to watch us at the Fountain Blue and it was
great to connect with the fans and very patient because
I said, once the show is over, we'll take pictures
with everybody, and we were able to accomplish that and

(01:52):
hopefully I left my strep throat in Las Vegas as
I was struggling to the finish line. You know, I
don't sound very good today, feel better, but Friday was
a little iffy there. Wednesday was a little iffy. But
if you come down with this call go to a
doctor immediately. Do not wait and go ah it'll pass,

(02:14):
because this has been hanging for two weeks and you
might need a shot or two. All RIGHTY eight seven
seven three DP show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com Twitter
handle a DP show RG three will join us a
little bit later on Rick Neuheisel, college football expert for CBS,
will stop by as well. Panthers and the Niners coming

(02:34):
up tonight. And oh, by the way, moment, the Raiders
have fired the offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly. You may not
have known that he was with the Raiders. He was
with Ohio State when they won a national championship and
probably tripled his pay going to the Raiders as the
offensive coordinator. And he has been fired Chiefs over the Colts.
We wondered. We wondered about the Colts in a big moment.

(02:56):
You're up twenty to nine, this is yours, this is
your You're going to do the rest of the NFL favor.
You're going to beat the Chiefs at the Chiefs and
all of a sudden you lose that game. It's a
double whammy, I think for the Colts because you just
don't want to keep the Chiefs alive. You don't nobody

(03:17):
wants them alive in the AFC, and you kept them
alive when Mahomes had the ball, I said they're going to.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Win this game, and that's exactly what he does.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Daniel Jones, you kept waiting, and then all of a sudden,
it felt like that offense went stale, went conservative, and
the Chiefs. You know, the Chiefs are playing playoff football
right now. They have to because they're not a great team.
They're not a very good team, but they're an opportunistic team.
As long as you have Patrick Mahomes, you have a chance.

(03:49):
The receivers are pretty good, defense is pretty good, and
you got Andy Reid as well. But the Chiefs could
have done the AFC of favor there. Cowboys over the Eagles,
that's one of those where you go, wow, that was quick,
twenty one nothing but give credit Dak Prescott. This is
what we asked for with the Cowboys. That offense has
been elite. All you're looking for is an average defense,

(04:12):
and you're down twenty one to nothing. They looked average,
below average, and then all of a sudden, they made
some big stops, they got some turnovers there, and the Eagles,
once again, we have questions about them, got big questions
about that team. Here is Brian Schottenheimer talking about Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
He's one o ki man.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
He really is.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Just his leadership is poised, the way he plays the game,
the way he always believes. You know, you talk about
when some of your best players are the guys that
believe the most, and they know that they're going to
find a way and help raise the other guys to
raise the standard.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
And we've got a lot of guys like that now.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
But I know he won't say it, but that's a
pretty cool record that he broke into. Do it on
a game like this where we beat a really good
fotball team the way we did, I'm sure makes it
even sweeter.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, he passes Tony Romo on the all time list
yardage list there with the Dallas Cowboys. But you're watching
this and I kept thinking, Okay, Saquon Barkley did even
get to thirty yards had a fumble. I don't know
how much blame you're putting on the quarterback or you're
putting on the offensive coordinator, but feels like there's enough

(05:24):
blame to go around. You know, all of a sudden,
AJ Brown scores a touchdown. I go, all right, everybody's
going to be happy today.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
And then all of a.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Sudden, Dallas played playoff football, because once again they're in
playoff form, or at least mode. You have to win. Now,
they have a couple other tough games coming up. You
got the Chiefs coming up on Thanksgiving, you got the
Lions after that. Let's just say they win those games. Now,
all of a sudden, you got a real conversation here,

(05:53):
and that Chiefs game against the Cowboys will be probably
one of the top five most watched regular season game
in NFL history because it's Thanksgiving, it's the Cowboys, it's
the Chiefs. I had a couple other games that stood out.
The Rams looked tremendous. The Buccaneers are banged up, and
Baker Mayfield may have gotten banged up in the process.

(06:16):
But Matthew Stafford right now, he is a clear favorite
for MVP. Bears beat the Steelers. Steelers without Aaron Rodgers.
There but Patriots, Lions and overtime, the Packers, Seahawks, Ravens, Browns, Jags, Falcons.
As far as the Browns go, you got enough out

(06:36):
of shoot or Sanders. I think you got almost one
of those morale boost Like you got somebody who's going
to come in. He's excited, not afraid to throw the
ball downfield. He did okay, he did okay, and it's
one of those where he helped the team win. They
didn't win in spite of him, but that defense is great.
That ten sacks, and this is where we almost look

(06:59):
at the opposite of the Dallas Cowboys. If the offense
is average with an elite defense, they should be really good.
It's just they haven't had the offense. But you know,
he had three big plays. And what stood out is
gonna sound strange. He didn't run, he didn't try to

(07:20):
do those crazy let me extend a play like I'm
you know, back at Colorado. I think he had one
rush for a minus one yards. He didn't have an interception.
But I mean, you're playing against the Raiders, who weren't
very good, but you know, you should win those games,
and they did, and give credit to him, had a

(07:41):
couple of big plays and for the most part, that
defense was wonderful and because of that you got that victory.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Now, as far as.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Who's going to start, I mean, that's gonna be the
big question for Kevin Stefanski, because, yeah, Dylan Gabriel because
of the concussion, wasn't playing. You're not supposed to lose
your job because of an injury. But in this case,
I want to see a little bit more of Shadoor Sanders,
and I think he's earned it. I don't think Dylan
Gabriel's done anything where you go, yeah, you got to

(08:11):
go back to him, you don't. I would let Shadoor
Sanders play again, but I hope that we're just letting
him play. Let's not have any stupid hot takes today. Okay,
he's he's just a quarterback right now. He acted like
a fifth round quarterback and he got a chance to
play with the first team. They had a game plan

(08:33):
that they could give to him for him, and they
ended up winning that game. They got the Niners coming
up next. Maybe we'll see a little bit more and
that might be a little bit more good and a
little bit more bad. But that goes along with being
a rookie quarterback. I don't care if you're the number
one overall pick or you're a fifth round pick. You're

(08:56):
gonna have mistakes. I wanted to see the confidence and
he had them confidence because he even said those waiting
for me to fail, I'm not going to fail. But
if I'm a teammate, and if I'm Miles Garrett and
you go, you know, we got something here, and maybe
they do. I mean, that defense is great. You're going
to have the defensive player of the year, You're going

(09:17):
to have the defensive rookie of the year. And they
hit the quarterback twenty times. They had ten sacks. It
felt like if you didn't get a sack, shame on you.
So that game stood out only because this is his moment,
his dad's there in the building. You're playing against the

(09:37):
team that I thought was going to draft him, and
then all of a sudden, you hear revisionist history where
Antonio Pierce says, well, if I was there, we would
have drafted him.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Coaches don't make the calls, especially relatively new coaches don't
make the calls on their quarterback. So maybe he wanted
Shad or Sanders, but he wasn't going to be making
the call there. All right, we'll get to your phone calls,
best and worst of the weekend. What we saw that
we liked, we didn't like. We play the waiting game
for Lane Kiffen. We'll talk to Rick newhisl about that

(10:08):
situation where depending on the day and the time Lane
Kiffin is staying he's gone to Old Men or he's
gone to LSU and he's going to Florida. I still
go back to the documentary I saw on the Mothership,
and it felt like Lane Kiffen finally found out who
Lane Kiffen was, and that is he was happy, had

(10:30):
his family there, His ex wife was, you know, in Oxford, Mississippi.
His kids were there, and it just felt like he
found happiness, peace of mind. But I don't even know,
if you know, there's certain head coaches that just don't
understand that definition. Sometimes happiness and peace of mind is

(10:51):
not being happy and not having peace of mind. It's
going to the next job, in the next job, in
the next job. So yes, you go from this amount
of money to that amount of money. You have Old
miss in a historical season and he's the distraction and
we got to wait until after Friday's game to find
out what he's going to do. How can you make

(11:13):
an offer to a coach who's under contract at another university.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
It's like what college football is. I don't think it's
a formal offer. It's probably like a verbal to the agent.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I would guess, Okay, But how are you making a
offer to the agent? Like, isn't that tampering?

Speaker 6 (11:32):
I don't think that rule is in place in college football.
I don't think they have tampering.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Well, once again, somebody should just say no, you can't
talk to my guy. After the season, you can talk
to my guy.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
Yes, it does seem like it shouldn't be difficult to
have a certain window instead of guidelines where you then
you can talk to the coach and you can't talk
to the coach.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Well, I don't think during a playoff run or you're
getting ready to go into the playoffs should be the
time when you can talk to a coach. But look,
this has been going on with college football for decades
and we'll.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Continue to go on.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
But Lane Kiffin says he'll make up his mind after
they play who is at Mississippi.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
State in the Egg Bowl? The egg Bull gampalling.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
The real issue is Jimmy Sexton, the agent. He represents
a lot of different college football coaches and players and
pro coaches. He's stirring this drink for a two week
period so all his clients get placed in bigger roles.
He's basically ignoring all conventional rules of time and hiring
because it works out for all his clients.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah, he's the kingmaker here and there's gonna be a
lot of guys feels they're waiting for all of this.
It's just a game of dominoes where that one goes,
then this one goes, then that one goes, and then
all of a sudden, you're hopscotching all over the country.
And we always go back to the Those kids don't
have loyalty, you know what they learn from the grown

(12:56):
ups because the grownups not have loyalty either.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Seeing what poll question here in the first hour of
the program.

Speaker 7 (13:02):
Got one here from Marvin Most, surprising division leader Colts
Broncos Bears, Patriots.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Bears. Yeah, Bears. I think they're a good team. I do.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I think you're starting to see maybe a comfort level
with coach and quarterback. I think that relationship is going
to work out. I know there's been some people in
my business who didn't think this was going to work out,
which was interesting because you only gave them a couple
of games before you make that declaration. This is going
to take a little bit of time for Caleb and

(13:40):
given what happened to him prior to Ben Johnson coming in.
I think he's he just has to get rid of
what he did at USC and understand what you have
to do in the NFL. And the more he's able
to do that, the more successful he's going to be.
And he's got talent there, got a good tight end,
a couple of good receivers there, and you got Ben
Johnson helping you along the way. He kind of gives

(14:02):
you the answers to the test. But I would say
the Bears. You know, the Jaguars are probably the least
imposing seven win team right now, because I mean, they
won again and then I'm watching the game and I'm like,
I still don't know what you know Jacksonville has with
Trevor Lawrence. I'll go all right, and then I'll go, oh,

(14:26):
there's you know, it felt like there were three or
four of those moments where you went man and then
you went man, yeah, eaton. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
I mean I would put the h I would put
the Patriots up there too. They were four and thirteen
last year, ten and two this year, same division as
the Bills. Who thought they would be down. Yeah, I
don't know that anybody really expected the Dolphins to be
this terrible this year. But I think that's a pretty
surprising result.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Well, I think most people had the Lions going to
the super Bowl, or they had the Packers in the playoffs.
We thought the Vikings would be a little bit better.
Vikings have a problem. Vikings have a JJ McCarthy problem.
And this is a long term problem because you let
these other quarterbacks go.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
He's only in year two. Now, only in year two.
But then.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
At what point do you say, is he our future?
And I'm watching you got the best receiver in football.
I mean, you have two of the best receivers in football.
He just at times looks like he's vanilla, like there's
not much you know where he's putting pressure on the defense. Now,
he did have a couple of really good pat and throws.
He had one throw to Jefferson that was pretty incredible.

(15:38):
So I don't know. You know, once again, embryonic stages
of these quarterbacks, rookie quarterbacks or a guy who didn't
play much, hasn't played that much. But you know, you
start to look at the other quarterbacks and the development
of them, and the Vikings went all in on him.
You know, Cousins goes, Danny Dimes goes, ye, Sam Darnell goes,

(16:00):
you know, and then all of a sudden you're like,
he's our guy. But I mean, you're locked in for
another year, but you wasted a first round of high
first round pick on him. And it goes back to
what I said when he's at Michigan, I don't think
they ever asked him to win a game.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Maybe they didn't need to.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
He was good in the playoffs, but you know that
you're you're waiting for something there, and he's got talent,
got athleticism, you know, he's got all those things ingredients
and he got a really good head coach. But it
feels like they got a problem. All right, we'll take
a break, just getting started. Got our pole question. We'll
get to your phone calls, best and worst of the weekend,

(16:43):
what you saw that you liked, you didn't like.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
We're back after this Dan Patrick's Show.

Jason McIntyre on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
We'll get to your phone calls coming up, best and
worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked
you didn't like. Ian rap Apart of NFL Network says
the Giants have fired their defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen and
said that this was a move by interim coach Mike Kafka.
I'm surprised they would give an interim head coach the

(17:51):
power to be able to fire his defensive coordinator. Keep
in mind with the Giants, they've lost five games in
which they held a lead in the fourth quarter, or
most of any NFL team this season. And Jameis Winston
was fun yesterday. He looked good. You know, he had
a touchdown reception, kind of did it all for them,

(18:12):
but the Giants defense couldn't hold on Jamiir Gibbs was spectacular.
He had two hundred and nineteen yards and that's the
third most in franchise history since Barry Sanders. The franchise
records to thirty seven against the Buccaneers in nineteen ninety four.

(18:33):
Eight seven seven three DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com,
twitter handle at DP show Panthers and the forty nine
ers coming up tonight and the Raiders firing offensive coordinator
Chip Kelly. So you spend six million dollars a year,
a three year deal for Chip Kelly and he makes
it to week twelve of the season. I wonder what

(18:53):
his buyout is, and I wonder if he's attractive to
other college opportunities. It maybe goes back to be a
head coach. He left UCLA to be the offensive coordinator
at Ohio State. Goes to the Raiders, and that's been
a big disappointment. They're averaging fifteen points a game. Buddha
in San Francisco leads us off on this Monday.

Speaker 9 (19:15):
Good morning, Buddha, Happy Monday boys. Welcome back home, mister Vegas.
Let's go fritzy.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Dan.

Speaker 9 (19:24):
I'm up here in the Pacific Northwest and having a blast.
I would also like to report that my hotel curtains
have not been nearly as impressed as Fritzy's hotel curtains
were in Vegas.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Just saying but DP.

Speaker 9 (19:36):
I attended the Oregon USC game on Saturday, which, as
you know, they also hosted a college game Day, and
the campus was absolutely bonkers, which takes me my best
of the weekend. Visiting Eugene, Oregon for the first time
and experiencing my first taste of you know you.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Make me one up?

Speaker 9 (19:54):
And I will tell you hearing fifty four thousand people
collectively singing anything is freaking impressive. I sent Tyler the
video absolutely fic. I hope you get a chance to
watch it in atmosphere is awesome and off the stadium
and the weather was heroic, and I was sorry for
my manus in LA. But that was truly the best
of me as Oregon, best in the USC, and worst

(20:15):
of the weekend America. Taking a double loss yesterday with
both Dallas and Kansas City winning in the last second
field goals super annoying.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Now we have to listen to all.

Speaker 9 (20:25):
They're still in the hut top and which is like
being stuck behind Fritzy and the fast lane.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Not good good, thank you Buddha.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yeah, Fritzy was fascinated by the curtains in his room
at the Fountain Blue.

Speaker 10 (20:39):
Oh that technology, good stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
So when your wife says, what was the highlighting of
you going to Las Vegas and you said the curtains,
So was the curtains.

Speaker 10 (20:48):
And then I got a delivery of like these different
flavored macaroons came to the nice little notes. So I'm
just sitting there looking out to the strip and the
sphere with my macaroons and my drink, and I'm like,
this is living kristin Syracuse.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Those people down there are living christ and Syracuse.

Speaker 11 (21:04):
Hi Chris, Hey, thanks and hey, I got the best
and worst for you in a comment. Hey, my comment.
The last couple months on the Dan Patrick Show, you
guys have had some thought provoking yet very humorous banter
spearheaded by Todd Fritz on home team announcers, overreactions and underreactions.
And Saturday, with about five six seconds left in the
Notre Dame Syracuse game, syracuse Is third string quarterback who

(21:28):
was actually a lacrosse player, ran it in from about
six yards out to give Syracuse its first points and
our hometown play by play guy was so excited. If
I had turned on that game just for that last play,
I had thought my orange had just got a game
winning touchdown instead of pulling within sixty three points of
fighting Irish and my best. One good thing that's come

(21:51):
out of the Tush push is the fake Tush push.
I love it and my worst Chris Paul announcing his
retirement at the conclusion of this is twenty first nbacs
and love watching him play. Always a consummate pro and
Dan maybe the last true point guard we ever have,
because it seems like now the best pass and distributors
are all big guys.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Yeah, certainly Joker. I mean, Joker's numbers are crazy, and
people keep coming back to way he doesn't play defense. Well,
if you look at the number of steals that he
gets and the number of defensive rebounds, that's part of
being a defensive player. Joker gets a crazy amount of steals.

(22:34):
I think in the decade he has the most steals,
most rebounds, and most points of anybody. And he does
get defensive rebounds as well. But you'll, you know, that'll
be the fallback of well, but he doesn't play defense. Well,
look at your numbers. Do some research and you'll realize
he does play defense. It's just not your I'm going

(22:55):
to lock you down defense. Yeah, Paulie and.

Speaker 6 (22:57):
Yo get his stats are getting better. He's everything thirty points,
eleven assists, thirteen rebounds, almost two steals, and his turnovers
are down and his three point percentage is up to
forty two percent. That's the best of his career.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
I have MVP odds Matthew Stafford and Drake May. Looks
like it's a two man race. Now Stafford minus two fifteen,
Drake May is plus two hundred. Then it's Jonathan Taylor,
Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes in there. And your Super
Bowl odds. It's okay. Everybody would agree the Rams. Rams

(23:33):
are the best team right now, playing the best offense defense.
Who is second second best Super Bowl odds? Ton, I'm
gonna say the Eagles. Eagles would be correct. Who has
the third best Super Bowl odds? Marvin, the Chiefs, you

(23:54):
would be correct. I think those are surprising. The next
best odds a tie between the Seahawks and the Colts.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
You know the Chiefs, They're just not going away.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
Interviewed my guess Actuallyams.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yeah, my bat, my bad. I should have asked that.
But Vegas knows.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
The Chiefs aren't going to win. It's why they got
them with U the third best odds. All you gotta
do is get in and there's no team in the
AFC where you go. Oh, they'll definitely be the Chiefs
beat them if they're hosting them. Here's Patrick Mahomes after
the win yesterday.

Speaker 12 (24:33):
This is exactly what we needed to win against a
really good football.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Team and the game's not going your way.

Speaker 12 (24:37):
You could have folded in that situation and kind of
been kind of the rest of the season. The guys
responded and then found a way to win on every
every single unit, I mean offense. We found a way
at the end defense toood Tall multiple times to give
us chances, and then Harrison and arrise At did a
great job flipping the field and making field goals. So
we needed a win like this and I was just
try to build off of it.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
They had nine points through three quarters, no touchdown passes,
and they still end up winning. The Colts did a
disservice to themselves and the rest of the AFC. Lucas
in Texas, Hi Luke, what's on your mind?

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Hey dang, good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 13 (25:17):
Three quick things for you. Number one, I saw this
stat last week that just blew my mind. Did you
know that in twelve or No. Eleven NFL seasons, Derrick
Henry has just now passed his career high school rushing yards.
If you want some fun reading, go look at what
Derrick Henry did in high school. It's pretty crazy. My
best and worst for the weekend, I don't have a worst.
My best I got to take my oldest to his

(25:38):
first game, got to see my Eggs beat a real
plucky one in ten camper team. It was a lot
closer than the score indicated.

Speaker 4 (25:47):
But no.

Speaker 13 (25:48):
My last question for you is this week we've got
the Colts and the Texans, and I want to revisit
a point you guys had from a couple of weeks ago.
Y'all said that Texas was number two, Indiana was number
one for football. Is that title on the line with
a win by my Texans over the Colts this week
because we would have Tech and A and M, they
would have Indiana and Notre Dame, and then the NFL

(26:10):
guys could maybe decide it on the field. What do
you think I.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Think it's going to come down to the wire here
on which state is the best football state if I
include NFL, and the Cowboys ended up winning too, but
if I include the NFL in college football as well.
The atmosphere at Oregon the USC Oregon game was great.
You had game Day there and I tuned in right
at the beginning and I see McAfee and McAfee comes

(26:37):
in and when he comes in, he certainly leaves an impression.
He's yelling, he's up on the chair, he's got Saban
there holding his legs so he doesn't fall off. Dan
Lanning is in there, he's on the motorcycle. He's got
the Oregon duck there. Next thing I know, he's got
his shirt off that they actually had to say, hey,
why don't you take a breath here? And then McAfee,

(27:00):
he ended up getting his close back on, came back
over and they did the show. But atmosphere, it's it
was wild.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:08):
See yeah, Pat McAfee has really brought like a WWE
element to game day that wasn't there previously.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
I don't know if I need the shirt off. I mean,
I'm gonna just say that I don't know what leads
you to. You know, go, I got to take my
shirt off now, But there is wwe I mean, if
you're gonna do it, then rip the shirt off. Yeah,
just just rip it up. Yeah, I'm fine with that,
and put a speedo on and just stand up there right. So, well,

(27:39):
that would be bad for Saban with his angle there
as you're saying. But you can see where Saban's like.
He's trying to get Saban to do a.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
Little bit softer now, a little bit softer now.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
So he's trying to engage Saban with him, and Saban's
trying to act like, all right, I'll fit in here,
and he's going a.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Little that's something, A little that's something. Now.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
H McAfee comes in, man, Yeah, a whole lot of energy. Uh.
Pete in California, Hi Pete, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (28:15):
I too, was in Eugene for the Oregon Duck crushing
of USC.

Speaker 15 (28:21):
So my two baths of the weekend.

Speaker 14 (28:23):
Is Number one is that the Oregon Ducks, who are
going to win the national championship this year, crushing the
USD Trojans. And number two is the best of the
weekend is shutting up all those so called experts on
the mother Ship who all week predicted the US crying babies,

(28:43):
We're gonna beat the Ducks. And oh, by the way, Buddha,
there was fifty nine thousand, five hundred and eighty eight
at Austin all seem shouts at the end of the
third quarter, so code Ducks.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Great atmosphere. Yeah, it was fun game to watch.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
And USC's got a great recruiting class coming in. I
know that there's been speculation on would USC move on
from Lincoln Riley. I think the amount of money they
got invested, They've had a good season, and they got
a great recruiting class coming in. And you know, the
tricky part sometimes is who's the athletic director and the
relationship and did the athletic director hire the coach? You know,

(29:22):
those are things that you know sometimes play a larger
role than you think. And you know, Penn State situation
is interesting because, and I'll bring this up to Rick Neuheisel,
I don't know if Penn State is having a second
have second thoughts on firing James Franklin. Now I'm not
saying that he's a great coach, but he was really

(29:43):
good for Penn State. It just he didn't beat top
ten teams. Okay, I understand that. We always looked at
Penn State and we said, yes, great regular season, but
that's about it. But you start to look around and
you go, okay, who they getting and who's going to
be that much better than James Franklin.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Can you get Caitlin de boor from Alabama?

Speaker 2 (30:04):
I know everything sounds far fetched, but it's not because
we've seen these coaches getting fired during the season. So
nothing's far fetched anymore in college football. Nothing. Hey, we're
going to get rid of Ryan Kelly at LSU. We're
going to pay him fifty million dollars. James Franklin, We're
going to get rid of him. We'll pay him fifty
million dollars. This is this is college football right now,

(30:28):
and Lane Kiffin's going someplace, and then who's going there,
and then who's going to get the Florida job and
who goes to Ole Miss and everybody's going to get paid.
Everybody's going to use this as leverage. But I don't
think anything happens with Lincoln Riley, and you know he's
earned another year and that recruiting class, Uh, he had
some questionable calls.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
You know, I'm watching them going back. That's strange.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
But you know they got a good team. They got
some playmakers there, but Oregon Oregon man, they bring it
and and Dante more and went kind of toe to toe.
I mean he did pretty well, got some running backs
in there, some defensive plays. But that's when I retire.

(31:12):
I said this to my wife. I said, you know what,
I got an idea what I want to do when
I retired. She goes, Okay, what I said, I want
to go to all these different college campuses for a
football game that I'd never been to. She goes, well,
like which ones? And I go, well, I'd like to
go to Oregon. I'd like to go to Washington. And

(31:35):
she's looking at me, like why, I said, just the
atmosphere that I never got to go to those games,
go to a tailgate, actually experience that. And so I
don't know if she thought, maybe like there's something wrong
with me when I said I have my plan now
for when I retired, like that first year, that first

(31:56):
football season, that might be what I do. Just pick
out like six or seven different places to go and
just spend the weekend there and be one of the locals.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Yes, Ton, I think that's a great idea. What was
she hoping you would say?

Speaker 10 (32:10):
As far as what you'd want to do in return,
You don't want to sit on a park bench and
play checkers and shuffle board and feed the pigeons. You
got to go out there and enjoy life.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Well, thank you, Todd. Nobody enjoys life like you said.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
I can't sit in a hotel room, ches playing with
the curtains.

Speaker 10 (32:24):
Sitting macaroons, wondering what's going on on the other side
of the glass there.

Speaker 6 (32:27):
Yes, Paul, So honey, are we going to Madrid and
then Florence and then to London for a month And no, no, No,
We're going to Knoxville and then we're going to go
to Bloomington.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Yeah that's the plan. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Well I've been to Bloomington and I've been to Knoxville.
So for games, I would take them off the list. Well,
nobody goes to Indiana for the games when I was
growing up. No, even now, I would go for an
Indiana basketball game. That's another thing, you know, I might
do kind of a combo platter. Maybe I've been to Kansas,
I've been to Fall Gallen, Ucla. There's a couple of places.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Is that I've been to Duke been to North Carolina?

Speaker 10 (33:02):
Yes, Tom, That's how I was gonna ask, I have
you've been to Duke North Carolina for basketball? On both sides?

Speaker 2 (33:08):
I've seen a North Carolina game in a Duke game.
I haven't seen Duke in North Carolina both sides with
that rivalry.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Is that what you're asking? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (33:16):
Did have you seen Duke North Carolina at Duke and
Duke North Carolina at North Carolina? That's something I know.
I definitely want to stay.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Okay, well, you bring a tide with you? No? No,
why not?

Speaker 4 (33:25):
No?

Speaker 3 (33:26):
I think it over.

Speaker 7 (33:27):
We'll hang out in the hotel.

Speaker 10 (33:28):
We'll have a little party in the hotel. I let
a pizza and we'll pretend we went to the game.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
And there's no party.

Speaker 13 (33:34):
Put on Law and Order.

Speaker 10 (33:35):
We'll just watch the reruns and have some food, get
stuck in the elevator. Who knows what will happen.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
You didn't even go out to dinner with us one
night I was.

Speaker 10 (33:43):
Under the weather first name.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
The second night, I rallied, I had strep throat and
I went out.

Speaker 10 (33:47):
Did I'm sure we all appreciated that Streto's not contagious
or anything. We all sat in close quarters.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Like, okay, does anybody feel sick today? Like aside from
the normal sick of something, is everybody healthy?

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Is okay?

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Because I would feel bad if you guys caught this,
especially over the holidays. Tell you, okay, you tend to
come down with something.

Speaker 10 (34:08):
I'm okay. I had something and it's the remnants of it.
If I feel a lot better than I did.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Not exactly a professional call by the analyst there, but
that's courtesy of the Lions Radio Network. Jamiir Gibbs ten
rushing touchdowns this season, first player to have at least
ten rushing scores in each of his first three seasons
since Adrian Peterson. That's a must win for the Lions
against a very surprising Giants team. Play of the Day

(35:46):
your mind?

Speaker 15 (35:48):
Good morning Dan, Good morning fellas. Thanks for calling me back. Yep,
Happy Thanksgiving to all you. I just want to take
a minute here and you know, talk about the most
overrated coach in the history of sport, Mike Tomlin. You know,
everybody talks about this guy's a great coach, blah blah blah.
You know, first off, this guy has not won a
playoff game since twenty sixteen. He's been the coach of

(36:10):
the Steelers for nineteen years. Of the nineteen years, he's
only won a playoff game in four of nineteen years.

Speaker 13 (36:17):
Four.

Speaker 15 (36:18):
So there's not another franchise to will employ this guy
for that long. Not only that, again, he's been a
coach for nineteen years. His coaching tree in nineteen years
consists of zero coaches, zero and before anybody says, you know, well,
Bruce Arians.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
Bill Kyher hired Bruce Arians.

Speaker 15 (36:34):
This guy has made a living off of Bill Kawers, players, coaches, culture,
and eventually Ben Roethlisberger. I just think, you know, amongst
Steeler fans, it's like an underground club. We've all been
saying this for about ten years. It's just it's so stale,
it's so tired, and you know, I think, eventually, like
these are good guy. He's a really good man. I've
met him a couple times, a really good guy. I

(36:55):
just think it's time, and you know, at the end
of the day.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
It's time.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
All right, thank you, Jonathan. I mean it's not opinion,
it's fact. But you're giving the number of playoff appearances,
having won a playoff game in almost a decade. But
he's never had a bad year, Like it's not one
of those. He's had a down year where you can
fire him, and the Steelers don't fire their coaches. I mean,

(37:22):
when your worst season is eight to eight. And I
thought that this might be his last year. I thought
it was him and Aaron Rodgers, let's try this one
time and see if it works. I don't know if
I mean, he would be gobbled up by the networks
as a TV analyst. I mean, he's fifty four years
of age, and it might be one of those that
he does take a break and then maybe goes back

(37:44):
into coaching. But it feels like he's not gonna get fired.
If anything, it would be kind of a mutual parting
if anything. But there is it's weird how Mike Tomlan
is viewed nationally as opposed to locally, because when you
talk to Steeler fan, it's not like you get that
seal of approval of that's our guy.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
It's you got to get into the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
You got to win a playoff game, Whereas nationally it's like, man,
he's a leader, and you know his teams they always
have a winning recker, you know, all the same things.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Yeah, Marvin, Yeah. But the thing is with the Steelers,
they've never been awful. So that's the thing.

Speaker 8 (38:21):
We don't even bring him up because they've always nine
and seven, eight and eight, never lose the season.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
So we're like, oh, the great over there. It consistent
like John Harball, yeah, Paul, but you know.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
The management over there should get some critique for not
finding a quarterback. The past five years because they've really
done a poor job. That can he pickett a bunch
of different other players and how many guys do keep
afloat with a bad quarterback situation. You can also make
the case he's doing a lot with less at the
quarterback position the past four years. He's not make him threatening,

(38:51):
but the gym has given him nothing.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Shae and Irving taking a victory lap. Hey, shay Day. Okay,
what was halftime like at your house?

Speaker 13 (39:05):
Dan?

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Okay, here's the worst thing. The roommate got me into
some stupid friends giving. So I'm surrounded by normies and
dads that want to talk about, you know, golf swings,
also the crap, And I'm melting down in the middle
of the room, surrounded by strange kids and not allowed
to talk or curse, and I can't be in the
same room with them and be careful of that dude.
So I'm losing it. And then the lights start shining,

(39:27):
Danny and the angels start singing, and I start wondering,
did the wildcatter himself pull off the greatest personnel moves
that I've ever seen? Because we held the Eagles to
sixty three yards on the ground Danny, we stopped the run.
We ran a balanced offense and actually won the game
against the divisional rival. What am I supposed to do

(39:49):
with this? Danny? I feel joy, I feel happiness, I
feel hope.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
You want to admit that Jerry Jones is a genius.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
I think the deal he he did it with the devil.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Danny.

Speaker 13 (40:01):
We stopped the run, Danny, we did it stopped.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Well, you were supposed to stop the run with the
previous trade.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Well this, dw Well, Hell, that's not fair because he
had to get this new one done because the last
one was incomplete. So he had to get Kenny Clark,
a good friend, and now the MVP Kenny Clark is
with Q and it's doing much better.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
So it's going to be a great Thanksgiving, Danny.

Speaker 4 (40:22):
This time of year every year, I quit taking my
med so I can fire back of the in laws
quicker than normal. So yeah, it's going to be a
righteous Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
I don't think we need to do that. I think
you should stay.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
On your men's No way, Danny, Okay, no drinking.

Speaker 9 (40:37):
Yeah, no problem, how about them?

Speaker 1 (40:38):
Cowbo?

Speaker 2 (40:39):
All right, Okay, Shane Irving, I'm excited. Hey, you watch that.
I even text Marvin than the rest of the dan Nants.
I go, I found myself rooting for the Cowboys, just
because the Eagles couldn't put them away, and the Cowboys
kept coming back and making plays, and I go, I'm
actually rooting for the Cowboys. And I thought it would

(41:01):
be a better story if the Cowboys won this game,
if the Eagles ended up winning at the very end
and be like, Okay, here we go. They squeak by again.
But the Cowboys, they're at least getting your attention. If
you're the opposition, they're getting your attention now and rightfully so.
Hour two on the Way RG three will stop by

(41:23):
Rick Neuheisel. In the final hour of the program, more
of your Phone calls Best and Worst for the weekend.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
