Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Made it to a Tuesday, Dan and the Dan Nuts
Dan Patrick Show. This is our last show before the
Christmas holidays. And I thought, we won't have a meat Friday.
How about a meat Tuesday. Biscuits and gravy, steak and eggs, bacon,
hash browns. Who who has it better than we do?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Nobody?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, Dylan's out there whipping up breakfast a brunchie, and
I thought, why not festive holiday spirit?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah, Paul, did you say biscuits and gravy? I did
say biscuits and gravy.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
It's like we're.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Hungover and we're going to the waffle house at seventy eight.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Well, it's a meat Tuesday. Come on in, stay a while,
we say good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank
you for downloading the app. You can watch all of
this unfold. You can even tune in and see Fritzy's
festive hat that he has on. Also my Rootolph the
Red Nose Reindeers sweater that I'm wearing as well. Age
seven seven to three. DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com,
(01:06):
Twitter handle a DP show whole question play of the day,
stat of the day, all of that forth coming forty
nine ers over the Colts. Rock Party throws for five touchdowns.
The Niners are now eleven and four, the Colts are
eight and seven. There was a point in the season
where the Colts were seven and one. We were talking
about Super Bowl contender, home field advantage, maybe MVP candidate
(01:31):
and Jonathan Taylor, and then all of a sudden, it
went south. Not AFC South, but south in the AFC South.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
The Niners.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Meanwhile, they lost Bosa, they lost Fred Warner, they even
lost Perdy Brandon Ayuk is a no show this year,
and then all of a sudden they end up eleven
and four. So if you go back to earlier in
the season and you go, okay, where are these two
teams headed? The Niners could host the Super Bowl. It's
(02:04):
in San Francisco, so technically they will be as a
franchise hosting the Super Bowl. They could have home field
advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, and I could see them
in the Super Bowl or bowing out with their first
playoff game. I really don't know how good they are,
but let's count the number of teams that you could
(02:25):
say that about Steelers. All right, another winning season, maybe
you win the division. You could lose in the first round.
How about Carolina or Tampa they could lose their first
playoff game. Jacksonville could lose its first playoff game. I
guess the Eagles could. Although I think the Eagles, you know,
(02:46):
could turn out to be the best team in the NFC,
Like they might figure it out here and then they
could be the best team in the NFL. The question
is it's just been choppy, it's been uneven and you're
not quite sure. But that's why you bring up the playoffs.
I don't know how good the Texans are. I know
they played extremely well. They didn't play well earlier in
(03:07):
the season. Now they're playing well. Buffalo. Buffalo's a wild
card that's dangerous as well. The Bears. Are you all
in on the Bears? I mean this season, you're not
quite sure. Like New England Drake May big moment. Is
he going to be a great, you know, an MVP candidate?
I don't know, And that's why these playoffs will be
(03:30):
wide open, fascinating. We don't have Kansas City. Now it's
open for everybody in the AFC. But you know, we
saw Denver lose and get blown out by fourteen at home.
I have no idea, Chargers, I have no idea. Seattle,
I have no idea. You think you got them figured out.
(03:51):
We thought we had the Colts figured out. We thought
we had the Niners figured out months ago. But your
opinion in October, my opinion in October doesn't mean anything.
It's fun in the moment to say, boy, Daniel Dimes
is doing great work. You got Jonathan Taylor, They're gonna
(04:11):
give their quarterback a Sam Darnold kind of contract. And
then all of a sudden he's not around, and you
bring in Philip Rivers, who last night played pretty well.
And it might sound strange to say this, there were
some moments where he was the best player on his
team last night. But where was the defense that was
(04:33):
in Seattle that kept them in that game? Because it
wasn't there last night. And give credit to the Niners
because you score points in twenty three consecutive quarters. The
punter hasn't punted in the last two games.
Speaker 5 (04:54):

He wanted to know if it's possible to go back

last year and he could be back to backrio. Yes, Todd, where's.
Speaker 6 (06:05):
The line of demarcation for the director's chair and room
to the back room moving? That's that gets a little
confusing for me, a backroom guy versus the Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I'm the one it has to decide, not you.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
That's tricky.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, you just take care of you, and you.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
Will provide any thoughts as to how you draw that
that police line.
Speaker 7 (06:23):
Do not cross on a yellow tape.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
If you're out here, you're not back there. And if
you're back there, you're not out here. Do you understand that?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
I do.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
But there's like that middle room between here at the back,
but they're not out here, they're not all right there

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Todd, I'll start with you.
Speaker 6 (06:58):
I'd like to wish everyone a happy, healthy holiday season
and a happy healthy new Year. And I hope everyone
has a relaxing, fun couple of days or weeks, whatever
time you have.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Do you anything you'd like to? Yeah, I know, let's
just speed it up. Okay, everyone a happy healthy Marvin,
you got anything grateful either way? Thank you?
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Paul Fritzy stole the minimum kindness attitude.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
I can't do it all right? Poll question? What are
we going to go with?
Speaker 8 (07:24):
Seaton would you like Todd's Grinch poll questions? We're gonna
gorinchy a little bit?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
What we do?
Speaker 7 (07:30):
Okay, little wise a wise acre?
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Okay you ready?
Speaker 7 (07:37):
Yes, okay? With regard I was ready for some kind
of drums or music.
Speaker 9 (07:40):
With regard to travel over the holidays, this show before,
it's my first thing. With regard to travel over the holidays,
I prefer to have family and friends come to me,
take a trip to see loved ones, be left alone
all together?
Speaker 7 (07:55):
Should I just continue reading?
Speaker 6 (07:59):
In general, the holiday season makes me feel very cheerful, depressed, anxious, peaceful.
How much holiday gift buying do you do this time
of the year? A lot, very little, none. I don't
want to give or receive anything.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
Thank you? What do you do with those pos?
Speaker 6 (08:17):
Look at me and my family seasons greetings cards, display
them around my home, throw them in the trash, wonder
if they're even remotely close to being as happy as
the photo portrays.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
And put in the recycling. That's pretty good.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
And the final one was when greeting cards sent my
way list all the awesome things happening in their lives
and how blessed and grateful they are.
Speaker 7 (08:37):
I'm inclined to think.
Speaker 10 (08:38):
Good for them.
Speaker 7 (08:38):
They deserve all the happiness.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
In the world.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Bleep them. That's going to be short lived. Karma is
a common wow, hesus greetings.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Okay, any other pole questions? Seaton?
Speaker 8 (08:54):
Well, you know, I do think it's interesting for the
holidays if you'd rather host or travel, because if you
have to go to someone's house, you can always just
you choose when you get to leave.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
How far do I have to go in my travels
because you get on a plane, you go to the airport.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
And anything less than two hours.
Speaker 8 (09:16):
I'd rather host it. Anything less than so you would wrap.
But if you had to fly somewhere, then you're kind
of stuck there.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
No, I'm not going there. Oh you don't. I don't
want anything over two hours. I don't want any Yeah,
yeah I would. I would host it then, yeah, yeah, yeah,
but no going to the airport.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
No, he've been driving. No.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
No, And I've already hosted the Christmas party. Now I
have to host my wife's family coming up on Christmas,
so I get to double duty.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
You get to do yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Get to have that permanent smile on my face. I
am merry Christmas. How har are you come here.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Oh wow, what did you bring?
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (09:59):
You brought some cookie? That's nice. I like cookies. Yeah,
what I like?
Speaker 8 (10:06):
The best things about hosting is but I endless supply
of an array of cookies.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
I could go without the cookies if it meant going
without hosting the party. Like it's not a boy man,
I'm going to host because I get to have some cookies.
Speaker 7 (10:18):
You a trade.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
By the way, holiday sports names they are ready, Todd
has reminded me, and he's tried to add a few
new ones. Let's have a build up, you know for that, Todd,
you don't want to give that to them right now.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Okay, so maybe we'll do that next hour.
Speaker 7 (10:36):
Okay, we could do that.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Jason Garrett on loan from NBC will join us. Reggie
Miller will stop by as well. I have I don't
even know if it's a dark horse candidate for the
Michigan job, but I'm going to have that for you
coming up in about ten minutes. And I don't have
any information on it at all. Well let me let
(10:59):
me let me rephrase that. The person who I spoke
to about this, I don't know if they had information
on it as much as just a educated suggestion. How
about that educated suggestion? Now, the latest rumor mill is
Jeff Brahm at Louisville. They're going to try to make
(11:21):
a run at him, or they're vetting him. I think
was the description, I would not hire anybody. There's a
mess going on inside that athletic department right now. They
are looking for names. There could be a purging going
on in there, and if I'm a coach, I don't
want to walk into that. We don't even know what
(11:45):
else is attached to Sharon Moore. We don't even know
is the athletic director going to keep his jump. There's
some people who need to be held accountable for everything
that went on in there. And if I'm a coach,
a big time coach, I don't care what you're paying me.
I don't want to walk in now. A year from now,
(12:05):
now you can get my attention because if I'm Michigan,
I wait.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I was told they want to have a coach.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
They wanted to have a coach by their bowl game,
which is December thirty first. I don't know if that's
going to happen, because once again, you're walking in to
a book that is still being written, and you may not.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Like those final chapters here.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
So I would stay interim head coach, play your bowl game,
clean up whatever you need to clean up, and then
all of a sudden, you can have this. You can
be open for business the entire next season. Then maybe
you can pick and choose who you want. Maybe you'll
have coaches who aren't just using this to get a
(12:47):
contract extension. And that's what happens, these guys who are hey,
I never interviewed there, but they're getting contract extensions. You
want to find somebody who really wants to coach Michigan.
But I'll have that suggestion for you coming up eight seven,
seven to three DP Show email address, DP at Danpatrick
(13:07):
dot com, Twitter handle a DP show once again Reggie.
A little bit later on, we'll hear from Philip Rivers.
Jason Garrett on loan from NBC Sports will stop by
as well. Byu is taking USC's place against Notre Dame.
The former USC great Keishawn Johnson had some strong words
about that.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
We'll have that for you coming up.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
We'll take a break this Tuesday, Dan and The Dan
Nets Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Pauley Fools Go here with Tony Foodsco. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Paully and Tony Foodsco Show.
Speaker 11 (13:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Patrick described us when he came on
our show.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.
Speaker 7 (14:00):
What are you doing interrupting our promo?
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, he wasn't talking about you. You took those clips
totally out of context.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Oh yeah, Well after this promo, I'm going to take
you out and beat you.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Let me put this into context. Shut up.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Pauly and Toni Fusco
Show on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 7 (14:20):
YEA.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
One of my college sources said to me yesterday we
are having a discussion about a variety of things, and
he said, I got a name for you. And he said,
I've spoken to somebody at Michigan about this name. This
person has not been interviewed, but this person does have
ties to Michigan. The name is Brian Greasy, former quarterback
(14:47):
at Michigan. He was instrumental in developing Rock Purty with
the forty nine ers. He did take this year off
to be with his family. Now, I don't know anything
more about that situation other than would Brian Greasy be
somebody that you could bring in. He's one of your
own former quarterback there and maybe he could help ease
(15:10):
in transition in Now. That's all the information I had,
But the more I thought about it, with Brian Greesy
former analyst for the Mothership Monday Night Football and then
helping Kyle Shanahan with the Niners in Brock Purdy, he
doesn't have head coaching experience, I don't even know if
he'd be interested. Maybe you interview him, but I haven't
(15:33):
seen anything heard anything other than that. But that was
told to me yesterday by one of my college football
sources who did speak to somebody with Michigan about this topic.
I don't know where it went from there or internally
how that was received. But Brian Greasy does he want
(15:56):
that job? Would that interest him? Would Michigan be interested?
Because I do think you got to be really careful
right now, And as Paulie says. The Michigan job is
kind of like when you go to a restaurant. You're
waiting for a table and you see the table that's
got drinks on it and food napkins, and they go, oh,
you'll have that table. We're gonna wait, how about you
(16:18):
clean up the table and then we'll go sit down.
You can go there, sit down now, No, no, no,
that's the way I would view this. Michigan is a
table that hasn't been cleaned yet, and I'm going to wait.
I'm going to wait before I sit down and take
that job. Yeah, Pauling, And.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
That has to be what Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State
was thinking, because any other time, if Michigan called the
Arizona State head coach, he's going. But right now, Arizona
State is a safer play for your career than Michigan
is in the month of December.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Well, he can leave in a couple of years and
take another job. I mean, nobody's attached to any of
these jobs. So Dillingham is going to be wanted by
you know, schools from now on. As long as he
continues this pace, this energy, this excitement, He's going to
be a wanted man, and he's young, is he thirty five?
(17:10):
He's going to make his money and then all of
a sudden he might say, Oh, there's an opening there,
I'm going to take that job. That could happen, all right,
eight seven to seven to three, DP show email address
Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show Notre Dame
in USC that rivalry is ending. If USC was still
(17:31):
in the PAC twelve, then this rivalry would not go away.
But the fact that USC is in the Big Ten,
their schedule is so much tougher. They don't want to
have another tough game because the Big ten schedule is
already tough enough. If they were in the PAC twelve,
this rivalry would continue. But it's going away, and Notre
(17:51):
Dame has just signed up to face BYU the next
two years. Keishawn Johnson, former USC trojan, this to say, Man,
you know what.
Speaker 10 (18:03):
I've heard it off, seen it all. I can't believe
what I just heard. But I just heard that we're
not playing Notre Name. I think that the series is
getting ready to end, like in the next year or so.
Here's what I'm gonna say, Man, I don't know what
the f is going on with our athletic department.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Okay, we got people.
Speaker 10 (18:21):
In there that are not Trojans, that don't know anything
about being a trojan. Running our athletic department. We got
a head coach that knows nothing about being a trojan.
Why don't we just not play football? How about that?
We running from teams? Now we running from Notre Dame,
Alabama Harbor. Okay, they ain't canceling that. Why would we
(18:45):
cancel our biggest rivalry because.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
We can't beat them.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
I don't think they're going to drop football, Keishaan. But
if I'm a USC trojan, I'm alumni. I like what
I'm hearing. Here are we running away from Notre Dame? Yeah,
it certainly appears that way. Notre Dame didn't say we
don't want to face you. It was like, I guess
we're not going to continue this. It's because look at
(19:15):
the schedule we have. When we were in the Pac twelve,
we had room for you. In the Big ten, we
do not. Stat of the Day is always brought to
you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the
Dan Patrick Show. By the way, I mentioned at the
start of the year that Christian McCaffrey would be my
guy for the Offensive Player of the Year. I don't
(19:37):
know where he ranks right now with the odds to
be the Offensive Player of the year. Who would be
a better choice because it's always a non quarterback, or
usually a non quarterback who wins the Offensive Player of
the Year. I got Christian McCaffrey for NFL Comeback Player
of the Year. He is number one, and a big
(19:59):
number one, follow by Trevor Lawrence and then Philip Rivers
and then Dak Prescott. But McCaffrey is minus seven hundred.
He's got a big lead for Comeback Player of the Year,
then Trevor Lawrence and then Philip Rivers and Dak Prescott.
But I'm wondering Offensive Player of the Year. Is there
somebody who was having a better season than Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Paul based off a few different sites, the oh poy
JSN from the Seahawks, a lot of people like him,
jamiir gives it a Lions. Jonathan Taylor's kind of off
the board there. McCaffrey is in the top five, Puka
Nakua is in the top five.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Okay, yeah, I don't know what the odds were to
start this year. But if you look at what McCaffrey's doing,
and he's clearly not what he once was, but if
you still see what he does, it's incredible. Like I
said this yesterday, you watch the Niners and you go,
I don't know, you lose your two best defensive players.
(20:57):
They spent money ill advance on Brandon Ayuk Debo's gone.
I mean, you use Christian McCaffrey, you're going to run
him twenty five times. You're going to try to get
maybe eight to ten receptions out of him. Kittles played
really well. They've had two different quarterbacks this year and
(21:18):
they won eleven games, and they could if they went out.
They're the number one seed in the NFC, and I
wouldn't be surprised if they.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Lost their first playoff game.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
I don't know how they're doing it, but it's an
impressive You know, they're a top ten offense and you
just wouldn't you wouldn't think that. And brock Purty played
really well. But Mac Jones is brock Perty's older brother.
I mean, they're basically the same quarterback there. But you're
watching the Niners and I go, they could end up
(21:50):
with the home field advantage in the Super Bowl if
they get there. And then with the Colts, I was
just waiting for a little bit of defense because Philip
Rivers played pretty well. Here is Rivers after the loss.
Speaker 12 (22:07):
This is the National Football League, and you've all dreamed
of playing in this game as a kid. And if
someone asked you again, you know, would you play if
you all were going to be four and two and
fourteen like some of these teams are, if you had
two games left? Heck, yeah, what do you mean? We
get to play an NFL football game again? So I
think those are the two simplest routes to say. But
it's the first and foremost our job to go sick
and you know, do the work we've been asked to do,
(22:29):
and and you know we've come up short, but what
we've been asked to do is give our best effort, and.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
So that's what has to be done.
Speaker 12 (22:36):
You know, these next few days of preparation, which on
a short week with Christmas on Thursday and then a
division opponent this on fire right now, so we'll have
to bounce back in a hurry.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Haven't heard a couple of analysts this morning and last
night say would the cold spring back. Philip Rivers says
they're starting quarterback next year, and I'm thinking, no, no,
this is an emergency. You know, break glass in case
of an emergency.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
If you can't find a quarterback walking somewhere on planet Earth.
That says a lot about the front office. Philip Rivers
has been a wonderful surprise, a god send for the team.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
But no, you're not bringing him back.
Speaker 13 (23:25):
Now.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
I hear Steve Young, who's sixty four. He says he
could come back and play. Brady says, I could come
back and play. Auto Graham's not alive. I don't think so.
He's not coming back. Sammy Baw is not coming back.
I gotta get I gotta talk to Steve Young. I
(23:47):
love you, Steve, but at sixty four, probably not a
good idea Brady. I still think Brady is the Raiders'
best quarterback. And now you've got that big showdown between
the Giants and the Raiders this week could be for
the number one overall pick. Do you think Fernando Mendoza
is going to be watching that game just in case
(24:08):
he could end up in the Silver and black. Now,
the Giants already have their quarterback if they have the
number one pick in the draft. But then you know
that's something that you could really add some pieces to
your team.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
You could trade that pick yes time.
Speaker 6 (24:23):
And is Mendoza Raider material? He's so clean cut to
go to the Silver and Black and all the things
that come with that history.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
They're not like that anymore.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
No, But when you think about that, at least I
do that the problem.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
They're not like the way they used to.
Speaker 7 (24:36):
Make But it seems like the evil Silver and Black.
That's not where Mendoza is.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Well, they got Tom Brady is their owner.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
But he's in the background.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
I don't know, maybe not too much more in the background.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Speaking of Kyle Shanahan, he talked about his team's performance
and doesn't want to talk playoffs right now.
Speaker 14 (24:57):
Last night was the first time I mentioned anything about that,
just because we we got in the playoffs last night.
You know, I told him all year, I don't want
to talk about that, and but last year, last night
we got in, so I was able to talk about that.
And when you know you're in the playoffs, that then
you shipped your goals next and that's trying to make
the playoffs the best situation we could possibly do. So
love to try to try to play a home game
with Levi's and the only way to do that was
(25:18):
to win the night versus the Colts. And we got
that done, and we got a lot to the Divers Chicago.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
We got the Bears in Seattle.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
You got two playoff teams and if you get through
through those two, there will be the number one seed
in the NFC. Back to Philip Rivers, Rob in Boise
joints us Hey, Rob.
Speaker 13 (25:38):
Dan, good morning, first time, Long time five eleven and
the Stage two ten. So after the game last night,
sitting there with my son listening to Joe Buck comment
on how he thought these last two games were kind
of a feather in the cap of Philip Rivers and
he was now considering him to be a big quarterback
(26:01):
and he just doesn't pass the stiff test for me, Dan,
I don't see him opening the box with the yellow jacket,
And I just wonder at your thoughts. And I also
thought it'd be a better poll question than anything that
Fritzie came.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Up with this morning.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Fritzy probably hurting his chances as most valuable Dannet with
those grinchy kind of poll questions A.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Secured negative little bit. Yeah you did, but I think
some of those questions had to be asked. We're all
thinking about it in the back of my mind. No
one verbalizes them.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
I did like your Christmas card one where you're looking
and you have that family is so happy?
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Are they always this way?
Speaker 6 (26:38):
They're in Italy somewhere there's an ocean in the background
where really nobody's not happy.
Speaker 7 (26:42):
Remember if you won the lottery, And even then I
don't even know.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
I do have an acquaintance their Christmas card. Nobody smiles,
No one smiles. Just the kids, no one smiles. And
they always give you a lyric of some famous song.
And I think that they don't smile on purpose, because
I've been around their kids and they are, you know,
(27:07):
very animated, friendly, smiling, but they do not smile.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
It's almost like, you know.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
The old pictures that you saw with your grandparents or
great grandparents, nobodys smiling.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
No one's smiling at all. That's what it feels like.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
And then there's always like a paragraph out of you know,
a U two song.
Speaker 6 (27:26):
Yeah, yes, Marvin, I mean my family, we don't smile
on our Christmas cars either.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
But we're a different breed. Why don't you smile?
Speaker 7 (27:35):
I mean, well, we did the death Row.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
We never try to make it. Oh, season's greetings. Now
we got two pot quotes over here.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Chris and Syracuse. Good morning, Chris. What's on your mind?
Speaker 11 (27:49):
Thanks?
Speaker 15 (27:50):
Dan?
Speaker 7 (27:50):
Hey?
Speaker 11 (27:50):
First, first off, I want to apologize for yesterday's awful
phone call. I've been around long enough. I should know better,
stay topic and keep it brief. It's very simple, so
I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (28:01):
Dan.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Hey, Hey, it's all right.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Thanks Dan.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
All Right, you've had so many great calls.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
Don't worry about that, you know, give us kind of
like Tom Brady losing a super Bowl.
Speaker 11 (28:14):
Okay, every day is the super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Yes it is? Thanks Dan?
Speaker 15 (28:19):
All right, Hey, you.
Speaker 11 (28:20):
Covered both my topics and Notre Dame and the forty
nine ers not punting, So I guess i'll throw out there.
DK medcalf two games suspending. He's going to lose over
a half million salary. I mean, I don't know what
he was thinking. Just do what the NBA players do.
Point out the fan who's crossed the line. In security
will squirt him out. And I also heard during last
night's I think it was during the broadcast. Sam Fran
(28:42):
called Philip Rivers a few of your few years back
during the Trey Lance Stays and Dan, Merry Christmas to
you and your family and thanks for all that you do.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Thank you, Chris. Yeah, the Niners reached out to Brady.
They reached out to Philip Rivers. DK Metcalf's confrontation with
the Lions fan will cost him over a half a
million dollars in salary. Now he's going to appeal the
two game suspension. I thought he would get one, he's
getting two and conduct detrimental now voids at least forty
(29:16):
five million dollars in future guaranteed money. This according to
CBS Sports. Now he can get that back. But according
to CBS, his contract says that he fails to practice
or play with the club for any reason, player suspension
by the NFL or club for conduct detrimental, his guarantees
(29:37):
will be null and void. The avoided guarantees are more
important than twenty twenty seven twenty million dollars in salary
has been injury protected. If he suffers a major injury
in twenty twenty six, then he would be guaranteed twenty
million dollars now he can still get this back. I
don't think the Steelers are going to move on from him.
(29:58):
But he is twenty eight years of age and he's
having I guess you would say, the least productive year
of his career. He's got fifty nine catches eight hundred
and fifty yards, so that would be the lowest numbers
in his seven seasons there. But you know, I don't
know how much that has to do with the offensive
philosophy of the Steelers having Aaron Rodgers there. But DK
(30:22):
metcalf is going to cost himself. It looks like at
least a half a million dollars. Dave in Arkansas, Hi, Dave,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 16 (30:31):
They call me Pittsburgh Dave, and Merry Christmas to you
and everyone there. I've got to get in my votes.
Todd the most valuable done it just because he likes
Zubaz just like I do. I got a brand new
set in just the other day.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Least valuable dune it.
Speaker 13 (30:51):
I gotta give it to Marvin.
Speaker 16 (30:53):
I mean, he probably couldn't even hold onto the trophy
anyway with the small hand.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Wow.
Speaker 17 (30:58):
But DK Metcalf.
Speaker 16 (31:02):
I read a lot on social media yesterday about we're
being picked on. Jamar Chase only got a game. How
come DK's getting two games and I'm sitting here going no,
you can't involve with a fan. It just is the
line you do not cross. I have no problem with
the two game suspension. It's going to hurt us. I
(31:25):
think we can live without him to beat Cleveland. But
it comes down to the last game of the year
with Baltimore, I'm a little worried. But again, everybody, have
a merry Christmas and we'll see y'all next year.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
All right, thank you, Dave.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah, Pittsburgh still feels like they're going to get in.
I mean, Baltimore feels like a mess. Like I don't
know Lamar Jackson situation, Derrick Henry not playing after scoring
a touchdown. Did he take himself out of the game,
Was he hurt?
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Just it's odd.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
It's just an odd and now you're probably seeing similar treatment.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Maybe it's not as vocal.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
John Harball as the coach of this team moving forward,
just like Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh. But Mike Tomlin's riding
the ship. You know, another winning season, gonna make the playoffs.
That looks like and you're gonna have home field advantage.
And the fact that they won that game in such
a dominating way. I mean, the running game was unbelievable.
(32:31):
And if you have that now, they'll get TJ. Watt back.
And you know, maybe Rogers sprinkles in a couple of passes,
and maybe you're dangerous. Maybe you win a game for
a change. All right, we'll take a break. We'll settle
on our pole question. Todd's got his holiday sports names
Jason Garrett Little. Later on, Reggie Miller will stop by
(32:53):
as well. Up next, our player of the Day. Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
Oh My God of the.
Speaker 13 (33:11):
Day, looks my God. Play This is the play of
the day.
Speaker 11 (33:18):
Check the shout rivers out of the shotgun, takes the snap,
quick throw them the.
Speaker 10 (33:21):
Battle otter step in.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Day Winners has got it.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Day Winner's going the other way.
Speaker 8 (33:25):
Winners to the forty twenty thirty.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
No one's gonna touch him, does it?
Speaker 4 (33:30):
But the tail lights heads up peck six forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
That's courtesy of the Niners Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
That's the twenty sixth career pick six Philip Rivers has thrown,
second among active players Matthew Stafford thirty one.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
It's your play of the day. Play of the Day
brought to you by MAKO.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
Hey, they got a paint sale going on right now,
dench Dings Chip Paint. You can give a little love,
a little cosmetic surgery to your car from dense to
faded paint. They got you covered. Literally, get a free
estimate today. Uh oh, better get MAKO. I felt bad
for Rivers with that throw because it shouldn't take away
from what he was doing in that game, and you know,
(34:15):
you're trying to make something happen desperation time.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
But the Niners turned it into a pick six.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
But he played pretty well once again for somebody who
has no arm, that's all just smarts, that's knowing the game.
That's unbelievable. And Troy Aikman talked about, you know it's
three seconds or less. You've got to get rid of
the ball three seconds or less. And that's what he's
going to do for these next two games. You're not
(34:42):
going to get to him. I think he got sacked
once against a team that had like fifteen sacks going
into this game. But he knows what he's supposed to do.
The question is can he continue to do it? Is
he able to get away with some things? And he
didn't get away with that? Pas Andrew and Washington, Hi Andrew,
(35:03):
welcome back, Good.
Speaker 17 (35:05):
Morning, Dan Dennett's thanks for taking my call, and a
happy holidays to everyone, especially in the words of Adam
Sandler and Marry Everything. Hey just had a quick stet
of the day at the end. But yeah, the Niners
looked really vulnerable last night, almost maybe their best game
of the year. I know they don't even have all
their players healthy just yet, but they look like a
real contender. Rock Purties five tds, the first time in
(35:30):
Niners QB has thrown five tds in a game since
Friend of the Show Steve Young in Super Bowl twenty nine. Guys,
thanks for another great year.
Speaker 15 (35:39):
My votes.
Speaker 17 (35:40):
Most valuable, Dan Seaton. I think it's downplayed how much
it takes to drive a van across country meet the
sponsors for the show. Come on, guys, nobody else is
willing to do that. Least valuable Fritzy. I love you, buddy,
but we haven't had that explosion of content like we
have in past years. So hey, just my vote, sorry guys, all.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Right, some strong comments, right, yeah, yeah, all right, Andrew
with a vote for Seaton and a vote in a
negative way for Times.
Speaker 7 (36:08):
Back to Santa's Workshop for me.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
Yeah yeah, Paul, that was kind of harsh, a blanket
over the entire year for Fritzy, that was mean spirit.
I don't agree with it.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Uh, Johnny Oh in Michigan, Hi, Johnny.
Speaker 7 (36:22):
Man.
Speaker 15 (36:22):
I'll tell you what you know, first time caller, a
long time listener, six foot one, two hundred and five pounds, Now, Dan,
I just I wanted to bring up something that you
brought up yesterday, and that was the whole Jake Paul fight.
So I agree with you. I think it's great for entertainment.
But I served four years in a Marine Corps and
during that four years I got the box and you know,
(36:45):
it wasn't very good at it. So I picked up
the microphone and I and I started announcing. And I've
been doing that for about eighteen years now. But you know,
when you talk about boxing, you're talking about you know,
Arturo Gaddi, Katya Zoo Zoom and Nelson, you know, Holy
of Caesar Chavez. You know, obviously to Mayweathers, but man,
he's the pride of Zanesville, Ohio. He's the undefeated, the undisputed.
(37:07):
Dan and much adore Patrick, love you guys. Keep up
the good work.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Thank you, Johnny, thank you like that.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah, man, I was treated to great boxing when I
was working in New York and you would have Hagler
and Hearns. You'd have Vito and a Fermo, Roberto Duran, Sugar,
Ray Leonard, now, all these middleweights. And then then I
was around Tyson, Jerry Cooney, Ken Norton. Uh. There was
(37:37):
just so much great. These were great fighters. When you
went to a fight, you knew it was going to
be a great fight. Now unfortunately, I mean give credit
to UFC. They've they've they've taken all of the spotlight there.
The personalities are there, what Dana White has done, you know,
boxing misses Bob Aram and Don King. And I never
(38:01):
thought I would ever say that, but I am saying
that having been around Don and Bob Aram. You need
the hype and they don't have that anymore. And I
don't know if you have people growing up, kids growing
up wanting to be a great boxer because they may
say I want to do mixed martial arts, may want
to do UFC, but I got to see, you know,
(38:23):
a few heavyweight title fights, and so you know what
the sport can be. I just don't know if it's
going to be that ever again. And there's you know,
there's a lot of reasons for that, but I was
treated to some great great boxing Mark and Saint Cloud.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Hi, Mark, welcome back.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Hey Dan.
Speaker 18 (38:46):
Last week, did you say and were you against college
football players playing like fourteen or fifteen games to determine
a champion.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
I just want to make sure we have some kind
of cap here, like how many games are going to
be enough to decide this because I know with you know,
the smaller school's FBS and you know, they play a
lot of games. I just want to make sure that
we understand what's at stake. Somebody might go to class,
maybe they might go to class. I don't know if
(39:13):
they do anymore, but maybe we need to treat him
kind of as college students. Yeah, so you had a
problem with me last week.
Speaker 18 (39:22):
A little bit because D Three's been doing this for years.
I mean when I started in two thousand, following Saint John's.
We went five states, five weekends and had a blast.
Lost the national championship. Came about union, But they're doing
it and there are true student thats. These kids go
to class and I just beg to differ with you.
I think it can be handled. And D one, you know,
they're flying, they're pampered, they've got all the money in
(39:44):
the world. D three, you're taking buses everywhere if you're
going within six hundred miles, five six hundred miles. Otherwise
you do get to fly.
Speaker 13 (39:51):
But hey, here's the.
Speaker 18 (39:52):
Other thing, Dan, you said when you were tired, you
wanted to go to all these D three or all
these football stadiums.
Speaker 13 (39:57):
You haven'ty other chance to go to.
Speaker 18 (39:59):
I want to personally invite you to Collegeville, be part
of the tailgate. In addition to that, I want you
out there flipping the coin to start the game.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
And this is Saint Cloud.
Speaker 18 (40:10):
Collegeville, Minnesota Collegeville. It's just down the road from Saint
Cloud Saint John's University. Great tailgate. Love to have you
a couple of years. We can plan it out. Let's
get her done.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Thank you, Mark, thank you.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Yeah, I don't I want to see some of these
rivalry games. I want to be able to go to
certain places that I was never able to go. And
there's a few feel on my list. Yeah, palling Saint
John's University.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
I just looked it up.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
The town is called Collegeville.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
I mean, it's a what's more college than that?
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Doesn't it sound like a doctor Pepper commercial? Pepper?
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Yeah, welcome to Collegeville? All right, one hour in the books,
two more to goo. Yes, Fritzi will have his holiday
sports names. Okay, and you have one more hour to
vote because eleven am. Eastern voting is closed. Most Valuable,
Least Valuable, dan Net and also I'm picking the most
valuable back room guy. There's a lot of tension, a
(41:05):
lot of drama, some backstabbing going on, and I love it.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
It's content.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Jason Garrett will join us Reggie Miller in the final
two hours.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
Satan Fritzy, Pauline Morvin, Yours truly,
