(00:23):
bit later on as well. And the perils of playing Oakmont,
although if you're going to score at Oakmont, you have
to do it today because the conditions are perfect for
that and you're probably going to see some decent scores
by the end of the day. After that, all bets
are off, But we'll talk to Ernie about playing there.

(00:44):
You have Game four tonight Panthers and the Oilers, as
we have a must win in Game four for the Oilers.

looking for an analogy, a comparison outside of sports with
the NBA Finals. And if you've ever gone to a
movie and you come home and all of a sudden

(01:49):
you say, this movie was great, and then all of
a sudden, it's who was in it?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Hm?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
This guy? Remember this guy? And he would hmm, okay,
you know what, let me google it and then I'll
tell you who this is. Like the usual suspects, there
are no real stars in there at the time, like
Gabriel Byrne, Kevin Spacey. They were all good actors and
then all of a sudden, going, man, this movie it

(02:17):
was wild. It was really good. Who's in it? Oh,
that guy and maybe that guy me, you know, one
of the Baldwin brothers. I'm not sure which one. It's like,
it's not Steve, I don't know, maybe it's Steven, it's
not Alc Kevin Pollack. You remember, so you had that,
you kind of have that with the NBA Finals, and

(02:39):
maybe have that with the Indiana Pacers. You're like, they're
really good, but who do they have? Wellmember, the guy
who won a title in Toronto, and remember the guy
who was in Sacramento, and they got this guy was
like the ninth pick overall. And you know, their coach.
He looks a lot like Jim Carrey, but he's bald,

(03:01):
like you know, all of this stuff where you're going, yeah, yeah, okay,
you know. And then the other team has a guy
who played at Gonzaga, Like he's a seven foot guy
who's got a good handle. And then they got a
guy who's got hyphen in his name and he's the MVP. Huh.
That's the feeling you kind of get. And it's been fun,

(03:22):
been exciting. And what you saw last night with Indiana
was that was a team that appeared to be in
better shape than OKC. And if you watch Brian Winhors
brought this up this morning on the mother Ship, there's
like eight minutes to go there at the free throw line,
and you could see the Pacers are standing up and

(03:43):
Okasee is kind of holding onto their shorts and that
is a tired team. But the Pacers will do that
to you. They're scoring and if they get I think
there's a stat when they get over one hundred and
eleven points, maybe it's one fourteen, they win. They win
every time, and they are controlling the pace. They are

(04:03):
the Pacers, and they've done a really good job with
that so far. And OKAC has lost all four all
of the fourth quarters, all three fourth quarters so far.
And you saw that last night Indiana. The difference was
the fourth quarter. Pacers aren't going away. They don't know better.
But OKAC is still a great team. But this game

(04:26):
on Friday night, that's your series. Because if Indiana goes
up three games to one now all of a sudden,
can you win three games in a row? Yes, they
can because it goes back to what I said when
this series started. Indiana has no chance. Oh you got
everybody picking maybe if not four five games jay Z

(04:48):
bet a million dollars. Okac was gonna win in five whoops,
And now here we are Pacers up two games to one.
Now the momentum is the next the game. You know,
we react overreaction. Fritzy all of a sudden goes I
think Indiana's going to win and he had okay, see
winning in what six games or five games to start

(05:10):
the series. Yep, let's just slow down. I have the
Pacers in six let's see maybe, But okayc is going
to come back, and this is the chess match that
you have. Rick Carlisle is a great coach. And then
you start to wonder, okay, if I'm okay, see what
do I think they're going to do next time? And

(05:30):
I'm thinking, you don't have to do anything. How about
you just continue to do what you're doing and then
see what they do. And as far as reacting, I
don't want to react because I think they're going to
react or counter their reaction. It's like, all right, let
me see if you can beat us this way. It's
going to be multiple guys going to SGA and we're

(05:52):
going to pick them up full court. We're going to
tire them out and hopefully we're going to be holding
on for the first three quarters and then you get
to the fourth quarter and then we're going to take over.
And the bench was so important. We've talked about this
many many times with different teams. What kind of depth
do you have and when you go to them, what

(06:14):
are you getting? Here is Rick Carlisle talking about his bench.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
TJ just brought a will, competitive will to the game.
You know, Matthron jumped in there and immediately was aggressive
and got the ball in the basket. And you know, look,
this is the kind of team that we are. We
need everybody to be ready. It's not always going to
be exactly the same guys that are stepping up with
scoring and stuff like that. But this is how we

(06:39):
got to do it, and we got to do it
as a team, and you know, we got to make
it as hard as possible on them.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
You can go to your bench. You just want to
make sure that your bench is ready to go. It's
like the Knicks. Hey, you're going to go to your bench,
Well I can, but what are you getting when you
go there? And okay, see has depth as well. You know,
these are very balanced teams. But you saw last night
a bench that was ready to go, and the energy
that playing in your building was certainly there. Yeah, the

(07:10):
Thunder seemed to be in a much different spot than
the Pacers because the Piacers when they look at their
defensive plan, they're like, how do we stop Sga? The
Thunder are like, how do we stop all those guys
on the bench? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:22):
How do we stop all this the surge coming from
the bench every game that's just wiping us out?

Speaker 1 (07:26):
How do we stop all of those guys? And Mattherin
it feels like has one game a series. Nie Smith
has one game each series. Namhard has one game. That's
what you need. You need to have that guy where
you go. Man, he just went off, you know Siakam
when he went off for what thirty eight in a game.
You just need to have that guy or guys. TJ

(07:49):
McConnell was wonderful last night, just forcing turnovers, steals, turning
him into points. You need a guy to have a game. Yeah,
and it's not a guy that you expect, because that's
where you go. We did a pretty good job on everybody,
but not that guy. And Indiana has been sharing the
wealth so far and that's a big win. Last night,

(08:12):
but Friday, Friday's the season for OKC, And once again
we came into the NBA Finals and everybody said they're
one of the biggest favorites in the last twenty five years.
In fact, only one other team was a bigger favorite,
and that was Golden State and that was about a
decade ago. But other than that, it was OKC sixty

(08:33):
eight wins, eighty wins total coming into the NBA Finals.
And you know, you had a situation in the Eastern
Conference Finals where Tom Thibodau might have gotten fired or
in part because they lost to the Pacers. Well, the
Pacers are up two games to one to OKC. And
by the way, with the Knicks, I don't know what

(08:53):
they're playing bcde f is and maybe i'd give them
an F right now for their plan B, C, D
and E. But you guys are zero for six from
the floor so far, I think. And maybe you wanted
to get rid of Tom, like we know that we
don't want that coach, but we're trying to find somebody

(09:16):
that we can get to coach the team right now.
And they're asking for permission and they're being denied, and
you know, Brian Windhors talked about this that you know,
it's part of negotiations. Maybe maybe Dallas is saying, we
want a first round pick, and until then, we're not
going to give you permission to talk to Jason Kidd,

(09:36):
and maybe the Knicks will go, okay, we'll give you
a first round pick and then it's over with. But
in the meantime, when all of a sudden, you go,
you know, maybe Mike Woodson might be a head coaching candidate,
like haven't we done this before? Or Mark Jackson he helped
build Golden State. Okay, doesn't feel like like the plan

(09:59):
was to get rid of a coach. The plan was
who is there is no plan? Who is going to
be our coach? That's the feeling. So all that goodwill
you built up, What a great story, This is fun,
This is excitement. Now the NBA is better. When the
Knicks are in contention, we're going to the Eastern Conference finals,
and then all of a sudden, it's like, yeah, it

(10:21):
was good year, but uh, we're going to fire our
head coach and uh, well, who do you got who's coming?
I mean you must know, is Michael Malone coming in?
And then all of a sudden he's not and go, Okay,
I'm surprised at that. I thought it was one of those.
All Right, we're going to replace TIBs. We bring in
Michael Malone. We're good, We're even better because he's won

(10:43):
a championship before. All Right, uh, US Open getting underway today.
We'll keep an eye on that. The NBA Finals. Mike
Breen will join us a little bit later on as well. Seaton,
what's the poll question from the first hour of this program, Well, we.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Might as well start with who's winning the NBA Finals now, Pacers, Thunder, mmmmm.
I think a lot of us had the Thunder winning.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Yeah, a lot. I think a lot of people had
Thunder winning. Oh yeah, that would make them the biggest
favorites that we've had in twenty five years. Yeah. The
betting odds right now, the Thunder is still favored to
win minus two twenty. It was minus five to twenty
five yesterday. Pacers are plus one eighty five to win
the title. It was plus four hundred yesterday. And the

(11:29):
NBA Finals correct series score right now, the favorite is
Thunder to win in seven and then the second favorite,
Thunder to win in six. Then it's the Pacers to
win in six as well eight seven to seven. Three
DP show any other poll questions that we're considering today.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
This is a really interesting one from Paul. I don't
know if it's necessarily a poll question, but it's a
great topic that maybe we could make a poll question
out of it. But the best movie with no stars
at the time m at the time.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Okay, Marvin the forty ye old Virgin, Steve corell was
not a star.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
Seth Rogan was not a star. The movie came out
in two thousand and five. They were not stars back then.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Steve Correll wasn't it the Office?

Speaker 6 (12:17):
It was Hey, the guy from the Office. You didn't
know who Steve Correll was.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Paul Rudd was in there, the.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
Guy from Clueless. It was a lot of the guy
from Blank.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Okay, these are all massive successes though that you're it's
like saying, like Harrison Ford, Yeah, you know that guy
from Star Wars.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
That's all anybody knows.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
It's like, oh, no, no, no, But I'm saying, okay, I'm saying,
at the time the time, it wasn't Steve Correll. I
know Steve corell is. It was the guy from Blank. Okay,
Paul Rudd was the guy from Blank.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
Okay, yes, Paul, I'm going to co sign with Marvin
on that. Here are a few more movies with no
stars at the time.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Wait a minute, why don't we take a break. Okay,
we'll come back with this. I like this topic here,
so Operator Tyler sitting by, he'll take your phone calls.
We'll settle on our poll question here and just getting
started on this Thursday. Glad to have you with us,
Dan Patrick show back after this.

Speaker 11 (14:19):
More.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
The odds have certainly shifted. Prior to Game one, OKC
favored to win in five games, and then the second
favorite was to win in four, then to win in six,
and then to win in seven, and then the next
bet would have been the Pacers to win in six.
That's plus fourteen hundred. The thunder right now are still

(14:41):
favored to win in seven with plus one seventy, win
in six plus two hundred, and then the Pacers to
win in six plus five hundred. We also stumbled upon
this that the NBA Finals, and I don't know how
many Hall of Famers We're going to have out of this.
And I'm curious if we can have research look at

(15:01):
NBA finals with the fewest Hall of Famers as we
go back in history, which NBA Finals had the fewest
Hall of Famers. The first series that came up was
the Baltimore Bullets against Golden State. You had Rick Berry
and then a bunch of role players. So Rick is

(15:23):
one of the great scorers of all time Hall of Famer.
The Bullets I think had Wes Unselled. I don't think
Bobby Dandridge is in the Hall of Fame. I think
Phil Scheer was on that team, not a Hall of Famer.
Wes Unseld was Hall of Famer. You might have had
two Hall of famers in that. I'd have to do

(15:43):
a closer look. Yeah, see their rockets magic, Well, you
had shack a Keeam was Clyde Clyde Drexler in that?
You might have had three. Yeah, yeah, I don't think

(16:05):
Horace Grant not a Hall of Famer. Nick Anderson not
a Hall of Famer. No, no, yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
Paul two thousand and seven, the Cavaliers versus Spurs. I
know the Spurs had a couple Hall of Famers.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Well, they had at least three, at least they Well
you had Tim and David, and you had Manhu and
Tony Parker.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
But the other side of that, I'm pretty sure Lebron
was the only Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yes, yeah, but that would have been five. I think
it's going to have to be three or less for
the fewest Hall of Famers. And if you're looking at this,
are any of these guys on the Pacers going to
be Hall of Famers? If Tyree's Halliburton wins the NBA
Finals and Finals MVP, Okay, that's a great head start.

(16:51):
SGA winning the MVP. If he would be the finals MVP,
led the league in scoring, you think he's a Hall
of Famer already.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
For the Nate Smith Basketball Hall of Fame. You won
an MVP award, you are going to the Hall of Fame.
There's nobody that's ever won the MVP that's eligible.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
That's not it.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Okay, all right, kind of yelling at me there, You
did feel like you were yelling forgive me d okay,
all right, fair enough, I got feelings too.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Okay, any anybody that's ever won the MVP, Okay, I
can go.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Derek Rose, by the way, Lebron James on his Mind
the Game podcast talked about the thunder Pacers matchup.

Speaker 12 (17:32):
We praise a lot of individuals, and rightfully so. We
have unbelievable individuals in our sport over the years have
done great things and have put themselves in position to
be talked about.

Speaker 5 (17:41):
I get it.

Speaker 12 (17:42):
But one thing we cannot disrespect is great teams. You know,
we have this Indiana OKC situation, and these are two
great teams. And if you are a basketball fan and
you really love our game, and you can learn so
much from watching the way those both of those teams play.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Okay, for me, I love watching it. But for the
casual fan, you know, the drive by fan, they're not
going to be tuning into this. I mean you can say, esthetically, boy,
this is great basketball, and it is, but that doesn't
mean you do need star power to get a bigger number.

(18:20):
I don't care about the ratings. I couldn't care less
about the ratings even the show that I do. I
just do the show, whether you consume it or not,
or how long you're listening or watching. I can only
do so much. And the same with these players. You know,
they're not all of a sudden going to be box
office superstars. They can build into that, but you do

(18:43):
need star power if you want to get people who
are curious about Hey, I want to watch that guy?

Speaker 7 (18:49):
Yeah, Pauling, typical Lebron making it about himself, typical hijacking
the series with his comments. Someone's going to.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Say that, all right, movie best movies without stars in it?
We brought up. I made the comparison. It's kind of
like the uh Usual Suspects that we didn't know a
lot of these people who were in that movie. It
turned out to be a great movie. And maybe that's
how we can look at the NBA finals and it

(19:18):
would be the Unusual Suspects. Though, I think, okay, all right,
I'm off, I'm Todd, don't be afraid to bloop me
and we're twenty six minutes in.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
I'm not gonna give it to your.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Just well, you got to listen to the show and
then maybe you would have blooped it. Okay, half a
blue all right, so best movie without a star, PAULI,
whit's the list.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
I got a list, A bunch of eighties, nineties and today.
How about Dazed and Confused McConaughey's first ever time in
front of a camera. There's not a lot of breakout stars.
Parker Posey's in it.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
She's a great movie.

Speaker 7 (19:53):
A lot of people love that movie, including myself. Daised
and Confused.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
That's a pretty great movie.

Speaker 7 (19:57):
Yet, Richard link Letter Seaton is a direct I think
that was a no stars movie and has a lot
of likes. You like this one, Dan Napoleon Dynamite.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Well do whatever you're like.

Speaker 7 (20:10):
That's as nobody says they can get.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
No stars in it? Then no stars in it?

Speaker 13 (20:13):
Now?

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Wow? Wait, wait, Kip didn't turn out to be a
big star. How about Fast Times at Ridgemont? Huh, great call?
How about Fast Times It?

Speaker 7 (20:26):
Phoebe Kate's not that famous, Jennifer's Jason Lee went on
to a great career. Anthony Edwards is in it, Eric
Stoltz is in it. Okay, Young Sean Penn who.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Is star ish?

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Okay, that's a great call, all right?

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Who else?

Speaker 7 (20:40):
This is a niche one? Clerks. It was an independent film.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
That blew up.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Great movie.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
I don't know if you could judge it great as much.
So has had a huge reach when it came out,
and they were true nobody's.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
I think we're throwing out great. I would put Clerks
in there as great.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
I mean, well, I think the budget for it was
like thirty thousand dollars or something like that, and they
made the movie on credit cards and it you still
talk about it today. I mean, I would say that
was a great movie.

Speaker 7 (21:15):
How about this one, the Blair Witch Project, big at
the time.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Probably number one on that list, I bet, because I
don't even know who was in that movie other than
a camera. No sequel either, yeah there was, yeah, oh
we want to ignore that sequel.

Speaker 7 (21:32):
All right, here's a couple that are more biggies. How
about Train Spotting with Ewan McGregor. Fun He was a nobody. Yeah,
very popular movie. This is one of my favorites, the
Commitments about the Irish singing group and it was filmed
in Ireland. Obviously that movie was great movie. Oh it's
in my top ten.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Yeah, but that doesn't mean you know what you're talking.
You do like some movies that I would question and
is being great.

Speaker 7 (22:02):
Nietzsch Here's one that you can't argue with. It's great
Cinema American Pie.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Yeah, just great movie. Eugene Levy would have been. Yeah,
the one star in.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
There, Jason Biggs, Sean Williams, Scotty no stars, right.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Jennifer Coolidge.

Speaker 7 (22:21):
That made her.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
She was Stiffler's mom.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
She has acted just like that her entire career. What
do you a bunch of horny young boys.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
Want to run though?

Speaker 8 (22:32):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, wire to wire? I mean that's everything that she does.
She plays Stiffler's mom kind of confused a little bit.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
How about you a pie?

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Dumb ass?

Speaker 7 (22:43):
That's not bad for it?

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Uh? Who else?

Speaker 7 (22:45):
This is the last one off my list. Risky Business
with Tom Cruise came out in eighty three. Tom Cruise
had done Taps and The Outsiders and he was not
a star in either.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Outsiders could be a movie you throw in there, Yeah,
I don't. I mean there's a lot of stars in it,
but I don't know if they were stars already.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
You're right, Patrick Sweeze or well, Matt Dillon was the star.
Matt Dylan like he was the big heart throw back then,
but that.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
Was an ensemble of breakout stars. But Risky Business that
was his fourth movie, Tom Cruise, and then he went
two years later. He's in Top Gun, Color, Money, Cocktail,
and rain.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Man Gez and Rebecca D. Mornay was not superstar super
in my.

Speaker 7 (23:27):
Books, he was a SuperStar's gracious one scene?

Speaker 1 (23:32):
How okay? Halloween? Yes, Janie Lee Curtis wasn't known. No,
we didn't know Freddy Krueger, well, not Freddy Krueger. What
was Michael? However?

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Nightmare on Elm Street also, I think you got to
take any slasher movies really, and there's usually low budget.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
The first Nightmare on Elm Street, I think Johnny Depp
was the neighbor gets killed.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
I haven't seen the movie.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Sorry, if you watch that movie now, it looks like
a high school student did it.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yes, there's a lot of those, even the first Star
Wars if you watch that, which I haven't watched it
all the way through. But and nobody's famous in that.
In Star Wars, Kerrie Fisher would have been star ish,
but Mark Hamill was in a star. Harrison Ford wasn't

(24:27):
a star.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
Great topic.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Yeah, absolutely, Matt in Chicago, what do you have for me?

Speaker 14 (24:34):
Matt Hey Dan first time caller five ten a husky,
two hundred and twenty pounds, all right, great, great pull
with the poll question today. I was calling into, say,
Napoleon Dynamite, that's one of our all time favorite movies.
You can't stack tater top.

Speaker 15 (24:53):
You can't get tater tops without stacking them. Another suggestion,
how about Wet Hot American Summer. You've got a young
Paul Rodd, a young Amy Poehler, a young Elizabeth Banks,
and probably forgetting a bunch of stars to mention. But
look how many stars from that movie have gone on
to successful careers?

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Right? Was Kevin Costner in that movie as well? No?

Speaker 7 (25:14):
I don't think. I think Bradley Cooper was in.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
That most Bradley Cooper Okay, I think uh, apple Seed
in Michigan, High apple Seed? Good morning, Dan, how you
doing great? Great?

Speaker 11 (25:28):
The choices are driving me that there is only one choice.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
American Graffiti, Okay, Harrison Ford in American Was that his
first movie?

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah? I think he went from American Graffiti to Star Wars.
Actually I believe so.

Speaker 7 (25:43):
Yeah, American Graffiti was nineteen seventy three. Ron Howard, now
he was famous, but he was a child star and
it was his first grown up role. Richard Dreyfus, Cindy Williams.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Well Ron Howard was also famous for happy days. Yes,
so he was huge bo.

Speaker 16 (26:00):
Yeah, who said, Uh, let's see Randy in Chicago.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Hi, Randy, what's on your mind?

Speaker 11 (26:15):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Dan?

Speaker 13 (26:16):
First time, long time five nine to one fifty. Yes, sirsdayan, Yes, theirs.
I'm a lifelong Pacers fan from Indiana. Grew up in Indiana.
I went to the finals game in two thousand. I
mean that team was stacked.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
You know.

Speaker 13 (26:36):
I really think this team it's their time. I think
Carlisle and his experience is going to win out. And
I was also just that how cool it was that
Reggie was wearing uh Mark Jackson jersey last night. I
was just thinking about him and maybe the hull. Very good.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
You guys have a good day, all right, Thank you, Randy,
good luck, good bye. Let's see Craig and Fort Wayne. Hi, Craig,
good morning, guys. How you doing good?

Speaker 11 (27:08):
So on summer breaks teaching Maks So glad to.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Talk to you.

Speaker 11 (27:13):
If you're the NBA commissioner, Dan, and you had your
choice between the Knicks versus Jokic, mid market versus multiple MVP,
or the current series where you might see emerging NBA
stars for the face of your league. Which do you
prefer behind closed doors? What do you prefer the Knicks

(27:34):
against the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
I mean, I got New York, I got that market,
and I got Joker in there. Yeah. Yeah, But once again,
I'm watching whoever is out there playing. It doesn't matter
to me. You're talking to somebody who watches Orlando Magic
basketball during the regular season, or Sacramento during the regular season,
Charlotte during the regular season. I'm okay, yes, Mark.

Speaker 6 (28:00):
And this is the series for people that complain so
much about the NBA. All all they do is iso
high screening role and all they do is jack up threes.
This is the series you would want to watch if
you're a quote unquote a true basketball fan.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Also, oh yeah, the Stars get you know, preferential treatment.
You know, the NBA wants the Stars to be in there. Okay, Oh,
it's fixed on.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
This is hurting the NBA. Great crowd, the conspiracy theorist, tough.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Day, Andrew and Washington, Hi Andrew, good morning, Dan.

Speaker 17 (28:33):
Denned's thanks for taking my call. I got a couple
of movies for you, and also a stat of the
day with the Pacers.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
A couple of movies.

Speaker 17 (28:40):
No stars, but maybe great movies two thousand and two
My Big Back Greek Wedding and two thousand and eight
slum Dog Millionaire. My Pacers stat of the day is
that when Tyrese Halliburton scores at least twenty points and
this is out ten or more assists in the playoff game,
the Pacers are now twenty and one. Have a great week, guys,

(29:01):
All right, thank you n Roger by Panini America. Some
Dog Millionaire came out of nowhere. You're like, man, have
you heard about this? And then you watch it and
you're like, damn pulled it off. Good stuff. Let's see

(29:26):
Paul and Iowa. Hi, Paul, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 13 (29:30):
Hey Dan?

Speaker 18 (29:30):
It just got two movies to add to the list.
After giving a shout out to the Iowa state point
Guard dominating the NBA finals right now, Great look for
tyres Haliburton doing the state well. But two movies. First up,
nineteen seventy nine, where horror met sci fi Alien put
Sigourney Weaver on the map. No stars in that going

(29:50):
into the theater to see for that movie. Second one,
twenty twelve Oscar winner Best Picture. I bet nobody can
name an actor from the artist.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Okay, Well that didn't mean it was a great movie.
I mean you can win the Academy Award and you're like, uh, okay,
who knows what the Academy? You know when they debut. Yeah,
blockbusters never win. It feels like it's always that the pianist,

(30:22):
the brutalist, and you know, there's although, let's see what
was the what was the Roberto Benini Life is Beautiful,
Life is Beautiful. No stars in that, But that was
a great movie, great performance by him, and he ended
up winning the Academy Award.

Speaker 7 (30:42):
Yes, highest grossing movie to win Best Picture. Off the
top of your head, what do you guys think something
that both crushed at the box office and won the award?

Speaker 1 (30:54):
There you go, Marvin Jaws, I have Schindler's list names Jaws,
Joy Rocky.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
Oh yeah, yeah, those are all good guesses of h Titanic.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Titanic is correct. Some of the others. Uh, but all
the ones you guessed are top ten.

Speaker 19 (31:22):
The heart must go on here?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Did it? That really needs to? Really?

Speaker 7 (31:27):
Lord of the Rings? Did they win it?

Speaker 1 (31:30):
I don't think so.

Speaker 7 (31:31):
My list says they did.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
They won for Best Movie.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Oppenheimer did very well at the box office and at the.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Wards Forrest Gump might be up there.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
Forrest Gump is up there.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
It's a top tenor, right, Adrian, Adrian and Tulsa. Adrian,
what do you have.

Speaker 13 (31:49):
For good morning?

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Guys? Is Adrian first time long time fab eight won
sixty five. I was just I was just wanting to
comment on the movies with you know, not a a
lot of not not a lot of known stars. I
want to throw super Bad in there. Had Young mcglove
and a Seth Rogan. I mean yeah, Seth Rogan too.

(32:12):
But Michael Sarah, my guy, Michael Sayah. I don't think
a lot of those guys were Jonah Hill, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Emma Stone was in the Bill Hayter was in the Yeah.
You kind of had embryonic you know, careers, the embryonic
stages there of becoming somebody something. Yes, Tom I found Adrian.

Speaker 19 (32:35):
And Tulsa to be fascinating because Adrian was in Rocky
and Sylvestist alone is now the Tulsa King.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
So this that was kind of interesting.

Speaker 19 (32:41):
Adrian and Tulsa got two little references to uh still
lone there.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
They're not fascinated, but.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Not too much, just.

Speaker 19 (32:48):
Kind of caught my either what I said, the name
pop up on the screen, Tulsa King.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
And no, no, no, I got it. I got it
once again. An you will go to Tulsa. If you
have to explain it more than one.

Speaker 19 (32:59):
It's probably they're not worth mentioning.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
I haven't seen the stallone Tulsa. Very good series, well
I know that. But you love Sylvester Stone except for
the one where he.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
Was on wrestling somebody I don't know about over the Top,
over the time, I could do.

Speaker 7 (33:12):
That's the best arm wrestling movie of all time by far?

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Was he in what was it? Cliffhanger too? That's the
best cliffhanger movie? A mountain climbing, mountain.

Speaker 7 (33:27):
Checking. How about this lowest grossing movie in the past
thirty years to win Best Picture? Lowess grossing, very good movie,
very popular, not a big time star in it as well.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Wait, it was a popular movie that didn't make money.

Speaker 7 (33:42):
I thought, I'm surprised it seemed to get a lot
of play parasite The hurt Locker only made forty nine
million but won the awards.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Okay, good flick. Yeah, Jeremy Runner was great and then
crushed it. Yeah, but was he a star?

Speaker 7 (33:59):
Not at the time.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Uh yeah, yes, Mark.

Speaker 5 (34:04):
Yeah, because we're going stars when the movie was released, right.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yes, okay, yes, yes, yes yes. Did anybody know Jeremy Renner?
He wasn't well known. Okay, let's take a break. I
think we dominate. Come on Culture and then Todd throwing
in the stallone yo, Adrian Silsea King. We're gonna edit

(34:29):
that out. We'll probably stop the segment right before that.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
Not very nice.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
All right, Play of the Day is up next.

Speaker 8 (34:36):

Patrick Show weekdays at nine a m. Eastern six a m.

Speaker 10 (34:52):
This is the play of the day.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
Check this out.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
The pitch drive the left center field. So Noah going
back to the.

Speaker 20 (35:01):
Track, looking up and it is God. The it is
Andrew McCutcheon a third place all by himself only stargland
Kiner ahead of Andrew McCutcheon on the all time Pirates
home run list.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
All right, Marvin, you stay on the Andrew McCutchen bandwagon.

fewest Hall of Famers to play in an NBA Finals matchup?

Speaker 19 (35:57):
Yep, I just sent something your way, and there's some
interesting was here. It's not including any NBA Finals since
twenty fifteen, all of them except twenty twenty have none
at present, but guys like Curry and Lebron will certainly
get in. And it goes back to nineteen forty seven
Philadelphia Warrior slash Chicago Stags just had won.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Joe folks, Yeah, jumping Joe folks. But I would rather
do it modern history if you do it from let's
say nineteen seventy on. And a lot of these teams
had great players. Because you could keep your players, you
weren't losing them, you know, go back and look at
the Celtics. Just about everybody who was on those teams
went to the Hall of Fame. The Lakers had a

(36:35):
few Hall of famers as well when they matched up
with them. But yeah, i'd be curious with modern history
that Todd just sent it to me. Okay, so twenty twelve,
Well that's Bosh, Wade and Lebron. The Thunder didn't have
any Hall of Famers.

Speaker 5 (36:56):
Well, they're all still playing in twenty twelve.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Oh yeah, all three? Oh yeah, guys, yeah, okay, you're right.

Speaker 5 (37:05):
Six.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, So this is this is a little confusing here
because nineteen ninety nine Spurs Nicks, Duncan and Robinson. Uh
Ewing didn't play in the finals, but he's a Hall
of Famer. Nineteen ninety four Rockets Nicks, Akeem and Patrick Ewing. Wow,
then you have nineteen forty nine nineteen four, and I

(37:27):
don't care about that, the O nine Magic Lakers Dwight Howard,
Kobe and Paugas saw Oh seven Spurs, Cabs, Tony Parker,
Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, Lebron will go into the Hall
of Fame. Ninety five Rockets in the Magic a Keem
Shack and Clyde Drexler. Yeah, so a lot of these

(37:48):
have three Hall of Famers. Nineteen seventy seven, Blazers seventy
six Ers, Doctor j George mcginnison, Bill Walton, Bulls, Blazers
ninety two, Drexler, Jordan and Pippen, Suns Bowls ninety three, Barkley,
Pippen and Jordan. So there's a few of them, but

(38:09):
it looks like a lot of them. It would be
at least three. You go back to the ninety four
Rockets Nicks, that was Saqem and Patrick Ewing. Yeah, Poem.

Speaker 7 (38:19):
If you look at that Spurs run, those guys are
all going to the Hall of Fame, I should say
not Jenoblei and Parker. They're going to the Hall of
Fame because of the Finals. They're not regular season Hall
of Famers. They're postseason Hall of Famers. They've had really,
really good careers, but so many appearances in the finals.
Put those guys in.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
The Hall of Fame. Ryan in Utah, Hi, Ryan, what's
on your mind?

Speaker 13 (38:43):
Hey?

Speaker 14 (38:43):
Dan?

Speaker 21 (38:43):
Happy Meet Friday Eve five to ten and a shameful.

Speaker 22 (38:48):
Two o five.

Speaker 21 (38:50):
Hey, just have a movie for you and maybe flip
the script on the Hall of Famers in the finals.
My movie is nineteen ninety three Jurassic Park. You got
gold Bloom, you got Newman, and of course you have
Sam Jackson, who, in my opinion, played the greatest Chainsmoker.
I still going around fast turned tell my kids hold

(39:12):
on to your butts. And as far as flipping the script,
what about NBA Finals, that's the most Hall of famers
nineteen ninety seven Utah Jazz versus the Chicago Bulls.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Hey, yeah, we can look at that. But the theme
is that there aren't star power. There isn't star power
in the NBA Finals. That's why we were looking at
the star power or lack thereof in previous NBA finals.
But thank you, Ryan, thank you for the phone call.
Brett and Florida. Hi, Brett, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 22 (39:41):
Good morning Dan and Dan Netts six foot in assaft
two forty. I got two things I wanted to say. First,
I always wanted to get on the show, and if
I ever did, I told my buddy I shout them out.
So the shout out to my buddy Eric Patterson here
in Florida. And uh today it's my birthday. I wanted
to get that out of way because I've been trying

(40:02):
to get on this show a long time and it
finally happened, and I'm glad it happened on my day.
And as far as my two choices for movies without
star power, I'm taking Office Space and super Troopers.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Super Troopers, okay, office Space with Aniston? But had Anniston
been in Friends?

Speaker 7 (40:28):
Just in Friends? This is our first movie after hitting
with Friends?

Speaker 1 (40:32):
And was Ron Shelton the stars.

Speaker 7 (40:35):
Of Office Space? Ron Livingston? Ron living who was in Swingers?

Speaker 1 (40:39):
Okay? And who else was in Office? It was last
name Cole? Was it Gary Cary Cole?

Speaker 7 (40:47):
Awesome character?

Speaker 1 (40:47):
But he wasn't you know? He went a big time
star seat. Would you update the poll results from the
first down? Yeah, we got up a fairly standard one there.
Who do you like to win the finals?

Speaker 17 (41:00):
Now?

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Okay, your options are the Pacers, are Thunder? You recapt
those the Pacers and the Thunder. Okay, those are your options.
Who do you like winning the NBA Finals?

Speaker 1 (41:12):
Now? Fifty six percent have the Pacers. That's pretty close. Yeah, yeah,
well you know what I love. We have a series. Now,
this wasn't a gentleman's sweep. Now, if Okac's gonna win it,
they're gonna have to, you know, come up with three victories. Here.
They're gonna have to win in Indiana paces that prove

(41:34):
they can win on the road. One hour in the books,
two more to go. The guy who's on the call
last night, Mike Breen, will join us from Indiana eight
seven seven three DP. Show operator Tyler is sitting by.
It's fred Cie's Seaton. Marv, Paula, Yours truly, and the
back room guys
