Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio Our two on this Friday. And yes, it
is a meet Friday, even though we got up early.
And as Seaton says, you don't have to wait till
lunch to have meat Friday. We have brisket, We have barbecue, chicken, potato, salad.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Baked beans. Who who has it better than we do?
No body? Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, our
streaming partner and NBC, they set us up right by
the driving range here Lake Tahoe. As the event gets underway,
we'll talk to Alex Caruso, Oklahoma City thunder Guard, the
great comedian Nate Borgetzi will join us, and Rob mclelhaney.
(00:40):
He is always Sonny in Philadelphia and co owner of Wrexham.
So that'll be coming up eight seven seven three DP show.
Get a couple of phone calls in. We did talk
to Charles Barkley. If you miss any interviews, you can
always go to Danpatrick dot com. Charles always entertaining when
he tells stories. You know he was there in the
locker room when Bird comes in with that three point
(01:01):
shooting contest, when he says, hey, which one of you
bleep bleep bleeps are playing for second place, and Charles
was in there trying to hype up one of his teammates,
Leon Wood, and he said, there was silence when Bird
walks in. First thing, he says, he opens the locker
room door, which one of you bleeps is playing for
second place, and Charles goes it was quiet. Nobody said
(01:25):
anything back to him, and then Bird of course went
out and won that contest. Seton what's the poll question
for hour two. By the way, we did spend a
little bit of time talking about we took a victory lap,
and rightfully so. We dominated on celebrity family feud last
night as we crushed the Rich Eyesen Show as you
would come to expect that Marvin and Fritzy were great.
(01:45):
Fritzy is in London on vacation where we tracked him
down and I think he's going to join us a
little bit later on, and he was great. He was
a lot of fun. He did a impersonation of Steve
Harvey that Steve Harvey even ign Coledge that he was
going to give that to Todd as all Fritzy needed.
Uh and Marv. Marv was great as well, but uh,
(02:07):
congratulations to all the dan Ads and all of dan
Nation for this seat. And you did a good John too.
I did do a good job. I crushed. Yeah, I know,
I know I did. Maybe I sound like I expected
you to be good. Maybe I'm surprised that Marvin and
Fritzie were good. Maybe that's how this is coming off.
(02:28):
And I don't mean it that way. You guys are
you know you you held your own up there and
you made yourself proud. Yes, Martin, So was this like,
hey Michael Jordan, you want MVP award? Duh? Hey Tom Chambers,
you finished the second great. I don't know if it
was that so scenes not the Michael Jordan's No, I
(02:49):
would say that maybe Fritzy was the Michael Jordan of
our team.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yes, I will say though, because there's four rounds. If
we lose the fourth round, even though we won the
previous two, all the points go his team Rich Eisensteen
when we lose, and seating the category was what gets
more value.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
As it goes.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
He got wine when he was up there, so we
got the category. And then there was only two more
answers left and he was up next, and he got
art and that was it and that puts us in
the final round, but.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Technically won the game for us. Technically I won the
whole thing. But that's okay, don't want that, Paulie. You
were there too when I was there, Okay, just mop
it up.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Yes, Marvin, Does Fritzie get the nod because he did
Fast Money?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah? Okay, yeah, and you know, and you know it's stressful, yes,
but Fritzie loves game shows and you know, so I
was trying to tap into his whole on stage, and
he was ready to go, and he was fired up.
He was, but they take him backstage. So when I
give my answers for Fast Money at the very end, uh,
(03:53):
they take him backstage. So obviously he doesn't hear the questions,
but he comes out and he's ready to go. He
was fired up.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Daniel and Tennessee, Hey Daniel, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 6 (04:05):
Hey Dan, A long time listener. H five nine. I
just want to talk about family feud. You know, I
think I think, uh Fritzy really stole the show there
in Fast Money. I think you know what, did he get?
Four out of the five questions were number one?
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Didn't even need the fifth one? He didn't even need
that for the two hundred points, Yeah, you need strawberries.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
And I think really Satan coming in clutch in that
final round really goes underappreciated.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You know.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
I know you guys were harping on him a little bit,
but I think that really goes underappreciated. And I did
have a question after after every answer that Fritzy gave,
you gave him a little look, almost a very stern look.
Was that intentional just for the show or is that
just you being you to Fritz?
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Thanks. I don't I don't know. I don't remember what
my body language was with Fritzy because he gave good answers,
I think so. I don't think I would have been like,
how you know, that's stupid to say that.
Speaker 5 (05:04):
Yes, Mark, none of us gave like stupid answers where
Steve Harvey was just gonna tear us apart. Yeah, everyone,
even the wrong answers, like even Paully had the convertible.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Though I did a vintage automobiles. He goes, ooh, good answer,
and it was wrong. I got it wrong, and I
was like I was shocked, and he was I didn't
feel bad, like it wasn't up there but.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
It felt like a good answer.
Speaker 7 (05:26):
Yeah, see, yeah it was. That wasn't a bad answer.
There were a few that I was surprised, like the
example that you just gave him, Like, dang that that's
not up there. Really Yeah, because cars, I would think,
I mean, you would know better, but like they tend
to get hiring value.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Yeah, certain ones, you know, high end ones. I uh
but yeah, we uh we took home the victory. And uh,
thank you for all the the outpouring of support that
we got from last night's celebrity family feud. Oklahoma City
thunder Guard Alex Caruso won a title with the Lakers,
and of course one one went okay. She stopped by
(06:01):
yesterday to be a show and I asked him if
he ever walks him around casually with his headband on now, And.
Speaker 8 (06:08):
A couple of people yesterday were disappointed I didn't wear
it, and I told him that's just an end season thing.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
It's almost like they need that to recognize you. You'd
be surprised.
Speaker 8 (06:16):
There's a couple of times I'll go out and like
I'll walk through public and I'll do stuff and like
people have to like, you know, hit the double take
real quick. And I didn't recognize you at the headband, Like, yeah, well,
I'll just live with a headband on.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
I can't. I can't go to AGV with a head band.
You know, how has life changed? You've won a title before,
but winning a title in La in the bubble, but
winning a title in ok See the difference in reaction
of fans.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Yeah, I think honestly, the reaction of fans was was
pretty similar. The Somebody asked me this question the other
day and I tried to explain, you know, because that's
the thing. Everyone always tries to like pit the two
against each other. For me, they try to like say
which one was harder, which one was better? Like you
enjoyed more? And I was like, first of all, the championship,
like it's the peak, so like they're both the best,
(07:04):
but it was like a different set of circumstances and
challenges with each one.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
And the only thing that I I am.
Speaker 8 (07:11):
Maybe not regret, but like I wish we could have
experienced with the parade in LA because the parade, the
parade and OKC was was unbelievable. The city, the fans,
all that stuff, like how many people were out there
at every single stop, I know, I know La would
have been like that. You know, maybe even you know,
a tiny bit more just because La.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Is a little crazy. You're a little more experienced than
most of the guys on your ronster, So I don't know,
you're you're like the guy who the kids hang out
the liquor store in the grown up beer. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
You got guys who didn't know how to open champagne.
Speaker 9 (07:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (07:45):
No, that was a bad it was a bad first experience.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
We did have a joke.
Speaker 8 (07:49):
We're like, all right, that's fine, we just have to
go win it again, so it will be better around
two player b you know, something like that.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
If if somebody didn't want you guys to play, how
would you say? How would you describe Oklahoma City.
Speaker 8 (07:59):
Stof Oklahoma City style is aggressive, fast paced, unselfish, sacrificial,
Like we do all the things that great teams do.
You know, all those things that the winning team to
winning teams do.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
And you got to buy into defense. Yeah, you gotta go.
You gotta guard to win championships. But that's hard to convince.
Everybody wants to be a star. Everybody wants their touches
get paid. Yes, and guys don't necessarily get paid playing
good defense. Well, I mean you can, you can.
Speaker 8 (08:36):
Yeah, the tip of the cat to you, but you
had to make a conscious decision.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, the team, this is what I do. This is
who we can be if we want to be this
and you're trying to convince kids, yeah, to do that.
Speaker 8 (08:53):
Yeah, I mean that the credit for that goes to
Mark and sam an organization because that's been like, that's
been a focal point for us, at least for the year.
You know, from the moment I stepped in the door
this last year was you know, if we want to
achieve greatness and get to the end, we have to
do it together. And it has to be playing for
each other and playing defense like that has to be
(09:14):
what it is. And from that, you know, I think
I think there's enough examples throughout the history of basketball
and throughout the league. If you win, everybody gets paid,
Like even that team in twenty twenty that won the
chip with us for the Lakers, like a couple guys
didn't get brought back, but.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Like they they got paid otherways.
Speaker 8 (09:32):
Like Rondo is a Rondo was like almost out the door,
you know, for three four years in the league and
then comes and plays great for US, signs like a
three year, thirty million dollar deal in the end of
his end of his career, CACP got paid again. Danny
Green found a couple more contracts after that. Javail found
like everybody on a championship team gets an opportunity and
(09:52):
gets paid. And I think just convincing the team that
that was how it was going to be was it
was unique too, just to be able to, like you said,
with such young guys that all have big aspirations and
big you know, goals and ambitions for the league really impressive.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
You know, obviously he's Alex Caruso, the champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
So explain to me Oklahoma City Blues, South Bay Lakers,
and then I get what point do you go it's
clicking or they're recognizing that it's clicking that now you're
going to play in the NBA. Yeah. I think I
(10:30):
tell people this a lot.
Speaker 8 (10:31):
There was a time at the end of my first
year on two way with the Lakers where I, you know,
it's one of those things where we're not gonna make
the playoffs. They're playing all the young guys two way guys,
and I have I have a couple of really good games,
like I have maybe one or two double doubles starting
point guard, Like I'm getting double digit points, six seven,
eight assists, guarding well. And I'm like, oh, this is it,
(10:51):
Like I'm I'm an NBA player, Like this is where
I'm supposed to be. And in my mind, not knowing
the business of basketball, I was like, all right, they're
going to convert this two way contract to a standard contract.
I'm not gonna be on two way next year. That's
not how it works. You know, it's cheap lavery. If
you got some under contract, you keep keep it there.
You know, you don't spend more money than you have to.
So then that next year, same thing went through. The
(11:14):
year played at the end of the year on two way,
had to talk with my agent.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Afterwards.
Speaker 8 (11:18):
I was like, I'm playing good, like I'm surely like
I'm not gonna too. He's like, no, you're good, like
You're gonna get a standard NBA contract. And I asked
and was like, might have to play summer League again?
And he said, oh no, he said, We're we're good
on that. So from that point on, I was like,
all right, we'll we got a spot in the league.
Now it's time to like keep progressing.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
What's it like to guard Shay Gildjus Alexander difficult, very difficult.
Thankfully I didn't have to do this year. Anybody compare
to him, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (11:44):
You know, he's He's a pretty unique guy.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
I think.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
I think some of some of how James Harden was
his MVP years. You know, obviously he's not shooting threes
like James, and I think a lot of that helped
him kind of get downhill, but like his ability to
just get by people and and then the lengths he
has to finish and shoot in the mid range a
little bit like James and his.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
In his MVP years.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
But but I mean even then, he like he works
off the body like Kyrie really well too, Like he
has a little bit of like mid range Kyrie package
and then finishing left right. That that reminds me a
lot of those two guys.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And those guys invite contact have to like Luca, like
I'm gonna use the contact to my advantage. Yea. And
people don't realize how big these guys like Thick. These
guys are athletes, Yeah, yeah, pro athletes who would who
kept you up at night, Like if you go, I mean,
but is there one or two where you go, God,
(12:39):
there's gonna be a long night.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
Shay was like that. Shay was one of those it's
it's it's usually the high volume guys, you know, like
the the Lucas, the the Shay's, the Devin Bookers, steph.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
But you know they're going to score. But how does
that not affect you where you get a little down?
Speaker 8 (12:58):
Yeah, No, you have to have amnesia a little bit.
Like you have to know is the best you're gonna
guard the best player, Like they're gonna get their average
if you do their job, if you do your job
correctly through the night, they're gonna get one or two
points below their average to their average, and if you don't,
they'll have forty or fifty or sixty and then you're
on Sports Center every highlight for the rest of the year.
So it's honestly for me, it was like it's a
(13:19):
lot of pride and it's a lot of almost like
not anxiety, but like there's no safety net. You know,
like you have to be you have to be sharp,
you have to be on your game or else you're
gonna get embarrassed and getting embarrassed is in fun in
front of eighteen thousand people.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Okay, Steph is bringing the ball up.
Speaker 8 (13:37):
When you've already guarding him, I'm not Yeah, I'm not
waiting for him. You can't wait if you go to
get yeah, because if you wait for him, now he's
coming with pace. He's gonna throw it to Draymond and
run and you're.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Late, but you've got to run with him. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
Right, He's constant. That's that's the biggest thing that people
talk about. I don't know if regular NBA fans understand.
It's like skyting reporting him is he's most dangerous when
gives the ball up because even when he comes down,
he gives the ball up, like now, all of a sudden,
they're going to movement. Him and Draymond are so connected,
like he he knows exactly where to go.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
How to make the reads.
Speaker 8 (14:12):
And as a defender, I always think that people set
illegal screens.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
They got away with they they get away with the couple.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Draymond's been known to do that.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
Yeah, that's that's the NBA heart on our team. Hartenstein
says some pretty good ones too.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
But how's guarding Lebron. Yeah, that's different.
Speaker 8 (14:29):
Too, because he just tries to post me up because
he's six', eight two hundred and sixty pounds and that's
like seventy pounds lighter than or heavier THAN i. Am
he's ALSO i didn't get to guard him when he was,
like you, know freak lebron like he's he's obviously like
he's on your twenty. Something now he is a more refined.
Game still still can like go up and play above the.
(14:50):
Rim But i've noticed that with, me he he goes
to the post game right. Away, yeah because he's he's
not moving loutterally quick enough and downhill quick enough for
HOW i like to guard Because i'm gonna climb up
into the ball a little. Bit but once he gets
to the, post it's a.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Challenge anybody you meet here In tahoe that you were

Speaker 2 (15:30):

Speaker 8 (15:34):

of rings in a check huh. Yeah and then he
was talking, about, hey, everybody when everybody, wins everybody gets,

a union job or. Something it's something that you're trying
to go out and. Get you just got to be
around and like wait and then everybody tell you know

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Tell you know as long as they.
Speaker 2 (19:49):

audience better or your audience understanding you.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
BETTER i think they got.
Speaker 9 (19:57):
Me i've always been clean and so that that was
the big thing is WHEN i came, up it was Like,
uh the edgy was not and any good reason, whatever
like if that was like kind of in the two,
THOUSANDS i was like kind of going AND I and
the one Thing i'm realizing now is because there was
TIMES i, thought well what IF i change or IF
(20:18):
i go down these other paths or, whatever and, UH
i just kind of stayed doing WHAT i. Did and,
uh and then it has now just kind of come.
Back and then Now i'm more comfortable BECAUSE i just,
know Like i've just worked on this act now for you,
know over twenty.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Years but you include your wife and daughter a. Lot,
yeah but then when kids get to a certain, age
then you have to back off bringing them into the.
Speaker 9 (20:44):
Act your, DAUGHTER i haven't really talked about her since
she was like five or.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
SIX i, mean there would be this new.
Speaker 9 (20:50):
HOUR i got some stuff with, her but it's ALL
i kind of broad, Like, UH i didn't want to
uh you, KNOW I i she goes to. School it's
like you just LIKE i don't want to bring up.
SOMETHING i have a story THAT i want to tell
about her That i'm. Waiting i'm waiting BECAUSE i need.
TO i just want to get a little bit older to.
Explain it's a funny. Story but it's, LIKE i just
(21:12):
want her to understand Why i'm telling.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
You so you're, workshopping.
Speaker 9 (21:16):
Man, YEAH i haven't even really done it. Much it's
like the idea of, it IT'S i have as it's
A i think it's a story That i'll be able
to in the next.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Hour due my daughter just turned.
Speaker 9 (21:27):
Thirteen uh SO i think in not this, hour but
in like three or four, years Like i'll be a you,
know have a conversation with, her tell her about, it
and then tell this. Story so it's a PLANNED i
hope it works.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Out but that's a big build up. Here it's a
big build.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Up he, goes, guys don't worry about. It when it's
all said and. Done now you're, here one last.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Joke it's gonna be. Great. Yeah social media podcasts appearing on,
Podcasts how does? That how's that changed the exposure that you,
get acceptance maybe that you get it's.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
You're you're kind of. Everywhere the.
Speaker 9 (22:06):
PROBLEM i feel bad for the young comedians because when
we came, up like you, know YouTube was like not a,
thing and then it was a thing and it kind
of started, happening and so now it's like a lot
of these comedy clubs there is something they want to
book comedians on how many followers they have and like
and to get a lot of followers on social. Media
it's like you got to create a lot of. Stuff
(22:27):
you got to do stuff.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Every, day and it's exalt and it's not.
Speaker 9 (22:31):
Sustainable like that's why stand up is great because you
build an act and you go do it FOR i
tape a.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Special like basically every two.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
Years and so you go on the road and you
work it for two years and you perfect it and
you get it into like a good. Spot and so
young comedians is it's they're in the tricky spot because
it's like they have to you, know some of them
got to get the. Followers BUT i just don't think
that is going to pay off in.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
The longer because you just can't keep it.
Speaker 9 (22:56):
Up you got to do it every you, know if
you got funny VIDE i mean we see people have
those videos that they're making every.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Day they're. Funny it's all.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
Day that's a full day shoot and they have to
do it every.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Day like it's.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Impossible you don't want to be, influence you don't.
Speaker 9 (23:13):
Know it's it's it's it's a you, know it's. Hard
you do you sitcoms are. Hard you have a whole
writing room that does twenty two episodes or something of the, year.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
But that that doesn't intrigue you doing a.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Sitcom it, no it. DID i tried for ten.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
YEARS i.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
SOLD i.
Speaker 9 (23:30):
Tried you, know that was kind of the WHEN i came,
UP i, thought you, know that WAS i was. CLEAN
i kind of was, like all, RIGHT i can go
to the you, Know Ray romano, route like hopefully get
a chance to go do. It AND i try to
sell shows for ten. Years, uh and just you, know
never made it. Anywhere we shot one pilot and then
now you just kind of get to a point where
(23:52):
you're you, KNOW i just wrapped on a, movie and
so you're just, like, well Now i'm just kind of
got my own little. World and then you're just, like,
WELL i don't really you, KNOW i don't really want
to do A tv show. Now it takes up so
much of your time when you go do, it and
you just kind of got past.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
It he loves His vanderbilt Sports NATE. BARGOETSI i like
how you say that you mispronounced your last. Name but you,
know when it's a lot of people Say, bargatzi but It's.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Barghetzi if it Was, bargatzi it'd be a lot. Easier
people would have already got.
Speaker 9 (24:24):
It we throw them through a loop when we got
to Know barghetzi and they're like like an e and,
yeah and they, said it doesn't make, sense BUT i
bet It's.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
Bargatzi BUT, i you, KNOW i entered by.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Whatever do you ever ask your?
Speaker 9 (24:38):
Dad, yeah he Says barghatzi. Too we're all our. Accent
my dad has a speech, impediment so that doesn't. Help
and so it's like he's we're already we've muddied the
waters quite a. Bit you know.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
How addicting is, laughter it's the Most but IF i,
said you could have cheers on the golf, course, yeah
or laughs when you're doing your, stuff, laughs laughs all.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Day, yeah that's it's the WHAT i tend to.
Speaker 9 (25:06):
Do like when you do a, show especially now like
where in these you're being a big, arena, right there's
so many. People it's hard to do a show in
your mind mentally for all these. People SO i always
like try to PICK i just find someone AND i
almost like this person doesn't realize, it but there could
be ten thousand people there And i'm doing the show
for that. Person and, like cause if they're if they're good,
(25:28):
Laughers i'll see their shoulders.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Shake it's LIKE.
Speaker 9 (25:31):
I just always kind of keep an eye on. Them
and then, LIKE i, MEAN i.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Would, like you, know you're getting a. Ringer you're looking
for that Ringer.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
I'm not looking.
Speaker 9 (25:40):
For, YEAH i, mean, look you can always find the
one that's miserable, Too.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Okay BUT i want you to listen to this. Laugh
how would this laugh work in your stand up?
Speaker 9 (25:49):
Back, yeah oh, Scenings, yeah, uh you would hear. It
it would it would be it would be like you
would try not to have, TO i, said but then
you might.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Have, to uh like you okay over?
Speaker 9 (26:04):
There, Yeah like and he don't want to drink is
it's awkward because then you're.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Laughing then you're uncomfortable with.
Speaker 9 (26:09):
LAUGHING i had a girl once WHEN i did a
show her laugh WHEN i first, started she would, go,
ah like a straight just scream and, uh you have
to address it because everybody hears.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
It and then her dad was, like well that's how she,
laughs and we're, like well she shouldn't, be. Sir she
you should have fixed.
Speaker 9 (26:30):
That at like, five when she was, Five just go, like,
hey break it up a little.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Bit you, KNOW i had a friend who dated a.
GIRL i think you met your wife At. APPLEBEE'S i, did,
okay he was dating the. Hostess he was in minor league,
baseball dating the hostess At applebee's and said she was
beautiful except for she had bad. Teeth so he would
take her out and purposely talk about like A shindler's,
list like serious, hospitals so she wouldn't, smile.
Speaker 9 (26:58):
But he he AND i love the idea of him
having to get a conversation about a hospital going is
THAT i have you seen the new hospital at the
wing at the hospital they.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Got, yeah, yeah, yeah but you don't want her to.
Laugh you did bring up SOMETHING i. THINK i don't
know IF i have the quote. Right you either make
it in your twenties or your, forties but you don't
make it in your. Thirties yeah that, Soundcorrect.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah that's WHAT i.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Feel why is?
Speaker 9 (27:21):
IT i think you either get snatched up quick and
you kind of get on a good train or you
or you kind of have to grind it out and so,
OBVIOUSLY i MEAN i made it in my. FORTIES i,
Mean i'm much happier THAT i made my forties THAN
i would have been my twenty.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Twenties you just don't have enough.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
Experience would you have handled this in your?
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Twenties you, know you like to. Think, So, LOOK i
tried to make it in my.
Speaker 9 (27:45):
Twenties i'm not if anybody's out, there definitely try to
make it in your. Twenties but if you, don't it's
like THEN i think it's the matter of like who's
going to, stay who has a stamina to? Stay i'm
sure you. Know in this same, thing it's like a
matter of who can?
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Hang who can? Hang the long?
Speaker 9 (28:02):
Life, yeah it's people cannot. Hang they get, it gets
like well where's this? Going and what you, Know i'm
not really wanting to do. It and then they fell
on it and you're, like well then it's.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Over you have This Saturday Night live skit where you
killed the, bird, yes and then you hit the next
shot your mulley knocked down the. Nest who came up
with that? Idea that's Not that's not how you play,
golf is? It?
Speaker 4 (28:26):
No? No, no, no it WAS i mean you, know
it could be.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
What's your handicap uh at?
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Nine, okay and so it's enough it gets. AROUND i
still hit a, bird you, know, yeah.
Speaker 9 (28:38):
Uh but it's. There it's a streeter side. Down Mikey
Day uh wrote. It who wrote The George washington? Sketch
and they came up back and it Was it ended
up being great because it's, like you, know when someone
does a golf, sketch you're, like in my, Hand i'm, like,
MAN i don't know if anybody's going to, like you, know.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Does everybody get? Golf like is every you, know the average.
Speaker 9 (28:55):
Person but when we shot it and he saw, IT
i was, like it's one of my favorite one ones
that they've.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Done just the reaction when you go up to hit
your mulligan and you're looking around as as there's any
birds flying. Around but then you get The George washington.
Skit now do you wonder at the time when you
see it read, it you, go what is that going
to be?
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Big?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Like did you THINK i mean IT'S i did not
think it's one of the best skitch ever On Saturday.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Night, YEAH i did not think it would be.
Speaker 9 (29:24):
THAT i just THOUGHT i would have fun with it
AND i was, like, oh that's that's a fun.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Thing it was a, LOT i was saying a. Lot
BUT i mean when we read it in.
Speaker 9 (29:34):
Table, read it's like almost didn't go because it was
like the because it's just there's just no. One, really
you don't have an. Audience And i'm used to like.
Timing my timing is based off an. Audience it's not all.
Silence SO i MEAN i just sounded sad WHEN i read.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
It you, KNOW i thought you're deadpan delivery.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
Though, well but it's, again we had that study, audience
so it.
Speaker 9 (29:56):
Works but when you're in the table read and it's just,
like you, know a couple of quick laughs but nothing,
big it's it's just gets you, know it could be.
Boring it's just my. Voice like if you just heard
my voice in a silent, room you would be like all,
right like you, know you'd get over.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
It uh.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Yeah. Uh did you have sports heroes or comedian heroes growing?
Speaker 9 (30:19):
Up we had BOTH a, big Big seinfeld, fan SO
i Love. Seinfeld Brian reagan was the one that came.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Up.
Speaker 9 (30:27):
Uh and then, Sports, YEAH i MEAN i was a
Big jordan's like you know The Tiger. Woods, uh that,
era love, sports watched.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Everything Uh.
Speaker 9 (30:37):
Vanderbilt, Uh Corey chavis was one of my. Favorite uh,
yeah he was one of my. Favorite uh he was
my Favorite vanderbilt player WHEN i first, Started, like well
old enough Watching vanderbilt and all.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
That, so but are you more of a basketball.
Speaker 9 (30:52):
Fan With, Uh I'm I'm i'm really across the. Board
uh do Matter vanderbilt or across the?
Speaker 4 (31:00):
BOARD i? WATCH i watch? Everything uh.
Speaker 9 (31:03):
Basketball the THING i love about, basketball especially THE nba right,
now is LIKE i don't really have a, team so
you just get a watch and you kind of follow.
Players as you get, older you kind of start following
players and just then.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Storylines. Uh The Stanley cup this.
Speaker 9 (31:17):
YEAR i watched every every, Round like AND i you,
Know HOCKEY'S i don't know everything about, it but uh it's,
YEAH i mean in, GENERAL i Just i'm a big.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
BIT i mean that's WHY i listened to. You Every.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
How how Was? Seinfeld? Though when you meet? Him it was?
Speaker 9 (31:34):
Great AND I i, THOUGHT i, LIKE i was nervous
about meeting. HIM i didn't know if his gonna be
one of those where you meet him and if he
doesn't know, you you're just gonna be, like, hey you shake
his hand and you move.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
On, uh but we.
Speaker 9 (31:46):
WHEN i he he sent me a very nice. Message
you watch one of my specials and, uh and now
we've got to know each.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
OTHER i MEAN i.
Speaker 9 (31:54):
Won't he tells, you he's, like call me whenever you,
want and you're like you, still, yeah it's like you.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Can't you're, like you, KNOW i mean i'd call you every.
Speaker 13 (32:03):
Day so he goes And Sandler Uh, Sam, oh, Yes
sam again seeing y'all that his model is kind of
a model THAT i love is, like, uh you, know
he does these movies with his friends and he and
and So sam is someone.
Speaker 9 (32:19):
Very much That i've kind of seen his career and
always really admired what he's.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
Done And i've always loved what he did with you.
Speaker 9 (32:25):
Guys, YEAH i always even when y'all were in the,
movies when we see you in the, movies it was
so fun like AND i love the realness of, that
like it was it's you, know it's his, buddies WHICH
i think is a good. Reason that's what that's why
people go watch those, shows because you're like everybody wants
to Be, yeah that's WHAT i would be doing IF
i made, it and he's very.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Loyal, yes he's very. Loyal and one of his friends,
said once you're, in you're. In it's like the. Mafia
yeah he. Will So i've been in twenty two. Movies,
yeah and Then Happy Go more is two is coming,
out so it's, uh he's very. Generous and then he'll, Go,
DANNY i got a part for the Dan, etes and
Then i'll go all, right you, know and then he'll
(33:06):
write something and.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah what was y'all's first? One that's my?
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Boy?
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah TV's Randall.
Speaker 9 (33:13):
Morgan, yeah DID i remember it happening on the show
when he WAS i don't think y'all were on one?
Speaker 2 (33:18):
Yet?
Speaker 4 (33:18):
Right and then he kind, of, uh are you gonna get?
Everybody or someone hasn't?
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Yet, yeah there's BEEN i think you guys have been
in three pixel and then there's The week of With Chris.
Rock uh so, YEAH i think they'se got, now you
know they get in three, movies are, like when did
we get in our next? One?
Speaker 4 (33:35):
Oh? Yeah he goes quick where they just.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
AND i, go, no, NO i don't know if there's any.
MORE i THOUGHT i could put him in like The
gallery for A Happy gilmore, too but there's only you,
KNOW i mean in a subtle way to Ask, sandler
hey if you need some extras The, danettes and then
he didn't. Respond so that usually is the answer that, yeah, yeah, yes. Yes.
Speaker 7 (33:58):
See the problem with that now from our point of
view is what did we do to ruin?
Speaker 12 (34:02):
It?
Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yeah and no one will give us an.
Speaker 7 (34:04):
Answer so it's, like DID i screw that up by
like laughing one? Time or did this guy do something?
Wrong that's many one of us did something wrong to
that's acting.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
Acting they don't give. You you go do an, audition
you just don't, hear and you don't hear. Anything and
it's like five years, later you're you're still like it
might come back.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
JONATHAN i know that when we went to The, players
you have the pairings, party and you told a story
about the trophy that you hand out at the, end
and that everybody thinks there's a trophy for everybody who.
Wins So, Steph i'll let you tell the.
Speaker 12 (37:39):
Story, yeah, well it's an embarrassing. STORY i don't really
think we're gonna be telling it on This that was.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
An intimate Violent oh is that off the? Record? Jonathan all,
right no.
Speaker 12 (37:50):
Longer this is the first public airing of the. Story
so in twenty twenty, Three i've been giving out our
trophy for eighteen. Years give it to the guys on
eighteen On. Sunday you, know they're. Thrilled they take pictures with,
it and THEN i usually roll off and head, home
AND i come back next. Year and in twenty twenty,
(38:13):
three everyone Says steph. Left Steph curry won a dramatic.
Finish he left with the trophy AND i said it's
cool he. Won they, said, no, no we only have one.
Trophy AND i had been giving out the same trophy
for eighteen, years had no idea THAT i was doing,
that and they were all panic that he left with.
(38:33):
It so Actually stuph left with the trophy that's from nineteen.
Ninety and after THAT i felt so bad THAT i
had Thought i'd given these guys he show he's including
Like romo And marty WHEN i see him on tea
from their homes and they have their trophies on the back.
WALL i never saw him on And i'm, texting, like
where's my? Trophy SO i felt so. BAD i went
(38:54):
backwards over the previous five years and flew around the,
country had trophies made for the previous five years Is, Molder, Thanny, Tony,
marty and gave him all the trophies they actually.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Are, NO i didn't know if it was off the.
Record it's not off the record. Anymore, no you do
an incredible job, Here but when you look back twenty
six years ago and just the numbers of trying to
get people to come here and then even fans to show,
up like what change do you? Think So it was kind.
Speaker 12 (39:23):
Of a, potato chip and hotdog event for a long,
time and we really decided that golf was, growing the
influence of celebrity was, growing and we, thought let's bring this,
together and we poured a lot of money into this
and just we've turned this into some way or another
the Super bowl of celebrity. Golf and you, know all
(39:44):
these guys we, have you, know hundreds of people that
we'd love to be, here who would also like to be,
here who we just don't have room. For and it
built upon itself largely through word of. Mouth and you,
know back then we had a few thousand people walking,
Around we had fifty or sixty. Players this, year we'll
probably have over eighty thousand people, here WHICH i think
is more than MOST pga. Tournaments we'll have five and
(40:07):
a half to six million viewers and billions of posts.
Generated it's been an incredible.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Journey how much money have you? Raised so there's two
sides to, That. Dan one for local.
Speaker 12 (40:19):
Charities we've raised about eight million dollars local and national
charities over the. Years that give away we give. Away
but in addition to, That American center. Investments when you
do business With American century buy mutual, funds, ETFs, iras.
Whatever we direct over forty percent of our profits each
and every year to medical research to find cures for
cancer and other gene based. Diseases and since year two,
(40:41):
thousand we've directed over two point two billion dollars to.
Fund so there's what we do from the golf, tournament
and then there's What American century does as a business.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Model Jonathan, Thomas, CHAIRMAN ceo And president Of American Century.
Investments thank you for allowing us to come. Out we'll

ever seen our.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Property CAN i have this footprint next?
Speaker 12 (41:13):
Year, well now that people have seen, that it's kind
of like the trophy. Story the story's. Out everyone's gonna
want something like. This BUT i don't know if we
have room for more than one of.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
