question for the final hour of the program is going
to be one Seaton o Connor.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Right now, we got up there more exciting playing football
kick return or pick six?

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Pick six?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Got fifty five percent of that boat, okay? And then
I also put up there the Vikings ceiling check.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Okay, did they win fourteen games last year?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Vikings ceiling check. Where do we have people in the Viking.
Where do people have the Vikings? How far do we
think they can make it? Are they super Bowl contenders,
NFC Championship Game, sneaky wild card team or Pump the Brakes.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I'm going to say ten win team, eleven win team.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Right now, about half the audience has them as a
sneaky wild card team. Okay, all right, followed overwhelmingly also
by Pump the Brakes. Nobody really has them in the
NFC Championship Game. Even fewer people have them as super
Bowl contenders.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Here's how it sounded last night as JJ McCarthy scores
on a touchdown run.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
I heard the one from the Bear fourteen McCarthy out
of the shotgun, milking a three point lead.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
It is a run pass option. McCarthy takes off to.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
The right days ten stutter stuff six the five.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
JJ McCarthy, and you're not the Vikings Radio Network, JJ McCarthy,
nice little coming out party. Got injured last year before
playing in a game, and hadn't played since winning a
national championship in Michigan. And look good. He looked good
late in the game. You know, it felt like you're

(02:30):
trying to find your legs, your sea legs there in
the least the first half, and Caleb Williams completes his
first ten punses, and you're thinking, Okay, there's a big
difference between Caleb Williams who's played a couple of years
and JJ McCarthy just playing his first game. But as
we saw, the Bears were the Bears, and the Vikings

(02:50):
pull out the win, and JJ McCarthy, I don't want
to say established himself, but I do think he announced
his presence that Okay, that's why they moved on from
Sam Darnold. Because I'm watching and I just didn't get
I wasn't seeing anything from him. But by all accounts,
I've been told he's a winner, great athlete. I just

(03:13):
didn't see it. And then all of a sudden I
saw it and it looked great. I would keep Justin
Jefferson happy, do your best to keep him happy. They
ran the football as well. I I thought the Bears
were going to win that game, and you're up seventeen
to six at home, and we hadn't seen much from

(03:34):
JJ McCarthy, and then all of a sudden, we saw
a whole lot more than we thought.

Speaker 6 (03:38):
Yes, Marvin, with the Bears and the Browns, if you're
a fan of one of those teams, how do you
feel today?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, the Browns, you know you're not going to be good.
The Bears should be a playoff caliber team. You got
Ben Johnson, great play caller, you got weapons, you got
a quarterback, got you know, new guys on the offensive line. Okay,
let's go. What's holding you back? That's six consecutive home losses.

(04:09):
And I know that Caleb Williams has gone through offensive
coordinators and head coaches.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I understand all of that.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
But now you have one of the pre eminent play
callers in the NFL, if not the pre eminent play caller,
because we saw what his loss did to Detroit because
they looked very vanilla on offense. But Caleb Williams should
be great. You're the number one pick. He has the talent.
We saw him running, we saw him throwing until you

(04:37):
needed to lean on him and you couldn't or they didn't.
And that, to me is the difference with the Bears.
Got to win those games. That's at home and you're
up seventeen to six in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
Yeah, Marvin, Yeah, right, now he feels like he's in
that Kyler Murray category where he has so much ability
and just once in the blue he displays, but it's
just not consistent.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, I think that's a fair comparison that I'm still
waiting for Kyler Murray, still waiting for that all okay,
and he has it. I just think it's more of
the how much effort do you want to put into
He's already a great athlete and a good quarterback, but
do you want to be a great quarterback?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
And how much time do you want to put in?

Speaker 2 (05:24):
And I think you know, when you're putting in language
in his contract to basically say, stay off the video games,
put in more time. That'll give you some real insight
into who he is or who he was, and maybe he,
you know, he'll take that next step. It'd be a
shame if he doesn't, because as far as talent goes,

(05:46):
he's he's on the shirt list the most talented quarterbacks
in the NFL. But he has to want to be great,
and you know, certain players have been great all their life.
Then you get to the NFL where you're good. Now
you have to put in the time to want to
be great. And that's the difference. Sometimes guys don't want

(06:07):
to They can cruise. They can make fifty million dollars
a year. All Right, Maybe I'm not up there with
Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen Mark Jackson.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I'm still making a good living.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
But with Caleb now, he strikes me as a very
competitive guy and wants to be great. But I think
this is that year of Okay, you got your guy
as your play caller, you got some weapons, Now it's
up to you.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Yeah, Marvin, this is probably a larger conversation when you
get to the NFL in general. You just talked about yesterday,
guys holding on to the ball for too long their
entire lives. They were able to hold onto the ball
because guess what, I know, I can make a play
that happens with punt returners and kick returners all the time,
where you see guys, no, no where do you do a
running that because since Pop Warner, they've been able to

(06:57):
pick the ball up after fumbling it being able to
run it back to the house. So I think it's
a larger conversation of getting to the NFL because everyone's
a pro.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, And I think sometimes it's so easy for you.
That's been my knock on Kyler Murray High school college.
He was great, You're told you're great, he's faster, more athletic.
But then you get to the NFL, and I don't
care who it is. In the NFL, you know somebody's

(07:25):
gonna find you, Somebody going to track you down, somebody's
gonna humble you. They all got humbled, every player, you
get humbled. It's rare when you don't get embarrassed, or
you have a four interception game, or you, you know,
lose a game in the playoffs, or that you shouldn't
like all of those things. It's now what you do,

(07:46):
and that's what I want. JJ McCarthy threw the pick
six and I thought, okay, now I want to see
what you do. Now I want to see who you are.
And it took a little time, but we did see
that all right. Eight seven seven three DP Show email
address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle a DP show once again,
Good morning. If you're watching us on Peacock or listening
on our great radio affiliates around the country. Will the

(08:09):
Giants make a change at quarterback. I'm on record as
saying I hope they don't go to Jackson Dart yet,
even though I like Jackson Dart and I do think
he's a starter in the NFL. But I would stay
with Russell Wilson because if the team is not that good,
let me let them struggle with Russ until maybe they

(08:30):
get a little bit better, and then if you want
to work in Jackson Dart.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
But I don't know if it goes back to the
head coach.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
If the head coach is secure in his job, then
he's probably going to ease Jackson Dart in there, and
if not, then it's either one or the other. I'm
staying with Russ. We got to win some games, or
I'm going to attach myself to Jackson Dart. Maybe we
have some success and maybe ownership will then bring me back.
I think it's a really delicate predicament that Brian Dable

(09:00):
was in with the Giants, because if you don't give
him the vote of confidence, I'd be staying with Russell.
If I feel like he gives me a better chance
just from experience, then I'm going to keep him in there.
But if I'm a Giants fan, I want to see
what Jackson Dark can do. That's our future. I don't
like what our president is, but I do like our
future here and then maybe you go to him a

(09:22):
little earlier, but that there's mixed reports on what they're
going to do. Here is one for you. Week one
is over which team are you still thinking about from
their first game? Is there one team that stands on
good or bad where you can't quite shake their performance

(09:44):
or you can't applaud their performance enough.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
Marvin, I'll start with you the Green Bay Packers. Okay,
completely dominating lines.

Speaker 4 (09:53):
All right, Todd, I'm going to take the other end
of that.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
I don't know what to make of the Lions. Is
that some strange aberration or are they just not going
to anywhere near as good as they were the last
few years?

Speaker 4 (10:01):
What about you, Dylan?

Speaker 7 (10:03):
The Miami Dolphins, who I bet on, by the way,
that was just unfortunate.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Seaton, you got one, yea yeah. I think the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Still thinking about the Ravens being that explosive and also that,
you know, putting up that many points while giving up
that many points, And.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
These are games, you know, John Harball is he's gonna
be facing the same kind of questions as Mike Tomlin,
you know, I mean Tomlin has gotten to the playoffs,
they don't win a game. The Ravens have won a
playoff game in a while, but you know, you're still
kind of They've blown double digit leads I think in

(10:43):
the last five years. You know, they like six double
digit fourth quarter leads. You got to start looking at
a bigger picture here. It's not just on Lamar Jackson,
but I would say the Bengals and the Lions were
the two teams that I went, damn, what happened to them?
And if they don't block, I mean, Joe Burrow is
going to be on the sidelines if they continue to block,

(11:06):
or well, they didn't block, attempt to block the way
they did it against Cleveland and with the Lions, it
just they weren't threatening. That was probably the most surprising
part of it. I can give a lot of credit
to Green Bay Energy playing at home, Mike is making
his debut. I figured the Lions they don't wilt on
the road like that. But Jared Goff outside the dome, Yeah,

(11:32):
I don't know if that stays with him. Scott in Montana, Hi, Scott,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 8 (11:40):
Hey, good morning, DP. Worst of the weekend, My Montana
State Podcasts losing at home in double overtime to South
Dakota State. Shout out to Seth Wickersham fell about that
and fast to the weekend. Probably the Vikings backfield a
wonderful addition, having Jordan Mason on the squad. Crazy to

(12:01):
see Aaron Jones werefroming routes on the sidelines and adjusting
to an underthrown ball for a touchdown. I mean, you
just got to be excited for what they've done there.
So that's my best weekend then.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
All right, well, thank you, thanks Scott. Let's see is
it Austin in Anaheim? I don't know if I pronounced
that correctly.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
Yeah, Hi dans On here, can you hear me?

Speaker 10 (12:21):
Yes?

Speaker 11 (12:23):
Okay, great, yeah, thanks for having me on. Long time
listen our first time. You just alluded to the Bengals.
I'm one of the two Bengals fans here in California.
You know I'm going to go with them as both
my worst and best of the weekend. You alluded to it.
Just a terrible offense. Joe Burrow is getting destroyed by
Miles Garrett. The play calling was terrible. You know, they

(12:43):
got lucky if if that field goal goes in. We
might be talking about Zach Taylor's job, but best of
the weekend they're want to know. I mean, last time
they went one and o, they went to the Super Bowl.
Their defense looked good. They had two takeaways, they had
two forced fumbles, they didn't allow a single run over
five yards. And you know Joe Burrow is going to
get going. Demart Chase didn't get his first touchdown last

(13:05):
year until Week three, So a lot to be optimistic about.
I think it's better to win ugly than you know,
lose pretty.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
All right, Well, thank you, thanks for the phone call.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Yeah, these are the games the Bengals would lose in
the first month of the season last couple of years
that you got away with an ugly. If they lose
that game, I would have said the same thing that
I said last year when they lost to the Patriots.
That's the kind of loss that comes back to haunt you,
and it did. Wade in Kansas high Wad, what's on
your mind?

Speaker 12 (13:35):
Oh, good morning, guys. Love the show of the quarterbacks
that got married in the off season. Who do you
think at the best.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Weekend, Josh Allen?

Speaker 12 (13:46):
Do you think so? I have to agree with year
on Matt, I was going to go with Jordan Love
because go Pack go. But I'm telling you.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Aaron Rodgers got married in the off season as well.

Speaker 12 (13:59):
Good. Yeah, you got to go up to New York
and just give it right back to Aaron Glenn, which
was great.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Thank you, Wade. What kind of laugh was that from Wade?
I would say, Josh Allen? Was it Hailey Steinfeld?

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Actress? I saw where?

Speaker 6 (14:21):
Yes, Martin, Sorry, Josh Allen is in that famous category.
Now they'red a movie star. He's in a ton of commercials.
I'm always liked, Oh that Josh Allen. How do you
know who Josh Allen is?

Speaker 8 (14:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:35):
I guess he was already famous. But didn't she show
up when he won the MVP? Was she there with him?

Speaker 6 (14:42):
She did?

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, our charger quarterback is dating Madison Beer.

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Is that her name correct? Yeah? She's something.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
MVP season leading.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
You think that's what it is?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Uh, yeah, he might be an m VP already.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
I don't, I don't.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I'm not familiar with Madison Beer. In her singing, I
guess is she an act? Is she a singer or
an actress or a social influence? She was like an influencer.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Oh she's an influencer.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
I think, so okay, the influencer maybe turned actress, actor
or a musician or.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
I thought she was a singer.

Speaker 6 (15:29):
She might be.

Speaker 7 (15:30):
She's listed as singer songwriter first. Maybe like a j
Low type can kind of do it all.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I was gonna say Joni Mitchell type. But all right,
well does j Lo do it all?

Speaker 4 (15:42):
I mean, is there anything she can't do?

Speaker 6 (15:47):
Stay married?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Whoa I'm going to give you She's she went back
twice to Ben aff still can't do.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
It a flack?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, I know whether what that moment was where they're like, oh,
that's right, this is why it didn't work out.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
She also said like after this one, I'm finally done
getting married.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
That that is seven. That is not how many. I
don't think it was. Actually it was five.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
I think five, well five times including Ben twice, right.

Speaker 7 (16:17):
Which that's your cap for like three?

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Man, she'll get married again. Yeah, he loves love.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Well, there's certain women that feel like they gotta know,
bounce right out of relationship right into another relationship. Yeah,
that's their identity. I mean not to say that guys
wouldn't do the same thing, but j Lo it feels like,
now if she goes back to p Ditty and then
we know that that's that's trouble. I doubt that's probably
not gonna happen. Yeah, I hope that she's.

Speaker 6 (16:47):
Jenny from the Block. We gotta give rid.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
I don't think she's just Jenny from the Block anyore, No,
who is it?

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Chris Judd was at the backup? Was that a dancer
for her?

Speaker 6 (16:58):
It was she dated another backup dancer. So it's either
Hollywood guys or backup dancers. Either one you got a shot.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I do. I'm an actor and a backup dancer.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
But it would imagine if you met her, she was like,
can you get me in one of Adams move I
just I've been dying to get into a Sandler movie
and he just won't return my calls.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Can you help me? I saw what you did for
Derrick Henry.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Yeah, you know what? How about Grown Ups three? I'm
gonna get you in Grown Ups three? How about that?

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Can you believe that we've lived in an era where
Demi Moore would call you for fantasy football advice?

Speaker 2 (17:35):
I know.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
That was an odd time.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
That was a real time in the in the history
of this show. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. We're like, hey, Dan,
we need we need some fantasy football advice.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
I know that really happened. You know, I had her number,
that really happened. I still have her number. Oh, I
have her number, but I haven't used it. I only
that one time when she wanted me to call her
back with fantasy And now once again when when she says,
you know, in that Demi Moore voice, hey hey, Dan,
can you call me back for some fantasy advice? And

(18:11):
I'm thinking, alrighty, never mind, my mind raced a little bit.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Yes didn't.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
Katy Perry wants tweet like suck it back row? Yes
she did.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Yes, Yes, let's take a break here, all right, take
a break. We're back after this on The Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
Hey, what's up, everybody?

Speaker 13 (18:46):
It's me three time pro bowler Levarrington, and I couldn't
be more excited to announce a podcast called Up on Game?

Speaker 4 (18:53):
What is up on Game?

Speaker 13 (18:54):
You asked, along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Hitchman
Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right, Plexico Burus.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen
to Up on Game with me lebar Arrington, T J.

(19:16):
Hutchman's Outa and Plexico Burrs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple
Podcast or wherever you get your podcast from.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Still making plans on going out for the USC game,
bringing everybody out there. We'll give you all the information.
Hopefully we have a studio audience that we're allowed to
have that, but still working on some things. In fact,
the big German is at South Bend today talking to
some of the higher ups there. Going to be doing that,
and still planning on going to Vegas for Formula one.

(19:49):
I know very little about Formula one, but beautiful people
will be there in Vegas and we thought we should
be there too.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Seaton would update the poll results.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
I would love, Dan okay, I love to update the
poll results. We have two of them up there right now,
the first one of which is more exciting playing football
pick six or kick return pick six. That fifty of
that boat Viking ceiling check right now people have them
as a sneaky wild card team.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
Take that's kind of measured, but all.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Right, yeah uh Dan and Ohio, Hi Dan, what's on
your mind today?

Speaker 14 (20:26):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (20:26):
What's up? Dan?

Speaker 14 (20:26):
Patrick?

Speaker 4 (20:27):
Hey Dan?

Speaker 14 (20:29):
Thanks for calling me back?

Speaker 15 (20:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Uh.

Speaker 14 (20:34):
Best of the weekend, Oh Mom, Mom and fee a
laugh them the long arm of the long No, the Steelers, man,
it was. It was a new refreshing, arising to see
that happen. Worse of the weekend. The Dolphins were just terrible,

(20:57):
terrible and the brown of the Browns.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
All right, well, thank you Dan breaking it down. The
Browns are the Browns, Dolphins of the Dolphins. Greg and
Daytona Beach. Hi, Greg, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 15 (21:15):
Hello gentlemen, Good morning, five eleven two in a quarter
working on seventy seven years old. Thanks for your show.
I love it listen to you every day.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Dan.

Speaker 15 (21:26):
I want to comment about when the professional football change
from running to passing. I happened to be there in
San Diego in the Marine Corps at the time. It
goes back to the head coach of the San Diego
Charges in the old AFL, Sid.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Gilliam Or Gillum, Sid Gilman.

Speaker 15 (21:47):
Sid Gilman was very very good friends with Don Coriel
from San Diego State, who later became Don Air Coriel.
That was the beginning of the West Coast so called
passing game. They brought in a quarterback by the name
of Dan Fabbs, who we all know. But that's where

(22:07):
it started.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
And they well they had John Hadel before that, John Hadel,
Gary Garrison, Lance Allworth, so that was before Dan Founce.
But thank you for the phone call, Greg, Yeah, Marvin.

Speaker 6 (22:22):
Is that where it started the disappointing Charger season. Uh,
Dan Fouts and Kellen Winslow. That's get to Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Chuck Munsey, little train, James lying on, Little trained James.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Yes, Tom, Charlie Joyner, Thank you, Tom. I was right
in his wheelhouse.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (22:49):
Did they have a West or others? Another receiver?

Speaker 2 (22:52):
They had a former quarterback at Florida West, Chandler Chandler.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
That's the one West Chandler.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
That's pretty good grip. You're to win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Chargers couldn't get past the Bengals in the AFC title game.

Speaker 6 (23:07):
Unacceptable.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Let's see Dane in Texas. Hi, Dane, what's on your mind?

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Today.

Speaker 10 (23:15):
Ah bueno, Donielle, don Dean. I've got a best and
worse in a possible club. We could be members of
my best. I'll start with the song you remember this.
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee.

(23:35):
That's right, Mia Migo Joey l Ombre Aguilar drops Setanta
dos on East Tennessee. My worst was that star spangled
banner in Brazil. I don't know what they were playing,
especially the bass player. You know, I have no musical skills,
but I'm convinced I could go to Brazil tomorrow and

(23:57):
be the best bass player in Brazil.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Thank you, Thank you, Dane.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
I did not know we were going to go Brazil
and bass players Dorsey in North Carolina. Hi Doris, Hi Dan,
how are you great?

Speaker 16 (24:19):
I am too so far. Course of the weekend absolutely
the Braves getting beat by eighteen runs and overshirting runs
over the weekend. It's that embraced fan all my life.
But the best of the weekend was the Niners coming
back and winning that game Sunday.

Speaker 8 (24:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
I figured it was going to be a slugfest.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
It was going to be ugly and rock purty is
iffy For Week two, George Kittle probably out a couple
of weeks with a hamstring, and they're already banged up.
They're short on skill position players, or at least they're
normal starters. And if Rock Purty is out, who's the
backup quarterback?

Speaker 4 (25:00):
You know, Marvin?

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Do you know your backup quarterback with the forty nine ers?

Speaker 6 (25:04):
As a matter of fact, I don't. Oh the legend
Mac Jones.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
Oh that's right, all right.

Speaker 6 (25:11):
I forgot about the Pro bowler.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
And so it begins. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
You don't want him looking over your shoulder. Hey, I
just got nervous for Brock.

Speaker 6 (25:22):
Yes, Todd, And if Mac isn't available, you've got the
dangerous Curtis Rourke in the number three spot for the Niners.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
That's a former Indiana quarterback, beef, So Curtis Rork, mister Rourke, Come.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
On, Mac Jones, return of the Mac.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Okay, didn't he make the playoffs first year? Then he
won ten games?

Speaker 6 (25:41):
He did, and went to the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah, then went to Jacksonville and now with San Francisco.

Speaker 6 (25:48):
Yes, Mac Jones one of those guys to me that
got a bad rap. I think coaching did him in.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Yes, definitely, I agree for sure.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Matt Patricia was like the offensive coordinator.

Speaker 17 (25:56):
He had a defensive coordinator for two years as his
offensive coordinat unbelievable that one year they split it between
like the like special teams coach and the defense and
old defensive court.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
It was the craziest thing ever.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
I kept thinking, Okay, is Belichick just trying to prove, Oh,
you think I'm a genius, I'm even more of a genius.
I can take my defensive coordinator making my offensive coordinator.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
Now I'm not welcome back there. I wonder, Yeah, I
don't know what's he doing? What the hell are you doing? Dude?

Speaker 2 (26:24):
And then Rabel said he's been back to the Patriots.
And then he won't let the Patriots scouts go on
campus to watch North Carolina. Why see, you don't want
the Patriots to do well, but you don't want your
kids to do well either. You don't want scouts coming
in there.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Man, they're getting petty.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
That's not good. That doesn't feel like that's ever going
to be healed between him and Robert Craft. But you know,
when you think about it, if Tom Brady doesn't win
a Super Bowl in Tampa, how ticked is he Ill
when he got kicked to the curb.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
I mean, if he.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Doesn't win the Superman. I mean, he got the ultimate
scoreboard winning the Super Bowl. But you want to talk
about being embarrassed. It's like Tom was going door to
door trying to get a job the Bears, the Raiders.
He's trying to see if somebody will take him, which

(27:26):
is amazing that the Raiders kept Derek Carr. And when
I was first told, nobody else knew this about the Bears.
But he inquired about going to the Bears. You imagine
the Bears, who haven't had any good quarterbacks, and they're like, no,
they were not interested in you, Tom. And then he

(27:47):
goes to Tampa and he ends up winning a super Bowl.
I mean, that's what's humbling now, Belichick, at least he
got what four years of bad football, you know, to
try to prove himself, and then he was shown the door.
Now I don't know the inner workings of what Robert
Kraft was doing. I hope Belichick didn't put Robert Craft
on his resume as a reference because it feels like,

(28:11):
you know, and Seth Wickersham, who wrote that book about
the Patriots, did allude to that last hour of some
of the things that Robert Craft was probably telling other owners,
probably Arthur Blank the Falcon because we thought he was
going to the Falcons. We thought, all right, that's an
upgrade for the Falcons. And then all of a sudden,
it's like, Falcons aren't going to bring him in, and

(28:34):
I thought, Wow, somebody's saying something about him.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
Yes, Marvin, I haven't.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
Read the book on the Patriots, but was this Belichick's
decision to let Brady go or was it Craft and
Belichick together.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
I don't know the inner workings there.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I mean, I've had people who have worked there, but
they're really very tight lipped because they didn't want to
tell you anything. They were really really paranoid that house.
You know, Bill would find out if they said something.
And there are a couple of teams that are like
that that I have associates or friends who work with

(29:09):
the team, but there they'll just say, you know, I
can't do it, I can't I can't tell you anything.
And I'm very respectful of that because at the end
of the day, they have a job to do and
I have a job to do. I can ask the question,
but if they don't feel like they want to be forthcoming.
And I've had somebody who got in trouble and it's
never been made public, and I'm not about to do

(29:31):
it now. But he gave me information and somebody in
power knew that there were only a couple of people
who had that information, and he got verbally spanked. But
and you know, I felt bad, But I didn't know that,
you know, they were going to be able to have
a paper trail and basically say you're the one, you're

(29:54):
the source. And I felt bad. Eric and Tucson, Hi, Eric,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 18 (30:01):
Good morning Dan. I appreciate you taking my calls in
the morning. Boys say, I'll make it real quick, best
and not really the worst. UH football is the best.
And I'm going back to week going to college football
mark two games week one, UH, carring into Thursday, Friday,
Sunday and Monday.

Speaker 10 (30:17):
UH.

Speaker 18 (30:17):
And then this gonna be a little bit of a acknowledgement,
not really about to work. And I'll make it real quick.
Just the rules committee. I've actually enjoyed the rule changes,
the tweak to the kickoff, UH, the UH virtual first
down a little quirky but not bad.

Speaker 8 (30:33):
UH.

Speaker 18 (30:33):
The replay assists. They had a couple of those there
quick there, in and out and then lastly, uh just
so that a couple of years. But when they took
away the headhunting, a lot of big hits over the
weekend all were cleaned. Didn't miss any any real uh
impact to the game. So you know, we go the
other way a lot with the rules and and how
how they getting away, And I just want to go
a little bit of acknowledgement and then gain one last comment,

(30:56):
And this really just goes back to your comments about Belichick.
I'm been curious about it. Who made him sound more
irrelevant still or Bill BELLI?

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Yet, well, Bill is still relevant. I mean his games.
You know, his games are going to be televised. People
are still talking about him. Phil could have been the
next Arnold Palmer. He could have been the ambassador for
the tour. But he decided that he wanted the money
or needed the money from live tour and then disappeared.

(31:25):
But he could have been I think the next great
ambassador for the game. And I lost contact with Phil
a long time ago. But you know, I don't know
family situation or you know, all you do is you
hear things but if he's happy with what he's doing,
good for him then is if Amy, his wife is healthy,

(31:49):
then that's all that matters. Andrew in Michigan, Hi Andrew.

Speaker 19 (31:56):
Hey Dan, how you doing today?

Speaker 4 (31:57):
Great?

Speaker 16 (31:59):
Hey?

Speaker 19 (31:59):
I heard you guys asking which games were kind of
sticking in the head after the weekend, And the two
performances that stuck out to me were Michael Pennix for Atlanta.
I mean that guy hit his back foot and the
ball was out almost every single drop back. He just
looked very efficient. I like the way they were going
to look to start the year. And then also I

(32:20):
thought Justin Herbert he had an absolutely insane start to
the season. Eight different receivers that he made completions to.
I think he only missed ten or eleven passes all day.
And I would love to know how many of those
were drops. It seemed like several of them were right
in guy's bread baskets. This could be a big breakout
year for Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Yeah, and you know, I thought that Jim was going
to run the football as he always does. I mean
last year Herbert was economically great, great TD to interception ratio,
but you know he wasn't thrown for a lot of yards.
I just want to see him use his legs and
we even talked about that in the offseason when I
spoke to him. He should be doing what Josh Allen's doing,

(33:02):
and you saw that a little bit in the Kansas
City game. All Right, more phone calls coming up. Last
call for phone calls. What we learn, what's in store tomorrow.
We'll try to accomplish that right after this.

Speaker 1 (33:11):

Speaker 2 (33:23):
David Carr from NFL Network will join us tomorrow. Mark
Sanchez was going to join us today but something came up,
so he will join us on the program tomorrow. I'm
watching The Residents and it's about the White House and
there's a murder in the White House and it's an
eight part series.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
I just finished it. It's good. I wanted it to
be great. I thought it was good.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
And if you're just looking for something during the week,
if there's nothing else to watch, no sports, it's good.
There's some really entertaining characters in there. And what's the
High School Catfit documentary Marvin.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
Yeah, it's on Netflix, High School Catfish and the ending
is crazy. The entire thing is nuts, and just seeing
what happens that is watching it unfold, It's like, this
can't be real, but it was.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
This is the girl's mom who is sending text messages
to her boyfriend.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
See.

Speaker 6 (34:22):
I didn't want to spoil the ending spoiler alert, but
it is a crazy story, like this person just sending
all these text messages over a two year period.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Okay, well, it's a famous story to their own kid
to did was the mom sending it to her daughter?

Speaker 6 (34:41):
Correct? Of the daughter? The mom was sending it to
their daughter and the daughter's boyfriend.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
And I didn't know that it was a famous story.
My wife was like, yeah, I knew what happened, but
just watching it unfold and then all the participants, including
the mom, are in this documentary.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
Dang mom.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
Jim in Florida, Hi Jim, what's on your mind? Hey?

Speaker 10 (35:01):
Dan?

Speaker 9 (35:02):
I was listening to you earlier talking about tequila fort
alesa yeah, and how it pairs nicely with a cigar,
and one hundred percent agree with you on that. But
I did want to clear one thing up with you.
I'm friends with the owner. His name is Guierra Moo Salsa. Yeah,
and he's a fourth generation tequila producer and it's a

(35:25):
very small batch, all natural, no editive tequila and it
is still being produced. However, the reason why it's so
difficult to find is because he only produces so much,
a very small batch, and the retail stores he's having
a hard time keeping up with production, and the retail
stores are having a difficult time keeping it on the shelves.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Oh well, tell him that it's a great product.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
And I used to be able to get it the
Repisodo and now maybe a blanco occasionally, but it's a
great tequila. And telling congratulations. And you know, if he
starts ramping up the assembly line there, let me know,
keep me in mind.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
But thank you.

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Jim Doug in New York, Hi Doug, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 5 (36:13):
Weighing in today at one eighty five five eight used
to be one twenty five five, ten and a half.
But that's what forty plus years of my wife's good cook.

Speaker 10 (36:21):
And I'll do to you.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
So connection with Demi Moore, Demi Moore, I know you
all are still fantasizing about her fantasizing with you. But
did you know that she was once on the cover
of Cigar Aficionado, Dan, I think you got to tie
in there. You need to work.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
No, I'm not working at any angles to me more, Uh,
I didn't make the cover. I wasn't famous enough to
make the cover of Cigar Aficionado. I was in an issue.
I just didn't I didn't make the cover and probably
shouldn't have because that's when people go, who is that guy?

(37:04):
Is that that guy Jim Patrick from Sports Center?

Speaker 6 (37:07):
Yes, Marvin, is there a magazine article that you did
and you thought to yourself, I made it?

Speaker 2 (37:14):
HM, Well, back in the day when TV Guide used
to be something really important, back in the mid nineties,
I remember that we were on the cover, a small
picture of us on the cover of TV Guide as
like a must see show. That's Sports Center when I
was doing that with Keith Oberman. That was a big deal.

Speaker 6 (37:37):
Yes, I thought you had an article in Playboy or
something that's.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
I was in Playboy twice.

Speaker 6 (37:42):
That's fabulous. Yeah, that was at the top of the
reservator me.

Speaker 4 (37:45):
Yeah, that was a big deal. And then.

Speaker 10 (37:50):
What was it?

Speaker 2 (37:50):
S Squire magazine GQ also or GQ maybe it was GQ.
Scott rab was the writer. Very funny guy. He's the
guy who wrote The Horror of akron N. I read
that book and I went, oh my god, because he
hated that Lebron left Cleveland and he wrote a book
called The Horror of akron Damn.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Pretty catchy title. Yeah, yeah, I remember it.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
I mean yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think if there
was anything, I mean, Playboy they asked the uh the questions.
Was it fifteen questions or something like that, twenty questions? Yeah,
and that's Pam Anderson Prime. Pam Pammy is on the
cover of that one.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yes.

Speaker 7 (38:36):
Did they give you the centerfold or just the article?

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Just article?

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (38:40):
That I had one one or two pictures in there
fully clothed him.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Just a tie, Yeah, a long tie.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
A tie goes to the runner.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
Hey, Todd, what I apologize they only got through the
first three answers to the question from that article.

Speaker 6 (39:01):
I had some of the things that take a look
at there.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
Surprised you lasted three.

Speaker 6 (39:04):
I did get three, and I'm like, you know what,
there's got to be something else in here.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
I got wa do I have that here. Oh, hold
on second, talk amongst yourself.

Speaker 6 (39:13):
Hey, what's going on? Guys?

Speaker 4 (39:15):
That would be a pretty cool uh uh magazine to
be in.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
That. Absolutely, that's definitely a sort of like I made it.
If they're asking me to do an interview in a
magazine like this, then I'm somebody.

Speaker 6 (39:27):
Then I take that a best eye over sports illustrations.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
Yeah, aggress that, but sure why not?

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Okay, So it's twenty questions featured in Playboy Sports Desk
Jockey on Felonies, strip clubs, and my basketball players are
the best athletes.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
So that's the.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
That's one of the coolest things ever.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
That's a fellow bringing some heat right there.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
If I've ever seen it, Hey, now, yeah.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
You definitely dressed like the cool teacher like you know
mister Patrick. Oh, he's the coolest talk amongst.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
Teacher in a sitcom.

Speaker 8 (40:08):
He does?

Speaker 7 (40:09):
He does, I would say, serving looks.

Speaker 6 (40:12):
Yes, they teach from head of the class.

Speaker 7 (40:15):
The pants always rode a little bit.

Speaker 17 (40:16):
Here.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
It comes with another one, Jimmy, if you don't pass
this test, you can't play this weekend's game.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Like the white versions hanging with mister Cooper, this is
the cover.

Speaker 6 (40:27):
I feel bad for everyone that's listening radio.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
And yeah, I know, I know this isn't good radio.
But you can just envision the cover of Playboy with pam.

Speaker 6 (40:35):
This is what I learned today.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
You were the interview in uh in an uh a pa,
Pamela Anderson Playboy.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
This is the history of Sports Center. It says the
oral history.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
No, it does.

Speaker 8 (40:49):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
Uh oh those were the days. Yeah, huh wow.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Just like that, the show's over it. You know, I
honestly we thought we had two more segments.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
You hold that up.

Speaker 10 (41:02):
One more.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
That's what we learned.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
