How the hell we feel in here on an extra
three hours arrest?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Huh? Good morning?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Yeah, I feel like amazing, although a little disappointed. The
Masters is already in a rain delays.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Oh, come on, var Oh the rain delay for the mess.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Is what I will say this though, If there's any
course that will make sure that they play and get
all these rounds of golf in it's augusta National, all right.
I did have the blessed opportunity of going and playing there,
and I'll never forget the morning when it was raining
and we were having breakfast, were like, oh no, I
might not get an opportunity to get out there. There

(01:22):
was a gentleman in a rain suit with a blower
while it was raining. That's great blowing the green, I
want to say. I think it was on number nine
and I was like looking, I was looking thinking to myself,
he does realize, like, it's just going to keep rating
for at least in the next thirty minutes. But that
is how well manicured that course is and how much

(01:42):
they care about that thing. So they will play some
golf today at some point whenever it stops.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Gosh, he was blowing it in the rain.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I mean, what's you know Listen, you know it gives.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Them less blow when it stops raining. You know. Yeah,
I think they don't want puddling. That's small.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Oh now I got to ask you because I have
not had the opportunity to go to Augusta National because
there's sort of a you know for people that don't know,
like there's kind of an elite class of people that
are allowed even on near the course. Like if I
walk near the course, I would get tased and hand
handcuffed and be told to go away. But Brady, you
go there and it's like, not only can you go,

(02:20):
you can play around of golf and don't worry about it.
Mother nature is going to acquiesce to you so you
can get your round of golf in. So does it
look as beautiful in person as it does? Maybe not
right now because it is raining, But does it look
as beautiful in person as it does on television? Because
on television, the way they dress it up, it looks magical.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
It actually looks better. It's even better than you could
imagine because everything on TV. You usually go there and
you think, okay, this is made for TV. There's gonna
be some defects. There's gonna be something. There is not
a weed that is anywhere on that course on top
for however many acres it is, there is not one
thing that's to place, not any mult pinestraw, nothing like.

(03:03):
That place is immaculate. I've never seen anything like that.
It doesn't feel like real life. And so once you
go there you can understand the hype and the reason
why everyone kind of used that place as so special.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Just different. When I had that experience.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
That's it, none of it all over. Hey, So when
you're watching the bastards and you marry me, none of it,
none of it grabs you, and you go, man, that's
that's a beautiful place. I'd love to be there because
some of who yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Oh no, come on, I'm not even really I'm just
interjecting just to poke at at Q and sort of
count at you as well, because all I have to
do is say.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Tiger, what's back? He's back? What how's he back?

Speaker 3 (03:51):
It's right? Well, you know, tigers don't like water, so
I don't know how that's gonna play out. They just
can swim. They can swim. They just don't like ton
Then now they don't like it. They just you know,
they can swim. They just you know, cats, you know,
they stay away from the water, you know, but they
can't swim.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
You know, what do you mean don't like water?

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Yeah, we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
They don't like water.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
They don't excellent swimmers.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
And they didn't Tiger Woods say yesterday when we heard him,
And if you're wondering where you can hear us slapping
around here on Fox Sports Radio there normally six to
nine am Eastern Time, three to six am Pacific time.
It's two pros and a cup of Joe. That's where
you can find this show. But you know, we were
talking yesterday in that time slot about Tiger Woods. Wasn't

(04:37):
he saying that he wanted some humidity, he wanted some
warmer weather.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, for forts joints. But but the rain isn't good
for your joints. That pools at your you know, at
your injuries. It's sore, real humid, it's it's sore.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
There's gonna be mosquitoes the size of seven forty seven zone.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
No, not at the Masters, it's too manicure. They'll blow
them bad boys right on off they do. Bet they
I bet they got like a mesquite mosquitoes just disappear.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Yeah, something like the stick to you know, they got
Scottie on the s S Enterprise beaming them up.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
They out of there, straight to space.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I would have loved to have been somebody working at
an ACE Hardware in southern California and they go, is
that LeVar Arrington? What's he doing in here? He's buying
a mosquito racket near the registered.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Because that's the truth. That's the truth. And let me
tell you something about that. Oh I bangled banglem that. Listen,
you have not had a true experience until you have
zapped an insect. I'm just saying, and to all the
peed of people out there that want to protect the

(05:48):
insects and all that stuff, I will zap a bee's
ass too, just so you know, I'll knock them all down.
You come near me while I got my my swater,
my fly tocintegrator on. You're added here, I don't care.
I'll hit my kids with it. I'll try to take
them up out of it. I don't care if you
can get.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Bugs, and I don't know I've ever seen him take
a strong stance against bugs.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Who's that pete? I was just I was joking, I
hope not. I mean, you know, but some birds, uh,
some some insects have like fur on them, don't they like?
What about a hummingbird gets that's considered an insect? Isn't
it a humming bird? Yeah? I think it's a word bird.
That's why they call it a humming bird.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yeah, I think the word bird kind of like veered
it towards the bird category.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Well, since you guys want to be smart asses, you
know they call dolphins killer. Well, you know, Okay, relax, relax.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Look, I'm just uh, you know, don't shoot the messengers.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
They do call them birds. You're a bird.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I'm just excited for Tiging to be back. I'm rooting
for him, man, but I'm rooting for him.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
He looks strong, like he bends over slow and he
gets there eventually. But all the highlights that I've seen
of him, he looks real strong, real broad. He's he
fills out his outfit. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Is he still working? I mean, this is right here.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Oh gonna die? We have waited to kill me in
hour three.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
We'll play this at your funeral, though.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
I hope you guys give give him a wonder. You
get my eulogy, and and they have this song on
while you're doing it. Like LeVar, he truly truly was
a good man that truly tru hated this song.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Now, let me ask you a question. I'm assuming you
would want to.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Be buried with the Tiger woods.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Well, the hall of Fame ring, your college football hall
of Fame ring. Now do we also put the bugs
apple racket on the casket or.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Insand it's a great question, man, that is a great question.
I almost feel like, you know, like in ancient times,
you know, like in Egypt when they used to mumfi
them and all that stuff, and they put the one
thing in their hand and then the other thing in
their other hand, and they crossed them up, and it's
like they had like a hulk like look and then
like a staff on one side, Like, just give me

(08:16):
two zappers, you know, you know, I'm to loss my
arms up, put the zappers in my hand, and like
this here lies a man that used to zap them.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, you know, I have a question on this, and
I feel like you guys would be the experts to
go to on this. It's a question about mummies. If
you were gonna go to your final place all wrapped up,
wouldn't you want it to be in like some decent outfit.
Like if I'm gonna go wrapped up, like give me
like a nice leather jacket, good pair of jeans, some shoes,

(08:48):
and if you need to cover my face, give me
a ski mask. I don't want to be wrapped up
in one play toilet paper that somebody saved from COVID
so they could send me to my final place.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I seem more comfortable though, I mean you to your
grave site in a in a herd leather jacket. I
mean that leather is gonna get a little bit like
kind of uncomfortable at some point while you're resting.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Were talking about like those guys are still like from
rock bands from like from the sixties, they're still performing.
All those guys are in leather.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
How often do you go to sleep with your leather
leather jacket that you'd.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Be wearing, and how much I drink?

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Being honest, Well, that well, if we're being honest, then
if I had a leather jacket on last night, I
may slur a couple of words. I've already heard three
words I've slurred. I may slur a word or two
today because I might still be a little hit I'm
just telling y'all how I got. I got hit up
last night. Stay college, baby, we are I got hit up?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Can you explain to the Dan Patrick listeners who are
unaware of your location and why you were excited about
the later star time.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Because I'm in State College, Pa, Mike people, and uh, well,
so I'm here. It's blue White weekend, it's spring football
going on, obviously, but I'm also here doing some nil
business hung out with the other sports teams with a
panel that I did last evening. It was awesome. It
was great, and did a kind of like a shark

(10:15):
tank deal earlier yesterday and got those things out of
the way. But once I finished up that panel, guys,
it was LaVar Allen time and it went down. I
didn't count. I didn't want to count. But they you know,
the the fair here is improving tremendously, like we're updating

(10:36):
so much now. So I was eating oysters last night, man,
I had I had, uh what what type of baked
chicken or like roasted chicken and mushroom risotto with some
asparagus and some oysters. And I didn't count how many
LaVar islands that I had. And that, my friends, is

(10:58):
why I sound the way that I sound. I mean,
I feel like I sound good, but I may What
a LeVar island is though, yeah, as well, it's a
it's a long island that you know, Kean and Jonas
named LeVar Island because well, that's my poison of choice.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
And for those of you don't know what a long
island is, just think about every alcohol ever created in
one glass at the time.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
LeVar doesn't know this, but here's what I do. When
I do choose to go have a LeVar Island, I
will ask for it, and I may I have to
make sure they bring it out in a cold mug
or a cold glass. You know what I do on
the side of that glass, LeVar put in the sticks.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah, we'll shout out to Matt McGloin.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Yeah, he's running for the Board of Trustees, is he?
The election is coming up, man, it should be interesting
and the real competitive around here to get on that
board to trust I'm.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Just gonna say, I'm just wondering. But usually when you're
on those boards, there comes a significant donation or donations
that have already been made that helps helps the cause
from getting Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Yeah, you do. You do fund your your candidacy to
get onto the Board of Trustees, which, by the way,
you don't get paid to do. I pay attention to
our Board of Trustees politics, and if you ever want
to be entertained, just just find a way. I'll send

(12:27):
you some links and stuff so you could pay attention
to it. But it gets pretty interesting. I mean you
would think that there was it's right and left, you know,
that's that's going forward. Seats and well, I wouldn't say
you wouldn't think it's kind of what it is. It's interesting,
you know. It's very like game of throne ish around here.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Yeah, you could get it. You go running for a
board seat, a route you can get you can get it.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
You can get that work.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
You get that work, man, it's a little competitive.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Well, listen, it is the Dan Patrick Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox in
for DP and the guys here, and we are going
to take you all the way up until noon Eastern time,

are going to tell you about somebody in the world
of sports who might have found out a little late
in the game that there's a problem with the next destination.

(13:23):
You'll hear from him next here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 5 (13:38):
It's me three time pro bowler LeVar Rington, and I
couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up
on Game?

Speaker 3 (13:45):
What is Up on Game?

Speaker 5 (13:46):
You assd along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman,
Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right, Plexico Burris.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen
to Up on Game with Me LeVar Arrington, t J.

(14:08):
Huschman's Ouda and Plexico Burrs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple
Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast from.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
So Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio, LeVar Arrington,
Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox in for Dan and the dan Ets.
Coming up in a little over twenty minutes from now,
we're going to tell you about the latest interesting little
wrinkle to the top of the NFL Draft. Apparently there's
a meeting going on between a couple of key members

(14:42):
of the speculation about what could happen with quarterbacks at
the top of the draft. We'll give you the details
on that again coming up here a little over twenty minutes.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
You're going to say, like a rule change for quarterbacks
or now I like went against them? Why what? Well?
Imagine that any imagine.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
That anybody gets some blowback for some commentary or.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
No you know, oh no, I mean sometimes you nothing.
I mean sometimes you know, sometimes you have friends that
are part of these decision making bodies, and you know,
and y'all got to have discussions about it. You know,
I would assume, but you know, hey, anyways, I digress.

(15:24):
I just thought that that's where you were heading, like, oh,
there was going to be a rule that was discussed
by the Competition Committee, and we'd hear quotes from coaches
talking about how, you know, this just can't be a
part of the game. These quarterbacks can be allowed to
do that. Imagine hearing that type of narrative or conversation
take place as it applied to quarterback.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Can you say uh and kind of allude to what
we're talking No?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
No, no, no, hell no.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Can I just for the audience that is unaware.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
You can give context. We talked about tackling and the
drop the tackling drop hip or hip drop drop drop
it like it's hot. I don't know, you know, all
these these labeling of tackling and all that stuff, And
we discussed that on the show yesterday and I got
a little, uh inflamed, a little fired up, I gotta

(16:16):
tap it inflamed That's all I just think. Got some point.
What's gonna happen is is that you're not going to
be able to say that this offensive player was a goat,
Like this quarterback wasn't that good, Like, oh, he threw
for more yards than Drew Brees and Tom Brady, so
what Oh this running back, what amazing run he's had.

(16:37):
No nobody cares. Get your get your points, get your touchdowns.
It's great. You've put defenders in a position where they
can't defend. So when you see all of this success
that these offensive guys are going to have, just know
that you're you're limiting defenses to a place where they

(16:57):
can't really do their jobs. And you know what, like
so be it, but don't get mad when these defenders
start feeling like, you know what, we're we're so underappreciated
and so undervalue that we're going to line up out
here and we're going to get our cash. And the
only thing that matters is well trying to break on
the ball when the ball is in the air, or

(17:20):
trying to get a sack when a sack is appropriate. However,
you get that sack and that's about it. That's that's
really kind of all you'll see from defenders at some point.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Isn't it interesting that the person from you know, I
guess in the league that got upset about this is
also a defender kind of jan.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
If you're being a dbag, don't do that, don't do that.
I'm just saying, don't do that.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
I'm just saying, how far is it?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Don't stop? Don't you don't want to go? Because no,
I don't want that's too far. All right, that's too
far getting cut? Then I'm going to get excommunicated because
you decided to be funny on a segment.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
I'm not being funny. I'm just saying there there's nothing.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I'm never sharing anything, which I never have. So you
noticed one thing that was very prevalent in this this
exchange that took place. We didn't hear one word from
Brady Quinn.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
You know, I want to stay out of these exactly.
I trying to stick to the script.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
Exactly. Let's go back to the script quarterbacks at the
top of the draft.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
And that wasn't it, Oh.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
That wasn't what was What was the script? That was?

Speaker 4 (18:29):
That was Jonas's tease that then let us.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Tell but it was a dark path.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
But I would say that could be a quarterback driving
a Mercedes pretty quick here.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, well yeah, let.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Me try to save us here and say it is
brilliant that you bring it up. It's also brilliant the
e q E s u V from Mercedes Benz with
available digital light technology. It's so smart, guys, even the
headlamps are thinking the vehicle is all electric. The feeling
is all Mercedes. Learned more about Mercedes ns us A

(19:05):
Dash SUV.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
That's what I'm talking about. Hate tigers.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
So what John Calipari.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
Okay, yeah, transition, Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Well I'm just saying, you know, he went from being
a wildcat to a razorback.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
There you go, there you go. So can a wildcat
beat a razorback? They're too small? Aren't they small? No? No, no,
aren't wildcats smart? Small? Not sure?

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Not as big as an I know that.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Yeah, that's right, John.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
John Calipari was introduced this coming a day after he
gave listen to a very you know, I felt heartfelt
speech to the Kentucky fan base, and they need to
uh you know, he was looking around for he was
looking around for, you know, just potentially there's been some
other opportunity. But you know, he just decided to say

(20:02):
he will always be rooting for the Kentucky Wildcats and
their bran base fifteen great years national championship. And so
then all of a sudden, and it must have happened
like quick, that Arkansas pounced on John Calipari. He couldn't
say no, and he agreed to a deal to become
their next head coach, and then had this to say
yesterday at a press conference.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
You know what, I'm jacked about another opportunity, Like I'm like,
let's go.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Now I met with the team.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
There is no team, So.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Now I gotta.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Hunter's really extremely confident. But we got to get a
roster together and some of.

Speaker 7 (20:43):
It, it's a little bit of everything, but we will.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Hold on. Weren't all the weren't all of those oxymorons.
I met with the team. There was no team. Isn't
that you got work to do?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
They got they got some roster construction to do.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
We got a little we got a little bit to
fix with everything is wrong.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
I met with the team. There is no team. But
as soon as he said that. My mind literally went
into Fanville, Arkansas, of John Calipari sitting in the locker.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Room and no one else being there.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I'd be like, well, I guess I gotta build this
team now.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Guys, first team meeting at ten am. It's eleven thirty
and nobody's in the room.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Still. It was a great meeting with the team. There
is no team.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Let me say this, in hearing these words from John Calipari,
this is a cautionary tale for those Arkansas fans who
are excited. Yeah, he's pointing out the fact that he
likes having talented players who have the potential chance of
going to the NBA, and those guys can test the
waters if they don't sign with an agent and they

(21:47):
can see potentially where they go, and if if you know,
they don't get drafted where they like, they're not drafted
at all, they can come back. Right, That's what he's
speaking to But I already feel like that was a
bit of the issue for his time at Kentucky was
instead of looking at maybe what other players are in
the transfer portal that he can start to build his

(22:09):
roster around, He's got to be patient and got to
wait either for kids who want to come play for him,
that were committed to him at Kentucky or on that
roster of Kentucky or NBA caliber guys that now want
to come to Arkansas. And that was part of the
issue that Kentucky fans had was it was all about
the NBA. It was all about, well, look how many

(22:30):
guys I've gotten drafted in first round. And I'm not
saying that that's wrong in a sense, it just can't
all be about that. It can't always be about whatever
school you're apping a stepping stone to the next level,
because then you're not doing what you're paid there to do,
and that's to win. And I'll be the first to
tell you the NCAA March maadis that tournament is the

(22:51):
most difficult to win. Now, I say that, and Dan
Hurley's one of the last two years in done it
in dominant fashion. But there was a year a period
of time where there's a lot of success for John Calipari,
and I think after that that first five year, that
incredible run he was on, they got a little more complacent.

(23:12):
There was more competitiveness as far as that the talent
that they were getting. For one and donees, even though
they always had a top one or two class with
maybe one exception over his entire fifteen year career there.
The reality was is John Calipari in the last four
or five years had lost it. He had lost that
sense of urgency. He had lost a lot of really

(23:34):
the perspective of what brought him there in the first
place that he wrote about in his own book. And
I know you guys have heard me going this ran before,
but the truth is, this can work for Arkansas because
this is a program that if you just look at
the contract that John Calipari signed with Arkansas, a five
year deal with the salary that begins at seven million
per season, and you look at the fact that they're

(23:57):
going to give him a bonus just for making the tournament,
whereas meanwhile he was getting fired because he wasn't doing
enough in the tournament at Kentucky. That's just two programs
at different stages. And rightfully so, I mean, UK is
a blue blood. They should be disappointed with what's happened
the last four or five years. And so I think

(24:19):
this could work for Arkansas, but also could be a
good and a fresh start for a Kentucky fan base.
And Big Blue Nation that's dying for someone who wants
to come back in and win championships, that's dying for
them to come back that have more success even in
the SEC tournament play, not just the regular season, but
tournament play as well as the NCAA tournament and not
being just all about first round picks, but about winning

(24:41):
in Lexington. And so this could be something that I
think works for both sides, But there are elements of
it that just throughout the course of the last seventy
two hours, maybe the past week, that felt just a
little out of touch with what has occurred in Lexington
during John Calipari's last four or five years there.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
No, he's taken a pay cut, you know, he was
making eight and a half million of Kentucky's making seven
here just to chase happiness, to get away from a
fan base that did nothing but complain. I feel for him,
you know, all the success he's had there fifteen years,
a national championship. Yeah, so what they've been eliminated in
the first game of the tournament two of the last
three appearances. Listen, no get caught up in the weeds.

(25:19):
Point is he did a lot for Kentucky and to
be disrespected like this, and you guys chased him away
to Fayetteville. You gotta be ashamed of yourselves.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
They chased them away.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Yeah, chased them away. He wanted to stay.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
You heard him. I mean, it was a great it
was an opportunity that he couldn't pass up. I mean,
let's be real about it. He talked to the team.
There was no team that he left for a great opportunity.
You know, there was such an upgrade, even though he
took that pay cut so that he could have his
great opportunity. You know, it was because he was going
to go check out this team that had such great

(25:52):
potential connected to it. And then he met with him
and there were nobody. There was nobody there to talk
my talk to the team.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
There is no team.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
There is no team.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
I do find it interesting though, just from some of
the ports, you know that his you know, comments about hey,
he has to have to go around, you know, raising
more NIL funds, and they've got that all set up
here at Arkansas. It's like, okay, well, I mean for starters.
Isn't that part of your job now? Like, isn't that
just the part of the job of any head coach
at the college level is as how they're involved in
a nil and how they're going about fundraising and construct

(26:25):
you know, constructing some of these rosters.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Tim tim Brando made the point talking about Patino during
the Big East Tournament. He said, Look, a lot of
people were unhappy with their performance early on, but you
have to understand Rick was like going out trying to
raise nil for Saint John's, Like that was a big
part of his job early in the season. That's how
it is now.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Yeah, that's the reality. That's one of the hats you
have to word. That's one of the reasons and not
to like completely segue to a different sport, but well,
I was gonna say, if you look at Ryan Day
and Ryan Day who you know, brought in Chip Kelly
tip k and Ryan Day's not calling plays anymore and
he just wants to oversee the whole entire operations because
that's what's required. Now. You are essentially a CEO of

(27:04):
the entire operation at you know, in college football, college basketball,
and that's what you're responsible for, is talent acquisition, talent retention.
You know, you're ultimately the one that's going to make
the final say on who you're bringing in from a
high school level from the transfer portal and what that
looks like and overseeing the entire thing, and so you
don't have as much time for x's and o's and

(27:25):
fundamental and scheme ultimately you're responsible for. But you've got
to have a leadership structure that you can delegate those tasks,
and you've can allow a guy like Chip Kelly to
come in who's obviously got head coaching experience a bunch
of it from his time at multiple places NFL in
college that you can rely on. And I think he's
done that with Jim Knowles as his defensive coordinator. He's

(27:46):
done that with Chip Kelly. But that is the new
modern structure of what I think it takes now. And
in college there's elements of that too. But when you
hear a coach say he you know, he's going to
a program that's got a top five nil you know budgets.
Oh okay, well what do you think Kentucky's was Do
you think they're not part of that top five? I mean,
how do you get a top one or two class

(28:06):
every single year? In recruiting? Kentucky has a bounty of resources,
So what I would be concerned by. If I'm an
Arkasols fan, is Yeah, it's great. You're getting a Hall
of Fame coach, and no one can take that away
from coach cal Wherever he's been, he's always been able
to recruit. But can he allow this team to develop
and Gael together? Can he you know, develop players that

(28:29):
can he make the adjustments in critical games? That's been
the frustration I think of a lot of Kentucky fans,
at least of late, and it almost feels like this
is kind of one of those final contracts, final deals
you get on your way into retirement. So I'll be
curious to see how this all works out. But it
could work out for both sides of it, where Kentucky
gets a fresh start and obviously in Arkansas they get

(28:49):
a Hall of Fame coach that can come in and
bring some new life to a basketball program.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
What do you think they're throwing a Dan Hurley? Like
I saw the eleven million report, but like at what point,
like how far are they will to go to try
and to try and entice him, Because.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
I'm well paying a basketball coach more than the top
coaching college football right now.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
I mean, think about that that's what's out there. I mean,
he's what he's done is I mean, the only other
one that has an argument would be Kirby smart Over
just his dominance at the college level, like or even
maybe even Don Staley if you want to go. The
women's are out, but I just I mean they.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Got dont she's getting paid.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
It feels like the Kentucky sertch. I mean, it's taken
on a whole new level. Your guy Chip gains from
you know, the Magnolia Network and fix her upper. Now
he's going back and forth with you know, Kentucky fans
because they are trying to entice Scott Drew. He's a
big Baylor alum, so he's trying to make sure Scott

(29:48):
Drew doesn't go anywhere. Like the whole thing college fans
in college fan bases are psychopaths, but entertaining his hell
at the same time, like nobody loves their program like
big programs fans do of theirs. Like it's wild. Like
that's why when LaVar you talked about it, when James
Franklin was having to defend himself after this past season,

(30:09):
It's like, do you know, like how hard it is
to do what he's done at state college, Like, how
hard it is because he didn't beat Michigan. In Ohio State,
there's a lot of teams, like most everybody in college
football that didn't do that. So just to hear the
fan base's reactions and how passionate they get, it's kind
of wild, man.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
They want what they want. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Another thing is is, look, when you're pulling in resources
and you have recruiting classes like Penn State has, you
can understand some of the frustration from some of the alumni.
I mean when you see guys go on to the
next level and go on to the NFL and everyone like, well,
wait a second, how are we not able to take advantage?
I mean, And the other thing I'd say in that.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Regard is who I mean, it's a valid point.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Well, I look at Michigan over Ohio State of late.
I mean, it's caused Ohio State to make a lot
of these different changes that have been an adjustment for
how they're going into the twenty twenty five season. You
know for Penn State, like you got to make some
of those changes. I mean I told LeVar after watching
some of the tape, I was like, you guys got
to move on from your offense coordinator. I was like,
he's not allowing the quarterback to fully develop into what

(31:11):
I think he's capable of being, excuse me. And then
they eventually did, but it was a little bit too
late at that point in season. But not to get
off on track on the topic of conversation with basketball,
I think what's most interesting about who Kentucky hires next
is how that individual handles the expectations. Because when I
look at like Dan Hurley, for example, as the candidate

(31:34):
everyone wants, and everyone's gonna say, well, everyone wants him
because he's won back to back national championships, and I'd say, yeah,
that's that's part of it. Like why I would think
he would be a great fit for Kentucky is his
his energy, his focus, the way he talks, what his
expectations are, his standards. They match Kentucky. Like you know,
Scott Drews had a bunch of twenty win seasons. That's

(31:55):
great at Baylor, but the reality is you had, like
the Kentucky had a twenty one season during the regular
season and it wasn't enough because of their performance in
the tournament. And that's where you have to have someone
like Dan Hurley, who has got the expectation of they're
not just trying to go out there to win, They're
trying to go out and dominate. That's why he would
be a perfect fit. But there's a lot of Yukon
fans that alum that aren't gonna probably let that happen.

(32:17):
And maybe he doesn't want to move and he likes
what he's built so far, whatever the case may be.
But they need that next head coach to have that
sort of mentality where every single game is life or
death than matters, because that's the type of blue Bud
program they are.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Had they lost the NCAA Tournament, I think he would
have more considered the job, I think, and he made
a point to I look around and going we have
an opportunity to go for three in a row. It's
kind of like the Andy Reid Chiefs, Like once they
won the second one last year, it was like, yeah,
we're not retiring. There was no talk of that, we
want to come back and try and make history. But
I do wonder had they not won the NCAA Tournament,

(32:52):
if he would be more open to the idea of
taking the Kentucky job. You know, if history wasn't on
the other side, but we'll get to see how that
plays out. We're all so gonna wait to see whether
or not the Masters is going to finally tee off
here at some point or another. We're looking at it
still wet there, Yeah, a little wet, a little soaked,
but we'll keep it.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Looks like they're letting the fans walk in.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Yeah there walking in, got you gotta walk in accordingly, though,
like nobody nobody looks too excited. It looks very I
don't know if it's like military would be the right term,
but they've got everybody in check there at Augusta National Like,
there's nobody acting out. Nobody's wearing like a pair of
jeans or like a pair of salmon pants with some
Sperry topsiders. Everybody dressed the part and they are acting

(33:34):
accordingly as we get ready for the first round of
the Masters. Here coming up shortly, so it is the

Lee Lap.

Good morning everybody, Good morning, Jonas, Good morning, Brady, Good
morning LeVar, guys.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
In case you missed this.

Speaker 7 (35:24):
Music to my ears, guys, In case you missed it,
LSU quarterback Jade Daniels, he's set to me Hey, Brady,
good morning everybody, guys. Yeah, Jayden and Daniels said to
meet with the Giants on Monday. But on top of that,
he's also just scheduled a private meeting with the Vikings.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
In case you missed it, that huh miss.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
Okay, yeah, I miss that. I mean that's pretty standard
stuff that goes on this time of year when you're
a team that needs a quarterback. I think both those
teams fall in that category. And Jane Daniels widely viewed
as the second quarterback in this draft class coming off
his Heisman Trophy campaign to Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
So all that makes sense In.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Now, Washington's meeting with McCarthy, Drake May and Jayden Daniels.
What do you think about that? That's massive news.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Oh yeah, I mean God forbid you. You go and
make sure you meet with all of them to see
which one you like the best.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Right, Well, what goes on in those private meetings at
when you.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Are are busying, Oh, you don't want to know?

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Oh, crazy stuff. Yeah, there's a difference of when you
go visit the team and when the team comes and
visits you, unless it's changed. Usually when the team comes
and visits you, you go out to eat and do
all that good stuff. But they will put you through workouts,
to do a film sessions, things like that. When you
go to the team's facility, they can only do kind

(36:41):
of go through like your medical which they should have
from the combine. But in the case of Kayleb Williams,
he opted out of that, so he probably is doing
some of that when he visits teams. But they're gonna
do interviews, They're gonna take you out to dinner, kind
of get to know you, test you on the board,
test you on film, you know what went wrong, what
went right in the season, all those things. But that's
that's since what they're doing.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
It's a really nice world. You know right up, some
plays show the coverages or showed show the schemes. What
you understand. I've never had to do any workouts, thank god,
I ain't. I did not, did not experience that, but
I did have some amazing times going out to get food.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
I will say that what was the best dinner you
went on?

Speaker 3 (37:22):
I wouldn't remember the name of the places, but I'll
tell you what the time I went to New York
before I ended up going there for my last season
in the league, it was that was a very very
nice place to go dine. I'll tell you that.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
Free agent free agent's a little different though, compared to
the like draft draft prospects, because like that's already proven,
like at that point, they're really trying to sell you know,
sell you and entice you. It's a little different when
you're a prospect because you're kind of interviewing still like
they're the ones that pick you.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
You know, I agreed, but they were still pre draft
negotiating back though, sore it was kind of the same
because they were they were trying to convince me. Believe me,
Cleveland and Washington were trying to convince me when I
was on those those visits. They they were very very

(38:14):
persuasive visits to say that these damn.

Speaker 4 (38:18):
Very ultimately, I mean again, it kind of comes down
to who they want to select.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Yeah, a little different.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
What else, guys? In case you missed this.

Speaker 7 (38:27):
An update on that show hey O Tawni story, The
New York Times reported yesterday that his ex interpreter, Epaid
Mizuhara now faces federal charges over the alleged theft, and
as the negotiations to plead guilty to those charges. Uh
prosecutors also add that they have uncovered evidence that he
stole more than that four point five million dollars that
he was initially accused of embezzling, and have reported that

(38:48):
they believe he changed these settings on Otani's bank account
so that he would not be able to receive alerts
about any of the transitions.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Had no knowledge of any of this. That's uh man.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
I thought it might go the opposite direction. I thought
that it was like, Okay, they then sold him out.
He's the fall guy, and at some point he's going
to realize how bad this is and he gonna roll over.
But it sounds as though dude was just a bad dude,
and it's all starting to come out. Now.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Yeah, you know, even if it came out that Otani
was gambling, who cares?

Speaker 3 (39:23):
You know, like he's in trouble.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
I mean, but if he's not gambling on his baseball games,
if he's not you know, if fixing games or anything
like that, who gives. Who gives a rip? The guy
wants to go throw down a couple of bucks on
on the ponies at Santa Anita, who cares?

Speaker 3 (39:36):
Like, what is the matter? What's different? You can't do that, right,
That's illegal?

Speaker 2 (39:40):
I mean, you know who knows that this? Yeah, I
mean I guess you just thought you could gambling on
other sports, like you know, this guy was being betting
on college football, international soccer, like all these things.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
It's like, you know, I wonder how much knowledge he
actually had of any of the sports he was gambling on.
I mean, I'm not saying that like we do for example,
but we do have to follow a lot of different sports.
I'm wondering if this interpreter was just out there like
being frivolous about this whatever was on, like he wasn't
losing his money. The next thing, you know, he's he's like,

(40:15):
all right, that's let's see what they're doing out there
this year.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
He's chasing for some reason. There's a lot of Oregon
State Hawaii bets for for no reason whatsoever. What's happening
here with Otani? He seems to be very active during
the I listened last game. We can bet on a
lot of times that.

Speaker 7 (40:37):
Yeah, well, keeping the theme there, of course, John tay
Porter for Toronto Raptor Center. John taey Porter is being
investigated over those alleged irregularities regarding prop bets where he uh,
you know, hit the under on all of his uh bets,
where he went, you know, left the game early.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Well.

Speaker 7 (40:53):
Adam Silver has said that he has possibly committed to
cardinal sin and is facing a lifetime ban from the NBA.

Speaker 6 (41:00):
Do you think, like that's a different story, Like how
do you how do you rationalize that a slump, you know,
maybe a guy's just you know, he's not shooting well,
he does get injured playing through something like how do
you start to rationalize some of those things?

Speaker 4 (41:15):
You know, if a player does underperformed.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
And by the way, wouldn't that entice you, like if
you were going through a slump. At least I gonna
get something out of this you just fade yourself, you know.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
To work here a little bit.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
H that's fine, but you can make a little bit
of money on the side.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Right now, hey, let me bet this.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
You know what I mean, the way of hedging yourself.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
I mean to get out of my own way.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Right now, I feel like, you know, let's make a
positive out of this. Please that alright? Something to see here.
