Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Final Hour on this Wednesday. We got football tomorrow night
on NBC and pick Peacock. It's the Chargers and the Lions.
It's the Hall of Fame game. And speaking of the Chargers,
Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert set to join us on
the program tomorrow. They won't be together, they'll be separate,
but current Charger quarterback and the past Charger quarterback eight
(00:31):
seven seven three DP show. We'll get to more phone calls.
Final hour of the program. Stat of Today is always
brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards
of The Dan Patrick Show. Matthew Stafford has delivered what
the Rams envision when Sean McVay and the Rams went
all in they wanted to win a Super Bowl title.
He's thirty seven, and now you're dealing with another season
(00:53):
where he is banged up, speculation, soreness, and you're not
quite sure what's next for the Rams at this position.
They signed Baker Mayfield in twenty twenty two, they drafted
Stetson Bennett in twenty twenty three. They now are rolling
the dice on Jimmy Garoppolo. As a backup, and none
(01:16):
of these are franchise quarterbacks. But you got two first
round picks in twenty twenty six, and it's opposed to
being a quarterback rich draft. And Matthew Stafford might be
in the last year, but you wonder Sean McVeigh getting
another younger quarterback and maybe staying in that job a
(01:36):
little while longer, because I thought Sean might go and
do TV, and there's always that chance that he could
do TV. But you got Davante Adams. I mean, you
do Puka Nakua. You've got some good defensive players, got
a good running back, and it feels like the season
hinges on Matthew Stafford at age thirty seven. But do
(02:00):
you know that this is kind of the last year
for Matthew Stafford to prepare accordingly With those two first
round draft picks, the question is where are those draft
picks going to be? Because if you kind of play well,
then maybe you're in the twenties. If you don't play well,
you're definitely going to be in the market for a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yes, Paulie, it does seem though if you're a Rams fan,
the division is winnable. You got the Seahawks with always
a quality team. They won ten games, But is Sam
Donald for real?
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, but they don't have Tyl Lockett, they don't have
dk Metcalan, right, you know, you know it's yeah, they
have Sam Donald.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
The Cardinals are a coin flip whether they're going to
be above or below five on.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
I think they're going to be good this year. I do.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
And then the Niners six and eleven last year with
all those injuries.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, I could see that flipped. Yeah, but you've got
to have Christian McCaffrey there. You know, your receiving corps
has got to step up. You know, Ricky Piersall, you
got Brandon Ayuk, you know, so you still got some
marquee players on defense. They should be the class of
(03:10):
that division. But if Matthew Stafford's healthy, then you know,
I like the Rams chances again to win that division.
But yeah, you start to look at, you know, guys,
that one guy on each team, Like that guy if
he doesn't play or he plays well, what it means.
And look, they they went toe to toe with the
(03:31):
Eagles last year to go to the NFC title game.
But if you start to look at that team, that's
a thirty seven year old quarterback who's got a lot
of mileage there and is going to battle trying to
stay healthy ish this year. And then you got two
first round picks coming up next year. Now, they were
(03:51):
the team that I thought, if you're looking at arch Manning,
that maybe working with Sean McVay poop knakuah. You know
you're playing in Los Angeles. You know, we don't know
much about arch Manning other than the you know, the
family lineage here of quarterbacks. But you know, as far
as playing for a great team or you know, organization,
(04:15):
you know, the Rams are a great organization. And to
have Sean McVay as you're you're kind of mister Miyagi
your sense, that could go a long way. But I don't.
Once again, I don't think arch Manning is coming out
uh this this one year. And that's why I didn't
think where the Cleveland Browns and Nick Saban and Arch Manning. Okay,
(04:36):
for all of that to work, you have to end
up with a number one pick in the draft. I
don't think they're the worst team in the NFL. I
think the Giants are based on their schedule, and we
went through that schedule. You know, they get the Saints,
and I don't think they have a real easy another
easy opponent for the first nine games of the season
(04:57):
in games that they're the winner. I don't know how
many games the Giants would be favored in this year.
I don't know if we can find that out. I'm
gonna guess they're not going to be favored in any
game this year to start the season is the Saints
game in New Orleans because they got they have the Eagles,
(05:20):
and then they have an opponent, and then they have
the Eagles again, they got the Chiefs Cowboys. I mean,
it's a pretty tough right out of the gate. Commanders
are in there as well. Yes, ton, I see the
Giants at the Saints. Yeah, I don't know if the
Giants are going to be favored. They might not be
(05:40):
favored the first at least nine games of the season,
so they could be the worst team. But they drafted
Jackson Dart their first round draft pick.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah, Pauline, Yeah, you can get some early future lines
on games, and I found one where the Saints are
favored in that game.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah. Yeah, I don't know if the Giants will be
favored in a game this year. Marvin.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
So if the Giants have the number one pick, new Manning,
I'm already starting.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Sorry, guys, uh, if Arch is available, but once again,
how much time? When does Arch have to announce? Let
let's just say let's go crystal ball here. Let's say
Texas plays great. Let's say they're in the National title picture.
Arch plays great, maybe a Heisman finalist invited to New York.
(06:31):
When does he have to declare? When? So the NFL
regular season is over, we're going to know what the
draft order would be of worst teams in football. He's
got plenty of time, you would think, to be able
to get information on if he's going to go pro
or not. Let's say the Saints. Saints I don't think
(06:51):
are going to be well. Saints got a really good
offensive line and maybe in that vision you maybe, I.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Know, chop it up the Saints O line.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, you can do some film. Well they have they're
all first round picks, I think except for one of
the guys. Oh, we got music attached to this.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
You're going to see South Merril Hodge and Jaws with you.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah, breaking this down. But they they've used first round
picks on offensive lineman. The other guy might be a
second or third round pick. But yeah, if I'm march Manning,
do I want to play for my hometown team, what
I want to play for the Giants? What I want
to play for the Browns? Or would I want to
go back to the University of Texas. I'm gonna guess
(07:38):
he's going to stay two years there. That's why it
just sounded preposterous that Nick Saban is is going to
come back based on getting arch Manning. They have to
get arch Manning first, and then you say to Saban,
do you want to commit and coach? Because I don't
think Saban's going to go all right, I'm gonna take
this job and hopefully we'll get arch Manning.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Yes, Mark, Yeah, because Nick Saban's known as the quarterback. Yeah,
exactly with Jake Kocher and Blake Simms.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Whoa look at you? Look at you all? Right? Time
to play the Travis Hunter game. I don't know what
the Travis Hunter game is.
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Is this the percentage of offensive plays and defensive play?
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Kind of spoiled it there.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Oh, okay, so.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
The Travis Hunter game is this. He was basically fifty
one percent offense, forty nine percent defense. At Colorado approximately
his ratio plays?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
It was, yeah, like, why had him?
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Like he played a lot of both, but he.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Played over eighty percent offense in over eighty percent defense.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Right, he played just a touch more offense than he
played defense at Colorado.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Oh touch, But he did play almost all of the plays, so.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
He played like eighty eight percent of offense.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
What is Travis Hunter's ratio of plays offense to defense.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I'm going eighty percent defense twenty percent offense.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
Satan, is this by the end of the season? Correct,
by the end of the year and.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
The regular season. We'll check back on this, right.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
I'm gonna say it's uh ninety ten.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Hey, Marvin, I'm gonna go sixty five percent defense, thirty
five percent offense.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Okay, Todd, I'm gonna go sixty seven.
Speaker 7 (09:33):
Percent defense, thirty three percent offense.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
Paul, I will go sixty three percent defense doing the math,
thirty seven percent offense.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
Here's the thing I wanted to bring up. If they
limit his offense and the offense was ranked for the
Jaguars twenty seventh in the league last year, and they
spot him on the offense and they struggle that's not
gonna go over well with him and the fans. Fans
aren't concerned about player safety.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well, what were they defensively?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Twenty seventh? They stink at bold.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Way they were twenty seventh in both.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah, so they're consistent.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Okay, but you can't say we're going to rob Peter
to pay Paul.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
But if he played ninety percent of the defensive snaps
and sixty percent of the offense, people are going to
complain when he's not on the field if they struggle.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Okay, but when they give up touchdowns and he's not
on defense, then they're going to get upset at that
as well.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
I think he's playing ninety percent of the defensive.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Snack, yes, Seaton.
Speaker 6 (10:30):
Yeah, I think just from what I've read that Travis
Hunter seems to be a better defensive player than he
is offensive player.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Yes, And I think.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
If you play him too much on offense, he's going
to be bad on defense. So I think they're eventually
going to be forced to choose a lane and stick it,
stick with it, and I think it's probably going to
be defense.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Stay in your lane, yes, Ton, Well, you also have
a quarterback.
Speaker 7 (10:53):
With lovely blonde hair. But not a lovely game.
Speaker 8 (10:55):
And he's been getting a lot of criticism, and we're
not sure what Trevor Lawrence is or what he's going
to be, so all the more reason to try to
at some point get Travis in the offensive mix a
little more.
Speaker 7 (11:04):
Than he normally would. If there was a quarterback that
we had a better.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Stronger feeling, why were we factoring in his hair?
Speaker 8 (11:11):
I was just playing off of lovely, lovely blonde hair,
but not a lovely game of football.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
The last bald guys, they always go after the guy
with the hair.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
But if there's all these question marks about your quarterback
and he's not living up the expectations, now this guy
comes in who can play both, I think you've got
to sprinkle in a little more offense than you would
if he was already established by.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Now, well, you're bringing in a guy who was the
offensive coordinator with the Buccaneers and did a wonderful job
with Baker Mayfield. Now he's your head coach in Jacksonville,
and maybe he leans a little bit more to Travis
Hunter offensively. Just because of that, that's quite possible. Thank
you to back to your studio, Thank you, do we
(11:55):
have a new poll question for the final hour of
the program.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Yeah, we got up there. One from Marvin Marventino. Uh,
team who's off season will be more interesting than their
regular season? Brown's Cowboys, Steelers, Other Brown's Cowboys, Steelers, others. Yeah,
their off season is more interesting than their regular seasons.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Okay, yeah, Marv.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
This happened last year. We talked to Cowboys during the
off season and during the regular season. We may have
maybe talked about the Cowboys in the first segment on
Monday Morning Show. I don't know, two maybe three weeks
out of the seventeen.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Games when they were seven to ten.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
That's what I'm saying that injuries they sorry.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, damn, remember they could have Derrick Henry wanted to
play for the Cowboys. He wanted to play for the Cowboys.
And that's where I kept going. You you know, sometimes
you can't afford a player, but may may be a
better business decision with some of the contracts and signing
(13:03):
them early frees up more money and they could have
had Derrick Henry. And imagine if Derrick Henry was with
the Cowboys. DA's healthy. You got ce d Lamb and
Michael Parsons will eventually be in camp. All right, Now
you got people's attention there, But it wasn't that much
(13:26):
of a difference of they what Derrick Henry wanted or
what he signed for with Baltimore. Maybe in what Dallas
would have been able to offer him if they had
a few extra dollars freedom.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
Yes, Marv, see how much more interesting it is talking
about the season and hypotheticals.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, I think it's a great question because the Steelers
with t J. Watt, you trade away Minka Fitzpatrick, you
got obviously with Aaron Rodgers, dk metcalf coming. I mean
that that was a lot for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh usual doesn't
make headlines in the off season like that. Uh, the
(14:06):
Cowboys are always there. So I'm kind of numb to that.
It feels like it this stuff gets done. It's just
it's messy when it gets done. It's like a recipe
and you go, yeah, I don't really go buy the
book and I just kind of throw it together and
then it somehow turns out. Okay, So Cowboys, Steelers, Browns.
(14:34):
The Browns is you know, like Miles Garrett, Okay, Sanders. Yeah,
but I don't even know what that means. They've They've
gotten a lot of attention only because it's should or sand.
I don't know what how it impacts their season. So
are they going to be more interesting in the off season?
And guess is what the question is? Yes? Probably so, Uh, Cowboys,
(15:00):
are they more interesting? I don't find them interesting in
the off season, Like it's repetitive, you just kind of
change names the Steelers. I would go with the Steelers.
It might be hard to live up to all of
the headlines that they made. Yes, todd as.
Speaker 8 (15:19):
Exciting and interesting the storylines are with the Steelers. Don't
you feel like if they're just going to be nine
and eight again or maybe ten and seven, that they're
not going to be thirteen fourteen win team.
Speaker 7 (15:28):
They're not gonna be.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
No, that's why I said that they're more interesting in
the off season.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
I guess I'm just agreeing with you and giving my
opinion on why. I was just kind of elaborating on
that they're gonna just be that same team. Maybe they'll
get one more win. I don't see them being significantly better.
So just you're you just gotta jumping on your own
you're reiterating yeah in my own words.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
So what I iterated paraphrase. All right, thank you, Yes, yes, Paul.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
I'll throw on a team that if the Miami Dolphins
don't make the playoffs or improve, I think there're gonna
be a hot topic in the off season and the
restructuring there.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah, but that's that's next season.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, I thought Marvis talking about what's upcoming.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
No, this offseason to this season, right, that's what this.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Was, Yes, this off season. Yeah, we've talked about these
three teams a lot. I don't want to put the
Bengals in here because I think the Bengals are going
to be incredibly interesting. That's why I didn't put them
in there.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Yeah. Yeah, the Dolphins good. If they don't make the playoffs,
it's gonna be a mess. Well, they're going to clean up,
you know, your head coach, your GM, your quarterback Tyreek
Hill as well. I mean it may be see you.
But yeah, as far as off season to regular season, yeah,
(16:40):
Steelers had a lot of headlines, and I think because
it's rare that they have this many headlines, that's why
they stood out. You know, the Brown situation, Yeah, with
Shador but that was it. Miles Garrett. He was going
to get paid or he was going to get traded,
nothing else really attached to that, and then the Cowboys.
(17:01):
It just feels like this is the way it goes
every offseason. Yes, yes, tom this.
Speaker 8 (17:05):
Was to go sideways with the Steelers. Who's going to
take more flak? I'm sure they'll share it. But Aaron Rodgers,
Mike Tomlin, what happens at the end of a year
that just goes poorly? No playoffs? They're seven and ten
or something like that. What are they gonna say about
these guys?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Well, I think Mike Tomlin's that seat is hot nationally. Uh,
it's really hot locally because it's like, hey, great we
were over five hundred, Hey we got into the playoffs.
Hey we didn't win another playoff game. They're loyal to
their coaches, but at some point they don't make the
(17:40):
playoffs this year, dot don Even if they make the playoffs,
don't win a playoff game, dot don. Like, it just
feels like there's a lot you know, Rogers, maybe is
last year if they don't make the playoffs. Mike Tomlin,
does he get out? You know? Maybe his voice is
stale in that locker room. But locally, I don't think
(18:02):
you can go through another season and not win a
playoff game. We'll take a break. We'll come back after
this Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 9 (18:18):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 9 (18:24):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.
Speaker 10 (18:27):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, you blubber, list lame and me.
Speaker 9 (18:41):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 10 (18:46):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 9 (19:00):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich make
sure you check out over Promise and also uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
A little harder.
Speaker 9 (19:07):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast of all time.
Speaker 10 (19:10):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or
wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
I was a little surprised to see this DraftKings just
sent me NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds and
the favorite is Aiden Hutchinson coming off the injury. Bennet's
Michah Parsons, Miles Garrett, TJ. Watt, and Trey Hendrickson. Now,
if Micah Parsons isn't paid this year, he would be
my pick for the defensive player of the Year. Aiden
(19:45):
Hutchinson the season cut short with an injury, Miles Garrett
got paid, TJ. Watt got paid. If Trey Hendrickson doesn't
get paid, his odds would be a little bit better.
That motivation for defensive Player of the Year. I was
flipping through the channels last night, and all of a sudden,
I stumbled upon Fight Club and they got me and
(20:10):
I'd seen it before a few times. But Tyler Durden,
Brad Pitt's character, that's a great one. That's an old timer.
And then you throw in, you know, meat Loaf does
a cameo in there. Helena Bottom Carter is spectacular in
that Ed Norton, Ed Norton's great. The way it's shot,
(20:32):
it's dark, it's gray, and there's a scene early where
Ed Norton and Helena Bottom Carter are divvying up all
of these self help groups that they're going to go to,
and you know, like a cancer group, and just they're
running down the list of all these different self help
(20:54):
groups they go to each night. And they don't need
the help in these self help groups, but they're splitting
up all these places that they're going to. And there's
a lot. There's a lot going on in Fight Club.
But if you look back on the commentary, the social
commentary of what they're saying, then a lot of that
(21:16):
played out and they're taking a shot at gen X,
you know, all the you know, corporations taking over the world. Yes, Marvin, is.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
That the film film? Is that the film where people
started taking Brad Pitt seriously as a great actor instead
of just made like a heart throb.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
He came off as a heart throb in that too.
I'm gonna guess he did. Certain certain group of people
probably would look at that and go wow. Yes, I
don't know if there was a movie where all of
a sudden you go, oh, he can act like this
happens to Sandler all the time when he does this,
(21:57):
you know, like, what was it hidden gem? You should
have uncut gems. He should have been nominated for an
Academy Award. And look, I'm biased. That was a great,
great performance, But it feels like I don't know if
Brad Pitt had a moment where you go, okay, guyconnect Yeah, Pauline.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Fight Club came out in nineteen ninety nine. Leading up
to that, Brad Pitt was in seven very well reviewed. Yeah,
that's a big one for him. In nineteen ninety five
he was in Twelve Monkeys, which was cool, Sleepers, the
Devil's Own, seven Years in Tibet, Meet Joe Black, and
then fight Club. It's nice run.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Fight Club was great. Yeah, fight Club was wait a minute,
what are they doing? And the fact that whenever, wherever
Brad Pitt would go in the movie and then he'll
see somebody like at the diner, and then they'll just
give the look and then the look because you know
the first rule of Fight Club and it was boy,
(22:58):
that's one of those you just have to say, settle
in and watch it start to finish. And I don't
know if it's kind of like inception, like there's certain
movies where it only works that first time, it doesn't work,
but it did work for me the next time around.
But then the Bourne identity always works for me no
matter where it is in the movie. I'm watching it,
(23:19):
except for the one where Jeremy Renner was in it.
And Jeremy Renner is a fine actor, but he's not
Matt Damon, He's not Jason Bourne. Are we playing a
movie game off Fight Club?
Speaker 3 (23:32):
We played this game before?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Dan?
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Are you ready? You brought up fight Club?
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Yes? Here we go?
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Is fight Club good? Great? All Timer? Eh or stinks?
Those are your options.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I'd say it's a great movie. Great movie. I don't
know if it's I don't know what all timer means.
I don't think it's something that you watch over and over.
I mean, you can like the fight scenes, but I
don't know if it's one of those where I go, Hey,
like Bull Durham comes on, I'm watching it. I'm just
(24:10):
an animal. House comes on, I'm watching it. Born Identity,
I'm watching it. Yeah, it might.
Speaker 6 (24:16):
I might be a little bit of like a cult
movie follower this. I think it's an all time great,
but I understand if people don't think that. But for me,
it really like captures a moment in time, you know,
and like you were saying too, it has this quality
as a movie that you could almost feel it, like
if you've reached out and touched the screens, you would
(24:37):
feel the like grit behind it.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
I think it's an all time great. Pretty disturbing to
watch modern day, but I think it's all.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Time Anybody want to put it on the all time list?
There Aside from Seaton Paul.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
I lean towards all timer because it's really original, unique,
It's not like anything else before or after. The creativity
level is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
The social commentary is what's so sneaky in all of
it that you're like, visually it's arresting, but the social
commentary is there, The undercurrent is there. Yes, Marvin, I have.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
It is great. Alzheimer's for me is like shawshing. But
I still think Fight Club is great.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Yeah, it kind of depends on your definition of all
time greats. Okay, how many movies do you say that's
an all time great movie? Dumb and Dumber Yeah, and
Dumb and Dumber two, Dum Dummer er, although I will
say when Dumb and Dummer is on.
Speaker 11 (25:41):
Of course you do every single time. Yeah, it's it's
great because it's an all time great. It's it's a
great movie. But Jeff Daniels makes it a great movie.
Jim Carrey didn't surprise me. Jeff Daniels comedic chops that
surprised me. And you bring in my former girlfriend Lauren
Hut and Presto Chain show you got box office magic. Yes, point,
(26:04):
I think we stumbled upon it. Seaton and I were saying,
if you could rewatch it anytime and you enjoy rewatching
it years later, that makes it all timer, even if
it's a goofy comedy or a serious Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:15):
But I don't want to watch Citizen Kane again, exactly so.
But it's considered the greatest movie of all time, overrated,
Gone with the Wind. I don't need to watch Gone
with the Wind anymore? Yes, is this our Hall of
very good? Like we're stumbling on a new category. It's
not all time great, it's anytime great. Anytime it's on,
(26:37):
you watch it. It's an anytime great movie, not all
time great. Dumb and dumbers in anytime great, every born
movie anytime great. Uh, Stripes isn't anytime great? Oh heck yeah,
Stripes comes on. I'm watching that Kingpin. Kingpin when that
comes on, I'm watching that. I watched Diehard the other day.
(27:00):
Good for you, die Hard anytime on? In fact, all
of the die Hard movies when they come on, I'm watching,
but the original I'm watching Todd. Do you have a suggestion.
Speaker 8 (27:12):
I'm more of Good Fellas, the Shining Sounds of the Lambs.
Can't get enough of wild Things for certain segments. Does
like I'll end up getting stuck on that Tuck.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
What if you miss the gotta admit time that is
a weird combination that you just threw out wild Things
for certain reasons. And then Willy Wonka.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
I like all kinds of different genres. There's certain movies
that come on. It's like, I'll stick with.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
That Wizard of Oz. I will watch no matter if
it comes on Christmas Story, It's a wonderful life. Those
are I'm watching no matter what.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
It's a wonderful life for me is all time. It's
weird because I'll put it for me, it's like a
you know, Goodfella's Animal House.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
It's a wonderful life.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
Dumb and Dumber plus.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
But Ralphie and Christmas Story, I'm watching that. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Paul Gladiator, Noah All very watchable. Yeah, Saving Private Ryan.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
No, No, it's tough to watch war movie. Yeah, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
For me, I got Ace Ventura and Coming to America.
No matter what part of the movies those are in,
I'm watching. The first Aventure is so good.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
It is great. Courtney Cox looking great in there.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Jim Carrey was like ninety six Jordan in nineteen ninety four.
Oh you do Ace Ventura, the Mask and Dumb and
Dumber in the same year.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Dang, And you go out with Lauren Holly.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Oh, you're Michael Jordan plus Steph Curry plus Lebron James
if that's the case.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Oh, and I joke about Lauren Holly being a girlfriend.
But I went to see the Cubs and she was
dating Mark Grace I guess I should put dating in
parentheses with dating Mark Grace. There are probably a few
people dating Mark Grace at the time, but I remember
she sat out and left Camela Anderson situation. I can't
(29:16):
tell if they're.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
Promoting the game or if they're actually dating.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Yeah, yeah, there was something going on there. But I
just remember I was in left field and she had
had a couple of drinks. And next thing I know,
she's calling my answering machine at SportsCenter and leaving me
a message while I'm sitting next to her, you know,
saying it's the greatest day of her life. And that's
(29:41):
when Mark Grace I made fun of his lack of speed.
He stole second base out of nowhere, and then he
was kind of getting the dirt off his pants, and
then he was pulling down his pants a little bit
right towards me in left field. But Lauren Holly, he
was she was a rock star. And I remember being
(30:04):
at Mark Grace's Statute of Limitations as well gone here.
I was at Mark Grace in the Cubs first basement,
his condo, which was about five blocks six blocks away
from Wrigleyfield, and I remember we were going to go
to dinner downtown and the the album Moby's album What Play. Yeah,
(30:31):
you can hear it upstairs, it's loud. And then Grace
Mark Grace goes, hey, go tell Lauren that we're going
to go to dinner. So I walk up and Lauren
Holly is doing yoga to Moby's song, and she has
this see through onesie on doing yoga, and I, of
(30:52):
course don't want to interrupt her doing yoga, so I
had to stand there for a little while to watch
your do yoga. Yeah, I didn't want to press stop
whilst he was pressing play, and you know, so we
then went went to dinner. Mark Grace, Yeah, I reached
out to Gracie. Yesterday he lost his teammate Ryan Sandberg
(31:13):
and he was he was pretty beat up yesterday. Sad
day for him. Let you see any other Let me
sneak in. Danny and Florida.
Speaker 12 (31:22):
Hi Danny, Hello Dan, thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Sure, Danny, longtime.
Speaker 12 (31:29):
Listener, first time caller. Okay, six feet one seventy five.
So I was listening to your conversation about the Beatles,
and I wanted to extend that conversation a bit. You
had mentioned that they were great, and their influence was
(31:50):
extensive even into other musical genres. Well, I thought about that,
and a great example of that is that it's recently,
as just a few months ago Ozzie Osborne praise the
influence of Paul McCartney on his music in a alodic sense.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Okay, well, thank you, Danny. Now you don't have to
convince me that the Beatles were influential.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Yeah, I think Ozzie has said many times that the
Beatles were huge.
Speaker 8 (32:25):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, I think I may have
changed my mind about the Beatles based on this as Wow.
Speaker 6 (32:35):
Why you know what, Todd, thank you so great.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
See this is where I pick on you.
Speaker 7 (32:40):
I just got moved by that story about.
Speaker 8 (32:43):
I'm like, maybe I'm missing so now I'm realizing I'm
coming to my senses musical.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
This is why I b rate you when you do this,
because you're making fun of the situation exactly Danny called in.
He was nice, he was sincere was Ozsie just passed.
Speaker 7 (32:59):
There's means pair it on all very various levels. There
was no need for that.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
Yes, Marton, sorry, completely unrelated to Todd. Yes, two more
all timers, Okay for me, Okay, Philadelphia Forrest Gump, and
you can't watch Philadelphia over and over. I can watch
Philadelphia Denzel Washington and Tom.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Hanks, Antonio Bendatas.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
It's not bloking, it's not blogging. It's so good. That's
like Kobe and Lebron on the same team, ben Zella,
Tom Hanks.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
But you can't watch that over and over.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
I can't. I skipped the end to watch.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
A Forrest Gump. You can, Lieutenant Dian Yes.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
One of the great villains. Jenny, she was the.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Worst, worst I know, Jenny. She toyed with his emotion.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
She really did string long for a decade.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Es. Sick of that, sick.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
This is your this is your baby force. Oh you
found I was a millionaire. Oh now, all of a sudden,
I have a baby bite.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
Yes, Todd, that actual party is something I would have
a tough time turning away from if I jumped in
on Tom Hanks and twenty Katain in the middle of
that movie.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
We're gonna take a break. Class call for phone calls
right after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows

Search FSR to listen live Justin Herbert and Philip Rivers
on the program tomorrow. Todd, will you say what you
(34:26):
really feel about Philip Rivers when you pick up the
phone when he calls?
Speaker 8 (34:30):
I rather not, but you've been known to put me
on the spot and do impersonations to say, do you
know we have someone on the show here that thinks you're.
Speaker 7 (34:36):
A big whiner during your career? Todd, you want to
say something to Philip? I wouldn't put it past you
to do that.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Then what would you say to Philip Rivers?
Speaker 8 (34:42):
Totally downplayed and be a phony and say you I'm
a big Bronco fan and it just looked like you
were complaining a little more than the usual average quarterback
complains on officials calls, and I would leave it at that.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Okay, well then I'll leave it at that as well.
I won't say anything like that. You have my yeah, okay, yeah,
have my word. Wyatt in Florida, Good morning, Wyatt, what's
on your mind today?
Speaker 13 (35:04):
Good morning Dan, Good morning guys. Second time caller, longtime
listener five ten one. I just had a comment about
the all time All Time movies. But first I wanted
to say how great of a job I thought you got.
You did with Happy Gilmore too, just a pure class
act and a natural Thank you, wiy But as far
(35:27):
as movies I got to, my fiance wanted to throw
one in there if you don't mind. My two would
be Hook and water World, and those movies are on
I'm always watching. And my fiance wanted to mention Twilight.
Give us a shot, shout out to the Twilight saga.
That's all I got.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Appreciate it, guys, Wyatt, do not invite me over for
a movie night. Please don't invite me over. Uh? Jack
and Hartford? Hi Jack, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 13 (35:55):
Hey guys, thanks for having me.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Uh.
Speaker 13 (36:01):
I wanted to go over the greatest movies, and I
wanted to add Jaws.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
That's a fifty year anniversary this year, I believe, yep.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
That's an all time great.
Speaker 13 (36:11):
I also wanted to put The Departed on that list,
as well as the Rocky movies.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
I can't I hate The Departed. Jack Nicholson's accent was terrible.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
What can I use your fah?
Speaker 2 (36:25):
He would have his accent in one scene and then
he wouldn't have it in another, even the end where
everybody's getting shot at the very end. I actually laughed
out loud because I kept thinking, Okay, are they done
shooting each other? And then all of a sudden, there's
one more victim at the very end. The Depoted is
(36:48):
not good at all. Great cast, Nah, the good movie. Yeah,
paulng it.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Feels great, but it also feels like it has hokey
moments that like prevent it from being great.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
You know, Nicholson's one of the great actors of old time.
I just didn't think it was great. This Whitey Bulger,
Matt Damon's in there, Mark Wahlberg, DiCaprio. DiCaprio is always good.
Johns is a great movie. But it's not one of those.
(37:20):
If it's on I'm watching it like I'm not. I'm
not interested in revisiting it, not not, not not going
to do it. Eight seven seven three DP show email
address Dpadanpatrick dot com Twitter handle the DP Show Dylan
in Orlando, Hi Dylan, what's on your mind today? Hey? Dan?
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Think you're taking my call? How are you guys doing?
Thats congratulations in the role at having Gilmore too. I
wanted to think the subjects from movies, the sports I
want to get your guys' opinion on my prediction for
the twenty thirty five MLB standing in the ten now.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
So twenty thirty five prediction from Dylan in Orlando.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
Yes, my prediction is that the two expansion cities will
be Nashville and Charlotte. That the Angels are going to
relocate the Salt Lake City. I think it's a huge
fan base for them already with their Triple the Tipple
A affiliate, they can really get a good fan base there.
I think the Athletics will officially move into Las Vegas.
(38:24):
I think you need to split up the division from
three team to five to four teams of four, and
the Colorado Rockies will relocate to the American League to
make the Sandy's even.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
I'll check back with you in ten years, Dylan keep
dive man, thank you for the phone call. But I
don't understand why you would move a team to a
city where you have your Triple A team there, because
then you take away your Triple A team. Now, granted,
you're gonna have more people coming to watch a major
league team, but do you want to move to Salt
(38:57):
Lake because you have a Triple A team there? But
the other ones. Nashville feels like Nashville is getting a
baseball team at some point. I would love to. I
wish Montreal still had a baseball team. Yeah, a lot
of politics that went into that. But you know, these
teams in South Florida, do they really care about the
(39:18):
Rays and the Marlins? Is there? That's a point it
feels like, you know, we're gonna we're playing the long
game here and eventually you're gonna come around and you're
gonna build a stadium and love these teams. I just
don't know if it's there and if you can get
another you know, Portland's been a site that they brought
up before, So I don't know if there's expansion as
(39:42):
much as maybe relocation. You know, the A's obviously going
to Vegas, but Colorado leaving, I haven't heard anything of that.
But yeah, we'll miss the uh mile high altitude there, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
But then teams in Florida seem like a good idea.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Yes, but they're a great idea during spring training. I
don't know if it's you know.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
When it's eight thousand people at a game, it's great.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Yeah, March. I just don't know if that's I love
spring training. But you know, as far as hey, let's
go see the Marlins play, Yes, Martin.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
And also, you're in Florida, you're in Tampa. You're watching
the Red Sox and the Yankees play. And that's true,
not the Raised.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Or if they come to town to play the rais
of the Marlins. Yes, Todd.
Speaker 8 (40:33):
Do we think the average Florida sports fan is far
more interested in their hockey teams and their baseball teams
just because of performance?
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Well, they play for championship.
Speaker 7 (40:41):
All about the Panthers, enlightening. I could care less.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
About it this day in sports history Paul.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Nineteen thirty, Dan Uruguay won soccer's first World Cup. They
beat Argentina four two. In nineteen sixty six, England soccer
team won the World Cup.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Let's go around the room see if we learned anything
on the program, Todd, I'll start with you. What did
you learn on today's award nominated program?
Speaker 8 (41:02):
The lead story today by far is Liam Neeson and
Pam Anderson reportedly dating.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Well, I saw it from my own eyes that it
certainly seemed like they were into each other. And I
love love Setan. What did you learn today.
Speaker 6 (41:16):
We've invented the anytime great movie category.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Yeah. Yeah, no matter when it's on, you watch the movie.
Marvin People Magazine is your Bible? Yeah yes, us Weekly
used to be. Uh, Paulie, what did you learn today?
Speaker 3 (41:30):
I'm looking forward to Taken four.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
With Pam Anderson. Somebody. Maybe Tommy Lee is the villain
and he takes Pam Anderson and Liam Neeson gets her back.
