Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Cavino on rich In for the Great Dan Patrick.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Two days until Christmas. Love hang with you, guys. Yeah,
it's a pleasure to be here in honor for sure.
Steve Covino and Rich Davis live from the mean streets
of La Hope.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
You had a nice weekend A Raven's Commander's Bill's sort
of weekend of Paul Goldschmidt sort of weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Well, Paul White is a good story with the pinstrip's right,
you know, Goofy, that dude's gonna look without stubble or
a beard. Yeah, buddy, Actually I wasn't that pumped about it.
One year, thirty seven years old, thirty seven on the
field old, one year. Hold that thug because I got
Yankees baseball thoughts for you, buddy boy. Before we get
into your grievances and celebrate Festivus, I want to say

(00:45):
rest in peace, Ricky Henderson, and I want to say
that speaking of the Yankees, in that move, they made
more than ever. As I sit there and I debate
all these offseason moves, amazing that we're even talking baseball
off season during football and basketball, right, It's been a
fun offseason more than ever. You and your Mets having
Juan Soto had me thinking over the weekend because I'm like,

(01:08):
the Yankees might.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Be winning the off season.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Bellinger Freed, Williams Goldschmidt. You're like, Wow, that forced them
to actually be smarter and make some really important moves.
But I'm thinking, like, how little playing for the Yankees

(01:31):
really matters to some of these big stars or playing
for big market teams.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
It's all about the money, to the.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Point where, yeah, we understood that it's a business for
these franchises, but it's equally a business for the players.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
More than ever.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
To think a player cares about wearing the pinstripes or
being in Monument Park.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
It was so long ago for the.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I'm glad you're accepting them, ree Steve Cavino going into
twenty twenty five ers to me, I'm in my forties,
yeah right. Or for these young dudes, they don't give
a Diddley Yogi just a big day. They don't realize
that they don't give a Diddley squad about the Yankee
Clipper or the scooter.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
They don't care about any of that stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
They care about the bag, and that is this is
amazing spot.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Are you hearing this after?

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I mean, I know it's just such a business. I
think it's just caught up with the players and finally
caught up with me. I guess it was really sinking
in over the weekend. It's, uh, this is big for us.
I know we're filling it for DP, but to know
Covino as a lifelong Yankees fan, he's the type of
guy that talks about the pinstripes like relentlessly, to the
point that you're coming around to these younger guys don't care.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Soto didn't care. He didn't care at all.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
And I don't think it was chasing the bag as
much as his loyalty and fascination with the Yankees just
wasn't there. And that probably applies to a lot of
young players. I wouldn't say Cody Bellinger because his dad
played for the Yankees, so he knows of the legacy
and the importance the history, right, and it's just not
important to a lot of these dudes.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Anyway, your other.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Takeaways, things that made you go home, will wrap it up,
and we're gonna air our agrievances, but celebrate the journeys
that bring us closer together with an exclusive offer on
a vehicle you'll adore at the Mercedes Benz Holiday Love
Celebration going on now.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Through January second.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Learn more at nbusa dot com slash special offers. We
get that Dan Patrick Mercedes who cover?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
That would be sweet alight. I got a few more takeaways, Rich, Yeah,
you know you.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
You and I have really enjoyed the heavyweight division of boxing.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
What do you think of Usak Fury? I think my
biggest takeaway is Fury's.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Fury's off if he thinks he won that fight, he
thought he won both fights. He's adamant that the two
losses on his record are both wins.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
He battled but is superior.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
It was the first time that they used AI and
AI judge. It didn't affect the scoring, but they used
an AI judge just to see and they had two
rounds for Fury. Usik dominated the fight. But I think
my takeaway is it's the end of a heavyweight era
in start of a new one. And when I say
end of an era, meaning the Furies, the Wilders, the

(04:14):
Joshua was quick. It was ten years. It was a
ten year spam that's a quick ten years. No, I'm
saying living like, yeah, that's that's a long That era
is over because Alexander Usik is the guy you know
who's gonna beat his late thirties but he Yeah, you're right,
Fury has battled and he has that that wear and
tear on him. He's younger than Usik, but it's the

(04:36):
it's the Usik era, and when all said and done,
we look back, he was the best of all of
them because he fights like a middleweight, moves like a middleweight,
because he's not as big and clumsy as these other guys.
Usik dominant over Fury, and I think Fury's only bet
because I don't think he's done by any means, but
he can't beat Usick. Is maybe that Anthony Joshua fight

(04:56):
that people waited for a long time, Uh, that.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Would be god.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Watching Tyson Fury fight Anthony Joshua now is worse than
waiting ten years to see Pakiao Mayweather like we did well,
it's like even more pass it's watching two dudes that
lost to Usik twice. Now, that's what I'm saying. I
don't think Usik is getting the credit that he deserves.
Maybe he's a boring champion of some but I'm telling

(05:19):
you he's not. There's a language barrier there, But this
dude's an animal. He's a great boxer. He's actually kind
of funny, and I like him a lot. You got
to start paying attention to this dude if you haven't,
because I don't think anybody could beat him.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Olex Center.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Usik wou a nice win over Fury, but that era
of like I said, Fury Joshua Wilder done done and
we're moving on. Maybe it's the Usik du Bois era
and we'll see that rematch maybe sometime soon. But a
good fight over the weekend. I'll probably bring that up
throughout the day because I have a lot of takeaways.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
From the fight.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I think the Steelers lost to the Ravens said a
lot about the Steelers. I was like, if they could
beat the Ravens, this shows they're a legitimate team. They're
both ten and five. I mean they did earlier in
the season, but you know that was yeah, but yeah,
you saw the difference. I think this weekend you saw
Russell Wilson get popped too.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
He got popped over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
But I thought that was a statement game, the Ravens
showing they're the better team, just like the Vikings were like, no,
we're way better than the Seahawks. I'm just going over
my notes here, rich on other.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Take on I gotta run Russell Wilson thought for you guys, Yeah,
we're gonna run it by you. Because we've been in
the industry a while. I'm sure you guys have been
in this position. Okay, So the Russell Wilson Sean Payton
thing last year, right, Sean Payton gets hired to be
the head coach of the Broncos, and I think in
his head he said, Russell Wilson is not going to
be my quarterback and he made up that mine and

(06:44):
he said well before he even got out to the
practice field. Okay, So every little mistake that Russell Wilson
made last year, I think Peyton used it against him.
And remember there was that sideline of currents I think
in in December last year where he just went off
on Russell Wilson on the sidelines. He made it in
front of the all all the cameras and everything else.
And my theory is this. I once produced a show

(07:08):
for a host that didn't want me as a producer. Okay,
he got hired into the show that I was producing,
and from day one he didn't want me as a producer.
So every single mistake I made, that the smallest of mistakes,
was magnified, no doubt. I think I'm Russell Wilson in
this analogy. I think Russell Wilson kind of got a
raw deal because his numbers were not awful with the Broncos.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
The NFL quarterback, You're right, it's a you know, in
our industry.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Jason makes a great point.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
You could be we'll talk old school radio more than
you know, because now it's a big podcasting world. But
back in the day, when like a new program director
would coming to a radio station, the morning show knew,
which was always the big the morning show, right, they
would know if this guy doesn't like me, this woman
doesn't like me, I'm out, and they're gonna they're gonna,
like you said, magnify everything they don't like about our show.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
And in the NFL, what's the show the quarterback? And yeah,
he he was. That's a that's a great point.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Russ is a good quarterback, and I think we lost
sight of that and it's easy to pile on the
way we pile on Aaron Rodgers. Now well Russell for
admitted it was so easy to pile on Russell Wilson.
It's real And yeah, I was gonna say he provided
you with a lot of cringy ammo to go along
with the.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
A's a weirdo for sure, but I think he's a
good quarterback. And to me to your point, Cad, you
know the fact that we're even talking about are the
Steelers contenders? Like, if you're a Steelers fan, you would
take that back in before the season.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
You didn't know what that is going to be. Without
a doubt they were in that game. But again, the
Ravens so raven, We're so raven and pulled ahead and
show that they were the team. And I have one
more takeaway, rich at is non football related. We'll wrap
up things that made you go hmm, unless you want
to chime in again at eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox or hit us up at Covino and Rich.

(08:54):
So last night, late last night, early this morning, I
started seeing all this talk about Kim Kardashian.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I was like, all right, on the show. Now, I
don't watch the show, but I do see it from
time to time, Right, I see it, but I'm not
a fan fan of hers.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
You're a fan of Cheeks, right, but I don't watch
the show. If you're new to our show.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
I remember there was an episode where the family went
into the studio. You're a fan of her, Skim seads
I am Travis Barker's studio, and they made like a
little holiday album like with the mom and Kim sang
Santa Baby. You know, it's like some goofy holiday episode
or whatever, and like, oh, we're making a family CD

(09:40):
just for fun or whatever. So it turns out like
a year later, twenty twenty four, they released this Santa
Baby as a single mail. But they put a video
out to it today, right, And I saw it late
last night. So there's a Santa Baby video, and you
gotta see it. I think a lot people are gonna
be talking about it today. Made me say hmm.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Made me say.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Huh, because it's a Christmas video.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Right.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
She's crawling around.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Like a like a cat, like a feeline. Throughout the
entire video. She's got a blonde wig on and she's
crawling around singing a very sexy, sultry Sanda Baby, And
there's a lot of controversy going on around it because
it all comes back to your boy that you started
off the show with Kevin McAllister.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
He makes a cameo. Word up, he makes a cameo.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
And there's a lot of like, I mean, it's really
not that deep, but people are looking deep into it, saying, oh,
there's too many religious symbolism involved here. But I think
she's crawling through like a holiday party. But some of
the people are justsed like religious figures. So all day
today you're going to see this on social media. I
don't know you're gonna be able to avoid it, but

(10:54):
I think it's it's worth the watch either way because
she looks hot.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Simple made me say hmm.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Over the years, have you guys talked about that song
Santa Baby?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Well, I did during the commercials. I asked Spot what
a sable was because I had no idea, but a
sable under the tree for Steve it's like a fur coat.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
I didn't know how just kind of out of the
ordinary that is for your typical holiday joyous song like
it's it is far too seductive for kids, so it's
a I guess it's appealing to the should we cancel it?

Speaker 2 (11:31):
They canceled Baby It's cold outside a few minutes ago. Hilarious. Yeah,
it is a very sexy song, especially when Kim Kardashian
a baby.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Just slip a sable under the tree from me, I've
been an awfully good girl.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Awfully Yeah, what is that about? It crawling around? So
maybe say so you'll see that today.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
But there's a yeah, there's a lot of like unnecessary
controversy about the video because.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
People are like, what is this about? What's the here?

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Yeah, well listen, Convin and rich In for Dan Patrick.
Now coming up, we are going to share some real
fun Ricky Henderson's stories Rest in peace. Everyone knows at
least one good Ricky Henderson's story, So thinking yours one,
you've heard one, You've read a lot of moments. I've
got a million moments. A lot of Rickey Henderson moments
live on in memes and social media. So we'll pay

(12:20):
tribute to the late great Ricky Henderson. There's a deep
thought we have about regifting. We'll talk more NFL. I
have party thoughts as a Niners fan, but I do
want to talk real quickly.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
I mean, you said it before.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Baseball had a huge year ratings wise, and you know,
I think there was a lot that baseball did right
this year. Where the NBA is losing a lot of interest,
ratings are down, I think baseball's doing it right the
last twelve.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
To twenty four months.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
The fact that we're talking about baseball, you know, during
Week sixteen of the NFL, is insane to me as
a baseball fan. Right, we just had a big fight
this weekend. You got the NBA, all the controversy around
the ratings and NBA, we're talking baseball bat Walker Bueler.
This is another thing. Maybe you think it was like loyalty.

(13:13):
These pros ain't loyal, Dude. These we knew the teams
weren't right. We knew that, But to leave a championship
team for the Red Sox, give me a break.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Is madd He's now cross town? Huh.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Walker Buehler and the Red Sox are an agreement on
a one year, twenty one million dollar deal. According to
Jeff Passon.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
I loved Walker. I really did love Walker.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
It's just that he has those arm injuries, and it's
there's two sides of her stories.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Dude.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
I think this was maybe even more a daughter's decision
or was a Walker decision? I really do, because you
see he's at least two maybe even three surgeries in
at this point. I love him as a competitor and
he closed out the World Series. But yeah, that's there's
two sides of her story.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Amazing how he had a comeback at the end, as
he said he had nothing all years. I mean, came
back real strong.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
It's like a stock, it's a crypto. It's like a relationship.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Sometimes you got in the wind to cash out and
the Dodgers, I feel like the Dodgers, you got all
the juice out of that squeeze and they won a
World Series. He delivered in key moments. But it's sometimes
you gotta say, I think we got the most out
of that guy.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
And it is business, you know.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
I My example is a far a few between because
my Mets never do, you know, big things. They had
a good year this year, but it feels like you're
more of a business than ever before. Yeah, I just
feel like there are times when you saw a good
player get let go after what you thought was a
great year. But it's like, or did they get the
most out of that guy? And it's time to move on.
My Mets have done away. I remember after the eighty

(14:44):
six and they won when we were when I was
a kid, Ray Knight the next year, you know, World
Series MVP. Later they did it with Jose Rays after
winning a batting title.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Sometimes you got to know ri A. Dickey, you know.
Sometimes you you see, like I got the guy's best year.
What are we doing here?

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Well?

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Speaking of you know, they signed Manaya overnight. I like that.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
I you know what we get his Did you get
his best year last year? That was kind of one
of those things. He's had a very up and down.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Cred he has, and I think because if you're a
baseball fan, you know that he changed his release point.
He went from like an overhand pitcher to like a
three quarters and ever since he changed the way he pitches,
reinvented himself. He like reinvented himself. So hopefully, I mean,
I like the move as a Mets fan. Manaiya signed
a deal with the Mets. Moves are being made. But
here's my question. I want to you know, I don't

(15:31):
want to put anyone on the spot because they just
popped in my head now, but all sports, baseball football, basketball, hockey,
you name it.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
What about hot dog eating? It's not the four major
sports hot dog, of course.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Are you more of a Joey chestnut guy or a
crazy legs Kanti Kobyashi?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Who's your guy? Always crazy legs Khan?

Speaker 3 (15:50):
I know, so, has there ever been an example in
your noggin where a team took a chance on a
lot of very low risk, high reward guys and it
worked out? Because right now, I look, I'm a Mets fan.
I live in La now, but I grew up in

(16:11):
Queens and Long Island. I look at your Yankees Cavino,
and I feel like it's gonna go terribly or amazing,
And I just don't know if there's an in between.
Bellinger and gold Schmidt are two guys that within the
last five to ten years, they're like these like MVP,
Hall of Fame potential type of guys. There's a mean
floating around today and it's man if if these guys

(16:35):
were playing in twenty seventeen, he'd have a squad between
Judge Stanton Bellinger and Goldschmidt.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Stan Stille his prime.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
But I'm saying, I don't say job he judge.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
These guys are I mean, they're all in their thirties
at this I think Judge Baseball, Yeah, they're Judge is
not hurting any means. But Stanton had fifty nine home
runs in twenty so I'm saying, yeah, all these dudes
had like forty and above home leads in twenty seventeen.
Leave Edge out of the conversation because you know he's
the reigning MVP. But John Carlo Stanton is only getting older.

(17:07):
Paul Goldschmidt, I love the deal. You guys got him
one year.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Let's keep this in mind.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
He's thirty seven, young man in life, old guy on
the field, young man in life. We get that completely.
But yeah, he's definitely he's definitely questioned, questionable. But there
have been you know, a guy that comes to mind
for me that delivered later in his career, Nelson Cruz.
There are guys that put up big numbers later on.

(17:32):
But as a metsman, I could speak as a fan
of a team that thought that they were going to
go to the World Series because they got Max Scherzer
and Justin Verlander and they had two cy young dudes
on their team, and that couldn't have turned out worse.
I mean, by the end of the year, they're both gone. Now,
luckily the Met's got some draft picks and money for

(17:53):
that in the end.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
But these low risk Kyrie Ward deals make sense to me.
Or I'm not mad at him.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
I was a year I was that the Dodgers got
away with some great steals when they would do these
one year deals with Kershaw. Exactly, what's the risk one
year if it doesn't work out? You know, are you
confident you're wearing your Yankees hat today? Well, we also
woke up at five a m. So that takes me
a good half hour to comb this pompadoo. So of

(18:21):
those two Bellinger gold Schmidt about both, No, I'm more
concerned about I can't say I love the gold Schmidt
deal by any means, but I'm not mad at it either,
because it's a one year deal. The Goldschmith's a guy
that for a long time million, which is it's not
breaking the bank for the Yankees.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Yeah, so, and I don't really care. It's not my money.
But no, I'm not excited about it, but I'm not
mad at it either. I'm like, all right, like you said,
low risk Kyrie Ward, a guy that's making one fifth
of one fourth of what Judge is getting or these
it's a one year deal, said me A few things.
To me says that Alonzo's options are low, right, He's

(19:00):
probably gonna end up with the Mets again. And it
says to me, the Yankees are really going to shoot
for a third baseman, some sort of power hitting third basement.
And last I heard Harnado was accepting a move there.
But I don't. I don't want him either again again
you have, you'll have.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
It's like when the remember when the Lakers had Karl Malone,
Did they have Gary Payton too?

Speaker 2 (19:21):
They had like everyone and Malone championship runs at the end.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
I wouldn't want that move either, But it is now
saying to me, the Yankees are going to make a
move for a third baseman in twenty twenty two. In
twenty twenty two, Cavino Paul Goldschmidt batted three seventeen and
your dude had thirty five homers, one hundred and fifteen ribbons.

(19:48):
That was his MVP season though, yeah he was MVP
not that long ago. So he's still got a game
a couple of seasons ago. So do you fall off
that quick? I mean some people do. Come on, Aaron
Rodgers was also on MVP in twenty twenty two, so
it happens. Yeah, but your yeah, your thoughts on that
as well. Look at Tyson Fury. Dude, he went from

(20:10):
unbeatable to lost tu in Arow, lost Tunerow to Alexander Usak,
a guy who weighed fifty five pounds less than him.
So yeah, in the world of sports, it's like that man.
Uh but yeah, some big moves over the weekend got
us saying, hmmm, but now we air our grievances and
we want you to start thinking about him today. As
you might know, December twenty third is festiv Us. If

in the world of sports has annoyed the hell out
of you over the last twelve months. You what talking
to you about sports?

Speaker 3 (21:05):
What has annoyed you the most over the last twelve months?

Speaker 2 (21:08):
A sports you annoy me so most well, answer.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Way too Central for Christmas Boy.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, Covino and ring in for Dan Patrick the DP
Unnatural the Dan Patrick Unnatural Holiday Hat Trick are for
day hat trick.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
You know, Mike runs his place.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Yeah, he was crawling around the hallways like Kim Kardashian
in the Santa Baby video. It's all the controversy today
the Kim k Kimmy Cakes video for her version of
Santa Baby.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
But what is this? Is this the Madonna one listening to?
Is the Earth the Kid? Is the original? Sing? No,
it's not. It's Earth the Kit. It's on Apple Music
and on Spotify, but it's not on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I like it, Mary Mary on the Ones and Twoes,
Jay stew producing at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
If you want to chime in, we welcome you. The
most inclusive show on radio.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Covino and Rich eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
again at Covino and Rich on social media at Fox
Sports Radio. You know, Rich, before we get into your grievances, Yeah,
I do want to remind people to follow our podcast
because normally we're on from five to seven on the
East Monday through Friday two to four out here on
the West side. So follow Covino and Rich wherever you
stream your podcast as CoV covid'll probably come up first,

(23:42):
but carry on, co ov I and O Covino and Rich.
That's I never realized how much that must suck for you.
I'm surprised my daughter didn't deal with more with you know, harassment.
Kids don't make fun of each other the way they
used to, right.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
Right, Yeah, all right, covid No, honestly, ever since twenty twenty,
you start searching our show, you have to get to
the end in Cavino before covid stuff goes away.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
And we have a bonus podcast you could watch or
listen to. It's on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. It's
a really fun watch. Give us twenty two minutes, We'll
give you the world. I just made that up.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
You're like that. I think Yeah, it's a twenty two
minute show.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Give or take is called over promised because this guy
to my left, Rich just loves to babble and blabber true,
and he over prompts his things. We never get to
over promised with Cavino and Rich. Check it out on
Fox Sports Radios YouTube page.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Now, it is time for something that goes down every
December twenty third thanks to Frank Costanza, and it's called Festivus.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
The point of festivals. Take a listen. The tradition of
Festivus begins with the airing of Gravances. I got a
lot of problems with your people. Now you're gonna hear
about it.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
All right, break out the fest of his poll and
here's where you let us know what the hell annoyed
you over the last twelve months in the world of sports,
in the world of entertainment, music, anything, what.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Bothered the hell out of you? In twenty twenty four,
it's your turn. Aside from you and your hyperactivity, I'm
a delight jay Stu. Last night, I'll tell you what
bothered me. Rich calling me out last night.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
He often calls me with no purpose, and it's like,
that's what you called me for you could have texted
me that. That makes me angry and I want to
air that grievance.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Yes, text me.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
This is why I sit there bewildered, Like that's why
he called me? Was he bored on his ride home?
Is he on the ball? That was a total text?
Are you just like seeing if I was alive? What
was the point and purpose of that now twenty years ago?
That that's fine? Right, right, right, But I want to
get this right. Gary Goleman is one of my favorite
comedy love comedians. Okay, he said he has this bit

(25:54):
and it's perfect. The phone is simply an app on
my phone. And if you're gonna use a better count,
I love Gary, I love Gary. Gary Goleman, shout out
to Gary. I call him a system of a goldman
now or gulman of a down. Have you seen him lately?
It's like surge from system of a down. He grew
out like this long goatee and everything my grievances have

(26:20):
to do with rich Actually no, he calls me last
night and he starts to mansplain what Festivus is.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
He's like, hey, I got a great idea for tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Tomorrow's the twenty third, He's like, how about we do
Festivus and let people air their grievances in the world.
The sports are just life or whatever. I was like,
that's great, and then he continues to explain to me
what it is. As if I haven't talked to the
guy for twenty years, you're also you're also the guy
that's like, never really watched Si Fel, I'm aware of

(26:52):
pop culture references. Who hasn't been seen that or heard
the reference by now?

Speaker 6 (26:57):
I also feel like we talk about it every year
because I become a pop culture thing in the last
few years.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Every you guys know, this doesn't have to be about
what you hate about me.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
I had a pause. First of all, this clip on
our show. We joke about it.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah, I didn't mind that he called me to let's
talk about what we're gonna do on DP tomorrow. That's
an important conversation to me. But when he goes on
explaining what Festivus is, I'm like, you mean what we've
talked about for twenty years to get and.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
We're going to make him cry.

Speaker 6 (27:26):
By th way, when Rich calls you, by the way,
never have a follow up question because he'll get bored
and hang up on you.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
But you guys hate about me. No, no, here. Here's
the other thing with Rich when he calls is all
sense of urgency, right, but when you call him, he's
nowhere to be found for like, so he.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Oh my god, what he dimmed? Your wife's just disappear?
So hey, where's Rich together? I guess he's busy. So anyway, grievance.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
By the way, Cavino, on top of your grievance, I
can add the fact that he called you to talk
about today's show without looping me.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Yet we're talking about the show tomorrow. Might as well
add the producer, you know, that would have been a
smart thing to do. They talk about you, that's why.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
But I did have a little like nugget of something then,
so I'm like, are you man explaining to me right
now as if I don't know what it is? And
he's like yeah, but I figured, He goes, well, if
you know what's the second part oft of it? And
I was like, I don't know having the pole the
festival bowl, I didn't know the second part.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
So I'll give you that. Can you explain what the
feats of strength? Yeah? Is that? Are you doing that
as well.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Since we're talking festivs, can you at least explain the
Seinfeld reference. Yeah, the origins it was an I mean,
if you want me to mansplaining to dummies like you
know the second part though, because I remember hearing it,
but I don't really know what the feats of Twenty
years ago, I went to the store.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
I purchased a doll for my son. Yeah, take a list.
Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for
my son. I reach for the last one they had,
but so did another man.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
As I rain.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Blows upon him, I realized that had to be another way.
What happened to the dog? It was destroyed. But out
of that, I now Holiday was born a Festivus for
the rest of us. That must have been some kind
of doll she was.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
So it's a Grievance's day that I know what are
the feats of strength based on his uh fighting for
the doll?

Speaker 2 (29:22):
You have to that's really what it comes from.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Okay, So, Mike Grievance has had nothing to do with
you until you when it may and now I have
a million of them. Let's start with you thinking the
Yankees pinstripes mean anything they do to the fans, they
do to anyone over thirty five. My number one grievance
is that I think it's funny. In fact, I think
it makes you guys look lame. The fact that the

(29:47):
Yankees still have this no facial hair rule. I see
every headshot of Paul Goldschmidt like a handsome late thirties guy.
It's gonna have to look like a baby face nerd
because the Yankees were safe shave your stuff. How outdated.
Poor Devin Williams gonna have to come out of the
bullpen with uh, you know, raising burn because he has
to shave before he closes out the game, first time

(30:09):
in six years that he has to be clean shaven. Yeah,
that's that's kind of tough. Here's why. Here's you know what, rich.
I agree that the Yankees have a tradition. I agree
that maybe it's pasted right. Sometimes tradition is making the
same mistake over and over again, and maybe in today's
world that doesn't fly. But I think there's a middle ground,

(30:30):
Like there's a compromise. You can't come in looking like
a hobo, but maybe you come in and still have
long hair, just well groomed yeah, I'm not saying it
looks like a Red Sox two thousans, but like, you know,
compromise a little bit. But it got me thinking that
Devin Williams situation. He hasn't shaved in six years. What
if he's covering up a a week chin or maybe
he does get that razor burn that some people get.

(30:52):
For all we know he has some frog eggs under
there and he doesn't want to really expose that. Maybe
that takes away from his confidence. I want this guy
to feel confident on it. Sometimes you feel good, you
play good. Somebody once said that Jerry Rice exactly. It
was Jerry Rice. So you know what, rich I believe
in looking your best and presenting your best, unlike you
who wear sweatpants to work every day. Just kidding, but

(31:15):
I do believe that it's an outdated rule, man, I
do I think they have to adjust it.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
I am wearing sweatpants right now.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Your grievances I got one at eight seven seven nine
nine on Fox.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
What else he I open it up to you?

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Fox Sports Radio, Dan Patrick Nation eight seven seven ninety
nine Fox eight at Covino and Rich our boys spot here?

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Who does our videos again?

Speaker 3 (31:36):
At Covino and Rich and he produces our Patreon if
you want to check that out. He pointed this out
and broke the glass to me, But since then I
despise it. It's the jabbroni on social media whose sole
purpose is just to point at the content. It's like,
what are you contributing to this video and to my life?

(31:57):
Get out of my face? And if you don't know
I'm talking about, it's a video about drones or a
video about aliens or Aaron Rodgers. And all this ask
Klan is doing is pointing at someone else's content, right,
He's pointing. So I've taken upon myself to tell these people,
you know, because they usually pose it with a question

(32:19):
or something like and what do you think I think
I'd understand more if you pointed a little more. Literally
pointing would have done me a lot better.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
In this video, I'm.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Pointing at Kavino as he's making this point. Yeah, post
that video that to me millions of views.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
You're offering nothing to the world, and I want to
karate kick you in the sternum.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
And what it annoays be is usually the pointer gets
more views than the original.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Can that really bothers you if you know what I'm
talking about. Okay, that's a huge problem on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Now that we pointed it out though, on a national scale,
on a huge platform, that Dan Patrick show, millions of
people are gonna be like, you know what, I hate
that guy too, Send him all the hate in the world.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Tell them to get a life, get a life, Get a.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
Life, Chase, Do I know one of your professional pointer
one of Chase do is pet peeves? Is the people
that are shocked that time is moving along.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
It is.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
It's my favorite one and I don't even know if
it's a pet peeve. Is that it's just I like
making fun of unsophisticated, unoriginal people. And if you're if
you're partaking in small talk, if you walk into an
ovator with a bunch of strangers, I think it's easy
just to go to those low hanging fruit small talk things. Man,
it's already it's already Christmas. Could you believe it?

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Man?

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Ex it was just Christmas yesterday.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
I hate those people too, because I'm not good at it.
I hate I'm allergic to small talk. But can I
add a little nugget to the premise?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Then?

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Man, times of flying? But my theory is this, and
it really bothers me, so I'll air my grievance. I
feel like after COVID the world has been on fast
forward and I can't wrap my head around the schedule.
After COVID, I feel like we're in a time warp
and something happened and times moving way too fast. Something
happened after COVID, where I was never the same in

(34:03):
my perception of time is off, Like everything pre COVID
is different to me than after COVID, and after COVID
is twenty twenty five. Already that bothers me. I'm gonna
air my grievance.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
It sounds like long COVID. It sounds like long I think.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
You still have long COVID. I think, yeah, maybe I do. Honestly,
you share this sentiment. There's a big trend on social
media now where mostly like millennials, a lot of people
in their thirties are saying that they feel as though
again post.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
COVID is like a weird world for them.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Well, I think the sentiment you're seeing a lot as
am I on social media, as people saying that they've
never they've the feeling of happiness hasn't been the same,
like the spark of life.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Has been different. Interesting.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
I have one more now and then we'll take all
of your feedback. I hate, you know, people talking about
Lebron versus Michael Jordan. We say that's the most like
eye rolly, weak ass go to sports debate like.

Speaker 1 (35:06):
Jordan or Lebron.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
I feel like one of There's a debate that bothers
me even more, and it's is Diehard a Christmas movie?

Speaker 2 (35:15):
I just feel like it's it's the Jase do.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
I'd rather someone say, man, Tom's flying in an elevator
then then ask someone, Hey, what's your favorite Christmas movie?
And it's instead of having instead of having a real
answer like oh, it's a.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Wonderful life for Elf or oh, Christmas vacation. You know,
I'm a big fan of love.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Actually, when someone's like Diehard, I'm like, oh my god,
how masculine are you trying to appear?

Speaker 2 (35:37):
I agree with die Hard. And by the way, fun
fact it was released in July. It's not a Christmas
as we said recently.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
It's the fact, no, but it's it's the fact that
the person saying that acts as if you didn't ever
hear before that you know Diehard is a Christmas movie, Like,
oh really never heard that one before?

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Relation that's what makes it an a Christmas I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Well, we'll take your feedback airing of grievances. What the
heck it's Festivus covenon rich In for the Great Dan Patrick,
and we'll talk some more NFL, your grievances and an
interesting story about regifting in the world of the NBA.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
So hang tight.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I know Santa Babies All the rage right now by
Kim Kardashian, But Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas song is
probably one of the best ones ever all time. I'm
a huge Alvin fan, and I never understood rich when
David Siville will be like almn he could hardly wait

(36:48):
for school to start again.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
I never understood that. Now I do.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, you know what kids are pain in the ass.
You can hear your grievances. That's what we're doing here
in Fox Sports Radio. I my grievance is that you
love the song. You think you're an Alvin, But after
your holiday snack and you're more of a Theodore bro.
I mean, who is Yeah? Who isn't after all the
holiday snacking? How do you not snack? By the way,
it's I wanted to start doing like a new workout routine.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Spy.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
You were turning me on too, that f forty five
deal forty five I've.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Done orange theory.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
I don't feel like doing CrossFit him on my forties.
I don't want to break anything.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
So I was like, let me, let me get a
little new workout going. What was I I was like
the week before Christmas? What am I thinking?

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Wait till the new year like every other idiot, And
that's when you start a new workout plan.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Now grievances, I got one. What do you got? By
the way, we open it up to you.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Fox Sports Radio Nation, Covino and rich In for Dan
Patrick the unnatural holiday hat trick. This is day one
of three Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We're filling in for
Dan Patrick. So we're gonna air our grievances. Could be
in the world of sports. Absolutely, your team made a
week move. Let us know I got when you brought

(37:59):
up the gym, how about all these broccoli heads in
their pajama pants and crocs in their tank tops. These
broccoli heads, I'm talking about the Alpaca boys, these young
men at the gym, hogging up every piece of equipment
that you're trying to use. I want to air my
grievance on the broccoli heads. I commend these young men
for hitting the gym and trying to get in shape.

(38:22):
I I do commend that, but their overall look and
how they just hang in my presence and in my way.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I don't like that at the gym.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Get old guy, you sound like good old guy, But
I agree, I listen. I admire, you know, younger people
working out. But when I do see teenagers at the gym,
my first thought is is there a fieldhouse or a
gym at your school or something else?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Like that's what we all when you played high school sports.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
And then even get a battle through, like six of
you to use one piece of equipment, and they travel
and pack.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
I'll pack us. I'll travel travel in packs. I guess
now you know. On the opposite, I do applaud the
goofy haircut. I do all the college girls at the
gym with those yoga pants with the did the crease
in the in the butt crack? It's a John Crees.
What are those? It's a John because it keeps at
inch cinch, a butt inch.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
A butts guess what butt cinch? My favorite thing of
twenty twenty four? Thank you there. In fact, missus grievance
is women that don't wear the butt cinch.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
What are we doing? We not butts inch? Yeah, Festiv
for the rest of us. So let's let's go to
your phone calls, JASU, Who do we got? I got
Nick in California. Nick, You're wrong?

Speaker 7 (39:31):
Yeah, Hey, guys, nice listening to you. Uh, this is Nick.
I'm definitely uh have a grievance about baseball. I'm a
lifelong Dodger fan. How could I possibly have agreements? You're saying, Yeah,
I love the fact that the baseball made a change
and had insurer for the National League and we ended

(39:54):
up getting Otani and without him we would have won
the World Series. But like any good cook in the
kitchen nose, once you have enough salt, it doesn't mean
put in more salt. This beat that they come up
with the magical faery at bat or whatever they're calling it,
that they cannot do that, Freddie Freeman is a testament

(40:15):
to the fact that we already have the magic. We
don't need to add more salt to the students. They
really did a good job with the pitch clock. They
really did a good job with making the bases bigger
to re encourage stealing. These were problems that they addressed.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
I agree. I agree.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
You know what a golden at bat is just a
suggestion is a concept. That's just a suggestion. I don't
mind ideas, right, ideas, especially in our world we talk
for hours at a time. It may be a weak
ass idea, but maybe it spurs a better one, right,
another idea comes from that idea. I think the big
conversation lately when it comes to ideas. Baseball has done
a lot of changing for the positive football here, and

(40:57):
they're good change, bad change. I think I think the
big change needs to happening in football is the on
side kick is awful, Like you know, you see these
great endings and whether they do that, oh you get
the ball fourth and twenty from your own twenty something.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
They gotta do something the on site kick And what did.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Danny g say, our producer Monday through Friday, He's like, yeah,
it's a seven percent success rate, something ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
It rarely works out. But the question is this is terrible.
What are they do in the NBA? That's the question.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
I feel like that's gonna be a big thought moving
The NBA is just a grievance for everybody at this point.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
A festivus for the rest of us.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
So we'll continue and wrap up your grievances, and we
gotta pay our tributes to Ricky Henderson. Yeah, think about
your favorite Ricky Henderson moment. I know you got one,
Jay stew Kevino, there's so many great anecdotes and stories.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
We'll do that next Cavino rich In for Dan Patrick
