Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Final hour on this Monday, best and words to the
weekend once again, once you saw that you liked you
didn't like, EH seven seven three DP show operator Tyler
sitting by. You'll take your phone calls, have a new
poll question here for the final hour of the program.
And the big breaking news this morning is Joe Burrow
out for at least three months. He will need toe
(00:25):
surgery and Adam Schefter had that story. Week two of
the NFL season is another reminder of why overreacting to
Week one is always a mistake. You look at the Lions.
They lost Ben Johnson. They hung fifty two points on
Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers turned back
(00:45):
the clock week one against the Jets. The clock is ticking.
You can't outrun Father time. The Steelers fell flat against
the Seahawks, lost by two touches the Jets. The Jets
look great against the Steelers. You know they lost, but
they look great. And then they scored three points at
(01:07):
home against Buffalo two weeks nowhere near enough information sample
size to go. I have a great feeling or I
have a bad feeling. I know exactly what this player
of this team is going to be like. And we
had Bill kaher On, former Steeler head coach, and he said,
I needed a month before I realized what we could
do and what we couldn't do. And I think that's
(01:29):
the case for most of these coaches. Bill Belichick gets
credit for using the first four weeks as sort of
his preseason that he was not as concerned. Yes, you
do want to win, but he wants to know. You know,
those first four games, now I can figure out who
we are because offseason, preseason, you're not getting that many
(01:51):
reps with your team and you're not going to be
playing them during the preseason. Now you get into those
first four weeks and then after that you hope that
you can navigate how good your team is or the
weaknesses that you have. Sunday Night Football, Patrick Mahomes and
the Chiefs. They're in New York. They face the Giants
and that'll be Sunday night at seven Eastern on NBC
(02:13):
and Peacock, which is where you'll find this program Monday
through Friday for three hours. Download the app if you
haven't done so. We have a double header another well,
it's the first of I think what three or four
Monday night doubleheaders with the Mothership in ABC? You got
the Buccaneers getting two and a half against the Texans
and the Chargers minus three and a half against the Raiders.
(02:38):
I'm sure that there is a reason for this with
the double headers, because you're taking maybe a one o'clock
game and putting it into primetime at one o'clock Sunday,
and then putting it into a Monday night. You're going
to stagger the games. I'm not keen on it now.
If you said Fox was going to show a game,
in ESPN was going to show a game, okay, but
(02:59):
this is ABC and ESPN. But I think there are
three or four of these Monday night staggered double headers.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yeah, paem this season there will be five double headers
Week two, four, six, seven, and eighteen, and yeah there.
I think people like it because the odds are one
of the two is going to be a good game.
You increase your odds of a good night of football.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Okay, Week four, you have the Jets at the Dolphins,
and you have the Bengals at the Broncos. No Joe
Burrow the Jets in Miami, and by then hopefully things
are better for Mike McDaniel. Week six, the Bills and
the Falcons, the Bears at the Commanders, Week seven double header,
(03:45):
the Buccaneers at the Lions. That's tasty, the Texans at
the Seahawks, and then week eighteen to be determined. That'll
be on a Saturday, a Saturday doubleheader for Monday night
double headers, but you'll have the final one, the final weekend,
that'll be a Saturday.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah. If you complain about it, though, you'll end up
with Tuesday night football. We're not ready for that. We're
not ready.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Although if the NFL could, they would, they would stagger this.
So you had a football game every single night, and uh,
you know, I keep waiting. I know there's a law
in place about Friday nights. I don't want to see
high school football lose Friday nights to college or the NFL.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Yes, Marvin, but.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Remember I think there was a weather delay in Buffalo.
You had a Tuesday night game. I mean America was
ready for that.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Oh yeah, yes, yeah, I mean I'll take it. You'll
never hear me say it's just too much football. I
haven't gotten to that point yet. Maybe, but I'm not.
I'm not there yet. I was watching. I watched so
many different games. I'm bouncing in and out. And the
Old scored on their first three possessions in the win
(05:02):
against the Broncos. They're the first team in NFL history
to score on every one of their first ten offensive
possessions of a season, the seven from the previous week.
They're also the first team in the Super Bowl era
they haven't punted yet in the first two games of
the regular season.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Who stell of a Day?
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Stantaa day, start outa day, stan outa day.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
This is the style of the day Stata.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
To day rot to you by Panini America, the official
trading cards of the program. The merchandise store Danpatrick dot
Com open and stock with some fresh new gear. We
are putting the finishing touches on the calendar. It'll be
available in time for the holidays. Taking some pictures today
and then we'll let you know when you can pre
(05:54):
order the calendar.
Speaker 7 (05:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
I did watch Daniel Dimes and uh, he's the sixth
highest ranked quarterback in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
A Hi, Daniel, not.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
A pluke And we're watching them kick a field goal
and I'm saying, you don't take the ball out of
Daniel Dimes's hands to you know, let this kick or
kick a sixty yarder. It was the leverage kick. All
of a sudden, there's a flag on the play. You
could see where the players on both sides were like,
(06:28):
what's the flag? And they even when they're probably saying, oh,
it's a leverage penalty, they're probably both going, well, who's
it on? Well, it was on Denver and it was
a fifteen yarder. Now, all of a sudden, you have
a really manageable kick there that the Colts with Daniel Dimes,
And that was impressive, Yes, Todd.
Speaker 8 (06:49):
As soon as he missed that sixty yard and the
Colts mascot pretended to collapse in front of the field
goal post, I put both my arms up in the
air and I whispered to my wife. We survived a
three hundred yard passer and one hundred and sixty five
year Russia.
Speaker 7 (07:00):
And we snuck out of Indie.
Speaker 8 (07:02):
And then all of a sudden, I started staying, wait
a second, this game may not be over. And that
was a very very brief sigh of relief. I turned
into a loss.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Your poor wife who has to sit there.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
Screaming and yelling for over three hours on every play,
and then I had a pounding headache till at least
two hours after the game.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Can she leave?
Speaker 8 (07:20):
She can, but I asked her to watch the game
with me, so whether she was paying attention or that
while she was playing Candy Crush and doing whatever work
on her laptop, she sat there on the couch watching
the festivities.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Okay, seating the pole question for the final hour of
the program. By the way, according to DraftKings, I have
the updated national title odds after this weekend. It's Ohio
State and Penn State tide. Then it's Oregon, followed closely
by Georgia, then Texas, LSU, Alabama and Miami.
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Pole question for the final hour.
Speaker 9 (07:53):
I'll see we haven't updated this one of their worst
weekend NFL edition Bears, Dolphins, Broncos. Right now, the Bears
have about fifty four percent of that vote, followed by
the Dolphins Broncos.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
People are not too down on the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, I think the Colts are better than what people think,
and I think they'll be knocking on the doorstep of
a playoff appearance. I do, and Denver had a shot
to win that probably well here's Sean Payton, the Broncos
head coach.
Speaker 10 (08:21):
It'll be painful to watch that film, and yep, you
know we'll get the corrections made, so it starts with
me our staff. But we had a number of opportunities
to not be in that position late, and unfortunately, you know,
we we shot ourselves in the foot too many times.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Don't you think it would be more entertaining with these
placekickers being so good? That's sixty yards is nothing. Now,
you should be able to do whatever you want. You
should be able to throw like a teammate in the
air to try to block a field goal. You know,
if it's going to become routine for the placekicker, why
don't we give the defense it's an opportunity to Hey,
you grab your guy and throw him up in the
(09:04):
air and see if he can block it.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Yes, Paulie, it's called the leverage rule.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
And they didn't really explain it right after the call
was made during the Colts Broncos game. But the defensive
lineman for the Broncos he lightly used the back of
the right guard to get a little air and try
to block the kick. Why can't you do that? Why
can't you go over the center. He's not some you know,
he's not a kid. I don't understand the rule.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Okay, I'm not gonna let you run and jump over
the offensive line. I get that, but you should be
able to do something. They've they've taken away every advantage,
any advantage that the defense has had before.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
Yes, Marvin, Yeah, yesterday I saw somebody they called the penalty.
Oh he jumped, Well, he tried to block you. You
can't jump, yes, Todd.
Speaker 8 (09:47):
It's not like they brought a ladder out there and
they're just using each other, the human beings, trying to
figure out a way to block the kick.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
I don't know. You should be able to jump on
a teammate. Maybe do some make it fun.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, pull and block kicks are exciting. I mean, that's
an exciting part of the game. They treat the long
snappers if he's in bubble wrap, just let the blast them.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
James in Virginia, Hey James.
Speaker 11 (10:15):
Oh, thanks for taking my fall. DT Happy Monday. During
that DP salute the commanders, man, Wow, what a great
weekend of football.
Speaker 12 (10:23):
But I have a new best. All of a sudden,
you guys have me on the open DT man, you
guys are the best. Man, I really appreciate that, Thank
you so much. But going forward, Man, what a wonderful
weekend of football without Washington playing, I was able to
hang back with the little ones and watch football weekend. Man,
I didn't really have any worse but disappointment in Clemson
(10:44):
man or will start to the season only one loss
in the ACC, but they got everything in front of them.
But a man, a one and two start for our
top five team is really tough. Kudos at Georgia Tech.
Speaker 11 (10:56):
I mean, wow, that King guy reminds me of a
young Josh Allen. Can throw the ball nicely and it's
a big runner. But what a fifty five yard kick
by that guy with turn running out. What a great game.
You know, back in the day and college football used
to have to have style points when you won football games.
I love what LSU was doing. Who cares what the
(11:16):
score is? To get in the playoffs? You need w
And like I said, I think they're going to go
all the way this year, although Ohio State and Oklahoma
might have something to say about it. And in a
few weeks we'll get Miami and Florida State in the ACC.
That's gonna be a big matchup. Jump into the NFL.
Real quick dp man the Cincinnati Bengals. I thought they
could go to the ASC Championship. Lousy tabrow again. Do
(11:39):
they have to think about another quarterback? I'm not sure,
and I'm not worried about the Chiefs Man. They were
going into the spot to score him and Pat and
Keelsea just got to get their timing down. I guess
you know they've been together a long time. But that
was a tep say he makes nine times out of ten,
and I was just that one. Man. Thanks you guys
for letting me roll man. You guys have a wonderful
(12:00):
week Man's a lot of the commanders.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
All right, Thank you James, James a proud new father there.
I don't know if you took a breath in there. Yes, Marman, you.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
Looked a bit confused.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Today's shows that the show open for today, James and
Virginia was in it.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Oh, I had no idea what he was talking about.
Speaker 7 (12:18):
I saw you guys guys were like looking like, what
is he talking?
Speaker 4 (12:20):
I had no idea, Like.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
The show open that starts the show?
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Okay Dale in Indiana, Hi Dale, Best and Worst of
the weekend worse.
Speaker 13 (12:29):
Well, unlike Shay, I went to my kids' soccer game
on Sunday, but I listened to the Colts game on
the ride back on the radio. As they lined up
for that kick, I told my kids, guys, this kick
is not only for the game, but it's for Todd
to get up high in the face. And at that point,
the tension and anticipation in the car went from a
(12:49):
nine to a fritzy eleven.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
Yeah, there was a bet there who's going to win
that game? Social media couldn't wait to remind me about
that as soon as that game ended.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
But why didn't you bring it up today? I figured
it was going.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
To come up, and you guys would want to theatrically
bring it up. So I kind of laid back waiting
for one of you to do. I know the pie
is coming. It's just a matter of when we want
to do that. But we we did have that bet.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (13:14):
See, we usually only want to bring things back when
we know we won. It's like we brought back the
predictions from our headline.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (13:24):
I don't remember, I know, I don't remember what I said.
Let's just see how they went. Let's see how they Oh,
I got that one. Oh, okay, got it. Once I
heard that Paul had it right, and then I'm like, yeah,
I don't. I don't remember what I Mike fun Why
don't we bring back the headlines from Friday?
Speaker 4 (13:40):
See how they went. I mean, I don't know how
it went though. Let's just see how it went.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, it's very transparent.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Paul very lame on it.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
It was Ray's idea, and he brought it to me.
I did approve it.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Oh, now it's Ray's idea was raised.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
All of a sudden, Marvin's like, hey, so we got
that audio right, We're going to do it right.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Oh, hey, we're gonna so we're gonna do that right.
What's the first segment?
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Second segment?
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Okay, guys, I got the audio. I got the audio. Here.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
We can wait a few weeks for when you guys
are right. Whoa, oh we got time.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
We can play it again if you want, maybe play
the arch Manning is going to cruise to the Heisman trophy.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
I'm ready to bring that back.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
You could stay, you can stay on that bandwagon. Even
if he played well, he wasn't winning a Heisman.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yes, Martin, Yeah that sounded bad as soon as he
said it, and he said the word cruise.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Yeah what yeah, he might you know maybe next year?
Maybe maybe? Or will he be in the NFL for
the Browns? It went Nick Saban, Nick Saban, I'm hearing
there's a dispute about whose idea it was. By the way, Uh, Paul,
did you tell Ray that we should get the sound together?
Speaker 14 (14:54):
No?
Speaker 4 (14:55):
He sent it to me this morning, Yes, Marton.
Speaker 7 (14:58):
No, I'm I'm proclaimed for klint.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Okay, So I need to bring Ray out here and
ask him who initiated this.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
Big day? Rake it out?
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Big day?
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Ray, you know, let me take a Bray's big day. Yeah,
let me get him there, Let me let me, let
me take a break, and then we'll get the I
team on this. I can't have Paulie investigate himself, right,
all right? More phone calls coming up, Best and Words
of the weekend. We're back after this.
Speaker 1 (15:30):

iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
More phone calls coming up before the commercial break, we
found out that apparently it was supposed to be Big
Day Ray, one of our producers back there, who suggested
we bring back our predictions from Friday's show of what
would be the lead story on Monday. And of course
(16:31):
Ray just sent me the I am with this. This
is coming from Paul saying could you please bring back
our predictions from Friday for Monday. Paul claims that it
was Big Day Ray who suggested to Paul to bring
that back.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I also look back at the text chain and I
did say, Ray, can you find what we thought was
the lead on Monday? We did in the last segment
send me a line on each person's pick, and then
he cut it and sent it to Martin, So yes,
I did an yes.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
But then you're the one who looked good with your prediction. Yes, yeah,
that's why you wanted it brought back. Amongst the reasons, yes,
and that we we took chances. You were so bold
to say that the Eagles were going to be two
and zero and the Chiefs of b O and two.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Correct, more so the prediction of the reaction against the Chiefs,
the overreaction of the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
But yes, well you were you picked the team that
was favored to win as your big bold headline.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Yeah, kind of.
Speaker 7 (17:28):
I more picked like the reaction. That was my prediction
of what the lead would be.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Yes, Marma, No, no, no, that was me who did that, Like, oh,
you know what, I'm going to take the defending Super
Bowl champs.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
They're going to be oh and two.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
They were underdogs at home, by the way, but how
about them cowboys? Could Really that is what the lead
should always be. The lead should always be the cowboy.
It almost was Dak Prescott talking about who should get
credit for the come from behind to win against the Giants.
Speaker 15 (17:56):
Told him that game was the epitome of him and
his coaching styles. Is the resiliency he has and the
way and I mean the way he carries himself, the
way he coaches, the standards, the standard and at the
end of the day, that's winning. And that's what this game,
you know, the end of it was. And credit to him.
We're behind him. He deserved that first win. Tough one
to get and uh, I know he'll never forget it.
(18:18):
I won't forget it. I'm sure every guy in that
locker room won't forget this one.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
And he's talking about Shoty, they call him shoddy. It's
Brian Schottenheimer. He got his first win. It was a
wild game though, back and forth. And if you weren't
all in on Russell Wilson Junior the third, how do
you feel about him?
Speaker 16 (18:34):
Now?
Speaker 4 (18:35):
He's somewhere in between.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I mean, Dallas isn't a good defense, but that's secondary men,
how do you allow that to happen? The one thing
Rusk can still do is throw a really good deep ball,
and he did. But you've paid some of the guys
in that secondary who maybe they're going to be uh
(18:57):
in shootouts all year long. It kind of feels that way.
All right, Let's see how about Mike and Tampa. Hi, Mike,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 12 (19:07):
Hey?
Speaker 17 (19:08):
There, Dan, I got that's the worst of the weekend.
I got a lot of Clemson blood in my family
and in South Carolina. Go down to Diego, Pavia and
Vanderbilt was pretty awesome. I love Bandy beating DAMA last
year and then coming on strong this year. And then
the worst is pretty much anybody not Miami in the
(19:29):
state of Florida. I've been in Tampa about fifteen years
and pretty much a de facto Gator.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
And USS fan.
Speaker 17 (19:36):
Lagway throwing five picks and then USS boy I got
getting rolled. I've got a lot of USF friends, and
I didn't have the heart to break it to them.
You know, I just thought they'd hang a little tougher
than that.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah, that's all I wanted.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
That they were seventeen and a half point underdogs, and
I was just hoping that maybe you lose by fourteen,
be respectable. But they got crushed. Miami was not going
to leave anything open to interpretation there. I watched some
of the Emmys last night. Nate Bargatsey was the big,
(20:13):
big host there. Popular comedian joined us in Tahoe there,
and I don't know the best show that I saw
this year. You know, sometimes you watch those shows you're
reminded of these shows, But did anybody have a well
that was the best show I saw this year?
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Whether they won last night? Yeah, Paul the show The Pit.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
It's about an emergency room in Pittsburgh, and I saw
it on one of our flights out to Tahoe and
I was like, they're putting Noah Wiley as an emergency
room physician. This is kind of a tired idea because
he did Er for so long. It's completely different than ERE.
A great show, very transfixing, and it won a lot.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Anybody else have any shows that? Yeah, I really liked
this season of Severance.
Speaker 9 (20:58):
I thought was really good. I think that Once Awards
that's a hell of a show. Penguin was really good too.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Colin Farrell though as the penguin unreal. Yeah, there's no
penguins in the Penguin. I just want to let people know, Yes.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
You know, it is a great show too that people
should watch. And I think there's a new season that
either just came out or about to start.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Hacks is so good. Hacks is a great show. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
I watched that from the beginning and I thought it
was wonderful. I thought it was it's really based on
Joan Rivers, the well deceased comedian, but she was she
was groundbreaking, you know what Joan did and hosting the
Tonight Show and you know she didn't take anything from anybody,
and in a male dominated field, she was a dynamo.
(21:45):
And this is based it feels like off her as
a stand up comedian, late night host.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Dampon the show the Studio really cleaned up. That's seth
Rogan's show where he's the new Hollywood studio head. It's
you may not love the show. I mean I think
I loved it. It's unbelievable filmmaking. They did a couple
episodes where they had a shot that was forty five
minutes long, like they had they didn't have any cuts,
and it's once you know what it's about, You're like, well,
(22:12):
how did they do this?
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Yeah, but they did that for Birdman with Michael Keaton.
That movie is just it's one shot and people at
the time were like, what's this? And I was like,
this is incredible, incredible cinema cinematography to be able to
pull that off in a movie. And it's one take
and he's inside, he's outside, and then all of a
(22:33):
sudden to see the studio, and the studio is great,
said Michael Keaton.
Speaker 9 (22:37):
Movie won a bunch of Oscars.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
He didn't for it. Yeah, yeah, he didn't win.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
I'm always amazed sometimes when you're like, wait, the movie one,
but you didn't win, or you won, but the movie
Tom Hanks won for.
Speaker 5 (22:55):
Uh, the war movie Saving Private r Yeah he wins,
but I don't think any anybody else does.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
And that's when Shakespeare in Love with Gwyneth Paltrow ended
up winning, and I went, oh my god, are you
kidding me?
Speaker 4 (23:13):
This Academy. That's why I'll never get nominated. Yeh see.
And that Saving.
Speaker 9 (23:19):
Saving Private Ryan, So I was gonna say a different title.
Saving Private Ryan re sort of like change the way
we do movies like that now, those like war movies
like that, they've never been the same since then, where
it's that sort of close up, shaky handheld footage. That's
(23:40):
every war movie is made that way now and it
really wasn't done that way before him.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
And Tom Hanks has been in a few of these
military or war movies and it probably gets to take
a little victory lap there.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yeah, Tom Hanks produced Band of Brothers. He put that
together with his weight you know. Did you guys see
the show here called Paradise. I would fully recommend it.
I cannot tell you what it's about. It's about some
because it would be a total spoiler because the first
episode is like, oh my gosh, I can't believe this
is what happened. It's a great show. Sterling K Brown
is in it, in a few other really top actors.
(24:17):
I would fully recommend Paradise Paradise. I don't want to
spoil though.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Okay, White Lotus was always interesting. That was all three
of those different shows that they've had or seasons of
White Lotus.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Got another one coming up. I think it's in the Paris.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
I watch a lot of shows and then I forget
what the show's name is because my wife will go,
what do you watch? And I'll go, I don't know.
Something's going on in the White House the Residents. I
don't know, And then she knows what I'm watching. I
don't even, and then well, who's in it?
Speaker 4 (24:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I'm not big on attention to detail. With that, it's like,
can you get me through an hour here? Yeah, I
I'll watch this. I need light easy, try not to
pick up my phone and get a text from Todd.
You know, just something simple, Get me an hour, steal
an hour? Yes, Mormon.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
Oh no, you're one of those guys. You see somebody
on TV. He's in the damn what's that call? Yeah,
you're to snap your finger?
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Guy?
Speaker 7 (25:17):
Yeah, damn. I love him. He's good in everything, that guy.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
That guy. Yeah, Paulie.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
I was watching the Emmy's Red Carpet and Kevin Fraser
was interviewing everybody, and here comes iced tea icy comes up.
Is they're nominated for different shows, SBU and everything. He
says he was asked to be on Law and Order
SVU for one season and then he just kept asking
him back. He thought, I'm gonna go right back to
wrapping and producing and being into music. And he's like
twenty plus years on Law and Order. H good for him,
(25:46):
good gig, Yeah, good, good for him.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Oh, let's see a couple of phone calls here David
in Ohio, Hi David, welcome back, Hey.
Speaker 18 (25:55):
Dan, best of the weekend, Our baby girl, harperd Junior,
Harper Pate jun who the third is doing well?
Speaker 11 (26:03):
Uh?
Speaker 19 (26:03):
And then worse than the lak Our Special teams still
hasn't figured out what a live ball is on the
kickoff and of course at Cossus in dramatic fashion, get
the Seahawks painful.
Speaker 18 (26:14):
At least Todd's Broncos managed to lose to Daniel Indiana
Jones on the Colts. You guessed a special team's blunder
and I got a zinger from the Cowboys. Hero plays
the Cowboys only one because Brandon Aubrey can't miss. Give
Jerry Jones some time, though he already shipped out Michael Parsons,
so don't be surprised if he trades Aubrey next. Jerry
(26:34):
treating elite players like they're by one get one coupon's
at the grocery store.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Thank you, all right, David Well, Aubrey is a free agent,
so it's a little different than trading.
Speaker 20 (26:44):
No.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
I mean he's their best player or most valuable player.
Keith and Ohio or Chico. He should say hi, Keith, welcome.
Speaker 14 (26:54):
Back, Hey guys, good morning morning.
Speaker 18 (26:58):
Being a mission to getting native.
Speaker 21 (26:59):
I got to give my best of the weekend to
the Lions as they spoiled Ben Johnson's home coming back
in Detroit, putting up a fifty burger on their former
oc with a huge statement Jared Goff hits eight different receivers,
both were five touchdowns, Saint Brown with a hat trick,
and both backs get a touchdown.
Speaker 14 (27:16):
What a huge statement win for Detroit.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Worst of the weekend.
Speaker 21 (27:19):
I'm not sure how much worse the situation.
Speaker 18 (27:21):
Is gonna get in Miami.
Speaker 21 (27:22):
Like I said before, Mike McDaniels is a huge problem
down there, and I'm not sure how much he's gonna lapse.
Speaker 18 (27:28):
Thanks for having me, guys, have a good day.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
All right, Keith, have a great day here.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
He is the Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel after the
loss to the Patriots.
Speaker 22 (27:36):
To win games, you have to win the game, not
lose the game, honestly, and that that is how you
lose the game.
Speaker 9 (27:45):
You're moving the you're moving the ball down.
Speaker 22 (27:47):
The field, you're first and ten, and then you find
yourself at second and twenty. Uh you know that.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
Uh that was critical. Okay, you know what. You're winning.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
It's fun, it's quirky. But when you're not, that's when
you go wait what Yeah?
Speaker 9 (28:09):
See people are saying like, that's what it sounds like
when I talk in my sleep is Prescott for.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
You can't lose games in when Honey, what what you
were talking in your sleep?
Speaker 7 (28:25):
I was.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Caleb in Springfield? Hi, Caleb, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 11 (28:31):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Dan?
Speaker 23 (28:32):
Just got to let you know every time you change networks,
I know because my dad's been listening to you for
fifteen years. So I got to go over there and
set up his new streaming service to make sure he
gets his Dan Patrick. So that's always on my radars
when when you're switching over.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Worst of the.
Speaker 23 (28:48):
Weekend definitely got to be uh grade three turf toe.
Never heard of that before. I didn't know turf toe
had grades. Eventually, Cincinnati's got to just stop pay him
wide receiver and invest in maybe an offensive line for
their franchise quarterback, and then Best of the Weekend. Defending
Super Bowl champs are oh and two. I think the
(29:08):
stranglehold they have on the AFC might be lightening up
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Well, you know that Baltimore is going to be there,
and Buffalo is going to be there. Are the Chargers
going to be there? Is there another team? Are the
Texans going to bounce back? You know, Kansas City's margin
for error is really small, but they've been able to
win those games that Yes, it is small. But for them,
they've got the ultimate closer in Mahomes. It's hard to
(29:35):
live that way, survive that way, win that way. But
oh and two, I wouldn't jump off the bandwagon. Uh,
Devon in Georgia, Hi Devon, Good.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Morning Dan and Dan?
Speaker 16 (29:52):
How were doing dick ones and a glown man two
point thirty?
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (30:00):
Oh, I got a best in the worst for the weekend.
Uh my worst, unfortunately, is Max Gilbert missing the field
goal for the volunteers Hughes Tennessee fan and I'm down
here in West Georgia, so do the math. I'm having
to walk back a whole lot of a whole lot
of celebrating of that. I was getting ready for a Friday. God,
(30:23):
I thought we had that with Dan. I thought we
had that.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
You should have, you should have. This is how it sounded.
This is the Georgia call of the miss by Max Gilbert.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
Kicking to the right.
Speaker 13 (30:36):
Gilbert, you try to put Tennessee ahead, the kick is away,
and the.
Speaker 23 (30:43):
God he missed it.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Oh my goodness, what the heck happened there?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
But unlike the NFL, where if you miss a kick
like that and you cost your team, you show up
today and you see your teammates, and your teammates will
be like, hey man, it's all right, you know, you know,
we'll get them. If you're a college kicker and you
show up and you go to class, everybody's just kind
of looking at you. They might not say anything to you.
(31:14):
They're just looking at you, like, yeah, that's the guy. Yeah,
is that him? Yeah, that's the guy.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
In the NFL park, your car walk in.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
You know, maybe you have to talk to the media,
maybe you don't, and it's just got your teammates in there,
got your coach, and you probably talk to somebody to
tell you why you missed that kick. Yes, Tod, that's.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
When you recrest.
Speaker 8 (31:38):
One of those hybrid class setups where you can do
the zoom in from your dorm and you.
Speaker 7 (31:41):
Don't have to actually see any people and.
Speaker 8 (31:43):
Just kind of stay in hiding.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, but you'd have to go the entire week zooming
into your class.
Speaker 8 (31:48):
I'll understand, the professor.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
All right, let me take a break here, last call
for phone calls. What we've learned, what's in store tomorrow
right after this.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Tom Hanks didn't win an Academy Award for Saving Private Ryme.
That was e me, even though I went to that party.
My wife we could decide what post party we could.
We wanted to go to Shakespeare in Love or Saving
Private Ryme. And I said, well, hon saving Private Ryan
is going to win all the awards and all of
(32:29):
a sudden, you know, and the best Best Picture goes
to Shakespeare in Loff and my wife looks at me, like,
that's not going to be a good after party. The
post party at the Academy Awards was Saving Private Ryan,
and it was more of a wake than it was now.
They won five, but they didn't win Best Picture, Best Actor.
(32:49):
I don't know if the Best Director or any of that,
but they did win five Academy Awards, So e me
on Tom Hanks, Yes, Marvin.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
What about the guy that won for Best Sound Editing? Like, oh,
we won Best Sound Editing. I got an Oscar.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
I don't know if they were really celebrating that when
he came in and they go, yeah, best sound.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
Not best Cinematography. They won for that too, Yeah, Steven
Spielberg won.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
Though, oh you did win Best Director.
Speaker 7 (33:15):
He did.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Yeah, you know, we thought that.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Tom Hanks was gonna win, so they won Best sound
Effects Editing, Best Editing, Best Sound not to be confused
with Best Sound Effects Editing, Best Cinematographer, and Best Director.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Yes, is that one of those Best Picture wins like
Forrest Gump. When now looking back onto thirty years later,
you're like, babeat whatever movie like pulp Fiction and shaw
Shank lost the Force Gump.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
Yeah, that's an awesome movie, though I don't think it
was better than Shawshank.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
Shawshank's the best movie I've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
I was watching it the other night.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
At the very end when Red goes to get the money,
and there's there's one moment there. It's so small, but
it's so great that he's he's he's found this money
and Andy Dufrayne left it for him, and you could
see where he looks around real quick. He's out in
the middle of nowhere, in this field, under this tree,
(34:21):
and he just doesn't like a real quick look. And
then he realizes what's in there and all this money,
and then he talks about violating his parole board and
going getting on a bus and although I wonder, you know,
Andy just happened to be out there with his boat,
and you know, Hollywood ending there a little bit that's pretty.
Speaker 7 (34:44):
Good using nothing but a map.
Speaker 9 (34:45):
I mean, you know, they're not even really talking to
each other on payphones or anything. And he was able
to track him down on that beach.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
He bought a compass to find the money. I don't
know if he.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Yeah, yeah, I'll find you. That's how I found my wife. Yeah,
a compass and the stars.
Speaker 7 (35:02):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
I saw a recent interview with Tim Robbins. He said
the movie was supposed to end and was ending with
Red on the bus and that was gonna be They're
gonna go to black and that was gonna be it.
And they tested it and like, wait, he doesn't get
back together with Andy Dufrain as his best friend. And
they said, well that's assumed. Like no, And so they
called Tim Robbins and said we have to do a reshoot.
We're going to shoot one more scene. He goes, no,
(35:25):
I don't think so I don't agree with it. He goes,
we're gonna be in Saint Lucia for a week. He goes,
sign me up and they shot the last scene with
him on the boat.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
He told me many many years ago, and he said
that that movie is the number one movie, or was
the number one movie in China for a long, long
long time because it gave people hope of getting out
of China and his opinion, you know, communist China, and
he talked about that it gave it gives everybody hope
(35:54):
of you know, escaping, getting out.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
But it was interesting.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Roberto Niani, he won the Academy Award for Life is Beautiful.
That was a great performance if you haven't seen that,
And really his reaction to win the Academy Awards is
one of the great ones ever. Let me see.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Melissa and Oklahoma, Hi Melissa, how are you?
Speaker 20 (36:23):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Dan, how are you spectacular? What can I do for
you today?
Speaker 20 (36:29):
Let's be here? Five five, one hundred and twenty per
the driver's license?
Speaker 12 (36:33):
Probably more.
Speaker 20 (36:36):
Got my husband Chris here with you with me. He
is a longtime dand fan, and he says that he
would be a good replacement if everyone, if someone in
there would get sick. So he's Chris, and he is
say it out loud, Okay, all right, I'm calling and
(37:00):
reference to your conversation there with you like to sit
and watch a show, you can't remember who the actor is, you.
Speaker 12 (37:09):
Can't remember what the.
Speaker 20 (37:11):
Title of the show is. I can relate on that
so much. Yeah, my husband here could tell you every actor,
every movie they played in, what they did, how they reacted.
Speaker 12 (37:23):
He is a movie genius.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Yeah. Well, thank you, Moisa, Thank you, Chris.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
If I need you to take over for me, I
have I need to see a resume aside from six
to three, you know one Dean Blandino. Tomorrow, Gary Myers
wrote a book on Belichick and Brady, and Gary, who's
covered football for over forty years, covered the NFL. He'll
join us as well. More of your phone calls. How
(37:51):
about this day in sports history.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Paull just a couple for you.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
In nineteen seventy eight, Muhammad Ali defeated Leon Spinks to
win the heavyweight title for the third time and O
two this is a good one. Kurt Shilling and the
Diamondbacks struck out his three hundredth on the season. He
and Randy Johnson the first teammates in baseball history to
strike out three hundred in the same season.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Nineteen seventy nine, this guy became the first major leaguer
to hit for the cycle in both the American League
and nationally. First player American League nationally, Any takers, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Paul mald No, good, guess. Bob Watson.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Not exactly a guy that you would think would be
able to leg out a triple, but he did it
for the Astros and for the Red Sox.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Robin Orlando, Hi, Rob, welcome back. What do you have
for me?
Speaker 14 (38:45):
Damn Man, good hearing you guys today. Listen, you called
it on Friday, you said you would love to have
been at the Florida.
Speaker 16 (38:53):
Or shooting in Florida.
Speaker 14 (38:54):
I'm Florida State fan at Georgia, UT.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Yeah, I was at the game.
Speaker 14 (38:58):
I got a buddy of mine who's a who's in Aluma, UT.
And I gotta tell you, man, Tennessee Neeland Stadium there
is no better place to watch a football game. I'm
there as a fan of neither of them, and that
place was just insane.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Yeah, I love seeing that orange and they were up
twenty one seven.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
I love the end zone.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
I mean, that's that's a wonderful spectacle.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
Yes, Marvin, is any SEC school a great place to
watch a game?
Speaker 7 (39:30):
Or even tailgate.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
I haven't been to all of them. I mean, I
don't know how Vandy it.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Maybe Vandy's good now because they're good. I think there's
levels of tailgating. Been to Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Alabama.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Those are all high end. Yes, Eton, Yeah, I mean
it's all to me.
Speaker 9 (39:58):
It kind of sounds like pizza, right, It's all kind
of good.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
This is fairing degrees of good.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
How about we go around the room if we learned
anything on the pro Todd, did you learn anything today?
Speaker 7 (40:08):
I did? He has been analyst EJ.
Speaker 8 (40:09):
Manuel says Notre Dame's in more trouble than Clemson right
now and hopes to make the playoff.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Seaton, would you learn today got rushed the judgments? Did
this year?
Speaker 7 (40:16):
Let's not do it.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
Let's not let's make an exception this year, Marvin, you.
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Get coach riled up every single time he.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
Says, I do.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Bill Cower comes on and all of a sudden he's
fired up on a Monday and he's got, you know,
nothing to do in his apartment. Paul, would you learn
Bill Cower anti Tush Push and anti Brian Billick apparently too? Todd,
what did I learn today.
Speaker 7 (40:35):
We should be more fair to arch Man and give
him some time. We're the ones hyping him up.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
He's not.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
