16):
I'm gonna kick your ass and then I'm gonna go
outside and then I'm gonna go have some fun. And
that's pretty much what happened in those fights.

Speaker 8 (31:23):
Yes, Martin, now you just added old man strength to
Mike Tyson.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Also, okay, I don't know if that translates old man's
strength to a fifty seven year old fighter.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Here, Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
We've talked about this before, but sometimes if you're at
a certain age and you didn't see an athlete in
their prime, the persona around Mike Tyson in the mid
eighties is hard to recapture and explain to someone.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Okay, Bo Jackson and Mike Tyson similar.

Speaker 7 (31:51):
Bo was more was just a great athlete, clearly, but
the marketing around him and Nike Tyson didn't need much
marketing when he started. Remember he was fighting every three
or four weeks that eighty four eighty five, and it
was like nothing we'd ever seen before. And like you said,
he walked in the ring with a towel on with
a hole in it, and.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yeah, he was he was taking no prisoners.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
And he'd always talk about driving your nose up into
your brain.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
He'd be talking, I mean he was.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
And then to see him when he was at custom
Otto's house, he was staying there. Cuss had passed away
as longtime trainer, and he's got these pigeons. So you
have this guy who wants to go in there and
kill you in the ring, and then he would be
there with his pigeons, and just by this docile guy,
just you know, I got my pigeons here and meanwhile

(32:43):
you see him in the ring and you're like, oh God, yes,
I think he told.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
Us a story once that someone like killed his pigeon
as a kid, and then he just like destroyed this
guy in front of everybody's some bully.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
Let's take a break here, we got our play of
the day. We'll update our Pole results Chris collins Worth
a little bit later on today we'll talk about the NBA.
Greg McElroy, former Alabama quarterback working for the mother Ship,
get his thoughts on the best and worst case scenario
for the playoffs this year.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
We'll talk about that coming up back after this.

Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Thanks God, Buddy Hell from Timetown.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Time out Sulfox. The Warriors go up seven.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
That's courtesy of the mother Ship and Buddy Heel has
made thirty three pointers off the bench this season.

(34:20):
games Florida Atlantic versus East Caroline.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Oh do they do e Caroline?

Speaker 7 (34:32):
If they don't, you just came up with something they
have to do that checking.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Yeah, I would think so, yeah, yeah, But I have
app State versus Coastal Carolina.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Coastal Carola. No, it's not saying.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
And by the way, they're not on the coast, but
adjacent to East Carolina is East in North Carolina, East Carola.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
These Pirates sure.

Speaker 6 (35:04):
Are very good, so good, so good, so good.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Keyball throw judged birth of.

Speaker 6 (35:17):
Going for the first time as well, running the ball.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
And then you pass it.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Over there, work shopping big the field goal through so through,
so through.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
How about a quick NBA quiz, Paulie.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
Stretch out Carolina bit out a little more. Yeah, here
it is Dan quick and you're a hustler.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Paul's hustling right now. I am hustling. Do you hear
that hustle?

Speaker 7 (35:50):
Yeah, those are my shoes. I'm hustling as an actual shoe.
Sound all right, Dan, it's early. We're ten percent into
the NBA season. But who moom is the NBA leader
in three point attempts per game?

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Player?

Speaker 7 (36:06):
Not team, unless you want a guess team.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
I'm gonna guess both. But I'm gonna go last. Okay,
seat O'Connor junior, the third.

Speaker 6 (36:15):
I'm gonna guess Karl Anthony Towns.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Okay, h well, ga shooting man of all the time.
He has reinvented the game.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Okay, so most attempts per game, Marvin, I'm gonna go
to you.

Speaker 8 (36:27):
Peyton Pritchard.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
That would be my guests as well.

Speaker 7 (36:30):
Peyton is ninth with nine point four attempts per game.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
But he does lead the NBA in made threes.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
No, I do not think so.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
I thought he had thirty five. Buddy Heald has thirty.

Speaker 7 (36:48):
Anthony Edwards and Buddy Heald are up there for makes.
They have thirty. Yeah, I guess Brian Pritchard has thirty five.
The best shooting percentage is what healed at over fifty percent.
No one else is above.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
I'm just talking about made threes.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Check, and I think it's Peyton Pritchard checking with thirty
five Buddy healed his thirty Peyton Pritchard, former Oregon duck.
You can't leave him alone. Marvin sneaky shooter, who's attempted
the most threes.

Speaker 7 (37:26):
Uhre's here's a hint. It's a team that you'd probably
watch play. And here's a guy who's probably more known
for his passing than scoring, at least early.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
In his career. Okay, passing an.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
All purpose player, not necessarily Okay, he's young, and you
like him a lot.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Alonzo ball, Lamello ball.

Speaker 7 (37:51):
Lamello ball is averaging eleven point eight threes. Okay attempted
per game and he's hitting forty percent.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Yeah, yeah, I still go back.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
I think he was a freshman in high school playing
in a state championship game jacking.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Threes, and I'm going, oh my god, terrible.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Now he was still I saw and I said he'll
be the best out of the group with the brothers.
But there was no discipline whatsoever. Fire in threes and
not making them either. They'd be like ah, I bet
we get inside. It seems like a random thought to
some of these players, high school players.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I bet you take it inside. Why would I do that?
I don't know, get a basket, get to the free
throw line.

Speaker 8 (38:36):
Yes, Mart, that's like the kid from Creighton last night.
He had forty nine points.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Yeah, like, huh.

Speaker 8 (38:41):
They do it inside to a post guy and he's
the focal point of their offense.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Who knew that's what? Kalk Brenner. Yeah, that's his last name.
By the way, he was twenty of twenty two from
the floor and had forty nine points. Dang, you don't
find too many guys is getting forty nine points? I think,

(39:05):
Oh man, wasn't there a guy from Arkansas? His last
name was Clark. Oh, I don't. This has to be
a decade, this has to be fifteen years ago. And
he had he had fifty against Alcorn State like opening
night or first week. And I don't know why I
remember him. Last name was Clark at Arkansas, Yes.

Speaker 8 (39:29):
Time, Rottney or Rotteney Clark, that's what I'm Rotteney.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Okay, Yeah, But did he have fifty fifty fifty one
fifty one against Alcorn State? Yeah, I don't know why
I remember that. I don't think I was watching that game,
but there is a chance I could have been watching
that game. I was watching Sacred Heart as they were
fighting mightily against.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Yukon last night. KON covered by half a point. Yeah,
in that it's crazy.

Speaker 7 (39:56):
The line was thirty five and a half and they
won by thirty six.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
That is crazy. It's unbelievable. I don't get that.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
I don't either, but damn they are really good at
what they do. Not Sacred Heart, by the way, first
half cover. Yeah, saying the bookies are really good what
they do. Arkansas played last night. John Caliperi made his
season debut. Fritzi has a problem with the Arkansas. We'll

(40:26):
address that coming up in a couple of years. Okay,
thank you, Tod. All right, our one is in the
books on this Thursday.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
That was fun. That was easy.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Great answer from Jamar Chase, the Bengals wide receiver, about
going to class at LSU. Have that for you coming up.
It's the Bengals Ravens coming up tonight. Chris Collinsworth a
little bit later on as well, Thursday Night Football.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Our two on the way
