(01:15):
Before we get started, I want to say goodbye to
a lifelong friend who just passed away over the weekend.
How he schwab known how he for probably over thirty years,
and how he was how he was sports Google. Before
sports Google, Google would have googled how he schwab That's

(01:35):
how he's the smartest guy that I ever met when
it comes to sports knowledge, trivia information. And when I
first started at Sports Center, I was lucky to have
how he schwabed there because he made us all better
and he loved loved the bottom line, and that is
getting the information from wherever he's finding it to you

(01:58):
while you're still on the air. Some of my favorite
stories had to do with at the end of Sports
Center when we did the eleven o'clock Eastern Show. Sometimes
we'd check in with Ken Griffey Junior and the Mariners.
They're playing the Brewers, and it would be Junior hits
a home run, and how he would be over at
the information desk you could hear Howie running. He always

(02:18):
had his keys in his pocket and you would just
hear clink clink, clink, clink, clink, clink clink. So I
try to stall a little bit because he would bring
over the information and he would say, Junior's twenty third.
You know he's got eighty nine RBIs mariners up to one.
He would give you that information and did it in
split second timing. But a generous, wonderful person. In fact,

(02:41):
when I went to Sports Jeopardy and we did one
hundred episodes, I said, look, I'll do it, but I
want Howie Schwab to come in and sort of be
the lifeguard on duty. The people at Sports Jeopardy were wonderful,
welcomed Howie, and there'd be times when the Sports Jeopardy
guys would go, well, let me check the book, and
then how We would go, no, it's correct, and so

(03:03):
they'd still go and look at the book and how
He'd go, I told you he was that knowledgeable and
passed away over the weekend. So made us great. And
there were so many of these people behind the scenes
at ESPN that made ESPN so great, and Howie was
certainly one of those people. All right, poll question seton

(03:25):
what are we going to go with? At least hour
one on this program.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
I think we're starting with the NFL draft in Okay, Oh,
the Bears haven't announced the number one pick yet because
dot dot dot.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
All right, if I had a chance to talk to
the Bears management or coach, I would ask the following,
why haven't you announced that you're taking Caleb Williams? And
just see what they say, because I don't know if
they would say, well, the NFL doesn't want us. I
was told this over the weekend. It was reemphasized to

(03:58):
me because they missed my sore said, yeah, I know
you brought this up, but you know, the NFL wants
to still maintain the possibility. And look, there is still
the possibility that the Bears would get one of those
crazy Ricky Williams deals. Be like, uh, okay, we're holding
out the possibility that maybe so I guess you would

(04:20):
say they're undecided or maybe they're decided, but they can't
tell you they're decided. Caleb. Does Caleb Williams know he's
going to be taking number one? Overall? Have they said
to him? I mean, they've done everything that would say
we're taking you number one overall, but they haven't said
it publicly.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yes, if you were to say we're taking Caleb Williams
number one, could that also have sort of a reverse
effect in getting, say a team who really wants them
to be.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Like, are you really taking them number one?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
By announcing it, would you be able to start the
conversation more almost like reverse psychology kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I don't know if anybody has said publicly or even
privately that they're interested in going after Caleb Williams, which
is surprising if he's the next Patrick Mahomes. But I
haven't heard anybody. They're talking about going up to number two,
they're talking about going up to number three now. I
don't know if the Bears have said, hey, we're not

(05:18):
interested in any trade offers here. But I would be
let me at least listen, because you do need a
lot of different things. Maybe you could be dropping down,
maybe you could still get a quarterback that you like.
But if they've locked in, are they allowed to say
we're taking Caleb Williams? Have they made up the jersey
for Thursday Night that says see Williams on the back?

(05:41):
You know you got a little bit of unrest at
number two. It feels like and I don't know if,
now this is what happens when it's there's no news,
you're trying to create news. And I don't know if
this is a case of NFL insiders trying to create
some news here. But Mike Florio, our good buddy at
Pro Football Talk, had this last Wednesday. The Commanders hosted

(06:02):
four top quarterback prospects on the same day. Now, I
don't know why you would do that, and Florio said
maybe the owner was only available for one day to
meet all four of them, But the presumptive second overall pick,
Jaden Daniels apparently might not be happy about that. And

(06:25):
so I don't know if this is, Wait, you're bringing
in four guys? Am I your guy? Because it still
feels like Drake May and Jadeen Daniels, depending on the
day or time of day, who's going to be the
number two overall pick. But I guess there's the possibility
that they don't take him, and I guess you have

(06:48):
to factor that in. Have the Commanders had a private
workout with Jaden Daniels, because there hasn't been a report
which I find really really surprising. So no workout. I
think the Vikings have had a private workout, but I
think his agent disclosed that he had a private workout

(07:08):
with the Vikings and not the commanders. I guess there's
a little bit of intrigue here. I don't know what
the Washington commanders are thinking. Is the agent? Now? The
agents play a really large role, and Bill Belichick talked
about this with McAfee. A lot of times this emanates

(07:29):
from the agent. You want to create something. Wait, he
doesn't want to go there. And then how do you
get these stories out? How do you get it to
an insider who then will report it. Now, all of
a sudden, we've got a story. So now the commanders
have a little bit of a story. Because if you're
going to have dan Quinn meet with the media today
or tomorrow, Hey, why did you bring in four quarterbacks

(07:51):
at the same time? Have you decided on your quarterback?
Now he's going to say no, we're not decided, which
always I always pause when I hear that, because if
you say now after the draft, then dan Quinn will go, well,
jayde Daniels was our quarterback all along. So you'll hear
those things sometimes I do feel like there is the

(08:13):
Drake May possibility here. Well, obviously there's the possibility, but
it feels like, you know, maybe the commanders want to
be open for business, and I get that. I would too.
I just want to know why you brought in four
quarterbacks on the same day, Like, getn't that weird? Like
hey Drake, Hey Jaden, Hey JJ, Like you're meeting in

(08:37):
the hallway there, bumping into each other. I'd like to
know if you had a private workout. I'm really surprised
at that. All right, eight seven seven three DP shows.
We always do every Monday, best and Worst of the weekend.
What you saw that you liked and you didn't like.
Here's Caleb Williams talking about going to the Bears.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Now that I want to play at one place for
twenty and Chase one guy number twelve.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
I want to place the loves ball.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
You know.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
That's all I've heard about Chicago so far, which is
exciting for me because LA was great. But there is
probably double digits of teams here.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
It's a big pool of.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
You know, so you have to be winning championships, you
have to be playoffs every year to have you know,
the fans and things like that show up and so
one thing, you know, if it was Chicago's a place
that I've heard that they love ball, which is really
exciting for me.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
It's something that I'm looking forward to and embracing.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Okay, that's on the Pivot podcast. I don't know if
they followed up with what I would think would be obvious.
Have the Bears told you they're taking you number one,
Linch because then we could put to rest. The commissioner
is telling them not to say anything. I was told
over the weekend that they want they still this is

(09:51):
a TV show. You don't want to give away the
ending of something. This has been six months in the making,
eight months in the making, and you want to take
it up to you know, because the Commissioner is going
and the Chicago Bears are on the clock. And then
we wait like seven or eight minutes. Oh we got
out a little drama here. You get to show some videos,

(10:11):
your analysts get to talk about Caleb Williams, his intangibles,
maybe his fingernail polish, whatever it might be. And the
pick is in, let's go to the podium, and the
Chicago Bears select the person you thought they were going
to select and I tried to add a little drama
to this.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Caleb Williams, Yes, see, I love the I heard they
like football in Chicago. Yeah, that's that's a new take.
I hadn't seen. I hadn't heard. Yeah, hey, look I'm
excited to go there. I heard they really like football
in Chicago.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Well, I think he said, did they say they like ball?
So I don't know if I think it was ball.
I don't even know if it was football. Yeah, I
hear they like ball there. I mean, like, I know, nitpicking.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I know, it's not like I wouldn't want to draft
the guy because he said it, but it is kind
of hilarious.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well maybe, hey, look, i'd I heard they really like ball.
I think he was talking about maybe Lonzo Ball, isn't he?
Is he with the balls still? Technically Marvin, Yeah, they
like ball. Yeah, Okay, that cracks me up. That's so funny.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
So yeah, I'm so curious what his nail situation is
going to be for Trash, I really am. Yeah, his
nails got a lot of attention. Do you go usc colors?
Do you keep it neutral? Do you just go bold
and make it like Bear's colors?

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Well, I hope he doesn't put what he put when
he faced Utah though, because that would be awkward hugging
the commissioner there. Yeah, yeah, I guess you're going to
go bears colors. I heard they like ball there. Yeah,
they like ball there, So they're gonna have orange and
black fingernails there. For Caleb Williams, the pick is in Scotti.

(11:54):
Scheffler just won the RBC Heritage so it was delayed, postponed,
and then they picked it up this morning and I
played four holes here this morning and he was done.
So if you start to look, you know, we want
to make these comparisons. Whenever somebody's on the run, we're like,
oh man, this is Tiger esque. Okay, it's impressive, but

(12:18):
there's a little recency bias here. He is set after
the win, he's set to earn. So I'm going to
tabulate this at twenty million dollars this season. Now, if
I compare that to Tiger Woods in two thousand, there's
not a comparison. With the help of gult Digest Jamie Kennedy,
he found out if that you took Tiger Woods two thousand,

(12:40):
the year two thousand his performance, and then you had
those wins with the prize money in twenty twenty four,
so Scheffler's earned twenty million dollars. If I took Tiger's
two thousand performance and use the money the monetary benefits
of twenty twenty four, Tiger would have pocketed over ninety
two million dollars in tour earnings. So the comparison shouldn't

(13:04):
take anything away from Scottie Scheffler. It just goes to
show you that Lin Tiger was dominant. Nobody was dominant
like that. And look, is there going to be an
asterisk by this because you have the players on the
live tour? Probably so. But Scotty Scheffler machine like has
he has his wife had their baby yet, Pony.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
That's why I was wondering. At the end of The Masters,
I remember the storyline being Scotty Schffler's got a run
home to Texas to be with his wife in the
birth of the baby after a quick stop at the
RBC in Hilton Head.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, and that's not a quick stop because now he's
been there for a week. But he was going to
leave the Masters no matter what because his wife was
said to deliver.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
I'm checking right now. He has not had the baby yet.
She has not had the baby, Okay, Yeah, I thought
it was imminent. Like if I'm walking up seventeen and
she goes into labor, I'm out of here. He went
back home to dallascias, Honey, Ellie, what one thing? What's
that baby?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Win the RBC at Hilton Head.

Speaker 7 (14:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
I don't know if his wife has had the baby,
but it certainly seemed like it was any second now.
He's like, you know, what, how are you feeling? Hun?

Speaker 6 (14:09):
All right?

Speaker 2 (14:10):
I mean it's not like your when I said to
my wife one Sunday morning, I was like, Hun, how
do you feel good? I'm not having the baby today?
All right? Then I'm going to do Sports Center. Get
to Sports Center, realize she's having the baby, and then
I have to leave. He's there probably on Monday or Tuesday,
you know, doing a clinic or pro am and then
you know, playing a little bit on the course, and

(14:31):
then you're going to play and then you have to
stay Monday because they couldn't complete it yesterday. Oh, I'm
assuming she hasn't had the baby yet, even though we
did supply some great baby names for him. When they do,
all right, we'll take a break, we'll settle on our
poll question, and there's a lot of things to get
to today. Tom Pelso, the great insider for NFL Network,

(14:52):
will join us later on. Mike Florio will stop by.
Your phone calls are welcomed as well. We're back after
this Dan Patrick Show.

Game with Me LeVar Arrington, TJ. Hutchman, Zada, and Plexico

(15:43):

get your podcast from.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Not Much Drama. NBA Playoffs Home Teams win eight to
oh in Game one of the first round, first time
that's happened since twenty third team, and the average margin
of victory was just over thirteen points per game. That's
the biggest in the first round game ones since twenty nineteen.
NBA teams winning game one of his seven game series

(16:14):
all time winning percentage of just over seventy five percent.
Stat of what day?

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Stad of the day?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
That beast stat of the day, stat of the day.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
It comes that what stat of the day?

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Dame Lillard scored all thirty five of his points in
the first Town Bucks beat the Pacers. Pacers, come on,
you want to be with the big boys, you gotta
win that game. I mean the Bucks without Giannis. Look
this and Dame said, this is why you brought me
in and he played well. But if you're the Pacers,

(16:51):
you gotta win these games. Yeamh Paul, Okay, stay with
me on this one.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Is it a good story or a bad story that
Damian Lillard had zero points it's in the second half,
but thirty five in the first tag it with he
was eleven of twenty four from the field. But it's
being celebrated as a very good game.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Well, I'm going to look at the overall total and
it is thirty five, But would I like it a
little more evenly distributed, Yes, you know, maybe maybe twenty
first half fifteen second half. It is surprising that you
can dominate like that and then you don't score in
the second half. But he did have thirty five. You

(17:30):
got the Magic getting five and a half against the Cavs,
Sixers getting five against the Knicks, and the Lakers getting
seven and a half against the Nuggets. I did watch
that game, and man, you got that feeling at the
end of the game, like Lakers, you guys, you know,
are you we folding up shop here and we're gonna
wait and go to game two? Because if you would

(17:51):
have said ad was gonna match the Joker, I'd go, okay,
all right, I like her chances. And then when you're watching,
I mean, Denver is not just the joker. And I
give credit to Mike Malone. I mean that's a it's
a good roster, good team. Well, I could say maybe
a great team there, but I wasn't surprised it too

(18:13):
much here. I mean, Kawhi' is not there and the
Clippers won. I guess I was a little surprised at that.
I mean, you can't count on Kawhi and I know
that he's geared up for the postseason. Well, he didn't
play in the postseason. I get it. He's a Hall
of Famer, you know, won a couple of titles, but

(18:34):
you can't he's not reliable. How many playoff games has
he played in? How many has he missed? Has he
missed like thirteen of the last sixteen playoff games?

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Kawhi has missed twelve of the last fourteen Clippers playoff game.
I mean, so it's anomaly for him to play in
the game.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Yes, yes, when you tune in, you go, oh, Kawhi
is win. But you know they extend him. Paul George
played well. I was kind of surprised at that because
I thought Dallas has got that makeup here, and they
got two closers and Kyrie and Luca that you get
in a close game, they're gonna win. They'll find a

(19:14):
way to win. The Clippers got the win. Lakers, just
you keep waiting. You know, this isn't five seven years
ago where you just flip on a switch and all
of a sudden, here we go. That's not happening. But
those are the odds for the games coming up tonight.
All right, let me see Justin and Washington leads us

(19:35):
off best and worst of the weekend.

Speaker 9 (19:36):
Hi, Justin, Hello, thank you for taking my call. Dan Patrick.
I just first time longtime five seven and I got
a best in the worst of the weekend, and I'm
gonna start with my best. I'm gonna die hard Treublazer fan.
And so it was really cool to see Damian Lillards

(19:57):
score thirty five and kind of show the world least
capable of and kind of leave that team without Joannest
why he's injured. My worst weekend Worst of the weekend
is I got a two year old daughter and I
was sitting there and the checkout line and I wrang
my stuff up at the store and I got to leave,
and I see my daughter having a sucker in her hand,

(20:20):
and uh I was like, wait, I didn't pay for that,
and so, uh I turned around and had to take
it back and it was kind of hard to, you know,
set the tone for her not stealing. And then when
I gave it back, she started crying really bad and
freaking out, and uh so that was my worst of
the weekend.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, thank you for sharing that justin Yeah, you know
it's a teaching moment. There, she's two. You got a teacher.
It's never too early to start your teaching moments when
you're a parent.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
There ye, or teacher. How to grab some meat like
some mistakes, something t bo something important, sucker doesn't have
to Yeah, or if you're going to steal something, conceal
it for a little while until you already start licking it.
Baby grab a rabbi.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, you know what is a big deal? Now? Now
my son has a daughter and she's a little over one.
The cell phone already a little over one when she
sees if you face time, she got to have the
cell phone. And then I thought, well, why not come
up with a baby friendly cell phone if you want.

(21:27):
But then even then they're so dependent. I don't know
what it is, but they see it, they want it,
and they want to hold it, and then all of
a sudden they melt down when they don't get that
cell phone at age one. Yes, what if we came
up with this thing where when it happens, you say no.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
No, I can't make any money off that.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Yeah, what if we invented this thing where It's like
when a child wants something that they're not supposed to have.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
It's a way to like deter the I think we
just say no to be new here. Yeah, but we
want to be their friends. That's the problem with uh parenting.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yeah, like most people, my son is fourteen and doesn't
have a cell phone, and you would think that it
It blows people's mind where they're.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Like, how did you do that?

Speaker 7 (22:15):
Now?

Speaker 3 (22:16):
How did that happen? Because we just said no and
then and then he wasn't allowed to have it, and
then that's how it worked. Yeah, we just said no.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Well, I said to my daughters, you can't date till
you're sixteen. Oh. They couldn't believe it. Dad, You're out
of touch. This is so embarrassing. And then later, you know,
now that they're in their twenties, they said, thank god
you said that, because we had an excuse when nobody
wanted to ask us out. But I just said, no,
you're not dating until you're sixteen. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
See, when my son was younger, we had a Our
families live in different states, so we would be driving
around a lot, and we started bringing an iPad and
letting him have it. And then one time we forgot
the iPad and he lost his mind and we were like, Okay,
this is a huge problem, so just stopped bringing it.
And after about like the second time, he just kind
of sat quietly and like looked at a book or

(23:06):
looked out the window or talked or fell asleep or whatever.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
And it wasn't even a thing anymore. Well, when people realized, like,
how did you have four kids in a seven year
period and you would travel with them like and you
didn't have like, you know, tablets or cell phones, and
we go, no, we had books, Like you should try it,
like read a book. But once your kids starts crying,

(23:31):
it's like, how do I get you to stop crying?
What do you want? I'll give it to you. But uh,
tough love something Todd didn't have when he was growing up.
I did not have that, yes, but you do now.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Yeah, it all worked its way, right.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
I give you tough love, Like, oh I even Steven.

Speaker 10 (23:49):
Yes, Marvin, Should I stop explaining stuff to my son
and just say because I said.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
So, well, I did a few of those, or I'd
say go ask your mom, but yeah, just say no,
I don't think it's the right thing. Or because I
said so.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Yeah, because I said so, makes it sound like you're
only doing it because you're a jerk if you just
tell them the real reason, like no, because it's really
bad for you. Okay, now argue with me about it,
like I'm your parents. What I'm supposed to do is
not do the bad things for you.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
I saw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees
came out. Well, we'll chat about that. I'll just I've
been campaigning for Foreigner to get in and they they're
there on the short list. I'm very proud of that.
Even speaking to the lead singer over the summer, I said,

(24:44):
I want to get you in the Hall of Fame
and he said it's not going to happen. I said, well,
I'm going to say it on my show. So Jimmy
Buffett and Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton. You
always look at these things, you go, yeah, of course,
you know. Mary J. Blige, Ozzie Tribe, Cold Quest, Dion Warwick.

(25:05):
All right, MC five, how about that? So, uh we'll
break that down as only we can.

Speaker 6 (25:13):
Now.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Did they are they nominator or do they get inducted?
Paulie Uh? I think these are they're in? So these
they got in?

Speaker 5 (25:22):
Wow, didn't get in? That's a big list.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
I know.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
I told Paulie that it's usually a round ten or twelve.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
You're right, I look back. It's some years it's as
low as five, but more like eight to ten.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Well, damn, I should go to the rock and roll
I should be invited by Foreigner, shouldn't I yeah, I
mean that's a campaigning for them. They should be in
the rock and roll they're in. We did it? Yeah, yeah, Marvin,
Now about you got to turn your microphone so they
can hear you applauding. Okay, thank you, that's great. It

(25:57):
took a little time. Oh okay, a song there. I
like that. That's good.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah. You weren't born when Foreigner was banging out hits here,
I was not, Yes, Tod it feels like the first
time you've been pushing.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
All right, do some hits, yes, Paul Ozzy Osbourne as
a solo artist, Yeah, he's already in with Black Sabbath.
I'm assuming yes, Okay, yeah, I would think.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
So.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Who's gone in the most times for a single band?
John Fogerty. I think he's in three Times. Really, I
think he might be solo songwriting and for Creeden's clear
Water Revival. There's probably a few of those. But I
think you could only go in those three ways. Oh,

(26:46):
that's it, I guess unless there's producing. Eric Clapton he's
probably in twice. Well, he was in a few bands.
Did Cream get in? I don't know, I would man,
They don't know if Cream did, and they shouldn't. But wow,
they weren't around that long. Ginger Baker's probably is a

(27:07):
rock and roll drummer. Yes, Paul, I have to double
check to make sure this is up to date. I
have Eric Clapton as the only one in three times thrice,
but for what so it'd be single solo and then
with the band Derek and the Dominoes.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
I got, let me double check this, okay.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
I thought John Fogerty went in for songwriting, you know,
kind of a triple crown.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
Eric Clapton's in for the Yardbirds, Cream and as a
solo artist. Wow, two bands and himself.

Speaker 6 (27:45):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
But those bands weren't around that long. How long was
Cream around? How long were the Yardbirds around?

Speaker 7 (27:51):
Now?

Speaker 2 (27:52):
No great band but Haerald Davis ish Yes, kind of
like a five year you know, Gail Sayers type.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
And dude to knee injury that way the Yardbirds broke up,
look it up.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah, that's true, but I don't I was in the
Yardbirds too. But Cream, How long was Cream around for?
How long do you have to be around to be
in the Hall of Fame?

Speaker 5 (28:14):
There is not It's not like the Baseball Hall of
Fame where you have to do ten seasons.

Speaker 8 (28:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, I don't think that should matter when there there
are some bands that aren't all around too too long
that have massive.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Impacts mine like a little staying power.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
There's a bunch of people in Twice, obvious, very obvious
ones like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Paul Simon solo,
and then Simon and Garfuncle, Peter Gabriel.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
I can go on and not in your highs.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
Yes, Tom Cream, nineteen sixty six to sixty eight and ninety.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Three to five.

Speaker 3 (28:48):
Yeah, those are the big years. Nobody cared about ninety
three to five. Jordan Wizards here, Yeah for Cream, lou
Reid's in Twice, Dan makes.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Sense, Underground and Solo.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
Tina Turner, Jimmy Page, Dave Roll, is one of the
younger people that's in twice.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
John Fogerty didn't he's he should be in for Maybe
he's not in for solo. Maybe it's credence and songwriting
that's messed up. Yeah, I'm doll checking that. Okay, Thank you,
Barry and Santa fe. Good morning Barry, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 6 (29:24):
Good morning fellows, Good morning chat Row. Before I get
to the best of the worst. Regarding Foreigner, they made
maybe four or five great albums. They were a great
band for ten years, but they've been a cover band
for about the last thirty five years. They're doing the
Farewell tour with no original members. Though Foreigner great band,

(29:50):
great records, kind of questionable with the Hall of Fame.
Best and Worst of the Weekend, much to your chagrin
than Baseball and hockey. Best of the Weekend, My New
York Mets go to Los Angeles, wrap around the Missi
Yamamoto on Friday, take two out of three, get five

(30:10):
consecutive series winners. Worst of the Weekend by New York Islanders,
lose Game one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Suck at NBA.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
All right, go back into your cave.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Berry.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Thank you man watch a little baseball over the weekend.
Did a couple of drive buys there? Shoho Tani passing
what Adeki Matsui the all time home rent home run
list for Japanese born baseball players, So I didn't know
that he was approaching that number. So that was nice. Yeah,

(30:46):
let me see h Ryan and queens Hi Ray, what's
on your mind today? A JP?

Speaker 10 (30:53):
I have the best and best of the weekend. First,
a trap Call quest nominated for Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame Best Hip Hop Group Ever. Question mark on
my other best Nellie Corda.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Five straight victories? In your opinion?

Speaker 10 (31:09):
Is that more impressive than what uh and what Scott
is doing right now?

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Thanks dev See.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
I think it's dangerous when you start to compare what
men do and what women do. If you just said
one golfers won five in a row, and the other
one is one like the players and the Masters and
a couple other events. Five in a row, five in
a row? How many times does that happen? I think
Anica did it. Nancy Lopez. I think Nancy Lopez won

(31:39):
eight tournaments. Maybe your first year. Nancy was a big
deal there for about three or four year window. I
mean she was. She's a great ambassador for the sport,
but when she first came out, it's like, wow, that
is dominant.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
Yes, Todd, Nancy Lopez won nine to including five Street.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Yeah how about that? So Anaka and Nancy and Nellie Cordon.
What Scheffler's doing is really impressive. You know, there's no
style points. He just does it. And I think there
are times when we go it's like Tim Duncan or
Pete Sampras, where you go, come on and was Ryanny

(32:19):
Flair here? Nope, just Timmy turning and hitting a bank shot,
running down at the other end, playing some solid post
defense and then winning a championship. Not everybody can be Ali,
Not everybody can be Dion. You know, you have to
have some of those people who are just this is
my personality, maybe trying to be something a little bit more.

(32:41):
That's when it gets awkward. Paulie, do you have an
update here? Do you have an update on Scottie Scheffler
and the baby?

Speaker 5 (32:47):
Yeah, there's a update because during the Masters there's lots
of coverage Scotti Schffler would bolt and then he got
the call about the baby. Yeah, supposedly the d date
is more like April thirtieth, and Scheffler to Golf Magazines said,
this story may have been blown out of proportion a
little bit at the.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Masters, do you think.

Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yeah? And so when Scotty Scheffler won the Masters, he
went home to Texas. Yeah, And on Sunday night, he
actually went out to a bar to celebrate friends and
his wife went with him. She was in good enough
sheef to go out to the bars with him that night.
She's okay. He stayed home. Then he went to Harbortown
in South Carolina for the RBC. It was scheduled. His
wife said, go ahead, I'm good to go. He said,

(33:25):
there's no signs that she's in labor. And he's in
the same standby mode, ready to fire up to jennif
he goes homewood. Okay, it wasn't a surprise that he
played in this tournament.

Speaker 2 (33:36):
To him, Todd, would you reach out to lou Graham
with Foreigner the lead singer.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Sure about the Scotty Scheffler baby situation?

Speaker 2 (33:43):
No, No, because I did meet him. He came here
locally with his band, and I wanted to meet him.
And I met him backstage and I said, look, you
should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
And he said it's not going to happen. And you know,
there was a falling out, you know, with other people
in the band. So I'd like to say to Lou, Hello,

(34:04):
got you in the rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
You'd like to know what love is?

Speaker 2 (34:07):
You're You're, You're Wilcome just take a break.

Speaker 1 (34:16):

gets the contact, fires oiland hits fuck great water.

Speaker 8 (34:47):
Anyways, how about thirty two for Willern with another one coming.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
That is in the first half. By the way, if
you aren't just joining us, that's courtesy of the Bucks
Radio Network. Game with thirty five, most scored in the
first half of a playoff game since Kevin Durant had
thirty eight in the Warriors first round game against the
Clippers back in twenty nineteen. That is your play of

(35:16):
the Day. Play of the Day on this Monday, brought

helping you find a job. They don't charge you anything.

Find the location nearest to you. That's expresspros dot com.
Speaking of Dame who goes for thirty five and then
didn't score in the second half, we were curious, how

(35:40):
often does that happen that somebody could have at least
thirty five in a half and not score in the
second half. We have it.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
Are you ready for the quiz? The most points scored
in one half and a player didn't score in the
opposite half of the game. So it could be happened
in the first half or the second half. Okay, it's been.
It's happened five times in the NBA history. The players
had thirty or more and a half and zero in
the second half. Who's number one all time? Who's It's

(36:08):
an easy one. It's Damian Liller with thirty five points.
The other four, let's put this way, two of them.
Three of them were referenced on last I was going
to say Jamal Croft from All Crawford is correct. Oh yeah,
oh fin, you should see his highlights.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
That was an entertaining first half, I can tell you
that much entertaining second half.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
He had zero in the first half. Great overall, Yeah, entertaining.
You get thirty one in the second half. Versus the SuperSonics. Okay,
two of them were mentioned on last week's show. One's
out of the playoffs. One is still in the playoffs. Okay,
one's out of the playoffs, but a big score.

Speaker 2 (36:43):
One's out of the playoffs, a big score.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Steph Curry Playoffs vers the Rockets. He had zero, half
had thirty three in the second half.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
The other one, who's in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
He's a teammate of a player you mentioned two minutes ago.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Okay, so he would be well if he's a teammate
of Jamal Crawford or Kevin Durant, Bradley Beale, Devin Booker,
Devin Booker twenty two playoffs Brista Pelicans, thirty one and
a half, zero in the second half.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
The other one, No one's gonna get it. Nicholas Batoum
twenty twenty two regular season versus the Pacers zero at half,
unloaded with thirty two in the second half. Batoom.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
It is bottom update to pull results if you can
seaton from the first fifty minutes of this program.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
The Bears haven't announced the number one pick yet because
the NFL asked them not to. They're still open to
a trade, or they still haven't decided. Right now, eighty
one percent of the audience believe dot dot dot.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
The commissioner told them not to say the NFL said, nah, please,
don't don't do that. Yeah, yes, Paul.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Why would the Bears listen to the commissioner?

Speaker 2 (37:53):
Why their daddy?

Speaker 5 (37:54):
Why wouldn't they say, let's do the best for our
franchise and appear to being going off all in on
the future of our franchise and make the fan base
think we have no doubts about our future.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Well, they may have already told him, right, you're not
telling your fan base.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
You have a fan base that is already half in.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Do you think that that, Well, you really think that
they're like, I don't know about this guy.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Oh, I guarantee you Chicago fans are not. There's some
Justin Fields truthers still out there that would love to
have him still on the roster.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Well, I'm fine, I understand that that I like Justin Fields.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
So let's say twenty five percent of the people of
a Bears fan still want Fields. The other half, the
other two thirds or three fourth i should say, are
mixed about Kayla Williams and are turned off.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Well, they don't know good quarterback play in Chicago's so
that's probably why they're like, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
So if your management, why not be all in? Is
they We can't wait to take him. He's our future,
He's our guy. We have no doubt.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
All Right, I'll talk to Tom Pelsero NFL Network. I'll
ask him he'll join us coming out. Let's see Kelly
and Kansas. Hi, Kel, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 7 (39:00):
All right, Dan, how are you this morning?

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Great? Kelly?

Speaker 7 (39:04):
Great calling in and five six weight is kewed due
to girling a baby and hands eye seven and three quarters.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 7 (39:16):
Calling in with best and worst of the weekend. I
don't have the worst of the weekend. But my husband
and I are expecting our first baby in September and
we found out it's a baby girl. That's the best
of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Awesome. Do you have the name? Yeah, Kelly, we do
have a name.

Speaker 7 (39:34):
I don't think I'm supposed to say it on the
Damn Packers.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Show, Well, what better place than to announce it here
to the world. Wait, are you sort of like the
Chicago Bears that you don't want to announce that you're
taking Caleb Williams. I mean, you're gonna you're gonna save
this for a birthnight.

Speaker 7 (39:53):
Yes, yes, we are, all right, so we're we're going
to compete with the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
Okay, all right, congratulations though, Kelly, Hey, I never told anybody,
as my mom said, you have him, you name them,
and it always it's it's just a mess. Whenever you
bring up hey, we're thinking about somebody knows somebody who
died tragically in a subway accident, or she had a

(40:21):
mole on the end of her not like whenever we
brought up names to my wife's mom, it didn't matter
what name. And then I said to my wife, how
about we don't say what name that we know what
we're going to name the baby, We're just not going
to tell anybody. And then we decided that's best until
we had my daughter and we thought she was going

(40:41):
to be a boy, and then we didn't have a
girl's name and that presented a little bit of an
issue because they were like, you gotta name the baby.
If you're going to leave the hospital like this, name her,
give her a name, call her, you know, skippy. I
don't care. Let's get out the door.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
What that stuck?

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Yeah, well we had to change your name though. When
we six weeks later, we called her Emily. Got out
the door. My wife I came home from work one time.
She's really very serious. She goes, she's not an Emily.
I said, yeah, that's all right, she'll grow into it.
And she goes, I want to go down to the
courthouse and change your name.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
I go, what?

Speaker 2 (41:20):
So he did change it to Georgia.

Speaker 7 (41:23):
All right.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
One hour of the book's two more to go on
this Monday. Well, I get you ready for the NFL draft?
Do the commanders really want Jade and Daniels? And why
haven't the bear? Said Caleb Williams is our guy. Hour
two on the way
