Dan Patrick. But search over Promise. We appreciate it. Thanks
for hanging out with us. We're gonna be broadcasting live
from Atlanta during the MLB All Star festivities. We got
the most votes, man, we made it. Guys. I want
to thank you Foxbody, thank you Fox Sports Radio Nation.
But we're gonna be filming in for Dan Patrick that
(00:46):

(01:09):
for Dan Patrick. Join us. You never know who's gonna
stop by and between us. Our whole goal is to
get on TV somehow, like Beavis and butthead. If it's behind,
you know, an interview going on. We just want to
get on TV. During the home run derby, we're gonna
be bushwhacking like Luke and Butch every time a ball,
every time a ball's hit in our direction, we'll be dancing.
(01:33):
So look out for Cavino and Rich representing the Fox
Sports Radio Nation again. I'm Steve Covino. That is Dicky
Doodle Davis, Rich Davis in the flesh. We got super
producer Danny g He's got the smoothest, most buttery voice
in all the radio land.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
And we got the Iowa Sands. Yeah, I'm getting ready
for some tacos. Bro, don't hit me on my tacos.
And we got Iowa Sam on the Glockenspiel spots on
the videos at Covino and Rich. Sam is our resident
Fever fan. And that's sort of what we're getting at
(02:11):
right now. Because there was a bad take. Oh, it
was bad. It was bad. Pee wee. By the way,
I was as we're filling for Dan Patrick. I'm trying
to think doing man crushing Candy? No on your phone?
Did the episode are yet of the DP show on
Family Feud? Or is that today?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I saw photos of when they taped it, so I
don't know when it the.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Dan Patrick Show, Marvin and Fritzy and all the guys
they competed against Rich Eisen and his crew, And I
feel like, just find me when it airs, because I
wanted to make sure we watch it, but also, you know,
give it some love. We are filling in for dp
JA and I feel like Cavino, I would definitely choose
(02:53):
you to do Fast Money, just because I know you
love those anxious moments. Thirty seconds on the board. I
don't know if I need that pressure. Steve Harvey and
his big mustache. His mustache is distracting, so so I'm
no longer distracted by that. Back to the hot takes. Yeah,
thanks man, you just had about four or five minutes
to find that information. Now Danny g is looking through
(03:14):
the TV guide, so something's still printed. I don't know. Yeah.
Michael Lindon's on the cover Little House new season coming.
Gary Colvin's on this week's cover. Yeah, different on Thursdays
that Philip Drummond or Peter Gammon's on the cover. I
can't tell who knows. So who's your favorite TV Dad,
Tony Danza or Alan Thick. Carolyn Peck via Sports Center,
(03:37):
Carolyn Peck says, and we quote, I think the Indiana
Fever She says, Indiana. I think Indiana is even more
dangerous when Caitlyn Clark doesn't play. That's Carolyn Peck on
the Fever's play while Clark has been injured. Yeah, I
think you know what I think, guys, I think the
(03:58):
Chiefs are better without Mahome. What do you think? Yeah,
I don't know. Look, I get it. It's a it's
a wild one. I think okayse was probably better off
if SGA was not playing. Okay, So we went to
our buddy Elias at the Sports Bureau, who's basically Sam
who pulled up this information. The Fever are five and
(04:18):
four with Clark in the lineup. This year, with Clark
five and four, she's missed ten games, including the Cup
title game, due to injuries. Her season average is eighteen
point two points, eight point nine assists, five rebounds, one
point six steals. And do I understand what she's saying. Yeah,
(04:42):
that when she's not there, the team is still a
challenging team, and maybe they're playing tougher and filling in
the gaps and overcompensating for the loss of Caitlin Clark.
People band together, poop. Yeah, but people band together and like,
all right, ready this I'll give you a great example.
(05:02):
Let's say Rich comes down with the black lung. Right, Okay,
so Rich calls up, which, by the way, is rare,
but this happens. Could you know I can't make it today?
You can't make it today. I've been doing a show
you twenty years. You know what we do. We band
together even stronger. And I say, Danny g Sam spot,
(05:23):
we're minus a key cog in this system right here,
Rich Davis, he said, Scott, I said cog, you know,
because you're a major part of the wheel. Right even
though you're a blabbermouth, you do talk a lot and
that's a big part of what we do. All right, guys,
So minus Rich, now we got to bring it extra.
Who's got ideas we're gonna bring it? You know what
(05:45):
I mean? Like, you pulled together tighter, and sometimes you
become a better team as a result. That's not a
knock on you, rich, But when you're not here, yo, man,
we're in a different zone because they are. Like Danny
G's pulling extra weight, he's extra tuned in. I'm counting
an Iowa, Sam, I'm part. I'm pointing at him like
a maestro. Spotty's there chiming in. We're working on a
different level because we're minus you. You see what I'm saying.
(06:07):
So to pretend like I don't understand what she's implying
here would be false. So is it the worst take ever?
Kind of want? But I do understand what she's saying.
Because sometimes, all right, I'll give you another example. When
the Red Sox got rid of no Mark garcia Para.
This is a famous story. To really change the culture
(06:29):
of that team, you had to get rid of the
main guy, and they became a better team as a result.
Sometimes that best person, you know, is what's in the
way of the team bonding in a different and winning way.
Sometimes this this is without Garciapara, what they do want
(06:49):
to But that's that's that's a culture. Lazy star, get
that last of a coffee. Come on, let's say, hey,
some Morning Show, Bro. I'm just trying to provide the atmosphere.
You know. I'm okay with people surfing a coffee. Some
people are offended by that. I feel like, get that
last sip, milkshakes, coffee, get it anyway, It's nonsense, and
(07:09):
I'll give you my example. If you want to play example, well, no, no, no,
I agree with you, Rich, I do. But if we're
gonna have a full on, fair conversation, we have to
explore or all angles, right, and that's why we open
it up to you. Eight seven seven ninety nine out Fox.
I can't wait to hear what Sam has to say
about this, the Fever being a better team or could
be a tougher team without Kaitlin Clark? Is that just hogwash?
(07:33):
Or could there be some truth to that hogwash? Which
is what I used in the shower this morning.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Good.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
This is the equivalent of when I'll even say this
to your team. Let's say Aaron Judge is on the
IL for a couple of weeks and they bring up,
I don't know, Todd Finkelberg from you know, Triple A,
and he bats four hundred and the Yankees go, you know,
nine in one. During that stretch and there are gonna
(08:01):
be idiotic fans that are like the team's clicking better.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Without them, you could have Paul schemes, Paul Skeans, could
have shoulder soreness, miss a couple starts and uh, you know,
Tom Dinkleman will come in and they be like Man's
spots starts, get.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Out of here. You always want you to start the
star player does. It makes other people lazy because other
people are relying on the star player to always come in.
Aaron Judge, for example, right, hey man, Aaron Judge. He's
the He's the guy that's gonna bring in the runs.
Everyone could just dilly dally throughout the game because Aaron
Judge is there. He's the hero. He's the guy that's
(08:38):
got to come through. But you take him out of
the lineup, now everyone's scrambling like, oh, man, I guess
we gotta step up. Such as life if you guys
are traveling in packs. This is a weird, random example,
but it's what we do as a show. We travel
a lot, right, you know a lot of times Spot
is leading the way. Come on, guys, we got to
go to Gate seven B, right, so he's leading the
(09:00):
way doing his thing. If he's not there, you think
I walk around like I don't know what's going on,
or someone else steps up. If you take Spot out
of the mix, you think I'm a lost little puppy. No, no,
because you're missing the point. The point is now everyone
else has to step up and they become leaders and
they fill in the gap that's not there. That's what
(09:21):
she's saying. And I do understand that. And without Caitlyn Clark,
they're a five hundred team. They're five and five without
Caitlyn Clark. So again, I don't agree with missus peck here,
but I do understand. I can't pretend like I don't
understand what she's saying. It's uh, I mean, I might
as well give you a one last example and then
(09:42):
we'll take your feedback. If you're a dad, and let's
say you and your wife, you know you share responsibilities
around the house. There are times where a lot of
wives out there, I think, assume that if they weren't there,
their husband want to know how to get dressed or eat,
and it's like he he would. No, Dad has the space,
(10:05):
the place spotless and clean, Like Dad is running it
in a different way and he's like less I go.
I almost because he steps up. I almost hate it
because I feel arrogant about it. But there are times
where my wife's like, she's gonna be okay if I
go out for a girl's brunch. By the time my
wife gets back, I've cleaned up the whole house. The
kids were like bathed and ready for bedtime. And I'm like, yeah,
(10:27):
I just know she gets home and your face down
the pool. Yeah, but that's that's what she thinks. I
think a lot of wives think, like they're gonna come
home and uh, you know, there's gonna be a frying
pan on fire, the kids are gonna be running around
like naked, and you know there's gonna be dirt on
the floor. Like, people step up. People make you a
better team because when it because when it's the Indiana
(10:53):
Fever with Caitlyn clarkas the Caitlyn Clark Show, and people
are protecting her and defending her and it's all about
her and what she does, they might be a better
team with that team without her. I guess, is she
the biggest star in the league. Is she incredible? Yeah,
I'm just trying to make sense to what she's saying
Carolyn Peck again.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
To that point code, sometimes supporting role players will watch
stand and watch the star player a little bit.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, instead of you know, stepping up. So again, she says,
I think Indiana is even more dangerous when Caitlyn Clark
doesn't play. And you could say that's the worst take ever,
or you could be fair and say, well, at least
I understand what she's saying, and both could be true.
I think it's not true, but I also understand what
she's saying. Iowa, Sam, you're the resident fan. What do
(11:41):
you think they're smack in the middle of the WNBA standings.
They're nine and nine as Yeah, they're nine and nine
as we speak again, they're five and five without Caitlyn Clark.
Are they a better team? Like, when you hear this,
what do you think you know? I don't.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
I don't hate caren pex take that much that she's
Are they a more dangerous team?
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (12:05):
They can be. It's in a mixed bag. With Kaylen
Clark on the court and without her on the court.
They've without her, they've beaten some really good teams, including
the Links in Minneapolis during the for the Commissioner's Cup,
they've also had some terrible losses without Kaitlyn Clark to
the La Sparks. And then they've also had bad losses
with Kaylyn Clark in the lineup because she's shooting poorly,
probably because of her groin injury.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
I hear everything you're saying, and let's let's get away
from the bad takes side of it for a second
and say, when a star player like a Caitlyn Clark,
if the team seems to, you know, be productive without her,
is it a situation where like maybe the fever isn't
(12:46):
the right fit for her then, meaning Kaylyn Clark, Yeah,
maybe maybe maybe the supporting cast. If the supporting cast
seems to fill in the blanks pretty well without her,
and she's a star, maybe maybe what a Clark brings
could be used on a better on a different team.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
Like I think that what it's what their results right
now are showing is that they've put better players around her.
They've had people like Kelsey Mitchell and Ari McDonald. I
think that's how you said Ari come in and they
step in and they've they've done an admirable job. The
team just functions differently. Chripotle worker like Eliah Boston was
a number one overall pick the year prior so she
(13:23):
she's been amazing in the paint, double doubles. The team's
been stepping up. They're just different, they play differently. They've
had some confounding losses without Kaitlyn Clark and they've had
some really incredible wins without her. And then when Kaitlyn
Clark's fully healthy, like against the Liberty a couple weeks ago,
and they were undefeated coming in, they they ripped, you know,
they blew the doors off of them.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Plus she was great. You know what the teammates want
to do, and it's sort of unspoken, but they all
feel the same way. They want to show everybody watching
and their coach and the WNBA that you know, we're
just as good as her and we could win without her.
So they step up, even if it's subconscious, they're stepping
(14:03):
up to prove that we don't need her. Everybody knows
she's the biggest star, but we don't need her to win.
It's a team game. It's a team game. And I
get that, and you feel that in life. You feel
that when you said when your wife leaves, Hey, that
was the night Dad stepped up and made stakems for me.
Mom's not around. The house is not going to fall apart,
and in fact it might function a little better.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
Now let's get to the really juicy layer of this.
What's the bad takes? You guys, we're at home sitting
on your couch and they're like, why did I say
that on the radio earlier today?
Speaker 2 (14:35):
That's that's the question eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox.
I think we've all had bad takes on like you
know this song's gonna be the biggest, or you know
this artist is gonna blow up?
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Or TV commercials with Drew Ski where they're reminding him
about all his bad NBA takes.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
I got a funny story that immediately comes to mind,
and it's about Rich. Because I'm great, I don't, I don't.
I can't think of one thing I I really failed
on when it came to bathakes the greatest guy, but Rich.
I remember he came in for real, like four days
in a row. This is in the early two thousands, Jesus,
I know where you're in the early two thousands. He
came into work the four days in a row with
a shirt that said rule on it, and it was
(15:16):
it wasn't r U l E Are you l E?
It was like r U e h E L or
something right, Rule.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
It was h U l E.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yes, it was spelled weird. There was an h there, right,
And we're like, what the hell is that? You been
wearing a forty four different shirts that say rule? He goes, yeah,
I got like an inside scoop, Like what's the inside scoop?
Like this is the next big thing. We mean, the
next big thing. He's like, yeah, pretty much everything that rules.
He's like he was trying to tell me that it
(15:49):
was the next big Brandy or Supreme. So he came
in for another two weeks with like it's like he
got a free shipment of rual T shirts and sweat shirts.
In every photo from that era though, right, like all
of our interviews for that good six month span, Rich
just ruled the world because every photo we took he
(16:10):
was wearing a shirt that said rule, because Rich swore
by it. When I ruled the world, and it was
grand Grand, let me explain, you're the only guy that ruled.
I was Sam At the time. I was probably like
twenty seven, twenty eight years old, right, maybe even twenty six.
I was I was in my twenties, so you knew better. No,
So let me explain Danny. At the time, you remember
(16:32):
the rage of Arab like Abercrombie and Hollister and all that,
right rule at the time, you guys, I still want
to tell the story. I was still defense, right, let
me explain you knuckleheads. At the time, Danny g Abercrombie
was deemed so like a college kid brand, right. They
(16:54):
had an offshoot, which was it was supposed to be
like if you've graduated from abercrom and you're like twenty
five to thirty, it was there like more like sophisticated
brand when you are still a d bag. You want
to wear a better clothes if you want to be
their student, if you want to be like a twenty
five to thirty year old d bag instead of a
college d bag. A little less cologne this time. Yeah,
(17:17):
it was body spread. It was Abercrombie's like a more
adult version. Is it really owned by Abercrombie though? And
I remember an ex girlfriend of mine was like, I
think you'll I think it's going to be a big thing.
And I believed there and I really did. Comito's right,
I was like, yeah, rule, this is going to be
the big deal. He stocked up on it. Man, he
(17:39):
was like the number one customer. So he was way
wrong about that because I never heard of it ever again.
And when we look back, I'm telling you Rich was like, man,
he really ruled that. I'll give you. I'll give you
a bad take because I saw it recently. It came
up on my Facebook feed or my Instagram feed of
on this day, like the anniversary. It was the anniversary
of me posting on Instagram a still shot of Trey
(18:04):
Lance when the forty nine ers drafted him number three,
and it was like a video on a post of
me being like, yeah, maybe the future's here forty nine
Ers Trey Lance. I was so excited about Trey Lance.
I was like I remember thinking like, no, Mac Jones, no,
this go with Trey Lance. I was so sold that
while he was unproven, both would have been h you know, like,
(18:24):
while yeah, while unproven, at the time, I would saying
I thought like, man, the Niners must have an inside
look at this guy's athleticism. I'm like, Trey Lance is
the future. Well, we're surrounded by these bad takes because
we live in a world of people pretending like they're
clairvoyant and fortune tellers when it comes to sports, instead
of just saying here's what I think. You could be
(18:46):
adamant and passionate about what I think. And because you
know nothing, you don't know anything. You're not a fortune teller.
But this happens every week for me when we're talking
fights every week, and I try to make it clear,
like my heart says this, but my head says something else.
Because you're still a fan, right, I mean, you don't
think Just last week, I was like, man, if Chavez
(19:06):
Junior shows up in shape, dude, I think he's got it, bro,
and he looks like he's in good shake, and then
he comes up, he doesn't throw a punch until the
seventh round, and I'm sitting there like, damn, now, I
was way wrong.
Speaker 4 (19:18):
As far as social media for you, Covino, I saw
listeners over the fourth of July weekend still giving you
a hard time about your barbecue grill picture.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Oh that's that's that's just the weakest picture of my life.
Kevino's take was, this is a cool barbecue, and it
was like two hot dogs on a broccoli fied. I
posted the wrong thing, man I get. I get destroyed
every holiday because real quick, I'll explain the story. I
just happened to post a picture of my grill one time.
It wasn't even a picture of my grill. I sent
(19:48):
a little video of my Fourth of July barbecue. Do
you remember when boomerangs were a thing? Yeah, you do,
like a three second video, but it would just repeat
it hoppy holidays. And my grill happened to be in
the shot, and someone still framed and screenshot my grill.
And I had like the weakest setup going on. I
had four broccoli florettes florets and two pieces of portion
(20:10):
control man, ashamed of you. You know, I was cooking
a lunch for my daughter. He had a flimsy piece
of chicken, but then he had two hot dogs perpendicular.
She was she has a toddler at the time. And then,
you know, I still have to deal with this criticism
of look at what I think a barbecue is. So
your worst, take your worst opinion ever, will take your feedback.
(20:30):
Who is the one speaking of my forty nine ers?
It wasn't melk Kuiper, It wasn't Trent Dilferd. Who is
who I know?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Someone came out, well, I think mel Kuiper said he
thought JaMarcus Russell was going to be one of the greats.
If I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Yeah, no, I mean mel Kuiper, by the nature of
his job, I don't feel bad for him because he sings.
I but that's also the nature of the beast and
business we work nature more outlandishting you say, the more
I saw, more track actually gets on social media. I
think Rich was headed towards the Kaepernick take. Yeah, someone
(21:05):
it was an analyst that said Colin Kaepernick would end
up being It was Green Bay quarterback quarterback in the
early eighties. Uh, oh my god, I'm drawing a blank. Jaworski,
Oh jaws. He said that Colin Kaepernick was gonna be
(21:27):
the greatest quarterback in NFL history when all of a
sudden done. I remember him saying he had Yeah. I
mean he had some good moments when he was running
like a gazelle and took the forty nine ers to
the Super Bowl. I guess you could say that it
looked like his trajectory was nice. It just sort of
all fell apart. But listen, we've with mel Kiper. I
(21:48):
take him out of this conversation because you're right, Big Sam,
Big Sam. You're right, big swings, big misses. Sometimes when
you're when you're the guy who works the draft every year,
he gonna say some stuff that doesn't hit.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Yeah. Twenty thirteen, Jaws says Kaepernick could be one of
the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
In his defense, he could always say, yeah, man, he
could have been if he didn't get in his own
way and blah blah blah. You know, he can always
defend that. We have bad takes. It could be a
bad purchase and this this is gonna be the uh,
the greatest purchase I ever made. And it was a
hunk of crap is because you were high watching an
infomercial so you bought it. It could be a player
(22:28):
you invested in. It could be a fantasy draft pick,
it could be anything. But for me, like I said,
it's always it's always fights because you never know, you
don't know until it happens. That's why we tune into sports.
I always I see, I always look back, and I
think we could do this with all our friends. Your
friends always had like their favorite Randall player on their team,
and that player ended up stinking like Yo, for a
(22:52):
good year. Plus Covino was like, yo, Nasty nestor bro
now nasty nest and that he had a great year
that first year. He really came into his own on
the Yankees. Now he's on the Brewers, correct, but he
ended up blowing the World Series for you guys. He
was never the same, but like there was a while
where Cavino was like nasty nestriemember I came in with
a mustache just because I remember this way. The Yankees
(23:15):
as an organization, you could say, are getting a lot
of criticism because they put all their eggs in the
Anthony Volpi basket and the guy's last and everything. Now
I am a fan of the guy. I still believe
in him, but that is the if you follow social
media at all, they're burying Anthony Volpi because is that
really his dad in the stands. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, yeah,
(23:35):
his his dad was defending him against Mets fans in fact. Yeah,
So again the Yankees take saying he'd be the next
Derek Jeter not yeah, all right, Well, Heykevin on Ritch
your weakest takes ever. Plus there's a story about cruise ships.
I just want to touch on real quick and virgins.
(23:55):
I mean, how can I get more fun here? In
for Dan Patrick, your buds could and Rich.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Okay, cool, who's on the cover of TV guy Tony
Dancer coming up this Thursday. Nice, Well, it's our pleasure
to be in for the great Dan Patrick. And I
know what you're thinking. Cn R again, what the helly? Yup?
That's the other way he speaking of Tony Danza, do
you say Judith Light recently she looks fantastic? Angela Mona
(25:46):
Janet did Angela Angela? She does? She looks great. Live
from the Fox Sports Radio studio, Covino and Rich are
you still driving that trust the old ride? Keep it
looking sharp with Mako from dense to faded paint. We've
got you covered. Get a free estimate today. Uh oh,
better get Mako now. A lot still to get to
(26:09):
on the show. But we were talking about the worst
takes ever. It was it was about time we finally
talked about the reporter and analyst who said, remember when
I said crocs will never work because they're the ugliest
shoe ever.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
You know what, that is a good one before you
get to the case. That's not a wrong take. It
just somehow in spite of that.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
I remember I was wrong because I was like, no
one will ever wear these ridiculous things unless total loser. Well,
but you know the whole point of the movie Ideocracy,
I mean, Idiocracy is an old movie that a lot
of us have seen. At that time, they said, what
would morons in the future where if we've lost all
intelligence and they came up with the like they all
wore crocs. They needed like a cheap shoe for you know,
(26:52):
we made fun of them for years cause you know,
when I used to have bets, I was sam, we'd
be like, yo, if the if the Yankees or Mets lose,
you got to wear crocs to work. And now that's
like most people are like, yeah, okay, cool, Like there
was a time where it was embarrassing. Now CrOx it's
the uniform of the official Alpaca boys that in pajama bottoms,
pajama bottoms, tank top and cocoliyheads. Did you look in
(27:15):
the mirror before leaving for the day, Oh my goodness,
you didn't. By the way, who did this Caitlin Clark take? Again,
I said analytics.
Speaker 6 (27:22):
She's an analyst coach Carolyn Peck, who actually won the
last national title for the Big Ten, not counting the
new additions for Purdue in ninety nine, so she definitely
knows what she's talking about.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Again, let me quote Carolyn Peck. I think Indiana is
even more dangerous when Caitlin Clark doesn't play. So again,
the quick and immediate response is worst take ever, And
it just might be, but you have to pause for
a second. They at least try to understand what she's
saying here, which we explained to the best of our abilities.
(27:53):
But it got us thinking about worst takes and the
dumbest things you felt were and the stupidest things you
believed and taking your phone calls wrapping it up now
worst takes for you know, there's a lot of people
that had really bad takes on like n f t
s over the last couple of years. That was that
was a quote bad take. But let's go to who's
(28:16):
this Neamyah, Neamia and so cal what's up?
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Hey, how's it going? Guys?
Speaker 2 (28:22):
What's up? Neamiah? You should have sort of look on
Rich's face when you saw your name. The wheels were
turning so hard. Yeah, everybody, I was gonna say. I
was like, it's not Jeremiah is an inner dialogue.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
Was Yeah, Neamyah even spelled it for me, so.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I looked. I was like, Never, that's got so nervous.
Speaker 7 (28:43):
With the name again.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Never, what's up buddy.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
You guys should have seen me at Starbucks. They always
think I'm using a fake name.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Oh that's great. That must be an adventure every time.
That's funny every time.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Man. But I wanted to give you guys one of
the worst takes from our guy, Colin Coward. You know,
back when Ben Simmons was coming out of college, he
told Lebron to go ahead and retire and got it
from here.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, we know that's that's always touchy, but that's a
because we work with the guy, right, But that's when
I see often on social media. Yeah see that one. Well,
you know what I love about Colin is that you
just keep moving along and I don't just kiss ask
because he's our coworker. But Colin's great. I've being like, yeah,
I had a bad take, Let's move along to the
next one like the harp bottom is ridiculous because we
(29:35):
all have them. Like last year, Danny, we talked about
how everyone's in the process right now of making their
NFL predictions for twenty twenty five the USA today. There
is somewhere, somewhere out there, there was a sports writer
that said the Jets were gonna win the Super Bowl
last year Packers. And you know what, every year, every
host here and producer on Fox Sports, at the beginning
(29:58):
of the season does their AFC, NFC champion, super Bowl winner.
They're out on a limb, crazy take their MVP. And
you know it's wild when you look at at the
end of the season because you're like, yo, ninety nine
percent of us were so wrong.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Yeah, I'm thinking about some of the takes on our network,
Samuel remember this, Remember when Jason Smith had people's minds
just going crazy. Everyone was going crazy when he said
that Steph Curry was just a good game manager.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Oh yeah, there's been this network some bad Steph Curry takes. Yeah,
like Ben Simmons earlier and uh yeah, Patrick mahomes up,
Andy Reid should be fired. Yeah, but that was a
recent crazy after the Super Bowl take the.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
More attention you get for it for whatever reason, so
you get more of that than ever before because people
love dumb things. I'll be honest.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
I think some of the hosts believe it, though, because
I think a lot of listeners are like, oh, they
don't believe that. They're just trying to get people up.
But some of these takes hosts actually believe.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
I don't know if I necessarily don't believe my takes.
I just don't really care if I'm wrong, because I
realize we're all like, if everyone was right, dude, we'd
all be professional gamblers, right. I mean like at any
time on any given day, you you know, you're watching
Thursday night football, You're like, you know, Panther Saints tonight. Yeah,
fifty percent of the betting audience is wrong otherwise, you
(31:27):
know what I'm saying the way, you know, a lot
of people wonder how Rich and I got to this point,
So do I a lot of times right filling in
for Dan Patrick question. But we started off like most
people do, in just regular radio, playing music. And I
remember one guy coming into a music meeting. This is
another classic example of mine. And this is no knock
(31:48):
to the band because they're a good band. But I
remember the sales pitch and like, these guys, I'm telling
you got to play them on your radio station. Is
kay Rock New York at the time, the next Guns
and Roses? You hear me, and he's like, look at it.
I was a nobody from Nowhereville. He's like, you like
Guns and Roses. I'm like yeah, He's like, they're the
(32:09):
next Guns and Rose He's telling everybody, and he was
playing Buck Cherry and Buck Cherry had they had a
good career, a good career, and I love their hits,
but hey, crazy, yeah so good. I love lit Up
and that was a great song. I'm sorry. I love
some of their songs, but the next Guns and Roses,
I don't know about that. You know. So you hear
(32:29):
a lot of that in life, people just over selling,
people just saying things for impact, and a lot of
times they should be held accountable. And I think we're
seeing a little more of that in sports, like hey,
what about uh would you say about the Jets winning
the Super Bowl Again? I think we all realized that
every every game, every fight, every event is going to
(32:52):
have a wrong take because people are arguing both sides
of it. Every time. Every time there's a panel, how
many times have you I've seen a meme the next
day where like the Monday night football team all picks
the same team to win and that team loses and
the panel was zero for seven.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
You mean how the entire ESPN panel did not pick
the Pacers? Remember?
Speaker 8 (33:15):
Yeah, every single I think it was like twenty two
of them all got it wrong. To advance, Danny, I'll
give you one more and then we'll move on. I
can guarantee if you if you've even searched a little bit,
which we don't need to do, but I'm sure show
heo Tani. There were people like this guy is gonna
be a bust or even when the Dodgers gave him money,
like waste of money.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
He's he's toast, He's there. I guess may out there
for sure. Yeah, they were probably people that are like,
oh Tani stinks or or he won't be able to
do it. Well, just simply think about how many people
were drafted in front of Aaron Judd. Pitching and hitting
won't translate in this league. Yeah, this won't happen. So
sure you know week ass takes we all have him
the end now, I want to talk about something that
(33:57):
is probably a good Oh.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
By the way, that was Keith Oberman who whiffed badly
on Otani back in the day.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Yeah, that was the famous one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
For a lot of us, this is a conversation that's
a good twenty thirty forty years away the word retirement.
Some of us will never retire, some will probably, Some
people will work till they die because they have to,
and others will because they just want to keep working
because a lot of times you feel like when you
stop working, you just die. Are you talking about Sharon Lane.
(34:31):
There's a woman that has a retirement plan that I
think is wild and it's and it's not the cool
like I'm gonna go catch every Major League Baseball stadium, which,
by the way, I think is a cool retirement plan.
So there's a woman that has an idea and I
want to run by you guys, because I first I'm
like what, And the more I think about it, I
think it might be the coolest idea I've ever seen.
(34:53):
And we'll get to that next right here. Fox Sports
Radio in for Dan Patrick could be known Rich be short.
Speaker 1 (35:00):

which is more than famous.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Regionally famous.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Yeah, it is live from the Fox Sports Radio studio,
according to your mom, exactly, live from the mean streets
of La Always a pleasure to be in for the
great Dan Patrick again, shout out to all the Vatos
locals forever. Our show is gonna be broadcasting live from
the MLB All Star Game. So pumped about that, ynh Wait,
I can't wait to hang with Polar Bear Peter Alonzo, Say,
what's up to my dude? Francisco Lindor. Don't they give
(35:40):
you a wedgie? You think they want to hang with you?
They want to hang with you? You kidding?
Speaker 3 (35:44):
All right?
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Maybe they do. I've been doing the little fistbam thing
with Lindor. A week from now, we're gonna be Atlanta.
It's gonna be fun. Capitol One All Star Village Saturday,
July twelfth through Tuesday to fifteenth, head to the Cobb
Galleria for baseball fun, live andentertainment interactive games. Buy tickets
today at All Star Game dot com now I have
(36:06):
one quick question before we get into this. Uh, this
woman who has the ultimate retirement plan just popped in
my head. You tell me, without thinking about it, don't
put too much thought into it. I don't trust me.
Let's do it. You put thought into I'm sorry, what
was I thinking? We're less than a month, less than
(36:26):
two months from the NFL season. In fact, Danny g
you pointed out, our first preseason game is this month,
July thirty. First, last month, they sneak in one of
the preseason game. What NFL quarterback do you think we're
going to be talking about the most this year?
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Joe Burrow?
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Oh? Yeah, there you go there. What first comes to mind?
I feel like it might be Jalen Hurts, but for
the wrong reasons, because I feel like we're already doing
that because he's left off of every list and people
keep underestimating him. He's like, Yo, this dude just won
a Super Bowl and he doesn't get any respect. And
for that, there's gonna be a lot of people defending
that there's still the team, He's still the guy.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Oh look up on the monitor right now, somebody's holding
up a cardboard cutout of Burrow. Says which quarterback city
needs a Super Bowl win the most.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Joe Burrow is gonna be you know why. I guess
guys like Burrow, did Goff Burrow or cousins guys like Burrow.
In my opinion, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, there's a lot
of great AFC quarterbacks that have yet to get the
job done. So I think there's gonna be a lot
of well whose years are gonna because if Mahomes continues
to get in the way, which he has, and for
(37:33):
all we know, it might be Aaron Rodgers. Again I
wrote down that's what I said. I said, Danny G
is gonna want to strangle us, because I think Pittsburgh's
gonna be pretty good people talking about and I think
people would be like, man, Aaron Rodgers, could he make
one last run? So it's gonna be a lot of
quarterback chatter. But if he shows any signs or glimpses
of greatness and makes a few good plays, has a
(37:53):
few good games, we're gonna be talking about that for
weeks at a time. You're right, But I do think
there's the layer Danny G of your af say. Mahomes
has dominated, not only winning the Super Bowl. He's won three,
but he's been to five. So I think the sentiment
is gonna be which of these AFC quarterbacks is ready
to step it up? You know, time is ticking for
Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. All Right, Now
(38:19):
there's a woman that's doing something that at first you
might be like, this is ridiculous, This is a fool's idea.
Should Aaron Rodgers be looking into this, you know, as
he can as he considers what's next. I mean, he
did say he wanted to never be seen again, right,
He's gonna play one more year, try to win it all,
and then never be heard from again. Well maybe he
should follow the footsteps of seventy seven year old retired
(38:41):
teacher from California. Her name is Sharon Lane. Sharon. I
love this story because what Sharon is trying to do
it seems like crazy on paper. But if you are
not super involved, grandma or grandpa, you never had kids,
(39:01):
you're not you know, so set on like, Hey, I'm
a home buddy, I need to stay in my house.
This woman's doing something way cooler than what most do
in retirement. Now let me explain. I she's doing it
for a valid reason. I'll tell you this. I do
think when I think retirement, I've seen a lot of
people on social media, you know, with their dad or
(39:23):
grandpa do this. I want to hit every baseball stadium,
which I think is awesome because I feel like you
and I are about five to ten shi. I've hitting
all them. We've been to a good twenty plus stadiums together. Yeah,
you need something to live for. I do think there's
something really neat, a little bit of a plan. I'll
tell you about both my Well, my mom's retired. She's
so bored. You need something to do. I think the Hey,
(39:44):
you know, every year we're gonna go, uh hey, we're
gonna meet up with dad at Grandpa. I'm go to
you know, ten different stadiums this year. That's cool, man.
And then eventually you try to hit them all. I
know those books people get where you put a coin
from each stadium. That's cool. Well, listen to what this
woman's doing and tell me if you'd be interested in
this at all. This is this is so popular, min
It's a world starve in some old white lady. Seventy
(40:05):
seven year old retired teacher from California, has traded in
her retirement home for life at sea. Sharon Lane moved
on to the Via the Odyssey, the world's first cruise
that's I don't think you have to call it villa.
(40:26):
If it's just the villa, that is true. Yeah, but
you could live on this cruise ship. Yeah, you can
live on it's it's one where they're saying it's cheaper
than where she was living in California. She's boarded this
boat in June this past month and plans to stay
for fifteen years, seventy seven to ninety two, God willing
(40:51):
she lives to ninety two. She's probably planning to die
on this ship.
Speaker 4 (40:55):
See how many cities she's going to get to visit.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
So she boards this last month, So she's on it now,
fifteen year planned. She's gonna hit four hundred and twenty
five different destinations over one hundred and forty seven countries,
and she's only paid one hundred and thirty thousand dollars
to do it. Okay, it's a one time cost for
the interior villa, which was one hundred and thirty thousand
(41:20):
dollars plus monthly fees that cover meals housekeeping, and laundry.
So with all the amenities. Yeah, it's three thousand dollars.
Oh no, no to do list. She's just an old
lady traveling, seeing the world. I gotta ask what y'all
do this? Would you say, Hey, listen, here's the one thing.
(41:40):
I'm confused. I'd like to think that I'm gonna be
like super involved grandpa. Who knows of you know, my kids,
we'll ever have kids, but you you want to be involved.
But if you had none of that laid out, would
you say, yeah, I'm going to travel the world for
ten to fifteen years. Is that what this boat is for?
Though it seems as a whole purpose alright, So something
to think about your thoughts At Covin on Ritch we'll
(42:03):
take your feedback. Next at eight seven, seven, nine nine
one Fox, we'll get into some NFL and as we
get closer to the Baseball All Star Bank, we'll hit
a little MLB. Coming up next cnr in for the
Great Dan Patrick.
