have a great week Stay one of the Dan Patrick Patrick.
We're here Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday again normally on five
to seven on the East, two to four on the West.
Every day Cavino and Rich and we have a big
party June twentieth through to twenty second. Yeah, in Vegas.

(00:49):
We're just talking about it. We're figuring out we had
to broadcast from a pool, from a casino. Whatever the
heck we're doing. That's irrelevant right now. Just book your travel,
make sure you're there June twentieth to the two twenty second,
a big Cavino on Rich Fox Sports Radio party Yeah,
it's gonna be fun. This is your invite. And hope
you had a Rory McElroy sort of weekend. Oh yes, sir,

(01:12):
Master's Champion. Hope you had a Volkanofsky sort of weekend,
Patty the Baddie UFC three fourteen a Boots Ennis, some
good boxing over the weekend sort of weekend, not a
Cheryl Hines type of weekend where the president stood her
up for a handshake. Did you see that? That was embarrassing, dude.
Anytime you're left hanging like that, Oh, it's the most

(01:37):
deflating feeling ever.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
I don't feel embarrassed if a kid leaves me hanging
when I'm coaching, when I'm like, yeah, good job, little buddy,
and I get like, come on, give me fist bump.
If that's embarrassing, imagine you're at UFC and you go
to give the president a handshake and he's like that
right now, Oh so cool, cringey, so cool. So that
happened over the weekend. But again, back Tory McElroy, Paige

(02:01):
Sporadic tweeted. I mean millions of people tweeted, but she
said something along the lines of how nice it was
to see everybody in the moment without their phones. And
I told you I went to a concert over the
weekend where they took away the phones. It was a party,
and I was actually having great conversation, no pressures of

(02:24):
taking selfies and people recording, recording footage that they'll never
see again. People simply recording to brag about the fact
that they were there. That's the other reason too. It's like, hey,
look at me, you're doing it for the gram, just
to brag to your three friends on social media that
you were at this event. They did this a lot
with stand up comedy specials and just stand up in general,

(02:47):
like hey, no phones, put your phones away, check your
phones at the door. I know Dave Chappelle is huge
for anytime he does a special no phones allowed. And
it's the ability of being in the moment. We've lost
the ability to want to be in the moment. And
when you saw all eyes on the Masters and no

(03:08):
one had their phone out, and then they show have
you seen the side by side watch foot Have you
seen the side by side picture that's floating around of
the NBA and the Masters from over the weekend the NBA,
like Lebron someone was going up for a shot and
you saw everyone in the crowd. It's everyone's phone, everyone
bragging because we're stating the obvious. But no one ever

(03:30):
watches this footage again. You never have your buddies over
and you say, hey, you want to see my highlights
from the game. I was at no, because your footage
is not better than the actual footage that the professionals
have captured already. You don't need that. Page's hot take
was I wish all sporting events band phones. It was
so special to see everyone enjoying the moment and being present.

(03:53):
So your thoughts on that it starts at the dinner table,
but you can incorporate this into your life. And I
think there's a lot of young kids that are pushing
back and starting to realize that there's more to life
than this, and I think it's becoming a trend. I'll
give you two more examples of how and why life
without your phone could be a lot better. Two things

(04:15):
I saw over the weekend. Actually they both involved the Angels.
Did you see that jabebroni that interfered with the foul
ball that Mike Trout could have had? That was a
big highlight over the weekend. Yeah, Mike, Mike Track goes
to catch a foul ball in right field and some
Astros fan leans in and it seems fair, well not fair.

(04:41):
It's a foul ball, but it's an okay play because
it's in foul territory. But he grabs the ball out
of his mit, kind of like what happened in the
Yankees playoffs in the postseason this past year. He grabs
out of the mitt and then tries to give it
back to Mike Trout and he apologizes like, oh now,
we a, I all saw that. But after the game,

(05:03):
the update was that Mike Trout went out to find
this guy and his kid to apologize for getting heated
in the moment, and he wanted to give him a
few autographs, an autograph, ball and bat or whatever. It
was very nice. I was just very nice. I just
look at it as a prejudice against guidos because the
guy that did it to Mookie bets that guy's a criminal,
and this guy's like the best dude, is you from Jersey? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Why are you?

Speaker 2 (05:26):
What's the difference? Same crime? Yeah, what's up with that?
Why those Jabbroni's get banned from baseball forever? And this
guy is all over social media because of this Mike
Trout moment.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Did those guys apologize though, Well, they were.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Just hateable ass clown Yankees fans, which I'm okay with.
They were Gronks buddies, That's the true story. They were
GRONKX buddies for real. So I don't know if you
saw the update, but I urge you to check it
out because guess what, the beautiful moment was ruined the
moment the father and I say disrespectfully. Maybe he's a
nice guy, he's probably a dad whatever, but he ruined

(06:02):
the moment. When Mike Trout is talking to him man
to man, Mike Trout goes out of his way man
to man to say, hey, man, I'm sorry, I got heated.
It's all good. I want you guys to enjoy the game. Hey,
what's up little buddy? Hey do you have fun at
the game. Here's a Mike Trout autograph. You know what
the dad does, instead of being a man and shaking

(06:25):
his hand and looking at him eye to aye, man
to man, he pulls out his phone and he has
it up Mike Trout's nose, like that's disrespectful and that
You're not in the moment at that point. And if
Mike Trout was wasn't a gentleman, he could have easily said, hey, man,
put the phone down, what are we doing? Like it's awkward.
Imagine you talking to somebody and you're recording you. When

(06:45):
you're talking, you're like, yo, yes, it's like it feels disrespectful,
it feels weird. It's not in the moment, and it
ruined the moment. It's not natural. I watch back that moment,
I see what I'm talking this and I know there's
like you know, Dirk bags and ask clowns make a
living doing this, like the paparazzi. But that's why you
can't blame celebrities. You said. The clip from a week

(07:05):
ago where the minute Justin Bieber tries to go to
like the coffee shop, all these people have phones in
his face and he's like, you're all money grubbing a
holes And you saw Bieber go off on these people
because is he going to outer space? Too rich? Give
me the up day, shut up. But I think phones,
for as great as they are, listen, social media, smartphones

(07:26):
have changed our life in many great ways. But the
bad way is that we no longer live in the moment,
comedy show, concert, ballgame. We're sore table conversation, hanging out
with your buddies. Can I tell you what. I'll give
you this though, because there's a lot of pushback rich
to what we're saying. I'll give you a great example
when our boy Gary Vayner chuck Gary Hey, am Gary Vee,

(07:48):
our good pal Gary Vee. Yeah, he says, but don't
lie about it. When we were hanging out with our
buddies growing up, it's not like we were engaged in
full conversation the whole time we were watching TV. It
wasn't awful conversation. We were watching the game, we were
watching MTV. We weren't talking the whole time. So today's

(08:12):
just a modern, updated version of that. But when you
look at the stats man, it's like ten hours a
week sometimes that you're on your phone and you're losing
that eye to eye contact and engagement. But it's not
like we were fully engaged growing We were playing video games,
you know, we were still doing that stuff growing up.
There's got to be a better balance. I think it
starts with maybe enjoying the ball game, enjoying a dinner,

(08:35):
putting it down for that moment on vacation like the
White Lotus, and I said, there's a two prong story
about the Angels. This, dude, I feel ruined the moment
by pulling out the phone. Guess what the news captured it.
You didn't need to record it. That looked stupid. Sorry
you're recording Mike Trout, Like what a fanboy. I get it,

(08:57):
he's Mike Trout. But that was a man to man
come conversation. Imagine like, I don't know, give me one
of my heroes, rich Pee Wee Herman a slash. I'm
just to be like, hey, Covino, I just want to
say I heard you feeling it. For Dan Patrick, I'm like,

(09:19):
hold on, Derek, hold on, And I'm recording him say
it again. Man, way to put yourself beneath somebody and
not be in the moment. Mike Trout came to you
as a man. The other Angels related story is that, well,
if you remember rewind New York, look at a freaking
flamp via Ron Washington said in the beginning of the season,

(09:43):
no phones in the clubhouse for the Angels, And what
did we say on our show? Covino and Rich. Hey man,
it's not a bad idea because no matter what, it'll
never go back to that. If they stink this year,
it'll never go back to well because they didn't have
their phones. Ye, right, So it can only work, it
can only help, it can't hurt. And now that the

(10:04):
Angels are surprisingly good, there's some people that are saying
maybe they are forming some type of chemistry because Ron
Washington's stance was all these young kids are not forming
the camaraderie and clubhouse relationships because pregame and postgame they're
all just sitting in the little their little spot on

(10:24):
their phone scrolling. Well, here's the thing too, you talk
about building chemistry, right, let's go back to the Masters
again and the wonderful footage and pictures you're seeing from
the event when you have your phone, you're really doing
it for other people to brag. Like we said, right,
it's a brag. It really is. Let's be real, it's
a social media brag. Like I'm here. It has to

(10:46):
be because I don't think anyone could argue the following statement. No,
buthd On, you're there with your narcissism, You're there with
your It's all about me right now, and I'm gonna
enjoy this. Right when you put the phone down, what
are you doing? You're experiencing that with everybody. You're in
that together, So you're in that moment together versus I'm
in this moment with me and my phone. And that's

(11:06):
the difference. So I think the sporting events what makes
them great is you're a bunch of strangers cheering for
one team, one goal, one purpose, and you're when you're
taking the phone out, you're losing that bond. I have
a rule that I'm going to throw in here that
that I think what we could all agree upon. But
I just want to let it be known. I think
we could all agree on one thing. There's no way

(11:30):
your lame ass point of view footage on your phone
is better than the professionals that do this. If you're
part of a cool moment, it can mean I's right.
It all always comes back to look at me, look
at me, brag bag brag, look at where I was
at this concert event or something, and we're all guilty
of But I'm not gonna I'm not gonna sit here
and be like, never done that. We all do it,

(11:52):
learn from it, We all do it, but just be
cognizant that you're doing it. And here's my role. If
you go to a concert, record ten seconds on your
phone of the hook of the song so you can
be like, look, i'm here, you go to see Metallica,
Give me a fuel, give me five, give me that
would desire? Who stop recording? Now, enjoy the rest of
the show. Post your ten seconds on your Instagram story,

(12:16):
or take you back three singles? Max? How about that three?
You could like? I was at the Mets A's game yesterday.
Know what I did? I took a couple pictures of
my favorite players in the on deck circle because we
were right there, like, oh, quick picture picture. And then
one time I was like, hey, look at this cool view.
Rest of the time, watch the game. We can't deny

(12:36):
that people want it. Take in the moment. But it's
fascinating to me when you go to a concert and
people are recording four minutes of a song. What are
we doing? You want more proof? The season three White
Lotus series that's very controversial, very polarizing. Fifty percent of
the people love it. The other fifty like, hey, I

(12:56):
ain't got it, which is pretty much our life, right,
can't agree on anything. If the Ratcliffe family in this story,
if they would have had their phones on their vacation,
the vacation would have been ruined, because the storyline goes
like they would have been receiving bad news the entire

(13:18):
time had they had their phones. But because the resort
made them put their phones away, they didn't even know
what was going on. So they were in the moment
with each other, having a great time. And again, I'll
bring it back to what Danny g said. The only
reason that you could say you need your phone when
you're at a special event or vacation or a moment

(13:39):
like this is if for whatever reason, you need to
check in on your kid. But then again, we went
on for years without that. But that really is the
only feeling of like, well, they need it. It's a crutch.
I get it for that, God forbid. Time something goes
wrong and you are needed, you want to be accepted.
Ninety nine point nine percent of the time you can
have your you aren't watched, though, ninety nine point nine

(14:02):
percent of the time you are not needed. I promise
generations went by where mom or dad was gone, you
were playing whiffleball, a town away, riding your bike. No
one knew where you were. We survived. Yeah, you're gonna
be fine. So I think it could start at the
dinner table. A lot of people do that already, but
incorporated at a sporting event. You're there, you bought those tickets,

(14:24):
what so you could look through your phone or the
concert or whatever, but sporting events. I think that's a
really good take, not just a hot take. I think
it's a good take. And you're there, You're in the moment.
Enjoy the moment with the fans and your friends that
you're there with. And if you're just joining us, Cavino,
please just read the page. Sporadic tweet that got this
conversation started because the masterress was beautiful over the weekend.

(14:46):
No phones allowed, and this is what she said. Hot take,
but I wish all sporting events banned phones. It was
so special to see everyone enjoying the moment and just
being present. And you notice that in the clips, you
do well. I did to bring up a couple quick
things to wrap up this thought, and then we'll move
on to some NBA stuff. Number One, I broke my

(15:06):
phone about a week ago before I had a chance
to go to the Apple store. And get a new screen,
replace and everything. I felt lost it for a minute.
I felt lost in the sauce in reality, like, oh
my god. And then after about a half hour or
so or an hour, then you start to feel this weird,
liberating feeling. And then after a couple hours you're like,

(15:29):
this is not that bad. Someone needs me. I'm a
little worried about that. But then you're like, man, no
one really needs me, and very quickly you realize, wow,
you look at your phone every ten seconds. I went
to the Apple store, Danny. They said, Sarah, you know,
it's been some nerd. That was very unbusy, but made
it seem like come back in forty minutes. That forty minutes,

(15:51):
I walked around the mall waiting for the Apple store
to be ready for me. Just looking around, I felt
like I was in a foreign land. I couldn't be reached,
like I was off the grid. No one can find me. Yeah,
it's a weird feeling. But you said something really interesting
there too, which is right. And I'm the biggest culprit.
By the way, we're not preaching. We know we all
do this. We're all guilt. I do. I look at

(16:12):
my phone every ten seconds. That's misery. Your dog's there
barking at you because it just wants your attention, just
wants you to pet it. And you're looking at your phone,
your kids tugging on your pant leg, you're looking at
page Sporadic. On social media, just your tweets of question, right,
just your tweets, tweets, your tweets, yes, just making sure
he's ad tweets, tweets. You're looking at smut, You're looking

(16:34):
at you know, ridiculous stuff. Be in the moment. That's
the reminder, at least try. Let's all make an attempt
to be better. People start with sports? Why not? I
love the thought by Sporadic. Here's the next thing. I
want to start a business. And you could say, hey, dummy,
this business exists already, but I feel like it's the

(16:56):
I don't know why they don't do it more. Okay,
how many times do you go to a kid's concert
at the school, at the rec center, at the church
as well. Your kids are doing some type of performance
and every f and parent, hundreds of parents phone up.
They should be like, hey, listen, phones away. They do that,

(17:16):
but it doesn't happen at every school let's hire a
top level videographer and for ten bucks, we'll send you
a digital version of this and we'll scan it so
everyone's kid gets a little shine. It's I'll be honest,
imagine being a kid. You're on the risers singing a
Christmas song and you look into the crowd and it's

(17:38):
just hundreds of parents like, oh, well, they're smartphones up.

Speaker 4 (17:42):
I've seen them announce this at some of the school events,
rich and they're still parents lifting up their phones, even
though they asked them not to because there was a
pro there doing it for everybody.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
They do that because it's some money grab too, though,
Richter I to preach good. They then put it on
DVD so that everybody could buy it. But you can
take your own photo with Santa. But no, you got
to use their service just to get the photo.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
No.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
I got yelled at. You know that I almost got
a fight with Santa. I said, I almost punched Santa
Claus once. And I'll tell you how I was told.
I said, I'll buy your eighty dollars over price package,
but can I I'm gonna take one with my phone too,
and like you can, I'm like, well, I probably can.
This a public We're in the mall. But okay, and
I went to take like, no, put away your almost

(18:26):
got a fight with an elf. It almost went down.
I put my money on the elf. Put The point
is put away your phones and enjoy the concert. And
it brings me to one quick meme I saw and
this is not just it's it's a real thing. Coach
Rabel establishes new rules as head coach of the Patriots,
and one of the rules has to do with phone.
So tell me what you think of Coach Mike Rabel's

(18:48):
new policies as the coach of the Patriots. Number one,
no hood's up in meetings. And I liked this because
a lot of young dudes, it's almost like a you
put if you put your hoodie hood up, like sleeping
in a way, you know what I'm saying, Like picture
a bunch of dudes in a room or a classroom
or an auditorium. It's a look of I'm disengaged. And
it's also a look of I'm covering up my headphones

(19:09):
because I'm not listening.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Or clip of Lebron asking the three kids in the
stands to take their hoods down, like.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
The hood up is more of a I'm disengaged, Like
you're right, I could have my headphones on. I'm not
paying attention, so hoods down or I don't want to Yeah,
I don't want to be here kind of look. So
the biding language is not good.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
I agree. You see kids do that when it's ninety
five degrees out in California.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Optically it doesn't seem engaging. So Coach raybelt rule number one,
no hoods up in meetings interesting though, because I've never
heard that. I've never heard this, So that's a really
interesting point that he's making there, because think about it,
you've got a bunch of young dudes in their twenties.
If you hoods up, I feel like they're hiding headphones underneath,
they're really not engaged. Hood down, headphones off. Watch Coach.

(19:52):
I like that. Number two, be on time, and if
you're gonna be late, just call geez. The fact that
this is a rule goes to show you how much
we're slipping in society. Beyond time. I thought that was
like a just a given, especially at that level of
professional but of course beyond time. But if you're gonna
be late, a lot of times when someone's not gonna
be on time. They just show up with he's saying, listen,
be on time. But if you're not, just is he

(20:13):
telling them to brush their teeth in the morning, Like
I thought, that's a given. Man, you gotta make this
an official rule. That's ridiculous. Treat the training crew, equipment,
kitchen staff, and all employees with respect at all times. Hey, man,
I don't find anything wrong with it. But the fact
again that this is a rule is why you're telling

(20:34):
people to treat people with respect beyond time, be engaged.
And the last one is no smartphones or cell phones
in the meetings or in the weight room. Meetings or
weight room. I mean, I think that's great and it's
a great start. It's like, hey, this is where we're
we're interacting, we're building chemistry, we're a team. And I

(20:55):
like it because it's not over the top either. Coveno.
It's not like no smartphones any time, right, I think
very reasonable boundaries. So just to show you that if
you don't think professional sports and the fan experience has
a smartphone problem right now, they absolutely do without a doubt.
Schools as well. Right we're seeing these rules becoming a

(21:19):
thing we think we're we're seeing a little bit of
a pushback, and I'm all for it. All right, Well,
I think I think that's a conversation in itself, maybe
for another day, But I don't know. The school of
the phones in schools, we crutch on the same thing,
like what if there's an emergency. Guess what when there
was ever an emergency when you were a kid, got
for me, like you know, grandma got sick, you got

(21:40):
call to the office, and it was like, hey, your
mom's on the phone. Like why we making it seem
like kids don't need their cell phones in school. You
don't need your cell phone or smartphone at the Masters,
at a comedy event or the ball game. We're addicted
everyone the end. That is true. Okay, So again we're
Cavino and rich In for Dan Patrick, NBA next and yeah,

(22:04):
little NBA also a two prong lebron sort of thought here.
Isaiah Thomas went adam this weekend, so we got to
talk about that too again. So if you want to
chime in, the numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine, on Fox,
if you want to play along at home is at

Good day, I said, good Daysten to con and Rich.
Let's have a great week, a week where the NBA

(23:37):
Playoffs start playing games this week, which would be a
lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Right now, we're live from Mercedes Benz Studios. Thank you
again for hanging out with us. We'll be here obviously today,
tomorrow and Wednesday, the Dan Patrick Hatrick and we're on
the streets possibly next Tuesday as well. So I'm gonna
go to the phones now eight seven to seven ninety
nine on Fox. Just talking about no phones at the
sporting events for now, right, we should have no phones

(24:02):
at the dinner table. You would think that these are
just manners, right, this is the understood way, But I
guess we're sitting the guidelines. Well, you know, Mike who
runs this place. Who Mikey, the guy that runs Iheartened
Premiere got out there in the hallway Mike. Mike said
the problem is that no one really knows how to

(24:23):
behave in the social media smartphone era, we're almost sort
of establishing the rules as we go along, and that
is that's a great point, like this is all uncharted territory.
It's like it took us a long time to get
to this point online bullying AI. When new things come
into our lives, we're trying to figure out, like, all right,
what are the rules on this? And I think we're realizing, yeah,

(24:43):
maybe you shouldn't have your phone out everywhere you go.
I agree, dinner table nothing ruder. Imagine meaning a single
person on a date and while you're trying to engage
and meet someone new, every ten seconds, they're looking at
their phone. Barf, yeah, no bueno. Imagine you're trying to
actually connect with your family and your teenage kids don't
put down their iPad or smartphone the whole time. Like,

(25:04):
come on, if you see the footage in the highlights
from the Masters this weekend, of course you see McElroy
in tears, he well, tears of joy he just won
four points something million dollars right in his first green jacket.
But you also see everyone in the crowd. There was
one guy with a nail in his head. No, that
was happy, Gilmore, that was happy gilmose. There was one
guy who's like you jackass, Nomery goes, that's mister mclroy's jacket.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Oh wait, no, can I ask you, because I don't
know how it's worked at the Masters, but a lot
of sporting events you have to show the ticket on
your phone to get in. And then also at sporting
events a lot of people pay with their phone.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
That's one other hurd all there.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
I mean, I don't know they figured it out though.
So you see everyone there at the Masters. None of
the fans have their phone out. There was no phones
at this event, which means people actually bonded and enjoyed
the moment together. How nice is that? How great is
that mention? You are so addicted to your phone you
smuggled it up like like you just say like you
would you needed at that bad You're like, I don't

(26:04):
have my phone. Come on, we're that addicted. I'm for
sure people will do that. The fact you're thinking about
that I have to make. Now let's go to you guys.
What's that vibrating sound? Oh? Ryan and Cincy, you're on
with Covino and Rich and for DP. What's up?

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Man?

Speaker 2 (26:17):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Ryan, Yeah, man cozy calling you on a flip phone,
and I am telling you it is one of the
most underrated things ever. I am engaged all the time
and everything that I'm doing while everyone walks around like
zombies doing anything.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
You take to die, bab You know you.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Made me think of you ever get to a party late.
You show up to a party late and everybody's drunk
and acting the fool and you're the only guy who's
sober because everyone's been there partying the whole time. But
you feel like I gotta imagine on everybody because I'm
sharp and everyone's acting like an idiot. That's how he
must feel, walking around looking at everybody like zombies, Like
I got one on everybody because I'm in the moment,

(26:58):
I'm in the zone. I'm I'm sharp, and everyone else
here is brain dead on Instagram. Everyone. Here's I'll give
you the rub, because there's gonna be two sides to
all this, right, here's the rub. If you're like our
pal Ryan too much and you're a flip phone. I
don't even have a smartphone. I think that is a
decent idea. It's not the worst idea. You're just judging it.

(27:19):
Because it looks like, what are you from the early
nineteen hundreds? Break out your boot cut jeans, buddy, MySpace
pits too. No, but when you have like I just
got a flip phone, I don't engage in that stuff.
You very quickly become out of the loop.

Speaker 5 (27:35):
Guy.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
And I'll tell you how I know this. There are
days where, believe it or not, I'm I'm busy doing
stuff where I don't have my phone on me, meaning
I'm coaching my kids, and sometimes like hours will go
by and you'll miss something, and then later that day
I'll be like, Yo, what's up? Covino's like, how did
you not see this? And I'm like, I, You're We're
so into the have you seen Wait, you haven't seen

(27:58):
that meme? You haven't seen this, You don't that story?
Youn't you haven't seen that highlight? Yeah, you don't want
to be the guy who doesn't know. I get it.
It's it's a balance Jason and Oregon. What's up, Bud?
But honestly, that's also the world you and I live in.
We need to know. Yeah, you're like Mark Anthony in
the two thousands. I'm definitely like Mark Anthony. I need
to know. We need, like not everybody needs to know

(28:20):
that Katie Perry's in out of space right now. It
doesn't matter. So you didn't know that this morning, Well
we didn't have your phone or something though, because guess
what I was in the moment at a ballgame this weekend.
What's up Jason in Oregon? You're on with SR Hey,
what's up?

Speaker 7 (28:33):
Guys? Thanks Frillin and I appreciate it. Okay, So, my
wife and I founded a naturally ranked youth football program,
and most of the parents spend the most time we're
looking at their phones and the clips that they get
as opposed to watching their kids and cheering them on
and supporting them. So that's why are work against it, honestly, bro.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Can I tell you something that we're setting the guidelines? Guys,
let me tell you something really sad I saw, and
I mean not not sad like tragic, said like, just like,
there's a little girl on my softball team. I coach
my daughter's eight you softball, and I coach my son's
the one you play on. I was like, dude, your
team can't be that competitive. Then yeah, I play on
eight you girl softball. I'm like Kramer when he did karate.

(29:15):
So there's this cute little girl on my team that
you coach who is a beginner, like she's the new
beat of the team, and she got her first hit,
like first time she made contact off of coach pitch
or kid pitch. I'm like, I'm like, yeah, you go,
I look in the stands no, s her mom's on

(29:37):
her phone and missed it. And I'm like, your daughter's
up in kids sports? How often? Give you no thing
about you that's miserab You watch your nephew James. You
go to his game every Saturday, right, what does he
get up every two three innings? And by the way,
you can't put that in your phone for the day cap.
Most of these little leagues capture or stream it anyway.

(29:59):
But I'm saying, how often is your kid up? If
you're watching your kid play baseball or softball every hour,
you've been getting that bat. Yeah, that's so sad. Oh
so yeah, just we're just too addicted Seawan and Sacramento
Yo show. We should have how much Sean when we
were in Sacktown yesterday, what's that Buddy Man, my favorite
co host in the morning time when y'all not doing

(30:21):
your own show man.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
I was just telling Danny g it was like the
worst thing happened this weekend. Man, I was looking forward
to y'all coming down, but unfortunately my uncle passed away.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Yes, I'm sorry, one.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
Of your biggest fans to rest in peace, uncle Pepeteo.
But this is the perfect example. Man, at the viewing
one of my aunties, not his wife, but one of
my aunties. During the eulogy, we're all blubbering, you know,
saying our goodbye. Whips out her cell phone ever records
everybody crying, getting a little get a little fluster, but

(30:55):
everybody crying, everybody's paying by to our uncle, and then
post it and all of it was the greatest.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Oh, Sean, that's I'm by the way, Sean, I'm so
sorry to hear about your uncle. Yeah, rest and his
uncle Pepeteo. And yeah, Sean, you know it's even more
more said when you see some of these services, I
think it's you know, I get it, people grieve in
different ways. I think it's sort of disgusting when I
see people post videos of like at a coffin.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
It's tacky.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
And I also think it's tacky when it's like Grandma's
real sick and like the old disheveled version of her
in the hospital bed, where it's like, hey, like, do
you think she wants ninety five year old version of
her in the hospital bed?

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Those are supposed to be private moments.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Like when people post selfies. I get it. Everyone has
a different way of grieving and accepting. But I'm like,
guess what I'm gonna tell the message now on national airwave.
So when I'm all, hey, kids, I'm talking to my
son and daughter, Ben and Emmy. If I live in nice,
long life like ninety something, don't you post anything when
I'm sitting in a hospital bed one ninety five? I think, yeah,
b and be after you soiled yourself, can't try soil theself. Yeah,

(32:01):
here's my dad Rich, he's ninety six. He he soiled himself.
He used to be on the radio, remember him. Yeah,
now he pooped his pants. Look at him in the hospital.
Bet he's almost dying. He's ninety something.

Speaker 4 (32:12):
Two K.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Yeah, rest in peace, Uncle Pepito, And thank you guys
again for hearing us out. Start at the dinner table,
but bring it into the ball game. Why not enjoy
the game? Now? Lots of great basketball.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Rich.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
I know you're really intrigued with the playoff picture here.
Well you know why, because I the one thing I
didn't want to happen. I feel like, you know, come
football time, I'm the guy that's looking at the playoff
simulator way early, and you make fun of me, like
I'm looking at it, like what matchups do I want?
I'm like, I'm mapping it out weeks before the wildcard
rounds week eight, dude, I've been mapping out the NBA

(32:48):
playoffs so the last week or so, like, oh, come on,
I don't know. What I did not want was Lakers
three seed Warrior six seed, because I feel like, just
as a as a an NBA fan and probably what's
good for the league, you don't want those teams facing
each other in Round one. You'd probably want those teams
to face later on Steph Lebron. These guys, that's only

(33:11):
so many runs left in them, right. So the fact
that the Warriors lost yesterday, I sort of like this
because that means we don't have to get those two
teams in the first round together. But we'll go with
the playoff picture. We'll go with the playing games. But again,
a couple Lebron thoughts, and I think you and I
are going to disagree on all of them, which is
so typical. All right, so we want your thoughts. Chime

(33:33):
in Next at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
there's more Coveno and rich In for Dan Patrick.

Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern, six am Pacific

(34:10):
Cavino and Rich Monday through Friday five to seven on
the East and over Promised is our bonus show. You
could watch it on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Last
week we had Coach ballgame on and if you're into
kids sports, or if you're a coach or oh he's
the best man. You have family members in little league
or anything. Coach ballgame was great, James Low check it out.

(34:32):
That's on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. He's a big
Dan Patrick fan. So shout out to Coach ballgame and
thank you guys for hanging out with us. We appreciate it.
We're live from Mercedes Benz Studios now. Not only a
big weekend for baseball, Rich We were there at the
Mets game over the weekend, the Masters, of course, some
good fights you already mentioned, Volkanovsky with the decision, Patty

(34:57):
the Battie looking like a badass over the weekend, Boots
Ennis looking like the Sugar Ray Leonard of our generation.
Some great fights, basketball heating up. Lebron James in the
news for first off, A couple of reasons, A couple reasons.
First off, that Ken doll, he's a Kenbassador. It's a
hot item. I want, I want to that's funny. He

(35:20):
was one of those Ken Barbie. One of the stories.
We actually talked about it last week. The new Lebron
James Barbie Dolls called le Ken or he called it
La Ken jokingly, but it's a Lebron James Barbie doll.
And he's a combassador because you know, it's an honor
because of what he does for the community and his
style and his professionalism and his status as an NBA legend.

(35:44):
And when they released it, you see how good it looks.
It looks really good. It's like, well, that's a really cool,
actually owned figure doll if you will. But over the weekend,
Rich it caused a lot of a lot of stir
because there was a lot of people online fighting for
these things and you said you wanted one. Actually was
the equal number of people making fun of it. And

(36:05):
to that, I say, Barbie is one of the biggest
brands in toys and action figures and dolls. Listen, every
little girl and some boys have Barbie dolls. My daughter
has a ton of Barbie. So if other than Ken,
if you're telling me, Lebron James is the guy that
gets his own doll for that brand, a very detailed

(36:27):
doll too and cool. Yeah, I don't think it was.
It wasn't done incorrectly anyway. In fact, right, it makes
them look cool. They have him dressed well, looking cool,
and I think it's an honor for Lebron James. So absolutely,
I got a little murse. He's got a little like Fana.
Why can't we just think of it, guys as like
a little g I Joe doll. I mean the same build.

(36:48):
You know, well, the old original g I Joe's were
about that size. So it's just like it's a Lebron
Joe doll. I listen, I don't think there's anything corny
about that. We can put that debate to rep. That's
an honor and it's a good looking doll. It just
goes to show you how big he is. He's he's
he's part of the Barbie world. Now that's wild. Every

(37:11):
other athlete just has like a Funko Pop or a
starting lineup back in the day. I have a funk
Go Pop, you see what I mean? Like that, this
is next level, So props to him, and I like
that he's leaning into that honor. So the Lebron doll
people debating if it's lame, if it's cool, rich actually
wants when Now that's a little little much if you
were saying for your daughter. I'm one, I'm not much

(37:33):
of a collector of stuff like this, but I feel
like it's one of those things that you get and
I think one day it's gonna be like one of
those hot hot items because I know it's a limited
limited edition. You know, it's like very few action figures
in dolls I collected in my life when I was true,
when I was a kid, I had all those Remember
the big rubber wrestling figures that you could kill your
sibling with because they were so heavy. Yeah, you throw

(37:53):
the big John stud at your sibling and give them
a concussion. Yeah, I had those, had he Man toys,
and that's where I ended. So for me to say, oh,
and I had my Gary Carter and Dwight good in
starting lineups. I'm not a collector of these things, but
I think the Lebron Dany g Ubi doll is a
collector's is a big Lakers guy, So.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
I would put one on my memorabilia schelf.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
You're asking Santa for one this year, Danny, you buy
one for your son and you're like, oh, where they go?
Ended up in michaellection. If you get one of if Danny,
if you get one of your Easter basket, You're gonna
be the luckiest little boy in LA. And only some
were signed by Lebron, making them even more valuable. Right,
guys in the Fairfax District here in LA that were
lined up for, like, you know, hundreds of feet deep
to get one of these and some were signed. So

(38:35):
that was the big story, Like there was there was
lines around the block for these things. So that's part one.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Just dolls have movable joints because you know, did you
see Lebron on the floor in the final regular season game?

Speaker 2 (38:49):
It doesn't have flopping action the doll.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
No, how about pulled groins. Well, the other story is.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
How Isaiah Thomas went off on Lebron James because Lebron
James was taking warm ups, just practicing with no shirt on.
Here's what NBA legend Isaiah Thomas said about it.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
I just totally one hundred percent object to this. And
if that was the GM of coach Drew, I would
never let one of my players walk out on the
floor looking like this. I mean, we are professional NB
A league. We ain't we ain't summer league.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
We ain't.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
We ain't you know at the y MC as, I
think coaches got to go back to suits.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Me reslutely.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
You know, I just I just think, I just I
just think the professionalism in all nb A league has
diminished so much and and I look, I like Lebron.
I'm a fan of here and so forth and so on,
But to walk out on the floor before a game

(40:00):
with no shirt on and shoot, I mean, come on, man,
this where we at?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
What we doing?

Speaker 1 (40:07):
Where we at now?

Speaker 3 (40:09):
If you want to Adam Silva, if you want to
find somebody time that.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Now, I have my thoughts. I want you guys to
think about it. Fox Sports Radio Nation. You probably saw
the highlights throughout the weekend. He's just on the court
with the sweatpants, no shirt. You may have heard this clip.
What are your thoughts on this? Because I'll tell you what.
I have my thoughts. But he did seem a little
angry about it, like oddly angry about it. Isaiah Thomas

(40:34):
must have this thing where he wants to anger legends.
I remember remember like the decades long beef with him
and Michael Jordan. Now is he trying to start something
with Lebron? He goes, I'd like, Lebron, this sounds like,
you know, in relationships, what do they say in a
marriage or in a dating scenario? Pick your battles this
slow news day, Isaiah Thomas, you had nothing to talk

(40:54):
about on your podcast or whatever he was doing because
Lebron James shooting warm ups without a shirt on. I
see zero problem with I can't imagine how someone would
have a problem with it. Sometimes when you sometimes when
you look for a problem, you can find a problem anywhere.

(41:16):
It's like if you go through someone's phone, you'll find something.
I feel like Isaiah Thomas is trying to find something
to be mad at. No, we don't often see that,
so it does stand out. This is the NBA. Where
do you see that at the playground or the YMCA.
And by the way, this he's chiseled. They are people jealous.
This wasn't on some random podcasts. Either he may have
heard it or seen a clip of it on a

(41:36):
random podcast. This was on NBA TV. So your thoughts,
should there be a better sense of professionalism or not?
I kind of agree with Isaiah Thomas. I'm just not
mad about it. We got more next
