Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Final Hour on this Thursday, Ready to Go Thursday Night Football,
the season kicks off. It's Eagles Cowboys. It's presented by
YouTube TV Thursday seven Eastern non NBC and Peacock, which
is where you'll find this program right now. Thank you
for downloading the app, and we say good morning to
our radio affiliates around the country. It is time for

(00:24):
the fifth annual hot Cake Draft. Two from the NFC,
two from the AFC. These are wild predictions. My super
Bowl prediction tomorrow. For instance, last year, my NFC hot
take was this, I have the Falcons going to the

(00:47):
NFC title game. That's crazy, Thank you Tom. They will
face they will face the La Ramsa titles cald ag
Here's my AFC hot take last year. So mine in

(01:07):
the AFC. No, I have to have hot takes here,
Yes you do. The Jets will go to the Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers will win MVP. Whoa And I wasn't that
far off on that one. Very hot, very wrong.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
That Armado.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yes, I'm very hot and I'm very wrong. You're a
bad boy. Here's Paul's AFC hot take last year.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Russell Wilson will start a playoff game for the Steelers.
My second hot take is Will Levis of the Titans,
who win the Most Improved Player in the League award.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Okay, right, you got the Russell Wilson Junior. The third
here's Paul's NFC take. Last year, Kyler.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Murray the Cardinals will start a playoff game. All right,
this one, you're gonna give me a little wig room
with because this is going to extend into January February.
The Dallas Cowboys will start twenty twenty five the offseason
with no head coach and no quarterback under contract.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Eh right, Here's Todd's AFC hot take.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Perhaps it's wish we'll thinking on my part, but Bo Nicks,
who wears number ten, leads the Broncos to ten wins
as Denver participates in a road wild card game. Everyone's
got them over under like five and a half or
six and a half wins.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
He gets them to double digit wins as a rookie.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I think that's I'm gonna say that's warm.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
What's after a bad Week five loss at home to
the Cowboys, Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
Benches Russell Wilson for Justin fields.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
That specific game pretty good, Todd.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Seen and seven and the loss at the Bills in
the first round of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Pretty good, But it wasn't hot enough.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
Really, No, A lot of people correct, A lot of
people do at the Broncos. They'll win five six games
with this new quarterback if they're lucky.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
We didn't a lot of the so called experts that
they'd be well below old experts.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Here's Todd's NFC hot take.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
The New York Football Giants were six and eleven and
twenty twenty three. They finished third in the division and
thirteenth in the conference. Daniel Jones and the g Men
will regress further, finishing no better than four to twelve
and one as your tiebreaker last in the NFC East,
one of, if not the worst record in the conference
in the entire league, and they will desperately miss the
services of Saquon Barkley.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
Twelve and one New York Giants.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Once again, extremely right. The over under is it's probably
five and a half wins for them, So you have
them winning four?

Speaker 5 (03:31):
Uh, Marvin Well, I gotta do my story to a
second there, Oh.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
You got another one. I'm sorry that would be so
hot that I kind of counted as too.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
All right.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
He rushed for nine hundred and sixty two yards with
six t d's last season. He missed a couple of games,
but staying with the Saquon Barkley theme, I say he
will run for at least fifteen hundred yards and at
least ten touchdowns this season as a member of the Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Easton Okay, yeah, oh man, how about a victory?

Speaker 6 (03:56):
You don't what?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Put on the hot take already? Yeah? Do you even
just know this year from last year? Put on the
hot take necklace? There the champions Yeah, that's pretty good.
That was pretty good, Todd, pretty good?

Speaker 6 (04:09):
All right.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Here's Marvin's AFC hot take.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
Jeffrey Simmons of the Tennessee Titans will win Defensive Player.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
Of the Year.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Okay, okay, got my attention.

Speaker 7 (04:20):
And then the New York Jets will go to the
AFC Championship game.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Okay. Here's Marvin's NFC hot take.

Speaker 7 (04:29):
All right. Sam Donald will make the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Oh game over?

Speaker 7 (04:34):
Wow, and Raheem Moors will win NFL Coach of the Year.

Speaker 8 (04:41):
Day.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Those weren't crazy. Those were pretty good, Sam Donald, pro bowler.
I don't know where Raheem Morris finished in the Coach
of the Year. So now that brings us to twenty
twenty five. Hot take two from the NFC. For the AFC, Seaton,
I got to get to yours first. Seaton's NFC hot take, Marvin,

(05:05):
the Dallas Cowboys will win Super Bowl fifty nine.

Speaker 9 (05:08):
Okay, that's me and Paulie are head to head. That is,
he's got everybody getting fired. I have them winning, and
for bonus picks, I have them beating the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Okay, your MVP Joe Burrow, nos.

Speaker 9 (05:22):
Yeah, and then I have the Panthers will win the
NFC South hot and wrong, hot and wrong.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, but once again that that's good content. I feel
like I did that well, yeah, I have no problem
with wrong. As long as you're hot. AFC, do we
have that, Marvin?

Speaker 9 (05:40):
Okay, Joe Burrow will be your MVP and the Colts
will make the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Okay, right. That brings us to twenty twenty five.

Speaker 9 (05:53):
My hot takes for this year is shockingly similar.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Todd two from the n and then we'll come back around,
and then two from the AFC.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
My NFC first one after dropping their first four games,
of the season to the Commanders, Cowboys, Chiefs, and Chargers,
and not being particularly competitive in any of those games,
Giants head coach Brian Table decides to bench Russell Wilson.
Jackson Dart gets the nod for Week five at the Saints,
a game the Giants will also lose with a new
QB under center. That's one of them and the other
NFC after you received some blowback from hu Dat Nation

(06:26):
for showing no love to their team, the Saints get
the last laugh as New Orleans starts the season four
and two. They win at home against the Cardinals and Niners.
They lose at the Seahawks and at the Bills, then
they win home games against the Giants.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
And Patriots four and two to start the season.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
For the Saints, started warm, then got hotter. Uh seat
in NFC hot takes NFC. I'm going to continue my
tradition of picking on the NFC South. Apparently I have
no team in the NFC South finishes above five hundred.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Okay, ooh math, that's tough math there.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
That is tough math.

Speaker 9 (06:58):
I don't know how many times that happened in history,
but it's gonna happen this year. I also have. This
one's a little less. I'm not sure if this works
as a hot take or a prediction, but I have
the first touchdown of the season will be a tush
push by Jalen Hurts tonight ply the first touchdown of
the season. Does that count as a hot take?

Speaker 2 (07:18):
No, he's got the second best odds to score a
touchdown first touchdown.

Speaker 9 (07:23):
That other person is not hot take, but he since
he's second best.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Like if you said dak in a tush push, then
that might be a little more hot former take. Okay,
Marvin NFC hot take Jared.

Speaker 7 (07:40):
Golf will win the league MVP Award. And my second
one is the Washington Commanders will not make the playoffs
the season.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Eighth hardest schedule in the NFL With the Commanders NFC.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Marvin's were pretty warm. The Los Angeles Rams will beat
the Eagles in the playoffs this year. My other one
is Baker Mayfield will be the MVP runner up in
the National.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Football Okay, I see what you did.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Not scalding, but pretty hot, all right.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
My NFC hot take Matthew Golden will be the Rookie
of the Year Offensive Rookie of the Year. My other
hot take is the Commanders will miss the playoffs. That's fun.
They face eight playoff teams from a year ago and
they have the eighth artist schedule.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Oh, we're using logic and research.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yes, oh boy.

Speaker 8 (08:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
It didn't go well for me with the Jets last year,
so I thought i'd better do some home.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Historically, we don't prepare for that.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, because then you'll have some You picked the Jet, Yeah,
you're right, I did. Now it's time for the AFC
hot take.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Todd Trevor Lawrence will show significant improvement in twenty twenty five,
and with some assistance from their top pick Travis Hunter,
the Jags will win the AFC South.

Speaker 5 (09:03):
They will then lose in a tight wild card game.

Speaker 9 (09:06):
Okay, and my.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Other AFC was Although they show some competitive spirit early on,
the Cleveland Browns find themselves oh and eight heading into.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
Their bye week.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
The extra rest helps as they win their first game
this season, not until November ninth, Week ten at the Jets.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Seaton AFC hot take.

Speaker 9 (09:22):
To make up for my lackluster NFC performance, I'm gonna
give you three for the AFC, although one of them
have already given you guys, so I'm gonna come back
that I have a bonus one from June I have
The Chiefs will not make the playoffs this year. I
said that in June. I'm gonna stick with it. Let's
say my other I have two more for you. The
Patriots are going twelve and five this season, not thirteen

(09:46):
and four or eleven and six, are going twelve and five.
And Joe Flacco will lead the Browns to a playoff appearance.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
I think right now you could put on the hot
take necklace. Todd give it to a Seaton for this year.
I think now it's still in play, but.

Speaker 9 (10:04):
I'm not gonna put it around my neck until it's
a fish.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Okay, but I'll put it in my hands, Okay, all right,
Marvin AFC hot.

Speaker 7 (10:10):
Take kind of going off of what Seaton said about
the Patriots. The Patriots will win the AFC East this season.
They're going to go from worse worse to first. And
Kyle Hamilton, Kyle Hamilton of the Baltimore Ravens, will win
Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
And he just got paid, all right, Paul Afc.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
AFC hot takes.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
I have two.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
I'm taking a couple off. They were just used. Joe
Burrow will throw at least fifty touchdown passes this season.
A better my second one. Mike Tomlin will quote voluntarily
step down at the end of this football season.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Whoa, okay, pretty hot? Pretty hot?

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (10:53):
See thanks Aaron. Yeah, I was gonna say, just off
of Marvin's quickly, didn't we just do a segment where
we all pick defensive player of the year?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yeah, and yours is Kyle Hamilton.

Speaker 7 (11:05):
Yeah, but it was a hot take, though, Is this
what we really think?

Speaker 9 (11:11):
Didn't we do that like two days ago? Yeah, we
did a defensive player of the year second. Yeah, I'm
just trying to see what Marvin's.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Okay, let me continue with the AFC. Oh my apology,
all right, Joey Bosa will lead the NFL in sacks
for the Buffalo Bill. Wow, the Tennessee Titans will make
the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Z look at you coming out.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Yeah, I'm not joking around.

Speaker 9 (11:45):
You're just taking Paul's picks from last year?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Is that what it was? I don't know if he
had Joey Bosa leading the NFL in side all right,
any bonus hot takes that maybe some leftovers stow up
for grabs, Paulie.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Because I don't I think I'm in third place now.
My bonus hot take Commissioner Roger Goodell will announce his
retirement before the twenty twenty six draft. He'll announce his
retirement before the twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Draft because he wants to get ahead of me in
announcing his.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Reachur amongst the reasons.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yes, tough to walk away from seventy million dollars or
wherever he gets paid.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
I think he's going to be sixty seven despite his
great shape and jeckness.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
He's a any other hot takes there anyone? Yeah, he
can get it.

Speaker 9 (12:32):
I don't know if this is a hot take either,
but is it possible that this is a little morbid too.
It's going to be a rash of quarterback injuries this year,
and it's going to be because of the rule changes.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
What are the rule changes.

Speaker 9 (12:49):
There's certain rule changes that have been made that at
the quarterback as a ball carrier and getting him outside
of the pocket. The NFL is changed those rules. Oh okay,
and I think that's going to lead to a ton
of quarterback injuries. That a rash of quarterback injuries, and
that's then they're going to rechange those rules.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Back, especially if a star player gets hurt, then they
like to change it.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
Yes, Todd, I kind of had a morbid one as
well along scenes line, and I hate to even say it,
and I really hope it doesn't happen, but it's a
tour related thing in the middle of the season where
he has to strongly consider.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Not playing anymore.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Okay, that's morbid, sincerely, it's kind of a buzz I mean,
where you're having fun with this now all of a sudden,
I just made it very serious. Yeah you did, Paul,
Did you have an extra one?

Speaker 9 (13:36):
No?

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I think that's it. It's up to you to judge.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Though, Oh Seating, I'm gonna give Seaton the hot take chain.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
He started slow and really picked it up.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yes, I was going to say that Daniel Jones has
a Sam Darnald like season for the Colts Sam Donald,
all right, I should say Daniel Jones has a Sam
Darnald like What does that mean? Uh, it's a resurgence
like Sam Darnold in Minnesota. Daniel Jones has that for

(14:07):
the Indianapolis Colls. Maybe a pro bowler, Yes, Tod, Do
you have anything else you'd like to.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I don't want to bring it down any more than
I already disteds ago.

Speaker 9 (14:19):
Yeah, I'll take ESPN goes bankrupt due to backlash from
commercials red.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Zone, ESPN does a deep dive into the NFL. Alrighty uh,
we will bring those back when we we get to

(14:46):
the super Bowl, the super Bowl in San Francisco. All right,
when we come back, one of our favorite guests, Ross Tucker,
will join us, will have him provide Todd tell him
to have two NFC two AMC hot takes.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
One morbid one no, no, no more.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
But hey, that's on.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
You, that's on me. Yeah, I wish I didn't even
say that out loud. That was a terrible, terrible things.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Even predict that, even though we don't want to see
anything like that happened, even try to do that for
a hot take game is just uncalled for.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
But why did you do it?

Speaker 5 (15:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
It was classless, and I apologize for that, and I'm
praying as I'm talking to you, nothing horrible happened.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Why do you know these thoughts before you said it?

Speaker 5 (15:23):
I think the problem is for me.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
I don't edit myself very well, and I have these
thought bubbles, and I have this urge to just say
things that I pressed the microphone button and nif Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
But you walk around the man cave, you talk to
the back room guys all the time. I'm very sociable
and I'm I don't know, you say to them, Hey,
I was thinking about saying this is a hot take,
per I don't.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Respect their opinions to the opposite of where that you
probably shouldn't say that.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Whatever, Mario, I'm gonna say it anywhere. Okay, Let's that's good.
That's fair, fair answer there. Let's take a break. Ross
Tucker will join us. Coming up right after this.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Man, it got hot in here and I was going
to take off all my clothes, but Marvin said, no,
You've still got forty minutes here. That was our the
fifth annual NFL Hot Takes there. What was the hottest take, Seaton?
What was your NFC hont take or do we start

(16:59):
with a I had two that I liked.

Speaker 9 (17:02):
The no one in the NFC South will finish above
five hundred yeah, and my AFC was Joe Flacco will
lead the Browns to the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Okay, that's spicy, that's tasty. Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood One.
He's an analyst. He's the host of Ross Tunker Football Podcast.
He'll be in the booth tonight for the Cowboys and
the Eagles, and then on CBS TV Cardinals and the
Saints coming up this weekend. All right, you got a

(17:31):
hot take for me? NFC, I can give you one.

Speaker 6 (17:36):
I mean, I always get nervous about these because then
you're gonna put it on social media and then it's like,
oh my gosh. He thinks that I get ripped like
Seaton's going to for having Placo in the Browns going
to the playoffs. That's hilarious. You know what, I don't know.
I'll be curious to hear how hot you guys think

(17:57):
this is. But I think a six and eleven team
from a year ago in the NFC is gonna go
to the Super Bowl. Not paying attention, it's the San
Francisco forty nine ers who somehow not only have the
easiest schedule this year, they had the easiest strength of
schedule in the last ten years. And oh, by the way,

(18:22):
you know, they had a lot of underlying statistics that
weren't that bad last year in terms of yards per play,
all those things. And they did it without McCaffrey, without
Trent Williams. They were banged up on defense. I believe
in their core guys like Fred Warner and Used Check
and Kittle. I think the Niners bounce back in a

(18:42):
major way. Not the Eagles, not the Packers. I think
the San Francisco forty nine ers are going to the
Super Bowl again. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I have Christian McCaffrey as the offensive player of the year,
so I'm I'm with you on the Niners being sneaky
good this year. But yeah, you're hot. Takeing the AFC.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
I got two. I got two I like in the AFC.
I don't know how scorching you think either one is.
The first one is not quite Joe Flacco Brown's level,
But I'll take Danny Dimes, Daniel Jones and the Colts
to make the playoffs, maybe even win that division. In

(19:23):
the AFC. South saves Shane Steikin's job, saves Chris Ballard's job,
and people have to think a long hard about Daniel
jones tenure with the Giants after he leads the Colts
to the playoffs. The other one, though, I really like,
is that I think we all assume the AFC it's
gonna be the Ravens, the Bills, the Chiefs, maybe Burrow

(19:49):
and the Bengals. I think there's a pretty good chance
the AFC Championship game includes Sean Payton, bow Nicks and
the Denver Bru top five defense, top five offensive line.
The question is whether or not bone Knicks is good
enough to win multiple playoff games against MVP caliber guys

(20:14):
like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, you know whatever, Lamar, But I'm
gonna say that they can do it and that the
Broncos are the surprise team in the AFC Championship Game.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
All right, those are respectable, you know. And the forty
nine er take that they go to the super Bowl.
That's not crazy.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
No, those are like, those are my warm takes. You're like,
they're they're not scorching hot that I'm gonna get ripped
for them. But they're not like obvious either. They're warm
enough that they're passable for the segment.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Yeah, it's like you're taking cookies out of the oven
and you don't need an oven mitt for them. That's
sort of what your techs are and I do. I
almost picked the Colts with Danny Dimes that he would
he would have a resurgence and they would make the playoffs.
I decided to make it hotter and say that the
Titans were going to make the playoffs. Ye. And you
know who's getting a lot of love The Patriots. There's

(21:12):
a lot of people who believe Mike Rabel is going
to have a playoff team this year.

Speaker 6 (21:17):
I think they're getting a little too much love. Okay,
I mean I did a couple of their games last
year on TV. Did people watched the Patriots play football
last year. I mean, they were bad, bad, and I
would agree that Mayo was not a good coach, and
I'm sure Vrabel is significantly better. And it's wild to
see the Craft family spend the money that they spent.

(21:40):
I think they're sick and tired of losing and they
want to at least get back to respectability. By the way,
how crazy is it, Dan? I love stuff like this.
The highest paid player a New England Patriots franchise history
is Milton Williams. Okay, Milton Williams was not even really

(22:02):
a starter for the Eagles last year. He started a
bunch of games, but he's one of the three starting
d tackles that the Eagles rotated through in the Patriots
spending spree. They made him think about the guys that
have played for the like Tom Brady and all these guys,
and Milton went, that's a good trivia question up there
in New England for you guys.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, very good. Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood One. He'll
be doing tonight's game with Kevin Harlan and it'll sound
a little bit like this tonight.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
This is the NBA on TNT, But it'll be.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Football, thank you, tom and then on Sunday he'll have
the Cardinals in the Saints. I saw where Robert Kraft
commented on Belichick getting a statue and Tommy, of course
is going to get a statue. Would you combine the
statue with Brady and Belichick in New England?

Speaker 6 (22:54):
No, I wouldn't. And you know, I think Brady already
got one. I think it's already up. That's right, It's
gonna be soon, you know it. They better put the
Belichick one up soon. I mean, I can't remember very
many guys that have done more to diminish a reputation

(23:15):
over the last five years than Belichick. I mean, the
crazy thing is, if you think about it, Okay, I
can't remember what year it was, Dan, but like Derek
Carr had signed a deal for thirty million dollars a
year with the Raiders, and Brady said, listen, I'll make
less than guys. But this is Brady's making, like nineteen
So he just woned twenty five, right, like even less

(23:37):
than Derek Carr. Dan, they gave him five million dollars
in incentives, which was incredibly insulting. You'll never convince me
that that wasn't the exact moment that he said, I'm
out here. It was Belichick's idea. See, we would have
never known, okay, that Brady could do it without Belichick

(23:59):
unless bell Check moved on from him like he did.
So that was bad move number one. That led obviously
to the Patriots being in disaster the last couple of years. Then,
however you feel about his personal life, you can feel.
And then now with the North Carolina the other night
and not being able to get jobs from any of

(24:21):
these NFL teams two years in a row. It just
it's not a good look for a guy that was,
you know, in most people's opinion, the greatest coach of
all time. It feels like every year they're taking another
another swipe at that thing. They better put the statue
up soon.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Yeah, I forgot about Brady's statue where his head is
really small, but the rest of the statue is is large.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
There.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
I just I don't I mean, you were in New
England for a little while with Belichick. I just I
just don't think that personality translates transfers to the college kids,
and you've got to go in there, and you've got
to be in living rooms with them. Then you got
to have you know, another uh an extra slice of pie,
and you gotta be booster me like all the things

(25:07):
that Bill hates doing. You know, he wants to be
in the lab. Well, you can only be in the
lab so long. You got to be out there front
and center representing your program. And I didn't think they
were going to get embarrassed like they did. But I
don't think this is a oh my gosh, he's going
to show everybody he can coach no matter where.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
Well, a couple things. Number one, I had nine head
coaches in the NFL. Felchick's fantastic, I mean schematically unbelievably impressive.
The scheme he would come up with week to week.
Best coach I was ever around in terms of telling
you the legit three keys to the game and us

(25:46):
knowing if we did those three things we were to win.
And it happened almost all the time.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Yeah, but he didn't go into your friends, your family's
house and recruit you and try to charm your mom.
He just said, like, uh, what do we of? All right?
Ross talker, all right, Ross.

Speaker 6 (26:03):
Well that's the thing he can turn the charm on
when he has to. But to your point, he doesn't
want to, and it's it's not his natural disposition, right.
So I think in general, in life, you're usually set
up for success when you can just be your normal,

(26:24):
Like you guys know when I come on with you
or when I call it like this is you know,
when I have dinner with Paula, like, this is just
how I am, right, this is this is how I am.
Belichick is being forced to act in a way that's
not natural, that's not him. I'm a little surprised he
did it. I think, you know, they'll be better, I
guess over the course of the year. But that was

(26:46):
a big I mean, Michael Jordan and Lawrence Taylor up there,
maybe the best alumni duo I've ever seen. It's all
it's nationally televised ESPN, the Mothership. They're all there, and
that was I mean, that was about as embarrassing as
it can get.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Yeah, I don't know how much better it gets because
you bring in seventy players and he's the king of adjustments.
They didn't make adjustments in the second half. The adjustment
was oh my gosh, how badly are we going to lose?
Not we're going to lose. That was what was probably
the most surprising. And he's not going to coach in

(27:24):
the NFL again. There's no owner who's going to say,
you know what, let's bring in Bill. He can solve
all of this because now he's bringing in a whole
lot more than just a great resume. I just I
don't see that happening.

Speaker 6 (27:37):
Well, and think about it too, Dan, You know these
guys like these high school kids every year removed. Yeah,
they were seven and eight, you know, years old when
Brady was winning super Bowls with Belichick. The shine is
wearing off with every passing year. I think it's gould
probably get harder for him, not easier.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
All Right, your NFC pick? Are you staying with the
forty nine ers? That was a hot take selection, But
what is your real take? The reasonable take in the
NFC to go to the Super Bowl?

Speaker 6 (28:08):
You know, you know what, I think there's three teams
I can see doing it right now. I think it's
the Eagles, the Packers now that they have Micah Parsons,
which I still can't believe. The Cowboys made that trade
unbelievable on so many levels. I wouldn't be surprised if
the Packers went at all, but I'll go with the Niners.
I'll stick with it because of that schedule, because I
think this is probably the last run they have in

(28:30):
them with this group of guys this course, so I
and they find a way. It feels like Kyl Shanahan
has like bad year super Bowl, bad year super Bowl.
I think they're gonna get back to Super Bowl. So
I'll stick with the forty.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
Nine Ers takes. Okay, you'r AFC pick Yeah.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
I mean I think you guys know. I wish so
badly that I could give you fresh blood. I would
love a Bills Detroit Lion super Bowl for those for
those fans. But when people ask me like you, I'm
gonna give you, you know what I think is most likely.
I think it's the Chiefs. I don't think the Chiefs

(29:07):
will win as many games this year because I don't
think they'll continue to win every one score game ever,
that luck will run out. But I think they're going
to be better. I mean, I've heard from multiple people
this is the best Kelsey's looked in a couple of years.
They're going to have the whole second half of the year.
Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy Rashi Rice on the field. At
the same time, mahomes super motivated. They're definitely better at

(29:31):
left tackle with that rookie Josh Simmons out of Ohio State.
I think the Chiefs, you know, I know people are
getting Chiefs fatigue. I think the Chiefs go to the
Super Bowl again.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
I went on a rant to start the show, maybe
called a hot take, and we shouldn't have a divisional
game the Chiefs and Chargers out of the country.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
We just.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
I mean, they can play, but not the first week.
I just don't think that's it's fair to the teams,
the fan base. But you know, I know this is
going to continue to happen here. Your thoughts on having
a game out of the country of this magnitude, or
any game to start the year that we're going to
be in another country.

Speaker 6 (30:16):
I don't mind the first game of the year aspect
of it. What bothers me is if you're the Chargers
and you're trying to win the division to lose a
home game to Brazil. Now, in fairness, if you've ever
seen the Chargers host the Chiefs, half the fans are
Chiefs fans, right, like the Chargers are still trying to

(30:37):
find their way in La half the stadium is Chiefs
fans anyway, But it's still a home game. You don't
have to travel, you're in your own locker room and stadium.
You still have some fans there to give up a
division game. That's the part that bothers me. Is not
the Week one aspect of it. It's the losing a

(30:58):
home game, home game. You lose in my mind, should
be a team in the other conference. You know, in
one of the crossover.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Games before I let you go, I brought up we're
gonna get to eighteen games. The question is not if,
but when, but if you're part of the players association.
I suggested four roster spots, extra roster spots for each
team if for an eighteen game season, Ask that, do

(31:26):
you want to add to that? What would you want
to What would you want as a player if you're
going to eighteen games with getting an extra paycheck? But
what else?

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Yeah? So I love the roster spot idea, Dan, And
so the owners will push back on that because those
roster spots lead to all the benefits, right, Yeah, so
your health savings account, your severance, your pension, your annuity,
your four to one k. I mean, there's a lot

(31:58):
of benefits tied into that, and so they will fight that.
But I think that's I think that's a worthwhile fight.
I really do. There's only two things that matter, right,
trying to get a greater percentage of the pie. So
whatever it is forty eight and a half percent, try
to get that to forty nine or forty nine and
a half percent you want, you want eighteenth game, let's

(32:18):
do fifty to fifty. I don't know that that'll happen,
but I do like your roster spot idea. Because the
other thing is there's sixteen guys on practice squads. Now,
practice squad year does not count for your benefits. So
there's something there too where maybe if you have two
practice squad years it counts for your benefits as well,

(32:39):
because that makes a big difference. Man, I look at
you know, I look all the time at what my
four to one K is, my annuity, what my pension
will be, which I can take, by the way, as
early as fifty five. That makes a big difference. And
there's guys that hang on in those last few years.
I remember having a veteran long snapper when I was
a rookie he said, I would just play for the benefits.

(33:00):
But I don't even need my salary. I just want
to keep stacking all those benefits. So I think you're
on the right track, Dan, with the roster spot thing. Plus,
that is music to the ears of the vast majority
of the guys. They're going to vote on that CBA.
Those are a lot of those guys are bubble guys.
They want those extra roster spots to keep this thing going.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Have fun tonight. We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (33:23):

(34:03):
three DP show all.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Right, Todd, you already gave us your headline for the
Cowboys and the Eagles.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
How do you like? Dak Philly picks apart Prescott three Eagles?

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Okay, how many interceptions does he throw?

Speaker 5 (34:15):
Two?

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Okay, two interceptions? Seaton, you got a headline for tonight's game?

Speaker 9 (34:21):
Uh? Shush, push Eagles tell the Cowboys to zip it.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Yeah, no, that's not no, it's not good.

Speaker 9 (34:33):
It's it's no worse than anyone else.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Yeah it is. Well, let's see, Marvin, what's your head.

Speaker 7 (34:40):
On missing Parsons? Eagles offense dominates?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Like missing persons?

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Like that?

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Okay, that one's better? Not really, yes, not that much better,
Sat Paul, not really Parsons the interruption.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Cowboys take down the Eagle.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Okay, blue bloo around the scorn. Cowboys upset about.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I can't believe it. Cowboys win.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Uh okay, let's see I find the results of the
pole question. I forgot what the pole question was. Man,
this show got away from me. Yeah, sure did.

Speaker 5 (35:22):
Did this one?

Speaker 9 (35:23):
This one, for some reason kind of makes me upset.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'm not really sure why.

Speaker 9 (35:26):
But Steve Bomber is the victim, victim or villain. Allegedly
I put in there. Eighty nine percent have him allegedly
as the villain.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Well, you can't do allegedly.

Speaker 9 (35:44):
I did put in in parentheses, all allegedly for legal purposes.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Of course. Yeah, I don't want to get sued. Uh okay,
So this dang sports history, this day and board's history.
Nineteen ninety three, Jim Abbott, pitcher for the Yankees, pitched
a no hitter with one hand.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Now, it wasn't a choice. He was born with one hand.
He didn't wasn't trying to be a show off. And
I did a little research to see if there were
any other pitchers in MLB history with one hand. Hisory
Pete Gray pitched for Saint Louis nineteen forty five, and
Chad Bentz for the Expos and Marlins in four and five.

(36:26):
For the One Hand Club.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
On this date, nineteen ninety four, this guy scores the
first two point conversion in NFL history, running in a
fake extra point attempt in the Bengals lost to the Browns.
Tom Tupa, Tomahopa, former Jet greet and uh Ohio State.

(36:55):
I think Tom Tupa, let me see it's got two
in it for thank you, Tom, Tom Tupac about that.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
Make a T shirt number two.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
Puh, probably a little late for the T shirt.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Thank you time. Let me see anything else in here?

Speaker 11 (37:11):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (37:11):
In nineteen ninety one, Baseball the Statistical Accuracy Committee, who knew?
Or sack?

Speaker 7 (37:19):
Is?

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I like to call it back up? They remove the
asterisk from Roger Merris's nineteen sixty one home run record,
and they also determine an official no hitter must go
at least nine innings that happened on this day in
nineteen ninety one, The sack the Statistical Accuracy Committee. John N. Lancaster,

(37:42):
Hey John ADP.

Speaker 8 (37:45):
Shout out Seaton, my son and I got a chance
to meet you at the Maco meet up there on
your road trip in Lancaster a few months back. I
got a great three day run here. Tonight I will
be at the Eagles game cheering all my birds. Tomorrow
night I got a bourbon and cigar dinner to go too,
and Saturday night I am seeing Steven Wilson Junior the
Third in concert. So it's gonna be a good, good

(38:06):
three days here. Quick hot take for you, Jerry Jones
will go down as the best general manager in Eagles history.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Thank you, John Best GM in history for well, not
the backers. Packers have had some great champs. Let's see
Matt in Michigan. Hi, Matt, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 8 (38:30):
A DP? What's up?

Speaker 11 (38:32):
Guys?

Speaker 12 (38:33):
It was a pleasure to meet you at the draft.
That came all the way down from the up and
shook you boys hands. Pleasure of a lifetime. Also, what
an onslaught of hot takes by you boys today. I'll
tell you it's I'm hard to hard press to figure
out who deserves that hot take change considering I made it.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Oh, thank you, Matt. You know that's very nice of you.
We we appreciate the uh the hot take chain beautiful, gorgeous,
looks great on you, guys.

Speaker 12 (39:03):
Man, it was a pleasure. I got one hot take
for you, all right? In Fields and the New York
Jets don't sleep on.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Uh. You gotta be a little more specific than that.

Speaker 12 (39:17):
Matt, justin, justin Fields might might be an MVP candidate
after eight to ten weeks. I think he's going to
go blue tear in the right system and with his
offensive talent, and that defense is no joke either.

Speaker 6 (39:32):
DP.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
All right, well, thank you Matt. That that got a
little warm there as a little warm to the touch.
I love Justin Fields, I do. I just don't know
if he can be a consistent quarterback.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
Yes, Tom, did Matt call to give a hot take
or to remind us that he made the hot take chain?

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Probably both?

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Combo?

Speaker 2 (39:49):
Yeah, yeah, but you have ulterior motives picked? Yes, both.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
But don't you think if a guy like Fields got
drafted by the Eagles he'd be a very good NFL
quarterback right now with what they would surround him with.

Speaker 11 (40:04):
Maybe?

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Maybe, But he was in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
Did he get a full shot there because he got
didn't get injured right before the season and Russ snuck in?

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (40:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
I think he's got a ton of talent, but that
position is about consistency. Let's go around the room. What
we learn on the program? Todd, you learn anything done?

Speaker 5 (40:26):
And did Russ?

Speaker 4 (40:27):
Tucker sees the forty nine ers hosting Super Bowl sixty
in San Francisco is hot take?

Speaker 5 (40:30):
AFC opponent the Broncos actual pick the Chiefs?

Speaker 2 (40:33):
I ain't seat O'Connor. Huh? What did you learn today?

Speaker 9 (40:36):
Many many hot takes today, numerous Marvin.

Speaker 7 (40:40):
You guys love TV dinners way more than me.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Yeah, but they were kind of a staple back then.
You missed the window, like your mom was cooking for you.
It was just you. My mom had six kids. She's like,
I don't know here TV dinner, Paul, would you learn.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
The hot take game? Just like life, it's more important
to be hot and right.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Have a great day, everybody, enjoy the football. We look
forward to chatting with you about it tomorrow.
