Surprise surprise or at least one surprise the other not
a surprise. Welcome to the program. It's our one on
this Thursday, Dan and the Dan Nets Dan Patrick Show
gangs al here the Minister of Humor, Fritzie Seaton, Mark
Paulie yours truly in the back room, guys. The Knicks
come back down twenty and beat the Celtics in Boston.
They're up two to zero in the series. The thunder

(00:26):
roll the Nuggets one forty nine to one oh six
to even that series at a game apiece. Warriors are
ten and a half point underdogs at Minnesota. Coming up tonight,
Game two, eight seven, seven to three. DP show email
address DP at Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show.
Steph Curry won't be playing. He'll be out at least

(00:46):
a week. I don't think he'll be back until Game
five at the earliest. And if you're Golden State, you
got nothing to lose. Just go after it again tonight.
Play great defense, try to frustrate Minnesota. Maybe you when
you get back home, you can get another win. Maybe
the series is tied. When Steph Curry comes back. Best
case scenario probably for game five eight seven seven three

stat of the day. From nineteen ninety seven until twenty

(01:54):
twenty four, there were a grand total of ten playoff
comeback wins from at least twenty down on the road.
There have been four this postseason alone, the Knicks twice,
the Pacers and the Thundero.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Day, brought to you by Panini America. The official trading
cards of the Dan Patrick Show. The Knicks are resilient,
but they're built for this. They're built to beat the Celtics.
This is what happens when teams win titles are there
in your division or in your conference, you have to

(02:40):
get through them. And the Knicks went out of their
way to get the right pieces to be able to
compete against the Boston Celtics. Now, the Celtics were big
favorites to get back to the NBA Finals, but the
Knicks have a roster worth talking about. Everybody talks about
Jalen Brunson, og Annobia, two way Force, Josh Hart, Karl
Anthony Towns, McKay Bridges. They know their roles on this

(03:02):
team and we've seen that so far. And it might
not be talent that they have, but there's toughness there, adaptability.
It's finding a way or not panicking when you're down
twenty on the road against the defending champs.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
It would be easy to say, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
What, not our night, just like we saw with Denver
last night, Denver not our night. We're not going to
have Joker, he's fouled out. We'll see you in Denver.
But they've done it the hard way. Let's make no
mistake about it. You erase a twenty point deficit, you
shoot under thirty percent from three point range. It's not pretty,

(03:39):
it's gritty, and it's not going to make headlines the
way they play. But I don't think they care. It's
their identity. I don't think they care about the aesthetics
of a win. You know, you don't get style points here.
All they care is that they have a two to
zero series lead. Now, there's plenty of blame to go around,
but what normally have weapons is we'll move past the

(04:02):
Knicks and not give them credit. And granted, if Boston
makes one more shot they win last night, if they
make a three the other in game one, you know,
so they could easily be up to bow not playing.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Well at all.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
But let's factor in. I don't think the Knicks have
played a great series so far. That has to be
factored in as they go back to New York. Is
this on Boston? Yes, because they're the defending champs. They
got a deep team. It's loaded, you got experience, you
got two really good players in Brown and Tatum. You
got role players. You got everything you need, you have

(04:39):
home court advantage, you got everything, but that clutch gene
that I need to make a bucket here. Hey, we're struggling.
I'll make a bucket. And I'm waiting for Jason Tatum.
We want Jason Tatum to be a star. It feels
like the media advertisers like we got to I mean,
this guy, we're gonna make him a star. You're going

(05:00):
to do commercials.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
But is he a star? Is he a killer? Is
he just a really good player?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
And you know, when you think about it and I
watch him, we want to put him in the top
five because he's on the Celtics. They want a title,
they're competing for titles. But then you watch and you
go and I've said this before, there are times when
he drifts like he just kind of floats away from
the action there. But he can be and he can

(05:31):
get you forty, he can get you fifty. He's a
tremendous player. But you start to think about it. Jalen
Brown was the MVP last year when they won the title.
Jason Tatum going to the bench in the Olympics. Now
granted he got a gold medal. I don't know if
that messes with you or not. And I'm just trying
to put myself in that position if that's possible. Jalen

(05:53):
Brown was their best player. And how many times have
we heard that? Is Jason Tatum the best player on
his own team? I would say still better than Jaylen Brown.
Jaylen Brown benefits from Jason Tatum, and I guess you
can say the other way round.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
But the whole Olympics thing, he got binged. Derek White,
his teammate, played more like if it's just I don't know,
it's weird when you go that guy when he goes
out there is going to kill you. And when you
talk about a face of the league, I mean Anthony
Edwards is more of a face, Lucas more of a face,
Steph Curry's more of a face, Lebron is more of

(06:29):
a face, Joker's more of a face. Now Sga coming
into the picture, like, Jason Tatum is a really good player,
But to be one of the greats of all time
or one of the top five players, I want to
see what you do when nobody.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Else is doing anything. And it's not fair to put
it all on him. But if he wants it all
on him, now is when you got to show it.
You go five for nineteen. You had to have this win.
Everybody thought, Okay, it's to be a gentleman's sweep. Well
what do you think now? Do you think the Knicks

(07:04):
can get another one? So the Celtics are gonna have
to win four or five, okay, and they can. The
Cavaliers can win, you know, four of five against Indiana,
like it can happen. I get it, and it's been
crazy so far in the postseason. But I start to
look at greatness and you want to be included in

(07:27):
the greats. Well, the greats somehow find a way to
win these games. These are ugly games. And Boston did
go inside to start. They were trying to get to
the hoop, and I thought, okay, that's what you're supposed
to do. Get some free throws, get some easier baskets.
You got matchups that favor you going inside. But watching

(07:48):
last night, you just kept waiting, kept waiting, and it
never happened. And this is what the Knicks love. It's
almost like the Knicks are like Joe Fraser. If you
remember watching Joe Fraser fight, he would take three and
give you one. When he fought against Ali, Ali was
so stylistically superior. He was just flashing, look great, and

(08:14):
you're just like okay, and Joe Fraser was like, all right,
all right, all right, and now I'm going to hit
you with one. And that's the Knicks. The Knicks are
a heavyweight that it is just kind of taking what
you give them, and then you want to see what
they do after that. And so far they seem like
they're the ones that aren't panicking, that they're the ones

(08:36):
that are experienced. That's what's surprising about this. Here's the
final call of last night with the Knicks winning in
the garden. Tatum across McCourt with Ted top of the
key with eight defender by Robinson was seventh right wing,
three acrossover foul line with four left block step back.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Stole it by Pridges Prinche ups it down court.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
They've done it again. They've done it again.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
The New York Knicks take book in Boston and a
too lead ahead and back to them back und courtesy
of the Knicks Radio Network. They did something that I
preach about. The best player is not going to beat me.
Even if the best player is not having a good night.
What did the Knicks do? They allowed in quotation marks

(09:22):
or forced Jason Tatum to a certain spot on the floor,
and then the Knicks surrounded him. They did the right
thing at the right time. Here is Jalen Brunson on
being up two to oh going home.

Speaker 6 (09:38):
I realized an opportunity that we have and now we
just got to make sure we're still locked in, no
real close to being done, making sure our mindset is
the same. And I mean kat just the way he
started out the game and now it was great for us,
and uh, just the way he's been now throughout the
entire season, and he's been one of the best teammates

(09:59):
that we have, and the way he gives us energy
and the way he goes and gets three bounds and
what he does that's doesn't go unnoticed, and he just
this is the way he's been.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
According to DraftKings, the favorites to win the title the
Thunder of the big favorites. Then it's the Celtics, Then
go down the list, it's the Cavaliers, Timberwolves, Knicks, and Pacers.
So it's plus one thirty for the Thunder it's plus
three ten for the Celtics. It was plus one eighty
five before yesterday's game. Then you have the Calves and

(10:30):
the Timberwolves, Knicks, and the Pacers. Warriors are getting ten
and a half tonight in Minnesota. All right, Seaton, let's
pull question for the first hour program. Well, he got
a couple options here.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
We might as well start with based off the NBA
more surprising the Pacers are up two oh on Cleveland,
or Knicks are up two to oh on Boston. I
would say the Knicks up on the Celtics, even though
that's lesser of a seating upset. I'm not surprised at
the Pacers. I said, from the outside, I think that

(11:03):
they can win this series. The Cavs have injuries as well,
so I got to factor that in.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
The Celtics are healthy. They don't have any excuses. Their
excuses are they have no excuses? Yes, Pauling.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
I went back and looked at the two box scores
with the Celtics, and after Game one a lot of
people said, you gotta, you know, shoot fewer threes, and
people are like, they're not going to do that. In
Game one, they attempted sixty threes and thirty seven twos.
In Game two, they attempted forty threes and fifty four twos.
They actually did curtail their three point attempts. That might

(11:40):
be the wrong decision.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Yeah, I want you to be who you are. Don't
change now.

Speaker 7 (11:45):
They averaged forty eight threes attempted per game during the season.
They attempted forty last night. I wonder if that was conscious.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
It feels like or it felt like it when I'm watching,
because it's almost where you go. Ray Allen said this
to us yesterday. He said, I never wanted my first
shot to be a three because if I missed, then
it's on my mind with the next time. And it
felt like the Celtics were purposely trying to get some hoops.
Then you were going to take your threes. But they're

(12:14):
not changing. They can't change. This is who they are.
They live by the three, they die by the three.
This is why you see so many big comebacks now
because you can shoot yourself into a game or out
of a game because of the three pointer. All right,
we'll get to your phone calls eight seven to seven
three DP show email address DP at Danpatrick dot com,

Take Caro WINNI yeah, Paul, you know, for his birthday,
he should make us some lunch. That'd be a lovely gift.

Speaker 9 (14:24):
Hmmm.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
If you're welcome, they could make him him. I'm sorry,
I just whipped up these burgers real quick.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Oklahoma City routed the Nuggets Steve in their series the Thunder,
setting a playoff record. They had eighty seven points in
the first half that broke the mark set by the
Cavaliers game for the twenty seventeen NBA Finals against Golden State.
Now we were just nerding out on the draft where
Philadelphia had the number one pick. They took Markel Foltz

(14:58):
and there was a trade there and Boston ended up
getting Jason Tatum. And going into that draft, I was
told by an NBA scout he said, every he goes,
I'm missing something. He said, Jason Tatum's the best player
in this draft. And I remember coming in that day
because Markel Foltz I think, won nine games at Washington,

(15:18):
they didn't make the NCAA tournament, and I thought he was,
you know, a good, you know, college guard, but all right,
and I like Tatum was right in front of us.
He was playing at Duke every single game, right in
front of us. Markl Fold's playing it you dub and
you're going, uh, have you seen this guy that I

(15:40):
don't know? Maybe uh, Philadelphia is going to take him.
But if you look in that draft, Donovan Mitchell's in
that draft, Bam out of Bio's in that draft.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
O G.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Nanobi is in that draft, Derek White is in that draft.
That makes it even more egregious that you whift on
the number one pick with all those other players who
are all star caliber or they are all stars.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Dang, yeah, Pully.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Yeah, they that was a trade down by Boston. They
traded down to three and picked up an extra first
round draft pick, which didn't amount to much with Philly.
So Philly had traded up to get Foults. And like
you said, there's Malik Monk was in that draft. Mitchell
at a bio or thirteen fourteen. Josh Hart was the
last pick of the first round, Derek White second to
last pick of the first round. Dylan Brooks was a

(16:27):
second rounder.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Dang, it's a draft.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Yeah, yes, And if you look at that Sixers team,
you're right and you add him to you know geez
jj Reddick was still playing on that team. Joel embiid,
you know Ben Simmons, I bet you if Jason Tatum
is drafted there, I bet you Ben Simmons has a
better career than what he had or is having.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
HM Well, couldn't have much of a worst career, let's
put it that way. Yeah, but if you put Tatum
on there with a health the embiid, Okay, you got
people's attention.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
Yeah, Pauline, there is a story about that draft. I
was just reading that there was a big workout for
Jason Tatum, and he held it in Los Angeles to
have led a lot of different teams. Look at him
in Philadelphia? Was there in Phoenix, in Boston? Anyone in
the top eight. The Lakers didn't attend. The Lakers had
the second pick, they could have taken Tatum. They took
Lonzo Ball, which for a while was pretty good, but

(17:24):
they did not attend the workout.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
I never understood Lonzo Ball.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
He couldn't shoot, but he did have a really good handle,
and he was a larger guard.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
But I said all.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Along that his younger brother was going to be the
best player in the family just because he could shoot
better and he had good size, and I had a
really good handle. But yeah, boy, Tatum with the Lakers,
Tatum with the seventy six ers, Well, get two phone

(17:56):
calls coming up. We decided, I think on the pole question, Seaton, yeah,
I think.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
We're kind of kicking around some pole questions. Uh, what
if I had said this, if you were betting m
Nix and five Celtics and six, Okay.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Uh, I'm gonna go Celtics in six. But you know,
between those two, like at some point, the greatness of
the Celtics has to resurface.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Which I can't do nix and four because that's just ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
No offense, that'sdiculous.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
About Nicks in seven Celtics in seven Celtics in six
nix and six.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
NIX and seven Celtics, six and seven, nix and six.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Seven five four three.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
That's six and five seven six and Nicks Celtics.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
So nix and six NIX and seven Celtics and six
Celtics and SEC.

Speaker 10 (18:52):
Clear that up.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Yes, yeah, I don't know what the Vegas thinks, but
I would still lean towards the Celtics winning the series.
But I want to warn people the Knicks haven't played great.
They played good enough to win. You steal two games

(19:13):
and it's really rare. You're stealing too, Like Golden State,
they're ten and a half point underdogs. Do I think
they're stealing another one? I don't denver against OKC last night,
they're not stealing that one. That one was over Angela
in Oklahoma? Hi, Angela, what's on your mind?

Speaker 11 (19:34):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Dan?

Speaker 11 (19:36):
I just want to say, let's go thunder and Westbroot
came in sit down and we all cheered for him
because we do love him all right?

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Well, thank you Angela, Yes, Parvin.

Speaker 12 (19:52):
Angela's got baby, David.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
She might have been smoking some heaters and drinking some
whiskey watching her thunder Last Nights.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
What a unique But Kim Carnes, is that who it was?
Benny Davis eyes?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yeah, Dave, you'll tease you just to please shoot.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
What's your second favorite? Kim Carnes?

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Yeah, it's like Joan Osborne? Is that her name? What
if God was one of us? What was her next
big hit? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (20:42):
I don't remember either the instrumental version, Thank you to him,
the live version, the unplugged, the acoustic Yeah, a dub
in Virginia.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
How are you.

Speaker 9 (20:53):
Actually got it right?

Speaker 5 (20:54):
Dan?

Speaker 9 (20:55):
Thank you? Bove seven, first time caller, one big fan.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 9 (21:01):
I can't believe I'm talking to you. I'm sixty four
years old and I've actually lived a whole life.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Now, what can I do for you?

Speaker 9 (21:11):
I'll bet you I haven't watched an hour of esd
N since you left.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
You know, give him a try, give him give him
a try, ado, you know, try and hard.

Speaker 9 (21:26):
Yeph. What are you still on? Am I still on?

Speaker 5 (21:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (21:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (21:32):
You're still here? Yeah?

Speaker 9 (21:33):
Still here Okay, I'm sorry anyway about the Knicks. I'll
ask you about the Knicks. You guys had the pole question.
But don't you think they in order to win, if
they're going to pull the series win, they've got to
do it sooner rather than later.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
And oh yeah, yeah, I mean I go for the
jugglar Saturday night? Sure, yeah, I mean you're not going
to let the Celtics go get back in this. If
I'm the Knicks, I don't piece myself. I'm not planning
for seven games. This isn't you know? There were a
couple of fights that Tommy Hearns had where he came

(22:08):
out in the first round and he basically tried to
win in the first round and he was such an
incredible knockout artist and then he was spent after like
three rounds. If you're the Knicks, don't plan on seven,
plan on five, plan on four six.

Speaker 12 (22:25):
Yes, Mark, do you think ABC slash ESPN made a
mistake by putting Game three is at three point thirty
on Saturday?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
I know.

Speaker 12 (22:36):
They should always be Mark like, I don't care Marquis
Saturday Night at the Garden.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Yeah, I was surprised. So was Charles Barkley. Charles is like,
that should be a Saturday night game. You imagine New
York on Saturday night. Woo, it was going to be electric. Todd,
what's the theme song for the Knicks?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
How does it go?

Speaker 1 (22:56):
They go New York O, New York go.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
Were the Knicks that were doing it? We're hitting three
pointers and you're putting up bricks.

Speaker 10 (23:02):
That's part of it anyway.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Oh it is okay, all right?

Speaker 10 (23:04):
And then this we are New York and we love
basket ball, and we are standing tall. We are the
New York Knicks.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Yes.

Speaker 10 (23:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
The next three thirty pm Eastern on ABC. Then there's
not another game until eight pm Eastern and ABC Timberwols Warriors.
Is there something in between those that were missing? Why
wouldn't you go back to back?

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Mmm?

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Checking Granton Nashville, Hi Grant, what's on your mind?

Speaker 9 (23:33):
Good morning, Happy birthday, Tyler? Say that real fast. I
just wanted to comment on the Celtics. Someone can tell
them not to shoot three. It's like I think it
was Paulagues that they took less this game. It still
felt like the same amount. I mean, there was a
play where they like.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
Oh oh no, no, no, we got your grant.

Speaker 9 (23:59):
Oh my bad day. It looks like it hung up
on my thing. I think it was probably said that
they took less this game, but there was a play
where they like stole the ball and Drew Holliday stepped
back and took a three, then someone else so long,
then Jalen Brown so long he paid it. But like,
they don't have to do that. It's not like a
there's no law that says, hey take every three. Possibly
can want to them down to go in.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
But this is who they are. They're not changing. They
average forty eight to three pointers attempted a game, and
the Knicks know this. Their defense, really, their game plan,
their scheme is predicated on the Celtics are going to
take those threes, if they want to go inside, if
they want to get twos, the Knicks are probably going

(24:42):
to let them or probably not impede them the way.
You know, you just don't want them to get hot
from three point range because if they do, then you're
gonna get blown out. But even if they get warm
from three point range, you could be in trouble. Turbo
in Buffalo Turbo. What's on your mind?

Speaker 13 (25:02):
Oh, hey, dad, I'm not an honor oh yeah, I
want to talk about I'm wont to respond to your
pole question.

Speaker 14 (25:09):
Celtics and six.

Speaker 9 (25:10):
They're gonna win four in a row. I think you
know it.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
I think other people know it.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
I don't know it. I don't know it.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
I try not to know it all because we get
into you know, dangerous hot takes when we do that.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Yes, so maybe what I'll do for the poll question
is Nix and seven or Celtics and six. We'll give
Nicks the entire series to win, but Celtics have to
win four in a row.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
I think Turbo wanted a pie bet pie to the
face bet that the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Were going to win the next four.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
You know, when somebody says somebody doesn't have a chance,
I would go, no, they have a chance. If you
play in a game, play in a sporting event, you
have a chance. Never say somebody doesn't have a chance.
So many people jump to the this will be a
gentleman's sweep, Boston will win the next four. Well, those
are probably casual basketball fans who are just dropping in

(26:04):
and going, hey, I guess I got to have a
take on this, and then they tell you, yep, Celtics
will win in five. I'd love to know what you're
saying on your show today, or what you're writing today,
or what's your hot take today. Celtics are winning four
in a row, can they?

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (26:21):
But would I bet on it? No, I'd bet against it.
I think the Knicks will get at least one at home. Now,
I still think Boston will win. I think that's the
unique part of these best of seven series, the best
team wins. If this is March Madness, the Celtics are out,
Minnesota is out, Cleveland is out, Okay, c is out.

(26:48):
But it's not March Madness. It's a best of seven.
Jason in Florida, Hi, Jason, what's on your mind?

Speaker 8 (26:56):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (26:56):
I did How are you great?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Great?

Speaker 10 (26:57):
Jason?

Speaker 13 (27:00):
Well, I just had a question for you. So I
just came back yesterday from the Metallica concert at Virginia Tech.
And as you know that, you enter Sandman as their
hype song. And I was wondering, what do you think
which university had the best three game hype song or tradition.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I would have to look at the list of different
songs with different schools, because everybody has won a hype
song either before the game.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Some have it going into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
But yeah, Metallica did Enter Sandman, and Virginia Tech that's
their football song, their hype song. But did Virginia Tech
do that before Marianna Rivera, the Yankee closer, did that
because he was ter Sandman. And then I think Billy Wagner,
the reliever for the Mets, did Enter Sandman at the

(27:51):
same time Rivera was doing inter Sandman, So I'm not
sure which came first. Marianna Rivera got a lot of
publicity because the Yankees were winning and he's a Hall
of Famer, Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 7 (28:05):
According to the Virginia Tech sports website, they debuted the
song August twenty seven, two thousand, when they had their
new video scoreboard. The first time they played Enter sand Okay,
they would not be first.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
No, this is Marianna Rivera's right, correct.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
Yeah, football, it's votech baseball's mode.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Yeah, the originator is Marianna Rivera. Yeah, I'd have to
look at the hype songs. But does Wisconsin have jump Around?
Florida has Tom Patty Don't back Down, back Down? Yeah,
I'd have to look at that. I mean, Enter Sandman
and to have them there on campus and they are

(28:47):
performing it. That's pretty good stuff. So Jason, thank you.
We'll we'll have to do some research on that. Mike
and Buffalo. Hi, Mike, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 9 (28:57):
We stop pretending that Jason Tatum is anywhere near what
Kevin Durant was back in his prime.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
It is exhausting and this guy clearly does not belong
in the conversation. You're exhausted, Mike over this conversation. Yeah, okay,
all right, all right, fine. I don't know, and thanks
for the phone call. I don't know if anybody is
comparing Jason Tatum to Kevin Durant, but I guess if

(29:25):
we are, then Okay, Kevin left his team because he
couldn't beat the champions. Oh, I think you got to
factor that in too, Yes, Marvin, you.

Speaker 12 (29:37):
Know was doing that because Kevin Durant was playing in
the Olympics. Jason Tatum, Jason Tatum just won NBA title.
He was sitting the bench. But who are you going
to take at eight games? Lebron James, Jason Tatum, Kevin Durant,
Jason Tatum.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Sorry, you're out.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
And they went with the old guys. Now, Steve Kerr
went with the old guys in the Olympics.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
But who are you trusting the old gout?

Speaker 10 (29:59):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (30:00):
Absolutely, yeah, I had no problem with that.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I mean I felt like it became almost this undercurrent
of Hey, I'm going to tune in, and when's Jason
Tatum getting Nobody cared if Jason Tatum was getting in
until he wasn't getting in. Oh, Derek White's out there, Wait,
his teammates out there. Then all of a sudden it
became a bigger story just because of that. If Jason

(30:25):
Tatum played nine minutes a game, nobody cares about this story.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
But it's all of a sudden. Oh, Steve Kerr, whatce
he got against Jason Tatum? Nothing?

Speaker 2 (30:33):
He just thinks Kevin Durant and Lebron James make more sense.

Speaker 12 (30:37):
Yes, Marvin, Then another Celtics team is going to play more.
Drew Holliden.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Did Peyton Pritchard play on the Olympic team? Did he
get some runs? Al Horford Ill No, he would have
played for Puerto Rico, I believe. But even if he
wasn't woulayed more, he probably would have played more. Oh
my god, Yeah, it became a big deal. And then
I felt bad for Tatum because you just win the title,
but then your running mate gets the credit, he's the

(31:05):
MVP of the finals, and then you get named Jalen
Brown doesn't make the Olympic team, Tatum does, and then
Tatum doesn't play, and then all of a sudden, it's
this big snub. Yes, Paul, I don't know if we
discussed this before. Would you rather not make the Olympic
team or make it and not play publicly?

Speaker 12 (31:24):
That's a toughie.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
I'd rather make the team.

Speaker 7 (31:27):
You get a medal.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
I would rather make the team. It's a great You
still get a medal, you get a great seat. Yeah,
you just don't you hope that you're You know when
you go to a party when they go, hey, give
me your favorite moments from winning the gold medal, and
then Jason Tatum has to go, well, you know, I
got to watch Steph Curry and I got to watch

(31:48):
Kevin Durant and then Lebron James and we had a
nice dinner and no, no, what are your memories of
playing in the well?

Speaker 4 (31:57):
Once again? In warm ups? I was really good. I
was on fire.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Uh Dakota in Kentucky, Hi, Dakota, Hey.

Speaker 9 (32:08):
What's up? Dan?

Speaker 5 (32:11):
I'm calling because I think that Jason Tatum has been
carried Jalen Brown, and I think he's Jalen Brown's overrated.
Are there has there been like another scenario where you
think like other players have carried because I feel like
if Derek White is in that position, he does almost
the same numbers and also suck at Fritzy.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
All right, okay, all right, I gotta get that.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Here a couple of shots there that Jalen Brown carries
Jason Tatum or is it Jason Tatum carries Jalen Brown.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
I didn't agree with most of that call xcept for
the then he salvage did oh no, see this guy
does get it.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Sucker Fritzy. By the way, that folks at a Celebrity
Family Feud wanted to know what our name tags were
going to be, and I made a decision on Fritzy,
Fritzy goes Can I go with Todd? And I go, No,
your name is Fritzy on Celebrity Family Feud, which is fine.

Speaker 10 (33:07):
It was more should I go because they were saying, well,
Steve usually goes by the first name of all the contestants,
and I explained that that's my name on the show,
and even away from the show, I'm kind of referred
more as Fritzy than Todd's.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Yes, really cool with that. Yeah, yeah, you're fritzy. Yeah.
I didn't do Seatan.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I didn't uh, And I didn't say anything about your
name on your name card or Marvin.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Yeah, but you guys are good, Marvin and PAULI are good.
But I'm not sure what your card is going to
see since your your real first name is Patrick, but
your middle name is Setan.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
They emailed me yesterday and what are you going to
go with Setan?

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Oh good?

Speaker 11 (33:46):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Yeah. They said your name is Patrick, right, and clearly
there's been a question. Yeah, so I said I'd rather
put semen. Can you put semen on there please?

Speaker 4 (33:58):
For my mom? Arrest Soul have to check with legal.

Speaker 9 (34:01):
We'll get back to.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
That's this, that's the Steve Harvey face. Yes, your name
is what. I don't know how my mom got to
that name for you, but she would always ask hal Seaman.
I said, Mom, it's Seatan, Okay. Uh tell McLevin. Uh,
I'm gonna buy him a comb. He's got a comb

(34:24):
his hair.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
I go, all right, These were the things my mom
cared about Seatan and UH and mcleven. All right, we'll
take a break. More phone calls coming up top of
the hour. The UH radio analyst TV analysts for the Celtics,
Cornbread Maxwell, we'll join us. We'll take a break. Play

During the commercial break, Dylan came out of the back
room and informed us that you're playing the lottery. Your
lottery ticket went from a dollar to five dollars dollars

(36:11):
to five, two dollars to five. Okay, you're a big
lotto guy, I am.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Okay, Yeah, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Yeah, I think I only play it when we do
it collectively as a group. When it gets to one
hundred billion dollars or something something like that would be
a good one to hit one hundred billion. Yeah, I
would still come in the next day.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
See.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
The problem is is there was like a sort of
like a perfect five dollar combo that I would hit.
Usually twice a week. You could get a Powerball ticket,
a Mega Million's ticket. Those are the big national lotteries.
Each of those was two dollars a piece, and then
you throw in the local Connecticut lottery for a dollar,
and you're kind of in all of the big ones.
You do that like twice a week, you know, five

(36:51):
or ten dollars. I didn't mind blowing that, you know,
but five dollars for one ticket. Now, hell no, hell no.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
I can't do it.

Speaker 7 (36:59):
Yeah, Paul, and Powerball, the national game, like you said,
it was two dollars for a ticket and the minimum
jackpot would be twenty million. Supposedly, with this new system,
it'll be a minimum of fifty million when the lottery
opens after there's a win.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Yeah, but the odds are still terrible. Yeah, the odds
are still it's two hundred and ninety millions, slightly less
than almost completely impossible. Okay, but you play, yeah, heck yeah, yeah, yeah,
what's the most you've won? Yeah, but no, my point
being that you raised it. You more than doubled the price,

(37:32):
and the odds are almost still next to impossible. That's
my point. I don't mind now, I'm good with next
to impossible, but not at five dollars apiece.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
And how much have you won a on a ticket?

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Uh? On a couple bucks? Nothing, nothing crazy?

Speaker 4 (37:47):
One time? You know what I did? Have happened?

Speaker 3 (37:48):
One time? I was one number off for every single number,
so I would I would have won like three hundred
and fifty million dollars. But if the say, if the
winning numbers were all like odd numbers, like one, three, five, seven.
I had two, four, six, eight. Damn it.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
I was one off on every single number.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
How does that happen?

Speaker 9 (38:09):
Todd?

Speaker 10 (38:09):
We once had five of the six numbers and we
were temporarily freaking out, thinking that's got to be worth something.
And it turns out that particular game, like twelve hundred
people had five numbers of the six for whatever reason,
and it went down to like about eight hundred dollars payout,
when you normally would think that five of the six
numbers would have to be many, many thousands.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Yeah, that was weak.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Justin in upstate New York. Hi, justin.

Speaker 14 (38:32):
Hey, dan uh five seven, one hundred and sixty pounds.

Speaker 5 (38:39):
All right.

Speaker 14 (38:40):
So the number one song in the nation on the
Billboard charts when I was born was actually Betty Davis Eyes,
which in my opinion is not bad. So I was
wondering if you guys knew or wanted to look up
your birthday songs.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Well, mine's May fifteenth, nineteen fifty six. Maybe it's an
Elvis song. I'm not sure, Marvin, do you know I do?

Speaker 12 (39:10):
Kenny Loggins Footloose was the number one song eight but
thirteen nineteen eighty four, Yes, Todd.

Speaker 10 (39:16):
I'm looking at your birthday of May fifteen, nineteen fifty six,
and would be the King Heartbreak Hotel.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Okay, yep, that's pretty much my theme song throughout my
high school days.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Uh seating What about You?

Speaker 3 (39:28):
The number one song in America July twenty fourth, nineteen
seventy eight, Shadow Dancing Andy Gibb.

Speaker 10 (39:34):
Oh, that's a.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Great fire fire I don't think it. Yeah, Paulie, what
about you?

Speaker 7 (39:40):
I have on my birthday Honky Talk Woman by Rolling Stone. Oh,
that's pretty good. And a boy named Sue Johnny Cash
was number.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
Twoh, that's not a bad one. Honky Talk Women.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
That's a great song that that comes on and you're
in a good mood. U James in Cincinnati, Hi James,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 9 (40:06):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (40:06):
James?

Speaker 5 (40:08):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (40:08):
We lost James?

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Marvin is your phone acting up? Okay? But Tyler is
gonna get blamed and.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
It's his birthday he is, and I feel bad Tyler. Yeah,
I mean he gets blamed, but he gets blamed for
things he should get blamed for, not his Make sure

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Dang, dang, I would lean towards Celtics in seven and
Nixon seven. I mean, I know that's not an option there,
but I think it's going seven games.

Speaker 12 (41:17):
Yes, Marvin, I'm gonna enjoy the fake nick fans in
celebrity row.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Here we go. Now they have something to cheer about.
