Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's the final hour on this Tuesday. Reggie Miller will
stop by. We'll assess the situation in Memphis with John Morant,
and it feels like it's not a question of if,
but when he is sent packing and what do you
get in return for someone like John Morant. Also, Reggie
came out with his mount rushmore of dunkers. I got

(00:25):
a problem with reg because three of the four okay,
but I can't put Zach Levine on there and not
doctor j. I'm gonna give Reggie a do over. He'll
join us in about twenty minutes from now eight seven
seven to three. DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com,
Twitter handle a DP show say good morning, Good morning.

(00:46):
If you're watching on Peacock, Thank you for downloading the
app stat of the Day brought to you by Patini America,
the official trading cards of the program. Good morning to
our radio affiliates. Thank you for allowing us into your
daily life. We got the whole gang here, Fritzie sat
and Marv Paul yours truly in the back room, guys.
NFL trade deadline still kind of quiet. The Bengals sent

(01:06):
linebacker Logan Wilson to the Cowboys. That'll fix everything. The
Cardinals handled the Cowboys twenty seven seventeen, and both teams
have three wins on the year. If you're Dallas and
you're going to make a move and you're not going
to get somebody younger, I don't know how old Logan

(01:26):
Wilson is. I know that he wanted out of Cincinnati
that I want to make a deal because you're not
going to make a deal where you're the Philadelphia Eagles
and you go, hey, we got these guys now, and
you know they're going to help us maybe win another
Super Bowl. The Cowboys aren't winning anything. So that's where
if you make a move, make a move where you

(01:47):
pick up somebody who's going to be there for a
few years. I don't want to rental and Jerry Jones
last night teased that they had or they were going
to make a trade. I don't know if they tried
to get an edge rusher here, maybe another defensive back maybe,
But you're the Cowboys, you got three wins, you're kind

(02:10):
of non threatening right now. It's the other teams who
were picking up players. Can I get somebody who's a
little bit younger, and that would be what I want
to know the Cowboys are doing if they get somebody
and you know, Trey Hendrickson is thirty years of age
and has a one year deal, and then you're going
to get back into the edge rusher. How much are

(02:30):
we going to pay Trey Hendrickson if he's going to
stay with Dallas. So that's sort of what I'm looking for.
Who's buying, who's selling, and if the Dolphins are you know,
Bradley Chubb. We just talked to Jay Glazer. He thinks
Bradley Chubb he's on the block. The question is what
are you going to get? And that's really what this
is about.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
The next five hours is about, Okay, you want him,
how badly do you want him? Okay, you want to
get rid of him? How badly do you want to
get rid of him? Now it becomes a little bit
more of a chess game. I spent a lot of
time talking about Kyler Murray in the first hour. You
can go to Dan Patrick dot com. Even though Kyler
Murray didn't even play, Jacoby Brissett played. But Jacoby Brissette

(03:12):
is a better quarterback for this team than Kyler Murray.
And you saw that last night, because Marvin Harrison should
be a Pro Bowl wide receiver. He had seven catches,
that's a career high for him, ninety six yards, had
a touchdown, and Jacoby Brissett had a couple of touchdown passes.
He ran for another score. Now, I want to bring

(03:35):
back something that Mark Schlareth said and Stink's former offensive
line with the Broncos, and he shares his story from
Byron Lefwich about Tom Brady operating the offense and juxtaposing
that with quarterbacks who scramble like Kyler Murray. So this
is October first, and here is Mark Schlareth.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
I was talking of Byron left which when Tom Brady
was playing for the Damn Bay Buccaneers, and I said,
what has been the most amazing thing about Tom? He said, Hey, listen,
if I call CIRL flat, which is the first day,
like first day operation curl flat, everybody name league runs
curl flat. And your first read is the flat like
it's just a you know, a back or tight end
that's in the flat, right, whatever it is, and that

(04:19):
flat is open, and that's the first read in the progression.
Tom will take it one hundred out of one hundred times,
never get bored taking the profit, and he'll put us
in second down and six minus and then the entirety
of the offense is open.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
We're on schedule.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
You hear people say that all the time.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
On schedule.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
There are some quarterbacks that don't want to throw it.
Let me see what I can get at hey, let
me see if I can get something better. Let me
see if I can get something better. You got to
fall in love with the boring. And that's why guys
who scramble around. Most guys who scramble around don't win
championships because you gotta be You can't like ultimately. Like
I look at Kyler Murray and do you want to

(04:58):
win football games? Or do you want to make Sports
Center highlights? That was that was what I would ask, like,
because I want to I want to win football games.
And the way you win is staying out a third
down and long. And the way you stay out a
third down long is you have success on first and
second down. And so if somebody's going to give me
a gift, somebody's going to give me a five yard

(05:20):
quick out, and I pass it by because I want
something better or I want to make a highlight play.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
What's selfish football. So that's Mark Schlareth and that really
sums up what you get with these younger quarterbacks, Kyler Murray,
Caleb Williams. Where you're scrambling trying to make a play.
He's talking about the greatest quarterback of all time is
going to take what is right there one hundred out
of one hundred times. Kyler Murray doesn't do that. Kyler

(05:51):
Murray is out of the pocket. And here's another thing,
And I mentioned this with Chris Canty. He's on the
morning show on ESPN and and he was talking about
this this morning. He said, when you play with the
quarterback who stays sort of in his little bubble there,
he's not going right or left. If you're a wide
receiver and I run my route, I know where the

(06:12):
ball is coming from. I know where it's coming from.
I don't have to look to find my quarterback. And
that's the difference with Kyler Murray and Jacoby Brissett. Now
I'm not saying Jacoby Brissett is a great quarterback, but
I do think he understands the position and maybe Kyler
Murray does not. Or relying on his athleticism instead of

(06:33):
just taking what the defense gives you. Caleb has this issue.
Cam Ward has this issue. A lot of your young
quarterbacks do. But if you knew the greatest quarterback in
NFL history takes a five yard out because now it's
second and five instead of second and ten, take it. It's

(06:56):
right there. Also, you help the lineman. The lineman know, well, okay,
my quarterback's back there. I only have to block for
two seconds and he's going to get the ball out.
You saw Marvin Harrison, that's his best game. But it's
because Jacoby Brissett is going to put him in a

(07:17):
position where all he has to do is make his move,
beat his man and then grab the ball instead of
where's my quarterback? And it's so that's coming from an
offensive lineman's perspective, and I thought Mark Schleritt did a
wonderful job summing that up. All right, poll question for
the final hour the program is going to be what
their seat?

Speaker 5 (07:37):
And O'Connor, yeah, I think that that's so interesting too.
Just like back to your point real quick about if
you're a wide receiver and you run seven yards and cut,
you can look to one spot to know generally where
the quarterback is going to be or for you know,
Lamar Jackson's back there, he might be fifteen yards over
this way or fifteen yards over that way, and you

(07:57):
really have no idea where he's going to be coming from.
That's got to be incredibly difficult. That's something I would
have never really thought of.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Yeah, and that's why Chris Canty, a former defensive lineman,
He's saying, you know, when you know where your quarterback's
throwing from, Yeah, you know, so I make my move
and I know that if I'm open, the ball is
coming from the pocket, not to the right or to
the left. Do I have to make an adjustment? Now,
obviously there are times when you do that. But Brady

(08:26):
didn't extend plays, Peyton Manning didn't extend plays. But they
will take If you give me five, I'm taking five.
Why wouldn't I on first down? That's a no brainer.
But here is Byron left Witch talking about, you know
what made Brady great? Just take that it's right in

(08:47):
front of you. It's a gift. Yeah, Paulie.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
There's different stats you could find next gen stats, and
the players who spend the most time from snap to
releasing the football. Some of the names are Kayla Williams,
JJ McCarthy, Camera Ward is up there. They're all in
that top five group. Jalen Hurts is up there and
it's centering. He's having in not the best season of
his career, a little more time in the pocket.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Well, he's not a great passer, but I think he's
such a great competitor that I think Jalen Hurts finds
a way to win. I don't think he puts himself
in positions to lose games. I think for the most part,
he might not beat you with his arm, but he
will find a way to win. So I would take
him out of the equation because we've seen what he's

(09:30):
done in two Super Bowls, So I would take him
out of that. So, Seaton, what do we have for
the final hour? Yeah, we got three pole questions up
there right now.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
The starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals should be Jacoby
Prissett has eighty two percent of that vote over Kyler Murray.
Whose career would you want going forward? Sixty five percent
take John Morant over Kyler Murray. And which team is
in better shape, the Cardinals or the Cowboys. Do you
want to guess?

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Cardinals? Sixty seventy three Cardinals? Okay, all right, a couple
of phone calls here. Reggie will join his in about
ten minutes from now. Jason and Maryland. Hi, Jason, what's
on your mind today?

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Hey? You dang guys.

Speaker 7 (10:08):
I appreciate you taking my call and you and Jay
Blazer talk about taking care of each other and mental
health and physical health whether that was awesome. And I
just wanted to thank you for what you all do
every day, you know, to help us through when we
get by. And I was going through something several weeks ago,
and you all had a Friday show about the most
infamous moments in show history, and man, that was a classic.

(10:31):
Just to run through all those I spent the entire
weekend watching the Mickey Rivers rehash with you and Sean Salisbury.
I probably watched it fifteen or twenty times. And that's
better than any Prozac or any of those commercial ads
that you can get.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Man.

Speaker 7 (10:46):
I appreciate you, guys, And if you can play that
sometime like once a week or something, that's going to
benefit the mental health of America.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Thank you. Jason. Nothing wrong with leading on somebody, and
I was somebody who never did and I leaned on
Jay Glazier and I'm thankful. But you know what, he
is a guy that you can lean on. He's been
through a lot and he talks about that mental health.
And I something told me called Jay Glazer and I did,

(11:18):
and you know, he helped change my life. So let's
see Michael and Fort Wayne. Hi, Mike, what's on your
mind today?

Speaker 8 (11:28):
Hey Dan, thanks for taking my call. Shout out to
Aaron and Fort Wayne as well. Last week you said
something on your show that made me yell at my
Peacock app for the first time. Okay, before I disclose
what that was, though, I would just like to ask
you one preceding question. You have said that you went
to see Britney Spears live when she was at her peak. Yes,

(11:51):
could you briefly explain what motivated you to do so.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Because I think a lot of people talk about they
either listen to a show or they or they won't
listen to a show, or they won't listen to an artist,
or I don't like that. I've never been that way,
and I thought, you know what, let me go see
what this is all about. And I was in Los
Angeles and I went, and I will say the beer

(12:17):
lines were non existent. That was great, and I thought
you put on a great performance. So that's that's why
I went to see her.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (12:25):
So it sounds to me like you're saying that you
went to see Brittany because she was culturally significant at
the time, and for that exact same reason. I really
think that you owe it to yourself to go into
your basement at home or a tequila light a cigar
and watch what is the cinematic masterpiece of this generation,

(12:48):
the Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Well, you're probably right, Michael, I should. The problem is
I don't have an attention span. It's really, really, really limited,
and I don't know if I would. Okay, I never
watch a show all the way through. If I'm streaming
like only Murders in the Building, I I'll get like

(13:11):
thirteen minutes in and then I'll turn it off, just
trying to focus. And I don't do a great job
that I would want to give it what it really
needs and that would be the time to do it.
But yes, I should watch Lord of the Rings.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I should.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
My son says, Dad, you'd like it, okay, And I
might get around to that, you know what, I retire.
That's that's what I'm gonna do. Lord of the Rings.
Maybe I read Harry Potter and watch the movies as well.
I'm going to be so busy.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Hermione basically does everything.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
It's no spoilers. People get so upset and seating. Like
Harry does straight things. He saved everybody. Actually, if you've
actually seen the movies, you would know that he actually
does quite a bit. Yes, Paul.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
He first Lord of the Rings movie is called The
Fellowship of the Ring Think. It came out twenty years ago.
It got almost universally great ratings from all the reviewers.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Okay, well reviewed, Okay, all.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Right, they are fun, they're they're great movies. They really are.
But if you're not into that kind of thing, you're
still gonna hate it.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I'm not into that. I mean that.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Yeah, if you're not into it, you're really gonna hate it.
I'm not necessarily into it, but I can be. And
those were great movies. They were so good.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
And what's the other show that had and it had
the guy Snow that he was the hero, John Snow,
John Snow who.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Throw? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
I never watched that either.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
The first season's great.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I watched the first episode and then somebody got pushed
out of a window and then I go, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Yeah, that's like five minutes into the episode, and that's
all like a little kid gets thrown out of the window,
and I was done after five minutes. There was so
much It's actually like the perfect scene because there is
so much happening that is grossly inappropriate in just that
one scene that you're like, Okay, this is the tone
setter for the entire series, and it does not fail

(15:12):
to deliver on that.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Let's take a break, and I got problems with Reggie Miller,
his his mount Rushmore of Dunkers. I'm gonna give him
a redo on this, and then we'll talk about the
John Moran situation with Memphis. We're back after this.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio w app.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Hey, It's Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington from The Odd
Couple on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 9 (15:40):
And in addition to hearing us live week nights from
seven to ten pm Eastern on Fox Sports Radio, we
are excited to announce brand new YouTube channel for the show.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
That's right, you can now watch the Odd Couple live
on YouTube every day.

Speaker 9 (15:55):
All you gotta do search Odd Couple FSR on YouTube
again YouTube, Just search Odd Couple FSR. Check us out
on YouTube and subscribe.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
All right, Before I get to Reggie Miller, he was
on the Rushmore podcast and Reggie was asked the mount
Rushmore of dunkers. He said, Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, and
Dominique Wilkins, and then came the fourth one.

Speaker 10 (16:22):
I said, the fourth is very difficult. It's very very difficult.
I will go with I do like.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Okay, Okay, Nice's bringing Reggie Miller. Reggie, you'll be on
the call the Clippers and Oklahoma City coming up tonight. Okay,
I said it, and it No, you're not you left out, doctor.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
J I said it to change it right now?

Speaker 2 (17:04):
You panic, read you don't panic.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
I didn't panic. I thought, first of all, we all
had to have come to a consensus. So that was
my list. Shack had an entirely He had power Dunkers
on his list to omit arguably the founding father of
the dunk It's a slight omission from my end, but

(17:31):
I was going by current events. Zach Levine, in my opinion,
if you've seen some of our dunk contests over the
last ten plus years, he's right up there. Yes, Doctor
J should be in there, and arguably he was at
the end of the day, because all four of us
that had this roundtable discussion had to agree on the

(17:57):
top four. And yes, people, Doctor J did make the
mount rushmore of dunkers.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Because I want to know what you do in a game.
There's a lot of guys who can dunk in a contest.
I don't care very true, because you know, if that's
the case, I'm taking Mac McClung.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
That's probably as bad as take as Zach Lavine.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
On my end, No, no, no, I'm gonna take Mac McClung
over Zach Levine. The greatest dunkers between those two.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Well showmanship, because if that's the case, you could put
Aaron Gordon in there as well. Because Aaron Gordon and
Zach Lavine, those two dunk contests between those two guys
could have been the best ever.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
I just want in game dunkers. Sean Kemp in game dunker,
Dominique in game dunker, Mike Vince Carter in game Dunker,
Doctor j in Game Dunker.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
You can make a case for Zach Lavine. We would
have to go on We would have to go on
YouTube for a few hours and try to find some
of those, but we could find a couple of them well.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
And then Shaq didn't like your take though on your
fourth dunker there.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
But again he was going with power dunkers Kenyan Martin.
I mean, he didn't sell he put himself in there.
But this is what I'm up again, going against the
big fella.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Okay, let me get to a serious topic here with
Yah Morant, because this feels like this is there's no
turning back here. It feels like Jahn Morant's checked out. Now,
if you're Memphis, what do you do? Where do you
send him? Or do you see that maybe there's hope
that he reconnects and re engages here or is that

(19:42):
ship Sue?

Speaker 3 (19:45):
I believe the ship has sailed, and I think the
only way you're going to be able to turn course
is if you get a new coach in there, because
if they keep the current administration, jaw has checked out.
I didn't like the comments or the body language after that.
Laker game and listening to the comments last night after

(20:06):
the loss at home against Detroit, it was almost even worse.
Body language tells me everything and just looking at it,
he has checked out. And you know, I looked at
their roster. The oldest player on their roster is thirty

(20:27):
two year old Contavious Caldwell, Pope champion when he was
with Denver, and he's thirty two and he's still fairly young.
There is no one on that team to go to
John and say, dude, yeah, you got to get it together.
And I think that's been a theme over the last

(20:50):
five to ten years looking at some of these rosters
is not having veterans on them. I know this league
is getting younger, but to me, John needs someone pull
them aside, show them some clips, I mean, because this
is a bad look. And if you're Myphis, I think

(21:13):
you start filding calls unless you're gonna fire your coach,
and then that's that's a bad precedent, right.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
But who wants John Moran?

Speaker 3 (21:23):
There'll be a lot of teams that would want John Moran?
Would you what what do you give up for them?

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Okay, if I'm the Hawks, what if the Hawks said
We'll give you Trey Young for John Moran.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
I would seriously think about it.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
If I'm Memphis, I would do that in the second.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
If I'm If I'm the Hawks, I don't know if
I do that. Tray Young is a walking double double.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Oh, I agree, I would. If I could get Trey
Young right now for John Moran.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I would absolutely do it. If you're Memphis.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Yeah, If I'm Atlanta, probably wouldn't do it. But I'm
trying to think of other teams where you're gonna go
he'll fit in like he doesn't fit in. You kind
of have to fit in with him, it feels like.
And he's an unbelievable talent. But are you going to
send him to Detroit or Houston? I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
He would certainly have to change the way he plays,
and I don't think he can't. Theodore. I love John Morant,
but again, looking at that Laker game and looking last
night in that Detroit game, the efforts not there, the
hustle's not there, that the on the court showmanship that

(22:40):
we're used to seeing from Jaw is not there. He
has lost his love for the game. And once you
do that, I don't know if you can ever get
that back in that situation. So what a new lease
on life, a new place, a new destination that's is
that going to clear things up? A new coaching regime?
Is that gonna switch it up again? Both ways? If

(23:06):
he asked for a trade or they trade him, he wins,
it sets a bad precedent. If he fired a coach
and it makes it look like he's a coach killer,
that sets the bad precedence there. There's gonna be no
winners in this situation.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Talking to Reggie Miller, Reggie will be on the call
with Terry Gannon and it'll be Oklahoma City visiting Kawhi.
And is Kawhi playing?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I have no idea. I saw him tweak that ankle
with a little over two minutes left in that fourth quarter.
Looked at the Clippers have always taken, as you know,
a cautious approach. I don't even if he wouldn't have
rolled that ankle. You know, they usually don't play him
in back to backs, though he did come out this

(23:51):
summer and said he wanted to play back to backs,
and I think that's what they were gearing up for.
But after seeing that now again he finished the game,
but it was only two minutes left in that fourth
quarter where they ended up losing by one last night
to the Heat. I don't think he will play because
they will take that caution approach because they need Kawhi
come March April May. So I think they'll they'll take

(24:14):
the caution's approach and probably not play him. From a
selfish standpoint for NBC, yes, I would love for him
to play tonight, going against the defending champs who are undefeated,
but I just don't think they'll take that approach.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Game time is eight pm Pacific on NBC and Peacock.
Is Kawhi's career a disappointment?

Speaker 9 (24:38):
No?

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Are you kidding me? Two rings, two finals MVP? Are
you that was a joke? Right? No?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Because when he played he was great. But I think
when I say Kawhi Leonard, people don't talk about two
rings and two finals MVPs. They talk about a guy
who had load management, almost a face of load management.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
I will also say this, he uh believes on the
all time team with me the top seventy five team
as well. How could that ever be considered a disappointment. Well,
anytime you can win any chip two finals mvts with
two different teams, well two different teams.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
But if I say his name, that what comes up
is that how much he plays or doesn't play? First
Bowel hall of Famer?

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Say this first ballot Hall of Famer and win healthy,
win healthy and playing and engage which he is? Come
playoff time? Man, that dude is a tough out. Yeah,
I would take I would take that career. Please give
me that caller.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
No, you can still have a great career. But also
wonder what could Mike Trout is going to be a
first Bowel Hall of Famer?

Speaker 3 (26:00):
What if? Right?

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Like showbu Kobe and Shack together? What if?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
What if?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Great when they played? But what if? So you can
have those questions.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
But that what if? Those what if that you're saying
for Kobe and Shack they still had three rings together.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
They should have had six.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
They could have I mean, you could have made the
case the same thing for keeping the balls together.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
For one more year? Right for one more Yeah?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
What what if?

Speaker 2 (26:44):
I also want to ask you about your did you
have a power forward?

Speaker 3 (26:47):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Your four power forwards? For the amount rushmore?

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Did you have? That?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Is there?

Speaker 3 (26:52):
We did?

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Marvin? You want to set this up is this the
fourth power forward.

Speaker 11 (26:59):
Yes, Marvin, Yes, So Reggie and Shaq were on the
Rushmore podcast, and so Reggie's four Reggie's first three, excuse me,
was Tim Duncan, Karl Malone, and Kevin Garnett. And he
says his fourth, his fourth isn't shocking, But who he
says could have been one was a little surprising to me.

Speaker 10 (27:15):
All Right, I'm gonna go with sir Charles. I easily
could have put Dennis Rodman in that list. I easily
could have done that on my mount Rushmart.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Okay, all right, do you want with Yeah, it's not bad.
I would have put Here's here's the argument.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Here's the argument that was going on in the room.
Because obviously Yannish probably can and should be. He could
be on my list. Absolutely, I've told people before. I
told the basketball Godsmith, I've said this perfectly. If I
come back, if the basketball gods could bless me with
yan his talent and my jump shot, I would be

(28:02):
the greatest player to have ever played the game. About it. Usually,
just give me Yannis and my jump shot and then
leave me alone. No one would ever be able to
touch me. So, yes, he could have been on my
mount Rushmore. But the argument was going with because Ari Manuel,

(28:24):
it's his podcast. He was going with chips. That's why
Dennis Rodman entered the conversation. And people are like, Dennis
Rodmin is probably only the grandest rebound. How could he?
We're looking at total effects on games. He changed series,
so we started putting numbers up, like what did Charles
average against them? What did carl at? Those numbers dropped

(28:46):
because we were looking at the defensive side too, So
that's why Dennis Rodman, I could say, I could easily
slot them in there. But yes, the honest could be.
The honest was on a lot of other people's top
four arguably should be. Again, give me his talent in
my jump shot and don't say anything else to me.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
I think Kevin McHale would be higher than Dennis Rodman.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
His name was highly disgusted. We agree with that. I
agree with you on that.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Okay, I want to run this up the ladder at
Peacock and NBC the next round of interviews with Michael Jordan.
I would like for you to do the interview.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Okay, how do you say that? Not that it's like
I would love to do it, And this is the
premise we just both walk in a room and sit
down and rolling.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
No no exchange, no, no friendly exchange.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
None of that, none of that. Walk in, sit down,
look at each other and just go whatever comes out
comes out. I love it the look. I want to
do it. I'm low man on the totem pole over
there at NBC right now we're rolling out these features

(30:11):
with the great Mike Tarico, who's done a fabulous job
interviewing MJ. But yes, I would love to have a
have an open dialogue to your door with MJ. Because
there's certain things I would love to like, uh, you know.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Talk about revisit, revisit Okay, i'd like people act like
I don't.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
People act like I don't like MJ. I love MJ.
But when you go against a brother for as many
years as I did, you you built up a certain disdain.
Can you say that? Can I say that you built
up a certain tolerance and there's always mutual respect. I'm

(30:59):
trying to I'm carefully trying to script my words.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, you don't want it to get back to Mike,
And he said, what did you say?

Speaker 3 (31:06):
No? Good, Look, it's only going to get back to
Mike Mike heres and sees everything. He'll always get back
to But I just want him to know how much
I do respect him. But let's just walk in a
room together and just talk.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson has a book that's coming out
and it talks about the exchange that you and Mike
had where you were talking trash to him, and then
I think Phil says, Mike scores like five or six
baskets in a row and saying, don't you ever don't
you ever talk bleep about me or to me again?

(31:40):
Is that true?

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Unfortunately, but you were willing.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
To stand up to Mike, and not many guys did.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
I had an unfiltered mouth, and maybe it was my
upbringing in a military family, uh, being a military brat
and getting my butt beat by my older sister and
older brothers all the time. I had diary of the mouth.
And you, I just could not stop. And I didn't

(32:15):
care who you were or what your accompan accomplishments were.
I felt I was always the best player, knowing I
was didn't knowing I wasn't. But you got to have
that belief. And he looked he put the fear in
a lot of people, and trust me, there was times

(32:36):
so when I was like this dude, but I hadn't
love him, respect him. Damn. I also hated him too.
I did.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
If he would have asked you to join the bulls, would.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
You stop it? Stop it? Please stop that? Like no, no,
there's just no way, no way. And I know people
are gonna be like, well, yeah, that's why you don't
have any rings. Probably, so it's true. You know, I'm
not gonna. I'm not gonna. I'm not. I can't do that.

(33:11):
That goes against That goes against everything I was taught
from Magic and Michael Cooper. That goes against everything. If
you can't beat him, you just go in the corner
and sit down, just go away. Then if you get hey,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
What if Magic called you and said, if Magic said, hey,
would you.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Like to story?

Speaker 2 (33:36):
Now that's different. I'm playing for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
At different the Lakers twice a year.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
All right, I'm running this up the flag pull at NBC.
The next time that Tarico is gonna sit down, Mike
comes in and then Tarico goes, hey, uh, I gotta go.
Reggie's gonna do the interview.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Oh my guys. The fireworks. Some of the things that
would be said. People understand, like Mike and I and
our good friend Jack Hayley, God rest his soul, who's
looking down on us smiling. We hope like we used
to be locked in a room playing tonk, talking shit
and just talking basketball. And there were some things that

(34:23):
were said in the in these it was trust me,
just have him walk in, have me walk in and
just sit down. So I want to look at him.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Do you need to bring the Davis brothers with you
as you walk?

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Well, he's gonna bring with him.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
He brings, Ok, he's bringing, I'm bringing down.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
All right. We'll let the muscle handle each other out
and then he and I can handle our business.

Speaker 2 (34:52):
Reggie will be on the call with Terry Gann and
tonight the Clippers, maybe with Kawhi against Oka see eight
pm Pacific on NBC Peacock. Thank you, reg talk to
you later.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Well, you are truly the best.

Speaker 2 (35:05):

Last call for phone calls. What we learn what's in
store tomorrow. The Raiders are trading wide receiver Jacobe Myers
to the Jags for a fourth and sixth round pick.
Per source is Albert Breer who's giving us that information,
and Vegas doesn't have wide receive They definitely don't have

(35:46):
wide receivers now and trading him to the Jags, So
it's kind of quiet so far. Cowboys making a move defensively.
They brought in Logan Wilson of the Bengals, and he's
a linebacker. He probably stops the run.

Speaker 6 (36:02):
Yes, PAULI, I totally thought that the uh, the New
England Patriots will bring back Jacobe Myers and trade bring him.
He was a good player there for a few years.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
The law firm of Jacobe and Myers. Let me see
Spencer in Seattle. High Spencer, how long are you today?

I gotta nominate check as one of the all time
great dunkers.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I mean he was pulling down hoops and shattering glass.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Well, if we're going to do that, then I'd put
Darryl Dawkins in there because Darryl Dawkins did that before
Shack and Darryl Dawkins named his dunks and he wasn't
in the dunk contest. He was naming his dunks while
dunking in a game. Uh Witt in Michigan, Hi Wit,
