operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Luca
and Lebron, they weren't together for too long, but they
reunite and give it one more go, or maybe a

(00:48):
little more than that. Lebron with one more year on
his deal, Luca's got to look around and go, what's
the future this team? In a year or so, when
Lebron decides to retire, we'll talk to Dave mcmanhamon of
the Mothership. He covers the Lakers. He'll join us coming up. Also,
I just found out that we are going to be

(01:09):
on Celebrity Family Feud. Steve Harvey reached out, he said,
would you like to be on Celebrity Family Feud? And
I said I would Who am I going to be

(01:31):
on with? And then he said, well your team, and
I go, oh okay. I thought it was on with
other celebrities, but we are going to be going against
the Rich Eisen Show.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I got to brush up on my Family Feud. I
haven't watched in a while. There's usually a clip, and
there's usually a clip where Steve Harvey will look to
the camera and just give you that look like what
just happened? Guaranteed to have at least one of those
because of you, Fritzy, when we do Celebrity Family Feud.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I think we do this in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Maybe we could rehearse because we have to be all
together here on this.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Can you can you rehearse? Marvin?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
More importantly, what are we wearing?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Oh? I don't you know?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
They actually did give me a printout of what to
wear and not wear. I'll share that with Actually, actually
maybe I shouldn't share it with you. I'll just let
you wear what you want to wear surveys.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
Are we gonna be all supportive of each other? Good answer,
good answer, even one of us.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
That's a horrible answer that we know is not up there.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
We do that now, like I do that for you? Yes, yes,
but yeah, we do have to fake our love for
one another here?

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Is that what we're gonna do?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Think? So there?

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah? Yeah? Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
What's what's the most important thing here? To be entertaining
or to win? Do we want to have goofy answers?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
No, I think we got to take it verse seriously
and win.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
I think it'd be pretty entertaining to win.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Personally, you're caught up on this winning thing, like the
Sports Emmy. You want to win it. I just want
to get nominated, Like you put too much pressure on us.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
No, I don't so win, No, I don't.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, yeah we feel the pressure. Oh, like it could
be a disappointment if we don't win. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
Yes, it is a disappointment when we don't win over
and over again. Yes, at this point the first time
we were like, wow, I can't believe we're nominated. That
we're nominated again. It's like there's sixth time now or something.
Let's win one it's a stupid yes.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
I have two questions. One, do we know what charity
we want to play for?

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Secondly, if we do win, and then you got to
have the bonus round, you got to pick two people
from the group to try to get the two hundred
points to win the charity mode.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Oh boy, that's.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
A can of worms right there. Only two can play
that final part of family Feud big money.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Okay, you're going to be in the final.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Got the decision to yeah, yeah, because no? I Okay,
you guys don't. So nobody wants Todd in the in
the final round.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
I'm just curious why that You were so quick to
say that, Well.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
It just feels like he's very creative, you know, imagination.
He loves these game shows and he's probably watched them
quite a bit.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Or you're setting me up for failure.

Speaker 7 (04:31):
Names You're right, what is better content to say? That's
what I always though when I was in fourth grade,
the one I did a paper on ustrochow. I thought
that would make great pets.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Okay, something you put on a hamburger blooney, Wow.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
You don't put a salami on there either, pass Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
One of those pasts where you just get zero one.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Okay, maybe this isn't a good idea, but we did
agree to be on celebrity family feud, Yes.

Speaker 8 (04:59):
Todd and press situations. You have no idea which way
it's going to go. If you go back to Sports Jeopardy,
that didn't go well, he would self implode.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yes, that did not go well. He panicked.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
See that's what concerns me. When you get on the clock,
you might panic.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Todd.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Well, I know the one was instead of saying the
giants won the pennant, I went with and they're going
crazy is the way I thought that was the answer.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
And you didn't do it in the form of a question.
And they're going crazy.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
I didn'tswer what is the going I'm obvious to the
whole world. And the giants won the pen. They're going crazy,
and they're going crazy.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Now, let me go back to one of my initial questions.
Are we trying to entertain or we try to win?

Speaker 6 (05:42):
Okay, would you rather lose and be entertaining or boring
and win.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
I'd rather lose and be entertaining. Wrong, No, you want
to go viral. That's what it's about. If the kids
like to go viral?

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Wrong, yes, why got to be both though I don't
think get off the purposely gives silly answers. We can
try to win, but we can still be engaging in
fun with Steve Harvey and the the Eisen guys. This
ways to be entertaining and still be uh. I don't
say cutthroat, but want to ultimately win the game. I
think we can accomplish both of those.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
Then, Okay, who do we want? Then? What's it called?
What's the final big money?

Speaker 7 (06:13):
Is that?

Speaker 8 (06:13):
What's going?

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Fast money? Play for fast money?

Speaker 9 (06:16):
All right?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Thanks money, fast Money? Who do we want as the
two people to play for fast money?

Speaker 10 (06:23):
Todd?

Speaker 4 (06:23):
Do you want to be in that situation?

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Do we want Todd?

Speaker 6 (06:28):
And that he's up?

Speaker 3 (06:29):
The other question? Then do you want to go first?
A second?

Speaker 5 (06:31):
If the first person only gets you like seventy three
points and now the second one is to bring it
home and get another one hundred and twenty seven, that's
the other part you want.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Marvin, would you like to be in fast Money on
Celebrity Jeopardy or whatever it is celebrity family Feud?

Speaker 11 (06:45):
No, but Seaton's my first pick. Oh see, that's I
think he's really quick. And then he's well versed in
different subjects.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Okay, yeah, see.

Speaker 7 (06:57):
Yeah, I don't know anything about anything but my two picks.
We'll be calling Marvin. Oh, okay, I think sports wise,
of anybody on this side of the glass, for sure,
they know more about it. But is it just sports
or is it all stuff? I think it's all stuff.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I don't Yeah, I didn't know it was a sports jeopardy.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
I'm just asking them.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know that.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
Are they just going to do that or is it
going to be like Indiana Jones movies like oh crap.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Yes, Paul, I.

Speaker 8 (07:30):
Like to think I'm quick, and in sports jeopardy, I
feel confident. But this is not trivia. This is more
like common sense answers to what you would think would
be a basic question.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
The number one foods at ballparks and then you have
to go sushi, No, you do hot dog, and then
you know they're not shows. So you know those kind
of questions and locks no peanuts, peanuts, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 11 (08:05):
The answers that come that are gonna be tricky is
when you're playing fast money. It's like feeling the blank
peanut butter in blank. You'll say jelly. When the second
guy comes on, Steve Harvey's gonna ask that again. He's
gonna say peanut butter in.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Arsenalow, Yeah, fluff, yeah, bananas.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
Oh nice, peanut butter and banana Simus.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
That's nice.

Speaker 8 (08:26):
I'll get you eight points.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 11 (08:27):
You won't have a lot of time because it's only
twenty five seconds to answer those during Fast Money.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
But that was just brought up by a listener to
me to say that Dan, you know there's a time
limit on those answers. Todd doesn't do very well, hasn't
had a one word answer in five years. Are okay
if Steve Harvey says, you know, whatever the question is,
and then you go, I was gonna say.

Speaker 5 (08:51):
I was gonna ask about his commute in and how
far he lives from you know, the family.

Speaker 8 (08:55):
Yes, yeah, this is a different animal than Sports Jeopardy.
It is Marvin's right, what's that obvious first answer like
ballpark food, hot dog? Then you're if you have to
go second, that's where people get tripped.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Up the moon.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeah, I'm okay with that if that's the question, But
you know, if they get too deep on something and
then you're like you get one that's obvious, and then
it's the other ones where you say something stupid.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Yes, yes, we're gonna.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
Have to run through this a bunch because I'm I'm
actually getting nervous about it. That's probably a bad sign.
We're gonna have to run through this, Okay, a couple
times fast money. I gotta practice this stuff.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Yeah, but I need to know what the topics are going, like,
are they sports related topics or can we request sports
related topics for celebrity family feud? Maybe we can't. Maybe
I'll reach out and say, what about this? Maybe that
would be beneficial to both sides. With the Rich Eisen Show.
And once again, when we get there, they're not friends. Okay, No,

(09:55):
that's the enemy. We're not shaking hands, we're.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
Not doing that nice part of a family feud.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Then no, that's now, I thought, and my wife said, well,
isn't the feud within your own team or is it
with the other team that you're facing. I don't, I said,
I don't know. There could be a feud between us
by the time it's all said and done.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Yes, when Steve.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Says gimme Dan, gimme Rich, and you guys got to
come out, you know, hit the buzzer first when he
asked the question, You're not gonna shake heads. You're just
going to stare him down because you kind of do
that initial handshake when you get to the middle there
and won against one.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I'm gonna go burden magic, just saying, just saying, we're
not doing Isaiah and Magic.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
Am I going to do that?

Speaker 5 (10:34):
It's expected to do the handshake as a family food
sportsmanship thing when you.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Go up to God. I'm out to win. I want
to dominate. Okay, you can win.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
With classes, share hands with the opponent, and then just win.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
I am Tyrese Halliburton's dad.

Speaker 8 (10:52):
Fair enough, Yes, Paul, Can we get the category skewed
towards US five and against Isisen's people's knowledge? Like remember
Cliff Clavin on Jeopardy. Yeah, imagine if the first category
was Cincinnati reads from the seventies and you run up
there and then.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
It's yeah, I'd be good with that.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
All right.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
So that's that's exciting news. We're going to be officially
labeled celebrities celebrity family feud.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Yes, Todd, my mom was all excited about that.

Speaker 5 (11:23):
I mentioned the prospect of something like that happening because
she's all about the game show network, and she'll watched
game shows from like nineteen eighty three that you know
hasn't happened in forty years, and she just can't wait
for whenever that's gonna air.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Well, I wonder where you got that from loving game shows? Yeah,
that are like forty three years old.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
I'm watching nineteen seventy four Prices right to see the
hair news and the outfits.

Speaker 7 (11:45):
In yeas Seaton Cliff Clavin's Uh, this is obviously super dated,
but his categories from Jeopardy right on the show Cheers guy,
the categories were civil.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
Servants because he's a male.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
Amps from around the world, mothers and sons, beer bar, trivia,
and celibacy, genius. They're all exactly him. That's what that
was a great episode of Cheers. Soon, all right, we'll
play fill in the blank.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Coming up.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Misty in Illinois joins us, Hi, Missy, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Hey Dan, good morning, Good morning Misty.

Speaker 12 (12:29):
Well, the thing that you and the guys would care
to give my husband and best friend.

Speaker 13 (12:34):
A birthday shout out.

Speaker 12 (12:35):
He is thirty nine today.

Speaker 13 (12:37):
His name is Josh Hunter.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Anything else I need to know about Josh turning thirty nine.

Speaker 12 (12:42):
Misty, He's just a wonderful man. I've been with him
since I was seventeen, and I could not be happier
to have him in my life. And he is a
huge fan of yours.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
All righty, well, thank you for calling you guys ready
to give a shout out? Okay, thank you, mistery. I
hope that's what you had met in vision.

Speaker 7 (13:14):
It's been with him since I was seventeen, and even
though he was forty seven at all, and we really
have made it work all these years.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
All right, we have a Bellichi. We have a Belichickian
relationship here.

Speaker 10 (13:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Now, you got the battle of Belichick and his girlfriend
against CBS because Bill Belichick put out a lengthy statement
and said that, you know, the agreement was that CBS
was only going to ask questions about the book, and
CBS said no, there were no restrictions.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
None.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
If Bill Belichick said, hey, come on your show, but
you can't ask me anything about anything else other than
me winning, then I would say we're to pass. And
I'm going to guess CBS, you know, as much as
Bill may think we really care about winning, CBS cares
a whole lot more about you and your girlfriend and
that whole dynamic there, because your answers are probably not

(14:16):
that interesting. You're the greatest NFL coach of all time.
But if I'm going to try to, if I'm going
to give you five minutes and promote your book, I
got to get something more out of this, not going
to just go in there and go, yeah, you know what,
let's just talk about the book.

Speaker 7 (14:33):
Yeah, especially because you're like, so you didn't mention Robert Craft?
Huh no, why not?

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Why not? I mentioned? I didn't want to, so you're
even dud So, hey, how about your girlfriend?

Speaker 14 (14:43):
Then?

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Years maybe more interesting.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
You're asking about the book because he's not in the book,
but he had to do something to do with your
winning and then you're not even forthcoming with that.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yes, yeah, Pauling.

Speaker 8 (14:54):
The entire interview I checked was thirty five minutes, and
obviously they cut it down to about eighty if you
were CBS, and I have not seen that they've done.
So would you release the entire thirty five minutes in
context and see how much was interrupted or not.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
If I needed to. If I felt like I needed to, Yes,
then I would. Yes, Tom Is that.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
All publicity's good publicity for Navy. As far as what
he decided to wear in his sweatshirt there.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Well, I mean, as dad coach there, I just you're
employed by North Carolina. Wear a tar heel hoodie. I mean,
what are you doing? I just think it's you know,
he got bad advice there. If she's there to troubleshoot, Hey, Bill,
they're going to ask you this. You could still come

(15:40):
off as charming. You could say, hey, you know what,
I want to focus on the book. But you know,
we met because of a book. She gave me a
book or whatever it was, and I signed her book.
And okay, now I've given you a little bit. Maybe
you go away and then maybe you do talk about winning.
But when you said when she says no, we're not

(16:01):
talking about that, well, I don't know. I got to
come back in. I'm more interested. There's Instagram photos of
you on the beach. She's a mermaid, you're the Morton
Salt guy, she's your business partner. I gotta ask you
other questions. Yes, does an interviewer.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Really leave it there?

Speaker 10 (16:22):
Though?

Speaker 5 (16:22):
If he's willing to say, hey, we met on a plane,
I was going to such and such. There's got to
be a follow up there. The reason why you're asking
that is because you want to kind of sneak into Yeah,
and when did was it love at first sight? When
did you realize there was an intimacy kind of thing
there just by sitting together on the plane.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Thank you to That's always gonna be something else.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
All right, let's take a break. I don't know if
we've accomplished anything, but we will. Coming up Dave McManamon.
He is a journalist. He was there asking Lebron questions
about his future. We'll talk to Dave. He'll join us,
coming up next to your Dan Patrick show.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
We just agreed to be on Celebrity Family Feud that'll
be in a couple of weeks. We go against Rich
Eisen Rich Eisen Show, although Fritzi says it's probably a
good thing that Richard Dawson is no longer the host
because he kisses every guest mouth. He didn't kiss every guest,
he just kissed the beautiful women, didn't he.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
No matter what their age was, Grandma, daughter, Beyonce, and
he'd kissed them all right on the mouth, give a kiss.

Speaker 13 (18:28):
Look.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
But Todd, if you were Richard Dawson, you would do
the same thing.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
I might, But there was there was a couple where
there was some questionable ages, where like you're kissing the
guy's daughter. But it just seems very inappropriate even for
those times. It just I don't think I would kiss
every woman on the mouth. You know, I'm a hugger.
I don't know if I'm kissing I would give a
little peck on the cheek maybe, but I would still be.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Uncomfortable with that.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Dave McManaman he es be an NBA reporter. He was
there covering Game five last night, kind enough to get
up early, Dave, what did you expect to happen last night?

Speaker 10 (19:04):
I thought the Lakers would come out with a stronger efforts.
Seeing them fall down fourteen in the first quarter was
surprising to me. The stats were on their side. I
think ESPN aired a statistic going into the game that
since two thousand and three, the home team favored in
a Game five, even when they were down three to one.

(19:25):
Had won seventy five percent of those games. The Lakers
made it an effort. They did hold a lead in
the fourth quarter after both Lebron and Luca Doncies were
banged up, but they were outclassed the Wolves. When I
was walking out the arena with a couple of reporters
last night, we were discussing the series. I think the
Wolves beat the Lakers in every single aspect of the series.

(19:49):
And you know that's where you get the gentleman sweep.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
But you also get this fourth quarter domination, and that
speaks to I think Lebron and Luca the lack of
depth on this team. As you handicap what this team
might look like next year, Where's where's the infantry coming,
where are the reserves?

Speaker 10 (20:11):
Well, think about it. To acquire Luca, they traded two
rotation pieces and Anthony Davis and Max Christian got back one.
And I was talking to Lebron after the game last
night and he was marveling at the Wolves after losing
in the Western Conference finals last year, trading one rotation
piece in Karl Anthony Townsend getting back to Julius Randall

(20:32):
and Dat de di Vincenzo. So clearly this team needs
to address the middle the big man position, because JJ
Reddick didn't trust Jackson Hayes in the playoffs and he
was already considered kind of a backup playing above his role.
And then they need to get more depth in Game
five twenty two to four in bench scoring, that's not

(20:53):
going to get it done.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Yeah, and you go back to the previous game as well.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
You know, I think JJ rolled the dice in and
just said, look, I'm going with these guys.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
We got to win this game.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
If we don't win this game, we're probably not winning
this series.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
But can you do.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Grade JJ Reddick differently from the regular season to the postseason?

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Is that fair to do that?

Speaker 10 (21:15):
He's a first year head coach that had a very
successful regular season who ran into a team that, even
though they were ranked the sixth seed compared to his
three seed, there's only one win that separated them. They
were in the top ten in both offensive defense. They
won seventeen out of twenty one games coming into the postseason.

(21:35):
They're one of the toughest matchups in all of basketball.
That isn't to say that JJ is not going to
be kicking himself all summer long, and wonder if should
I really throw in Maxi Kleeber out there, if you
haven't played since January? Could I have put Gabe Vincent
in the start of the fourth quarter of Game four
to get Luca Dotches two minutes to rest. He's going
to go through these things in his head. But ultimately,

(21:58):
there's a stat that another stat that there is out
to me. Going into the playoffs, the Lakers starters for
Game one had played one hundred minutes together at the
regular season. The Wolves starters going into Game one had
played seven hundred and fourteen. I mean that the amount
of time those guys had to coalesce compared to what
the Lakers did trying to sprint towards the finish line

(22:21):
after Luca deal, it wasn't a comparison.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Lebron said that he hadn't thought about his future when
asked after the game, what do you think his answer
is going to be?

Speaker 10 (22:33):
I think he'll be back. I think listen, he's done
this similar song and dance ever since they lost to
the Denver Nuggets and the Western Conference finals. That was
year twenty. Last year, similar kind of sentiments when the
season ended, that was twenty two twenty one. This year's
twenty two. I think when you pass two decades in

(22:54):
the league, you're allowed to walk away from narduous season
and be like, I got to think things through. But
he's got to be back. Bronnie James is on this
team under contract for the next two seasons. I talked
to Bronni about his favorite memories from the year, and
he mentioned just the surreal idea of going to work
with his dad, and he said, I look forward to

(23:16):
that for years to come. So it could not just
be a swamp song for lebron James next year, but
a continuation and he'll try to maximize this thing. That's
what he's done ever since two thousand and three.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Dave mcmanhamhon, he covers the Lakers for ESPN, covers the NBA.
What do you think Luca's future is?

Speaker 10 (23:39):
There's a little bit of a question, right would he
actually put down roots in LA signed the long term extension?
As of August second, the Lakers will be able to
offer him a four year, two hundred and twenty nine
million dollar extension, or he could opt for a three
year deal worth about one hundred and seventy five which

(23:59):
allow him to go for a supermax in twenty twenty eight.
I believe, listen, the Lakers have rolled out the red
carpet from the moment he arrived. And I should say this,
Lebron James has been a very accommodating superstar teammate to
try to make that transition as smooth as possible. If

(24:20):
you are about star and if you are about the spotlight,
and you thrive in those situations, there's no better atmosphere
to play for in the NBA than the Los Angeles Lakers.
It's a traveling show and you're gonna get fans packing
the arena every spot you go around the country. It's

(24:41):
a circle of date type of thing on the calendar
for all your opponents. And if your competitor who feeds
off of that, which I believe Luka Tancic is, it's
a great place to be and spending your prime in
the NBA.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
But it's a certain point you look around and you go,
these guys got their titles. I'm sort of the last
of that class, Like I got to get my title.
He's not very close to a title. And the West,
who's pretty young. If you look at OKC, you know,
even Houston's a young team Minnesota. You know it's going
to be an uphill sledding here for the Lakers, even

(25:16):
after Lebron. That's the only curious part I have with Luca.
Do I understand the location and the area code, absolutely,
and the money, but are you going to win a
championship there in the next couple of years? And I
would argue you're not.

Speaker 10 (25:33):
I think that's a fair argument. I think you'd also
say had he was not been traded from the Dallas Mavericks,
it's not like they were world beaters with that roster either,
and he was committed to try to make it work.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
But they went to the finals though, Dave, of course.

Speaker 10 (25:48):
They did, but they went to the finals as the
fifth seed. And as you just mentioned, the other teams
of the West got better this year, so it's not
like they were in the pole position to return to
the finals this year. Bakers have a lot of work
to do to get this roster better, so he feels
better about the prospect of being here. They didn't have

(26:08):
a center right, so that's a huge glaring issue. He
had two lob threat centers, and Derek Wively the second
and Daniel Gafford that helped fuel that trip to the finals.
Rob Polinka has his work cutout for him. He had
two brilliant trades this year to get Dorian Finney Smith,
who really helped this team defensively the second half of
the year, and of course the Luca Donta trade. But

(26:30):
this roster is incomplete, and Luca is that good and
Lebron is that committed that I don't think they're miles
away from the type of moves they need to make
to become one of the contenders on the short list
going into next year.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
What is Lebron playing for moving forward?

Speaker 10 (26:53):
He wants another championship, he knows it's within his grasp.
He is playing for or the ability to be in
the NBA, not with just Bronnie James as his teammate,
but Bronnie James a contributor on a winning NBA team,
and so he's going to be a long for that
part of the process as well. And he loves basketball.

(27:16):
Like It's kind of simple answer, but I think there's
a kinship that he shared with Tom Brady because there
was a recognition that I'm never going to do anything
else in my life that I love as much as
this process. And I've already put in so much time
to get to this point. I'm not going to walk
away until my mind, my body, my spirit all tell

(27:37):
me to. So as long as I have a chance
to be part of this endeavor with a chance to win.
Because you know the year they had in twenty one
twenty two when they came in with great expectations and
it didn't even make the playing tournament that aged him
like ten years. But the winning basketball they've been playing

(27:59):
ever since the trade deadline at twenty twenty three, he
has peppin and step and he wants to keep riding
this thing.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
If I said, give me, Since you make your living
with your words, how would you describe Lebron's career as
a Lakers?

Speaker 10 (28:20):
You want one word?

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Do you have one word?

Speaker 10 (28:24):
Underwhelming by his standards, Okay, a few more than one,
but getting a championship and become the only player in
league history to win finals, MVP and a championship with
three different franchises, Like, we can't understate what that accomplishment was.
But there haven't been deep playoff runs. There's been a

(28:48):
fair share of drama off the court. His body hasn't
been totally reliable. That again, we're talking about the coda
to what was already a completely brilliant career. If you
just took the first Calves chapter, or just the Miami
chapter or the second Calves chapter.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Good to talk to you, Dave, Thanks for joining us.

Speaker 10 (29:09):
Thanks TOEV.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Dave mcmanhamon ESPN NBA reporter or is Big Perk tried
to say last night? I think he tried to say mcminimon.
How did he pronounce Dave's last name, Marvin?

Speaker 8 (29:24):
It took three shots at it.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
He tried.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Yeah, Like you have to build up the momentum to
get through mcminimon, Like if you start and then you
pause a little bit and then Big Perk last night
on the Mothership, he couldn't get through it.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
He was like.

Speaker 13 (29:41):
It.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
Bob and Huntington Beach, Good morning, Bob, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 14 (29:49):
Good morning Dan?

Speaker 5 (29:50):
Hey.

Speaker 14 (29:51):
First of all, thanks so much for spending three hours
of your time with us in the morning. That makes
my morning go by super quick. I'm a truck driver
and the first three hours of my day just flies by.
Thanks so much for the entertainment real quick. So as
a participant and a winner on Family Feud, a winner
of Fast Money, I'll give you a couple of quick tips.

(30:14):
First of all, I'd like to just address Ritzy real quick. Chritty,
I don't know you personally. I only know you through
the show, and from what I know, you would one
turn hugs into kisses on every Woman if you were
the host of the show. Straight out. And then as
far as the tips, if they tell you when you

(30:35):
go on the show, it's very the answers are very elementary,
So don't overthink your answers. Think as a child, So Ritty,
you're righting the money on there, we do.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Thank you, Bob.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Okay, well, you would think that Paulie and I, who
got ces when we were in high school and college,
that should be right up our rally. Now Todd with
graduated second in his class.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
That's just booksmarks though not streetsmarks.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Well, don't we know that? You know there's the thinker, Rodin,
you're the overthinker.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
I think I can put on my little kid hats
and you come up with hopefully basic answers, but who knows,
It'll be very interesting to see how it plays out.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well, thank you, Tom.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Well Chris in La, Hi, Chris, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 17 (31:27):
Good morning? Dan, Hey, I just wanted to give you
an idea as to what the fallout is here in
LA with the Lake of Debaco and JJ Reddick is
getting a lot of heat, and I think rightfully so
for some of the moves that he made. But what
you saw as the pre game press conference, that's how
he's been all season. He's been very testing, to the

(31:49):
point where I even wondered if he was actually enjoying coaching.
But that's been the way he is. And I think
what we saw a little bit of JJ's ego. You know,
he was a great analyst, insightful, and I think coaching
is being a little different for him, and his ego
just won't let him acknowledge that he shouldn't have played
a forty year old Lebron the entire fourth quarter, shouldn't

(32:11):
have played Luca, who was coming off with stomach ailment
the entire fourth quarter, and he doubled down and instead
of going small and adjusting, I mean going big and
adjusting to what the Rudy Gobert was doing to him,
he had already said he wasn't going to play Jackson Hayes,
so his ego was not going to let him change
and do what obviously. I mean, my daughtery was said,

(32:33):
hey dad, we don't have a big guy. I mean,
it was amazing. And his explanation for it afterwards was, well,
if I do that, I sacrifice points. Well, you know
what else sacrifices points, not getting offensive rebounds, not getting
defensive rebounds, giving them second chance shots. So that absolutely
to me, it's just his ego and he's going to

(32:54):
have to adjust to that. Like mcmanhamon said in the offseason,
he'll be thinking about it, I'm sure. And one last thing,
I don't think there's any way Lebron leaves because there's
no way with Lebron's ego, he's gonna want to go
out the way he did, not scoring any points in
the previous game and then hardly any points in this game.
He's gonna want to go out as a winner.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Well, he's not gonna.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
He's not going to go someplace else because his son's
on the roster and I don't know where he would go.
And you know, we're still criticizing Durant because he glombed
onto Golden State to win a couple of titles there.
Lebron went to Miami and people were critical of him.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
I just don't think that he's going to leave. I
can't see that happening. Sue in Denver, Hi, Sue, what's
on your mind today?

Speaker 13 (33:45):
Morning? DP, Morning Dennis. I'm kind of going a little
backtracking in the show this morning, wondering about Chris have
a question about deduction QBS. I keep hearing about how
Aaron Rodgers doesn't want them to, you know, draft his successor.
I guess I don't understand. Why do they think that
at some point their team won't look for their replacements?

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Well, and once again, I don't know it to be
a fact too, And thank you for the phone call.
I'm just thinking that you had Aaron go through this
in Green Bay. He didn't think they were going to
draft his successor, probably just like Brett Farbe didn't think
they were going to draft his successor. But it happens,
and great franchises think ahead. If you're Pittsburgh and you

(34:32):
really love Jackson Darter, Shador Sanders, then take him. I
can't be I'm worried about Aaron Rodgers this season. I
also have to worry about my franchise after this season
as well. And you can't sit here and go. I
don't know how long Aaron's going to play. You have
to go year by year. And they've had patchwork quarterbacking

(34:55):
for how many years now since Ben retired? And look,
if Aaron Rodgers doesn't go there, you got another year
of patchwork quarterbacking and that's not then you're looking at
a nine to eight. Then you're looking at a first
round exit.

Speaker 10 (35:14):
Again.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
We'll take a break. Last call for phone calls, What
we learned once in store tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Right after this, be sure to catch the live edition
of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern
six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Last Call for phone Calls, What we learn, What's in
store tomorrow. Minnesota outscored the Lakers by almost eight and
a half points per game in the fourth quarter, the
largest margin of any of the playoffs series this season. Yeah,

(35:45):
you know that shows me that you're tired or they
got a lot of youth over there. They had a
lot of energy, and Anthony Edwards is not slowing down.
He not afraid of anybody, and you start to understand
their role players, and as Dave mcmanhamon pointed out, when
you trade Karl Anthony Towns and you get de Vincenzo

(36:05):
and you get Randall. So now I've got more depth.
You got to have depth. You got to have guys
who can contribute. You got to have somebody who's going
to give you a surprise game when one of your
star players doesn't have a great game. Because Anthony Edwards,
now he filled in the stat sheet a little bit.
He didn't shoot well, but he did a lot of
other things. Rudy go there. He dominated the boards as

(36:27):
he should, and then all of a sudden, you know,
he throws in twenty four points as well. Well you're
you know, you can't allow that to happen, but they did.
And the Lakers have a lot of questions here in
the offseason. Kevin in Vegas, Hi, keV, what's on your mind?

Speaker 18 (36:42):
Hey Dan and the Dannis? How was everybody doing anyway?
I want to kind of catch you guys up. And Jeffardy,
you had to answer the correct answer. But if family
viewed you answering a survey, So Steve was saying, we
survey one hundred wives, and we asked one hundred wives,
you know, what's the smallest part of your husband's body

(37:05):
and then Marvie probably would say hands, So you have
to think about what they said. The hundred wives said, okay,
kind of update all family ques.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
Thank you, Kevin, thank you.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
We have a couple of weeks to get ready before
we go to Atlanta for celebrity family feud. We're gonna
have team meetings. You guys are going to be away
from your wives and your families. The night before we
stay in a hotel and uh, you know, have a
team meal will be sequestered, sequestered a fly.

Speaker 8 (37:38):
Or we could not prepare it all and just wing it.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Well, that's what I did with the SAT and that
didn't turn out too well. Todd, would you get on
the SAT?

Speaker 3 (37:48):
I did not do great. I got eleven twenty and
that I took it again and got less.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Oh that's nothing very good.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
I took one of.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
Those classes, but I didn't take it seriously enough. Where
you're going to move, but there is.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Where you panic. You panicked, and this is this is
what concerned. So as the coach of this team, I
have to start looking at minutes. I got to look
at you know, who is going to be in the
starting lineup. I need, I need, I need to know
what kind of attitude you got. Are you a team
players are looking for. Yes, I'm gonna I'm gonna get

(38:18):
some game show analytics and yeah, we got to prepare
for this.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
You got to prepare for this.

Speaker 9 (38:26):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
See in Glen Dora, I see.

Speaker 10 (38:31):
Hey Dan, what's up?

Speaker 9 (38:32):
Second time?

Speaker 10 (38:33):
Long time.

Speaker 9 (38:34):
I hope you guys are doing all good. You guys
are cracking me up with this somi fude stuff.

Speaker 13 (38:38):
Man.

Speaker 9 (38:38):
You know, congratulations for getting on the show. But I
immediately sensed that Ritchie was getting a little nervous. Oh yes,
but I think, uh, I think your go to for
the fast money has got to be seating number one.
The other thing I wanted to ask really quick, I
like your take about Austin Reeves coming off the bench
at the Lakers. Just not sure what's going to happen
with this team going forward, maybe they get another year
or not. But let me ask you a question, if

(39:00):
you could turn back time, would you ever consider being
a GM? Because I mean, you got you got great.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Oh no, no, I love the game too much, see
thank you. No, No, I love watching. I like being
the GM for all teams. I don't want to be
a GM, and I love the game, and I take
it very seriously and I studied the game always have.
It's like, I'm watching Giannis's free throws and it's just

(39:27):
driving me crazy. He's shooting sixty one percent. You can't
be the guy who shoots more free throws than anybody
and you shoot sixty one percent. I think he was
around seventy three at one point. Now he's down at
sixty one percent. And your your free throw has to
start from the ground up. It's just a smooth It

(39:48):
should be one motion. It can't be up stop, up, stop.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Shoot fluid fluid.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
And he has some touch, you know, Shack never had
any touch whatsoever. And he said, well the ball was
too big. Well, okay, Michael Jordan could shoot free throws
and his hands were huge. It just comes to confidence
and routine. You get into that routine. And I'm watching
Giannis and it's just that it's like a ladder unfolding

(40:21):
and you can't get any kind of rhythm with that.
The great free throw shooters they get up there, they
know it. I would always be boom, boom, boom, three dribbles,
left hand, boom, and then go that's it, and then
whatever year. I never looked at anything. I didn't go.
That's where I'm shooting towards front of the ram, back
of them. Never, I just shot it. But it's unfortunate

(40:42):
because you're just giving away all of those points. This
day in sports history Paul.

Speaker 8 (40:47):
Nineteen fifty one, Mickey Mantle hit his first career home run.
Nineteen eighty six, NASCAR driver Bill Elliott went two hundred
and twelve miles per hour, the fastest ever. Ninety one,
Nolan Ryan of the Rangers pitch career oh hit her
number seven and in ninety two, Rickey Henderson stole base
number one thousand.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Also on this D eight nineteen eighty eight, Mike Jordan
gets fifty five. Is the Bulls beat the Cavaliers.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
That's it. That's day and sports history. Let's go around
the room, Todd, did you learn anything today?

Speaker 14 (41:18):
I did?

Speaker 3 (41:18):
NFL draftees should be aware.

Speaker 5 (41:20):
It's all about your medicals and how you interview for
teams thinking about selecting him.

Speaker 7 (41:23):
Seat O'Connor, uh Lebron maybe as a year left Marvin.

Speaker 6 (41:30):
Cowboys over under seven and a half.

Speaker 5 (41:32):
I know, Paul, let's play the feud, Todd teams, Actually
you'd like to see Austin Rings off the bench for
the Lakers in a sixth Man of the Year Typero.
