Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Final Hour on this Friday. It's a meat Friday. At
that I'm not going to say it's a controversial one
because the menu. Maybe you wouldn't pair these foods together.
How about non traditional meat Friday. We have jumbo crabcake
sandwiches and we have smoked turkey club sandwiches. Who has
it better than we do? No, No, Final Hour. We'll

(00:27):
talk to Mark Messier. He'll join us. Coming up here momentarily.
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America.
The official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. I
have the point spreads for the games with the Cavaliers.
They are three point favorites against the Pacers at Indiana Thunder,
five point favorites at Denver Celtics tomorrow, five point favorites

(00:49):
against the Knicks, the Timberwolf's five point favorites against the Warriors.
All the road teams are favored. Coming up either tonight
or tomorrow, Age seven to seven to three. DP Show
email address DP at Danpatrick dot com Twitter handle. A
DP show poll question for the final hour of the
program is what seed Well.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
We had an update to a pretty hard hitting controversial
poll question earlier, whose career do you want? Your options
were Spike Lee, Bob Costas, and Mark Messier and Bob
was running away with that one. We've since updated it
to Spike Lee, Bob Costas, Mark Messier, and Pablo Toura. Okay,

(01:31):
all of our guests today correct. Babolaturi has got four
point five percent of that vote. That is a respectable
showing in this group of people right there.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Yeah, you just had a hard hitting report about what's
going on with Bill Belichick and his girlfriend and apparently
she's not allowed to be part of the football festivities
in the building on the football field. I wonder how
Bill is going to respond to that.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yes, Marvin, that's terrible because she's gonna miss North Carolina
winning five games.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Wow, Yes, PAULI.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
I checked, Pablo Tory. No Stanley Cup victories.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
It doesn't act.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
I checked though, and Skate though.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
By the way, Caps beat the Hurricanes that series tied
to the game apiece. Oilers beat the Golden Knights five
to four in overtime. Leon Dreysidle has two overtime game
winning goals this year and that ties him with a
stikin in for the most by any Oiler in a
single postseason. He's a former oiler, Mark Messier joining us

(02:28):
on the program mess Good to see you again. Did
Asa Tikinin make his his hockey debut in the Stanley
Cup Final against Philadelphia? Does that sound right?

Speaker 7 (02:41):
Yeah? Yeah, I think if I remember correctly, I think
it was.

Speaker 8 (02:44):
Nineteen eighty seven. If I remember correctly, he came over,
we had an injury, he slotted in and never looked back.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I took my wife to that game. That was one
of our first dates. I was working and I brought
her to Philadelphia and she knew nothing about hockey. End
of the first period, gretz is on a rush. She
stands up and I almost had almost got in a
fight because these guys behind me were you know, m

(03:17):
F and her and the whole thing. And she, I said,
you got to see Gretzky. So we ended up going
to that series. I just remember a satiking in and
they were like, he's making his as hockey debut, NHL debut,
and I'm like, who does that? You make your debut
in the Stanley Cup Final. Amazing.

Speaker 8 (03:35):
Well, he got on the ice and as you know
I said, was quite a tough customer, an agitator. He
had everybody up in arms, everybody chasing them all over
the ice. Philadelphia had a bunch of tough guys. They're
thinking to themselves, who's this rookie from Finland coming in
here and stepping all over our turf. He didn't care.
He was tough as nails and that's what he made
his whole career on.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
I like the gear you got on. Let me if
you're watching on Peacock mess has a Game seven. It's
a platform here sports and entertainment. So you're officially licensed
NBA apparel. Amazon is where you can get it right now, hoodies,
T shirts, all the teams Game seven. Then you're gonna
do football, You're gonna do basketball, You're gonna do WNBA.

(04:18):
I mean, you got it all going on here. So
how did this come about?

Speaker 8 (04:22):
Very exciting, Well, we got an opportunity to a couple
of fellows. Came into my partner's office and ask him
if you want to invest in their company. He goes,
what's your company? They go, we own all the IP
to Game seven. He called me up and go, do
you know anything about this? I go, I don't, But
if they have what they say they have, we should

(04:42):
buy the company.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
We did.

Speaker 8 (04:44):
We spent two years locking up all the IP and
trade marks around the world and came up with a
five part series on Amazon Prime about legendary game seven moments,
building a community, and now we're in the merch business,
partnering with all the leagues, and it's been an exciting
journey for all of us.

Speaker 7 (05:03):
It's been a lot of as you say, it's a
lot of.

Speaker 8 (05:04):
Hard work to get to the point where, you know,
we had the five part series come online. We're very
excited about that. But now to be partnering with all
the major leagues with our merchandise is really exciting.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah you got your next gear on?

Speaker 7 (05:17):
What you gotta have next gear on?

Speaker 9 (05:19):
Now?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yeah you do? Yeah you do. What's that atmosphere? Compare
the atmosphere of a Knicks playoff game and a Rangers
playoff game when you were playing it.

Speaker 8 (05:31):
I got to see it first ten close in ninety
four where we both went to the finals and we
ended up winning the Stanley Cup in nineteen ninety four.
The Knicks are right behind us into the finals, got beat.
It was the city was electric. We had a great
relationship with the Knicks. Back then, we were very close
with the players. We saw each other and around the city.

(05:56):
We supported each other. But when the Knicks and the
Rangers are relevan, but when they're in the playoffs, like
we're seeing right now, it's a different feel for the
entire league. Nobody doesn't like New York, the Nick history,
the great players that have come through there, Madison Square Garden,

(06:18):
it's there's nothing like it, and we can see that
happening again now.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Being up to nothing against Boston, Game three is gonna
be amazing.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Which NBA player would have been a good hockey enforcer?

Speaker 7 (06:30):
There's a few.

Speaker 8 (06:31):
I grew up watching basketball back in the in the
eighties when you know the bench, each team had the
bench in it, but they're tough guys on at the
end of the game to kind of loosen things up,
much like hockey parts is coming on there. But I
remember the Detroit Pistons, you know, I was fascinated with
the Celtics Lakers matchups back and they had some tough

(06:54):
guys that would come on at.

Speaker 7 (06:55):
The end of the game when the game was out
of hand, and boy, there.

Speaker 8 (06:58):
Was you You you didn't go into that basket, Une
contested trying to score late in the game. There were
so many guys that were tough in basketball that would
have been amazing. But you know, Bill Amber, if you
want us to try to, you know, start with one
that was notorious, the bad Boys in Detroit through their
championship runs.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
But those are those are tough guys.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Scoring is up in the NHL. I think this is
the fifth consecutive year and in the playoffs any reasons
or reason because of that, I.

Speaker 8 (07:32):
Think we did a great job coming out the work
stoppage back in two thousand and six. I believe I
think we recognize that our game, the best part of
a game is a skill and the speed which is
played at We were getting locked down, slowed down by
better coaching and the ability to hook and hold and

(07:55):
slow the the player's speed through the neutral zone. We
eliminated that. We took out the red line and opened
the game up. And as we've seen the last you know,
fifteen years or more, the game is so incredibly fast.
The skill level of the players probably never been higher.
Every night, we're just amazed at what the players can do.

(08:17):
The conditioning, the technology into the equipment. The goaltenders are
better than ever, But we're still finding ways to score.
It seems nowadays that no lead is safe. Like in
the you know, fifteen years ago, if you had a
two to nothing league going the third period, it's pretty
much a poor gun conclusion.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
You're going to win that game. But not anymore. The
rules that we implemented have really opened up the game.

Speaker 8 (08:40):
They've made it more exciting and it's just a great
it's just a great product now to watch the NHL
in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, we had PK subanh and he said that you know,
the lines, your your third and fourth lines are so
much more talented that there's no let up when you
change lines. You're bringing in guys who could have been
great in the jew yours as a score well.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
Oftentimes you see these guys that are playing and roll
role or or depth role players on teams that had
the ability to score forty to fifty goals in junior
hockey or even in the American Hockey League. They come
into the National Hockey League and they got to figure
out a way to help the team.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
They can't.

Speaker 8 (09:20):
Pass McDavid or Dreizidle on the Oilers, even though they
could on most teams.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
So what do they got to do. They got to
figure out a way to check. They got to figure
out a way to play tough.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
They got to figure out a way to be, you know,
an ad add on to the to the team. But
when they do get a chance, of course, they have
that that talent and that ability. Teams that go on
to win the Stanley Cup have players in position that
are overqualified in the depth positions, basically in the third
and fourth lines. They figure out how to play a

(09:47):
role a much different game than they're used to because
that's what the team requires. But when they get a chance,
they can score. And we've seen that in the playoffs
again this year.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Did you ever hit Gretzky?

Speaker 8 (10:00):
Well, it was one of the hardest things for me
as a person and as a player when he got
traded to LA in nineteen eighty eight.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
You know, we grew up brothers. We had won of
the Forrest Stanley Cups together.

Speaker 8 (10:14):
He got traded in to the Los Angeles and of
course who do we play the first round of the
playoffs that year was Wayne Gretzky in the LA Kings.
You have to put friendships aside. The problem with that
is that he was not easy to hit. He was
so elusive on the ice. He had the sixth sense
about him that no other players had that's ever played

(10:36):
the game.

Speaker 7 (10:37):
But I became the captain when he left.

Speaker 8 (10:40):
And the hardest thing to do was to understand that
if I had a chance to put him in the crosshairs,
I was going to finish him.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
But it wasn't easy.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
I've been asking guests here recently, you can start your
team with Ovechkin or Sidney Crosby, who would you pick.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
That's a great question.

Speaker 8 (11:00):
I've always been a massive Sidney Crosby fan from the
time he came into the league. The way he played,
the electrifying open ice player that he was, the work
ethic that he had on in the ice, on and
off the ice away, he represented the game.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
And a center ice position.

Speaker 8 (11:21):
When you build teams, you're build through the goaltender, the
four defenseman, and the two center iceman. They have a
player like Sidney Crosby to start an organization that plays
a center ice position, I think is critical because the
backbone of any championship team goes through the middle of
the ice. And then you look at Obechkin, with the
way he's been able to do in his career. But

(11:42):
I always start in the middle of the ice, the center,
the two center ice positions number one and number two,
the four defenseman, and the goaltender.

Speaker 7 (11:49):
That's where you build your team around.

Speaker 8 (11:51):
But look at if fill Benchkin fell in my lap,
I would not be disappointed.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
It might hurt if he fell in your lap as
big as he is.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
True, that's true.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Hey, good luck with business here, good luck with the
playoffs as well. It's great to visit with you again.

Speaker 7 (12:07):
Great being on with you, Dan and your track suits
on its way in the mail.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Oh okay, I like that. When's the last time you
check somebody?

Speaker 7 (12:15):
Oh, it's been it's been too long. Actually.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (12:19):
Even in a little bit of pickup hockey that I
play in maybe maybe maybe my son or my nephews,
I gave him a little bit.

Speaker 7 (12:26):
They're running to the boards playing some pickup hockey.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Wait, you get out there on the ice.

Speaker 8 (12:31):
I still love to skate as much as I can,
and before COVID we're skating a lot and playing some
little games here and there. But I got to get
back on the ice. It's a great game because it's
low impact and great conditioning. So love being on the
ice is one of the greatest games into retirement that
you can play.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Well you are, Marry Yonger is still playing, isn't he?

Speaker 7 (12:51):
Well?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
He?

Speaker 8 (12:52):
I think I think he is still playing. God bless
him for this career. That he's an amazing to keep.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
He's like fifty four or isn't he?

Speaker 7 (13:01):
It's well?

Speaker 8 (13:01):
You know, Gordi How played right into fifty two and
he was playing in the National Hockey League.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Yeah, Gordy How.

Speaker 8 (13:08):
I played against Guardy How when I was seventeen years
old in the WHA. Uh uh. I couldn't believe I
was lining up against Gerdy How. My mom and my
dad were there. Came to the game and visit. My
mom looked at my dad and go, what the hell
did you get him into?

Speaker 7 (13:25):
Gordy's gonna kill him.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Thank you, mass, Great to talk to you again.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
Great talking to you too.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Then that's Mark Messi. I the ESPN NHL Lead Studio
Analyst Hall of Famer, won six Stanley Cups and uh
Game seven. You can find it on Amazon. So you
got hoodies, T shirts, It's all on Amazon. They're gonna
have football, They're gonna have WNBA, they got everybody. So

(13:51):
that's a big deal. And you can see him on
the point pregame at seven thirty Eastern on ESPN in
the stud udio May thirteenth, also in between periods with
the Stars and the Jets. Yeah, it's weird, you know.
I just remember I think a Satkin in his number

(14:12):
was ten, and I just remember them saying, oh, he's
making his NHL debut in the Stanley Cup Final on
the road in Philadelphia. And I remember I was at
the game, and I was there to do interviews after
the game, and I brought my girlfriend who's now my wife,
and I said, you gotta go see Wayne Gretzky play.
She said, yeah, sure. I remember her brothers who are

(14:35):
big New Jersey Devil fans. They were so upset that
I took her because she didn't know anything about hockey.
I said, I'm not trying to date you guys, I'm
trying to date her. Well, take a break. We'll get
phone calls coming up. Eight seven seven three DP show

Joel's seventy sixth birthday? All right, all right, we pulled
the band aid off. What do you want to say, Todd?

Speaker 11 (16:18):
Besides the fact that I love Billy Joel.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
You can't sing.

Speaker 11 (16:22):
I can't sing.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
No, if you want to talk about Billy Joel, you
can talk about Billy Joel. You're not singing to that.

Speaker 12 (16:26):
Can I share my pole question idea which has way
too many suggestions to.

Speaker 11 (16:30):
Actually list them all?

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 11 (16:32):
Since it's Billy.

Speaker 12 (16:33):
Joel's birthday today, number seventy six, which song best typifies Bill.

Speaker 11 (16:36):
Belichick these days?

Speaker 12 (16:39):
And the choices would be an innocent man a matter
of trust, big shot. Don't ask me why I like
that one. I don't want to be alone. That was
on the Glasshouser's side too. I go to extremes. I
love you just the way you are, leave a tender
moment alone, my life only the good guy Young.

Speaker 11 (17:00):
She's always a woman.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Alrighty right, we had a few more.

Speaker 12 (17:03):
Oh she's got away sometimes a fantasy.

Speaker 11 (17:06):
Tell her about it. The night is still young. Uptown Girl,
we didn't start the fire, and you may be right.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Okay, alrighty, thank you, Tod, Billy Joel. There you go,
seventy six years of age.

Speaker 11 (17:17):
Oh bless them.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, we're going strong. Can't wait till next year. We
can do it again. I got some phone calls. I'll
get to we'll play the game. Best week in sports?
Who had the best week in sports? Not the best
weekend in sports? So people get confused. It's the best
week in sports. Also, NFL odds to make the playoffs?

(17:39):
Just got these from DraftKings. Who has better odds to
make the playoffs? Cowboys or the Panthers. It's the Cowboys,
but not by a large margin, plus two ten to
plus two fifty. Who has better odds the Cowboys or

(17:59):
the Bears. It's the Bears. Bears plus one sixty. How
about the Cowboys and the Jags? The Jags plus one
fifty five brownser plus eight hundred Giants plus six fifty
Raiders plus three seventy Titans plus three seventy Panthers plus

(18:20):
two to fifty. So just got those. Let's see who
had the best week in sports? Todd your recommendation, your
nominee is Jalen Brunson.

Speaker 12 (18:32):
And the New York Knickerbockers for sure, with two twenty
point comebacks in Boston.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Okay, Setan who had the best week in sports?

Speaker 3 (18:39):
You're gonna hate this, and I apologize, but there's a
player for Barcelona named Lemina Molly's seventeen. He even at seventeen,
is easily one of the best players in the world,
and Barcelona just got knocked out a Champions League. But
he was an absolute monster for them. That kid had
a great week.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Marvin best week in sports.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Tyrese Haliburn of the Indiana Pacers. Okay, game winner, they're
up two zero on the Calves.

Speaker 11 (19:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (19:03):
Oh, I would have to go with the Chicago White Sox.
They're ten and twenty eight. They're not in contention for anything.
But there was mixed reports whether the new pope was
a Cubs fan or a Sox fan yesterday, and after
some good reporting, they found out he grew up a
Socks fan, and so that's the best pub the Socks
have got in a while.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Okay, all right, I would say Tyrese Haliburton or I
would say the New York nick fans had a great
week in sports. Boy, But they're nervous now because you know,
you were probably saying, Okay, going into the series with Boston,
we're not supposed to win. Let's just be respectable. Let's

(19:40):
be a tough out for the Celtics, let's take them
to seven. Well, now you take the first two games,
and now you're thinking, oh my god, didn't think we'd
be in this position. We got a win on Saturday.
I'd like this was posed on the Mothership more of
a must win for the Knicks or the Celtics on Saturday,

(20:01):
And I thought, I'm going to say the Celtics. Really
feels like a must win for the Celtics because you
have to win four the next five, and if you
don't win on Saturday, then you have to sweep the
next four. It feels must Winny, it does. It's a
must winning the Pacers and the Cavaliers. It's a must

(20:22):
win for the Cavaliers. Same thing, Yes, Marvin, I'm.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Most interested in celebrity celebrity row at the garden to
see all the people that haven't been there all year, like,
oh look, he's a real big, big Knicks fan. Come on,
get out of here.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
By the way, shy and Irving on the Gambling Podcast
did bring this up because we were seeing if you know,
Shae would take the bet the Cowboys weren't going to
make the playoffs. I think the over under seven and
a half wins. Well, Shae came on the show and said, well,
I'll do it, but I I you know, you got
to help my odds here. Well, Paulie and Seaton weren't
willing to do that. Well, Shae talked about a bet proposal,

(21:01):
a new bet proposal on the Cowboys making or not
making the playoffs, and he was singling out you and
Seating yesterday on DP takes a gamble.

Speaker 13 (21:12):
So Danny on the phone call yesterday, you know, I
talked about the pickings trade, which I think is a gamble,
but I think it's a healthy gamble. YadA, YadA. And
then I was told to call back in because PAULI
wanted to make a bet. Yeah, so the Cowboys to
make the playoffs right now, all over the internet it's
plus one seventy ish. And he tried to get me
on even money, which was exploitative. The only way I'll

(21:33):
take even money on that bet is if he lets
me come and teach a class of his or has
me as a guest speaker, and I'll take even money
there and with Seaton, I'll do even money. If he's
not allowed to talk about soccer or politics until the
bet cashes, I'll do it.

Speaker 7 (21:50):
I'll do it.

Speaker 13 (21:50):
But they're cowards and they won't. They won't jump with it.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Okay, does anybody want a piece of Shay straight up?
On the Cowboys making the playoff? It's not making the playoffs.
Seaton can't talk politics or soccer until the bet is up.
And Paulie, you would have to have Shae go to
Sacred Heart University. He'd get to be a guest speaker,

(22:13):
or he would be able to teach the class.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
Right, I clearly have to run through campus security on
this one. I don't know if they had the autonomy
to walk him in. I'm not sure what he would teach,
what his field of expertise.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Well, you could have him as don't do this kids, right,
you know when you when you graduate from school, don't
be this.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Don't be like him.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
Would Seaton not being able to talk soccer? I think
that might hurt the show. If there's a soccer topic
we're going to need Seaton.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Well, It depends if you want to place a bet
there with Shane Nerving and how long do I have
don't talk? I don't know. Did he say that, well,
because we don't know how long it's going to be. Well,
it's the season, so that's not fair to you. Yes, yes,
I'll take it.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
Because the Cowboys aren't making the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Is moota?

Speaker 5 (22:58):
I would double down on I bet. I mean, that's
what he.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Tried to do the other day, and you wouldn't do that.
He wanted better odds and you wouldn't do that.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
He passed on the bet that was offered to him.
He did not believe in his team. I was too
caught up in the finances of the beat. I thought
he was a gambler. Instead, he's a math guy who's
trying to make good bet.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Okay, all right, so the bet is the Cowboys. You
say they don't make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs,
Shay gets to go to your school where you're a teacher,
and he gets to be a guest speaker. Yeah, yes, sid.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
What if I just throw this back towards Shay? Okay,
forget about talking soccer and politics. If one of my
most favorite thing in the world to do is take
shots at the Cowboys on here because I hate the Cowboys. Okay,
what if I have to speak positively about the Cowboys
for that same length of time that he wanted me
to not talk soccer.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Well, that would be I guess the entire season, isn't
it the whole next season? Yeah, like the following Is
that what we're talking about? Yes, because that's when as
soon as they get a limited from you know, playoff contention,
then you could you can, then you're allowed to. Well,
nothing's gonna change. You're gonna rip the Cowboys, and then

(24:10):
they don't make the playoffs and then you rip the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Right, But just for some reason, if they should make
the Cowboys, I'll speak positively about them. Yes, you have
to speak positive I'll become a Cowboys enthusiast on the
show cheerleader.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll do that.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Yes, I like Seaton, don't enjoy talking about the Cowboys
because I think they're non threatening. Here are the teams
that had more wins than them last year. The Eagles,
the Commanders, the Lions, the Vikings, the Packers, the Bucks,
the Falcons, the Rams, the Seahawks, and the Cardinals. That's
most of the NFC had more regular season victories. Okay,
They're really not that close.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
First stat of the day it brought to you by
Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show.
Lance in Oklahoma City, High Lance, what's on your mind?
Thanks for holding hey, Dan, five.

Speaker 14 (25:02):
Eight one sixty five. I know this is a topic
from yesterday, Van, but the whole birthday song topic. I
challenged anybody to be curse with a were song than
what I am cursed with?

Speaker 7 (25:17):
What is that?

Speaker 14 (25:19):
It is Barbara strikesand the way we were.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Okay, Well, Babs is a great singer. Yeah, we were
looking at the actual birthdate when you were born that day,
and then what was the number one song? Mine was
Elvis Presley Jailhouse Rock. But Babs, Abs, I don't know
I would be okay with the way we were. It's

(25:44):
a movie. What's that Robert Redford? Yeah? Yeah, so yeah,
I don't think that's terrible, Lance. But thanks for the
phone call. Uh. Jeremiah in Ohio, Hi, Jeremiah.

Speaker 15 (25:59):
Oh guys, thanks for taking my call. Long time, first
time pounds of Twisted Steel and.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Sex appeal, Okay, Jim Corey.

Speaker 15 (26:09):
Yesterday mentioned that Metallica played the show, but they didn't
just play entertainment. In Layden Stadium, Pantera was the opening
act and they take a back seat to no band.
They lit the fuse in that electricity hung in that stadium,
and when the first couple of cords of entertainment came on,
if there was a roof, it would have blew off.

Speaker 7 (26:28):
It was.

Speaker 16 (26:29):
That is saying two hours of rocking.

Speaker 15 (26:31):
If anybody's on the fence, go to this.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Joe, go, thank you, Jeremiah. I don't think I've witnessed Pantera,
but I am. I'm gonna stay in my lane. I
don't know anything about Pantera. Great, Yeah, of course they
are great. If there was a roof on that stadium,
they would have blown the roof off the stadium, as
Pantera does tear the roof off the mother sucker. Yeah yeah,

(26:54):
like Parliament. Yeah, but I don't I don't know anything
about Pantera and Tara.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Yes, Martin.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
Going back to your birthday song, you said jail House Rock, Heartbreak,
holl Tell.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Oh, Heartbreak Hotel, the same thing? Yeah, is it?

Speaker 11 (27:08):
It's the same song, I think.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
So, same gravitize, Yeah, you know, same kind of feel
with all this. So it's it's jailhouse rock, is that right?
Heartbreak holl tell oh, heartbreak hotel, same song. It doesn't matter, Okay,
David in Texas? Hi David, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (27:26):
Dan?

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Uh?

Speaker 17 (27:28):
Second time? Long time?

Speaker 13 (27:30):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (27:30):
Uh?

Speaker 17 (27:30):
Sixth food six two five. I got a little football talk.
But first, don't you think Mark Messier looked like an
action hero in that phone call you did with him?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
He's like a larger Jason Statham.

Speaker 18 (27:48):
There you go.

Speaker 9 (27:49):
Yeah, but my football talk, I'm sorry.

Speaker 17 (27:53):
It took three days to pick Shuder Sanders and only
two days to pick the Pope.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
All right, all right, I'll give you credit for that.
That's is that a bluep worthy?

Speaker 17 (28:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:09):
It was all right, clever, funny. Oh, so many people
sending me memes yesterday of the Pope and somebody sent
me the Pope da Pope having the famous Chicago dog
in one hand, you know, so everybody, uh, Nike Michael
Jordan Jumpman logo on the Pope's robe.

Speaker 5 (28:32):
Yeah, the Pope was the cover of the Sun Times
this morning, the paper the best joke I heard yesterday,
and I wish I could give credit who said it?
Chicago one pope zero four thousand yard passers in their history.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah, it's true, not good.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
Ye, they got a pope before they could get a four.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Thousand yard passer. Thanks, They're going to get both this year.
Caleb Williams throws for four thousand. Yeah, Spike Lee was
all excited that the pope went to Villanova, and you know,
the Knicks have some Villanova ties there and maybe some divine,
divine intervention there for them. Alex in Utah, Hi, Alex,

(29:11):
what's on your mind today.

Speaker 18 (29:15):
Morning, gentlemen? Or I guess they should say tusks up
as I guess we say in Utah. Now anyway, Hey,
Marvin killing the sweatshirt game the last couple of days,
the two for two just came out of the park.
On the topic of awesome sequels, I got to.

Speaker 19 (29:34):
Throw a Dark Knight into the ring. But the real
reason I called was I looked up the stats and
three pointers are actually up in the playoffs versus the
regular season. But for some reason, I'm still like thrilled
with the playoff basketball we're seeing. So I'm just I'm wondering,
is the three ball really the problem or is there's

(29:54):
something else Because the playoffs are shooting more threes, but
the games are still as exciting, I feel like as
they ever were. Or so, yeah, I just wanted to
hear your guys' take on that. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
I don't want to fall into the trap that everybody
does and I do occasionally and we talk about the
negative aspect of the NBA. I think there's some storylines
here that are really interesting. Ratings are up and that
should be the focus. Is watching the Celtics a tough watch? Yes,
when you're not hitting threes, yes it's a very very

(30:26):
tough watch. But let's say you're a passing offense in
the NFL and you keep passing but you're not completing,
you're getting sacked, Like, at what point do you go,
you know what, maybe we do something different. But in
the NBA that doesn't happen. It's not like the Celtics go,
you know what, we're not hitting our threes. How about

(30:47):
we go to the hoop. But if you were doing
this in the NFL, let's say they were stopping your
running game, you were getting nowhere? Would you continue to
do that? Would you maybe change it up a little bit?
That that's what I don't understand with the Celtics logic.
I know they do this really well as well as
anybody in the NBA. But this is two games where

(31:09):
it hasn't gone, you know, as scripted. They haven't shot
well at all. Minnesota hasn't shot well at all. But
at some point you do have to change it up
a little bit, yes, Martin, But.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
I think the Celtics did change it up because they
shot twenty less threes in Game two. I just don't
think they were just hitting them, even inside when they
went inside, there was like a lid on the basket. Yeah,
they still shot a ton Forty three point is a
tony that's twenty last.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
But once again, you're not hitting those shots. Now the
odds are and they're still favored I think to win
this series. That sound right, that the Celtics are still
favored to win. I think from Vegas.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
That's disrespect right there. Yes, it is that right there
is disrespect.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Yeah. Do I expect them to shoot better? Yeah? I
mean they're great road team and they you know, they
swept the series with the nixt Yes, I expect them
to be great. The question is can they be great?
You can't have off nights like you, you can have
one more off night and that's it. The Knicks can

(32:17):
have a couple of off nights and still advance, Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
According to DraftKings, as of this morning, the Celtics are
still the favorite to win the series.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Isn't that amazing? That is surprising?

Speaker 13 (32:28):
All right?

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Well, take a break last golf for phone calls. What
we learn once in store tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Back after this, be sure to catch the live edition
of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern
six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
But since I was a time namboo, I don't want
no kndent a dundon that does.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
We made it, made it to a Friday with a
little help. But meet Friday, A little smoke Turkey club
right off the tregger, Little Mayo on there, Tomato, good
to go, yep, good to go yep. Todd came out,
picked up a crab cake. Crab cake fell apart. He

(33:12):
went to the next crab cake that fell apart. I go, no, no,
go back to the one you just destroyed. Curious if
all of them.

Speaker 11 (33:18):
Were gonna do that.

Speaker 12 (33:18):
I thought it was gonna be firm enough like they
just clip it. But then Paul, you did it. He
just very smoothly put it right on. I have a
lot of work to do with the.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Little cups there by the way, do we have the
pick six? Are we ready to go with the pick six?
Download the DraftKings Pick six app now use code Patrick
and new customers. You play five dollars, get fifty dollars
in Pick six credits, better payouts, bigger wins only with
Pick six from DraftKings. The crown is yours. Dylan is
here and yeah, so Dylan will help us with us cooking.

Speaker 6 (33:47):
But now I'm doing it, okay, all.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Right, fresh off the grill and now into the fire, sir,
So how do we do this? We go around the room,
there's six of us. We pick one over under Yeah
what the player can only be used once? Okay in
the lineup? All right, yeah, Toddles, all right, todd you
go first.

Speaker 11 (34:06):
I'm gonna say, Donovan Mitchell goes under twenty nine and
a half points.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
You're going to say, I'm.

Speaker 11 (34:12):
Saying that Donovan Mitchell under twenty nine and a half seaton.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
I'm gonna say, uh, I'm going Joker over nine and
a half assists.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Okay, yep, nail did all right, Marvin.

Speaker 11 (34:26):
Tyreicse Halliburton over eighteen and a half.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Points, Dylan, I'm gonna go Jamal Murray over twenty and
a half.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
Then haul, this is.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
A Locke Chester Holme Grin over eight and a half
rebounds the love Chester.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Okay over eight and a half rebounds. Umm, I'm gonna
go Joker.

Speaker 6 (34:54):
I already did Joker. You gotta go with him doing.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
All Gordon's the money play down there?

Speaker 6 (34:58):
Oh, can't do the same player twice?

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Oh, so you're what you have?

Speaker 6 (35:03):
Aeron Jordan left? You've Jared Allen left.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
I'm gonna go Aaron Gordon over to one and a half?
Made three pointers?

Speaker 7 (35:16):
All right?

Speaker 13 (35:16):
Dan?

Speaker 18 (35:17):
I also I placed put all those in and we
can win twenty five times our wager with this current
lineup that we assembled.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Okay, how much do you want to wager?

Speaker 6 (35:26):
A million dollars?

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Okay? Or ten bucks?

Speaker 6 (35:29):
All right, let's if you put a million dollars up?
How much do we get twenty five that's a good payout.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
It's not bad, right, it's risk free.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Would we go to work the next day to brag
about it?

Speaker 16 (35:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:39):
And then then we'd.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Quit in the day after, just just the start of
our gambling career right there.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
Heck, you download the DraftKings Pick six app now use
code Patrick New customers. You play five dollars, you get
fifty and Pick six credits, better payouts, bigger wins only
with Pick six and Draft Kings. The crown is yours
this day in sports history, Paul just got a couple
for you.

Speaker 5 (36:02):
Please, Johnny Bench, I knew you'd like this one. Johnny
Bench nineteen seventy three hit three home runs in a game.
It was a second time in his career he achieved
the feat. Nineteen ninety three, the Phoenix Suns beat the
LA Lakers one twelve, one of four in overtime to
become the first NBA team to lose two playoff games
at home and then come back to win three straight.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
On this date, twenty ten, Dallas Braden of the A's
pitches a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Let
me see how about Bill and Florida?

Speaker 6 (36:35):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Bill, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (36:38):
How mar Fellas have you meet Friday? Okay, don't talk
about worst birthday songs. I guarantee you I'm going to
be in the Clubhouse in the lead. I was born
in nineteen fifty four. The song the number one song
that day was by Eddie Fisher. Elizabeth sail is one
of her husbands, and it was called oh My Papa,

(36:58):
one of the schmalsiest songs will ever hear.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
All Right, thank you, Bill Schmaltzy. Mike in Atlanta, Hi, Mike,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 9 (37:09):
Hey guys, good morning.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Six four five.

Speaker 9 (37:17):
Any time and long time. I want to touch a
subject Gluck Belichick story and your screener and I talked
about it. I don't want to get you guys in
any trouble, but has anybody broke the subject that Bill
could possibly be in the early stages of dementia or
some type.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Of a No, you can't even know. You can't go there,
can't even speculate.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
No.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
I think he's making decisions, and uh, you know, we're
looking for a reason why he's making these decisions. It
might be just found somebody that really likes him, listens
to him, thinks he's fascining interesting. Maybe that's enough, but

(38:05):
it doesn't present well for him if he ever wants
to get back in the NFL. It just doesn't a
lot of red flags there, and Pablo Torre, who has
a podcast, said that you know, he talked to eleven
different people. At North Carolina had two sources saying that
Bill Belichick's girlfriend is basically not allowed to be part

(38:26):
of the program there. But I don't think she's employed.
I don't know if she has a title, but you
know they can say, look, you're not employed, so you
can't be part of the football program. Let me see
Jamie and Pennsylvania. Hi, Jane, what's on your mind?

Speaker 20 (38:43):
Hey Dan, I just on record want to say I
think that Fritzie, Billie joel Man crush has crossed over
into the net baity deliverance and this is for Fritzy.

Speaker 11 (39:02):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Thank you, Jamie, thank you and the number of people
who don't normally talk to me but have talked to
me about celebrity family feud and they have a strategy
here and that Fritzie should be the last guy so
he has time to think, because you know, when Fritzy
gets put on the spot and he doesn't answer, he'll

(39:26):
blurt out something like eleven. And so I had two
people yesterday say, have Fritzi be the last person answering
the question that gives you time to be able to
come up with a response. I don't know if if
you feel strongly one way or another about that, but
then you.

Speaker 12 (39:43):
Would probably get the least response as far as contributions
to the show, because it's like batting ninth in the lineup,
like you'll get up, you'll have the last chance to
or get off the least amount of at bats.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
I guess is just go one for one time.

Speaker 13 (39:56):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah, yes, sir, Yeah.

Speaker 11 (39:58):
I defer to you whatever you want kind of yeh.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
I never thought in a million years that I would
be thinking about what's my lineup on Celebrity Family Feud.
But I've got to come up with our lineup by
next Friday.

Speaker 5 (40:10):
Yes, Paul, like a manager in baseball, when is your
lineup card?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
I don't know. I think when we get to the studio.
I had somebody say that I should dress just like
Steve Harvey. Whatever Steve Harvey is wearing, I should wear
the same thing, just like a king of Comedy. Yes, yes, yes,
which I'd have to find out what he's wearing and
then see if I could replicate that. Give me Dan,

(40:37):
give me Rich.

Speaker 11 (40:37):
Come on, now, let's play a feud.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Do you think you'll make Steve Harvey laugh?

Speaker 12 (40:44):
I'm not gonna try to because we all know if
I try to, it'll fall splat.

Speaker 11 (40:47):
I hope that I say something that he would find
him using. I would get a kick out of that
if he left at something I said.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Okay, but are you going to try or not try?

Speaker 11 (40:54):
I'm not gonna try.

Speaker 7 (40:55):
Okay.

Speaker 12 (40:55):
I think if there's something clever that pops in my head,
that might be plenty great.

Speaker 11 (40:58):
But I'm not going to eat something on an index card,
isn't it?

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Write something on an index card is interesting because I
was gonna say, do this Todd really believe that he
will not try to do something big there?

Speaker 7 (41:09):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Shoot that is yeah. I mean, yes, you will.

Speaker 7 (41:12):
You know that.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
But I'm there to win it. Okay, we gotta take
it seriously. Yes, don't be goofing around. That's what we learned.
