Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hope you had a great weekend. Gangs all here ready
to go. The lovely and talented Todd, Fritz Seaton, Marv Paulie,
yours truly, and the backroom guys a lot of football
to chop up. Baseball golf, Eagles over the Buccaneers, and
Chiefs handled the Ravens, Rams over the Cold Steelers beat
the Vikings, and we had a tie last night. I

(00:27):
think that's the highest scoring tie in the history of
the NFL. There's a tie that I believe it was
forty three forty three in the AFL, and it might
have been with the Boston Patriots, if memory serves me correctly.
But in the history of the NFL, forty to forty
is the highest tie in history. Merchandise store open for

(00:49):
business and you can go to Danpatrick dot com. Stat
of the Day is always brought to you by Benini America,
the official trading cards of the program. It's a best
and worst of the weekend. Phone calls always welcome eight
seven to seven three DP Show operator Tyler's sitting by.
He'll take your calls. First hour brought to you by
the folks who've been doing it for over forty years

(01:10):
tire Rack. They've been helping us find the right tires
for how and what and where we drive, ship fast
and free back by free road hazard protection, convenient installation
options like mobile tire installation, tirerac dot com. The way
tire buying should be. Football coming up tonight. The Jets
are on the road, but only a two and a
half point underdog against the Dolphins, and the Bengals are

(01:34):
getting seven and a half at the Broncos. I was
thinking about the Bengals after watching what the Ravens did
the Browns and the Steelers. The Steelers are going to
have another winning record. I don't think they're a dominant team,
but they could steal the division. If you look at
the Ravens, that defense has been terrible, and even with
Lamar Jackson in in Kansas City, they were getting blown out.

(01:58):
Now he may have an injury that'll keep him out
for a little while, which brings me to tonight. The
Bengals might be wasting a year. If you have a
chance to go out and get Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson,
he's going to give you a better chance because now
if I look at the division, the Ravens don't feel

(02:19):
like Super Bowl contender anymore. You got the Steelers, who
are going to be good. I don't think they're great,
but they're beatable. And then you have the Browns. But
if I'm the Bengals, you signed up everybody, your best defender,
your best receivers, everybody's under contract. Maybe if you got
a quarterback in there who could be an upgrade, you

(02:41):
could steal that division. And Jake Browning is not played well.
I think that they're confident with him. I don't think
they want to spend the money either. With Kirk Cousins,
Russell Wilson, you could probably have you know, maybe it's
a fifth round pick or a sixth round pick, but
you could at him. And if you're the Giants, you

(03:02):
like what you saw with Jackson Dart and you got
Jameis Winston as his backup. But I was wondering about that.
If you're the Bengals, do you survey now that division?
Everybody's been outscored in that division and it doesn't seem
we thought it was going to be a great division
right now it's not. But take a shot. Do you
want to waste another year and Joe Burrow maybe could

(03:25):
come back in the playoffs, maybe with that turf toe surgery.
But I was thinking about that that that might be something.
If you're the Bengals, Okay, you know, we should kick
the tires on this because we have a chance here,
a lot better chance than people thought. All right, after
what happened over the weekend, the Super Bowl odds updated

(03:48):
by DraftKings. The Bills are the favorites, followed by the Eagles,
Packers and Ravens are tied, and then closely behind is
the Lions and then the Chiefs. Interesting that the Chiefs
now feel like, okay, you get Xavier Worthy back and
all of a sudden, because that offense wasn't very threatening,

(04:09):
now all of a sudden, you give Mahomes a playtoy.
Rashid Rice will be coming back soon. Now we're going
to get a true sense of is Kansas City still
that elite team or one of those elite team teams?
The Chargers they charged you were three and oh and
this is you know, you go west coast to east coast,

(04:31):
you have an early call time, you're going against a rookie.
And I thought Jackson Dark played well enough to keep
them in the game, justin Herbert did not play well.
And you know it's three and oh against Owen three.
That was the surprising part of that that the Giants
are the first oh and three team to beat a

(04:53):
three and o team since two thousand and eight. Stat
of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the

(05:15):
official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. But if
you look at this, if you're a Giants fan, and
you go, okay, we didn't like our quarterback situation. All
of a sudden, maybe Jackson Dart is our future. And
although they lost Molik Neighbors, he's probably gone for the season.
You've got a really good defensive line, got rookie contracts here.

(05:38):
I mean the Neighbors thing is big because he's a
great receiver. And when I saw him go down, I thought,
uh oh, I got an acl here. But Jackson Dart
athletic enough keep things alive. He's got enough swag. You know,
he's not afraid. And I like what I saw him,
so did his head coach. Here's a Brian and Dable

(06:00):
talking about Jackson Dart.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I got a lot of confidence in our rookie quarterback.
But he's a rookie quarterback, so there's gonna be mistakes
that be made. We know that there'll be more next week.
There was some this week. It's not gonna be perfect.
Kid's a competitor. I'm sure he'll be the first one
to tell you there's a lot that he can do better.
We got to continue to help him do it better.
But like his traits.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I like his toughness. I'm glad we got him.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I like when I see I can't imagine what Russ
is thinking on the sidelines. It's like a boy. He
had a touchdown run, touchdown pass, and it's over. Johnny
so happy I made this possible for him. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Yes, but with attitude and gratitude you can get past
these situations.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Well yeah, he's gonna have to have both of those
to be on the sidelines there.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
I would imagine in the NFL there is no more
supportive backup than on any team than Russ. He will
give you the impression that yet, yes, one hundred percent,
you will no doubt.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yes. The cowboys in the Packers. It's one of those
where you have a great meal and then there's no dessert.
It was like, man, that was good. You know, I'd
like to have a nice piece of carrot cake. Oh,
I'm sorry, we don't have dessert. Forty to forty and
it was fun. I thought the Cowboys were going to

(07:24):
win the game. We had a semi streaming party last
night with Shyan Irving and Dylan Marv was here and
I said to Shay, hey, you should feel good. I
think the Cowboys are going to win this game. He
goes Danny and I go, no, I do I think
they're going to win. And then at halftime Dylan and
Shae were like, do you really believe? I said, yes,
I think the Cowboys are going to win the game.

(07:46):
And then they were going to take the halftime odds.
I don't know what they bat or you know, if
anybody won anything. But we were watching and I thought, okay,
they stood that first quarter or so, and then I thought,
all right, there turned back and if I'm a Packer fan,
my defense is supposed to be great. It wasn't great.

(08:07):
Dallas's defense is bad, and we knew that worse than bad?
What is what is worse than bad?

Speaker 7 (08:15):
A sieve?

Speaker 2 (08:18):
It just felt like anytime Jordan Love wanted to throw deep,
you know, it was like, oh, there were two guys
that you know, that first pass that they threw, there
were two guys that were open. Somebody needs to tell
Golden this ain't Missouri, this ain't college. You can get
away with those things when you're returning a kick.

Speaker 6 (08:39):
Or he got rocked on that play, absolutely crushed.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Are you doing spinning? I know he did a little
pirouette and then he also caught a path and then
he tried to go, you know, like I'm gonna reverse field,
and I go, you can't get away with that.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
By the time his eyes came back around, he just
saw a gigantic man his face helmet to helmet with him, and.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
That was, yeah, brutal. It's like, but you know, it's
a tie, And a lot of people probably were like,
wait a minute, Yeah, in the regular season you can
have a tie, not the postseason. Here is Jerry Jones

(09:22):
talking about a tie and taking a shot at his
former player.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
I don't want to play.

Speaker 8 (09:29):
That game was probably a great game for the NFL
as far as the showcase for the game and competition,
because you had outstanding quarterback play, you had some very
talented people out there playing. You certainly had one of
the most expensive players in the history of the NFL
out there playing, and so I guess everybody was going

(09:50):
to take a look tonight and decide to see what
a fall there?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Why Why is he taking a shot at Michael Parsons here? Yeah, Paul,
if you.

Speaker 9 (10:01):
Watch that game, though, Parsons got bottled up for the
most of the game. And by the way, I'd like
to file a little protest, that was not a sack
on that last play. No, it was Dak Prescott was
running forward, which does not nullify a sack. But he
just crossed the line of scrimmage and I looked at
the spot. The spot's a foot ahead. So that means
if you cross the line of scrimmage, is not a sack. Yeah,
but a lot of people cash that check yesterday.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yeah, but it was I think it is over. It
is over. Under was three quarters of a sack. Does
that sound right, Marvin?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I know Shay and Dylan one took the over, one
took the under. But yeah, no, it was fun to watch,
you know, certainly back and forth it was just forty
to forty. Yes, ton you said it was.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
Like not having getting dessert afterwards. I would go even
a step further, especially for those of us on the
East Coast that stayed up fully after midnight. That's like
being handed the bill as well at the rest of
what No, you're not getting deserted, you're paying for everybody
sitting there and watching it ending the time.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Here is Micah Parsh talking about is late game tackle
with the game on the line.

Speaker 10 (11:06):
It's just all about not letting my teammates down going
on every play. You know, I owe it to every
person in organization, every person in that locker room, to
get my absolute best every time. So I don't look
at the play as like, you know, I think like
I'm here and on this podium, because I'm supposed to
make that play, not because it's like, oh my god,

(11:26):
he made a play, Like I'm supposed to make that play.
I'm supposed to help our defense. That's the reason why
I was brought here, Like making places what I'm supposed
to do. Taking eight over games is what I'm supposed
to do. I don't think that like I should be
rewarded for that play, like that's the reason why I'm here.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
I agree should have made some more plays that would
have helped, but that defense, I was a little surprised
there that and you know, and they're not they don't
have CD, Lamb. Pickens played great, Dak played really well well.
I thought that, you know, once again, offense seems to

(12:03):
be okay. But CD's going to be out for a
few more weeks. But Pickens played well, Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 9 (12:09):
At the end of overtime, the Packers cruised down the
field and third yeah, and just they're all set. But
then on third down they don't make it. So it's
fourth and fourteen, and it appeared that they didn't even
consider going forward on fourth and fourteen.

Speaker 7 (12:21):
Why don't you go for the win there? If you're
the Packers.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Now, I guess it's a horrible defense. Yeah, you got
to come out with something. You can't come out with
a loss. That's too far to go for fourth down.
I know it's the Cowboys, but I and you're supposed
to go for the win on the road, but it's
got to And I don't know what the analytics would
say with that, like I and maybe it says no

(12:46):
certain yardage you don't or certain place on the field.
I don't know that, but I understood what they were doing.
I didn't like that they were going to do that,
but that's just me as a fan. You can't come
out with a law us. You can't put up forty
and come away with the loss. And I think if
you're Green Bay, you got some work to do here.

(13:08):
And I don't think we thought that after we saw
what they did to Detroit, and Detroit all of a
sudden has come back. And I mean, granted they're playing
the Browns, we don't know what we have with Minnesota.
I think that's another one to keep an eye on
because you know, this isn't JJ McCarthy yet. Carson Wentz

(13:29):
is a good backup quarterback, but he made some really
bad mistakes late in the game there. The numbers are
deceiving there. But now you got to wonder, JJ McCarthy,
you're going to be able to play and you know,
injury prone, that's a good team. They're ready to win.
Now it's sort of like the Bengals that you know,

(13:53):
now you've got to find out do you bring in
another quarterback? Are you comfortable with Carson Wentz. I don't
know JJ McCarthy's time inframe here, but watching that, I
was like, I don't know, I'm not quite sure all right,
we'll come back. We'll get to our poll question. There's
baseball to talk about, golf to talk about, college football
to talk about, and we will talk to you about

(14:15):
that with best and Worst of the weekend. What you
saw that you liked you didn't like. Shan Irving will
join us to recap the tie. We're back after this.

Speaker 1 (14:25):

time for. Yeah, you blubber lit lame and me.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 11 (15:02):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna

it on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 12 (15:38):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
It was last week when Paulie said that he thought
he had witnessed the greatest throw in the history of
throwing Justin Herbert. He rolled left, he threw back right
through a touchdown pass. We talked to his head coach,
Jim Horrible about that throw, and then Paulie goes, I

(15:59):
think I found a better throw than Justin Herbert. I said,
wait a minute, wait a minute. You you declared this
the greatest throw in the history of mankind? Did it
last a week? It lasted a week. Okay, are you ready? Yes, Okay.

Speaker 9 (16:14):
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys second and seven in overtime,
thirty seven, thirty seven. He rolls right and gets rushed.
He starts rolling backwards and right and he has to jump.
He's about to get hit in the chest. He throws
the ball from his forty seven to the three and
hits Jalen Tolbert. It was unreal.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
That's the greatest throw ever.

Speaker 7 (16:37):
Maybe throw catch combo.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Oh, now we're doing combo.

Speaker 9 (16:42):
When I saw the ball being thrown, I'm like, well,
that's a throwaway. That was silly, and not many guys
can make that. He's so strong, but that is it
may be better. It's the greatest throw of all time.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
Ever, and I'll never replace it until next week.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
I just sent it to you, guys. I think it
was a inspiration. Heave.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
It was, but he kept it alive.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Receiver had to come back and it was a receiver bailout.
I'm gonna I'm gonna give credit to the receiver rboever
bail out. The greatest throw I've ever seen. I go, yeah,
justin Herbert, No, I've got a new one. Top seven
all times. Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 13 (17:21):
So, it's the combination of greatest throw and greatest reception.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Is that what we're saying? I guess now, Okay, regular
season on a side and a game that ends in
a tie. Yes, by far the best time. Okay, all right,
can we come up with something. NFL's in the entertainment business.
PAULI has had an idea about getting rid of ties,
regular season ties in the NFL, and I think he's
onto something, but I think it needs to be workshopping

(17:49):
a little bit more.

Speaker 9 (17:50):
Okay, Briefly, before game starts, each head coach gives to
the refs what their kicker can max out as a
kick if the game goes to overtime ends and a tie.
It's very it happens three times a year maybe, And
so Brandon McManus and Brandon Aubrey.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Right, mister McManus.

Speaker 9 (18:06):
So Aubrey's head coach would say, my guy can hit
it from sixty eight yards. McManus's coach would say, I
can hit it from sixty six yards. Nobody knows. And
at the end of the game last night, instead of
everyone going, oh, it's a tie, the announcers would have
revealed that Cowboys have the ball with a chance to
kick a sixty eight yarder for the win or the
loss with Brandon Aubrey because they said they would go
for the farthest field goal to end it. They line

(18:27):
up against the Green Bay Packers defense and it's a
real field goal try. He makes it, they win, he
misses it, they lose. No chance of a tie in
an NFL game.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Your thoughts, Now, we're kind of tired of things coming
down to a kicker, so I think he got to
be aware of that that were kickered out, then we
would have to go with the college way, where you no,
I don't want that, which is a two point conversion
over and over and over until somebody wins. But college
football does not have ties anymore. Okay, how about we

(18:57):
do this. Let's say we start an elimination where you
started the fifty five yard locke a kickoff, Yes, and
there's no defense. I just put the kicker out there
with the holder and the long snapper.

Speaker 9 (19:12):
I like your idea, but I think the purest will
be mad that there's no defense out there for the
chance of the block, and there's been more blocks this
year than in the past ten years. But both work
because it prevents a tie.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, we got to workshop that a little bit, yes, Tom.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
And with no defense, then it's just like one of
those college game day kicks that's just got to make
money through a scholarship. You've got to got to have
something competitive going on. And what happens if both coaches
picked the same yard line for the kick, then they
both get it, you have to kick it. And then
if they both make it or miss it, then you
got to you know, then.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
You know, we got to work shop this right.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
Yeah, So I don't like the idea of picking your distance,
but I do like the idea of it coming down
to sort of a field goal off. I do like
that where I say, I like the two point conversion thing.
Too endless two point conversions until somebody wins. I like
that a lot a lot. But if maybe if you start,

(20:06):
say like at the thirty, and each team kicks from
the thirty, and then you go to the thirty five
and each team kicks, and then you go to a
forty and you have to go until a team misses
and the other team makes it, I could get behind that.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
I think it would take too long for that. I
think let's you can build the drama at fifty because
it feels like man, fifty fifty used to be a
long field goal. Now it's not. But I think you
could go fifty fifty five, then get to sixty, and
then go sixty one, sixty two, sixty yes time.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
And each team's allowed to do the leverage play that
got burned by I guess the culture.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I think you should be able to do. That would
make it exciting. You can climb on top of each
other to try to block it. Yeah, I'm that situation
in the yell.

Speaker 9 (20:51):
But my kickoff you have the reveal of the yardage,
which the announcers can do. That build some anticipation, and
it's over in sixty seconds. Okay, someone's lining up, miss.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Block, hit it, But then you're gonna If you miss
the kick, then I have there has to be a
score that is revealed that says I won the game.
It's going to be forty forty.

Speaker 9 (21:14):
So obviously, if Brandon Aubrey hit last night under my
new plan, which is gonna happen, it'd be forty three forty.
If he misses, is it forty forty? What do they
do with Seaton parentheses? Parentheses one minus three.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah, see, that's an ugly box score. We worked that out.
I think you're on the I think you're on the
scent of it.

Speaker 9 (21:37):
Because remember, Americans hate ties. It's the only sport in
our country really where you could have ties and know hockey.
There's no ties in hockey at all anymore. Right, even
the regular season shoot shootout, so they got ties used
to be commonplace in hockey generation.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Uh Shyan Irving joining us on the program. How do
you feel after the tie?

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Let's feel disgusted, Davie, feel sure you're appear I feel weak,
I feel sad. I feel emarriage to be a part
of something that allows that.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Yeah, but you there's some positives there. I mean you
didn't lose.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
I'll tell you the one positive, Jinny, the one positive
is that the unemployment line should have one more person
in it. That clock operator needs to be investigated. You're
in overtime with the magically one second left after Jordan
Love gambles, No boot replay, no nothing they do right
over it. Where's he from, who's he married to? Where
do you go to school? What's his browsing history? I

(22:35):
want to know everything about that man.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Wait, it was a home game. It was a home clock.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
I know.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
But Dallas is a Trasia city, Danny. I'm all over
the country living there. I want to know.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
I did tell you that I thought the Cowboys were
going to win that game.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
You did master domas. It's weird. It's strange, but yeah,
you call the whole lot of weird things right in
front of my eyes. I know.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
There were a couple was I go, you know what,
blah blah blah, and then all of a sudden it
would happen, and then shaved. I said, no, these are
all positives. Man, you're gonna you guys are gonna win
this game. You can win this game, and then you, guys.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Danny the way to let it. Josh Jacobs is running
wild in my dreams right now, all over my hopes
and happiness. They could not stop him for the run
or anything. They don't deserve to win, but they sure
Kaill doesn't deserve to tie. Danny. That's weird. We don't
like that. Get it away from us, Keep it in Europe.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Now, did you get credit? Did you win your bed
with Michael Parsons with the one sack?

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Yeah, they gave me credit for that.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Yeah, that's not a sack.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Whatever, Danny.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
But it wasn't though, uh cash money, I know, but
still wasn't a sack, you know that?

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, well whatever, all right, Uh well we'll do another
streaming party here soon, semi streaming party that right. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 9 (24:02):
Paulie, a guy I know, emailed me about a half
an hour ago, hurt us on the air. The stats
in the NFL are not made official until Monday. They
sometimes tweak things. It's not that big of a deal,
but the stat people the NFL, they like stamped the
stats in the history books on Monday and Tuesday.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
I'm not gonna say pending, but prob.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Okay, so Shay may not win that pen. There is
no way that we could go live, right Marvin live?

Speaker 4 (24:34):
What U?

Speaker 13 (24:35):
No, no, no, none of the streaming absolutely not no, heck no,
I know, but DP hold on, hold on. But you also, between.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
You and Shay, well, I'm just trying to tee him
up a little bit, just trying to get him going
a little bit.

Speaker 13 (24:51):
Because there was some back and forth between you two.
I was like, between the two of you, there's there's
no way that's a kila look good.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Though I know I had some tequila, had a great cigar.
We ordered Taco Bell late night. Nice, yeah, Dylan. Dylan's like,
yup for tacos, Like probably not three tacos later, I'm like,
thank you Dylan for getting some tacos there. It's nice.
All right, Seeton poll question for the first hour and
what are you thinking?

Speaker 6 (25:20):
Well, I think we start with the worst of the
week worst of the weekend. Okay, got some options here
for you. We could start with maybe Team USA and
Keegan Bradley. That was a rough weekend, rough weekend all
all around there.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
You know, the players at least came back and made
it respectable. The fans did not the but you know,
this is the environment that you know, we've embraced, we've
encouraged for the last two years. Oh wait till about
the fans. Yeah, wait till a Ryder Cup gets to
Long Island. Bethpage Black and it's become WWE type field

(25:58):
now it shouldn't. And somebody throwing a beer at Rory's wife,
things that were said out there. You know, now it's
going to be incumbent upon the European team when this
is played in Ireland in two years. To say, let's
show how you know, you can still root, have fun,
have a you know, a great atmosphere without it being

(26:20):
personal attacks on people. But once again, this was the
build up, this was the hype. If you're a fan,
You're going out there thinking, I'm defending my country here,
I'm going to be yelling. I'm I'm going to be
part of the team here, I'm going to wrap myself
in the flag. And you know, it got ugly, but

(26:42):
you know, Team USA was playing horribly and the Europeans
were celebrating the Team USA made it respectable. But this
is the atmosphere.

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Yes, Ton, there's always that group of people that I'm
just looking for a reason to act obnoxious and be stupid,
as opposed to any kind of pro America kind of
rant going on. That's just a little sidebar you can
hide behind the flag. I just want a reason to
scream and yell and be a jerk to people.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Paul.

Speaker 9 (27:12):
It's weird because the usual golf crowd, there's an etiquette
around being at a golf event. You kind of dress
a certain way, you act a certain way, you're quiet
during the backswing, and it's like these golf fans they
throw all the rules out because it's the Ryder Cup,
and it's it's weird because it's the opposite of a
normal golf event.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
I don't think these are golf fans, right, because if
you go to the Phoenix Open Waste Management, it's a party.
That's that's what. That's the reason why you're going. It's
a party, and you'll act accordingly. It's a party. But no,
that's not the way you act normally. But and it's

(27:49):
you know, it shouldn't be an indictment on everybody who's there,
but it feels like it is. You know there there's
always going to be that element because you allowed that
element unless you're you know, escorting people out. There is
that element there. But Team USA made it respectable. What

(28:10):
else do we have?

Speaker 6 (28:10):
Yes see Keigan Bradley getting blamed a lot too on
the course setup.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Yeah, yeah, he talked about that that it didn't play
the way he thought it was going to play and
didn't favor the strengths of Team USA. You know, Europe
just played great, They played unbelievable those first two days
and then all of a sudden, USA came back and

(28:35):
acted like they were great players. It just you see
what the Ryder Cup means to the Europeans, to Shane Lowry,
to Tommy Fleetwood, to Rory it just means more. And
they showed that. I mean, they talk about that Shane

(28:55):
Lowry won a British Open and he said, this is
what I want. This is the more, this is what
I'm most proud of because it was a team effort.
And I think that is sometimes lost on us in
what we want with our team when they're talking about
getting paid. Who likes one another? You know, they put

(29:16):
aside everything team Team Europe. You could feel it and
it's you know, it's tangible.

Speaker 13 (29:23):
Yes, Marvin, that feels like that's the case in most
sports where you talk about even like the Joker, he
wins the NBA title, oh hohum, whatever, but he wins
something for his country. It feels like he won he.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Won a medal, He won a bronze, didn't he.

Speaker 13 (29:38):
Yes, And he felt like he won the gold medal. Yes,
Because to them it feels like international competition for their
team and for their country is way more important than
the Masters or the British Open or the US Open.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Well, it's like Djokovic when you know, I was told
that if he wins Olympic gold, it'll mean more than
any of the majors he's ever won. And that's what happened.
He talked about that. But you know, keep in mind
that the Europeans have always been the little brother, or
at least perceived as a little brother. But they're not.

(30:12):
And I think you saw that that there's that, you know.
So they were big underdogs, and I think it was
all you're going to get eaten up by New York.
You know that team Scheffler. Nobody can beat Chef. You know,
all of these things leading up to this, and I
think they were like, all right, well we'll see and
then all of a sudden, you know, it's a snowball effect.

(30:33):
When one wins, another one wins. Somebody makes a putt saying,
you know, the roars or the lack of roars around
that course, SCHAMPOLLI.

Speaker 9 (30:41):
The next Ryder Cup September seventeen to nineteen twenty twenty
seven a dare Manor in Limerick, Ireland. Are we still
in business? We're still in business. I just checked the calendar.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Are we still in business?

Speaker 7 (30:53):
We should grow out.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
I've been to a dare Manor, played the golf course there.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
Gorgeous, right, yes, awesome. You should show us around there.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, I'll show you around my manner. Yeah, dude, that
would be sick. And then we would be on in
the afternoon. Right, we could do that, dude, that would
be great. You kidding? So when is that going to be?

Speaker 9 (31:17):
September seventeen to nineteen, twenty twenty seven, lots of time
to plan.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
But I'm done in February twenty twenty eight. Yeah, five
months later. That's a nice one to put on the
count Oh boy, is it ever? See and fire that
one up? I've been writing it in pen not even pencil. Yes,
we could all write limericks Limerick, Ireland and now went out. No, no, okay,
we'll go on pros and cons. That's fine. It's fair
to do smart.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
You don't do limericks in Limerick, Ireland.

Speaker 7 (31:44):
All right?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Maybe one maybe one a day?

Speaker 5 (31:47):
Yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 7 (31:48):
He could drive the Maco van overseas.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
Yeah, we get it on a barge and barge it out.
I like it be there in two weeks. Bring a tragger, grill, yep,
ready to go?

Speaker 7 (31:57):
All right, that sounds good.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
I'll take that under consideration. What other poll questions are
we thinking we haven't even gotten through the first one. Dan,
we scratched the first the surface on the first one.
Then how about I take a break to give you
a little more time. Hey, if that's what you want
to I'm going to do that. I got to get
to phone calls here and uh, you know, there's a
lot of things, there's a lot of moving parts to
do it. Busy Monday. I'm sort of the conductory and

(32:21):
this is the orchestra.

Speaker 6 (32:24):
Mm hmm is this first chair, second chair?

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Yeah, yeah, something like that strings obo. I wonder if
you could do that and still pull it off, like
if you got up there and then just started, you know,
with the wand a little bit.

Speaker 9 (32:41):
As a conductor, Yeah, it's basically a four count.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
But if you're you're already knowing what the music is
and then you're just looking at me for timing.

Speaker 9 (32:51):
You're kind of writing a plus sign up to the
right to the backing up and down is the fore
count for a conductor.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
But I would be that mad. Yes, I'd like Bradley Cooper. Yes,
I would have long hair, and I'd be I'd be
really demonstrative with it.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
All.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Right, let me take a break. Uh, play of the
days up next to your phone calls settle on a
poll question after this.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Of the day left.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Play.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
This is the play of the day.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Check this out.

Speaker 14 (33:37):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
Snap block.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
Bears blocked the kick.

Speaker 14 (33:41):
They blocked the field goal on fourth to three for
thirty two seconds to go in the game. The Bears
blocked the kick. It might be Josh Blackwell. Gotta see
the replay to make sure. But the Bears are celebrating.
They're gonna sneak out of Allegiate Stadium for the twenty
five twenty four wins.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
That's courtesy of the Bears Radio network. That was win
number one hundred in the regular season for the Chicago Bears.
Eight hundred, eight hundred regular season wins. That's franchise win
number eight hundred, one hundred. Will be that bad after
eight hundred, Yes, honey, aren't they just compilers?

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Though? With that, you know, I played.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
For a certain number of years. The ended around a
long time. Eventually you'll get there. Eight hundred regular season wins.
How many block kicks do you think there have been
so far?

Speaker 15 (34:36):
Paul nine, Marvin eleven, God seven, Seaton five sixteen nine
field goals, three extra points, four punts so far.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Only once in the last thirty five years have there
been more blocked kicks through the first four games of
a season, and that was in twenty four. Team at
the Stat of the Day SAT Play of the Day.

Speaker 9 (35:33):
Yes, Paul, is somebody smart to look at this stat.
I have a theory on the block kicks. Kickers are
trying longer kicks with a lower trajectory, giving more odds
to getting it blocked. Could that be possible? I don't
know how many of these kicks are fifty plus?

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Okay, but how does that factor in with extra points
and punts? I don't know.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
Those are anomalies.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
Well, maybe you have you know, there's a certainly a
science to this it's rare when somebody off the corner,
off the edge, and that's what happened with the Bears
off the off the edge. Now it feels like up
the middle is where you're getting a lot of these blocks. Uh.
Gerald McCoy is going to join his son Loan from
NFL Network coming up next door. Oh ask him all right? Uh,

(36:17):
Buddha in San Francisco, Hi, Buddha, what's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Happy Monday? Boys?

Speaker 12 (36:23):
Every day is a super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Let's go baby.

Speaker 12 (36:27):
Damn what a month Green Bay has had. I mean,
like they went from being a juggernaut to losen to
the Browns, and then last night happens. I mean that's wild.

Speaker 16 (36:37):
And uh, when the Dallas Cowboys tie, it's like following
Fritzy in the fast lane, frustrating U best of the
weekend and Dallas versus Packers coming to an end and
end in the tie, and.

Speaker 12 (36:51):
It was just it was a very entertaining game. And
listening to Jerry Jones sound like doctor Phil and just
like spilling and uttering words and being long winded as
always entertaining and the worst of the weekend. Then while
watching the Chargers lose yesterday to a rookie quarterback in
New York. I couldn't help but hear your voice in

(37:11):
my head, Dan, like you've said it so many times
on the show, like you just can't jump on that
padwagon anymore. I mean, fool me once, Shame on you.
And they just lose in such like chargery ways and
they disappoint not good.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Thank you, budhen Yeah, I'm watching and I kept waiting
for Justin Herbert to be Justin Herbert and it never happened.
But he got hit twelve times. It's it's hard to
play the position and get hit twelve times. I know

(37:50):
the offensive line is a little banged up there, but
twelve times. Giants defense is good, but it's not that good.
All right, Seaton, did we settle on a poll question? Well,
we're kind of going over worst of the weekend. Let's see.

Speaker 6 (38:04):
We did Team USA and Keegan Bradley with Sam Pittman
and Arkansas football. They got absolutely crushed by Notre Dame
and he got fired. Yeah, that's unfortunately. You know, the
Giants had a win, but elite neighbors being hurt, that's
not that's a terrible weekend. Yeah, terrible, Kirby smart number

(38:25):
five Bulldogs. They lost to Alabama. They're still having a
great season, but that's a win you want.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, you lose at home? Done done, a stay of
execution there for Kaitlin de Boor.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (38:44):
Yeah, that's a week to week basis right there. Let's
see some other options. We got Florida State, they got
double overtime loser to Virginia on a Friday night on
a Friday night. Good grief Penn State and James Franklin
overtime loss at home to Oregon.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
And I'm going to bring this up to Rick Neuheisel.
He'll join us later, but is being good good enough
at Penn State? Now? You know, granted everything that happened
with Paterno and Jerry Sandusky and just having a program
that is clean you can be proud of, and they

(39:21):
certainly have that. They they've sent a lot of players
to the NFL. But I mean the numbers, it's not coincidental.
This is, you know, habit forming, it's systemic. When you're
four and twenty one against top ten teams under James Franklin,
you got to win this, got to win this. You're
at home, you got to win, you know. Congrats to

(39:44):
the Ducks who have won twenty three consecutive regular season games.
All right, somebody, but.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
That's where.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
If if James Franklin had these numbers at Michigan, he
wouldn't have his job. At Ohio State, he wouldn't have
his job Alabama Georgia, he wouldn't keep his job. But
maybe it's just they're good. But is how long is
good good enough?

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (40:12):
Pauling in twenty twenty one, he was seven and six,
and there's a lot of articles that said, this is it.

Speaker 7 (40:17):
He's gone.

Speaker 9 (40:18):
The next three years he won eleven games, ten games,
thirteen and three last year in a college football playoff.
You know, it's like he's not giving them the opportunity
with a bad season.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Gus in La Hi, Gus will squeeze you in Best
and Worst of the weekend.

Speaker 17 (40:32):
Good more than mister Patcher. I hope you and the
boys had a great weekend. Let's get the worst out
of the weekend once again, my USC Trojans showing the
nation why we're not serious title contenders. And then late
last night in the little worst of the weekend, Juju
Watkins out for the whole theason that pretty much put
in extinguishing hopes on our title chances. Best of the weekend.

(40:55):
My Steelers started off with a great day of football.
But how important and we just talked about about the
field goals, But how important or how frustrating our special
team's becoming. It's like, is it a simple fix?

Speaker 2 (41:10):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Like a dear guy? I mean even on the extra point?

Speaker 17 (41:13):
You know that Cowboys extra point, that two point are
determined to score at the end. How important is going
to be? The embarrassing of the weekend at a night
Mitchell run with the damn ball all the way through
the goal line.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Yeah, that was tough to watch. Yeah, the ju Ju Watkins,
you know she had surgery in the off season. Gonna
be extra cautious here. She's gonna miss the entire season.
That's shame. That's shame. All right, one hour of the
