Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's our two on this Tuesday, Dan and the Dance
Dan Patrick Show spent the first hour laying blame at
the feed of the New York Jets Aaron Rodgers. Twenty
two penalties called in that game, Bills hold off the
Jets twenty three to twenty and the Jets now dropped
to two to four. Guardians at the Yankees Game two,

(00:27):
Yankees beat the Guardians five to two. Last night in
Game one, Mets beat the Dodgers seven to three. That
series tied up at a game of peace. We'll talk
to Devin mccordy, NBC Sports and a former Super Bowl
champ with the Patriots. He was on the call with
Westwood one Radio last night with the Bills and the
Jets eight seven to seven to three. DP Show email

those watching on Peacock. Thank you for downloading the app
and our radio affiliates around the country. iHeartRadio, Fox Sports Radio,
Seaton Poll. Question from our one, what are we going
to go with in hour two?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
The Jets panic meter, or the panicometer as it's being
called right now is. According to our audience, forty percent
have it as oh crap, followed very closely by full
blown chaos. It could be worse and it's not over yet.
Got about twenty five percent of the vote between them.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Not great.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
They could have won last night. They could have They
should have won last night. They should have what's the
poll question for hour two?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Well, I was going to do something off of, sort
of the suggestion Paul had earlier. Should NFL officials have
a limited number of flags to throw? No, that's ridiculous
or yes?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Please? Well, after last night, I think it's ridiculous, but
I would be in favor of it. Got an update
from Diana Russini. The Jets have given Hassan Reddick and
his reps a short window to seek a trade. Well,
that didn't last long. With trying to negotiate, New agent
Drew Rosenhaus has been reaching out to teams over the

(02:03):
last twelve hours to gauge interest. Well, how about you
call the Lions? That would be what I would do,
all right. Stat of the Day brought to you by

on the call last night with Kevin Harlan, Westwood One Radio,
Bills and the Jets. Time to panic If you're a
Jets fan.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
No need to panic.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
But I think everything that went on last week, I
think it would have been a good thing for this
team to go out and get a win just because
you fire your head coach. Everything is going on, and
they compete in and played well enough to win. Two
miss field goals, penalties all night. Kind of the Jets
overall this season.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Okay, what are the Jets missing? If you were going
to try to pinpoint one or two things.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
It's hard to say, because this team, they've played well
enough to win. I think it starts with just having
an understanding situational football. You do everything right, and then
it comes to the time to make the place. I
always say, overall, they needed better coaching and better execution
in the key moments of the game. It's not like
young guys or rookies making mistakes. Some of these guys

(03:32):
making mistakes are veteran players that they're counting on.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Twenty two penalties. I mean, it just feels like win
in doubt, throw a flag. Is that the feeling you
got last night watching this?

Speaker 5 (03:47):
Yeah, I'll pro football talk this morning. I told Mike
Florio the thing that kept me up all night is
I kept hearing the sound of the ball hitting the
upright on the field goal posts and then whistles. It
just seemed like every time there was a play, there
was a three whistles at the end to stop it
and let everybody know there was a flag down. But
what I will say is the officials called the game consistently.

(04:08):
They were calling it tight, and they did it all.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Night for both sides.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
So it was really up to Buffalo and the Jets
to adjust their game and kind of do business as
business was being done, not to continue to play the
same way and rack up penalties.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
But are you okay with that? They are gonna call everything?
But you know they're gonna call everything.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
Yeah, I've always felt like that. When I was a player,
we used to talk about that. Every time we had
a game in New England. Coach Belichick would come in.
He would tell us who the head official was. He
would tell us what were the penalties that that crew
kind of focused on, whether it was offensive holding, defensive,
pass interference, all those different things. And then the last
thing he would tell us is, no matter what.

Speaker 6 (04:49):
I tell you, the game will get decided.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
It'll be dictated.

Speaker 5 (04:53):
We need to do businesses, businesses being done, pay attention
to how they're calling it on both sides of the ball,
and then adjust how you playing. Don't just keep doing
the same thing and then get mad at the referees.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Would Aaron Rodgers scare you as a defensive back if
you were playing against him.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Oh, no doubt about it.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
I think every week we've watched him, it seems like
there's one or two throws that he makes that you say, yep,
that like that's what Aaron Rodgers were used to. And
I thought last night he was pretty good all night,
throwing the ball where only the receiver should catch it.
It wasn't a perfect game plan, but you know, they
were a few plays away from easily winning that game.
He finds Garret Wilson in the back of the end zone.

(05:32):
Taylor rat makes a big hit on him, but then
he threw an absolute dime to Garret Wilson. That ended
up being a touchdown, so he still can do a
lot of effective things out out there on the field
as a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Feels like, if you're a defensive player, you want to
keep Josh Allen in the pocket because once he gets out,
once he rolls right, I'm like, uh oh, somebody's gonna pay.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
And think about that.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
Dan like, he rolls right, he's a few yards from
the sideline, throws it to Ray Davis two yard game.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Unbelievable play.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
But the player of the day probably is him rolling
left where it looks like Clemens has him. He gets
out of that, rolls left, swings his body back around
and finds Dawson knocks in the end zone. It's just
it's so hard to stop and you try to keep
him in the pocket, and then you come to find
out the last play, really last play of the game
for them, it's supposed to be a pass to the

(06:22):
right to Tye Johnson. He decides to keep it and
just outrun everybody to the left. Phenomenal player. I just
love watching him play.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
To tackle him not fun, not fun guy.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
He can run around you, he can run over you,
and as I found out, one year.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
He could also jump over you.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
So his athletic ability and what he can do as
a player, it's just NonStop pressure on the defense, running
and throwing the ball. Unbelievable guy.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
So he made his highlight reel?

Speaker 6 (06:52):
Uh possibly possibly?

Speaker 5 (06:53):
I like to I like to take pride, and I
didn't make a lot of highlight reels.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
But hopefully he.

Speaker 5 (06:59):
Makes an enough great plays that that one kind of
falls off the list.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
But you picked him off before, haven't you.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
Yeah, So no matter what, if he plays a highlight
around me, I will bring up that I picked him
off a couple of times.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
So they give everybody who wins the Super Bowl. So
you got your Super Bowl trophies behind you, they give
you a replica of the super Bowl trophy.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
They don't give you, but there's places you can go
and get a replica, and a lot of us got them.
So my wife finally finished my office. Will help me
finish my office. So I was last on a priority list.
So here they are now after you know about a year.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Okay, let's go around the room. Let's take a guess
how much the replica Super Bowl trophies cost. Do we
just want to do a combined total price of what
they cost? Do you want to do that? Todd? How
much do you think the three Super Bowl trophies? The
replicas behind him cost.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
Three and seventy five dollars?

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Oh? Okay, all right? Seating?

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Did we say each or ALTI guys?

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Combined, I'm gonna say seven hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Seven fifty dollars. Okay. They're not made out of illuminum foil.
Marvin five thousand dollars, yeah, PAULI, they.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
Look legit heavy. Bass. I'm gonna go twenty five hundred
bucks for three.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I'm gonna go h forty five hundred dollars.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
I don't remember the exact number, but whatever, the three thousand,
that was the closest to the price it was.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
It was about thirty five hundred.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Did Brady have to pay for his?

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Probably not, Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I highly got it.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
I had to pay for mine.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
A couple of guys did, but I doubt Tom did.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
What did you think of Drake May with your patriots?

Speaker 5 (08:50):
I thought Drake and May got off to a good start,
you know, I think everyone had a lot to say
about starting him now, especially against Houston and their defense
and their pass rush, but he showed always he got
through adversity, got hit pretty good amount Sunday, But you know,
he made some throws in the game, and I think
the whole New England region is excited going forward knowing
they got Drake May.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Is there one thing that all rookie quarterbacks do that
like there's a tell or how they call the game
what they see staring down receivers. Is there one thing
that comes to mind for you?

Speaker 5 (09:24):
I used to say there were two things usually staring
down receivers, and a lot of times with these young
athletic quarterbacks, there's gonna be a lot of what we
call move the pocket plays that get them outside whether
they either could run or throw the ball. But I
have to say these rookies this year, they haven't always
looked like rookies. They've done some things at a high
level and has been fun to watch, especially you look

(09:47):
at Jaden Daniels and Caleb Williams, and I know Caleb
Williams got off to a little rocky start, but when
it's moving, these guys look like veterans out there.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Was it you or your brother who was not aware
of the Beatles?

Speaker 4 (10:00):
That was Jason, That was Jason, how is.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
That possible?

Speaker 5 (10:06):
He definitely knows who the Beatles are. But I have
to say, growing up in our household, we didn't have
a lot of Beatles songs playing in the household. We
had a lot of Jackson five's and different things like that,
but not a lot of Beatles.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
What else would you have besides the Jackson five?

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Mom?

Speaker 5 (10:24):
My mom played all different type of R and B
gospel music. So we had the Commodorees, we had the Temptations.
We had all of those growing up. You know, Saturday
Sunday mornings, either getting ready for church or cleaning the house,
my mom would have those always playing in the house.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Great to talk to you as always, great job, continue
to do that and thanks for joining us.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Appreciate you.

Speaker 8 (10:49):
Dan.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
That's Devin Mccording NBC Football Night in America studio analyst
and was working on the call last night Westwood one
Radio with Kevin Harlan. How do you think that sounded
last night with Kevin Harlan on the call?

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Time?

Speaker 9 (11:03):
Another missfield goaling. The Jets are crashing two and four.
They will not catch up to the Bills in the East.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (11:11):
This is the NFL.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Yeah, I was waiting for that the signature punchline there.
I still love your Kevin Harlan NBA because it's usually
first quarter when you hear.

Speaker 9 (11:27):
The Bucks are on an eleven six run in Minnesota.
Want to talk about it?

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Miss?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Is the NBA on TNT. I was watching a little
bit of basketball last night, watching, you know, seventy six ers.
There are times when you just you're watching something and
you go, what am I doing? But you know, I

(11:53):
don't know. I just did a drive by and I'm like,
all right, let me watch a little bit here. And
then Paul George got banged up. I guess he hyper
extended his knee second quarter of last night's game against
Atlanta and playing in his second game for the Sixers.
He signed that four year Supermax deal. And I guess

(12:15):
Joel Embiid, it was reported, will not be playing back
to back games this season. Marvin, did you see that?

Speaker 4 (12:25):
I did Taylor's old as time?

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yes, dang, Paulie, what's the NFL news?

Speaker 7 (12:32):
We're gonna play the guess the NFL news game? Okay,
I would say it's.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Major, major NFL news game. Let me go first, Ty,
do you want to go first?

Speaker 11 (12:44):
The Jets are reshuffling their coaching staff.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Again, Seaton, you want to play No, no, the Lions
have traded for Oh, okay, okay, all right, uh, Marvin.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Something with DeVante Adams.

Speaker 7 (13:08):
Marvin is correct.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
DeVante Adams has been traded.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
DeVante Adams been traded two the New York Jets, who
according to Ian Rapaport, the Jets gave up a fourth
round pick that could be a second round pick based
on performance latest one minute ago. The deal is agreed to,
according to Ian Rappaport. Okay, it's again, he's updating it
as we speak. A conditional third round pick goes to

(13:34):
the Raiders that become a second round pick. Ianport says
that DeVante Adams is on his way to the Jets, okay, immediately.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
All right, and he'll be an action against Pittsburgh, another
team that was trying to get him coming up on
Sunday night.

Speaker 7 (13:49):
All right.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
I hope DeVante Adams is worth all of this because
if not, then, uh, you know you you start to
look at the bigger picture here with him and Rogers
moving into next season. Like the high the high highs
could be unbelievable, but if they go low and it

(14:12):
doesn't work out. Then all of a sudden, you're going
to be like, all right, we fired our coach, we
brought in your favorite wide receiver. Maybe it's you.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Yeah, seen, it's funny he's going from a two and
fourteen to a two and fourteen.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yes, yeah, yes, mart.

Speaker 12 (14:27):
If you're the Jets going into next season, do you
make a big splash at head coach?

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Well, once again, is this an attractive job? I got
to see how they play the rest of the season
because you still have that owner. I got Rogers, who's
what forty one turning forty one? He hasn't shown that.
I mean, he looked good last night. He just doesn't

(14:52):
look like a Hall of Famer, And you know, maybe
we have to lower our expectations there. But I don't
know if this is an attractive job. It's like Jacksonville.
I don't think it's an attractive job when it's open.
Because of Trevor Lawrence, he's regressed. I got to make
sure that I have that franchise quarterback. If let's say

(15:14):
you're Belichick, let's say you're Vrabel, are you going to
go into a situation where you're kind of going to
have a lame duck quarterback, maybe playing for one more year.
I wouldn't lint that. We'll take a break, We'll get
to more phone calls, and uh, we'll update you any
other information on DeVante Adams being traded to the Jets.

(15:34):
We're back after this.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
A conditional third round pick going to the Raiders that
can become a second rounder based on performance by DeVante
Adams first reported by Ian Rappaport as Davante Adams is
headed to the Jets. I was told all along that
the best they were going to get is a second
round pick. It's a conditional third that could be a

(16:12):
second for Davonte Adams. And I don't know if last
night's result changed anything with their approach or aggressiveness in
trying to get him, because it doesn't sound like you're
giving up an awful lot for Davonte Adams. I know
that the Raiders were holding out more compensation. Also, they
weren't going to pay any of his salary. So just

(16:34):
some of the background information here with Davante Adams. At
least you know the tug a war of who was
going to get him? What did you have to give up?
What were the Raiders willing to take in return? So
conditional pick and he'll be headed to New York and
be in uniform Sunday night when the Jets play the
Steelers in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
Guest Paul, we have a bit more. According to Diana
Rassini of the Athletic Davante Adams is in the Jets
building as we speak.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Well, that was quick, Yeah, that was quick flank commercial. Yeah,
I guess not probably not well that.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
That would infer, insinuate, infer.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Whatever, indicate that maybe he was there last night.

Speaker 7 (17:16):
Or this was pending last night and it's just announced today.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Well, I don't think he was going to be playing
again for the Raiders, so it's not like they were going.
Anybody's seen Devonte.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
I bet that hamstrings all better.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Oh, I'm sure somehow. That's why when you know somebody's well,
he's got to get that amstring ready, I go. I
think it's probably ready. Uh, probably be a lot readier
when he gets to New York, a lot better. Actually, yes,
you're asking you know, I got out of Vegas. You
know that dry heat. I'm feeling a lot better, feeling
Hammy's feeling a lot better.

Speaker 8 (17:46):
You know.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I got Aaron throwing it to me. I feel a
lot better than Aiden or Gardner minshew. Yes, if you're
Devonte Adams, do you just rent a house? Do you
just stay in a hotel?

Speaker 3 (17:57):
I stayed with Rogers, do you I mean you're going
to buy a place for the next couple of months,
So do you just like jump into a hotel?

Speaker 2 (18:07):
I I just say to Aaron, let me crash your
your crib. I mean that's probably what I would start,
or at least I would ask. That should have been
part of the negotiation. You know, I get to stay
with Aaron, Yes, yes, marm.

Speaker 12 (18:21):
I mean he's got a wife and kids. Do you
just tell them he just stay in.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Your time you go to the city. Yeah, I'll be
all right.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Yeah, Aaron's got a ball or place in Jersey too.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I would expect that.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, it's sick, Yeah, I checked it.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
It's got a guest bedroom. It's two bedrooms, two baths,
so yeah, enough room.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't be buying anything. I don't need
to there are guys who they haven't been in certain
cities for a long time and they still have houses.
And usually what you try to do is when you
leave a city, you go, hey, the new quarterback's coming in.
You want to stay at my place in Bay trying

(19:02):
to offload some of these houses there. But Davante Adams
is going to the Jets. What's his salary this year?

Speaker 7 (19:10):
Deavonte Adams will make I have him just under twelve
million dollars and the Raiders will probably have paid a
third of that. The Jets would pick up about eight million,
at least on paper. There's an out after this year
if the Jets did not want to keep him. But
if they kept him, they ow him thirty five million
next year, thirty five million a year after.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Ooo, he's not a thirty five million dollars a year guy. No,
he's not.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Just ask him.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah he's not. He's not in that category anymore.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Yes, what are we doing with Max Crosby?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
He's untouchable?

Speaker 3 (19:48):
What are we doing?

Speaker 7 (19:49):
No?

Speaker 3 (19:49):
He needs to be.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Well, that's if I'm the Lions, I go, we will
give you a first and second round pick right now today. Yeah,
that's it. First second round pick, for Max Crosby.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
And if you're Max Crosby, you're calling the Raiders. That's saying,
do me favorite, Please pick up the phone, so anybody
calls for me, just do me a favorite answer.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Did he play college in Michigan?

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Did he like, uh, Eastern Michigan, Michigan Eagles, I believe, yeah, Okay,
back to Michigan question mark, Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 7 (20:24):
Yeah, Eastern Michigan EMU. If you're is this kind of
like the Jalen Ramsey trade with the Rams years ago,
Like he's available, best guy in the market, don't worry
about the price and the draft two years from now.
If you're the Lions, well.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
They famously said bleep draft picks. You know that. Sean
mcvabe's like, no, we don't need them. We want to
win a super Bowl. And I think your fan base
is fine with that. Like if you say, all right,
we're going to get a super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Out of this.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
But if I'm a Lions fan, you want a first
second round pick, go, we want to bring Max Crosby
in because then all of a sudden, you've got everybody's
attention because you know, as a fan base, you just
want your team to do something like the Cowboys, do something.
The Lions, can you do something? At least try to

(21:12):
do something. The Jets, they fired their coach, they have
a new signal caller, and now you bring in Devonte Adams.
So I at least I applaud you you're trying. I
wouldn't have fired Robert Sala. I wouldn't. I don't think
he was the problem. I don't think he was a
head coach. But I wouldn't have fired him. I mean
it's almost unprecedented you fire somebody after five games. And

(21:36):
I would have kept him in and I would have
demoted Nathaniel Hackett and then I would have traded for
Devonte Adams. So I don't know. Can they do anything else?
I think they're good. Now you're ready to go. You
should be ready to go. Two good running backs, you
got two really good wide receivers. Now it's Aaron Rodgers.

(21:59):
Defense plays like they're supposed to be. If they're a
top ten, top five defense, you should be really really good.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yes, But like Robert Sala, he was twenty and thirty
six with the team. Yeah, you kind of saw what
you saw from him.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
I wouldn't have brought him back this year.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Yeah, you're not fired him. It's not that you wouldn't
have fired him, right, you would have fired him earlier.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I just if you're making the
commitment to him, then make the commitment to him, and
you know, after five games you're like, oh, we've seen enough. Okay.
I wouldn't have brought him back if he was on
that short of a leash, I wouldn't have brought him back.
But I think they were trying to say, hey, let's
give him a full season with Aaron Rodgers and see
what he can do. I just never thought he was

(22:40):
a head coach. He didn't act like a head coach.
It's like Nick Ciriani, he didn't act like a head coach.

Speaker 7 (22:47):
He did.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
I wonder if Matt do you think ownership said to
the Eagles head coach, he you might want to apologize
yelling at our fans, because if you can yell at
the other team fans gas even then you're you're head
coach in the NFL and you're talking to Jimmy Lipper
in you know, section four oh two. What are you doing?

(23:11):
It's not like you dominated the game. You squeaked by
the Browns at home that's right. Yeah, that's right. There's
there's more of that where that came from.

Speaker 7 (23:22):
We'll beat you by seven next time.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Yeah, we owned you. Yeah, scoreboard. Uh, I'm sure ownership said, uh, hey,
won't you have an apology there? Yeah? How about you
leave your kids at home this time with your apology people?
Although you know, uh, Ross Tucker said that he does

(23:45):
bring his kids up on the podium, so it wasn't
just after that game. I don't follow Nick Sirianni postgame,
but he did have one of his kids up there,
and neigh were saying, oh, he's using his son as
a shield there, and then Ross goes. They'll say whatever
they want in Philadelphia to Nick Siriani, doesn't matter if
his son's sitting there.

Speaker 7 (24:05):
Yes, Paulie, remember last hour, you were a little surprised
that the Jets Steelers line was Jets favored by one
right around.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
There one and a half.

Speaker 7 (24:13):
My guy Montreal, Max in Vegas says he thinks that
the Jets line with Steelers was being affected by the
Devonte Adams rumors, and the Jets over under total has
already gone from thirty six and a half to thirty
seven and a half since the trade m So it's
gone up a point.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Wow, it's going to be a crazy shootout. Now it
was going to be a shootout. Now it's going to
be a crazy shootout, big twelve game. Yeah, I can't
wait for the Thursday gambling podcast. By the way, BA
bad Larry is nine and oh on his picks this week.
He sent so, he sends a video. He's drunk and

(24:51):
he's calling me out for some reason. I'm just the
host of the gambling show. But bad Larry has gone
nine and o this week on the gambling podcast. Shayan
Irving probably not as well. And then there's Dylan, and
Dylan's pretty generic as well. But yeah, wow one and

(25:11):
a half? Is it still Jets by one and a
half over the Steelers? Has the line changed because the
over under went up a point? But I'm wondering if
this is going up to two points here instead of
one and a half?

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Yes, Martin, does their total win.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Eight and a half?

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Eleven and a half?

Speaker 2 (25:28):
You said no, No, I would say the over under
would be nine and a half.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
So DeVante gives you one more game, yeah, so they
should be really mad.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
He should give you. He should give you more than
that I'm going to expect Rogers to give me more
than one game, so Adams may give us one more
Rogers with Adams should give us maybe two more wins.
That's what I would hope. So maybe if they get
to ten wins, they can get in the playoffs. Nine

(26:02):
not gonna do it. Yes, if you're just.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Looking at the Jets offense now though, right and you
have Aaron Rodgers, Bresee Hall, Alan Lazard, Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams,
Tyler Conklin. If it's not working, if you're not putting
points up on the board, you've got to imagine that

(26:27):
old Nate Hackett's going to be feeling the.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Oh he's been putting a corner. He gave him time out.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah yeah, yeah, I've Alwa's already been demoted or whatever.
But it's still like, guys, look at who How can
somebody not figure this out?

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Please?

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Can somebody please figure this out?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
If they can't figure this out, that somebody's going to
lose their job, what are we doing? Somebody else is
going to lose their job? Mid seats? What are we doing?

Speaker 4 (26:58):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (26:59):
How many more people can fire right now?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (27:01):
Paulie one of the topic I wanted to bring up
is that if I'm a superstar wide receiver in the
NFL on his way to the Hall of Fame with
a great career, I want to rethink going to the
Raiders midway through my career DeVante Adams did. It didn't
work out. Remember what happened to Randy Moss the two
years They made Randy Moss look like a decent wide
receiver for two years. Yeah, and then he went to

(27:22):
the Patriots and was unreal. I don't know, man, they
may be underrated for futility, okay, but.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
What are the Raiders doing right that? I guess that
would be the question. Because you bring in Adams, they
had Josh Jacobs, Derek Carr, whether you thought he was
a franchise quarterback, Max Crosby, and now it's a rebuild.
I mean that that didn't take long. It's over. But

(27:50):
you know they did go out and go, Okay, we
got our quarterback, we got our wide receiver, we got
a running back, and we got our edge rusher. Now
they're on a rebuild. It's it's done, yes, yeah, Pully.

Speaker 7 (28:04):
And Max Crosby's contract, he has thirty million this year
twenty eight the year after twenty four of the year
after they can get out after this year, or they
could trade him now and get some value from him.
If they're rebuilding, like you said, it makes sense go
to send him to Detroit. It's like remember that years
ago when they traded Sam Bradford to the Vikings. Vikings

(28:26):
lost Teddy Bridgewater and the Vikings were had to adjust.
If I'm the Raiders, I take advantage of the Detroit
right now.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Oh absolutely, get it first in a second and blow
it up. Jason in North Carolina, Hi, Jason, good.

Speaker 13 (28:43):
Morning, first time, long time five. They swallowed two hundred pounds.
I'll call him going to the Aiden Hutchinson injury. He
basically Raid Kate Cowboys player. If you look at MMA,
there's been a lot of injuries like that from lad Kate,
Connor mcgrie, Anderson Silver, Chris Widman and then of them
have really ever been in their prime again recovering from

(29:05):
that type of injury. So I think that might be
why Dan Campbell had so much concern his voice talking
about or he'd be the player he wants again.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Well, I don't want him to put more pressure on
Aiden Hutchinson to go. Hey, if anybody can do this, like,
just let him heal with that. He broke his leg,
he broke his tibia. I don't want to give any
kind of encouragement there because now you know your your
reporter's going to ask constantly, Hey, any update on Aiden

(29:33):
Hudgson or he's going to be asked. Just let him heal.
They say four to six months, then it's probably closer
to six months, not four months there, And I think
that's the that's the only part of it. Yeah, I
could hear it in his voice. I just don't. I
don't want to have him dangle this carrot like, hey,
if anybody can do this, Aiden Hutchinson will go through

(29:56):
rehab as if he's trying to come back this year.
That's the way they I mean, they attack it that way.
I don't think he's going to attack You can't rehabit
any differently. Where you go, I'm going to double rehab like,
it doesn't work that way. Certain things that you do
at certain times for a certain period of time. That's it.

(30:19):
Unless you're Jack Youngblood or Carroll Owens and you're playing
with a broken leg in the super Bowl. All right,
we're going to take a break. We're going to head
out to Jets camp. Brian Costello, the Jets beat writer
for the New York Post, will join us. Says DeVante
Adams is a new member of the Jets. We're back
after this.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
NFL network broke the news that the Raiders are trading
all Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the Jets for
a twenty twenty five conditional third round pick that can
become a second round pick based on performance. The Athletic
is reporting that Davante Adams is already in the Jets
building now. They've also given pass rusher Hassan Reddick a

(31:12):
short window to seek a trade. There's a lot of
drama around a team that's two and four to bring in.
Brian Costello, the Jets beat reporter for the New York Post. Well,
here we are again, more drama. When do you think
they decided to make this move for Devonte Adams.

Speaker 10 (31:30):
Well, it's been a long time coming, Dan, you know,
I mean they were tired, They were trying to get
him last year and the Raiders didn't want to trade
him last year. Then they fired their GM and coach
at the trading deadlines, and there was rumors this this offseason.
You know, Rogers at the Gosworn in Lake Tahoe said
he can't wait to play with Davante again.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
That sparked it.

Speaker 10 (31:48):
So that's been it coming for a while, and you know,
a few weeks ago when Adams requested the trade.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
The Jets have been in this for a while.

Speaker 10 (31:53):
But I do think, you know, last night's game probably
up the urgency a little bit to get this.

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Done and push it us to finish line.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
But if it's true that he's already in the building,
he probably had an idea that this was happening during
the game last night.

Speaker 10 (32:09):
Yeah, I would think so. I'm curious about when he
when he came into Jersey. But you know, it soundly
like the Jets were the only team that was realistic
for a trade. They were the they were the leaders
all along, so I think they must have known they
were close, and then they got it done fine, you know,
finalized this morning.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
What if the Jets had won last night, I still.

Speaker 10 (32:28):
I think it still gets done, you know, I think
they they felt like all along they had to do this.
You know, the offense has been struggling for weeks. Clearly
the quarterback wanted this, and he usually gets what he wants.
So you know, like I said, this has been a
long time coming. So I do think you know, when
when they lost the game last night and the way
they lost and Mike Williams, you know, Rogers called him

(32:50):
out after the game for not running round, I walked
out of the building going, I bet DeVonta Adams is
here tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
It just felt that way.

Speaker 10 (32:57):
But in reality, I do think this has been in
the world for a long time. And you know, these
trades get done on Mondays and Tuesdays in the league,
and it's it's you know, the Jets were playing yesterday,
so it wasn't gonna get done yesterday. So I do
think it was all signs were pointing to it happening
today anyway. But you know, I do think maybe they
pushed it across the finish line because the last.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Night, What are your expectations now with this team?

Speaker 6 (33:23):
I honestly don't think this changes a lot. Damn.

Speaker 10 (33:26):
I mean, I know he's a good receiver, but he's
thirty one years old. You know, I think he makes
the offense slightly better, but I'm not sure he helped
stop the run. You know, they this is now two
times this season there's been a running back who I
no idea who he was, came out and ran all
over the Jets, you know, the rookie from Buffalo last night,
and then Jordan Mason in Week one for San Francisco

(33:48):
ran all over them. So I think that's a problem.
I think the offensive line is still shaky. You know,
Rogers got hit a lot again last night. You know,
DeVante helps that, and and I really think what they
could use Dan is someone who could stretch the and
that's not Adams at this point. He's more of a
precise route runner. Where he does help is these fourth
quarter situations. We've now seen three straight weeks the Jets

(34:08):
could have won the game in the fourth quarter and didn't.
Two straight weeks where there was a pass to Mike
Williams at the end of the game where he didn't
look like he knew the ball was coming to him
or they were on the same page and it got intercepted.
Those balls are now going to go to Devonte Adams,
so I'm curious how this invist Garrett Wilson too, Dan,
That's gonna be something wrong.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yes, I agree. I immediately thought of Garrett Wilson, just
because it always seems like him and Rodgers aren't exactly
on the same page. But Aaron knows he has to
rely on him. Did you hear Belichick on the Manning
Cast talking about Woody Johnson last night?

Speaker 6 (34:41):
I did.

Speaker 10 (34:41):
I think that puts any thoughts of Belichick ever coaching
the Jets to ret so I was happy for that.
I would have to change that story in January, but yeah,
I mean clearly, Like, look, when Belichick talks about two
thousand and I resigned as HI the NYJ you know,
he talks about the ownership situation, and that was when
Woody was taking over wood He was not yet the owner,

(35:02):
but he was in the process of becoming the owner.
And Belichick always refers to the ownership situation as the
reason he left. So he's been clear of his thoughts
about Woody Johnson for a long time.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
I think make the call right now, playoffs or no playoffs.

Speaker 6 (35:16):
Playoffs.

Speaker 10 (35:17):
I think this team is going to go ten and
seven day and I thought that from the beginning of
the year. I still think it. You know, they've had
a bad stretch here, but if you look down the schedule,
if you guys call up the schedule later for the Jets,
there are winnable games on the schedule. They've had a
couple tough ones coming up in the next like two
out of the next three Texans, Steelers, sandwiched around the Patriots,
but there are games where that they can win in

(35:38):
November and December, and I think they'll still go ten
and seven.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Great to talk to you again, Brian. Thank you. Next week, Dan,
Next week, yeah, Max Crosby comes to the Jets there.
Brian Costello, Jets beat reporter for the New York Post.
The next game will be Sunday night against the Steelers,
and prior to the trade, the Jets were favored by
one and a half. I don't know if that's going

(36:03):
to go up or not. The over under went up
a point when they got DeVante Adams. Wow Blake in
New Orleans, Hi, Blake, what's on your mind today? Hey?

Speaker 8 (36:13):
Good morning, Dan.

Speaker 13 (36:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (36:15):
I was telling him on the Wold that this morning,
you guys were perplexed by that line and looking back
now knowing what we know now that it looks like
maybe the boys in the Desert knew something that we
didn't know this morning.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Yeah, I think that's we're getting that sense now that
maybe this was agreed to in principle, and of course
the Raiders being in Las Vegas, maybe somebody got a
heads up on something here. But the Steelers are underdogs
at home on Sunday night. All right, time to play
the man? Did Blank need a game like that? It's

(36:49):
Week two of Man? Did Blank need a game like that? PAULI?

Speaker 7 (36:56):
Yeah, Dan, it could be college football, it could be
pro football, it could be any sport you like. It
could be a man or woman. It could be a coach,
it could be refereeach, but someone who really needed to
have a great day.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
I'll go first.

Speaker 7 (37:09):
Man, did Brian Kelly, the head coach of the LSU Tigers,
need a game like that? National TV? Old, Miss, You're
on the cusp of being a playoff team now. The
LSU Tigers are five and one and kind of control
their own destiny. Man, did Brian Kelly need a game
like that?

Speaker 4 (37:25):
Okay?

Speaker 11 (37:26):
Todd, I went with the Bengals as a whole needed
a game like that because.

Speaker 7 (37:31):
It's man, did man?

Speaker 4 (37:33):
Did the Bengals need to have a game like that?

Speaker 11 (37:36):
Because they could have been one and five and now
they're two and four, still have a lot of work
to do, But that would have been a disaster on
national TV if they would have lost at the gun.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Like the Jeopardy if you'll have to analyze, if ye
have a question, Cincinnati Bank Seaton? Man, did Blank need
a game like that?

Speaker 12 (37:54):
Man?

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Did Spencer Rattler need a game like that? Look at
that fella coming out of nowhere two hundred and forty
three yards touch on? He had two interceptions, but I
thought he played pretty well.

Speaker 7 (38:03):
Okay, well structured?

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Yeah? Why not?

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Marvin man Comma, did James Franklin need a win like that?
We need a game like that?

Speaker 2 (38:11):
Okay, yep, yep, big.

Speaker 12 (38:13):
Big conference win when you think of the Big Ten,
you think of USC Penn State.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
They needed a big win on the road.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Man. Did Sean McDermott need a game like that last night?

Speaker 4 (38:27):
With it?

Speaker 7 (38:27):
I think that's the whole game.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Yeah, because they had lost two in a row, and
then if they lost three in a row and they
lost the Jets and then all of a sudden, then
people would be saying, is he on the hot seat?
So he needed a game like that? And he got
it with Josh Allen. Yes, Martin, is he off the
hot seat? I don't know. I have no idea. It's
getting colder in Buffalo, so I don't know.

Speaker 7 (38:47):
Yeah, yes, Bony, we could also play someday the converse
of this, man, blank, sure didn't need a night like that,
day like that. We could play that down the road.
I don't want to put too much on you.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah, that's such Yeah, that'd be harder too.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
So that game is going to be somebody had a
bad day and we're going to say, man, he sure
didn't need that day, And.

Speaker 7 (39:05):
It could be he didn't need a game like that.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
You gotta lead with Ryan Day didn't need a day
like that?

Speaker 7 (39:12):
Oa right itself?

Speaker 4 (39:14):
Okay, yep, yeah, better day, Ryan.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
But I don't know if anybody needs a day like that,
Like if you say, man, he didn't need a day
like that.

Speaker 7 (39:23):
But like it's it was bad and it's worse. Like
here's another example, the NFL refs didn't need a night
like that because people are already banging on the refs
and then the national TV disaster.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
It's like when you know a quarterback throws an interception. Man,
he'd like to have that one back. I like, really,
he would like to have that back.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
Crazy gonna be playing the sarcasm ball.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah, Sarkas ball whatever, yeah, whatever that was that he said?

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Scar camera ball?

Speaker 2 (39:54):
S Yeah, Sarcasta ball. Is that what it is?

Speaker 4 (40:00):
Castaball okay.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. Alex
in Utah. Hey Alex, Hey, how's it going guys?

Speaker 14 (40:11):
Hey? So just a quick sorry, belated best and worst
of the weekend. The best of the weekend for me
was our overtime, our Utah Hockey Club overtime win against
New York to start off the season three and now
now I'm like you, guys, I try every year, I
try to get into hockey, but now we've got a

(40:32):
game here in Utah, so I think this will be
my year. My worst, though, are the sweaters or the
uniforms of the team. I don't know if you guys
have looked at them, but if you ever have need,
like since kind of sleep aid, just pull up your phone,
google them, put you to sleep in like five minutes.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
There right Thank you, Alex. I don't know, I was
kind of okay with them. Always helps when you win.
