a must win situation for both teams? Celtics are favored
by six and a half. Timberwolves at the Warriors, must
win situation for the Warriors. Timberwolves favored by five and
a half. Got the NBA Draft lottery tonight, We'll talk
(00:34):
about that coming up. Pacers up three to one on
the Cabs, Donovan Mitchell banged up. Feels like everybody's been
banged up. The Thunder and the Nuggets tied at two
Games of Peace, minnesotaup two to one on Golden State,
the Knicks two to one on the.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Celtics eight, seven to seven to three.

some of the games. We'll talk about the season opener
with the Eagles, and the Eagles opening up at home,
(01:39):
defending Super Bowl champs, always at home, and if you're
looking at who would be the potential opponents, you have
to look at who the Eagles would be hosting. It's
not a you would be playing them. Eagles play a
game in Los Angeles against the Chargers, so that is
obviously one you can't open up with. They also are
(01:59):
at the Buffalo Bills. That can't be an opening night.
They will open up against the Dallas Cowboys, and I'm
surprised at this, but we'll talk about the other options
that they could have had. By the way, I think
the point spread already out on that. Yes it is,
Yes it is. Dylan just sent this to me. NFL
(02:20):
Opening day odds the Cowboys will be Okay, let's take
a guess. Cowboys at the Eagles. Paul six and a half, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Eight and a half, Todd four and a half, Seaton
three and a half.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Seven.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Eagles favored by seven over under opening night Philadelphia, and
the Cowboys seatan over under.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
Of like total points total points, all.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Right, Marvin forty two and a half, Paul forty four
and a half, Dodd forty six and a half.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Blue blue bloo. Yeah, alright, alright.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Good Eagles are gonna have forty six and the Cowboys
have half a more a.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Half a point unlikely. Yeah, so the point spread already out.
The Cowboys are getting seven against the Eagles. All right,
what's pole question we're gonna go with? By the way,
the football news, Derek Carr retiring. Now we'll look at
the possibilities for the Saints. I don't know, if you're
the Saints, do you start tanking now? And then you
(03:34):
get arch Manning? Arch Manning to leave Texas and then
he goes to his hometown of New Orleans. I don't
know or Aaron Rodgers dot dot dot. All right, see
what's pole question today? Uh, well, we might as well
stick with the NFL. Then the currently the least watchable
team in the NFL is in may cue and negative. Yeah,
(03:59):
let's just five minutes in. Let's just jump right off
the negativity cliff uh. By the way eight seven to
seven three DP show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take
your phone calls best and worst of the weekend. What
you saw that you liked, you didn't like? Okay, there
are many teams that you could throw on there. I'll
just rattle off a few and then we can go
from there.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Okay, right, all right.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Uh these are currently least watchable type teams to me anyway, right, Titans, Browns, Saints, Patriots, Steelers, Giants, Jets.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Okay, sometimes you want to watch a team because you
know it's gonna be a mess, it's gonna be a
car crash.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
They were like, rarely do they start fist fighting on
the sideline where you're like, ah, yeah, this is the
Really what you're just watching is crappy teams play.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, yes, Marvin, we're missing the Indianapolis Colts.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Okay, Mmm, you're not all in on the Anthony Richardson,
Danny Dimes quarterback.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Okay, Well, the.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Titans at least that they have cam Ward, so I
would say if I'm factoring that in, then the Titans
will be interesting. Ish, I mean, the Browns are going
to be interesting. I think how the Browns are covered
will be interesting. I don't know how good they're going
to be on the field, but I think I think
(05:32):
how the Browns are covered by the national and local
media will be really interesting.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Possibility for a lot of midweek drama with that team. Yes,
there's there's gotta be a lot of Wednesday storylines. It
feels like with the Browns this year.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Probably so great. Probably that's fun. That's all right.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
I'll take both of those off the list. Okay, great,
I have put the Saints on there. I don't feel
like the Saints are super interesting right now. They're not
very watch them. No, no, all right.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
How about the Patriots. They're building something and they got
an offensive lineman in the draft, Like, Okay, I.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Think they're moving in the right direction.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
They have a proven coach, Drake May played really well.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Certain curiosity there, maybe take a peek, but it's not
like it's not super watchable.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
No, right now? No, how about the Steelers? Yeah? Yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
What we're watching there, so maybe that's why they're not watchable.
What are we going to watch? What are we gonna say?
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Chi j Watt coming after your quarterback all day?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
How about the New York Football Giants? Yeah? Are you
interested in watching it?
Speaker 6 (06:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Because if I got Russ, they're cooking Jamis over there
on the sidelines.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Eating lead paint chips. I can't with that, do man?
I just can't with Jamis? Yes, Todd, how.
Speaker 7 (06:53):
Much time do you want to spend watching the Arizona
Cardinals play? I was just looking at that draft pick.
Nothing against Walter Nolan, that Ole miss and Will Johnson
out of Michigan and Jordan Burch out of Oregon.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
But I just don't know what this is. I think
they had a good draft.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
They just didn't take anybody in the skill positions, so
therefore we It's weird how we look at a draft
and go, I don't know, we got a defensive lineman
and we got a defensive back, And then you look
at that team two years later and you go, damn,
we got those guys in the draft. I mean, look
at the Eagles, how they built their team. They weren't
(07:27):
you know, you had to do it from inside out
with their offensive and defensive line. I think that we
tend to look at the draft or draft picks with
our teams and.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Go, I don't know who he is.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
I don't know, but you know a lot of times
they turn out to be really, really good. I thought
Marvin Harrison Junior the third was going to be unbelievable
last year. This year he gets one hundred catches. I
think now he proves himself. They got a great tight
end who never scores touchdowns, but McBride, he's good fun,
(08:03):
he got paid. And then you got my friend Kyler Murray.
So I don't know, yeah, i'd probably put I don't
go out of my way to watch the Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Who else is on that Seaton?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Let's see, we could go with the Broncos. Are you
interested in watching the Broncos?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right? The Jets.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I'm I'm mildly interested because I want to see what
Aaron Glenn does. You do? Yeah, mildly, but I I
do like watching Justin Fields. I am entertained by him.
I keep thinking he is a legitimate starter in the NFL,
(08:44):
and maybe I'm starting to lose that that contest, But yeah,
I'm mildly interested in the jants. I mean, for the
most part, you all these teams have some hope because
we see this every year where you go from you know,
worse to first in your division. It happens a lot
because the schedule is catered to you if you weren't
(09:07):
good the previous year. And you look at some of
these teams, you look at their schedules. I mean, it's
going to be a real challenge for the Eagles, and
they play a couple of tough games on the road,
but they open up with the Cowboys. All right, we'll
talk a little bit more about that as well. Looking
back on the basketball, joker is winded, he is gassed.
(09:29):
And you saw that yesterday. That was tough first quarter.
It's seventeen to nine, and I went, oh boy, this
isn't what I thought it was going to be. And
then give credit to the thunder.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
You know.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
There's a lot of times and I've talked about where
teams are on a fact finding mission, like the Rockets
this year. Fact finding it's sort of like a you know,
a school trip. You're going to go and you're going
to experience and then the next year, if you get
that opportunity, you'll learn from it. And I think that's
what we're seeing the city's youngest team in the NBA.
But this isn't about you know, maturity or lack thereof.
(10:09):
I mean, they had a statement win. That's interesting because
it wasn't by the margin. It was just they had
composure there. And then I guess you could say, well
that is maturity. But you know, shay Gil just didn't
play great, but nine of his twenty five points came
in the fourth quarter and that's when they needed it.
And I think that's the interesting part of seeing these
teams that I think Oklahoma City loses that game a
(10:31):
year ago, but you know, they didn't get bothered by
the physicality of Denver, and that was a game that
I thought Denver was going to win. Mike, by the way,
Michael Porter Junior the third he he made one more
basket than I did yesterday. And I don't know how
(10:53):
you can play thirty four minutes and you get three
points and this is a really important game. Now, this
isn't to exonerate Joker. Joker didn't play well. He hadn't
really played well. He played one really good game, but
you know, this is where you do need that supporting cast.
(11:14):
Russ goes two for twelve in these moments. This is
when everybody has to contribute because Okac is deep and
you saw that they didn't look winded the way Denver did,
certainly Joker did yesterday. And then you got the games
coming up tonight. Is this a must win for the Celtics?
Can both teams have a must win situation except for
(11:37):
a Game seven, because then we know it's must win?
Timberwolves at the Warriors. The Warriors may have blown their
best chance to steal one here Minnesota favored by five
and a half. But it's almost like the NBA World
reset after the Celtics blew out the Knicks. It's like, Okay,
all right, that's the way it's supposed to be, and
(12:00):
this is a must win situation for the next Yes, Marvin,
I have a hot take, and forgive me, by the way,
Marvin was courtside working that Celtics next game.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Although I saw you just sitting.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
You were sitting in a chair about three chairs from
Spike Lee pre game.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Yeah, it was maybe two hours before the game, so
just hanging out with an old college friend that works
with one of the NBA players. So it was just
catching up and uh ESPN on their Instagram story and
people were like, Marvin, is that you I promised I
was working before that and TV, you know this.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
It wasn't a good look.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
That's all right.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
It wasn't a good It was a look side. My
work was done, His work was already done.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
He got paid any sitting court side, I don't know
how much better that look could have gotten three seeds
down from Spike Lee balling.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Did you work and you're pretending to work? Yes, maybe
you notice more than anybody. TV is a lot of
hurry up and wait, but look at what happens around here.
There were guys who weren't busy, but they pretend to
be busy. There's all wait, there's no hurry up around here.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
It's all just it might throw some darts, might eat
a cheeseburger. I don't know.
Speaker 8 (13:12):
Yes, see, Dan, I think you're wrong on this one.
This is good for your brand, Marvin. One of your
guys is sitting court side of the Knicks games.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Like, look, what damn matricks guys are doing. Yeah, good
for the brand.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Oh so they if they didn't know that you were
there to work, you know, it's like, damn, i'r'tn got
court side seats?
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Made it.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
I was getting some vms. Oh man, all right, Marv.
I was like, no, no, no, no, no, I see that
lanyard says I was with the mother shit. Okay, yeah,
I promised I was working. I got there at six
thirty in the morning, so by that time work was
already done. You're just kind of wait for the game
to start.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
And where'd you watch the game from?
Speaker 4 (13:51):
I was all the way up at the top the bridge.
Oh okay, I was up in the rafters. Okay. So
I was only there for pregame and halftime with the
camera crew.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Okay, did you stay for the whole game?
Speaker 6 (14:04):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (14:04):
I had to oh to then do work after the game. Yes,
that's a long day, it is. I told you saw
two minutes of me sitting there. I promise I was working.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Yeah, you had a beer, I think, didn't you.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
He does love his job.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
All right, let me take a break phone calls, as
we always do every Monday. Best and worst of the weekend.
What you saw that you liked, you didn't like. I've
just been informed by Fritzy that it's National Limerick Day. No,
I'm going to take a commercial break. I did you
already come up with a limerick?
Speaker 9 (14:44):
I did.
Speaker 7 (14:44):
I just noticed a few minutes ago someone sent it
on X that it's National Limerick Day.
Speaker 9 (14:48):
So I'm like, why don't we just do.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
A fun limerick?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Why can't National Limerick Day be on a Sunday or
every day. We're just getting started here. We're back after
this on the Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
NBA Draft Lottery tonight, Utah, Washington, Charlotte fourteen percent chance
of winning the lottery. Forty years ago tonight, I was
there when the Knicks won the lottery for Patrick Ewing,
Remember covering that with Dave de Busher, the longtime Nick
great who worked in the front office I believe is
(16:30):
the GM or the team president, and he was there.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
It was their good luck charm.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
But basketball tonight, Celtics at the Knicks with the Celtics
giving six and a half, and the Timberwolves at the Warriors,
Timberwolves favored by five and a half. Maybe the Warriors
last gasp here and you know, the Pacers looked really
good and they roughed up the Cavalty. They dominated the Cavaliers,
and there's nothing you could do when you're the number
(16:57):
one seed, but you got guys banged up. You know,
this isn't a true representation of the Cavaliers, but hey,
this is who you're playing. And it's not like you
get a sympathy card, nice parting gifts here. But the
Pacers up three to one. Donovan Mitchell twisted his ankle.
We don't know the severity of that right now. Our
(17:18):
one poll question, Seaton, what did we settle on?
Speaker 5 (17:22):
Yeah, we got two of them up there right now?
Was Game three a must win for the Knicks? And
is game four a must win for the Knicks?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
I didn't think game three was a must win, man
that felt must winny to me. I thought if they
were competitive in Game three, then that would have been
mission accomplished.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Like, hey, this was no fluke.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
We won the first two games in Boston, came back home,
and I expected Boston to win that game, not in
the fashion that they did, but I would say, yes,
game four must win situation. Yes, Marvin you I could
hear you groaning over there.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
I definitely thought Game three was a must win. Also,
I have a hot take. I don't think the Celtics
are going to lose another game until the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
So they sweep the Knicks and then they sweep the
Pacers and then they go to the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Correct, Wow, Okay, I put a pile on it.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
Okay, does anybody want a piece of Marvin? He's got
the Celtics not losing another game until the NBA Finals,
all right, anybody? Yeah? No, if you want to score, okay,
if your aim is bad, you're.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Gonna get hit in the balls with a pie.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
You You know what, Since my face is my money maker,
then I might opt for that.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Just saying.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
That's going to look really really weird, is Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:01):
How is it worse for the loser of the wind?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Then I might just stay with the face and then.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
We're Mitch cup Check.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Yeah, yeah, going home a lot of explaining to do.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yes, Todd should probably be a pecan pie.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
I would think keeping with the nuts theme. I think
that's what you the pie you choose.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Nick, Thank you, Tod. It's National Limerick Day. Yeah, it's help.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Yeah, okay, uh, you're ready to go with National Limerick Day.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
Let's do a Nick Limerick. Since we're just talking about
the Nickson must.
Speaker 9 (19:38):
Win games, why not.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
This is a day that honors the birthday of the
English author and poet Edward Lear Charles P. Limerick, who
is famous for popularizing the Limerick form of poetry as
well as the Limerick poem itself.
Speaker 9 (19:54):
And he wrote all those sitcoms in the seventies.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Damn you, ed Edward. See nobody like Norman.
Speaker 9 (20:01):
No one knows Norman Lear like.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
No, no, no, I mean they. I mean it's really
it's a that's a deep dive. And I was still,
you know, delivering, I stepped on.
Speaker 9 (20:11):
You're over.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
And his name is not Norm, it's his brother, his brother.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
You would have had to Oliver about two hundred years
if he was the same guy that was writing the
seventy sitcoms.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Yeah, thank you to Okay, all right, Bil.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
Some are saying the Knicks are done, although they're up
two games to one, but a loss tonight at the
garden may make New York herds hard, and yes, dropping
to it home won't be fun.
Speaker 9 (20:38):
There's a nick limmering all right. None are of Edward
Lear's birthday in nationally.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
So it's over until next year. Wow, now I'm applauding
your limerick.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
I felt like you were plotting that we're we're gonna
wait another whole year before if they heard that the
limber because I felt the me. Yes.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
People on the social media are saying, maybe we should
be practice seeing family feud instead of doing limericks, since
we have a massive competition coming up.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
That's Friday in Atlanta.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Friday in Atlanta. It's a it's a pretty huge showdown. Uh,
maybe we should be preparing for that. I don't know
how you prepare for it. You play the game?
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Okay, do you have the game?
Speaker 9 (21:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Way we could, we could put together the game. Paulie
doesn't want us practicing.
Speaker 8 (21:27):
You can't practice for a game show. It's like practicing
for an egg toss because you're going to a carnival
or something like that. It's just fun. You go in there,
you play, you go home. Practicing will make you tense,
nervous and have the opposite effect Seaton.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
That being said, Paul's not much of a preparation guy.
Speaker 9 (21:44):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
He's really a let's just wing it and see what
happens kind of fella. There's other people might be more like, hey,
why don't we play it a couple of times, get
used to get a couple of reps, see how it feels.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Get our brain in that sort of quick thinking. Shouldn't
this already be prepping us? Quick thinking?
Speaker 2 (22:05):
What this is live? This is three hours? Yeah, but
it's not really like Okay, then give me a topic here,
but just try it, just real quick. You got one, Marvin,
you always have one hundred housewives were surveyed. You wish
your husband's blank was bigger? Dang bank account?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Pay check? Yeah, I'm going to give it to you.
I'm to give it to you. Does that heart?
Speaker 2 (22:34):
There has to be one of those questions or answers
where Steve Harvey all of a sudden looks at the
camera and doesn't say anything.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Name a house you never want to be in?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Is that a house that's number two?
Speaker 3 (22:51):
Marvin?
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Your in laws?
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Mmmm? Sorry, that's his No, Paul, the doghouse, dog houses
d on that list? All right? So far we've got
jail house, big house, or dog house. Okay, those are
two and three. Dan, do you have an answer? Which house?
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Which house do you never want to be in? I'm sorry,
your time is up? All right, your time is up, Yeah, Paul.
Speaker 8 (23:23):
I don't know if this will work. An outhouse?
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Uh, outhouse would be the last on that list. Sure, okay,
I'll take a point crazy house, mental institution.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Crazy, but I were already would have cost him so
I would have frozen.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Yeah, you already blew it. See that's why we have
to prepare. This is a skill you have to sharpen.
Haunted house is the number one haunted? Come on, lads.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Od the Eisen family would have stole that and said
haunted house, and then they would have played for we
name something.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
A baker might call his wife, Paul, what is honeybun?
Honeybun is the number one answer?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Todd?
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Sweet sweety is the number three answer? Damn, Marvin, sweety pie,
Cudy pie.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Cuty pie.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Come on, Uh, that's enough, Dan, I don't have one.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
You have to have one. I don't you have to
have an answer, Seed, That's what I'm saying. What about cupcake?
What about muffin. What about sugar?
Speaker 12 (24:26):
Hey, donut, Hey, I have dowe on here and say,
I don't know that you call your wife doweye doweie babe.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
That that's when Steve Harvey looks at the camera. Name
something in a person's closet that only comes out on
special occasions, Paul, what is the tuxedo?
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Yes? Number one?
Speaker 8 (24:47):
Jeopardy Style, what is it?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Marvin? Okay, I'm sorry, that's not right. Dan.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Name something in a person's closet that only comes out
on special occasion skeleton? Uh no, Todd, Todd, No, I'm sorry.
Only one person got an appropriate answer there. Everybody else whiffed.
If you could go to the Land of Oz, what
would you ask the wizard for?
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Dan? A heart? Okay, that is number two?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (25:20):
A brain? A brain is number three, Marvin.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Courage and uh to bag of money? Money is the
number one answer.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
I don't remember that one in the movie, was it? Well,
you don't have to take something like you just if
you were going to the wizard, what would you ask
them for?
Speaker 9 (25:44):
Hard, courage or brain?
Speaker 3 (25:45):
If the wizard doesn't.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Have anything, Yeah, but you would still ask him for money.
You would still ask him for you know, the ability
to fly, because I would know that he can't grant
me those wishes.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Name something you might see in a commercial. Dor Oh,
we already did that one. Uh okay, yeah, we did
this one too. I think we're gonna be terrible, Yeah,
I think, but together. Yeah. Yeah. What's something you keep
in your car just in case a gun? Uh?
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Wow, that's not on here, but it should be. Okay
Marvin change, Uh yeah, we'll get that to your number
one answer Paul.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Flashlight?
Speaker 5 (26:22):
Oh man, will they give you a flashlight if it's
a flare?
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Probably not? Oh, that's in the flare family, the Rick Flair.
If you keep anything in your car for an emergency, pretzels, snacks,
snacks could work. Okay, food, we'll give you food, yeah,
food and water? Sure? Sure. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:43):
They have flare gas can, spare clothes or shoes, jumper cables,
a map, a spare tire, first aid kit.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
This is gonna be bad.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Name an occasion for which you might wear your lucky underwear?
Speaker 3 (26:57):
What is your anniversary? Universary is on the list.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
It's pretty far down though, but yes, Marvin date night, alright,
hot date?
Speaker 3 (27:06):
Number one answer? Yes, Tom, Okay, Valentine's Day.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
Uh, second to last, but yes on there, Dan Birthday.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
I'm sorry. No.
Speaker 5 (27:20):
Name something you might find in a breakfast buffet. Eggs
number one answer Marvin bacon number two answer, oh, sausage.
Number three answer, pancakes, pancake slash, wopples, pancakes slash.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
You can't slash waffles. Even if you slash the waffles,
they're not on there either.
Speaker 6 (27:43):
Fruit.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
Yeah, well, melon is on there. We can give you
mellon The number four answer was potatoes or hash browns,
than juice, coffee, melon, cereal.
Speaker 9 (27:53):
Yello, dirt.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
I'm just saying I'm gonna put together a list for
later in the week. I think we should run through
this again. Okay, this is gonna be name.
Speaker 8 (28:02):
Name a place that I'll let seat and play one here.
Name a place that always has a long bathroom line?
Seaton want to go first?
Speaker 3 (28:09):
H bar Bar's number.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
Three answer Marvin sporting event number one answer, Todd movie
theater number four answer.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Yeah yeah, good answer. Answer, So we've.
Speaker 8 (28:28):
Done sports venue, bar, club, movie theater so far a
music festival concert?
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Will forget put that in Todd.
Speaker 7 (28:38):
Which once again begs the question that we were concerned
about I don't know if concern is the word. Is
this going to be sports theme questions or just generic
regular questions about everyday life.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
I'm guessing it'll be a mix, since you know it's
two sports shows against each other. I'm guessing Hunter in
West Virginia high Hunter, what's on your mind?
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Dain?
Speaker 13 (28:58):
Thanks for letting me come on the show first time,
calling a longtime listener of six five pet fifteen. I
wanted to first of all, congratulate you on getting onto
celebrity family Feud. It's a big accomplishment. And I also
wanted to give some advice, especially to Pauli over there
after the show today, go out, get a copy of
the board game. Get as much practicing as you can
(29:20):
between breaks with the board game. I have known people
and have friends who have been on game shows and
they say, if you play the home game, you'll get
a lot of good practice in before you actually get
on the show. So keep that in mind. And if
you don't win the big money, hey, at least Fritzy
will at least maybe make you go viral on YouTube.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
If we win, great, If we lose in spectacular fashion,
entertaining fashion. That's all I'm asking for. We either win
or we create great content. All right, phone calls will
get to those coming up best and worst of the weekend. Also,
why are the Eagles opening up with the Dallas Cowboys?
Why does the NFL want to open up with Dallas
(30:04):
at Philadelphia? There's you know, obviously this is their home
schedule the other teams, so you have home and home
Dallas and the Giants and the Commanders. Who else is
on that list? Paul?
Speaker 4 (30:19):
They could have.
Speaker 8 (30:20):
Picked the Bears, the Lions, the Broncos, the La Rams,
or the Raiders. Those are the options for the opening
day with the at the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Mmm. I have a theory.
Speaker 8 (30:32):
You put Dallas in there, you can go, well, Dallas
is still somewhat interesting. And let's say they don't perform
well and it's Week five, big fan base. You can
really not screw up the opening night game. Everyone's watching
no matter what. So you throw Dallas in there, which
may not be a great game. In week six, seven
or eight, they're thinking, not mine.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
It feels like Dallas draws no matter what. You tune
in to watch them win or you tune in to
watch them lose.
Speaker 8 (30:59):
Or undefeated in game one.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
But is is there any other team in the NFL
where you tune in to watch them either win or lose,
like you actually tune into a game to watch this
team lose a game. Are the Chiefs on that level
that now we're tuning in to see they either win
or they lose. I just don't know their national not hatred,
(31:22):
but maybe just tired of the coverage of the Chiefs. Yes, Marvin, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
You said the words out of my mouth. I think
that's it.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah, but maybe the Chiefs are there.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Because not a Chiefs, not as a franchise, just it's
current iteration.
Speaker 9 (31:38):
Of the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Did you use iteration?
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah, with Swifties and all that.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
It's very impressive. Yes, Hunt.
Speaker 7 (31:45):
A few years ago, I might have said the Patriots,
you know, the win or Lewis hate them, well, love
them kind of thing. But now they've become something of
less of a factor where there's not much passionate about it.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
That's why I was asking about twenty seventeen.
Speaker 8 (31:58):
Is this sho or eight years ago to great after.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Back in the day the Steelers you tuned in another one, yeah,
thank you, Todd or the forty Raiders yes, I think
I would.
Speaker 8 (32:10):
Have given the opening day game, Opening night game Eagles
versus the Washington Commanders. The Commanders are on a clean
up run like no franchise in sports history. Five years ago,
they were one of the most disliked franchises in all
of sports because of their owner. They just got the draft,
they just got the stadium thing down.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
But I don't think people disliked them.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
No, now they're very popular.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
No, but I don't think they disliked them with Daniel Snyder.
They just laughed at them.
Speaker 8 (32:34):
Yeah, either way, I guess they.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Didn't win enough that I didn't tune in and to
watch them lose because Daniel Snyder was their owner.
Speaker 8 (32:41):
But you could have had Jane Daniels at the opener.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Very popular.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
I like that one better. Dallas is going to draw
no matter what. I'm curious. I'm really really curious about
the Commanders this season because they surprised everybody and they
won a lot of I think seven games last possession.
It's almost like they were the Texans. The Texans two
years ago. Felt commander ish.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Yeah, it feels like the Commanders have to have another
great year to get that opening game.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
Love.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
Yeah, it feels like it's a little early.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
Like it like if you gave the Lions that first
they had one good season, You're like, all right, get
the Lion. Well, wait a minute, let's see if they're
actually good again this year, and then we'll give them
something like that.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
Yes, ton, I would have been more excited about Detroit
just because of the way things ended and the expectation
is the way things just crash landed. I'm like, how
they going to clean up their act and come right
out against the Super Bowl champs and show them that
they're back on track right away.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
We'll take a break. Our Play of the Day is
up next.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP.
Speaker 6 (33:49):
Oh My God.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Of the Day, the play.
Speaker 8 (33:56):
Of the day.
Speaker 9 (33:59):
Check this out with it.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Three to shoot, two to shoot.
Speaker 7 (34:02):
Oh my goodness, what is happening here? My?
Speaker 13 (34:10):
Oh my?
Speaker 9 (34:12):
Free from the left side. It's seventy five to thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
Indiana led eighty to thirty nine at halftime. The Pacers
are the tenth team in playoff history and the second
in the past week to score at least eighty points
in the first half of a playoff game. That's courtesy
Pacers Radio Network. Play the Day, brought to you by Maco.
Cars could use a little TLC staying on the road
(34:38):
longer and we're holding onto our cars longer, So bring
that car back to life. Affordable paint choms, light collision repairs.
Get a free estimate today. Uh oh, better get Maco.
I mentioned when this series started with the Cavaliers and
the Pacers America will probably be introduced to the Pacers,
not reintroduced, but introduced and maybe reintroduced from last year
(35:02):
when they went to the Eastern Conference Finals. They're a
really good team. They're deep team as well, and of
course the Cavaliers are banged up. Satan update the poll results.
Get a few more phone calls in here. Was Game
three a must win for the Knicks right now? Seventy
six percent of the audience have that as a yes okay?
And was game four? There is Game four a must
(35:24):
win for the Knicks. So that's Game three Game four
that's got eighty two percent It says a yes okay.
I think it's a must win for both teams tonight
because if the Knicks win, they're up three games to one. Now,
I even when the Celtics lost the first two games,
I said, I still thought Boston was going to win
the series, and I still feel that way. But if
(35:45):
the Knicks win this game and they're up three games
to one, I think it's a must win for both
Golden State. I'd say it's a month. I don't think
Steph Curry's going to play. I know that they are
now talking maybe game six, that he would be available.
And even then if he does come back, if I'm
(36:06):
Minnesota man, I just rough him up. I run him ragged,
you know. So, I don't know how effective he's going
to be. This is a must win situation for Golden State.
Let me see Paul and Iowa. Hi, Paul, what's on
your mind today?
Speaker 6 (36:22):
Oh man? Two sports in the middle of the playoffs
and a starting quarterback retires over the weekend. But if
it's National Limerick to Day, it's a one guest show, huh,
all right?
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Well taking a shot.
Speaker 9 (36:37):
We had four guests on Friday. But let's just talk about.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
This is this is our job to give Fritzy Green.
I mean, we were all thinking it, Paul said, so
I appreciate.
Speaker 9 (36:46):
It quality, not quantity.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Thank you, thank you. Yes, Paul, what else is on
your mind? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (36:53):
Well, my my question is about Carr in the Saints.
So Dan, if you're the Saints, would you to hail
Mary shot and call Aaron Rodgers because we kind of
all know he's just waiting for the schedule to come
out to sign with the Steelers so they don't get
all the night games.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Would you do that?
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Or would you call in division to Atlanta and ask
about a price for Kirk?
Speaker 3 (37:14):
I would definitely.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
I don't know if they would trade him inside the
division there. I don't know what you have to give up.
I don't know how much of his salary you have
to take on. But I had not heard what Paul
was saying that Aaron Rodgers is waiting for the schedule
to come out so he's not playing in these night games.
I had not heard that. And if you're Aaron Rodgers,
(37:36):
do you want to play for the Steelers? Do you
want to play for the Saints? I love New Orleans,
but if I'm trying to win football games, I'm going
to Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
Gampoli.
Speaker 8 (37:46):
The Saints were five and twelve last year. They lost
their last four, but that division feels more winnable. Yes,
some others.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Can you think of a division when's the last time
you had a division that had.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
The total starts of.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
The quarterbacks because these guys don't have experience. Now, Baker
Mayfield probably has over one hundred starts, but he's he's
got seniority there. But look at you know, Bryce Young,
Michael Pennix Junior, the third, Spencer Rattler, he's got like
(38:25):
six h Bryce Young probably has twenty.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Marvin.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
I'm sure the AFC South at one point, sure they
have like TJ.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Yates and TJ.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Yates poll early on Monday, who they have that's savage?
Then they have a Savage Tom Savage. Yeah, yeah, maybe
AFC South probably had a moment where now going into
a season, the fewest starts for the starting quarterbacks because
(39:00):
the Saints, if they have Spencer Rattler, he's probably got
less than ten starts in his career, and Tyler Shuck
maybe your starting quarterback.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Yeah, yes.
Speaker 8 (39:15):
And then the bigger topic that we've been waiting to
get to is Derek Carr, a member of the Hall
of Very Good.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Oh, Paulie got blasted this morning. Paully came in as
curator of the museum.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Oh, Paulie thought that he had a Hall of very
good with Derek Carr, and we gave him both barrels. Oha,
sure he doesn't have a Hall of very good. I
don't know that he's been moved off. That he is
not a Hall of very good.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
He's not.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
He's a hall of good. I don't think he ever
won a playoff game. There is no hall of good,
all of pretty good.
Speaker 8 (39:47):
The Hall of very good, by the bylaws, was built
for people who don't belong in the Hall of Fame.
Step one, Derek Carr is he's not a Hall of
Fame threatening player in any way. Right, Yeah, four Pro
two d and fifty seven touchdowns and one hundred and
twelve picks. Okay, that ratio was really good and forty
thousand yards.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Okay, that's very good, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
But everybody nowadays and all these quarterbacks are going to
be tired with at least forty thousand yards. Feels like
if you're if you're a starting quarterback for a decade.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Yes, yes, Martin, I think the Hall of very Good
at reserve for guys like Steve McNair and Boomer asiasin
maybe Phil Simms, guys, I've had success.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
That's a good point to Yeah, like Derek Carr.
Speaker 8 (40:32):
Veterans Committee. Maybe not first out he's getting in.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
He's not getting in the whole of very good.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Chisseling his bust. He is. He is a very good guy.
How's that he helps? So the Hall of very good guy?
Speaker 8 (40:49):
Three Pro Bowls in his first four seasons?
Speaker 2 (40:52):
Okay, yeah, started out well. Did he have a playoff win?
Paul what's his playoff record?
Speaker 11 (40:59):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (40:59):
And one?
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Okay, But I like how PAULI said that he's not
a me first guy.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
That's why he did.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
You know, he didn't want to have those gaudy stats
like winning pesky playoff games and.
Speaker 8 (41:10):
That's how you end up in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Want no part.
Speaker 8 (41:12):
He want to be first ballot.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
All very good. He's so very good.
Speaker 5 (41:16):
His team went six and nine for whatever, you know,
they finished everything with a record.
Speaker 8 (41:21):
Yeah, seventy seven and ninety two is a starter one.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Now that's not good. That's not good. That's so great. Yeah,
pretty good though.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
One hour in the books on this Monday, best and
worst of the weekend. More of your phone calls coming
up National Limerick Day. You got it out of the
way early with Fritzy Hour two on the way right
after this
