Pacers come back beat the Thunder. They're up one to Oh.
We'll dive into that coming up in a moment. Aaron
(00:25):
Rodgers is going to the Steelers, and our long awaited
nightmares finally over as he has signed with the Steelers,
which I thought he had already agreed to in principle,
maybe a handshake deal, maybe just something verbally and said
I'll be there when you need me to be there.
And that is the start of June. I thought it
would actually happen today. It happened yesterday. We'll talk about that.
(00:47):
The ramifications for the Steelers and they're over under total
in Super Bowl odds? How much did they shift on
the news that Aaron Rodgers was going there? Eight seven

(01:30):
get Maco. All right, Trigger's will be fired up today
as we will be steak freets with burnet sauce, steakhouse
wedge salad, and oysters on the halfshell. Better than we
do we have well fleet and lucky lime oysters. If
(01:55):
you're a big oyster, I'm more of a Kumamoto case
you care a PI guy, Yes, I'm more of a
pah you got.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
It, wealthy cape cod Dan. You're not going to branch out, noah.
Just so you know, there's a bit of a rumbling
in the back room that you're a bit of a oyster.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Snap. Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, No, I freely openly
admit oh yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely yes.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
But you're not. You will eat other oysters.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
I will, but I would prefer my PI Prince Edward Island,
you know, and I do love the kumamoto and the miyagis.
Just in case, you know, a little bit smaller, not
as briny back. I need a horse radish to go
along with my cocktail sauce, just to let you know. Yeah, yeah,
(02:42):
all right. So that's meat Friday here. Well, I have
a poll question, Play of the day, stat of the day,
all of that forthcoming. If you didn't stay up to
watch or listen, this is how it ended last night
in Oklahoma City, Yo.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Does alexanderspins pulls up, jumper off, won't go, rebound, d
spect patience, will a chance to win it? Haliverton looking,
Halliburton driving plus up, jump shot. Let's go with three
tons of a second, vating time out.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Okay, see Tyres Halliburton.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Does it again.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Okay, Oklahoma City is winning this. They should have been
up by thirty. They were blowing out Indiana. Indiana could
not have played worse. And it's one of those situations
where I'm not saying that they didn't that they lost
the game during the first three quarters because they didn't
put Indiana away. They could have won the game in
the first three quarters. If you follow my logic here,
(03:40):
that they would have been up by an insurmountable amount,
whereas with Indiana, if they're down fifteen, okay, business as usual.
I've said this before. Teams that win by a large margin,
I'm always very leery of them when they get into
a one possition game. Now you're winning by thirteen points
(04:03):
per game, and I always go back to the UNLV
running rebels in the early nineties. They're blowing everybody out,
and I wondered, and I said this, I was working
with Bobb Lee on SportsCenter. What happens when they get
into a one possession game? If they do they got
into a one possession game against Duke, they had problems
(04:23):
with the inbounds pass, the play that was set up,
and Duke goes on to win the national title. I'm
not saying Indiana is going to win just because they
won last night. A lot of times we overreact to
game one. I go back to Allen Iverson getting forty
eight against the Lakers in Game one and winning in
LA and everybody was like, oh my goodness, I go no,
no easy here. The seventy six ers aren't good, and
(04:47):
the Lakers ended up winning, dominating, and Okasee is a
better team, like statistically a better team, But what happened.
There's no urgency last night. And give credit to Indiana,
and give credit to Rick Carlile because there has to
be a calming influence in that huddle, has to be
(05:10):
and that's Rick Carlile. Not too high, not too low,
the bench, Wibi Tappen, who played terribly and then had
five three pointers, but it's don't panic, and they didn't panic.
And even on the last possession. Now I'm screaming, waking
up everybody in the house, and I'm going with Halliburton
getting the ball, and I'm like, don't let him go right,
(05:32):
don't make him pass it, make him don't let him
go right now. I'm I picked Indiana to win the series.
I'm just doing this from a basketball perspective of don't
let the best guy beat you. Even though he played horribly,
Tyrese Halliburton has become one of the great clutch shooters
in NBA postseason history. The numbers back that up. They
(05:58):
let him go right. Caruso doesn't double, he falls back
on Pascal Siakam and Haliburton raises up and then seals it.
You let him go right, you don't double him. And look,
Pascal Siakam could have hit the game winning shot as well.
I would have been okay with that. I cannot let
the guy who has done this over and over and
(06:18):
over and over drives me crazy. And it just felt
like everybody was sort of floating up at the other
end of the floor. Here's Haliburton, got the ball and floating, floating, floating,
tick tick tick tick tick tick tick, And I go, oh,
my goodness, he's gonna get a jumper. You don't send
(06:39):
anybody at him, make him pass the ball to somebody else.
Halliburton has four game time or go ahead field goals
in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime.
This postseason brought you by Panini America, the official trading
(07:04):
cards of the program. Here is Halliburton on that game
winning sean this game.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
If you look at all the numbers, it's not the
recipe to win. We can't turn them all over that much.
We got to do a better job of beating gaps,
gotta do a better job of rebounding. You gotta do
a better job all over the floor. But come May
in June, it doesn't matter how you get them, just
get them, you know. So we'll take it. You know,
we'll enjoy this one tonight. But I understand we got
another game coming up in this tough building and we
(07:33):
got to be prepared for that.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yeah, they played horribly, and I guess if you're Rick Carlisle,
you're like, Okay, we can't play this bad can we again? Well,
you can't play this badly again and win again. I'm
gonna guess, but okay, see, you're just kind of floating. Hey,
Shay gild They felt like they were standing around watching
(07:54):
Shay Gilges, like, hey man, he's putting up a lot
of points here. These guys they're committing turnovers. They're not
any good. Then all of a sudden it's like, all right,
chip away, chip away, chip away, chip away. Now, all
of a sudden, that next possession is really important, and
Shay Gill just got the shot that he wanted. He
misses the shot, and then transition defense. I just can't,
(08:20):
for the life of me, can't understand why you let
Tyre's Haliburton have a shot. Yes, Martin.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
Also, the Pacers had so many turnovers. Yeah, and the
thunder didn't take advantage of it. I think they only
got eleven points off of all of those turnovers that
the Pacers had last night.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Once again, they couldn't have played worse, but they won
the game, and they won the game. And okay, see,
in case you're wondering for entertainment purposes, the Pacers are
eleven point underdogs this time around. We talked about this
yesterday and if you're gonna pick the Pacers to win
a game, it was yesterday, it was last night. We
see this, you know, that team struggling, scrape and scrapping,
(09:01):
and then you know, here we are game one. Meanwhile,
you've been waiting for your you know, your opponent to
come into town. And the Pacers came in and granted
they did not play well at all, oka se should
have won that game by double digits. They were favored
by nine and a half. But the Pacers eleven point
underdogs at Okasee. But they've done what they needed to do,
(09:24):
and that is and look, there could be a gentleman sweep.
I mean there's there are probably a lot of people,
smart people, analysts who say, hey, okay, see you can
still you know they can sweep this, they can win
in five and okay, probably can. They have the talent,
have the team. But at least the Pacers said not
so fast. Maybe we only get parting gifts for being
(09:46):
in the NBA finals. We're going to make you work
for this. But that's inexcusable. It really is inexcusable that
you didn't go after them. And you know what their
mo is. I don't know why I'm yelling.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Well, you got to point that you're up what fifteen
points with nine and a half minutes. The bench for
the Pacers are killing you. And Halliburton was out of
his mind the past month, like you said, get it
out of his hands and risk the Pascal Siakam layup.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Someone else would rotate over nem hard like anybody. Miles Turner.
It can't be that guy. It can't. It's like when
Reggie was playing with the Pacers. Reggie is not beating me.
He can't beat me. Mark Jackson, Rick Smith's one of
the Davis brothers. Somebody other than that guy, and there
(10:36):
are a few of those that guys in the NBA,
and Halliburton has become that Yeah, seton It.
Speaker 7 (10:43):
Is funny that you did come in like exasperated today.
I did god, like, dang, dude, I didn't know that
you were like riding that harder. You just don't kut
him go right, the one guy I know, But it's
it's it's just the basketball purist in me.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I'm watching it, and even though I love that Indiana one,
I mean, I want this to be a competitive series.
You know these people who say, oh, there's no star power,
I'm not watching. I don't give a damn. Get the
hell out of here. Okay, the NBA is gonna be fine.
Off my lawn. Yeah, they're gonna be fine. I don't know. Okay,
(11:25):
don't watch, but this is ideal for both the NHL
in the NBA. You got an overtime win by Edmonton,
you had star power, and you had an unbelievable performance
at the end of the game. Wasn't a good game,
but it was a great finish.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
Yes, Marv, I love how angry you got because you
seem like the guy I know, a guy with the
school with and I'm left handed. Obviously, you guys know
that I kept going left. He's left Marvin's left handed. Hello, Hello,
he's left handed. That was you like, guys, he's going right,
You know that, right? You guys know that I got
a force it left.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
And even if he takes the joke like I need,
I have to force him into help, that's all. And
I don't want you going with your strong hand there,
that's all. And I don't want you taking the shot.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
You're so mad?
Speaker 2 (12:13):
I was. I know Fritzy goes. Damn it's Friday, I go.
I it doesn't matter what day it is, so yes.
Speaker 8 (12:23):
Isn't there an argument to be made that, like, if
you're gonna lose to somebody, better make sure that their
best guy beats you. You can want one of these other guys,
even though they have very good players in their team.
You could make the argument that's like, if we're gonna
lose at the final seconds, we're not gonna let one
of their secondary guys beat us, the better be their
best guy that takes us down.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Wait, wait, what do you what are you saying? I'm
saying that you're saying, let Halliburton not let the shan.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Not let him.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
But is it easier to is it easier to swallow
that it's their best guy? We let one of these
other guys beat us, I'd.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
We let five seconds to go. No, so well, your
logic would be, hey, if Michael Jordan beats us, great,
instead of saying, make Steve Kurr John Paxson beat us. Yeah,
we just lost the nemhard.
Speaker 8 (13:09):
I can't believe we let the siakamor.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
No, no no. I could never live with myself if
I said, oh, well, at least it was Jordan who
beat me. It was we didn't, you know what, give
them credit because we didn't let Michael take that shot.
We didn't let Larry Bird take the shot. We didn't
let Kareem take the shot. We didn't let Magic Isaiah.
The great players, I mean, that's why they're great. They
(13:34):
do make plays. But this felt like this could have
been prevented now. Obviously in the first three quarters or
deep into the fourth quarter. But if you look at
the transition, it's it's very okay, all right, And I'm
thinking the games on the line. All he needs is
(13:55):
a two. I get. This can't be a game that
feels like December. I was just shocked, that's all. I
was shocked. Damn.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
All postseason, you've been saying the same thing.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
I know, I.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Just I.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
And you know the Dan Nets sometimes just let me go,
Like they just leave me alone. I'm talking to them,
but they're not. They're like, Okay, I go to let
him get it out, all right, let me take a
break here. I gotta do it twenty.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
I love Oh, good morning, DP, Marv. What I know
last night? Good morning?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah. I walk around a corner. I run into Marvin.
He goes, hey, DP, Marvin, what was that last night?
And he's like, what what? You can't let Haliburton me
meet Friday.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
It's not good for digestion to get on.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
I know, I know, I know, all right, but take
a break back, calm down a little bit. Then we're
going to come up with the pole question. We're gonna
talk about Aaron Rodgers going to the Steelers, and we'll
get phone calls coming on. We're back after this and

Settle on a poll question here play the day coming
up your phone calls as well. Each seven to seven
to three DP show email address Steepddanpatrick dot Com, Twitter
handled at DP show. All right, seton, what are we
going to go with?
Speaker 7 (16:37):
Yeah, we already got two of them up there right now?
Better oysters, East Coast, West Coast, Gulf Coast. Okay, might
as well just throw that one out there right now.
East Coast is leading, followed by Gulf Coast, West Coast
last place. Yeah, West Coast still waking up there. They're
still waking up, right. That must be it. That must
be it, because that is a shocking result. God, admit, yeah, Weather,
they're wrong. They are incorrect. Y are not that? Yeah,
(17:02):
you have the Kumamotos and then you tell me after that.
I mean, come on, unless that's like Kumamotos are so good,
like it's a top heavy, but then the rest are
not great. Maybe Mace Coast is a little more balanced.
I don't know, we have up there too. Pacers will
win the series losing five or losing six or seven. Okay,
(17:22):
right now, fifty percent of the audience have them losing
in six or seven.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
All right, I mean, yeah, I get it. I mean
they're you know, the odds have changed a little bit
here obviously, and they should have lost that game. The
Thunder were minus three hundred to win the title right now.
They were minus six fifty yesterday prior to the game,
(17:46):
So the Pacers at plus two forty five. They were
plus four seventy five yesterday, so a little bit has changed.
But that's one pole question. Well, we have a couple
of them there with the oysters as well, we do. Yeah, okay,
fair enough, that's that first hour.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah, Paul Kumamoto oysters are known for their sweet buttery flavor,
having notes of melon and cucumber finish. Obviously from Japan,
but they're very popular in Humboldt Bay, California, and Oakland, Washington.
They're cultivated there as well.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Back to you, yeah, yeah, can't go wrong. If you
get a chance, they're on the menu, ask for the
Kuma motos. Also, if you can afford see smoke pino noir,
get that as well. You can thank me later. Aaron Rodgers,
in case you hadn't heard, he's going to Pittsburgh, Okay,
I guess he's going to show up next week. And
(18:36):
I think he had something family related. Don't know what
that is. I think that there was an agreement in place.
We spoke about this numerous times you go in for
six hours, you meet with Mike Tomlin. From what I'm told,
there were conversations that were on a semi regular basis
between Aaron and Mike Tomlin, and that this was an
(18:56):
agreement that they had. Whether it was in principle to
a one year deal, maybe it's a I thought it
was going to be one plus one, but from what
I've read so far, it's just a one year deal
with Aaron Rodgers. Don't know, you know, if it's incentive based,
probably will be. But here's the key. I think, Mason Rudolph,
(19:18):
can you know, take you to a nine and eight record?
I need somebody to take you to a playoff win
because it's been a long time since they won a
playoff game. Yeah, they finish over five hundred. That's nice.
I'd like to win a playoff game or two if
I could. Yes.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Pum Russell Wilson last year for the Steelers eleven starts,
twenty five hundred yards, sixteen touchdowns, and five picks.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Not bad.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Those are very solid stats. Aaron Rodgers last year had
about just under four thousand yards, twenty six touchdowns, eleven interceptions.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
He didn't have a bad year. He didn't. It's just
he didn't show up in big games that you can
sometimes have stats where you go. I mean, the numbers
do lie. Here are your Steeler odds to win the
Super Bowl yesterday plus four thousand, and then they signed
(20:14):
Aaron Rodgers. They're Super Bowl bo odds today plus four thousand. Wow.
Push over under prior to signing Aaron Rodgers eight and
a half over under. After signing Aaron Rodgers eight and
(20:37):
a half. I don't know if this is about the
Steelers or about Aaron or maybe a combo. Is he
an upgrade? Yes? How much of an upgrade? And really
this just kind of prolongs your quarterback situation, Like this
(20:57):
doesn't solve it. This is one year. That's why I
thought that they would draft a quarterback. Now, granted, it
has to be the quarterback that you think is right
for your offense, and Will Howard from Ohio State may
turn out to be a starting quarterback. But if I
like Shudor Sanders or Jackson Dart, then I take him
(21:18):
there if I think that helps us down the road,
Like it feels like you're on the clock because you
haven't won a playoff game and how many years what's
it been like eight or nine years that they haven't
won a playoff game? And it feels like this is
a right now move. You're gonna re sign t J.
Watt or you're going to extend his contract. You'll put
(21:40):
him up there with Miles Garrett, Michael Parsons. But how
good are you? Okay, you got DK Metcalf. Okay, he's
great on the deep ball. But so I don't know.
I look at the team and I go, where do
you stand? Are you better than the Bengals? And that's
probably a push, but I would say the Bengals probably
(22:03):
a little better, and the Ravens. You're not as good
as the Ravens? And then you have the Browns. But
where do you stand in the AFC? Are the Steelers
a top ten in the AFC? So that's where I'm
looking at this, going, okay, are we doing this for now?
And then what happens after this year? It just kicks
(22:27):
the can down the road of you didn't really address
the quarterbacking situation bigger picture, and I thought, you know,
you start to look at winners and losers like Kirk
Cousins probably was hoping, hey, we can work out a trade,
I can go to Pittsburgh. That would be great for
a couple of years and my career with the Pittsburgh
(22:48):
Steelers as opposed to be in a backup in Atlanta. Also,
the NFL schedule makers, would they have gone a little
more all in now? The Steelers are universally loved, you know,
fan base all over the world, but would they have
you know, they they manipulated the schedule when Aaron Rodgers
(23:10):
was with the Jets and they're like, I don't know,
six of the first eight games or primetime, like we're
all in on Aaron, but you know, with Pittsburgh, and
then they open up with the Jets. I think that's
a one o'clock game at the Jets. And then I said, golly,
if you're the NFL, can you find out, you know,
what's your gut feeling if Aaron Rodgers is going to play?
(23:32):
Because if he's going to play, does that change that
first week? Do you change it? Does somebody want that
as a four o'clock or you know, primetime game. That
was the only thing I thought of, is does the
NFL known something that Aaron Rodgers? Is he going to
play or is he not going to play?
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah, point, I've been thinking about this a little bit
since you brought it up. I'm curious if Aaron Rodgers
moves the needle TV wise anymore. So yesterday I was
watching after Rodger signed with the Steelers, and objectively, it
seems like a lot of people, now it's social media,
but a lot of football fans really don't like Aaron
Rodgers for a number of reasons. And it's interesting because,
(24:12):
and that's not necessarily my opinion, but what I saw
yesterdays that people were rooting against the Steelers and rooting
for Rogers to fail, or at least the second part
of that. The Steelers are one of the more be
liked teams in all of sports. Generally, people have positive
images of the Steelers, almost like the Saint Louis Cardinals.
And now you hire a quarterback who's polarizing at best
and for a lot of football fans dislikable. It's an
(24:34):
interesting quandary they have there.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, but people watch the Cowboys because they hate them,
so you might watch the Steelers hate watch.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yes, they've never been in that position before.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
People might not have liked Ben Roethlisberger, but for the
most part, Tomlin Cower, you know, the consistency that the
Steelers have always had in that organization. But yeah, I
don't know how many polar rising players there are in
the NFL when you think about it, not many. I
mean people might not like Travis Kelcey because you know,
(25:08):
there's a part of the public that doesn't agree with
him because she, you know, voted for Kamala Harris. So
therefore he got caught in the crossfire there that you're dating.
You know, Taylor Swift. Who else is really polarized? I
mean Tyreek Hill maybe I don't know if anybody cares,
(25:28):
but yeah, you know, Aaron Rodgers definitely polarizing. But I
think people are going to tune in to either see
him win or see him lose. I think you'll definitely.
I don't think you'll be watching the Steelers and you
won't have an opinion. I think that's pretty pretty true
for the NFL fan base. Yeah, Seeton, Yeah, I want to.
I think you're right.
Speaker 7 (25:47):
I think if you're watching the Steelers, you'll probably have
an opinion one way or the other. But I don't
know if you're going to go out of your way
to watch Aaron Rodgers lose you know, I don't know
if people are going to say, like, let me see
what the games are on, Oh, let me go see
how terrible Aaron Rodgers is.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Or hopefully he will be bad.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
I also think if the Steelers aren't very good, then
no one's gonna watch them, regardless of their thoughts on
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
See I will I would watch one way. If he's
really good or very's struggling, will I will still be
interested in that storyline? Here, over eighteen years in Pittsburgh,
Mike Tomlin is eight and eleven in the playoffs. Of
those eight wins, three came in two thousand and eight,
two in twenty ten, one in twenty fifteen, two and
(26:30):
twenty sixteen. So in eighteen years he's either missed the
playoffs or lost in the first round fourteen of those
eighteen stat of the Day, stat of the day, Best
stat of the day, stat of the day. Here comes
that what stat of the day? Stat of the day
(26:52):
brought to you by Panini America Buddha in San Francisco,
Hi Boda, Welcome back, No buddy.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
Every days the Super Bowl Boys, Dan, I have a
Emmy limerick for the show. On this meet Friday. But
first I am in in on the Kumamoto Oysters and
the c smoke Pino no Arden. I mean, they're both
featured here at Herrick a restaurant in Redwood City, and
(27:23):
I hope you guys come visit during Super Bowl Week
next year. Dan, you guys are all invited and we
will welcome you and the DN net and the BRGS
and all the dpnation for that matter.
Speaker 11 (27:36):
But bloop to you.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Dan.
Speaker 10 (27:39):
You called the Aaron Rodgers decision by today, and you
also called the Pacers winning last night, so well done.
And also Dan, quick step, the Pacers came back from
fifteen points in the fourth quarter last night and the
last time that happened in the finals the Mavericks against
the Heat in twenty eleven. And who was the coach
(28:01):
both times.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Rick Carlisle. Yeah, thank you, Thank you, Budha, thank you
for the invitation there super Bowl in San Francisco this
upcoming year, and then Los Angeles and then Atlanta. Uh
Andrew and Washington. Hi Andrew, what's on your mind today? Oh?
Speaker 12 (28:20):
Good morning, Dan, Dannis, thanks for taking my call. Two
quick stats about last night's game, and then a question
for you. But the last time the OKC thunder had
lost at home were to the Pacers over a year ago,
March twelfth, of twenty twenty four. They had not lost
to another Eastern Conference team since then, and also since
nineteen seventy one in the NBA Finals, teams had been
(28:43):
oh for one hundred and eighty two when trailing by
nine or more points in the final three minutes of
a game until last night. Now they're one in one
eighty two. Is this the single best clutch postseason we've
ever seen from a player in NBA history?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Dan might be if you look at the numbers, and
he's done it against a variety of opponents here, But
thank you, Andrew, thank you for the information. Fresh in Milwaukee,
Hi Fresh, welcome back.
Speaker 11 (29:13):
What's up? DP and the danis quick question? If the
Pacers pulled this off with the resume that Siakam is
putting together, will he making it to the Hall of
Fame or the very good Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
I'd have to look at his numbers. I know he's
been an All Star, maybe a couple of times. How
many times Marvin probably say three? Three times he won
a title in Toronto? If he would win another one,
you know he might end up in the Hall of
Very Good. I don't know if you ever geared your
game plan towards him, whether he was your star or
(29:53):
you were going against him. He's I think he's proven
to be a very good player. His block on Shay
Gilder in the final minute, damn. I was like, whoa,
that was so quick, and that's That's one of those
where it's we'll look at the game winning shot, but
there are other things that lead to that that sometimes
(30:14):
you forget about. And that's that block was unbelievable. It's like,
you know, when everybody talks about Michael with the push
off against Russell and hitting the shot against the Jazz,
Mike had to steal the strip on Karl Malone at
the other end. Plus, I love that Indiana did not
take a time out.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Love that.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
You know, this is what you do. You coach. Sometimes
you overcach and you get out coach because you overcach.
If you know what you're doing in a situation and
you practice these things. Five seconds to go, what are
we doing? Seven seconds to go? What are we doing?
Ten seconds to go? What are we doing? Play out
(30:53):
the scenario? Play out the scenario from the end of
the you know, let's say a rebound, let's say an inbounds.
You play these out just so you're aware of what
is five seconds, what is seven seconds? Ten seconds? What
does everybody do? And you saw that last night, and
I think in my my initial thought was, is somebody
(31:16):
calling a timeout? Somebody? No, one's calling a timeout. Don't
let him go right, don't let he don't yep. And
then there's silence in my house because my wife is
upstairs sleeping. She's like, everything, okay, they let him go right.
I'm explaining this to my wife upstairs. They let him
(31:39):
go right? And how never, I'll tell you, God, did
you play along with you?
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Why did they do that? She had no idea what
I was talking about. To enjoy the and go right?
What does that mean? Never mind? I saw her this
morning and she goes, what happened last night? I said, okay,
just something happened that I it shouldn't have happened in
the game. But didn't you want Indiana to win?
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (32:14):
But wait but they won?
Speaker 11 (32:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Never mind. He's getting frustrated. I wanted to bring out,
you know, the whiteboard, and I was going to diagram
the play for her.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
Yes, what if you walked in the kitchen, you're going
to get some more shoes and she just jumped on
your right hand started guarding. Yeah, I heard you say,
don't let him go right, don't let him go right.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Just takes another I'm gonna make it, make you go left,
make you go left. There, Angela in Oklahoma, Hi, Angela.
Speaker 13 (32:41):
Good morning Dan, Dannis five three pounds. I'm so frustrated
about the thunder. I knew that we would have a
problem with Haliburton, but you know, at first I was
very hopeful and then they just sorry. That's really all
(33:08):
I can say is I'm so frustrated.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
All right, well you still have six more games, angel
Things that make you go We'll take a break. Our
Play of the day is up next.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP.
Speaker 10 (33:35):
Oh my God.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
The play of the day.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Letter What's like?
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Got it? This is the play of the day.
Speaker 14 (33:45):
Check this out.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Rebound Indiana eight seconds to go.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
The Pacers are not going to call the time out.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Paddleburton has it with three driving with two pulling.
Speaker 9 (33:55):
Up aead heading with three tenths of a second to go.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
How many more times can this team do that?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
A's courtesy of the Pacers Radio Network. Pacers have five
playoff wins when trailing by at least fifteen points. This
postseason play of the day brought to you by Tyrol
Tyrol Pickleball Shoes. They made these shoes just to play pickleball,
and they're the best shoes that you can buy. They
will outlast those tennis shoes. There's more comfort, more grip,
(34:29):
more game. Tyrol t yrol remember the name. Play Longer,
move quicker, and at least look like a pro at
Tyrol pickleball dot Com. Oh, I forgot to mention this.
We had Derrick Henry on Wednesday, I believe, and I
told him if he ran for two thousand yards this
year that I'd get him in an Adam Sandler movie.
(34:51):
He told me he was a big Adam Sandler fan,
and I thought, all right, two thousand yards. I didn't
run at my Sandler, but I thought, you know, he'll
be a okay with this two thousand yards. And so
I then I text Sandler and I said, hey, would
you do a video for Derrick Henry and you know
(35:12):
that you agree that if he rushes for two thousand yards,
you'll put him in a in a movie. We're going
to play that for you. Next hour, Sandler got back
to me, recorded a video for Derrick Henry, and then
we sent it to the Ravens. And then the Ravens
are getting Derrick Henry's reaction to Adam Sandler offering up
a movie part if he rushes for two thousand yards
(35:34):
and typical Sandler fashion, uh, you know, being the Sandman.
And I still don't know the movie date for Happy
Go More too. I should ask Sandler this. I thought
it was like July twenty fourth. I don't know if
you've seen anything online.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Paul, I have a Netflix is saying July twenty fifth.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Oh the fifth, twenty fifth, Okay, well maybe there's a
premiere checking I did ask saidlor that neat. I said,
are you going to have a premiere and he said yes,
but I don't know if that's in New York or
LA but maybe it's both. But there's a lot of people,
big name people in this movie. It'd be it'd be
(36:14):
pretty cool to go to the premiere. The twenty fifth
is a Friday Friday, I believe yes, Is that right, Todd?
That is correct? Okay, thank you? All right, Time to
play the Aaron Rodgers jersey game. I don't think the
Steelers are going to give him number twelve. I don't
think Terry Bradshaw is going to allow that. Yes, Paul,
Well let's start this. The question is what number will
(36:37):
Aaron Rodgers were with the Steelers? He wore eight last year.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
With the Jets. Who thinks that Terry Bradshaw's number twelve
is retired by the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
I don't think it's retired. It's not. No, no, Well,
there was some macrimony between those two.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
That seems lightly shocking though.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Well, how many jerseys have they retired? That's a good question. Yes,
I'd like to answer that question. Do you have the
US I do. Oh, I'll say four jerseys have been retied.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
I'm going to give you a half a blue three
all time. Ernie Stoutner, that old timer, yeah, nineteen sixty four.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Me and Joe Green not his actual name, retired in
twenty fourteen.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Middle name's not Joe Green.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Frank o'harris retired in December of twenty twenty two. Conciding
with the fiftieth anniversary of the Immaculate Reception, thirty two
seventy seventy five only numbers retire. However, no Steeler has
worn twelve since Bradshaw retired. It's it's unofficially retired. It's
not distributed.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
I think it Rodgers will go eight. Yeah, and you know,
maybe he'd gets something that's cosmic, isn't that infinity like
eight is right ton? Is that it's a if you.
Speaker 8 (37:51):
Flipping over on its side that like that Prince whatever
infinity logo.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, you know, maybe there's some constellation that's affected by
this or who knows with Aaron.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Yes, supposedly he wore eight with the Jets because he
wore eight in college.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Okay, supposedly. Yeah. Maybe I don't think he'll wear twelve.
I don't think they'll give twelve to it.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
Yes, yes, if he did want to wear twelve, what's
the relationship Like, would he ask permissioner or he would
just do it and say, well, screw tier Bradshaw, I'm
wearing twelve.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
It's not officially retired.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Well, no, Bradshaw already came out and basically was ripping
the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers over this whole that was
like last week. I don't know if Aaron's going to
reach it. Well, Terry's not going to have control of
his jersey number. Yes, by the.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
Way, Illo on the Steelers roster right now, and punter
Corlis Waltman his number eight.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
His days are number for now. Yeah, his days are number.
Do you see what idea of that? Todd days are numbers?
Speaker 3 (38:47):
How much do you sell it for it? Do you
play that game with Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Okay, for four million dollars you're gonna have. David in Ohio, Hi, David, Hey, Dan,
Happy need Friday nobody.
Speaker 14 (39:00):
I'm a Steelers fan and I had one to pose
a pot of the face vet to the room. He said,
the over underwin total for Steelers is eight and a half.
I'm willing to bet on one side that Pat, that
Aaron Rodgers will have more Pat McAfee show appearances over
eight and a half. And I was wondering if the
other side would like to take the Steelers under eight
(39:21):
and a half wins for the season.
Speaker 11 (39:23):
Rogers under center.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
All right. I felt bad for McAfee. I mean, not
that he needs publicity, but I thought this was a
Aaron is going to tell Pat, Hey, I'm coming back
and do it on a show. Did Chefty break this? Then?
I don't know who broke it? But yeah, I don't
get caught up in those very often because a lot
(39:46):
of time, you know, it's a PR release, it's an
agent telling you know somebody, an insider. Yes, yes, once,
that's just our friend.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
Jerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Post At okay, all right, I'm looking at some all
four Jerry getting a little little credit there. Pittsburgh Post Gazette.
All right, thank you, David. I don't I'm gonna go
over with the wins. I mean, it feels like they're
guaranteed nine wins. Every I want to know is somebody
willing to do a pie of the face that they
(40:17):
win a playoff game. That's what would matter to me.
If I'm a Steeler fan, Hey, you got nine wins.
Did we win a playoff game? No? But you got
nine wins? Another winning season, yes, Paul.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Imagine being a Browns fan, I mean always, but specifically
now three and fourteen. You lose your last six. The
Bengals are probably better. They won their last five. The
Steelers may have gotten better, and the Ravens are always
twelve plus wins. It feels insurmountable.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Yeah, but the Browns have shodoor Sanders.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
I think the Browns are going to win fewer games
next year than three.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
Really.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Yeah, that division's a bear, and I don't think their
team is improved.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
You can kind of accitd win a couple. Yeah, sometimes
you're facing a team that just has a bad day
or they don't care.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
I would bet now that the Browns had the number
one pick of the draft, maybe not necessarily two wins.
I'll go to, uh, what's what pie is indigenous to Cleveland?
I have no idea. I'll go pie to the face.
Brown's number one pick. They earn it, not trade, they
earn it.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
They earn it.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Hmm, well, dude, that's not the gutsy it's bet by
the way. I mean, the other contenders would be the Saints.
Raiders had four wins, Titans had three wins, Jacksonville had
four wins.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
You know, I say Cleveland might be on the clock.
Might be on the clock. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback,
he'll have some information on the Aaron Rodgers signing, more
on the Pacers surprising Okac as well. Hour two on
the way
