Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hour two on this Thursday, Dan and The Dan Ats
Dan Patrick Show. I hope you were with us in
the first hour. Actually, if you weren't with us in
the first hour, you may have benefited as well. I'm
not quite sure what happened that first hour, but we
were treated to a song that we didn't ask for,
but Fritzy in the middle of the night woke up,
wrote it down and decided to perform it. And it

(00:25):
had to do with the small market matchup that starts
tonight in Oklahoma City, the Thunder and the Pacers. The
Pacers are nine point underdogs, and there is a chance.
I hate when the media says somebody has no chance,
they have no chance. Well, you do have a chance.
If you're playing, you're still playing, you have a chance.

(00:47):
You know who doesn't have a chance. The Knicks, they
don't have a chance. They're out, or the Celtics, or
the Calves or the Nuggets. It's the Thunder and the Pacers.
So you're saying chance. And if history has taught us anything,
it's this. You have a puncher's chance. That's all you ask.
Now it is seven games. I think Indiana would have

(01:09):
a better chance if it was a one game, you know,
one and done. And even this game here, if Indiana
is stealing a game, it feels like it would be
this game. But they started out as a nine point
underdog and the Sharps betted up to now it's nine
and a half there with okay, see, but we've seen
this before if you go back, obviously the Jets with

(01:31):
Joe Namath and Super Bowl three, and a lot of
that had to do with and here's here's something that
maybe people don't follow when there's upsets, when you go,
oh my god, how did that team beat that team?
A lot of times we don't focus on that other
team being old enough to understand the Baltimore Colts in

(01:52):
nineteen sixty eight, sixty nine, they were a powerhouse. You
had Don Schulz their coach, but you know, Johnny United
is they had great defensive players. They're the Colts, they're
in the NFL, and nobody gave the Jets any any
chance at all. They were eighteen point underdogs and then

(02:12):
Joe Namath guaranteed they were going to win it. Well,
the difference in the AFL at the time and the
NFL was. The AFL was about wide open offenses. And now,
granted the final score was sixteen to seven, so it
was about defense here. But it's because I don't know
if people the media knew enough about the AFL as

(02:36):
much as they were overwhelmed by the NFL. You go
back to the Mavericks when they beat the Big Three
in Miami. Okay, if you looked at the Dallas team team,
it was a really good team. You had the Big Three,
and you go, well, they have to win. Well, nobody
thought about Jason Terry or Dirk Novitsky going off in

(02:58):
that series, and they ended up surprising them. The Four
Pistons took down Shaq and Kobe Eli Manning and the
Giants when they beat the Patriots. And you know the reason.
Part of the reason why when I went on David
Letterman prior to that Super Bowl and said the Giants
would win the Super Bowl was because they had already

(03:18):
played the Patriots at the end of the regular season,
and I thought, Okay, we've taken the mystique out of this.
Can the Giants beat the Patriots on a neutral site?
And I truly felt that they could. And it turns
out that their front four dominated and Eli made a
couple of plays. Now this is different. The Pacers are

(03:38):
a really good team. I think people now have come
to that conclusion. But you go kicking and screaming because
you're probably watching, you go, all right, that's kind of cute.
Ah yeah, okay, Halliburton, all right, Pascal Cionca American?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Who's this?

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Miles Turner guy, t J. McConnell seems kind of spunky.
Rick Carloyle. Yeah, it looks like Jim Carrey. We know
all this stuff. But then you start to watch them
play and then you realize it's a quality team.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
See, to me is a far better team. But far
better doesn't always win. But a lot of times when
you have the one out that if the Giants play
the Patriots ten times, do I think the Giants win
seven or eight? No?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
I do not.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
Do I think they could win half the time.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I do.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
If I looked at the Jets and the Colts and
if they played again, well, I still like the Jets,
but I think with Don Julett, Johnny Unitis and the Colts,
would they figure out a way to counteract? Yes, I do,
and maybe they win six out of ten. But all
you have to do. You know, if Gordon Hayward shot
goes in, Butler beats Duke and that's an all time upset. Also,

(04:48):
when you talk about all time upsets, the Giants beating
the Patriots is an all time upset because it was
Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and they were undefeated. That's what
makes it even bet more important. The Jets beating the
Baltimore Colts and Don Shula, Johnny Unitas.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Like, you have to have that.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
When UCLA back in the day, if they lost, it
was huge because it was UCLA. But I think that
also factors in as well. You know, you're not looking
at OKC as oh my god, you know they're the
seventy two Lakers. You're not looking at them that you
know they're the Golden State Warriors because there's that unknown

(05:29):
and they haven't won championships before. OKC is a big,
big favorite, huge favorite, one of the biggest of the
last twenty five years. And they've earned it because they
played this way. They played great, they've been consistent. But Indiana,
I think it's forty eight and sixteen since the beginning

(05:50):
of January, and you can say, okay, the East isn't
as good as the way, whatever your rationale is. But
there's a chance, there's a chance. It's like the Pacers
playing the Knicks. Well, the Knicks just beat the Celtics.
Pacers have no chance. Nick's got a home court advantage. Okay,

(06:12):
what happens, puncher's chance, Haliburton gets a shot to go. Oh,
game two, they're in for it. Now, they're gonna get blown.
Pacers win game two, waved now all of a sudden, Oh,
you know what, the pressure's on the Knicks and because
of all those fans that show up and okay, whatever your.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Excuse was, Indiana was a better team.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
But sometimes you'll look at and go, oh, man, what
an upset, and then you realize it's not an upset.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yes, Marvin, you.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Mentioned the twenty eleven Dallas Mavericks that beat the Heat.
Their coach Rick Carlyle, Rick Carlisle. You know, look, they
were down to to one, the Dallas Mavericks to the
Miami Heat. He put him in his own defense and
the Heat did not know.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
What to do.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
He completely out coached an outclass Eric Sposer in those finals.
So he might be able to do it again. Is
an unexperienced coach.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Yes, Pauline, you know, we talked about this all throughout
the Knixt Pacer series, that the Pacers are just out
shooting them.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I looked it up.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
The Pacers are overall the best shooting team in the
entire NBA if you can find in twos, threes and
free throws, and that could keep you in any series.
I know they're great defensively, okay, see, but you could
shoot your way out of anything.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, and you could shoot your way into anything in
today's NBA. That's why we have these huge points swings
where you're down twenty with ten to go and you
come back. You know, the old NBA that doesn't happen.
But now, I mean, it just feels like it's commonplace.
And maybe you get one of those moments. And if
you're an Indiana Pacer fan, you need one of those moments,

(07:41):
one of those moments where you win a game and
maybe you shouldn't have. You got to put a little
doubt into OKC, they haven't been here before. You've got
to have some doubt there. You got to make them
go hmmm, because for the most part, they haven't had that.
Keep in mind, Denver could be in the championship. I mean,

(08:01):
Denver went seven games with them. They are beatable, but
you gotta beat them four times. And that's that's what's
the that's the uphill climb, that's Mount Everest. To beat
a team that has home court advantage and you got
to beat him four times, Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yeah, the Pacers are gonna need like another great Nie
Smith performance or an Andrew Nebhart performance where who had thirty.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeah, they're gonna have to have one of those great performance.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Last night it was the Oilers in overtime Leon dreisladdle
and they go up one to zero on the Florida Panthers.
It's playoff hockey. This is a sport where it doesn't
matter who's playing. To me, I'll watch doesn't matter because
inevitably it comes down to one goal in a moment

(08:51):
and then you go to overtime. There's nothing better in
sports overtime hockey in the postseason. And it was fun
last night to be able to watch that and Edmonton
down three to one, and I'm going, uh oh, because
Florida doesn't give up the lead. I mean, Florida wins
these games. They're the ones that come back from three

(09:13):
to one and all of a sudden, Connor McDavid and
Leon Dreisidel.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
I do like that.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
If you pay attention just a little bit long enough,
you start to understand some of the personalities of some
of the players. Like I love that, like Brad Marshan's
always going to get into something, yes, you know, he's
always going to start a little bit of trouble somewhere
in the series.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I love little things like that.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
And watching the coverage there, it's great to see Gretzki there,
you know in Edmonton, and Wayne's talking about, you know,
Connor McDavid, and Wayne is so humble that he'll talk
about the greatness of Connor mc You know, Wayne's the
greatest player of all time, but he's talking about Connor
McDavid and they're talking like he could be the most

(09:57):
talented player, most skilled player to ever play the game.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
But you gotta win a championship, got to win a title.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Yes.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Now, I don't know anything about hockey, but the Oilers
are they on that same level as the Raiders, Yankees,
Dodgers as far as uniforms.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Oh, I was gonna say that you and Paulie Go
you're the uniform police here.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
Because those look like the same uniforms Gretzky were.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, PAULI.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
They've changed very little. Hockey changes very little, the old
school teams. But the Oilers' uniforms were always great. But
they were branded with Gretzky and Messia back in the
day as great team, great uniforms. The greatness of Gretzky
made the uniforms even better.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
And that's why I think if the Ponders back in
the seventies were actually good, then we might look at
those uniforms differently. Or with the Tampa Bay the Creamsickle,
if they were good, then maybe we would look at
We would have looked at those uniforms differently because there's
certain uniforms where you go, man, they look good and

(10:59):
because that team is really good. Otherwise you'd be like,
although Marvin loves is Toronto Blue Jays, you think it's
the best uniform or best logo or.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
It's the best logo in sports. But hockey from top
to bottom has the best uniforms.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I love those Dallas Stars. That green damn is that good? Gorgeous?

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Love it?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Okay, A couple of phone calls in here, Gabriel in
North Carolina leads this off. Hi, Gabe, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 8 (11:30):
Hey, good morning, Gabriel six foot tall two forty as
a call and say thank you for everything you do
not only part of the Dead Dad's Club, but also
the medical squad. I've been battling cancer for almost four
years now, and you guys have been there day in,
day out. Brought me so much joy and laugher. Love

(11:54):
you guys so much, including you Fritzy very much. But
I also had an idea for your last show in Atlanta.
It's going to be hard to be able to see
the show, especially if you're just meandering around, etc. I
would like to get on that list. You guys should
sort a list now of people that can visit the
show and watch from the outside. I have always been
so jealous, you know, those people have been able to

(12:16):
sit there and watch the show, and I would love
to be there and thank you personally, especially on your
way out the door.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
All right, all right, Gabriel, all right, Yeah, that's a
ways away the super Bowl in Atlanta. By the way,
just got word that Jay Harris Sports Center anchor prostate
cancer surgery next week. I think Jay's been there for
twenty three years. He's one of the nicest people. I'll
start with that, one of the nicest people I've ever met,

(12:44):
and a true, true, true professional Sports Center anchor. Nobody
says a bad word about Jay Harris. So my thoughts
are with you.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Jay.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
I just saw the news that he announced that prostate
cancer and look, people come back from that, and he will.
But you know there's always that you know, you say cancer.
I mean it used to be when you said cancer,
it was basically that's it, say goodbye. But and you know,

(13:15):
they've done so much great work with the V Foundation
with cancer research, and Jay has been you know, front
and center when he would anchor with Hannah Storm and
they would be, you know, asking you to donate to
the V Foundation. Hopefully those who donated can help Jay Harris,
that those donations do help him, and that he will

(13:36):
be back doing Sports Center. But Jay, I love you,
and we'll make the smooth segue from something really sentimental
to Eric in North Carolina.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Hi, Eric, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 9 (13:48):
dB? I am six one and two.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
One hundred and twenty nice and not rely hard to be.

Speaker 8 (13:59):
Funny, but I said it is just a way too high.

Speaker 10 (14:05):
So I'm just going to say goodbye, good buddy.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
All right, thank you, Eric, thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
I mean, that's how you follow up a cancer announcement
with Jay Harris. Is a song from Eric singing Lovely
Yes And in case you missed Todd's song from the
first hour, be thankful. It wasn't your best. It wasn't
it you know what, It wasn't bad enough? Yeah, like

(14:35):
sometimes it's so bad that it's funny. And then the
audience claims that I don't like the audience because I
allow you to sing, and they do have a very
valid point there. Uh, speaking of losers the Colorado Rockies. Okay,
So I said to Fritzy, reach out to the Colorado

(14:57):
Rockies and see if Jack Corgan, their play by play guy,
can join us, because they've been historically that. Well, he
reached out a couple of days ago, and all of
a sudden, they went three in a row. So Jack
will join. I wonder if he's going to be cockyed,
you know, like, how about us on the Marlins. Well,

(15:20):
we're told that they beat the Marlins, that nobody was
there watching the game though, So I'm going to take
people's word for it that they beat the Marlins.

Speaker 11 (15:27):
Tree falls in the forest cover. Yes, yes, it makes
a sense.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yes, thank you, Tod. All right, we'll take a break.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
It's a de fritzie. We should reach out to the
Colorado Rockies. We've been talking about them. They were off
to a historically bad start. The run differential is on
pace for an all time high, and they were going
into Miami, and so reached down to Jack Corrigan. He's
been the play by play voice for the Rockies for
twenty three years, so he's had the highs and the

(17:06):
lows and the very lows, and then all of a sudden,
the Rockies win three in a row against Miami. Jack,
I don't want to take credit for it, but I'll
take credit for it. How would you explain this week
so far?

Speaker 13 (17:21):
You know, first of all, great to be with you, Dan,
enjoy your show. I've enjoyed your work for a long time.
A couple of Ohio guys. So you know that's a
good thing. Well, the most obvious aspect of it is
if you had looked at the Rockies' first fifty games
from college football strength of schedule, they had the toughest

(17:46):
strength to schedule.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
I mean, they played all the first and second.

Speaker 13 (17:50):
Place teams, and so that was an immediate challenge for
a team that's in the process of to remake themselves.
And so when they played the Marlins the past three days,
it was the first time in five weeks that they
had played a team below five hundred, and so they

(18:15):
were able to match up a little better. It's still
going to be a challenge because of where they are
talent wise, but at least we'll thank the Dan Patrick
Show forgetting the Rocky three wins.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
But going to work, and you know, baseball is about hope,
and we always have hope for our team, and everybody
thinks they can win in spring training. But you're going
there every single day and you know chances are we're
going to lose. How do you approach your job and
try to keep that momentum, enthusiasm, excitement, and hope up

(18:53):
every single game.

Speaker 13 (18:55):
That's a great question, you know, I was fortunate kind
of in a backhanded way, if you will. When I
started with the Indians back in nineteen eighty five, three
of my first seven seasons covering the Indians, they lost
more than one hundred games, and so I learned early

(19:17):
on in my play by playtime, if you will, to
really compartmentalize. The great Joe Tait, May he rest in peace,
who was my first baseball partner, an outstanding basketball announcer
in the Basketball Hall of Fame for his work with
the Cavaliers. Joe said to me, he goes Baseball's one

(19:40):
hundred and sixty two chapter book. All you do is
worry about the chapter that night, and maybe one of
the best things he said, You know, you can be
an awful team and you're gonna still win fifty sixty games.
So you tell yourself, well, tonight's one of the nights
we're going to win. You get all excited, you do it,

(20:01):
and then if you don't win, you leave the ballpark
feeling even better because your odds have just improved by
a game that you're still going to win fifty to sixty.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Do you bring it home with you when you lose.

Speaker 13 (20:14):
No, Well, my wife might disagree. With that, I think
I've learned to separate it. I mean, I'll feel it.
You know, I was a college athlete and I've always
been competitive. So when you aren't winning, yes, it does
impact on you because you build a relationship with those
players and coaches. But again, that's the beauty of baseball,

(20:39):
Dan is the next day you start over again, and
who knows this is a game that day where Pal
Freeland's going to go seven innings and pitch great like
you did yesterday for the Marlins, or.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Hunter Goodman hits a couple of home runs.

Speaker 13 (20:56):
And so that's what fortifies you if you will.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
I know, you don't want to bite the hand that feeds.
But how did the Rockies get in this situation?

Speaker 13 (21:07):
Well, I think you can certainly look at where they
are in terms of they have to be a draft
and develop team. You're not going to get a free
agent pitcher to come and pitch at altitude.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
It's just that simple.

Speaker 13 (21:21):
So you're from a pitching perspective, especially, you have to
draft and sign international players that give you a chance.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
On the mound. And through a number of years of.

Speaker 13 (21:38):
Rolling the dice and missing in the draft with players
or having injuries, happen. I think they have struggled to
keep up in terms of depth of talent. Dan, I
believe they need to fortify their scouting department. They need

(21:58):
more scouts out of the road, They need more coaches
on the road. You know, the Rockies have, for example,
that they're low A team, they have three coaches. Well,
when I started with the Indians in eighty five, the
low A team had three coaches.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
And the way the.

Speaker 13 (22:20):
Game is now, you need more than that, and a
lot of teams are doing that.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
So but I think ownership is not committed.

Speaker 13 (22:28):
In that regard. It does not appear to be that way.
I will I would certainly agree with you on that.
That's the challenge that maybe this year finally pushes them
over the precipice, if.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
You will, and they spend some money in that regard.

Speaker 13 (22:45):
They do have some good young talent in the system,
but again, probably not enough to overcome the misses and
the injuries.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
And that's the result.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Twelve and fifty. How bad?

Speaker 2 (23:01):
You know, like the White Sox historically bad, and like,
if you guys are going to be bad, do you
want to be historically the worst team in baseball history?

Speaker 4 (23:11):
That's a great question.

Speaker 13 (23:12):
I mean, and sometimes i'd say that to people with
a bit of humor. You know, hey, if we're gonna
have a bad season, let's make it historic. I remember
talking with lenn Casper, who does the White Sox. Lenny
a great broadcaster last season as they were going through it,
and he says, hey, you just it is what it is,

(23:35):
and you hope that something changes out of it. And
so I guess out of this year, Dan, you know,
you hope that it does.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Finally. I don't think it'll be any kind.

Speaker 13 (23:47):
Of seismic change, but you hope there's some kind of
change to.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Not go through this again.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yeah, you brought up the point I was going to
bring up. Do you reach out to fellow announcers who
have gone through this, because I can't imagine. You know,
you got to sit there, You got to sit there
and call it and it's right in front of you.
But hey, you guys are only twenty five games behind
the Dodgers. So it was twenty seven a week ago.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Jack, that's right, we're making progress.

Speaker 13 (24:17):
The one thing out of that and Lennon and I
talked to Lan Casper and I talked about that last year.
The advantage with radio is you have to be so
descriptive so you can use that. I think it's harder
on the TV side, where you're not doing all that
basic description. The video provides that, so you end up

(24:42):
talking more conversationally.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
That's the challenge. I think.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Keep your head up, keep your sense of humor, and
I think you're going to need it. Jack here in
the second half of the season.

Speaker 13 (24:55):
Well, Dan, I appreciate the chance to visit with you,
and you know, it's still a great job. Forty years
of them letting me go to the ballpark and paying
me for that. I'm doing Okay.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
It's Jack Corgan.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
He is the play by play voice for the Colorado
Rockies radio network. He spent seventeen years with Cleveland prior
to that. And the Rockies sweep the Marlins. Now they
get the Mets. Boy, the Mets, they better be ready
face the Rockies that'll be coming up this weekend.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
It's got to be tough.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
You know, you have to go to work, and granted
it is a game and it's baseball, but you still
you're watching, you know, an organization that failed you. Because
he's talking about you don't have the infrastructure there and
It's not like you're five games or ten games out.
You're twenty five games out. I mean you've only played

(25:52):
six You've got one hundred games left. And I think
that's the disappointing part is because you can go back.
Colorado had some really fun teams. Now, not great pitchers,
but they had some really fun hitters. And I loved
calling the highlights. Vinnie Castill, yeah, Andres Galarraga. They had

(26:13):
some great, great fun guys. But you know the whole
thing about altitude, You know, did baseball think, hey, should
we have a team here or what can we do
with the team here?

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Hey, you know balls are flying out all of a sudden.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
You know your batting average when you went there, your
power numbers or your era, and then all of a sudden,
it's like we got a problem here.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Yeah, Paul, do you.

Speaker 6 (26:40):
Think historically, if you're an agent for a Colorado Rockies pitcher,
you pro rate their stats when you present them to
the free agent market, or you go back to the Rockies.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
I think I think that would be a great idea.

Speaker 6 (26:50):
Yeah, you would have to categorize the stats or put
them in some type of perspective that this is the
Rocky so the batting average is twenty points higher.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
No, No, I would just say let's look at the road numbers. Yeah,
that's all. And then if I'm an agent for a
Colorado Rocky hitter, I say, let's just look at the
home numbers here. The home splits here, all right, h
Trevor and Santa Monica. Hi, Trevor, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Dad? For a time, long time? Six' to one?

Speaker 14 (27:18):
One, YEAH i just wanted to comment on what you
guys are talking about with The canadians. Fans if they're From,
calgary WHICH i am From calgary born and. Raised Every
canadian fan is rooting for The oilers. Period, really and

(27:39):
as we all, know since what ninety three Kings? Montreal,
okay if it wasn't For marty McSorley, STICK.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
I am surprised at. That thank, You. TREVOR i don't
know if everybody agrees with. YOU i just think you're
so territorial with your. Team, yeah so you Want canada
to you, know be back with you, know having The.
Cup BUT i just don't know if there's no way
A Toronto Maple leaf fan is, going you, know good For.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Edmonton joe In New york Eyed, joe what's on your?

Speaker 15 (28:17):
Mind, Hi, dan you have to agree with the previous
call From. CALGARY i for a lot of time In,
canada and they are territorial about. Hockey one of the
things that will make you almost cringe is they got
ice or ice water from like all these rinks from
players on The oilers from different places In, canada Like

(28:39):
ontario And Nova scotia whatever to put on the. Ice
and everybody In canada pretty much knows somebody who's a
professional hockey. Player so not only do they root because
they're A canadian, team but they root for an individual
player because they grew up with him or you, know
he played juniors in their. Town so. Hockey it's not
a big, country, obviously it's only got a you, know

(28:59):
thirty five million, people but that they are really Pro
oilers and Hate american.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Teams all, Right thank, You.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Joe this feels different than last year when we brought
this up and then we heard it from a Passionate
calgary flame fan and it just felt like it was
mixed of do you.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Root For, Edmonton you're rooting For. Canada are you rooting
for Edmund i'm rooting For. EDMONTON i. AM i.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Am that make me not A Patriot's florida Anti, florida
BUT i do respect The.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Panthers.

Speaker 7 (29:37):
MAN i wonder what's changed since last year and this.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Year dennis In, Michigan, Hi, dennis what's on your mind? Today?

Speaker 10 (29:50):
DAN i love what you guys. Do thank you so.
Much trevor is absolutely. Right Every canadian is pulling For,
edmonton and the other caller is, right, well there is
more multiple allegiances in hockey than in any other. Sport
you may have had a player play at a local,
College university Of, michigan go on to play From, minnesota

(30:11):
and you root For, minnesota but the previous color is
right in every small town some kid went and played
Junior Like Sidney crosby played In, London ontario for The London.
Knights you root For pittsburgh even if you're From. Ontario
gretzky's From, Brantford. Ontario he played for The Sude greyhounds
AND i claimed part Time canadian, status extended family cottage In, Areo.

(30:35):
Canada but it's not like dropping off a kid at
a school and then the school has the child on
the baseball team or football. Team families are so much
more involved in the development of hockey, players getting up,
early taking them to the, rank taking them to different
towns and travel leagues and so. Forth the association between,
kids teams and towns is much. More it's much deeper

(30:58):
than what it is at any other.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Sport thank, You. DENNIS i appreciate. That i'm happy for.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
That BUT i just thought that you know the different
teams and provinces and you're just not going to be rooting,
for you, know another team even though They're.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Canadian.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Uh let's See, Walton, Baltimore, hi Walt.

Speaker 9 (31:21):
A dp five eight one.

Speaker 10 (31:23):
Sixty.

Speaker 9 (31:24):
UH i don't know. WHAT i don't know what These
canadians are. Thinking if The, steelers As baltimore, fan The
steelers ever played a different country Like germany Or england
And american, FOOTBALL i would never root for them ever
in a million. Years, okay but that's that's not the
Reason i'm. CALLING i was listening to The Stern show
THAT i was born in WHEN i was driving to
work at three, am and they played a bit back

(31:46):
from two thousand where you won The Stern show or
the F. Emmy, yeah and that's When jackie called. You
and ACTUALLY i think like The cubs fan or Some
cubs fan.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
And Captain jenks who called in and pranked me On Sports.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
Center, yes, yes.

Speaker 9 (32:07):
And you said you only have taken four calls in
like your whole history At Sports center, supposedly if you
could reminisce see you at the what kind of reaction
to the mothership give? You and if you've had any
other prank calls in your?

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Career all, right thank you, Will i'll take a.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Break i'll open up the scrap book story time With
Uncle dan When Captain jenks called Into Sports center and
he said that he Was Steve. Bartman we'll take a
break back after.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
This be sure to catch the live edition Of The
Dan Patrick show weekdays at nine Am eastern six Am
pacific On Fox Sports radio and The iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Wap watched some hockey last.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Night also watched Softball Texas Tech Texas, Man i've watched
a lot of. Softball it's, fun it was. Exciting and
In Texas tech has this pitcher who's getting paid a
million dollars N il for. Softball so the last Ning Canada, Canaday, Canada,

(33:11):
canada Man o Man o man man and she pitches every. Inning, Yeah,
yeah she's a workhorse for.

Speaker 16 (33:20):
Him, Yes, todd they could have used that baseball rule
where you just point instead of throwing the intentional walk forth.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
Pitches and the person on.

Speaker 11 (33:26):
Basement, yeah that was aggressive going after a pitch that
was near the.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Strikes controversial ending there At uh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
A million dollars for a pitcher women's, Softball, YEAH.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
I know with women's softball they could pitch almost. Unlimited
but it's got to be weird to be the second
or third best pitcher on a team and you're, like
AM i getting in no, What i'm going to stay
in my? Land not stay in my lane? Here would
the sport be better if that you had to have
a different starter every day or something like.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
That as long as you can.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
PITCH i love that she's out there and you know
you got to gear up for.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
HER i love.

Speaker 2 (34:06):
It it's, like Damn Nolan ryan's going to the mound.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
Again BUT i.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Think Patrick mahomes was involved in the recruitment of. HER
i think she came From. Stanford but, man it's, fun it,
is it's. Exciting they've coverage been really really. Good, Yes, tom.

Speaker 11 (34:24):
Aren't you amazed by that windmill? Motion sides the fact
that they can throw it that hard and with control of,
that you're not gonna rip your shoulder.

Speaker 16 (34:31):
Apart it just looks like after throwing that ten times
with that windmill, motion your shoulder would just. Explode my
dad used to pitch like, that And i've seen little
videos from WHEN i was, younger And i'm, LIKE i
don't know.

Speaker 11 (34:44):
How they do.

Speaker 16 (34:44):
That how does that not put crazy pressure on your
shoulder underhand like, that throwing seventy eighty miles an.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Hour so your dad was in fast pitch.

Speaker 16 (34:52):
Softball he was in a fastball a pitch softball, league
and he would do the windmill thing and, that you,
know he would take his hook shots and.

Speaker 11 (34:56):
Basketball he was very, athletic And i'm, like it was
just wild.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
LOOKING i need to see what his era, was, Though
i'm taking your word that he's not sure.

Speaker 11 (35:05):
How successful he was as far as wins and losses an,
era but he threw really.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Hard roger In, iowa H, roger what's on your?

Speaker 8 (35:12):
Mind?

Speaker 2 (35:15):
One by the, way nobody breaks down hockey and women's
softball the way we.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Do you're, welcome, Yes, roger all, right.

Speaker 17 (35:23):
Watch you On peacock every. Day AND i was, wondering
on your last day in the Man, cave would you
allow The danet to take one thing home with them
and dants what would that?

Speaker 10 (35:34):
Be?

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Uh the answer is, no But i'd still be curious
what they would. Take todd last. Show you can pick
anything in the Man.

Speaker 16 (35:44):
CAVE i haven't played it even one, time BUT i
keep seeing it right in front of.

Speaker 11 (35:48):
Me THAT nba pinball machine looks pretty.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Awesome, okay put that. In that's right over my. Shoulder,
okay seating one item and then we say.

Speaker 7 (35:56):
Goodbye probably the Landon donovan jersey that's hanging.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
Down the hallway. There the game, used it's game.

Speaker 7 (36:04):
USED i think he was like really sick or something
in that, game AND i think he scored like a huge.
GOAL i forget what game it's, from but it's. Notable,
yeah it's definitely.

Speaker 6 (36:12):
Notable that was from The Confederation cup where they Beat,
SPAIN i.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Think BUT i think he's scored against Like algeria or.
Something that's not.

Speaker 7 (36:20):
That that's not that. One oh it's. Not, no he
wouldn't just let us hang that outside of our. Bathroom
here's that looks bigger than.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
That whatever whatever the match, was there's graft stain on.

Speaker 7 (36:30):
It it used to be above the, toilet and now
it's made its way.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Out of the. Bathroom so that's. Good, Look i'm running
out of space.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Here.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
Yeah that's one of the things that people don't realize
about this place is that when you walk into any
one of the number of bathrooms are, here there's probably
an amazing jersey hanging right the.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Toilet all, Right, marvin one thing.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
Your original Air Jordan one's that are right over here
in the area weeks our camera guy.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Suits, yeah, yeah for. Sure, OKAY pauli.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
One i'd probably go with my wallet and, keys BUT
i can't have. TWO i would go with The Tony
stewart charred quarter panel that he sent to. Us it's
a very unique. ITEM i don't know where i'd put
it in my. HOUSE i don't know if my wife
would allow that in our great.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Room all, right, well Then i'll consider.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
That you, know.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Maybe we'll have a, draft, okay and it's on a snake.
Draft we don't go up and then. Back you get one.
Item ain't sure we can't have? Two no, one BECAUSE
i have.

Speaker 7 (37:31):
Two another one THAT i really, want one like that
ONE i grabbed for my, Kid, okay you could have.
THAT i really want to take the odorous mask That
odorisk was the lead singer Of. Gwar he's no longer with,
us he's unfortunately gone back to. Space but the odorous
mask is he didn't give that to, anybody and he
gave you. ONE i would take that in two. Seconds

(37:53):
and WHEN i asked, HIM i, said CAN i have the?
Mask and then he gave it to. Me and Then
seaton was, LIKE i can't believe he.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
Gave up the.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
Mask he does a give A.

Speaker 6 (38:02):
I will yield my pick to allow seat and have
two because he seems very passionate about those WHICH i.
Respect i'm much more, curious And i'm not making a joke.
Here what your plan is with everything in this building
after we, stop because it is beyond.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Overwhelming my wife AND i talk about, this and SINCE
i own the, building she, said would you just keep
everything in? Here And i'm thinking that MAYBE i just do.
THAT i just leave everything as, is but THEN i
don't know if somebody's going to come in and do

(38:36):
a show after me When i'm.

Speaker 6 (38:38):
Gone that's WHAT i think you should do to be,
real is least this out as a production facility and
leave a good amount of the sports memorbilia and MAYBE
espn or A fox or someone would want to use
it as a ready made production.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Facility you could do well.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
There, yeah maybe somebody wants to come in and host
a show.

Speaker 7 (38:56):
Here, Yes then the question is would you be able
to control yourself enough to not walk through here during
the day and be, LIKE i wouldn't do. That that's
not where it. Goes no, no, no, no no no.
No back here by the, fireplace this is where The.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
OKAY i would not would do. THAT i don't think
that that's HOW i would not.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Critique the, show BUT i would critique where you put
things in the.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
Show that's.

Speaker 6 (39:22):
True you would have to move out of this state
and then let the building do it.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
WELL i.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
WOULD i would come maybe in the morning to the,
show and then after the, show but not during the
show THAT i would just do a drive by and
you let me see what they got going.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
On who delivered, something and we get great. Things you.
Know the audience has been so generous in sending in.
Things you.

Speaker 2 (39:45):

just different items THAT i don't know if they're valuable

(40:05):

The Kobe bryant Jersey All star jersey number twenty. Four
When kobaashi, said you know to the White, mambo that's. Awesome,
yeah when he sent that to, me And i'm, LIKE
