(00:28):
com and you can get all of your inspiration if
you want to send out a great gift for the holidays.
We have bacon wrapped filet mignon, Ribbi steak, Pannini's pork chop,
millonaise cream corn. Who has it better than we do? No, No,
nobody's nobody. I completely forgot about Seaton with the poll
(00:54):
question in the first hour of the program.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Well, the t O T D has got a couple
of super snarky pole questions. Woke up in a mood today. Okay,
we could maybe get into a couple of those if
you want.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Did you say steak Panini? I did? Yeah. I don't
think I've ever had a ribbi steak Panina.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I don't know that I ever have you they wouldn't
be ready in the second hour show then not.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Okay, I can see I could put in a request.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
Sampler, like you have one of them ready? We cut
it into a couple of pieces, and well, Dylan is
out there cooking. I know Paul's generally against cutting one
thing into things and a share again, but maybe this
time he would make it.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
I could wink at it. Yeah, So Dylan is out
there and I and my cameraman Weeks is out there.
So I have I got two. I got a chef
and a shoo chow. This is where we need the
rapid radios. You gotta get one of them with the
radio be like, hey, dude, can we get one of
these pretty quickly or what? Although I can go to
the eyes and ears of the program Mario, who's the director.
(01:56):
If I say to Mario, there's Mario and that's Anthony,
and uh, they're all excited. Anthony's a Knicks fan, you
know they're I got a couple of Knicks fans in here. Yeah,
we got the cup. Rob is in there too. Rob's
not going to give you much. Rob is Rob is
(02:16):
a camera shot.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
This is excited.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
You see him, that's him. He's beside himself. Yeah, go
New York, Go, New York.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Go.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
But Mario could be in contact with Dylan, I believe,
to see if we could whip up some paninis in
the second hour of the program. Yes, Tom, what was
that bacon wrapped item? That's except thing, sooner than later.
We'd like to do bacon that one. No, we're only
going with the panines. That's it. Okay, bacon, No, No,
(02:51):
the bacon is for the filet mignan. Yeah, so we'll
see if we can pull that out. All right, snarky
pole question, what do we have here? How long should
a contrived tournament championship.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
Be celebrated a day, a week, a month for eternity
with a banner.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
Up the top?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
So what you're saying is you're not all in on
the Knicks winning this county. Nah, I'd like them to win.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
The actual NBA title, and this kind I don't know,
it's contrived, just like the question says a contrived tournament championship.
Speaker 7 (03:23):
Yes, Marvin, the Knicks should take any championship they can get.
They got Atlantic Division banners up at the garden. They
act like they're the Celtics. Just be happy, be grateful.
First championships is nineteen seventy three.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
What else do you have? Todd?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
The other one was which city would you most like
to see get an NBA team? And I don't know
if we could fit them all, but based on just
some of the research I did in some articles, Kansas City,
Las Vegas, Louisville, Mexico City, Montreal, Nashville, San Diego, Seattle,
Saint Louis, Vancouver, those are among that had at least
(04:00):
are on the blipper on the screen.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yeah, but they some of those cities have had a
team before at the San Diego Clippers, yeah, and the
Seattle Vancouver. It's inevitable it's going to Vegas. And I
would hope Seattle gets a team because they supported that team.
They thought that their team was staying and then ended
(04:23):
up in Oklahoma City.
Speaker 7 (04:24):
Yes, Mark, the Sonics should be twenty four and two
right now.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yes, And yeah, the Oklahoma City Sonics. And that was
a great environment, it really. First of all, Seattle in
June was beautiful and that team going against the Bulls,
the atmosphere was wonderful there. I still have a Seattle
SuperSonics warm up that was given to me and I
(04:50):
have a Seattle SuperSonics basketball where it's got SuperSonics on
the basketball, like branded into it. That the one of
their equipment guys gave it to me. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah, there are some cities where the citizens love the team,
but maybe the local government doesn't love. I get the
sense that Seattle is a place that's.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Like, I don't even know. I don't know if we
need to be in this sports team's business. I know
they've got a few. I get that. I hope they get,
you know, an expansion franchise there and Vegas is gonna happen,
just it's inevitable. And then I wonder, like the timeframe
for this, And I don't have any inside knowledge on this,
(05:35):
but if I'm the commissioner, how do I get Lebron
into ownership and or Steph Curry into ownership that you
keep those big names around the game. And feels like
Lebron is trending towards being an owner. I don't know
about Steph Curry, but you know, Vegas seems like now
(05:59):
that might be yes, Marv, but.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
They still have to put out a really strong product.
Because Michael Jordan was the owner for a decade and
it was horrible.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah, but he wasn't good as you know, picking talent.
I mean he had some of the biggest busts in
NBA history. Adam Morrison was see the second pick overall
at Mike Toggan and Kwame Brown. Was he the number
one overall pick? Correct? Yeah, I mean that's part of
(06:29):
the reason why Mike didn't do well, because you know,
here's the thing. Sometimes guys who are great athletes, great talents,
may not be that good at assessing others who are
trying to be great. You see this sometimes where they
(06:50):
know how to do it, they don't understand how you
don't know how to do it. I'm sure Mike's like,
you know, the Kwame Brown, why aren't you a killer
out there? Why aren't you Koreem or Adam Morrison? Why
aren't you Larry Bird or even Keith Van Horne. Okay
had to go with the white guy, yeah Googliata, Uh yeah,
(07:14):
Google Tom Googlianae.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
So the Seattle SuperSonics left after the seven eight season.
That year they were twenty and sixty two, but Kevin
Durant was a rookie. The next year they go to
Oklahoma City. They draft Russell Westbrook. Do you after that
they add James Harden? Do you after that they're in
the Western Conference finals? Do you after that they're in
the finals. That's what's even more.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Painful any other pole questions there? Todd. Okay, all right,
yes see, I think.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
We're gonna we might as well run one. If you're
Travis kelce you run it back or retire.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Okay, I like that. I mean we might as well.
Let's get into it. Let's do the Travis Kelcey game.
You want to do that, We're gonna do it right now,
right now. I can't. I'm gonna do the Travis Kelcey game,
all right, next September. Travis Kelcey is dot dot Dodd Todd.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Married and no longer playing football.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Seaton in the media in some way, but not playing football.
Man Marvin.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
He's an analyst with his brother. He's still with the Chiefs.
He's an unrestricted free agent. He can give them a
really light deal and help the team out one more run.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
I'm gonna say, married with children, no married, married and
not playing married, not playing like most people were married. Yeah, okay, blue,
middle aged, I'm gonna get that. Yeah. Philip Rivers would
have laughed at that. Yeah, well he's playing lane. Yeah,
(08:50):
he is playing and he's got ten kids, all right?
Eight seven seven three DP show email address DP at
Dan Patrick dot com, Twitter handle a TP show. Kurt
Signetti has won Coach of the Year again, back to back.
It's hard to be back to back coach of the year,
I would think in any sport. But this is what happens.
(09:13):
They were a great story last year, bringing Indiana into
some kind of relevance. They played meaningful games, and he
was a great story coach of the year. Now this
year greater story, number one team Heisman Trophy winner, like
he topped last year's script because I remember Marvin saying,
(09:38):
who's going to be this year's Indiana or last year's
Indiana team this year and it turned out it was Indiana.
How many do you have the list of back to
back coaches of the year in all sports?
Speaker 4 (09:51):
We're looking for it, but in college football it's never happened.
Signette's got two, Like you said, back to back. Brian
Kelly has two. They were separated by seven years. Gary
Patterson of TCU has two. Nick Saban has two. No
back to backs. We're looking at other sports.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Okay, right, we'll get phone calls coming up. June in
Virginia Beach, June.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
Good morning. I call every year at this time because
it's my son's birthday and he has als and this
year he is celebrating his eighth year.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Are you there, Yes, I am, June.
Speaker 8 (10:35):
Okay, he's celebrating eight years of fighting. And it just
so happens that Marty graduated from James Madison in two
thousand and four, so he's very excited about them making
the playoffs. I know that everybody is writing JMU off,
but in our family, we believe in miracles, so we
(10:58):
never know. Want to give a shout out to coach
Bob Chesney. JMU seems to be a great training ground
for college football coaches, and he has been a friend
to Marty since he came to JMU. He's a great coach,
(11:19):
but I can assure you he's an even better man,
and he has great integrity and he teaches far more
than football.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Well, I think we need to give Marty the yearly
shout out for his birthday. Thank you June for calling in.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Speaker 8 (11:46):
Next year, and I'll look forward to calling.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
All right, that's June and Virginia Beach. Brenda in Los Angeles.
Good morning, Brenda, Hey Dan.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
First time, very long time, five nine one Fife. So
today is actually my husband's birthday as well. I always
try to come up with something fun and original to
give him on his birthday, and I figured what better
birthday present than you guys wishing him a happy birthday.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
I can think it with you. I'm sure he can
think of with you.
Speaker 9 (12:21):
So just one more thing. You know, we've been together
seventeen years, maybe thirteen of those, and about a week
into updating is when he had me with you guys
for the first time, and I was instantly hooked. You
all have been a big part of our daily routine
for seventeen years, and no matter how rough of the
time we might be going through, you guys allow us
(12:42):
the ability to disconnect from the world for a few
hours and just listen and laugh. And Dan, there's honestly
no one like you. You mean so much to so
many and honestly you're the best to for do it.
So thank you guys all so much. And if I
can quickly just pass the phone over to my husband
so you guys can wish him.
Speaker 10 (12:59):
A happy birthday, Oh boy, you don't have to do that.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Appreciate you so much.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Dan.
Speaker 10 (13:05):
We're already dreading the day from the day you announced
that retirement. So we're going to just try to.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
Share us as much as we can.
Speaker 10 (13:11):
But happy holidays to all and uh yeah, we love.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
You guys, take care of thank you. And your name
is I'm Jeremy Jeremy.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
One more thing.
Speaker 10 (13:20):
I'm a beat or a D list actor. I got
to work with Will Ferrell once and the one thing
I found boy tomorrow was the day he came in
as Ron Burgundy with the forty ouns outside and Jack Tona.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Yeah, how about a happy birthday, Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy the
other things that Brenda could give you. Happy birthday? All right,
so we'll talk to our g three. He'll join us
coming up in a little bit, and Tony Gonzales and
(13:56):
Reggie Miller will stop by. More phone calls coming up.
Jeremiah love Of is going pro and it feels how
he's going to be a top fifteen pick. And at
least right now now one you know that this is
where people are projecting, but you got to get people
who actually are scouts that get put their hands on him,
where you can go, okay, is what are his measurables?
(14:18):
You know, what's his forty strength wise? Is the you
know the height that he says he you know, all
of these different things that you factor in if you're
going to take somebody, certainly a running back in the
top fifteen. Bed online has a draft position for Jeremiah
Love right now. The over under is eleven and a half,
(14:44):
so the eleventh pick now. The average top spot for
a running back over the last ten years eighteen point six.
The average top spot for a running back over the
last five years is twenty four. I can look back,
you know well. Ashton genty was sixth, Jonathan Brooks was
(15:07):
forty six. In twenty twenty four, Bijon was eighth. Bryce
Hall in twenty twenty two was thirty six, Najie Harris
was twenty four, Clyde Edwards Hilaire was thirty second, Josh
Jacobs in twenty nineteen was twenty fourth, Saquon was second,
Leonard Fournette fourth, and then in twenty sixteen Zeke Elliott
(15:29):
was fourth. Overall. Stat of the Day sad of the
day that past Dad of the day stat of the Day.

after this future, And I've got a future. Just gonna
be the Peacock voiceover guy, and everything's going to sound

when I'm at home with my wife. Good evening, honey,
how are you? What's for dinner? I Love you? Brought

(16:36):
Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Yes, some people pointing out that the poll question right now,
if you're Travis kelcey, do you run it back or retire?
Eighty seven percent? Save retire?
Speaker 9 (16:48):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Is number seven?
Speaker 3 (16:49):
Oh yeah, but he might want a eighty six this
pole question?
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yes, Tom, all right, you're going to have blue for
that one. You're working on your Christmas names, of course. Okay,
I make sure we don't miss out on that, okay.
And I got to get a pie to the face
on Friday. Yeah, I do so. I'll take the pie
of the face for my great Raiders Broncos bet Man
(17:19):
was that close? Yeah? I know if you flip the
standings upside down records all right. RG three is going
to join us. Coming up next. More of your phone
calls as well. Back after this.

More phone calls coming up. I did check with our
resident chef, Dylan he is It's a meat Wednesday, by
the way, and all of a sudden the Dan NNTZ
realized that on the menu was Ribbi steak paninees, and
then we wanted to know if we can move up
the timeframe for having said meal, and I talked to Dylan.
He said that he should be at the top of
(18:34):
the hour be able to whip up some of these
bacon rap No, he's not going to do the file
at Mignon me bacon wrap Fullet Mignon, It's going to
be Ribbi steak paninees. That's it. Then you got to
wait till the end of the show to have the
rest of the menu, all of the meat. Courtesy of
Heartland Steakco dot Com. RG three Robert Griffin Junior, the
(18:55):
Third Fox Analyst, and his podcast Out of Pocket with
our G three. Good to have you back. What took
the NFL so long to push forward and having stricter
standards for playing surfaces? Oh yeah, that is a great question.
I saw.
Speaker 12 (19:13):
I think I saw a graphic the other day of
all the guys that have torn acls or or torn
their achilles this year.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Very very alarming.
Speaker 12 (19:21):
And you know, I think the players want all grass,
you know, they want to move away from the turf,
especially as they get older, and I feel like when
you're like fifteen, sixteen, seventeen year old, there's like this
this want to play on turf, and you got the
turf tape on your arms and it looks cool. And
then when you're like twenty eight, twenty nine, you're like, oh,
my knees, my ankles, then you want to get away
(19:43):
from that turf. So I think the NFL should if
they want to prolong the careers of some of their
older players, because now twenty seven, twenty eight is kind
of getting older in the NFL. At other positions, I
mean our quarterback, they should. They should make them mandate
to have all teams play on grass.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Well, you know, I don't know. You know, Mahomes, I
could see the injury happening and I could understand that,
but Michael Parson's non contact, like those are the ones
that kind of baffle me. It is that the surface
is it shoes? Is? I mean, is there something we're
not factoring in with this, Dan?
Speaker 12 (20:21):
I think it's multiple things, And I'm glad you you
want to have this conversation because you know, when you're
an athlete and you're in the weight room or you're
in a developmental program. The thing that was always said
when I was growing up was bigger, faster, stronger, Right, Well,
the bigger and the faster and the stronger you become,
the more force you're putting into the ground. So if
your shoes, which the shoe companies have kind of gone
(20:45):
towards this boost technology, right, and it almost feels like
you're wobbling sometimes when you walk in those shoes and
they're terrible to cut in, Well, that's also that technology
has also bled into the cleats.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
So I don't know so if the shoes.
Speaker 12 (21:01):
Are as good as they were, but they'll tell you
that they have more traction, you know. So Now if
you have a bigger, faster, stronger athlete like a Micah
Parsons who runs a four to four, probably a four
to three and he's every bit at two hundred and
fifty pounds, and his shoes have more traction on a
surface that is built for traction, you're going to see
(21:22):
more torn acls and more torn achilles. And we're seeing
that across all sports, not just football. Also in basketball,
some of the biggest stars are having injuries that we
didn't necessarily see from the Michael Jordans and the Magic
Johnson's back in the day. So I think it's a
combination of the surface as well as the athletes getting bigger, faster,
(21:43):
and stronger, and it's kind of working against each other.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
But when you go back to that January twenty thirteenth
playoff game against Seattle and you got injured on that surface,
did you sue the Washington did you sue your your
owner at the TI?
Speaker 12 (22:01):
I did not, Dan, Do you have any do you
have any lawyers that.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
It's a statute to limitations up? Because I think it is.
I mean, that's malpractice, isn't it? With a field as
bad as that, I mean, that was embarrassing that field.
Speaker 12 (22:15):
Yeah, and there's so many guys that have been hurt
on that field, and that was that was actually grass
or saying whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
To call it.
Speaker 12 (22:24):
You could you could see the dust flying up everybody
every time people were running fast on that field. So
I didn't you know at that time. I think a
large part of it was it's really hard to sue
the owner or sue the league and still play in
the league. But if there's maybe there's a lawyer out
there who can you know, call back that statute of limitations,
and I probably wouldn't be the only guy that that
(22:45):
would want to, you know, be interested in that, because
there's a difference between just having grass or turf and
really terrible grass and really bad turf. So I think
the league is going to continue to see this happening
when from injury standpoint, and if they don't mandate what
the teams actually have to use and you know what
(23:06):
company they need to use to have the right type
of grass that's going to be the best possible for
the players, You're going to continue to see top level
players go down, and I know the league doesn't want that.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
RG three Fox Football Analyst out of pocket with RG
three his podcast, What advice would you give Micah Parsons
and anybody else who's had a torn shape? You know?
Speaker 12 (23:29):
ACL, Yeah, I mean the number one advice I would
give to Michaeh Parsons and Patrick Mahomes right now is
to not play next year. And it's because of when
they got hurt. They both got hurt in December. You know,
you look at these injuries and we've seen guys come
back in six months, you know, eight months, nine months,
and it would be nine months for both of them
if they were ready to go week one. But you
(23:51):
don't really feel like yourself until about fifteen months after
the injury. And some guys will even tell you, hey,
it took me twenty four months to true feel like
myself again. And don't get me wrong, eighty percent of
Micah Parsons is better than dang. They're almost every pass
rusher in the NFL. Eighty percent of Patrick Mahomes is
better than almost every quarterback in the NFL. But I
(24:12):
look at it from a standpoint because of my own experience,
and these guys aren't me. But I told my ACL
M I LCL the same injury that Patrick Mahomes had
has right now, and I wouldn't have played in twenty thirteen.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
I I if.
Speaker 12 (24:26):
Hindsight, which it is twenty twenty, I wouldn't have played
the following year because I wasn't back to myself yet.
And Mahomes is a guy that runs around, is very creative,
and is a great second reaction quarterback, and he can
play from the pocket. But I would advise them to
not play next year so that when they come back
in twenty seven they can truly and fully be themselves
(24:48):
and it won't knock off years from their career. Now,
I say that knowing very well, Dan, you know, I've
got you know, sources pretty close to the situation there
that that Mahomes is all in for week one, and
we see Mica say that he's all in for week
one as well, And it's because as players, we are
wired to have this gladiator mindset that we can overcome
(25:11):
anything and we're not normal and we're not normal. But
at the same time, I would advise them to sit
out the following season because of when they got hurt,
and then you can play for another ten fifteen years
once you're fully back to health. Do I think that's
what's gonna happen. No, I think they're gonna come back
and they're gonna play week one because that's how we're
(25:31):
wired and the only people that can really protect them
as the teams.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Does it matter that it's the left knee for Mahomes.
Speaker 12 (25:39):
Yeah, so mine was the right, you know, which is
the you know, the hip through knee as they would say,
the left knee. It becomes concerning because now you most
guys will wear a brace on that knee. A lot
of times we get hit offensive linemen. That's the leg
that is straight for the most part. Sometimes when you're
when you're throwing the football, all those shouldn't be you know,
(26:01):
from a full technique standpoint. But I think if it
was the back knee and him pushing off, it would
be more concerning. So I think the left knee makes
it a little bit better, but it also raises the
risk for re injury. Because of the style of play
in the NFL and those big guys falling into you.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
It feels like, Josh Allen, you know, the window is
wide open now because you don't have Mahomes, you don't
have the Chiefs, you don't have your kryptonite. Lamar's probably
not in Burrow, not going to be in as well.
Is it fair to look at Josh Allen and say,
hey man, because I don't think their team is anywhere
near what it's been before, and now we feel like, well,
(26:43):
these quarterbacks aren't in there. Now is your chance to
go to the Super Bowl?
Speaker 12 (26:48):
I think that Josh Allen and you know, Matt Stafford
might be the two guys that most people in the
media or most fans feel the most comfortable with right now.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Turvy League.
Speaker 12 (27:01):
If you ask most people, the average fan, Hey, who
is the best record in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Don't look at your phone, don't go to the standings.
Who is it?
Speaker 12 (27:11):
I promise you they wouldn't say it's a Denver Broncos.
They wouldn't. And that to me makes it to where
if there was ever a year for Josh Allen the
Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl, it would be
this season. All the top guys for the most part,
that you would expect to be there are not there.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Okay, But if Buffalo played Denver in Denver? Yeah, who
you taking? Oh I'm taking Denver?
Speaker 12 (27:36):
Okay, So here and this is a great point, Dan,
you know you're great at this. And people are hoarding
their decision about the Denver Broncos because they don't want
to be wrong about Bonnicks. And to me, that's that's
not how you do the job. Like I was a
(27:56):
big Bonnicks guy. I thought that him and Sean Payton
would be fabulous to get And they're twelve and two
right now in year two and absolutely balling out with
a great defense then an offense that's good enough to
win games. So people have to stop being afraid of
that and just acknowledge what you see in front of you.
The Denver Broncos are the best team in the NFL.
(28:17):
The Seattle Seahawks are one of the best teams in
the NFL. The New England Patriots are one of the
best teams in NFL. And it's not just because of
their records. They're just holding it against their quarterbacks because
they don't know if they believe in Sam Donald in
the playoffs. They don't know if Drake may is real
or not because they haven't seen him do it in
the playoffs. They don't know if bo Nicks is real
or not because they haven't seen him do it in
the playoffs. But this season is shaping up to be
(28:38):
one where we could have one of those three guys
hoisting Lombardi at the end of the season. And I
think that's great for the NFL, and I think some
of the Punnits need to catch up.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Convinced Bengal fans that they shouldn't be worried about Joe Burrow,
Oh no, they should be.
Speaker 12 (28:56):
You can't anytime a guy that's that competitive, the one
who smoking cigars and changed his last name on the
back of his jersey at LSU to Burrow. You know,
the way that Louisiana and spell it that when that
guy comes out and says, man, I don't know if
I love this anymore, Like I gotta find the joy.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
That's a problem.
Speaker 12 (29:16):
And it's also weird because I've heard some people compared
to the Carson Palmer situation. Whereas Carson I believe it
was we had t O and Oho and he was
just like, Yeah, it's kind of tough to deal with
these guys and what's going on in building around me.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Joe's got his guys. I think there's more Andrew Luck
Oh okay, I could see that getting banged up. Luck
was twenty nine when he walked away. Yep. You know
that the psychological there's the physical damage. The psychological damage
is it's hard to rehab the psychological damage of all
the injuries. We can do the physical parts, but the
(29:54):
psychological you know, those scars stay a lot longer.
Speaker 12 (29:58):
And the psychological part that you're opening up there then
is because Joe played so well last year. You know,
sometimes there's a quarterback like team. When your team doesn't
play well and you don't play well, it can kind
of motivate you to be like, all right, let's go
back to the drawing board. Let's figure it out. I
didn't do this great in Boom Boom boom. But when
(30:18):
you go out there and you throw for a gazillion
touchdowns and seven thousand yards and you still lose, and
it's like not close, like you're not close to making
the playoffs, and you're doing that year after year after year,
and then you're getting hurt year after year after year.
That's where I think Joe Burrow is kind of burning
himself out in a way of like he's made enough money,
(30:42):
which I understood why Andrew made the decision that he made.
If Andrew Luck was a fourth round quarterback and didn't
get paid a bunch of money, he probably would have
still been playing. But he was a first round pick
that had signed one hundred million dollar contract and just
was banged up, and he's like, you know what, I've taken.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Care of my family. I've enjoyed this game for a
long time. I'm good.
Speaker 12 (31:02):
And I could understand why Joe Burrow would be in
that position. But I think if you're any of those
guys on that team, don't even worry about the owners
ownership and the GM and the head coach. Just the players.
Do you want Joe Burrow to be your quarterback? Because
if you do, I'm taking them a seventeen stag Dinners
over the next seventeen days. And I'm trying to convince
(31:23):
him like, hey man, I know this is tough, but
we need you. And I think that's the only thing
that'll get Joe Burrow back into it, because the guy's
in that locker room, you know, really putting their arms
around him and say we got you back.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Man. This just came in. The Dolphins are going to
bench to us and they're going to start quinn Ewers. Wow,
what kind of statement is this?
Speaker 10 (31:48):
Now?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I know, all right, we can see what quinn Ewers
can do. Why not let him see what? But when
you bench a guy who's healthy in a big contract,
you got him for another year? Are the Dolphins moving
on from Tua by making this decision? I think I
(32:10):
love quinn Ewers, Don't get me wrong.
Speaker 12 (32:13):
I believe that Mike McDaniels put himself in a situation
that if quinn Ewers doesn't go out and absolutely bowl out,
that they will move on from him. And it's because
of the contract You've got Tua. Tongue of Aloe, who's
got what two hundred million dollar contract?
Speaker 2 (32:30):
I think they're on the hook for, you know whatever,
fifty million next year. Correct.
Speaker 12 (32:35):
So you're as a head coach now saying I don't
want this guy, you know, and that to me puts
you in a very pecurious situation as a head coach.
When you make those types of decisions, you have to
be right. And the question you have to ask if
you're a fan of the Miami Dolphins, is is Quinn
yours the guy to make that decision? For I thought
(32:57):
he handled himself well at Texas. I've had him on
our show Out of Pock with RG three. He is
a god fearing, great young man who probably shouldn't have
fell in the draft as far as he did.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
But are you that confident as.
Speaker 12 (33:10):
The coach that Quinn Ewers is the guy that I'm
gonna move forward with because I'm benching to a tongue
of Ayola? Or are you saying we're gonna go drafting
to the quarterback next year and we're gonna pay two
it to get out of here in the same way
that the Broncos did to Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Yeah, but I don't know if Mike McDaniel is going
to be back next year, So if you have a
better chance of ensuring that if you play Tua right.
It feels like, I, well, that's.
Speaker 12 (33:38):
He's put He's putting himself on the plank and saying
Quinn Owers.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Is gonna save my job. That's what he That's what
he's saying.
Speaker 12 (33:46):
And and and I think that's a bad I think
to a tongue of Iolaa should still be the starting quarterback.
And I think that Mike McDaniels just putting himself in
the wall against the wall in the corner. And if
Quinn Ewers doesn't go out there and win the rest
of these games, he's gonna be gone.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Great to talk to you, great stuff today, Happy holidays,
Appreciate you guys. May Christmas come up. Robert Griffin Junior
third is mclovin now Griffith. Mclovin called him Robert Griffith
Junior third out of pocket with RG three that podcast.
That was some great stuff from him today. We'll take
a break. More phone calls coming up. Busy final hour,
(34:21):
Tony Gonzalez will stop by and Reggie Miller We're back
after this.
Speaker 1 (34:25):

Speaker 2 (34:37):
We're having a meet Wednesday because the Heartland Steak co
folks sent us a gift package and this is what
you can get right to your doorstep. You want to
give it to clients, co workers, whatever it might be.
And so Dylan is out there and all of a sudden,
one item caught the Dan nets I and that was
(34:58):
the Ribbi steak pins and we thought, well, maybe we
could get those ready at the top of this hour
coming up, as opposed to waiting another hour to the
end of the show. So I have my rapid radio
here and I can talk to the chef, Dylan. Can
we get those paninies ready in about ten minutes?
Speaker 9 (35:20):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:21):
Hey, Dan, how you're doing? The chef?
Speaker 2 (35:23):
I am, but I wanted to make sure that I
got in touch with you.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Well, and that is yours is actually on the press
right now.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Dell Onions learned that the hard way, and.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
I'll be ready for.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
You next breaking Okay, but I don't want to screw
up the schedule with the other things. The Bacon wrapped
fla mignon that Fritzy wants, the pork chop, millonaise, and
the cream corn. All of those will be ready at
the end of the show.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Correct, we're actually in good sheep for once.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
But you're not. Maybe maybe he didn't get the joke.
Were in good shape?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Light and respond.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Okay, okay, thank you, Dylan. We'll see you in ten minutes.
I have a camera out there, keep an eye. I
have cameras all over the place so I can keep
an eye on everybody around here.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Yeah, Paul, When I was a little boy, I always
dreamed that there will be a magic walkie talking that
you could press and then the other end of man
would bring you plates full of hot.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Meat to eat. Yeah, that's that's my rapid radios. Rapid radios.
All right, a couple of phone calls in here. How
about Austin and Louisiana. Hi, Austin, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Okay, DP, amen, thanks for calling me back. Yeah, you know,
I got a little stay in your lane for Joel
clad today.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
You know.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
He he says the most unfair tournament is the March
Madness Tournament. And he's probably right, Dan, because obviously The
most fair way to pick tournament participants would be to
put twelve sixty year old in a ramada in meeting room,
serve them some buffet food, have them watch monitors, and
come up with the bowl. Right. I mean, that's obviously
(37:09):
the correct way. You know, I really don't get these
guys who claim they love college football and they don't
care about half the teams to play the sport. It
doesn't you know, it doesn't really make sense to me.
And the last thing I'll ask you, Dan, is when
was the last time an eight seed won the March
Madness Tournament.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Uh, let's see Villanova, were they innate seed when they
beat Georgetown NC State? Jim Valvano Yeah, Paulie, Yeah, I
see what the caller's saying.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
But Joe Klatt's saying in basketball, there's a difference in physicality.
Like a team could have a hot shooting night UNBC
and take down a one seed in Virginia that I
don't know if that can happen with like a sixteen
seed in college football taking down Georgia.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Well, okay, everybody points to the Boise State Oklahoma Bowl game,
the Fiesta Bowl. Keep this in mind, having been there,
at the game. Boise State had everything to play for.
Oklahoma had nothing to play for. I don't think Oklahoma.
There's certain bowl games that I watch of this the
older days, where one team was thrilled to be there,
(38:27):
another team couldn't care less. You know, guys didn't sit
out of bowl games, but they kind of went through
the motions in bowl games. And I always felt that way.
I bring up Wyoming played Ucla in a bowl game,
and when I tuned in and watched that, I said,
in the first quarter, almost the first five minutes, I said, Wyoming,
(38:47):
this is the most important thing to Wyoming, and Ucla
couldn't care less. And I think Wyoming ended up winning
that bowl game. There it's difficult to have this and
say James Madison is better than Notre Dame, which they're not,
or Tulane is better than Notre Dame, which they're not.
I understand that maybe when we get to sixteen, then
(39:11):
we're going to get you know, twelve or thirteen of
the best football teams in America. And Pauli's right that
there are times when somebody just plays lights out. You know,
Villanova played the perfect game to beat Georgetown. They had
a perfect shooting night, Harold Jensen, wasn't that the guy
(39:33):
that lighting them up? But in football it's kind of
hard to go. Like in hockey, you can have a
goalie who plays unbelievable and you can pull off an
upset like the miracle on ice, but you know, with
college football, it'll be tough to have a Cinderella story. Yeah, poem.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
By the way, that bowl game you mentioned, I was
curious the Las Vegas Bowl December twenty two, thousand and four,
Wyoming twenty four, Ucla twenty one, Wyoming's first bowl victory
since nineteen sixty six.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
And I remember I wasn't betting back then, but I
would have bet everything on Wyoming that day, watching them
be like they this is so important, and UCLA is like,
all right, we're in a bowl game. What do we do?
We get a disc player?
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Yes, Marvin, And I'm sure the TV networks and the
stadiums that hold these games they don't want to see
James Madison or Tulane, Like, we got to fill this stadium,
we have to get our sponsorship.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Yeah, but this is a home game for Oregon, so
this helps. Oh yeah, yeah, but this is a neutral
site that's when you'd get the true test of you know,
the football fan who wants to go and watch that game? Right?
Speaker 7 (40:44):
I remember when Ukon went to think the Fiesta Bowl
and played Oklahoma. You com football lost money, Like people
in Connecticut. They weren't trying to go to Arizona to
watch them get killed by the Sooners.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Yeah, they lost a couple of million dollars going to
a bowl game. Like they give you this this alley,
they allocate certain number of tickets and then you're like, uh,
you got to sell those tickets. Uh what if we can't,
you got to eat them. Final hour on the way
once again, the Dolphins are going with Quinn yours, Quin
(41:15):
yours to a tongue of Iloa benched. Was it the
coach who made the decision? Was it ownership that made
the decision. We'll talk about that with Tony Gonzalez next
hour and Regg Miller will stop by final Hour this Wednesday,
