Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's our one on this Wednesday, Dan and The Dance
Dan Patrick Show. And nobody loves love quite like I do.
But I do need the audience's help because it was
a while ago where I think there were some skeptics
in this room about Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift. Was
it true love? Was it a marketing ploy? Was it

(00:28):
a hoax?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Was it you know?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Were they in on the joke? Were they truly in love?
And nobody loves love the way I do? And I said, no,
they're in love. And I made a bet with Fritzy
that when they got engaged that I would hit him
with a wedding cake in the face. But we can't
find the day that I said that. If an audience member,

(00:51):
either on social media or you call in and you
can help us locate that because I can't go through
with the bet until we find the audio that says
that I was going to hit Todd in the face
with the cake if they got engaged, which they did yesterday.
Actually they got engaged two weeks ago, according to Travis's dad.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yes, Hunt.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
I do want to say for the record that I
too love love, but I thought it was gonna be
one of those celebrity Oprah's Deedman kind of things where
a lot of celebrity couples they don't actually go down
the aisle, they get engaged and they just kind of
stay as partners.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Not that this wasn't a real thing.

Speaker 6 (01:22):
I didn't.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I don't think I ever said it was a publicity
stunt that they were together, but it was more of
a I just didn't see them, you know, getting married
anytime in the coming years.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
If you have to know what you're looking for when
you see love, and that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You don't see that.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
To me, I look past it.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
It was obvious to me, it was obvious.

Speaker 6 (01:41):
You were right on it.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yes, that was yes, we Dan.

Speaker 7 (01:43):
I'm mister semantics, you know, with any type of bet,
I'm curious. I remember you and Fritzy having a bet,
just like you said, but I don't remember the language
of the bet. Was it engaged or married? Those are
two different things. And if Fritzy wants to get out
of the bet, that would be a wiggle room. But
we are looking for it act.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
But you have to get engaged though, Yeah, before you
get like a catch.

Speaker 8 (02:03):
You have to complete the process getting there.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Okay, fair enough. Well they're officially engaged.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
The biggest power couple in America made it official yesterday.
Yeah yeah, my round of applause. I love it. I
love it. So the thing I thought, well, a couple
of things I thought of. First of all, I get
to hit Todd with a wedding cake. But also, is
this the last year for Travis kelcey. It sounds like

(02:30):
he's got a very popular podcast with his brother. He
can do a lot of different things. He's going to
have a variety of NFL shows to work on if
he wants to. But it'll be more than that. He'll
be involved in more than just that. He's thirty five
and coming off his least productive season since twenty fourteen.
You got three Super Bowl rings, ten Pro Bowls, and

(02:51):
you're one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.
And no matter what comes next, Kelsey, maybe you chase
one more time title and that would be this year
and then he probably steps away. But on and off
the field, Travis Kelsey has already won. Good Morning, those
watching on Peacock, thank you, downloading the app, those listening

(03:13):
on radio around the country around the world. We say
good morning as well, Fritzi Sat and Marv Pauli yours
truly the backroom guys as well. On this Wednesday Full

All right, Seatan, what's the poll question for the first
hour of this award nominated program.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
I think we're gonna start with two.

Speaker 9 (04:14):
Is Travis Kelsey more likely to retire now that he's engaged.
You just brought that to our attention. I'm gonna start
with that, all right, we're also kicking this around just
a little earlier. The NFL coach that needs to win
a playoff game this season.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Okay or else? All right, done, Dolphin said coach Mike
McDaniel will be on the program. Oh no, yeah, he'll
be on the program final hour.

Speaker 8 (04:37):
I'm gonna pause between those two times.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh my bad, by bad. Shouldn't let him breathe a
little bit. There.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
He's the odds on favorite right now, according to Vegas,
to lose his job or the first to lose his job.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yes, Seaton.

Speaker 9 (04:52):
See, I would put it between him and Brian Dables.
I would too that he that's a fellow right there
that needs to win a game.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
I would probably say Brian Dable because I don't think
they're gonna be that good soon enough for him to
hold onto that job unless he's already been told you're
coaching next year. Mike McDaniel feels like you're on the clock.
You have to make the playoffs. You might have to
win a playoff game, yeah, PAULI.

Speaker 7 (05:16):
Two years ago, under Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins had the
second rank scoring offense in the league. They were eleven
and six, and they were cruising last year little banged
up eight to nine, their offense went down to twenty
second in the league. You definitely get a haul pass,
but it's got to improve, it's got to go back
to twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I think you've got to make the playoffs. Got to
make the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yes, Dodd Rush and Mike.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Tomlin be on that list. Or is it all up
to Aaron Rodgers and how he performed, so does he
get another pass. I know the Steels aren't quick to
fire coaches in their history, but at some points.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I don't know what the odds are with Tomlin because
that they don't fire coaches in Pittsburgh. But the fan
base is fired up of let's get into the playoffs
and actually win a playoff game. And it for me
this and I don't have any information for me, it
feels like this could be Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers last

(06:08):
year's Now Rogers hasn't ruled out playing again and running
it back. But you know, after a while, you know,
your voice gets a little stale. And as great as
Mike Tomlin is and he's going to be a Hall
of Fame coach, maybe there's something else out there, maybe
TV that he would be an analyst there.

Speaker 9 (06:27):
Yeah, I think when we're looking at a conversation like
this or a topic like this, I think that there's
different categories of coaches. That there are coaches who winning
a playoff game would save their job, say like Shane Steichen, right,
if the Colts won a playoff game, all right, dude,
you're good for another year.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yeah, we'll get you there.

Speaker 9 (06:48):
But then there's other people that like winning playoff games
probably isn't enough.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Like maybe, like Zach Taylor needs to win se he does.

Speaker 9 (06:56):
That's a fellow right there that needs to not only
win a playoff game, but go have a run.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Because you can only live off the fumes of going
to a super Bowl for so long. Now, if he
won a super Bowl, then maybe it's a little bit different,
a little bit more of an extended time.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (07:11):
See, It's like there are guys who are trying to
build something is one category, and then other coaches who
are wasting an opportunity. And he might fall into that,
Zach Taylor might fall into that, you know, these wasted
years category.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
And I don't know about Kevin Stefanski with the Cleveland
Browns because I don't know what the expectation level is there.
I've been told expect a little bit more, and to
which I said, to my sores, well, I'm not expecting much.
He goes, expect a little bit more. They will be
They're gonna surprise you.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
I said, Okay.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
If Flacco stays healthy, okay, But if he doesn't, then
it gets really interesting there. And then it gets kind
of choppy because you're not quite sure who's your quarterback
means for the future, and you always have that in
the back of your mind. They have two first round
picks next year. There's a chance that all of these
quarterbacks on the Browns may not be there next year,

(08:12):
or two of the three won't be there next year.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
You got rookie contracts and you got Joe Flacco.

Speaker 9 (08:18):
Yeah, where do you put like a Brian Schottenheimer on
that list?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Oh, I have to give him at least two years.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
And Jerry likes to keep the guys in there that
really don't fight back. Yeah, that they kind of allow
him to be the owner and the coach and the
GM and it's his first year.

Speaker 9 (08:39):
It is, but he also he doesn't I don't think
he has a guarantee after this year either is.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
It just is it one year.

Speaker 9 (08:47):
I think that his contract structure, I think I feel
like Florio posted up about it. His contract structure is
not built for longevity. It's built for a very quick out.
I might be wrong, though, Okay, PAULI do have Schottenheimer's Yeah.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
Seed's partially right because it's a four year contract approximately
four point five million per year, which is very low
in the NFL. But there are some outs, easy outs
after two years.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Okay, yeah, you give him two years. See what he
can do with that roster. Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 8 (09:18):
Going back to the Bengals, I was looking at their history.
They're disturbing. They're very loyal to head coaches.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
They've had two head coaches in twenty four years.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
Marvin Lewis.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
They allowed him a number of losing seasons, but he
never had two in a row. And you know Zach
Taylor hot start, but you know nine and eight the
past two years, no losing season.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Got to make the playoffs, got to make the playoffs.
All the money that you spent in the off season,
got to make the playoffs, yeah, Paul.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Or yes, Uh what about if we put on that list.

Speaker 9 (09:48):
This isn't just a playoff game and this is a
guy that needs to have a significant run. I think
Sean McDermott, Yes, well, he's a great you know, their
regular seasons are great, but.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Buffalo Bills need to go to the title game for sure,
for at least at least I.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Think, Okay, more pressure Dan Campbell or Sean McDermott because
it feels like it's Super Bowl or bust. Yeah, Marvin, I'm.

Speaker 10 (10:22):
Gonna go with Dan Campbell, and I think going off
of the twenty four to seven lead that you had
in an NFC title game, it's time to get back. Yeah,
because it's not like the Bills were up twenty four
to seven on the Chiefs, like, oh, we could have
went to the super Bowl. The Lions could have went already.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (10:36):
I don't know, though, I mean, I think I feel
like there's got to be a lot of pressure on
Sean McDermott. If Josh Allen you have, you know you've
been able to get there, but you just can't get
over the hump necessarily.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (10:51):
I think that if you're a Bills fan, you're looking
You're not looking at the players and saying, why aren't
you doing this?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
It feels like there's been more attention on Sean mcder
in recent years than Dan Campbell because we still I
think we're still trying to figure out the Lions that
that we're told they're good, they should be good, and
they had opportunities. They lose Aiden Hutchinson last year. Now
maybe we get that where you're expected to be a

(11:20):
super Bowl contender.

Speaker 10 (11:21):
Yeah, Marv, Yeah, I keep going with Dan Campbell. Also
because of the home playoff loss against the Commanders. They
got smoked last year at home, but.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
You lost both coordinators in the off season. Still a
good offense, you get Aiden Hutchinson back, and that division
top to bottom. You know, I think people are sleeping
on the Vikings that I mean all of a sudden,
Sam Darnold became, you know, Joe Montana. I mean they
won thirteen games, but you know, all accounts, JJ McCarthy

(11:53):
is playing well, whatever that means to you, but that's
you know what I've read. Hey, he's playing well. Okay,
is he playing well like he did at Michigan or
is he going to play well like an NFL quarterback
because you got to play a little more wellish if
you're going to be an NFL quarterback, not quarterback at Michigan.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Quarterback playing more wellish? Yeah, jealous? Who's most wellish? Most wellish?

Speaker 2 (12:21):
By the way of the week, I have a Dodger
fan and uh he texts all the time. He said,
Taylor Swift got a ring before the padres did I
love the rivalries? I love it.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Ryan in Pennsylvania, Hi, Ry, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 11 (12:43):
Solved your great mystery of the wedding cake bet. I
found a video and there's definitely some discrepancy. It sounds
like Dan said engagement. Fritzy said wedding. So you might
have to find an attorney now to settle at all.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Okay, Ryan, stay on hold the back room. Guys want
to talk to you about, you know, the exact date
on that. So there's a there's a damn discrepancy.

Speaker 8 (13:12):
I knew it would be semantics.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Well, we can vote on it, and if you guys
want to let Fritzy off the hook on that, yeah,
you know, let me find it first and then we
can listen to it. But I thought that the bet
was an engagement before I retired. For some reason, I
thought that there was a time frame to this. Yes, yes, Ton, I.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Am interested to see what was. I can't honestly can't
remember it. If I'm doer cake, then so be it.
It's fun content, but I'm hopefully we can find it
and they get to the bottom.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
That doesn't help it them. It doesn't mean does not
help them. You had nothing to say.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
There, they didn't.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
I guess you thought.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Everybody has body language.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
I didn't raise my hand.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
All the dants have body language that I'm you know,
I'm trying to call them out because if you're listening
on radio, I want you to know the name and
the voice. And Todd leaned in, Seaton has a little
bit of a hand up, PAULI puts one finger up,
Marv leans in or he'll have his hand up five
or six times in a row. And just trying to

(14:17):
read body language there, how about we take a break.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
We're just getting started. I love love.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
I didn't mean to confuse you there.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
It's okay.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
You need to get away from the mic a little
bit more so you don't think I'm trying to say something.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Well, it's almost like you're leaning into the microphone, as
if you're going to be able to hear in the microphone,
like you're leaning in to hear what I'm saying odd.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
It's one of my many quirks that they need to
work on.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
And once again, you can't spell todd without odd.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Ah, take a break. We're back after this.

Speaker 1 (14:45):

behind the stories in the world of sports and pop culture,
stories that well, other shows don't seem to have the
time to discuss.

Speaker 13 (15:21):
And the fact that we've been friends for the last
twenty years and still work together. I mean that says something, right,
So check us out.

Speaker 12 (15:27):

chop it up.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
We have two poll questions, at least for the first hour.
Nick Wright, big Kansas City Chiefs fan and host First
Things First on Fox Sports One. He will join us
coming up next hour and we'll talk to the Dolphins
head coach Mike McDaniel. He'll join us in the final
hour of the program. NFL Cut Day yesterday, No big names,

(16:12):
but we have a new rule here. Whenever a first
round pick doesn't get to his third year in the
NFL and he gets cut, then when he gets cut,
we have to put the GM's name in parentheses like
a failure. I think it's only fair that Coles Strange

(16:33):
he got drafted by the Patriots. I think didn't didn't
Sean McVeigh unless need didn't.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
They laugh at this.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
When the Patriots took Cole's Strange an offensive lineman.

Speaker 9 (16:45):
They took Strange where we had him as like a
sixth round Yeah, they're wow, he still okay.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Shouldn't Belichick's name be in parentheses when they say released
a first round draft pick who didn't make it to
his third ye Yes, Paul, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
Col Strange o lineman out of Chattanooga and he was
taken twenty ninth overall by the Patriots in twenty twenty
two and the grade on him was a third round.

Speaker 8 (17:09):
Draft pick and they took him in the first.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Yeah, you know this on the general manager too, But
what is it that you're missing other than okay? Plays
at Tennessee Chattanooga probably really good against competition that wasn't good.
And it's like if you stand out in the IVY
League and you go, boy, that guy's dominating. Well, it
is the IVY League. But we do have players who

(17:33):
come from really small schools and they make it big
in the NFL. It feels like if you're a power guy,
a big guy, the NFL is full of big guys,
power guys, But when you're quick, great hands, you're fast,
there aren't a lot of those guys in the NFL.
And I think that's the interesting part when you're drafting,

(17:56):
you can look at somebody. And this was told to
me by somebody used to coach at Notre Dame. He
said that when we were looking for players in high
school we wanted we weren't necessarily taking them at their position.
Let's say you were a tackle in high school, we
might look at you as a linebacker in college, like

(18:17):
you weren't going to play that position necessarily, that you
might even be, you know, somebody who's going to be
a defensive back because you might be five ten two
oh five, but in high school you could play defensive line.
But then you know, if you're a good athlete, we're
going to put you at a different position that they're projecting.
This is where you're going to play. But when you're

(18:39):
in college, chances are the position you're playing, you're going
to play that in the NFL. But when you draft
somebody who has a third round grade, at what point
do you look at other people and go, man, they
don't have them very high. Well Belichick likes him, Yeah, okay,
well I don't know, and then you draft him, and

(19:03):
then everybody said the same thing. Huh, So that's on
Belichick And I'm all for these guys who like I
like his surprise, but I don't like a surprise in
the first round. I don't want to be surprised in
the first round, especially at quarterback.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I don't want to go, wait, huh, who are we taking? Oh?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
By the way, Trey Lance made the he's the backup
quarterback with the Chargers, beat out Taylor Heineke and and
dj Uyongalalale and so he's the backup quarterback.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Good for him, Yes, Paul, I went back.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
And looked at the past four NFL drafts just the
first round. Small school guys don't go in the first round.
This guy, Cole Strange might be the only one in
the past four drafts of chat Nuoka. There was a
guy Tyler Smith of Tulsa, but otherwise I looked at
all four first rounds. There was a tackle from Northern Iowa.
But otherwise it's an m Notre Dame Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, LSU, Michigan,

(19:59):
Rinse and repeat, like, there are no small school guys
in the past four NFL drafts before except for the
four names I just gave you.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
But even when Khalil Mack was coming out and he
was in Buffalo, and Whe're going.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
They're gonna take him in the top five.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
And then all of a sudden he came in studio
and I go, uh, if I'm just assessing a guy.
He was short, but he was fast, and I was surprised.
And I mean he had some a couple of great years.
Is he still playing?

Speaker 8 (20:34):
See? Yeah, still in the league?

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Okay? Is he with the Bears.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
Where he went back to?

Speaker 10 (20:42):
Yes, Marvin, if he was playing in this day and time, No,
he would have been a Buffalo very long. He would
have been there one or two years, and then he
would have transferred. He would have been the SEC. Yes, Todd,
I seem listed with the Chargers. Oh okay, Oh that's right. Okay, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I still think that Rashaun later injury to the Chargers
is going to be the death of them with him.
I think they're a playoff team without him. I don't
think they are. And as a result, you know, the
Raiders might be that team that moves up there.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
I like what Pete Carroll does. I mean, Pete's got
a formula there.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
They got Ashton gent who I love, Rock Bowers defense
isn't great and and I like Gino. I think Gino
Smith is a good quarterback and good is going to
work with Pete Carroll. Tough division, but losing Slater, I mean,
and there haven't been a lot of injuries in the preseason,

(21:41):
like big time injuries like that was one that changes
the AFC West in my opinion, because I think he's
that good. And you run the ball and Justin Herbert,
you know, you gotta have your blind set. You got
to have your tackle there all right. Oh some light
light college football news, Paul, Yeah, Dan.

Speaker 7 (22:02):
You're gonna like this one. This is from Army and
West Point Athletics. Army games will now have alcoholic beverage sales.
Yes for the Cadets, no, oh, they'll be serving you
food and drink. But Army football game they've never served
beer or alcoholic their games before this year.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
Beer.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Okay, I don't know what that says about the product
that you're going to put on the field.

Speaker 8 (22:25):
They have been pretty good the past decade.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah, yeah, fun to watch. I love going up there.
I've said this many many times. They put it on
your bucket list. In the fall, West Point. It will
not disappoint, will not. But that's why, Well, we can
slow down now when we go to tailgating because we
don't have to go well, we got we got to
speed up the process here because you got to go

(22:49):
in there and have a soda, although you know people
bring alcohol in. But great environment, great environment there, yeah, Pauling.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
The Army games are such a throwback because of the
campus and the games themselves. But even the offense, they
still have the offense that they ran in the forties,
fifties and sixties. They went away from it a couple
of years ago, but they brought back the option offense.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
When when I went up there and watched them play Stanford,
it was it was it was like my mind, my
eyes were playing tricks on me because Stanford came out,
so Army's on the field. Stanford came out and I
swear they were twice the size. Everybody was twice the
size of everybody on Army, and Army played them pretty

(23:30):
tough for a while there.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
But I just remember watching and going.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
Oh, gosh, don't even get don't get embarrassed at home.
But that's where you see, that's a big time program
and that's Army and there's a reason why those guys
look like that, and that team looks like that.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yeah, Pauline, I went back and looked at that.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Army lost thirty four to twenty, but it was tied
at halftime, and Army ran the ball sixty one times.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
In the Boggain.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Nobody loves Navy at halftime like PAULI doesn't always always
taking Army or Navy by halftime. Yeah, all right, we're
looking for the sound Todd. Okay, do we have this?

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Marvin? Can we play this? Okay?

Speaker 2 (24:15):
So this is May sixteenth, twenty twenty four, and I
thought I was making a bet with Todd about Taylor
Swift and Travis Kelcey, and I said that they're going
to get engaged, and Todd took me up on the bet.
Now we're going to find out if I talked about

(24:36):
if they got engaged or they got married. But this
has to do with Todd getting a wedding cake to
the face with the bet.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I think they're going to get married. I think they
might tell Yeah, I think I.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Think does anybody want the the under that they don't
get married?

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Once again, keep in mind, yes, I like it.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
How serious are you willing to take a wedding cake
to the face that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey don't
get married, Todd.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
I will ask this question, what if they decide to
be partners like Oprah Stedman, does that.

Speaker 6 (25:13):
Count as marriage? No, I need it going down the
aisle and exchanging value.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
I need an engagement.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
I'm going to say they're not going to be hard.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
I'll take the cake to the face. All right, all right,
let's vote here. Because Todd said, hey, it's good content,
then he would take a pie of the face. But
that's not the first time I brought this up on
the show. I think I brought it up another time,
but I I do talk about wedding and then at

(25:42):
the very end saying I need an engagement. Marvin, should
Todd take a wedding cake.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
To the face? Nor Paul?

Speaker 7 (25:52):
Not yet, but he could get it over with now
seatan Definitely.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
I think that you mocked me, and I say, yes, Todd,
what do you think wedding cake to the face?

Speaker 4 (26:05):
I think, based on hearing that we have to wait
and see how it plays out over the next two
and a half years, and then if they get once
they get married, and then I take the wedding cake
to the face.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
But they actually have to walk down the island and
double or nothing? What's the double or effort that if.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
They get married you take two cakes.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
You're already planning on throwing like an entire wedding cake
at me?

Speaker 6 (26:27):
Wait, like two full cakes?

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Yes, we went from like a piece of pie or
a piece.

Speaker 6 (26:30):
Of cake to two full cakes. Um, two and a
half is a long time.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
I'm probably not gonna go double or nothing, But I
think we need to see how this plays out and
see if they actually go through at it and exchange mouth.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yes, see, what if you made Todd have to eat
the whole cake?

Speaker 8 (26:48):
What do you mean making for me?

Speaker 9 (26:51):
You have to eat the entire cake, like throughout the
course of one show. You'll give him three hours he
has to try and eat the entire cake.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Do you want to do that?

Speaker 4 (27:01):
That would have to be after the jacked Off November
f one contest that was supposed to.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Well, that's right, you guys are supposed to make Hey.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
We're supposed to just have like yogurt and cottage.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Has anybody started the jacked off contest?

Speaker 8 (27:17):
Is it officially on?

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Well?

Speaker 2 (27:18):
I thought you guys were getting in shape for Vegas
because beautiful people be there for formula one, and we
were calling it the jack jacked off. Yeah contest, who's
gonna be Who's gonna be the most jacked?

Speaker 6 (27:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Still time, there's still time to get in better shape.

Speaker 10 (27:33):
Yeah, yes, I've kind of I've mean you have. I'm
putting on a facade like you know what. I got
grapes for everybody in the back room, but then I
had Swiss cake roll afterway.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Dang, I'm a little bummed now, you know. It's so
stupid too.

Speaker 9 (27:47):
I have a very vivid memory of being like, you know,
what's September first, I'm really gonna get I'm really gonna
go ahead, and uh, I don't know, it seems unlikely.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
I think you guys have already you and have already
been kind of getting ready for this moment.

Speaker 6 (28:04):
Yeah, who me.

Speaker 3 (28:05):
Yeah you're not drinking. Oh yeah that's true.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
Yeah, you're down like twenty five pounds in a year.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
A solid twenty five Yeah. Yeah, that's nuts.

Speaker 9 (28:14):
Yeah, in almost two years, believe it or not, coming
up on two years, Todd.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
What then there's a little sabotage that goes, hey, fritzyer
Is bagels. Back then, I don't know, they made some
sausage in bacon and we go get like a little
like everyone's concerned all of a sudden that I'm getting
enough calories.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Are you going to participate in the jacked off contest?

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Why wouldn't if I'm part of the show. If that's
what we're doing, I'm not going to starve myself. I
go to the gym a few days a week. I'm
not going to change anything significantly. I'm not going to
start taking CLP shots.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Yes, he's crazy. The dude is completely insane.

Speaker 9 (28:43):
I like how Todd frames it as they're sabotaging him,
as if everybody didn't have the ability to say no
to those bagels.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Sometimes it's a specifically Fritzier.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
Take a look, there is some sausages.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
No, dude, I know how that people only have to
witness meet Friday because it's like your last meal.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
It is the last supper.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Would you like to throw everything all at once on you?

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Do? You do?

Speaker 2 (29:09):
And nobody who is pressuring you? In fact, I always
say Todd, you can come back for more.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
Yeah, I know, but I just rather get it the first.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
So if they run out, or then there's the guys
in the back one to eat too, which I don't
know if that necessarily has to.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
Not care about the guys. What I just said, you
overeat and I say, Todd.

Speaker 4 (29:29):
If there happens to be left after I'm done, then
everyone else gets a shot out of too.

Speaker 6 (29:32):
It's only fair.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Chris and Syracuse, Hi Chris, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (29:36):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Thanks?

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Dan?

Speaker 15 (29:37):
Here a couple questions for you now you point it
out in the open. You love love, and I think
the NFL loves love too, if they can find an
angle to profit by it. And I'm wondering what you
think in the upcoming Kelsey Swift nuptials, what angle the
NFL might take to make a little money on it?
And also, Dan, I was thrilled in the open you say,
do you think my Bikings might do pretty well this year?

(29:59):
I'm wondered to coach Connelly. He's a great offensive mind,
great with quarterbacks. Do you think there's any chance he
could resurrect Carson Wentz's career like he did Sam Darnold.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Well, No, they're all in on JJ McCarthy. The only
way Carson. I mean, they're bringing in Carson Wentz. They
got rid of Sam Howe. Maybe you can do something
that's one of the great mysteries. I mean, when you
think about Carson Wentz, Oh my god, they're going to
draft a guy from North Dakota State, and then he
comes into the league and could have won the MVP.

(30:31):
He finished third that year when he got injured trying
to run in for a touchdown against the Rams. And
then after that, and you know, there were varying reports
about him. And I don't want to speak out of
turn because I don't have information other than stuff that's
been leaked or speculated with Carson Wentz with attitude or

(30:56):
even you know, getting nervous in the pocket. I mean,
there's so many things that people talk about that all
of a sudden he became a different quarterback.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (31:04):
Point his second year in the league, Carson Wentz at
age twenty five, thirty three touchdowns, seven picks, All Pro,
third for the MVP. Then it cooled off with the injury.
Then a couple years later in Indy, he got the
rings in Indy and he had twenty seven touchdowns and
seven picks.

Speaker 8 (31:19):
Now he's a kind of a backup guy.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
David in Cincinnati, Hi David.

Speaker 14 (31:25):
Hey, guys five to eleven, six foot Yeah.

Speaker 16 (31:30):
With the Bengals, you know, they signed Trey Hayes. Whoop, whoop,
good job, whatever things. We still got the same defensive
team as we had last year. I really don't feel
like this is going to make much of improvement. But
in your guy's opinion, do you feel like there's anybody
out there that we could pick up to make it
a better.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
D I don't think so. That's his Did you got
Trey Hendrickson back, but it's not like you added another player.
You didn't make the playoffs last year. Better get out
out of the game early because that loss to the Patriots,
that to me signaled the end that it was going
to be a long season for them. And keep Joe

(32:08):
Burrow healthy. David in Ohio, Hi David, what's on your mind?

Speaker 14 (32:14):
Hey?

Speaker 17 (32:14):
Dan? I know you love love So I.

Speaker 18 (32:17):
Got a Taylor Swift and Travis Telsea bit here. Taylor
Swift just got engaged with Travis Telsey before the Cowboys
could even date another Super Bowl trophy. At this rate,
her next album will be called thirty Years Without a
Ring and it'll still drop before the next Dallas one.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Thank you, Wow, David Eagan shots there all right?

Speaker 6 (32:36):
All right?

Speaker 2 (32:37):
He wrote that down there were a lot of people
speculated on social media will she performed the halftime show.
Taylor Swift doesn't have to do the halftime show. Now,
maybe she would want to, but I think there was
a conflict between Pepsi and Coca Cola and also the NFL.

(32:57):
Now there's varying reports on this. They they want you
to pay them to perform halftime in the Super Bowl.
Like what, and you're Taylor Swift, that'd be where Taylor
Swift goes. You know what I'm gonna do. I'll do
five concerts super Bowl week and then you can have
somebody else be the halftime musical guest there. She doesn't

(33:17):
need to do the halftime show. I mean, there's a
few artists who didn't need to do that. But if
I'm Taylor Swift, be like, oh you want me to
do it, this is what it's going to cost you,
but I can't. I don't see this as oh, well,
she do the halftime show if the Chiefs are in it,
but they usually announce, you know, or you know, she

(33:39):
didn't want to be doing the halftime show if the
Chiefs are in it. She wants to be watching the
game and joining the game. Yes, Marvin not in.

Speaker 10 (33:46):
My head, completely in agreement with you.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Okay, I think she's good on publicity. Isn't that the problem?

Speaker 6 (33:52):
You think?

Speaker 3 (33:53):
So she gets too much publicity. Oh she's gonna be
there at every game. Now, blame the TV networks, not her,
not her.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Yes, ton I've mentioned this before, but it's worth saying again.
I have no problem with them.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
They could show her fifty five times a game if
they want, but show both sides of the emotions. It
doesn't have to be all high fives and smiles. If
Travis Kelsey fumbles or all the Chiefs go down twenty
six to ten, why can't we see a little of
the sourpuss thing too? You know, that's emotions. That's part
of sports, the ups and the downs.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Not just yay another touchdown of the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
So the journalist in you is offended, exactly.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
Okay, I want to see some said, you know Taylor too,
with the happiness.

Speaker 10 (34:34):
Get both, Yes, Marvin, I'm always flabbergasted at people getting
angry when the biggest popstar on Earth is at the stadium. No, no, no,
we're not going to show the biggest popstar on Earth.
That's gonna bring way more viewers and being in TV
long enough, I know this, guys. It's not a football
game US, it's a TV show. We're doing a TV show,
and if the stars are there, we're gonna put the

(34:55):
stars on TV.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Does anybody get upset when they show Robert Kraft on
CBS like ten times during a game or Jerry Jones
ten times?

Speaker 3 (35:04):
I mean get upset at that?

Speaker 14 (35:08):
Like?

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Do I care about seeing Robert Kraft?

Speaker 4 (35:11):
No?

North Carolina, Good morning, Kevin. What's on your mind?

Speaker 16 (37:12):
Hey guys?

Speaker 14 (37:12):
How you doing?

Speaker 19 (37:13):
I also had a stat of the day. I'll do
it in a form of a question. Did you guys
realize that thirty one point two five percent of the
starting quarterbacks week one in the NFL have the same
first initial, and do you know what that initial might be?

Speaker 3 (37:32):
So the is it?

Speaker 15 (37:34):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Jay?

Speaker 1 (37:37):
It is Jay?

Speaker 6 (37:40):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 20 (37:42):
Thank you, Kevin, Justin Herber, Joe Burrow, John Challenge the
day start of today.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
This is the start of the day.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Chiefs Fan there with our stat of the day. Adam
in La Hi, Adam, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (38:03):
The good morning guys? What's up?

Speaker 6 (38:05):
Hey?

Speaker 14 (38:05):
I just wanted to say I totally agree with you
and Marvin which is chatting in about I'd love to
see celebrities at Lakers games sit in courtside when they
show them on TV. I mean, we just like to
see that. So that's ridiculous what people don't want to see.
Taylor Swift. I just want to say, as always man,
longtime caller, graciously many times on the show. But I
really just appreciate you guys. You guys bring a lot

(38:25):
of joy in my morning, whether it's at work, whatever.
I try to catch as much as possible. So again,
keep doing to do DP. We love you have a
good names.

Speaker 2 (38:32):
Thank you, Adam, Thank you appreciate that. I think we
have a graphic the official countdown until I retire. We
have a countdown for the start of the NFL season
next Thursday night. But I think we Mario, who's the
Eyes and Ears of the show, came up with the
graphic of how many months, days, years, seconds, And I

(38:55):
think they're updating it right now. The one time I
wanted to show it, they're updating it right No, yes, Paul.

Speaker 7 (39:00):
And later today we are playing the wedding game closest
to the whole date location.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Okay, date location, Oh there you go. What do we
have eight hundred and ninety eight days? I don't I
just see the numbers up there.

Speaker 7 (39:17):
Yeah, eight hundred ninety eight days, two hours, eight minutes,
six seconds.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
Okay, so it's all done, Tom Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
What if it gets to under eight hundred days, that's
really what it's not feeling, that's.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Good, weird, then it's going to start to sink in.

Speaker 16 (39:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Yeah, the reality Yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:32):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Zach and Knoxville, Hi, Zach, what's on your mind today?
A DP, Thanks for taking my call.

Speaker 19 (39:40):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (39:40):
Just one of the main reasons I love your show.
I don't think any show today is going to have
a Taylor Travis and Oprah Stedman comparison. I get the
context that he's in. But at the Trevor Sikima yesterday
when he was talking about he was given a lot
of stats about when above replacement and this and that.

(40:01):
I think it's pretty easy to break down. It's harder
to replace the bigger guys. So my question to you is,
other than quarterback offense and defense, what is the second
most important position?

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Uh, well, you got to have the edge rusher because
I think he makes everybody better. You know, certainly your
cornerback and your safety feels like you have to have
that one receiver, your left tackle. I don't know how
that grades out. I can only tell you if you

(40:35):
said I can have Aaron Donald, or I can have
Miles Garrett or TJ. Watt or JJ Watt, I'm taking
Aaron Donald. I'm taking Aaron Donald every day just because
offensive coordinators and quarterbacks talk about pressure up the middle.
That makes you have to move one weight or the other.
You have to move side to side. Whereas if you're

(40:58):
in the pocket and I got you know, Bosa coming
off the corner, I can I can step up into
the pocket and he can fly by. But when they
come up the middle, now I'm making you you have
to move and that's what makes Aaron Donald made him
so valuable. Yeah, Paulie.

Speaker 7 (41:14):
According to you Pro Football Focus, the highest paid position
in the NFL is obviously quarterback, second left tackle, third
defensive end, fourth right tackle.

Speaker 3 (41:24):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Coming up next hour, Nick Wright, our good buddy from
Fox Sports and the host of First Things First, Mike McDaniel,
Dolphins head coach, will join us as well. More of
your phone calls will update the poll results as well.
One hour in the book, and apparently Fritzie will not
get a wedding cake after Travis, Kelce and Taylor sit
just on.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Hold for now. They can get married in the next
couple of years.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Okay, Fritzie's here, Seaton, Marv Paula, yours truly. Hour two
