Sauce Gardner, the Cowboys went out and got Quinn Williams.
I want to play something for you that happened yesterday
when we were talking to Jay Glazier and of course
the Great Fox Insider. He was actually in London vacationing
(01:07):
for a few days with his wife before coming back,
and he was getting a text message and it sounded
like this checking your phone for trade in from now.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
I'm getting call actually now saying.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
Guy asked me, what are you think about Quinn Williams?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Last second here might have a shot, So great, dude,
love the guy.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Are the Jets selling well?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
They warn't.
Speaker 6 (01:29):
They were kind of like, hey, you gotta make us
a huge offer, blow us out of the water.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
But you know, maybe somebody's willing to do something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, maybe somebody like Dallas was texting Jay Glazier and
Jay said, look, teams will use me as sort of
a liaison or intermediary. Hey, can you inquire about this? Therefore,
they're not asking the team, they're asking Jay, Hey, is
he available? Just like Max Crosby. If you're the Raiders,
(01:55):
you're gonna hold onto Max Crosby. Love Max Crosby. But
what are you doing and where there are you going?
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Now?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I thought that maybe if Gino Smith played as he
has in the previous years, and maybe Ashton Genty played well,
Bowers is really good. You got Max Crosby and Pete Carroll.
I thought it was a recipe for maybe a five
hundred team, a little bit better, maybe a little worse
than that, but being competitive, and you're not. And Rock
(02:22):
Bowers is the one guy that I would view as
maybe untouchable because what can I get for Max Crosby.
If you're going to get a couple of first round
picks for Quinn Williams, You're going to get a couple
of first round picks for Max Crosby.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
But let's not be deceived.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
By the picks that you get, because if you look
at what the Jets got full return for Sauce Gardner
and Quentin Williams, they got a first round pick from
Indy in twenty twenty six, Dallas second round pick in
twenty twenty six, Indy's first round pick in twenty twenty seven,
and then they'll get a first round pick either from
(02:57):
Dallas or Green Bay, whichever one is higher. You get
ad Mitchell wide receiver, and you get a defensive lineman.
So it's nice to have those picks. But as we've
said many many times down through the years, who's making
the picks, it's not Ozzie Newsom from the Ravens or
(03:17):
it's you know, Howie Roseman.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
From the Eagle. I mean who's making the picks?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Because if you don't have a great front office, it
doesn't matter what picks you get.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
And plus with those picks, what are you going to
go after?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Maybe a defensive lineman to replace Quinn Williams, maybe a
defensive back to replace Sauce Gardner. We get caught up
in oh my god, they got all these first round picks. Okay,
but you still have to make those first round picks
move and work and what are we getting? And then
you're trying to replace the players that you traded away.
(03:53):
And it's all about money because if you look at
the amount of money the Jets, we're going to have
to pay one hundred and twenty million dollars for Sauce Gardner.
Now his production's dipped a little bit, but he's still
really good. This is a championship caliber move because you
get a really good corner and it feels like they're
all in and why wouldn't you be. I think the
(04:15):
Colts have to look around and go the AFC is open,
like the Chiefs may not make the playoffs. And then
you got the Buffalo bills. They didn't make any moves.
I was really surprised. I thought Buffalo was going to
make some moves. Here you stumble into Daniel Jones. I mean,
you were really really It's almost like what the Niners
(04:37):
did with Rock Purty. You screwed up Trey Lance and
then Rock Perty came in and saved you. You screwed
up Anthony Richardson, and now you got Danny Dimes to
help save the day. And you got to look at
this and say, we can not only win our division,
we can win the AFC. And I like the thinking,
(04:57):
you're all in. You prove that, and that's believability in
Daniel Jones that he is your quarterback. And to add
that to your defense, I thought it was a great
move for them if they felt that's the one piece
that we really needed. As far as the Jets, I
can applaud them for getting a lot in return, But
(05:19):
then you're saying, Okay, not next year, and probably not
the year after that, maybe three years down the road. Now,
if you're a fan and I think they just raised
ticket prices, by the way, are you okay with that?
Remember the seventy six ers, with the process nonsense. Oh,
it's the process. It's the process. It's the process. They
(05:41):
had bad draft picks and all of a sudden, we waited,
we waited. You know, they eventually got to Eastern Conference Finals.
But you know, you gotta trust. Like the Cubs did
this in twenty eleven. They announced what they were doing.
They're like, hey, we're getting rid of our players. We
got three years maybe, and theo Epstein cashed in on
(06:02):
that and they win a World Series. As long as
you trust your front office, as long as you trust management,
I'm okay with this. Would I be trusting the Jets? No,
I would not. I don't know about Aaron Glenn as
a head coach. They need a quarterback, Oh, I know
it's going to be a quarterback rich draft, Like every
(06:23):
quarterback you know, draft is, Oh, you can get your quarterback.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
But you're going to get these draft picks and how
good are they going to be?
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Who's drafting? That's the key?
Speaker 7 (06:36):
You know.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
The Cowboys getting Quinn Williams. I like, okay, I mean
I like him, and I did say yesterday, don't make
a move that's now, because there is no now. It
feels like for the Cowboys. I want to know next year,
in the year after that. And Quentin Williams is all
pro a couple of times. He's twenty seven, I believe.
(06:59):
So Okay, I got another run stopper here. I need
somebody to get to the quarterback. By the way, the
Bengals don't move on from Trey hendrickson their price, asking price,
probably too much. Albert Breer, the Monday Morning quarterback, will
join us a little bit later on. We'll talk about that.
You start to look at those who did and those
who didn't, and sometimes it's more fascinating those who didn't.
(07:22):
I thought the Dolphins might move on from Chubb. I
thought Jalen Waddle might move on from him as well. Buffalo,
I thought they were going to do something. And all
it takes is maybe one little move. And I don't
think anybody was talking about Quinn Williams or Sauce Gardner
being traded. They were shocked that they were traded. Normally,
you'll get a little inkling. A player will find out
(07:44):
that hey, or your agent will tell you, Hey, your
name's being thrown around there. Hey, somebody's really interested in you.
And as we found from Jay Glazier yesterday, the Cowboys
reached out to him while he was on with us
to ask if Quinn Way was available, and I think
Jay was saying, I don't know if he is, but
(08:06):
we're going to find out if he is.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
And that's all it took. Like what are you willing
to give? Yes, Marvin?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
And then Bree Hall on X yesterday was really funny
because he said, way, oh.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
What about me?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Not trade me too?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I would have? I like Breese Hall, but I once
again like how far do you go?
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Now?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
If you're a Jets fan, do you go?
Speaker 8 (08:29):
Well?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
At least we got Garrett Wilson and Breese Hall to
go watch play. That's the hard part because if you're
a true fan, you're not walking away from your team
for two years. Hey, you know what, I'll be back
in a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
There's only so many games now eight home games, nine
home games. But you start to look at some of
these teams and you wonder why didn't you sell or
why didn't you buy? Because currently in the AFC, it
feels like the AFC is open for business. Because are
you sold on Denver? Are you on the Chargers, the Chiefs,
(09:09):
the Bills, Jags. Who's a great team and I don't
think you have one. The NFC feels like it's a
little more top heavy. But we'll talk to Albert Breer
and we'd love to give grades here or who won
and who lost at the trade deadline. The Dodgers manager
Dave Roberts will join us a little later on, and
(09:31):
Phil Jackson will stop by. Phil has a new book
out with Sam Smith, the longtime Chicago Bulls writer NBA writer,
called Masters of the Game, where they have a conversation
about the top seventy five players. So that's coming up.
Busy day eight seven seven three DP show the college
football rankings. I don't think ever in my lifetime I
(09:53):
would have thought that I would look at the rankings
and go Indiana is number two in America, Ohio States
number one, then A and m and Bama. Notre Dame
is in good shape. Miami is not Texas on the CUSP.
So now it gets interesting. This is where you can't
have another loss if you're gonna make the playoffs, all right,
Seaton pull question for hour one is gonna be what
(10:15):
going to be?
Speaker 9 (10:16):
What?
Speaker 10 (10:17):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (10:17):
Well, if you're a Jets fan today, you are excited
for the future or feeling lost.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I came in yesterday afternoon and a couple of the
back room guys, Robin Anthony, they were sitting back there
and I said, hey, how's it going. They go great,
and I go and I didn't know Quinn Williams had
been traded. I said, what what you got something for
Sauce Garden go Quinn Williams got traded? I go, okay, sorry,
just passing through, just passing through. So those are diehard
(10:46):
Jets fans, and uh, I don't think they were all
in on that trade because once again, you have something
tangible with Sauce Gardner and Quinn Williams. Now, I just
got some draft picks. Draft picks are potential. Potential gets
you fired.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
You don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
I mean, what are the odds you're going to get
a player who is good? What are the odds you're
going to get a player who's really good? You traded
two guys who are really good. I think we can
all agree, not Hall of famers, but really good. Now
you've got to try to find two really good players.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yes, balling it.
Speaker 12 (11:26):
Is funny because the Jets draft history is pretty bad.
But recent history is at a little better. In the
twenty twenty two they got Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson.
Those are both working out, and you look at the
past couple of years, it's all been good, but you're
in this weird valley where they're in the middle of
their careers. They're expensive and they're expendable. Those two draft
(11:48):
picks worked out for you. Those are the kind of
guys you want to extend for the rest of their career.
But this lull you're in, you got to be a seller.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Well, we need to check and see who was the
GM when they drafted those players, because don't they have
a new I believe, So once again, who's drafting and
you got ownership that you can't feel confident about. Aaron
Glenn I have no idea. I feel like if they
didn't win a game, he'd probably not keep his jam.
(12:17):
But so if you're a Jets fan, it's about hope.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Again.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Hey, we got we got rid of Sauce Gardner's contract
and we got some first round picks. Still don't have
a quarterback, but it's a quarterback heavy draft. They're going
to find their guy. You know what I would do
with five is the Jets I trade for Kyler Murray?
Oh no, no, yeah, I bring in Kyler Murray. Maybe
(12:47):
maybe I get him, you know, a nice, nice price
or something. Cardinals are moving on apparently, or they they're
not ready to turn it over to Kyler Murray. You
know what when we come back. Their head coach Jonathan
Gannon after the win on Sunday was like, hey, you
know we uh Cotta Murray still our guy. And then
(13:10):
all of a sudden something changed twenty four hours later,
and I'm like, what happened?
Speaker 3 (13:13):
What changed?
Speaker 2 (13:14):
I wish I would have been in the press conference
because I have two questions that I would have asked
to the coach.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
All right, so we'll settle on a poll question.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Got a busy day, Albert Breer the Monday Morning Quarterback,
Dave Roberts Dodger Skipper, and Phil Jackson a little bit
later on as well, just getting started on this Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
We'll take a break. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show.

again YouTube, Just search Odd Couple FSR. Check us out
on YouTube and subscribe.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Uh busy show here. Glad to have you on board.
If you're watching on Peacock or you're listening on your
radio station. Your local radio station's over four hundred cities
carrying the program. Was Kyler Murray benched or are they
waiting for him to be one hundred percent? It's kind
of tricky because I said this yesterday that if I'm
(14:37):
the Cardinals, I would probably want him to be one
hundred and fifteen percent healthy.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Not possible, but I wanted to be. Are you sure
you're healthy?
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Because Jacoby Brissett is playing good now? Is he a
long term solution?
Speaker 13 (14:52):
No?
Speaker 3 (14:53):
But I don't know if Kyler Murray is a long
term solution.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Jonathan Gannon is the Cardinals head coach and he said
that Jacoby Brissette is going to start the next game.
Speaker 14 (15:05):
To release the quarterback in Seattle. Jacoby will start and
Kyler will keep working on his health. Buckets still fully helpful. Lated, Yeah,
why are you willing.
Speaker 15 (15:18):
To to Kyler out five days?
Speaker 14 (15:22):
I didn't roll him out? Yeah, I think you know,
with the clarity that it provides game planning for our team,
I think that's important.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Go from there. I love the energy.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
I would have said if I was in the press conference,
could Kyler have played today?
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Coach?
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Like, how how close is he to being able to
come back? Because now the backup quarterback is not interviewed.
But if Kyler Murray and his reps wanted to send
a message, they could send a message through one of
the insiders and say Kyler has been cleared to play,
he's one hundred percent. But if they win the next game,
(16:08):
give me, give me what their schedule is, Paulie, it's
pretty tough.
Speaker 12 (16:11):
The Cardinals are at Seattle, host San Francisco host Jacksonville
at Tampa than the Rams. That's tough.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Yeah, Yeah, this feels like there's a little more to
that that uh now you're you're gonna uh rule him out?
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Five games, five days before you're going to play a game.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Was was he that close or is he so far
away that because after Sunday's game he said, Kyler Murray
is still our starting quarterback. Right after the win, he
still our starting quarter After a Monday night's game, He's
still our starting quarterback?
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Now, what changed?
Speaker 12 (16:51):
Yeah, Pauling, Could this be nothing more than Jonathan Gannon
trying to save his job? He got a win last
week after five straight losses. I'll do anything to keep
my job, and this guy, by a slim margin, helps.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Me keep it.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
But what's that say about Kyler Murray's future?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
If a journeyman Jacobe Brissette's kind.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Of holding him off right now?
Speaker 12 (17:13):
Exactly, It's like whatever works this week when I'm trying
to keep my job for another year in Arizona.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I mentioned who drafted Sauce Gardner, who drafted Quinn Williams,
Because there's you know, I think we're looking at the
Jets saying, hey, they're in good hands.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Who is it? Darren Mogi? Is that right? Marvin Moji?
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Moji? Okay, he's the GM. He wasn't there. He didn't
draft Sauce Gardner. He didn't it was Joe Douglas who
drafted Sauce Gardner. Mike mccagnuan he drafted Quinn Williams. So
let's let's be fair to who's in charge now.
Speaker 8 (17:51):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Darren Moji, the Jets GM had this to say on
his message to Jets fans, the Jets GM, the goal.
Speaker 9 (18:02):
Is always to win. Look, these coaches and players work
too hard every day all day with the goal of
winning on Sunday, and that never changes because that's what
the fans deserve. That's what the players are, that's what
the coaches are, and that never changes. I understand the
trade deadline and different moving parts, but.
Speaker 16 (18:22):
The goal is to.
Speaker 9 (18:23):
Always win on Sunday and that's what we work to
do all week and that's and that's that's how it is.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Okay, Okay, I understand what he's saying. But now you're
going to rebuild on top of the rebuild on top
of the rebuild. You know, you you keep putting a
foundation in, then you take the foundation out, and then
you put a foundation in.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
I want to build a house here. I want to
build a home here.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
And that's the biggest concern I have with the Jets
is Okay, we have draft picks, and what are we
going to do with those draft picks? All I want
to know is what is our game plan? Are we
going to go into the draft trying to find our quarterback?
Are we going to make a trade to get a
quarterback here? Because if you don't have that, it really
doesn't matter. I mean, you had Aaron Rodgers granted at
(19:17):
the end of his career, but you couldn't make that work.
Quinn Williams and Sauce Gardner were playing and it didn't
really matter. Garrett Wilson is a quality wide receiver, Breese
Hall is a really good all purpose running back. Now
you've gotten rid of your two best defensive players. I
(19:38):
was surprised, you know, I thought Breese Hall and Garrett
Wilson were gonzo. But as long as you got a plan,
fans want to plan, yes, bull, But the Jets.
Speaker 12 (19:48):
Were so bad this year at one and seven, it
allowed them to completely rebuild. If they're three and four,
you can't make these trades. You're too close, So you
don't want to be in that no man's land. The
Jets are actually in this weirdly good spot to move
on from huge contracts of players who have cooled off
a little bit again. I'm not a Jets guy, but
(20:09):
I could see the move because they're not winning anything
this year anyway.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Adam in Rochester, Hi, Adam.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Dana, thank you for taking my call on five to eleven,
one hundred and seventy pounds.
Speaker 17 (20:20):
And full of gang green energy today. Oh, I'm excited
about the Tradeska. I thought that they were good trades.
I mean, I agree with everything you've said, except.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
I don't want Kyler Murray at all. I agree. We've
been down this road before with them, you know, drafting Sanchez,
Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, providing us hope. I just hope
that Aaron Glenn can model what he's doing now after
what Dan Campbell did in Detroit. Dan Campbell was able
to make a move with Matthew Stafford, get Jared Goff,
(20:54):
get a couple first round picks, and change that whole
franchise around. I feel like Aaron Glenn and Darren Moujie
have the same opportunity to do that. Sauce has not
been good the last two years. Quinnin Williams is twenty
nine years old. He's got one stack this year against
Aaron Rodgers in the first game of the season, and
then after that that's it. And you're right, they're one
(21:15):
at seven, So stop kicking us while we're down.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Hello.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
I don't like the mother shit. I think it's totally garbage.
I was watching Jeff Saturday this morning saying how Indianapolis
did so great with the Sauce trade. I would disagree,
even though I am a Jets fan, I'm biased, but
I would disagree. I would think that the Jets got
two first round picks and a wide receiver that they
drafted in the second round, but.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
They're probably going to be late first round picks though.
To be honest with this, Adam, honest assessment here, I
mean it'll probably be twenty six or deeper with those
first round draft picks, still first round picks, and you
get a wide receiver who's really good up until ninety
nine yards. You know that last yard is always difficult
(22:01):
for him when he gets to the goal end. But
I'm glad, Adam. You know, hey, you're a Jets fan.
You got to live with it, and if you see
the positives there. I had mentioned earlier that Sauce Gardner
Pro Football Focus still has him ranked pretty high. He
has dipped a little bit. Quinn Williams is not a
sack guy. And but you know, these guys are expensive.
(22:25):
I don't know what Dallas is doing, but the Colts.
I like what the Colts did. Did they give up
a lot?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
But then all you need is one super Bowl? Like,
what would Jets fans give for one super Bowl in
your lifetime after so many years of nothing? You've gone
a couple of AFC title games, but you would give up.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
You would give up.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
All the winning seasons after that, be like, hey, we're
not going to win after that, but we're good. We
can take away playoff appearances for the next one years.
And you might do that anyway, but if you got
a super Bowl, you'd be like, hey, this is worth it.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
We got a super Bowl. That's all you want.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
That's what the Colts want. They won a super Bowl.
Buffalo wants to be back Super Bowl, although they didn't
make any moves. Bury in Long Island, Hi, Barry, how
are you feeling today as a Jets fan?
Speaker 8 (23:24):
Good morning fellow, Good morning chet Row. Poor poor Adam
and Rochester, so young, so naive, he has no idea
what he's in for. I turned sixty five last week,
and I'd resigned myself to the fact that I'm not
going to see a Jets Super Bowl. Now I'm pretty
(23:48):
sure my first sports memory was the Jets winning the
Super Bowl in sixty nine, and by some grace of God,
maybe my last sports memory might be a Jet super Bowl,
not the Well, we'll just have to wait and see
if if these guys can draft. If not, you know,
(24:12):
let's go Islanders.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
You know Barry is sixty five. Do we think Barry
is going to see a Jet Super Bowl in his lifetime? Todd,
I'll start with you, not likely, Okay, seating Barry sixty five?
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Do you think you know? I like Barry?
Speaker 11 (24:29):
And that's the only reason that I'm going to say
yes is because I like him. But if you were
to ask my real thoughts, that might be different.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Marvin, how about you? No?
Speaker 12 (24:38):
All right, Paulie, Can I get the results of his
last check up in his diet?
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Are you healthy, Barry?
Speaker 8 (24:44):
Actually? Yes, My labs came in last week. My blood
my blood shuggared a little high. Okay, but my cholesterol
is back within normal so and long life lives in
my family.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Right? All right, let's put Barry it over under eighty five. Wow,
all right, so twenty years. We'll give him twenty years.
Speaker 11 (25:05):
I'm gonna say no, you know, if you just go
back the last twenty years. Yeah, well I'm gonna say no. Sorry,
Barry go Islanders. Darld Ben in Miami, Hi, Ben, went's
on your mind today?
Speaker 5 (25:21):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (25:21):
Dan?
Speaker 18 (25:22):
First time, long time five to nine and a soft
one seventy five. So I just wanted to point out
how funny it is how in the NFL. The NFL
is really the only league where they care so much
about winning, where if you're one player and Adam and
I Mitchell, you make one bone headed play, you lose
your team a game, not even a big game, a
regular regular season game. Now you're off the team. You
(25:45):
got to go play for the terrible Jets. You're not
welcome anymore. They haven't thrown in the ball in weeks.
It's unbelievable. I mean, it's one play. It just changes
everything in the NFL. When another sports you make a
bad play and then you know, every just moves on
so fast.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Yeah a d Mitchell, Yeah he got traded. I saw
social media, seid. Imagine going to bed at seven and
two or something and waking up one in seven or
whatever the Colts record is in the Jets record, juxtaposing
then I went to bed in first place with playoff hopes,
and then I wake up and.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
I'm gonna be a Jet. Yes, Martin, I'm.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
All right with him being traded, because you see how
angry people get when their team loses, especially even coach
Gannon with the running back at Arizona. They work six
days NonStop for this one game. It's not like MLB
or NBA. Oh we lost tonight, we got a game tomorrow.
We worked six days tirelessly. That's why. Also, don't take
the excuse I'd have my team ready to play. You
(26:39):
had six days. Get out here, m Yes, Todd.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
You can also look at.
Speaker 19 (26:43):
It the other way. Over the course of the year,
sometimes you get traded and you're on one of the
worst teams, and all of a sudden, you wake up
the next day and you're a playoff team or a
Super Bowl contender. So it's nice to look at the
glass half fall. Not in this particular instance, but there
have been times where someone was on a horrible team
and then next thing you know, you're on a great team.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
All Sauce Gardner did. Yeah, went from a bad team. Yeah,
he Where'd you find that example?
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Then?
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, it just happened. He went from the Jets to
the Colt.
Speaker 19 (27:10):
I was thinking more Quinn, but we should keep it positive.
That's think of the teams that go players that go
from worse to first.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Oh okay, yeah, Quentin Williams going to the Cowboys, another
run stopper. I'm guessing they're going to be great against
the run. The problem is they're not good against the pass.
But but you know, when you go back that Jerry
was teasing this that they were making a move. They
(27:36):
get the linebacker from the Bengals, you know, Wilson. But
that doesn't change anything. But you know, okay, Quinn Williams
is now is he twenty nine?
Speaker 3 (27:46):
He is turning twenty eight this season. Yeah, he's twenty seven. Yeah, yeah,
that's what I said.
Speaker 12 (27:52):
And he's got three more years left on his contract
and he's I wouldn't say a bargain, but he's completely
under contract and the Jets paid a lot of it
up front.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
But but he's not a sack guy.
Speaker 12 (28:02):
He actually was in the first few years of his career.
He had a great pass rush rate. Okay, as they
say on PFF.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Okay, but now he's going to be a run stopper, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
At least the Cowboys didn't spend a lot of money
on the defensive backfield.
Speaker 8 (28:21):
Diggs.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
They had like eighty interceptions a couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Oh, I know, and they paid him. They paid him.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
That's what makes it worse. You're spending a lot of
money on these guys that are just getting burnt tirelessly.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
I thought they were going to try to go all
in and get Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
I really did. Now, I didn't hear anything that you
know they were inquiring about that, but I would have
if you said I can have Quinnon Williams or Trey Hendrickson,
I'm probably taking Trey Hendrickson because we need a pass
rusher here.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
You already got your run stopper, right Marvin.
Speaker 4 (28:58):
I'm I think we kind of misrepresenting the defensive tackle
because the last couple of Super Bowls, what have you needed?
A great defensive tackle? And I think that's what they need.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Don't They didn't they get one from Green Bay?
Speaker 4 (29:11):
I said, a great one.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Whoa wait a minute.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
No, no, knock the cat class.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
He's a good player.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
I need a game changer though.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Now, okay, there's only so many Aaron Donald's and Chris
Jones out there. You gotta have You still have to
have a pass rusher, and they don't have that. All right,
let me see Gabriel in North Carolina.
Speaker 7 (29:33):
Hi Gabe, Hey guys, thanks for having me on first
of all the Jets. That is funny, and that's coming
from a former Falcons fan since nineteen eighty eighty one.
I had to give up on my Falcons until they
proved me otherwise. So I think that's what the fans
should do for the Jets. But also I wanted to say,
(29:54):
I think you guys should do something on the show
when it comes to the end, when you guys are
doing the round robin and what did we learn today?
I think you guys should have a compliment sandwich. Everybody
gets to do a round robin compliment sandwich. It could
be about Fritzy, it could be about a coach faying
something stupid like one day at a time. It's all
about the team, you know, do a DPSCs. So anyway
(30:17):
you want to throw that out there, Thank you guys
so much.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
All right, so we have to we have two and
a half years to come up with a compliment for everybody.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
It's a tight time.
Speaker 11 (30:30):
That's a tight time.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
By the way, I saw the calendars, the DP show calendars. Udity,
There is nudity.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
There is nudity.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
And when will they be able to pre order? Now
we're going to autograph. We'll have a certain number that
will be autographed, and then the regular calendars will be
uh there for purchase and in time for the holidays
as well.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Indeed, yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I'm going to guess here soon they'd be able to
pre order the calendars.
Speaker 11 (31:01):
I would guess extremely soon.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Okay, I would say, but they're great. It's a great calendar.
It's funny like your Marvin. Marvin hadn't seen it. I said,
just open it up and you started laughing. Uh, probably
at at least four of the pictures.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
There's a few months where it's like it's gonna be
a long month for somebody.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Yes, it's gonna be tough to beat looking at that picture.
And yes, there is nudity in the calendar. Uh maybe
not safe for work. Yeah, seton.
Speaker 11 (31:32):
It is one of the things over the years I've
looked forward to most because I'll take these pictures sometimes
and then kind of forget about them, and then all
of a sudden, my social media will blow up somewhere between,
like you know, May turning into June, and it's like,
oh god, can't I just skip this month? Like, oh,
that's right? Did do that picture?
Speaker 8 (31:50):
You still?
Speaker 2 (31:51):
I think you still have the greatest month, worst month
when you were the Turkey and you're on your and
your arms and legs are up and it is disturbing.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
I am.
Speaker 11 (32:05):
I am still somewhat proud of that picture. I got
to admit, I felt like we really nailed that one.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
It is disturbing. That's the year I switched the ham
a little Turkey with tattoos. Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
These are all iconic magazine covers. That's what the theme
of the calendar is. Fritzy did not disappoint, Seaton did
not disappoint. They're all it's really well done and it's
a lot of fun. But we're autographing those now. They'll
be available Danpatrick dot com and we'll let you know
(32:43):
when you can pre order, probably by the end of
the week, and if you want an autograph, one be
able to do that as well, all right, we'll take
a break. Just getting started here. More phone calls coming up,
and next hour, Albert Breer, the Monday Morning quarterback, will
assess what happened what didn't happen yesterday. We're back after
this with our play of the day.

Speaker 8 (33:24):
Check this out.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Harder sets up a screen.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Jenny raises to the basketball players.
Speaker 8 (33:27):
It out.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Name for three.
Speaker 15 (33:33):
Oh my goodness, Elizabeth, I'm coming again, Elizabeth. Oh Thecondiac
Bulls again?
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Is that Sanford and Son?
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah? Red Fox uh at Stacy King, the former Bowl
part of the Chicago Sports Network. I don't know how
many people get that reference. So certainly your modern NBA
fan is not getting that.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
But we got it.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
The Bulls, they seem real. They rallied from twenty four down.
Josh Giddy twenty nine, fifteen and twelve second straight double
triple double, the first Bowl to have back triple double
since Michael Jordan come on nineteen eighty nine. Play of

Satan.
Speaker 11 (34:37):
Would you update the pole results? Yeah, we got two
of them up there right now. If you're a Jets
fan today, you are right now. Sixty three percent are
feeling lost as opposed to excited for the future. A
lot of people saying, well, can it be both? Well, no,
because then that's not the fun of the poll post.
The fun of a poll question is and making you
choose one or the other. We also have up there
(34:59):
new one that was just sent over currently. Which is
the best state for football, Indiana or the field? The
field is winning early results, early results, But I don't
know that that reality bears that out.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Yeah, yeah, Paul.
Speaker 12 (35:14):
It's an easy case for Indiana. Notre Dame is in
the playoff picture. Indiana is the best college football they've
been in ever, and the cults are in really good shape,
and the entire state.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Is a good check. Okay, all right, that's a persuasive
argument there. Yeah, I'd love to hear the counter.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Okay, is there a state that has better football? It's
certainly not Ohio with Ohio State, the Bengals and the Browns.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Yes, I could take.
Speaker 12 (35:44):
It further that the state of Indiana is having a
renaissance of sports. The Pacers, I know the Halliburton injury,
but they're in very good shape. Caitlyn Clark, the most
popular female athlete in our country, plays in Indiana. All
their football teams are doing well. Baseball not some my,
but you know otherwise that state is having a renaissance.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Way, is there Triple A baseball in Indiana that maybe
they had a good year?
Speaker 16 (36:07):
Yah?
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Check it. Okay, let's see Sylvia in Fresno.
Speaker 13 (36:14):
Hi, good morning, Dan, Hi, Hi, first time. And I'm
a movie because my husband introduced me to your show,
so now we can actually discuss about things he is
listening to.
Speaker 20 (36:28):
So and today is my sixtieth birthday, and I was
wondering if the dentist and you can give me good
birthday green song.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Okay, did your husband get you anything for your sixtieth
He got me a very nice watch.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Oh oh yeah.
Speaker 13 (36:50):
And then our thirtieth fifth anniversary was two weeks ago,
so we're going to plan a long trip to Europe
maybe in the spring.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
All right, how about we gather around the campfire and
we sing Happy Birthday to Sylvia.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
I'm going to Europe. Got to watch Happy Birthday Sylvia.
Speaker 13 (37:16):
Thank you? And also, can I suggest for your last show,
please show up at your main cave and just turn
off the lights just to end, like you know, like
it should be.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Okay, Yeah, well, we're still working on that. We're workshopping
our last show. I mean, I have some thoughts if
it was back in the man Cave, but we will
be in Atlanta. That's what I talked about during super
Bowl week, which will be a little awkward because it's
super Bowl week, but we're also saying goodbye. But we
got time. We got time to figure that out. David
(37:53):
in Ohio, Hi David, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 8 (37:57):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Dan Ada?
Speaker 16 (37:58):
Comment about the calendars you were talking talking about, would
the month of February happen to be a picture of
Shaye lighting up a heater at the watch party because
that's the look of every Cowboys been in February because
they had nothing.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
To look forward to in that month. Than all right,
thank you, David. We didn't include Shane and Irving in
the calendar. Yes, Paulie, it's.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Kind of sad.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
I would love to he loves the nudity.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Uh, we don't need nudity from Shay, right, but he Now,
what's the born born in bread? Is that the tattoo
across his belly is?
Speaker 4 (38:34):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yes, it's like who had won their like tupac? Yeah, yeah,
that's sort of Shae and Irving's thug life that he's
got born in Bread across is belly.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
Yes, yes, paul.
Speaker 12 (38:48):
There's certain places where if you get a tattoo, you
got to put in some work the rest of your
life to keep that thing afloat, I guess would be
the right word.
Speaker 7 (38:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
I don't think he did. I don't think he has,
but it's there.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
But keep in mind he's got a gun tattooed on
the side of his head.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
Was that a forty five?
Speaker 4 (39:06):
It is?
Speaker 12 (39:07):
Okay, he's one of those guys if you saw him
on the street, you would not mess with him, like
just eyeballing him, like if there was a fight, like
not that guy.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Well, then he'll get a haircut where he shaves the
sides and he's got tattoos on both sides, including he said,
I don't know why I got a gun on the
left side of my head. So when the police stops
stops him and comes up to the window, first thing
they see is a gun on the side of his head.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
That's a tattoo. Yes, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
And what he does for a living does not match you. No, Like, whoa,
that's what you're doing? Yes, And if you meet his
wife and kids, you're.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Like, what what?
Speaker 16 (39:45):
What?
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Gambling podcast this week, we'll have it up on danpatrick
dot com. Actually we're gonna tape it today. It'll be
up at danpatrick dot com. Shayan Irving, bad Larry, and
of course Dylan from the Home Office, Andrew and Washington.
I Andrew, welcome back, Good morning.
Speaker 6 (40:01):
Dan Dennez, thanks for taking my call. Just got a
little common about the Dicky V Invitational last night between
Duke and Texas. My Dukie started out their twenty sixth
straight season with an win and they did a good
tribute to Dicky V from coach k Anyways, my other
thing was college football Playoff. Do you think this first
ranking that comes out all it is is all the
(40:24):
dignitaries trying to get the right teams according to how
they think it'll end up, so that they're all in place,
because it makes no sense for Notre Dame to be
intent when Miami, who has beaten Notre Dame and has
the same amount of losses, is eight spots down, but
yet they do honor a win against another team when
Texas is in front of Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Yeah, but it's the loss, the timing of the loss
for Miami. I would guess Andrew, they committee once Notre
Dame in the playoffs, they would love Texas in the playoffs.
I don't know if it's this is what we're hoping
it's going to be. I mean, you still have to
rank them in accordance to what they've done. But then
(41:03):
there's certain teams where you go, did they really play anybody?
Have you beaten anybody? And that's the tricky part. How
great is Ohio State? I think they're better than last year,
But have they proven that they're the best team in
the country by who they've beaten?
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Yes, Marvin, I'm sure the committee was thrilled to have
Virginia Memis.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
I know Virginia and Memphis could be making the playoffs.
Who won the trade deadline, who lost the trade deadline.
We'll have that for you coming up
