You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
We did it. We made it to a Wednesday. It's
hour one. Morales Hi, come on in, stay awhile Reggie
Miller will join us, Ice Cube will stop by, and
the La Times columnist Bill Plashki, he's breathing fire over
the embarrassment that is the La Lakers, in his opinion,
missing out on Dan Hurley. Phone calls are welcome, Tyler

got a lot of Father's Day gifts there, including the
ultra hot Daddy Bathrobe. You can have your very own
bathrobe just like my wife got me that says Daddy
on it, just in time for Father's Day. While supplies
last say good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank
you for downloading the app and our radio affiliates around

(01:08):
the country. You got Celtics at the MAVs Game three
coming up tonight, that's at eight thirty Eastern. Not sure
if the Celtics are going to have Christops Porzingis. He
of course missed forty days with a calf injury and
he's got a mysterious, very rare injury, and he was

(01:29):
asked about his availability and the injury.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
If you die out there to play still apply.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Yeah, no, I'm living by those words.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
You literally will die on the cordio.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean, I hope not, but if it comes to
that to win, I guess Okay, he's willing to die
for the Celtics team.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Yeah, wait, are you literally willing to die?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well, that's what it takes. He's got a calf injury
and it's a long name. It's rare. It could be
like it's one of those that he could play tonight,
or it could be career threatening. It could be both.
A very rare injury that he has, but it's a
calf injury. Not sure if he's going to be able
to play tonight. The Mavericks are favored by two and

(02:16):
a half according to DraftKings.

Speaker 7 (02:18):
Guess, Paul, I think we did this question many years
ago when Kurt Shilling had the ankle injury and that
day he was scheduled to pitch with game six.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Does that sound right?

Speaker 7 (02:28):
Of the four alcs? I think so Chris is the Yankees,
and we asked, if you were Kurt Shilling could throw
a shut out to win the World Series and never
pitch again, we just sign up for it. And it
was an all day debate on our show. If your
Kristaps Porzingisen could drop like forty tonight, but die not
die career death. We'll go career death.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Oh where you this is the last game he plays? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Because this I guess it's a serious lower lego.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
I would think if you win the title, not you
win the third game, right, so.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
It has to be a serious clincher. Yes, I agree. Yes, Okay,
let's hypothetically say it was a series clincher. You could
drop fifty.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
No, no, no, because the Celtics have won titles before.
Chilling was helping the Red Sox, you know, beat a
curse that was decades old. This is different. I mean
the Celtics if okay, they don't need Porsingis to win,
but the Red Sox needed Chilling to pitch well in
that game.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
Yes, it's like RG three was trying to help his
team win. That didn't feel like do anything for him either.
It cost him his career.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, yeah, there's too much money at stake for these
guys that you're going to go out there and I'll
die on the floor for my team. It sounds good,
but I think once he you know, pulls up and
you know he can feel the injury, go sit down,
and I don't want him out there if you know
he's gonna hurt the team, hurt himself. You know, they

(03:54):
always say shoot it up. You know, hey, you got
an injury, shoot it up. It's not always that easy
having injuries. There's certain injuries you can shoot up, other
injuries that you can all right. Eight seven seven three

(04:14):
I believe he has a blister on one of his toes,
so he's not going to be able to play. The
US did officially announce the women's Olympic team. We talked
about that yesterday. And Joey Chestnut has been barred from
the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. We'll dive into that

(04:35):
deep story heavy story, important story. I will say it
was widely covered yesterday. Joey chesnutt who holds the all
time record major league it's mL major League eating. I
think they have their own league. But Joey Chestnut will
not be there on the fourth of July. And he

(04:56):
was the overwhelming favorite. I didn't know that he made
to undred thousand dollars. When you win that Nathan's Hot
Dog contest, and you know he travels the country, he'll
eat other things. I'll be like, come on in, Joey
Chestnut's going to have wings, see how many he can eat.
But I told Fritzy reach out to Joey Chestnut. Maybe
he can talk to us about this, this scandal, this controversy.

Speaker 8 (05:18):
Yes, Hunt, you're the owner of some all you can
Eat establishment. Here comes Joey. Oh god, oh god, yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I wonder if he goes in when you have those
specials all you can Eat and all you know that
what is it hometown buffet where he goes in there,
And I'm like, oh god, imagine if he went to
Red Lobster before Red Lobster went out of business. Hey,
all you can eat shrimp, Here comes Chestnut.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Joey training.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Wait, is this just a casual dinner you're having? Are
you really hungry tonight?

Speaker 9 (05:53):
Ask keep the shrimp coming.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I'll ask a question, thank you.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
I was in Italy years ago and we were staying
in this one town and we found this one restaurant
and we kept going to this one restaurant. There's a group,
there's twelve of us, something like that big group. And
we were like, ah, the Americans are here.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
You know.

Speaker 6 (06:07):
We made a big presence when we're walking through. And
like the third night that we tried to go to
this one restaurant, it was run by a mother and
her son. They were like no, no, no, no, no, no,
can't come in. They're like, we have no more food.
We have no more food. You can't like we had
cleaned them out the night before on food and wine.
No no, no, no, no, no, no, you can't come
in no more.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
This first hour brought to you by simply Safe. They've
been partners of ours for over a decade. We protect
our home, our family, our man cave. Get twenty percent
off any new simply Safe system. It's simply safedan dot com.
There's no safe like simply Safe. All right, Seeton pull
question for the first hour is going to.

Speaker 6 (06:45):
Be uh well, the lead story for sure, more important
dot dot dot Nathan's or Joey chestnut Oh, okay, it
was more important to the event, Dan, Joey Chestnut is
more important to the event. Wow, Yes, tiger versus the field?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yes, yes, yes, you tune in to see him because
he's the record holder.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
I mean he's the Is he the Caitlin Clark or
is that respectful? Let's let's not try to make everything
about Caitlin Clark. S he more of the lebron or
Prescott Coney Island is the cowboys of the Okay, here's
here's a question for you. The last time somebody other

(07:33):
than Joey Chestnutt won the hot dog eating contest it
was twenty fifteen.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Can you name the person who won? That's why Joey
Chesnutt is the most important person, not the Nathan's hot
Dog eating Contest. Matt Stoney was your winner in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 7 (07:53):
Was there an injury?

Speaker 2 (07:55):
I don't know, I'm not sure. Just says the last
time somebody other than Joey chestnut wine and uh even
the second I mean they have rankings here. Do you
know who the number two ranked eater is in the
Major League Eating.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
League.

Speaker 6 (08:14):
If you said Jeffrey Esper, you'd be right just gonna
say that Jeffrey Esper.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
Jesper is still around.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yeah, it's g offf by the way, Yeah goff Espery
or Esper yes time.

Speaker 9 (08:28):
I'm assuming they do.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
How close are like choking experts or people that can
during one of these contests come running in if someone
gets like a piece of hot dog or bun lodged
in their throw.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
I think they have to have somebody standing by. There's
paramedics or.

Speaker 8 (08:40):
Is there a small party saying that that's what you get,
you know, the hot dogs?

Speaker 6 (08:43):
No, no, somebody might say that when they're watching, you
actually have to try to serve.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I don't think. I don't think e MT is going
that's what Hey, you asked for this.

Speaker 9 (08:51):
You're not going to save me because I'm having hot dogs?

Speaker 6 (08:53):
I might think, why didn't you just work on getting
Joey Chester s I he'll join us on the pre
Who are the choking experts? Is there a choking expert
in the building? I think that would be the empt.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
Well, you just need someone that knows the Heimlich move.
I don't know if you need a so called expert
in that to see this point.

Speaker 7 (09:11):
Yes, Paul, going back to twenty fifteen, you referenced Matt
Stoney ate sixty two, hot Dogs, Joy Chestnut down sixty
he had no explanation for the loss. Yeah, that's kind
of like being up three to one the Warriors.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, yeah, okay, yes, Todd.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
Then he also co writes south Parker, is that somebody
else's the that's the Matt Parker.

Speaker 9 (09:32):
And Trey Stone and it's not Matt Stone.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Speaking of choking, yeah, gagging. Yeah, you're you're you're really
pushing it this week.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
I don't know. Why. Let it come to you like naturally.

Speaker 9 (09:46):
Yeahally as we said.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yes, yes, this morning, even when we warned you, we're like, no, no, no,
I don't even.

Speaker 9 (09:54):
Remember what I said.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
It wasn't Oh, I'm trying to forget what you said.

Speaker 10 (09:57):
You did, you did a good job.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yeah, So just let it come to you today. Let's
see how it works. Okay, who is it Matt Stone
and Trey Parker or Trey Stone and Matt Parker.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (10:09):
I think it's Matt Stone.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Well I was. I was in the movie with them.
Basketball they were the stars in in that universal worldly
hit basketball. Alrighty, what else do we have today seating
besides Joey Chestnut.

Speaker 6 (10:25):
Well, we're also going to go with Polly sent this
one over. Would you be willing to die to help
your team win a title?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Literally no?

Speaker 6 (10:32):
Figuratively yes? Figuratively yes, Not literally nah, I mean you'd
be immor lies. Actually, the first one is going to
be literally yes no, or figuratively yes yes. Paul.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
Okay, so let's dumb it down a little bit. If
you're Kristaps Porzingis and you know you could get shot
up and play tonight, but you're risking and the doctor say,
if you completely tear this thing, you may miss next season.

Speaker 5 (10:59):
Would you sit or play?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I would sit. It's a rare injury. They don't know
enough about it, and I would not risk that because
when you get shot up, or when you take pain meds,
sometimes you'll do things and you don't realize because it
doesn't hurt, and then you're like, oh, I feel pretty good. Well,

(11:22):
then the pain meds wear off and you're like, oh
my god, why was I out there? This isn't football.
Luca is getting shot up in his chest. He has
a chest contusion. Well, that's not going to jeopardize his career.
This is your calf and he's already missed time. So no,
I would not put him out there. And I would say, no,

(11:42):
we're not shooting it up. You don't need him right now.
I would let him sit. Maybe if there goes to
with game six or seven, then you have him, But no,
I would not have him out there.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
Yes, time, but you may never get to the NBA
Finals again, and you want to play, and maybe you
won't have a career ending injury and you've got millions
of dollars away.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
What if you play and you lose? What if you
get hurt and you lose? Thank you Todd?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Wow?

Speaker 9 (12:07):
What he really He's.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Went out there and he still tried and even well,
this isn't Willis Reid when he's walking out there. He
only played a little bit. He made two baskets and
then he went and sat down.

Speaker 9 (12:17):
They made a huge impact when we came in, he did.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
But he didn't play very long. He made two baskets.
That was it. What else do we have to get?

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Yeah, he wasn't Prezingis in the game. After he sort
of landed awkwardly on his leg. Yeah, he wasn't the
same after that, and then he was pretty much pulled
from the game. I think, so, yeah, I don't want
him out there.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
I know he says that he wants to be out there,
but you know, if I'm the Celtics, we're not putting
you out there. You want to suit up, great suit up,
but you're not going to play. We don't want to
run that risk here. I still can't believe that do
shoots like that? Oh, it drives you crazy, it does.
It does drive me crazy. There's absolutely no reason for
Christaps to be able to hit three pointers at all. Well,

(13:02):
it's almost like he unfolds, like the whole body seven four.
It's like a ladder unfolding.

Speaker 6 (13:09):
When he shoots, his leg comes flying out forward and
then the ball is just a line drive somehow. It's
like when it goes in, it's like, this is stupid.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
I thought he was going to be dominating. I thought
he'd be, you know, Wemban Yama before him, like be
blocking shots, dominating at both ends.

Speaker 6 (13:29):
And I don't know, he's bounced around to a couple
of teams.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
He's not a number one guy, maybe not a number
two guy, but number three with Boston. It's worked out.
You know, there was friction reportedly between him and Luca
in Dallas what happened with the Knicks. So you know,
it's been a kind of a strange career for him.
But winning a title, no, that goes a long way.

(13:54):
You know, that separates you from a lot of people there. Yeah, Mark, and.

Speaker 11 (13:57):
He always has the Game one performance. When you tell
the when you tell the story of the twenty twenty
four NBA Finals, Porzingis has to be mentioned because he
had such a great performance in Game one, so he
contributed to their title.

Speaker 10 (14:10):
So he's good either way.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, he's good either way.

Speaker 10 (14:14):
No, I said what I said?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Yeah, No, you're right. I mean, he did have the
unbelievable performance off the bench. Oh my god, look at
what he did. Absolutely, Drew Holliday had one of those
you know, Jalen Brown's you know, had his moments here.
Game three coming up tonight, Dallas is favored by two
and a half. Oh, I think I might have over

(14:36):
unders for tonight as well. So let me get my
paperwork in order here and I'll bring that to your attention.
Ice Cube coming up at the top of next hour,
Reggie Miller will stop by, and Bill Plashke took dead
aim at the Lakers organization after they whiffed on Dan Hurley.
We'll take a break, just getting started on this Wednesday.

(14:56):
We're back after this.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Fox Sports Radio has the best talk lineup in the nation.
Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio dot com
and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.

Speaker 12 (15:09):
Hey, we're Covino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 12 (15:15):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.

Speaker 13 (15:18):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber, list lame and me.

Speaker 12 (15:32):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 13 (15:37):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships and if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time. It will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 12 (15:51):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 13 (16:01):
There you go over Promising, and remember you could see
it on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised
with Cadino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
So once again, Chris tops Porzingis. I guess game time
decision if he's going to play tonight Dallas favored by
two and a half. Reggie Miller will join us a
little bit later on. It's interesting when you're in a
team sport, you don't want to let down a team.
John Rom's not going to play in the US Open
because he has an infected toe. He's not letting a
team down. I mean, maybe the fans want to see him,

(16:35):
but you know they'll move on and they'll root for
somebody else. With Porzingis, it's like it's the Celtic fan
base here, and you want him to be able to play.
And if he doesn't play, what's that going to mean
for our chances here? John rom not playing? He plays
in an individual sport. It's like a tennis player. If
he doesn't play, all right, the fan base loses, but
it's not your team that loses.

Speaker 8 (16:56):
Yes time, I'm not calling him that, but it does
seem a little soft who's a major.

Speaker 9 (17:01):
Golf of it?

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (17:02):
John Ram, you were tied.

Speaker 8 (17:03):
For forty fifth in the Masters, you missed the cutting,
the PGA, a chance to redeem yourself, and you're gonna
let this blistero ward or infected to keep you out
of playing at Pinehurst.

Speaker 9 (17:11):
I got a question that a little.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
I I'm going to question you questioning this because you're
the softest guy I know.

Speaker 8 (17:17):
But I'm not a professional golfer with millions of dollars
in the line and wants to show that hey, I
still got it, don't forget about me.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
He's already made his one hundred million dollars.

Speaker 8 (17:26):
Yeah, but these guys are very competitive. It's all about
Scotty Scheffler versus the field. It's like I'm John Rahm.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
Which his incentive he already left the PGA Tour.

Speaker 9 (17:36):
To do very well out of major Okay.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
But he's got his money. He's got his money, like
is he? I don't know whatever it takes a like
Tiger played with a broken leg now you know when
he won out at Tory Pins many years ago. But
now there's not many people like Tiger who would go
out there and play that way.

Speaker 9 (17:55):
All that money. You can't fight some with the fixer
infected toe. That's disappointed.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
So John Rahm won't be able to play because he
has an infected toe that he won't get shot up.
But Porzingis might play and might literally die out on
the floors literally, Yeah, yes.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Infected blister or like an infected toe. That's got to
be right up there at the top of softest sounding wow,
but most painful. Don't you make up a different injury
like I would just say, hey, you know, stress fracture
in my foot or something like something other than wait,
what's wrong? Like you know Nolan Ryan would get blisters

(18:36):
on his fingers. Now nobody would ever say Nolan Ryan
was soft, but these pictures, who was it?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Josh Beckett didn't he get blisters all the time?

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Classic blister guy.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yes, and then you're like, oh, come on, it's a blister.
You know, it's a team sport. You gotta play, rub
some dirt on it. Golf, we don't do that.

Speaker 9 (18:54):
I might go splinter or hangnail over my toes.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Well you can't go hangnail, it's very close. Well that's
soft too. No, you got to create something where it's like,
I don't know if I'll walk again.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
After consulting with numerous doctors in my team, I've decided
it is best for my long term health hmm to
withdraw from this week's US Open Championship. Long term health. Well,
if he had a cart, he'd probably be able to play.
Is it the golf or is it the walking?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Probably the walking. But John Ram won't be playing in
the US Open. He wasn't one of the favorites anyway.
I mean, it's still Scottie Scheffler versus the Field.

Speaker 9 (19:30):
Yes, Tiger had a serious car accident. You see him
limping around and trying to play in these events. Come
on play all right? That's how I feel.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Once again, you're the wrong guy to be very tough guy. Field,
you're the wrong guy.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
Just try and get an opinion that US first.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yes, Paul.

Speaker 7 (19:44):
John Rahm's injury, he said, is a lesion between the
pinky toe, the pinky toe and the fourth toe, which
does not have a name, by the way, the fourth God, it's.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
A pinky toe injury too. It still gets even worse.

Speaker 7 (19:55):
So do you know the webbing in between your toes,
that's where the injury is. He was wearing a toe
separator and flip flops. That's how serious it was the
other day. And that's when you're wearing flip flops, it's bad,
he said. The doctor said, the infection is the dangerous part,
sweating and all that, so on and so forth.

Speaker 6 (20:11):
Okay, he had his toes splade.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
Would you give up a toe for a major if yes, yes, yeah,
I give up the pinky yes, help but anybody, Yeah,
I'd be fine with that.

Speaker 9 (20:20):
Let me forgive Ronni a lot of call and get
back on.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
The golf course.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Ronnie Lott would cut off his pinky he has for
John Ram. Yeah, Yes, that's how that's how tough Ronnie
a lot is. I will cut off one of my
fingers so John rom can play in the US Open.

Speaker 6 (20:35):
You know it's I think your pinky toe, though, is
just like your pinky on your hand. It's one of
the most important toes you have. But to win the
US Open, would you do then? Well, there's no saying
he's gonna win. No, I'm saying you're gonna win. What
if you try to win you don't and then you
end up losing your pinky toe and then your whole
career because you just lost one of the most important

(20:56):
toes for balance.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
We would still respect your decision, Todd would It'll.

Speaker 9 (21:01):
Just be Johnny nine toes? So what get your own nickname?
What's the big.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Johnny nine toes?

Speaker 7 (21:07):
Yes, Paul, According to WebMD, the toe you would lose
that would cause you the least messing with your balance.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
That'd be the fourth toe.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
It's correct.

Speaker 7 (21:16):
Nice, Yeah, the fourth toe would have the least effect
on your balance. Good article with MD, something like I'd write.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
All, right, where are we now? We discussed hot dogs, blisters, lesions,
dying on the floor, all the big stories here, calf injury,
anything else that we want to bring up here? How
do we incorporate Caitlin Clark into all of this here? Yes, Paul, back.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
To porzingis if you if you had pulled the old
move of giving it a shot. You said before you
know about Willis reed and you saw it. Most people
think he went in and scored forty points for the
Knicks in that final time. Yeah, he didn't score two
and then leave for four.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
He had four point Okay, yeah, but he early baskets.
He set the tone against the Lakers. But if you
give it a go, if like I would give it
a go.

Speaker 7 (22:08):
Going back to Shilling in that game, if he didn't
try and just sat that game out and they won,
he would not he'd be remembered as a very good
player on the team, an impoort player. Instead he's he's
Boston legend because of that.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Yes, I don't know if he was jeopardizing his career.

Speaker 7 (22:22):
We actually had him on the day after the World
Series and we asked him the pole question, if you
could win that and never pitch again. He said absolutely,
I would sign up for that. I would have signed
up for it before I walked out at the Mount.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
But that wasn't the clincher though. That game they had
to go to a seventh game. I mean they had
to win six to go to seven. But if he
had and then you had to you know, you had
the oh, by the way, World Series against the Cardinals
after that, that's.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
One of the Oh that's right. If you say, who
did the Red Sox beat in the World Series, Uh,
I don't know. They beat the Yankees though.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Right if you said, if you had asked Kurt Shilling
that very same day, Kurt, you could pitch that game
and win the pennant and then never pitch again, would
you do it? And I don't know that to win
the pennant or it sounds a lot different.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
But you go back to that those playoffs and it's
almost like when Team USA beat Russia, they beat him
in the semi finals, people are like, who did they
beat in the gold medal game. You're like, I don't know, Finland,
I don't know Netherlands somewhere, but we remember them beating
the Soviet Union, And it's like the Yankees lost to

(23:32):
the Red Sox, and then it's, oh, by the way,
the Cardinals lost in the World Series.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Yes, this person writes on Twitter, which is fair, although
it's a little conspiracy theory ish. Maybe perzingis made up
a rare sounding injury to cover up a toe blister.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Or maybe that's what John Rahm should have come up with.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
He should have said, I actually have a rare injury
on this random tendon.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
No one's ever heard of it.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
I don't know if there's an athlete who has ever
suffered this injury.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
I've never seen. It's a long name attached to Christops
porzingis injury, and I didn't even know where it was. Like,
there's a tibia mentioned in here. It's like starts at
the ankle and then goes up through the calf or
something like that. But it's a rare, rare injury. A

(24:19):
couple of phone calls here Campbell in South Carolina, Good morning, Campbell,
what's on your mind?

Speaker 14 (24:26):
Morning Dan five, ten twenty five, getting in. I'm in
wedding shape for the big day coming up on Saturday. Yeah, yeah,
big day.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
This is your your.

Speaker 14 (24:38):
Wedding, Yes, this is I am the one getting married.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Okay, and the call all right, so you're getting married
in South Carolina?

Speaker 14 (24:46):
Yes, sir, Charleston is going to be a big time.
I'd love for you all to come down, but I
know it's a short note.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Why short notice here? I mean Campbell, you called in.
You probably want some advice. Now I could have given
you advice, right, there in the church maybe Backfoot party.

Speaker 14 (25:03):
Well, I mean that would have been incredible. But again, Dan,
I haven't talked to you in six years since I
was on campaigning for my Meat Friday song, which was
a one seed and I got knocked down in round two.
But he mean rhapsody look it up as a classic.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Anyways, Dan, So.

Speaker 14 (25:19):
Speaking about I know I'm supposed to make a speech.
I'm thinking it's going to be on Friday night to
my bride, and I'm trying to get it under five minutes,
and I know.

Speaker 15 (25:30):
I'm gonna cry.

Speaker 14 (25:31):
Any tips on how to make it through the speech
without crying because I get really emotional, Okay, And if
you could ask the Danettes and actually Ice Cube, who's
been married longer than I've been alive, that would be
great too, because I'm sure he's, you know, got some
great you know, he could put something together.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Okay, Well, Campbell crying is okay, going along with his speech.
That's what's bad. Let others cry with you. You don't
want them crying because you're taking forever to do your
toast here, So make sure you get to the point. Now,
this is the rehearsal dinner where you have to give
your speech.

Speaker 14 (26:08):
Yes, sir, I think I'm gonna do. I'm trying to
get it under five minutes. I've been working on it
for a couple of days now.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
All right, you tell a story how you met her,
what's amazing about her. Every time you think of her,
you think of this, or this reminds you of her,
and you can't imagine, you know, the rest of your
life without waking up and seeing this beautiful woman. That's
when everybody's like, no, camp, it's so good, Like that's

(26:34):
what you're looking for. You want to make sure that
the other women, you want to make sure you know
the wive's in there, and they all go, oh my gosh,
she's in great hands. So don't be corny. Just be nice,
be appreciative absolutely, and no no, you know, sexual jokes

(26:55):
or anything like that, don't do anything like that. Just
make sure it's all above board. Make sure that you're
saying beautiful things. Her dad's going to be right there
staring at you, probably holding a knife in his hand,
and then you know the mom's gonna be there. You
just want to make sure you just get out of
there clean where they go, oh, that was wonderful. Okay,

(27:15):
that's fantastic, thank you, so Alrighty Campbell, good luck, good luck. Yeah, Stan, that.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
Is a funny moment. Like as you go through life,
you like you're raised with your parents and then you
sort of start to have your own life and that's
the life that your parents know less and less about.
And that goes on for a very very very long
time until then it's like, hey, we're pregnant. It's like, oh,
you guys are having sex. Okay, guys. It's like the
one confirmation can we assume everything is having is oh,

(27:43):
you guys are okay?

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Got it? Yeah, No, it's weird. Weird when you know
your son says, you know, we're trying to have a baby.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
No no, nah no, no, yeah no, don't to hear that.
You well, you guys keep trying. Okay, it's gonna happen.
You guys just keep getting after it. And uh yeah,
I thought that's what I heard upstairs. Okay, yeah, okay,
Like no, I don't need to know that.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Oh you are having sex?

Speaker 6 (28:13):
Okay, good. Oh and it's working okay, good, great, Yeah,
we're trying to anywhoy let me know what you're having one.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I do need to know that that.

Speaker 10 (28:24):
Is the worst. Oh, you know, we're trying again. All right, relaxed.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
I just asked how you were Just like right, adults
talk about this right? Oh no, okay, Bob and Montana.
Hi Bob, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Oh?

Speaker 15 (28:40):
Hey, DP, thanks again for taking my call. Sure, I
have a I have a pol question. I'm hoping Seaton
will approve of here. With both Tiger and Lebron in
the news this week and we all know that they
have the same birthday being December thirtieth, would you rather
be invited to Lebron's fortieth birthday party this year or
Tiger's fiftieth birthday party next year.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
I don't know if i'd want to go to either one.
Like Tiger maybe years ago, I might want to go
to that birthday party, like fifty. He's having a hard
time walking around the crib there, Lebron, I guess. I
guess Lebron because there'll be some famous people there. Tiger,

(29:29):
I don't want to hang around other golfers or caddies. Now,
if you had waitresses there, now, all of a sudden
it got a little more interesting. So how long have
you worked at the International House of Pancakes International.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
I'm also traveled internationally.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Yeah it's not I hoop. I worked at the International
House of Pancakes.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
Oh really not just in America.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
So you are a manager at Denny's. Okay, tell me more, Yes, Paul.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
I'm with you.

Speaker 7 (29:57):
I want to go to Tiger's twenty fifth birthday party.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
That's a good time.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Darius Rucker. I think Darius maybe the Blowfish the entire
band went to Tiger's wedding when he got married to
Elin and they performed, and uh, he didn't. He doesn't
give me much detail on it, but he said, you know,
it was beautiful.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
You know.

Speaker 6 (30:20):
I think it was in the Caribbean somewhere. Maybe, yes, Mark,
did Darius have this sign nda?

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I don't think so. He didn't say anything because he
and Tiger are friendly.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
Can we have mine? Just kidding?

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Who are you in?

Speaker 6 (30:37):
The Blowfish is touring, by the way, this is the
last go around for them.

Speaker 10 (30:41):
They're coming to Hartford.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah, they are. But it's a Thursday night. I told Darius,
what are you doing? That's a school night for me.
I got to work the next day. It never thinks
of me, yes, Martin.

Speaker 10 (30:52):
So we're all going anyway, right, Yeah, we will.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Yeah, we will. Yeah. I would hope maybe we have
a row like Samler. When Sayer did his stand up,
he gave us an entire row. He's like, Danny, invite everybody,
and we did. Everybody from the man Cave went that night,
man the entire row.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
Let's see August first.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
That would be yeah, Thursday night and nobody calling in
sick the next day. Yes, time.

Speaker 9 (31:18):
Does the venu get a.

Speaker 8 (31:19):
Better deal when they hold the concert on a Tuesday
or Thursday night. It was kind of get disappointed in
those weddings or barn Miritch's that are on a Sunday
afternoon Sunday night, because it's cheaper and you're much rather
go on a Saturday afternoon of a Saturday night where
you have to get up to work early the next day.

Speaker 6 (31:32):
Thank you to uh doing Fenway Park Friday.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
It's a Friday, that's uh, not this Friday. Next Friday
at Fenway. That's pretty sweet, I know. And I told
my wife, I said, hey, Darius, Whody's going to be
at Fenway and she goes at your daughter's birthday? I said, okay,
and then she goes no end, Yeah, which is a
more rare event. Yeah, yeah, like Molly's going to have

(31:58):
another birthday, like, okay, canceled their fifteen who cares? Yes, yeah,
we know we canceled. We canceled four. You're right, you
know what, that's a great point. The fact that we
canceled four of my daughter's first six birthdays, seven birthdays.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
That implies that she was maybe like two. I think
she was one of them was canceled.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I think she was three. I think three maybe was
the first one we canceled. It might have been four,
But she did when she knew better like she did.
She obviously knew better than she did. It was like
John woodn't John wouldn't run at UCLA and winning titles.
You know, she she had four in a row. And
I mean, it's impossible. There's no child in America that

(32:39):
should that had that happen, that should happen, the bottle
of bills.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
It's correct, there's no child in America that that should
happen to.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
I agree, but you know what she deserved. I don't
know that I like that you stand by she? We do?
We stand by canceling four.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
Year Yeah, phrase cruel and unusual, yes, before yes, And
that's what my daughter was to us.

Speaker 7 (33:04):
Just to be clear, I know a lot about this.
One of the parties actually happened with her not at
the party, in another room.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Correct, she was locked in the bathroom.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
And then we would look by and go, hey, yeah
you don't okay, yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:19):
Okay, And then the rest of the children having a
good time.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Yeah, then we sang happy birthday without the birthday girl there.

Speaker 6 (33:24):
It's probably so traumatic for her to have all these
people at her house and be.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Like, why are they all here for my birthday?

Speaker 6 (33:31):
This is scary side effects of canceling every other one.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
I know, so that you know, you bring up a
great point that I should stop saying I want to
go to Fenway and.

Speaker 6 (33:42):
Oh and I was giving you the freedom to like,
who cares? No, I can't you cancel all over parties
anyway to the concert for the course.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
We don't do that anymore. Oh, we don't. There's no
reason for us to cay. She's a wonderful, wonderful woman, yes, marmon,
All right.

Speaker 11 (33:57):
Parenting advice for those that don't have any yet. People say,
all terrible twos three Yeah, three is serious.

Speaker 10 (34:04):
That's one of the I I like my son very much.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
But at three you you may have loved him, you didn't.

Speaker 10 (34:11):
Like him own, not at all.

Speaker 6 (34:13):
That's what we used to say. Yeah, like they tell
you about the terrible twos, but they never prepare you
for the a whole threes.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Which are a very real thing.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
There's no alliteration, but it's just a serious thing.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Those are very real times. Yeah, terrible twos nowhere near
as terrible as the threes. Yeah, threes were bad.

Speaker 10 (34:33):
My wife's a crier, and Lorenzo will go, what are
you gonna do? Cry? I said, you're about to get
karate chopped right now. I said you should stop.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
How about we stop right now? We got our play
of the day up next.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP. Oh my God,
the day left my God play this is no play
of the day.

Speaker 16 (35:06):
Check this out and a line drug Oh what a
pecket short throw to the plague, No safe, pirates lead
one to nothing. Want to stop by Mason win but
the one humper Pahes couldn't hold on.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Everybody's safe.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
It's won nothing Pirates got the win in Saint Louis,

most in baseball. It's courtesy of sports Net Pittsburgh. That's

In that game, Paul schemes the great rookie pitcher with
the Pirates left after dominating, shutting down the Cardinals. And
here's the Cardinals in Saint Louis. The fans reacting to

(36:04):
the Pirates pitcher.

Speaker 6 (36:06):
One hundred and three pitches, I'm you leave with a
runner at second one out?

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Look at this Greg Cardinal standing ovation.

Speaker 10 (36:17):
Incredible?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Wow? Okay uh, Paul's schemes in Saint Louis getting a
standing ovation after shutting down the Cardinals. Here is Paul's
schemes after the game. Paul, what was it.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Like to get a standing ovation from an away crowd
today after you finished your outing? Yeah, I'll be honest,
I didn't really notice it at in the moment, I
was kind of just pissed that I gave up a hit,
to be honest, but I gotta. I got a text
and about it, and like, looking back, I realized what happened,
so it was it was cool. They're they're cool fans.

(36:58):
They are They're probably two nice.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
I always go back to Tino Martinez, who played first
base for the Yankees. Then he went to the Cardinals,
and he said, even when you struggle, they are always
the glasses half full. They're like, all right, come on,
you know you're gonna get them again, he said. I
wanted them to treat me like the Yankee fans would have.
They would have been yelling and screaming at me, like
you bum get a hit. They are nice, they're educated

(37:22):
baseball fans. I can't remember when I saw the opposing
team's fan base give a standing ovation to a pitcher.
I'm shocked. Paul Schemes is wonderful, but a standing ovation,
it's like, all right, job, well done. You know you're

(37:43):
beating our team, you're shutting them down. No, I don't
think I could do that. I can be appreciative of
what I saw, but I don't think I need to
give a standing ovation to it.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
Yes, Paul, I think a lot of people agree with
your opinion on this one. It's a little over the
top for a young picture. It's not like, you know, uh,
Roger klem there some great picture at the end of
his career, Clayton Kershaw's last appearance, you're ovating a career.
Do you think it's maybe because the Cardinals fans for
it's been a long time since they've been kind of
down as a franchise. They're not really playing that well

(38:15):
the past year or two.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Wait, so now you're you don't have anything to cheer about,
so you cheer the other team a bit.

Speaker 7 (38:20):
That's the only thing I can think of. It seemed
like over the top cheering. No, I'm not sure what else.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
See, we haven't we haven't stood up for anybody in
a long time on our team. How about we stand
up for Paul's schemes here?

Speaker 5 (38:31):
No, I don't know what else the explanation.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
No, not standing up because you haven't had anything to cheer?
Are the White Sox doing this when somebody plays well
against them? They're terrible?

Speaker 7 (38:41):
Well, they're not really known for appreciating the opposing fans well.
Are opposing team.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
Yeah, no, they're not gonna see we have I forget
what it's like to give a standing ovation. How about
we stand up for Paul's schemes. He's great, powerful, great
to watch. They just appreciate the game more they maybe
they do, maybe they do best in baseball. The beauty
of Paul's schemes is the fact that he was in
the College World Series what two years ago at LSU.

(39:08):
We don't have to wait that long to see him
in major league baseball. Part of the problem with major
League baseball when you're watching the College World Series is, hey, guy,
that shortstop that Vanderbilt's really good. We won't see him
for probably two or three years. You don't have that
immediate transfer into professional baseball like you do you know, football, basketball,

(39:31):
and you miss out on that. Oh golly, I saw
that guy, you know, six months ago. Now he's starting
for the Cincinnati Reds. You don't have that transfer there,
and that's unfortunate. But Paul Skins, he's the real deal.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Man.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
It's not just he throws a hundred, it's you know,
movement on one hundred and also is breaking ball. And
he's pitched pretty well this year. Let me see Barry
and Santa fe Good morning Barry, what's on your mind?

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Good morning fellas, Good morning chatter Row. Let me preface
this by saying, I was born in Brooklyn, I was
lived on Long Island my whole life, and I cannot
be happier that Joey Chestnut has been removed from the
Mathan's Contest. The war crimes that he has committed against

(40:25):
those poor, defenseless, delicious Franks is uncalled for, and furthermore,
I think we should ban the barbaric contest. If you
want to shove down those disgusting dumpster on a fun
Chicago dogs, do it to your heart's content.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Well, thank you, Barry, thank you. Uh just got bad news.
Jerry West has passed away, one of my idols. I
had him on the show many many times. We had
checked in with him a couple of weeks ago. Wanted
to have him on.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
His wife said he wasn't feeling that well, but try
back later and didn't get that opportunity. So Jerry West
passing away at the age of eighty six. The logo, you.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Know, maybe we can cobble together some clips. If not today,
I have two more hours left to go. But you know,
he brought out a cake when we were in Los
Angeles the tenth anniversary of this show, and Pauli had
reached out, came in early in the morning.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
Pritsy reached out to Jerry, got a cake. He presented
that to me.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
Yeah's man, it's tough.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
That's touff.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
So we'll see if we can get some more details
or at least reflect on the greatness of Jerry West.
Hour two coming up, Cube. He'll stop by Bill Plashki
the La Times. I'm sure sure that he'll have some
things to say about him, And then Reggie Miller stops

(42:08):
by as well.
