Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show. The US
Open live on NBC in Peacock. The world's best golfers
(00:26):
taking on one of the toughest golf courses I've ever played,
Oakland Country Club, the US Open. It'll start coming up
this Thursday, USA Network, NBC and Peacock. And this is
a golf course that they don't apologize for being difficult.
It'll probably and if you're familiar with a stemp meter
how fast the greens are, they'll probably run at thirteen
(00:49):
or fourteen and lightning quick. There's going to be places
where you can not put the ball. If you do,
you're just asking for a double bogie. But the rough
is going to be really thick. It's a challenge. It'll
be over par will be the winning score here. Scottie
Scheffler is still you know, it's can you hit the
(01:11):
ball straight? It's not can you bomb it, can you
hit it straight? Keep it out of the rough because
if you put it in the rough, then you have
to hack it out. You can't go for the green,
and then you just try to avoid. You know, your
winning score is probably going to come from somebody who
didn't have a double boge. But if you have those,
now everybody else is probably going to have those. But
(01:33):
trying to avoid double bogie. But it's a spectacular golf
course and I had just gotten there, I think when
they were clearing out trees, because if you see it,
there's pretty much no trees on most of the holes.
But it'll be a great challenge. It's beautiful, a lot
of fun, a lot of fun to watch. It wasn't
(01:55):
fun to play, Yeah, paul I found.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
A couple different articles Golf Channel, another saying it might
be the toughest course in America and definitely the toughest
for PJA players. We seem to have this every few
years though. We tune into the US Open and when
everyone's over par and we have the discussion is this
good TV?
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Is this good for the golf fans?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
And we always we usually say no, we don't we
I think I'm saying that for the crowd, we don't
like to see people struggle to that level. Minus two's fine,
minus fours four unders fine, but plus three to win it.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, but this is the US Open. They want to challenge,
they want it to be different. Most of your courses
are set up for birdies because we like to see that. Augusta,
a couple of years ago, there weren't birdies on the
back nine and people complained, do you want to hear
the roars? I get all of that, but there are
times when that's why we love the British Open. It's different.
There's nothing else like it. You get to see those courses.
(02:50):
They don't play those kind of courses, you know, on
a semi regular basis, and that's why we're fascinated with
the way it looks and it's you know, it's not Americanized.
It's that's pretty much the way they've been playing it
for centuries there. But yeah, with the US Open, Hey,
whether they want it or not, they're not getting it.
(03:12):
It's going to be the ultimate challenge and that's what
we want apparently with our US Open.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yeah, seton, Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
I tend to agree with Paul's statement there that I
don't really like watching golf, and the guys on TV
look like me on a weekend.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Yeah, like hitting it from the.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
Trees, over the into the trees again, then back into
the trees, then over the green. Then you got to
come back up here and like whatever. I like to
see them look really good.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I I would say, I understand that, but we get
to see them look really good just about every other week.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
This is where it's like, oh'll be damned because you
can drop the ball in that rough and you could
walk away and go get your club, and you could
come back and go, where's my ball. It'll be that thick.
It's going to be that challenging, but one or two
events a year, I'm okay with it. Panthers are up
two games to one, and they take Game three six
(04:09):
to one. I had just been talking about I love
the playoffs because there's no fighting, and then there's fighting
last night and there were twenty one Edmonton penalties and
the Panthers took advantage of that. No basketball tonight, It'll
be tomorrow with the Pacers in a mustish win situation
(04:32):
where I have the Commissioner of the NBA Adam Silver
on the program tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Yes, Tom saw losers or cool when fighting breaks out
when a team is losing by several goals and they
know it's out of reach and now they're just looking
to start fights and beat up bump people.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
What do you think.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
I think it's more sore loser, Okay, but I can
see the entertainment value because a lot of people miss
all the fights that they used to be in hockey.
Hockey's fights are way down, all right, Irelanders used to
do that in the eighties. We're about to lose.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Of course it was the Islanders in the eighties.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yes, when you watch back to that fight last night,
it looks like violent ballroom dancing. Everyone's circling around. They're
kind of hitting each other, but some people aren't. They're
just kind of spinning around each other. Some guys aren't fighting.
Some guys are really wailing on each other. And I
love the etiquette of the refs, Like, if they're not
on the ice, we're not going in.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, if they're not down on the ice, prone on
the ice, we're not doing anything. You guys dance, guys,
You guys circle each other and then all of a sudden.
Once you go down, then you just kind of the
referees jump on top of them, but you know they
have It's a sport that police is itself, and whatever
happened last night, I'm sure that Florida will police their
(05:44):
end of this and Edmonton as well. With the next
game coming up. Poll question for the final hour of
the program is going to be what see don't counter?
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Let me update you here. I've been kicking around another
pole question based off of Ray Allen.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Was with us at the end of last hour talking
about the NBA playoffs.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Okay, athlete you would least want to fight? Is the
poll question up there right now? Hockey player football player.
Hockey's got eighty five percent of that vote. Do you
think that's recency bias or is that the real thing?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I think that's part of the culture of growing up
and playing hockey, whereas it's not with football. Football is
a violent sport, but in the context of playing football
hockey it's it's violent, a lot of collisions and then
occasionally you drop the gloves. So I would say that
(06:38):
hockey players sort of raised on this have to be
ready for this, whereas if a fight breaks out with
a football player. Nobody's getting hurt there, but in the
course of a hockey game, you know that there could
be a fight.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
What else do you have seen? You know?
Speaker 5 (06:57):
I think part of it too is that, you know,
the Internet is loaded with videos of gigantic dudes and
then they get knocked out in one punched by a
guy much smaller than him, and then it turns out
like the smaller guy, Oh, he's an MMA guy or something.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
But it's just a gigantic looking.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Dude, which for some reason, those videos are tremendously entertaining.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
What was your Ray Allen poll question?
Speaker 5 (07:21):
If you needed to hit one shot, my life's on
the line. I don't know if it has to be
that extreme, but no, I want my life. If you
want your life to be on the line, Yeah, right,
of course. Naturally I'm going big shot Bob because he's
the greatest shooter of all time. Okay, no one has
averaged seven points in their career and gotten more love.
(07:45):
I think it's the greatest seven point average of a
career of all time.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
Robert Orry.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, well, you know on the big stage he
hits the big shot. Heck yeah, okay, wide open three.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
No, he's on you. Your life's on the line. Catch
and shoot, that's it. Yeah, you're going.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Ray Allen Clay another great catch and shoot guy mm hmm,
Reggie Miller, Reginald Aloysious, Steph Curry, Yeah, Ray Allen, Larry Birds,
he's too many, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah, yeah, yes, Marvin Steph Yeah yeah, Pull.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I'm gonna go Bird, no doubt. But you know before
he shoots it, Bird is gonna talk smack.
Speaker 7 (08:30):
You know.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
If I miss this, You're gone, You're dead.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Yeah, I don't know if I want him talking trash
to me because the last thing you hear, like, there's
a guillotine above my head and I'm going Larry making
sure you make it.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Oh that's right, because you're dying. Yes, I'm living or
dying ateah right. Yeah, it's just like Squid Games with basketball. Yeah, okay,
let's pitch that to Netflix. Yes, basketball, squid game, Yes,
Larry Explode and like whatever, right, Okay, so we do
a guillotine scene with Larry Bird.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Okay, we got to come up with some other ones.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
So maybe it's like Larry Bird and they're like, wow,
I wonder what like the thing is it's gonna kill
us here it's a beautiful day. And then like the
birds start coming and everyone gets packed by all these birds.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Like you could really make it into all art things.
Maybe you take a charge from shock.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
Yes, someone comes behind you and suffocates you with a net.
Keep a basketball theme going.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Mhmm what a basketball? Wait? A basketball net? It's got
holes in it? You mean strangled, strangled, suffocating.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
I don't know, you can't, you can't be.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
You could strangled, beaten to death by a bunch of
feathers or something. Because it's birds. I don't know, sall
cold come, I don't know. I'm just sall.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I think it could be fun. Brendan and lost angels. Hi, Brendan,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 8 (10:03):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Dan?
Speaker 9 (10:03):
So, today is the last day of thirty one years
serving the East Los Angeles community of Oyle Heights as
a public school educator, a community of hard working first
and second generation immigrant families. Don't believe all the hype
you hear, but I want to thank you you've been.
I think one reason your show works for all of
(10:24):
us is because it's like a classroom. You're our patient
teacher who's not afraid to roast us. Every classroom I've
taught has Todd and some days he's on and some
days it's like really. And then you've got Paul who's
like a pardon me, sir, that was not the homework
you assigned. And there's the cool kid like Marvin and
(10:45):
you're like, thank you, Marvin. And there's sort of the
nerd like Seaton who's got some obscure information he has
to share no matter what, and you're, yeah, but you've been,
you know, getting work every day. You've you've made it
a joy, and you're always there. You're never afraid to
roast us when we need it. One quick early gift
(11:08):
for college football season. I know you talk about the
heismand trophy and the months. I would please please use
the term Hei's member moving.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Forward, He's member. Okay, we'll work on that.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
How about a round of applause for Brendan who spent
thirty one years Yeah, yeah, yeah, Bob in Kansas, Hi Bob,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (11:34):
Hey Daniel? Yes, bom Bick's foot one seventy five. I
spleek one thirty five. Actually, Dan, I wasn't calling to
be on the show. I was calling waiting to get
some information on I figured you guys had an attorney
or something on retainer. I'm I'm in Kansas, beautiful morning.
I got my windows down, I'm driving, checking on the livestock,
(11:56):
and all of a sudden is God fors sake and
the racket comes on and the cows are out. Now
the barbed wire fence is down for about a quarter
of a mile. I got donkeys loose, and I didn't know.
Somebody's got to be responsible surely for all that. Uh.
I just didn't know who to get a hold of.
This is going to be And then there's also the
duress and and the trauma from I'll never be able
(12:19):
to listen to Steve Perry, did Chritzy?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Would you like to apologize to Bob?
Speaker 6 (12:23):
I sincerely apologize Bob if I ruined Steve Perry or
that song or anything related to Journey. If I messed
that up for you because of that rendition, I do apology.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
That's Bob in Kansas. Fritzy gave us a Terry Bradshaw
tribute song. It was set to the tune of Steve
Perry from Journey four and it was Terry. Yes, you know,
we'll post it, maybe we'll put it in the newsletter.
But well, you know, remember when rap CDs came out
(12:55):
and they would have the language there and they as
parental parental tidance advisory there.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
Yeah, people start unsubscribing to the newsletter.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
You're gonna come after me about that, Alex in Utah, Hi, Alex,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (13:11):
Good morning, gentlemen.
Speaker 10 (13:13):
Frizzy, don't let them get you down. I keep singing, man,
you gotta, you gotta, You got a song in your
heart and we all need to hear it. I agree,
if you start singing, we wouldn't get things like Quizzical.
That's a good TV anyway. Hey, guys, just calling to
kind of weigh in on the Michael and uh Lebron debate.
(13:34):
This is this is what you guys are the best
in my opinion.
Speaker 7 (13:37):
It's not hot takes.
Speaker 10 (13:39):
It's measured uh, it's measured responses, and you guys are
fired to both sides of the argument. I like, I
am so sick and tired of like the the You
know there's I won't say names, but you know there's
there's guys out there that are very heeded about the debate,
and I just think it's ridiculous. I mean, let's just
celebrate both players. Both players have done incredible things, and
(14:00):
like let's just let's just celebrate the game anyway.
Speaker 7 (14:03):
You guys are the best.
Speaker 10 (14:04):
Thanks for um the Lass and Fritzy keep doing your thing, man.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Thank you, thank you. Alex.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah, we kind of stumbled on this Lebron thing, and
it was only because you know, social media said that
he has no tricks, he has nothing in the bag,
and I said, he scored forty thousand points. That's even
more impressive. He didn't have a go to shot or
move and he scored forty thousand points. He was never
(14:30):
a shooter, he's always a scorer. He's just once again,
he's never going to be better than Michael Jordan. In
most people's eyes who saw Michael Jordan play, It's not
going to happen. And they're just different players. Lebron was
more magic than he was Michael, you know, And to
(14:51):
watch him in a high school basketball game where he
is six' eight six' nine and most of his teammates
were maybe aby six feet most of them, were smaller
and he was unbelievable at passing that he really enjoyed
finding the. Open man so that kind of how, he
(15:12):
played and then he worked on that shot because he
doesn't have a. Good shot it's not. Good form his
son is a better shot than. He does but he's
still a, great score the greatest scorer of all time
without a. Signature move, pretty incredible, Pretty.
Speaker 11 (15:31):
Yes mark that's what made him such a hot commodity
because when we saw him on to Cover A, sports
illustrator it was like a high school junior could be a.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Lottery pick you're just.
Speaker 11 (15:40):
Like why and then we see the GAME of espn
where he goes full, speed tards has had one way
and does it behind, the back put. Bounce past, you're,
like oh, NEVER mind i.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Get it and Once Again sports illustrator came up with The.
Chosen one they came up with the headline that was
the title of. The, ARTICLE now i don't know if
a junior in high has veto power, to, say hey
don't put the chosen, one there but he lived up to.
The Hype bryce harper lived up to the hype when
(16:07):
he was on the Cover Of sports illustrated at what
fifteen or sixteen years. Of Age tom berducci did that, Cover,
story yes ton veto power?
Speaker 6 (16:16):
Or not i'm glad you clarified that he, Never, said
hey call me the chosen One because i'm. The.
Speaker 11 (16:20):
Best, Yeah yes marvin and a Man Named sonny pacarl.
Found him he kind of knew what he was. Talking about.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Sonny was trying to get him one hundred million, dollar
deal and he thought he had One hundred he thought
He had lebron Signed.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
With adidas adidas is still regretting.
Speaker 2 (16:40):

Speaker 4 (16:56):

Speaker 2 (16:59):
About, it YEAH but i do want mel to get
Into the Hall of Fame And. Sonny Vacaro but sonny
he knew when he Was getting Jordan for Nike what
adidas was going to do in that Meeting With, Michael
jordan and if you watch, the movie that's exactly.
Speaker 9 (17:17):
What.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Happened Adidas barry melrose is the OTHER guy.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I want to get Into the Hall. Of fame, Thank,
You Paulie.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Barry melrose but the Fact that adidas missed Out on
michael and missed Out, on lebron it's.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Pretty, Remarkable Yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Paul lebron's deal out of high school was, seven years

Speaker 14 (19:21):
Seventy eight how you doing it?
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Any boy i'm doing GREAT and i want to play
to your, strings HERE because i know you love, your
TENNIS and i know that, men's final that this is
an all timer and maybe it leads to these two
being all timers. As Well so i'll let you have
the stage to give us.
Speaker 8 (19:42):
Your, PASSION well i think that from a, MATCH standpoint
i think the center played so well on that, FIFTH
set i think was very. VERY important i think if
he kind of got a part in the fifth set
and he got broken in the first game and say
lost a, ROUTINE one i think everybody would. Remember it
the fact that he had the three match points and
lost it in the, Fourth set the fact that he
(20:04):
played so well in the fifth that was actually two
points away from winning at fifteen thirty five Six when alcarez,
WAS serving, i think, you know puts this.
Speaker 14 (20:13):
At a higher level.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
Than, normal now the tie breaker was so Dominant, by
alcoarez but he was, So good so maybe that comes down.
Speaker 14 (20:20):
A notch but, you know.
Speaker 8 (20:21):
Every match is going to Be compared dan as, you
know the greatness of these finals to feder and the
dollar and eight when you know nine to seven in
the fifth and the Darkness, at wimbledon but this matches is,
you know it was, a again the personalities aren't quite.
The same those, two were, you know all time greats
when they played, that classic you Know.
Speaker 14 (20:40):
In london but this was an.
Speaker 8 (20:41):
Incredible match the the fact they.
Speaker 14 (20:45):
Didn't take a.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
Bathroom break, you know they gave each other line calls
five hours and twenty. Eight minutes, you know there was just.
A lot, i mean you never you didn't know who
was going to win into the. VERY end I mean
federal Was fighting pill the whole. WAY through I, mean alcarez,
you know once he got that, third set one of
the third set and then want to Four, set tiper
(21:07):
he thought he was. Gonna win then Here. COMES center
i mean it was an. ALD timer i mean it,
really was so you know for a guy. LIKE me
i sat there at, NINE o'clock i had golferd of.
The go at, ONE thirty i had a pass, of
golf which, bothered ME and i blew off, my Threesome
which i'm sure they weren't. Pleased about but HOW could?
I leave, you know match was over at three o'clock in.
The afternoon HOW could? I leave, YOU know i.
Speaker 14 (21:26):
LOVED it i THOUGHT you i don't know how you feel.
Speaker 8 (21:28):
About it you love the SPORTS like, i do the,
knit sports and this is a, knit. SPORT tennis i
thought it was the second Best event i've seen. THIS
year i Think McElroy sunday At the masters was. Number
one way he had to, win that, you know the pressure,
on him the Playoff, with ROSE and i think this was.
Number two the difference with the mcclroy one was that
was really only. About McElroy this was about the both.
(21:49):
Tennis players, you know really wasn't that Much About. Justin
rose it was really. About McElroy could he get rid of?
The demons this was. About both so, YOU know i
think this is one two for the year as far
as sports. Are concerned i'm not going To Count bill's
chiefs because that to me was the. Last year that
was a last year's. Season SCENARIO but i.
Speaker 14 (22:07):
Loved it i'm sure you. Did too you love. THESE
sports i loved it from.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
That, Standpoint YEAH and i go, back, To gosh i'm
trying to think first TIME that i met McEnroe and
FIRST time i. Interviewed HIM but i used to go
out to that Tournament On, long island, and YEAH so.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
I would go, out there and, You Know lendell.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Lendell had the great LINE because i, would say why
do you how come you so successful, against McEnroe and,
he goes it's, so easy, fourhand forehand, backhand WINNER.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
And i went four, hen forehand.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Backhand winner and he was so matter of fact about
that because he he. Just was he was that, robotic
type didn't. Have personality martina, was different but she had
a personality. As well but you Know When chris everett
was there, and uh, YOU know i Was In, new
YORK so i was able. To cover, you know we
(23:05):
would Do us open or, you Know The. Virginia slims
one of my, FIRST dates i took my wife To
The virginia slims And It's hannaman leikova is PLAYING and
i remember my wife's talking during the Match And hannaman
lika is getting ready to serve and she looks OVER
and i said to, MY wife, i said you got to.
Be quiet and then so you KNOW that i didn't,
(23:28):
scold Her, but hanahan you got.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
The.
Speaker 8 (23:30):
POINT yeah i used to Go To forest hills all
the TIME when I was my mother used to take
Me To forest hills all the time in the, late
sixties and, you know the glass Courts At. Forest hills uh,
YOU know, i Mean and leno's got more of a
personal than you. Think is he's a good interview lent him.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Back then he wasn't.
Speaker 8 (23:46):
Back then he he give.
Speaker 14 (23:49):
You, something yeah he lives up where we live.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Up, here Yeah Like Vetus Gerald, Betas garylitis dad as a,
great personality just didn't have the game that go along
with a. Great personality he was, really talented but He
was he was a fun guy to.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Be, around yeah.
Speaker 8 (24:08):
Beat author ash the year as, You know Ash beat
connors and the next Year garyl Ottis beat ash in the.
FIRST round i think you beat a made six and.
A fifth i also like the tiebreaker scenario. Two, there
dan we haven't really seen it In The grand slams
in a fifth.
Speaker 14 (24:22):
SET yet i like the first to ten over first. To,
SEVEN yeah i think, to me. That's fair it's like playing,
a set it's like playing a half. A SET so
i like. That, TOO listen i understand it's a.
Speaker 8 (24:32):
NID sport i don't want to sit there and say
that the whole world had to pay attention. To this
i'm sure the rating, wasn't great but from a, sportings
perspective and you are, YOU know i have a lot
more experience IN national tv and all the STUFF that.
Speaker 14 (24:44):
I do a little older, THAN me i tell you that.
Speaker 8 (24:47):
You're a little older, than me but you appreciate all
the greatness of all the all, the SPORTS and i
think you probably appreciate something what you saw There On sunday.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Afternoon too Christopher Mad, dog russo host Of Mad dog
Unleashed ON.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Sirius x i'm.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Eighty two you can see Him With steven a On
ESPN's first Take. On wednesdays i'm trying to Understand The jason.
Kidds situation You Have cooper flag coming, to town. GENERATIONAL
talent i think absolutely now you're asking for permission or
there's mutual interest in you Coaching. The knicks and the
only REASON why i think he'd be interested is that You're.
(25:24):
Getting Yannis that giannis would want to Play With. Jay
kidd but why would you want To? LEAVE dallas, I
mean i know he spent a little time in his
career With, the knicks but not enough where, you, go
boy he's one of the All time. Nick greats but
why would You leave dallas to go To The knicks
unless you Were Getting, Yannis, CHRIS.
Speaker 8 (25:45):
Yeah i Don't think milwaukee is going To trade giannis
the nixt. SAME conference i don't think that's going. TO
happen i Think san antonio. Is possible what Do the
knicks have to Give the bucks that they can. BUILD
around i mean this is if You, trade giannis you
got to get, You know castle and a couple of
Picks From. San antonio you gotta Do What oklahoma city
did when They traded anthony AND. GOT sga, i mean.
You can't what do you want Car the? Anthony towns
(26:07):
what's that going to? Do you so that doesn't make
any sense, To Me and i'm with you a. Hundred,
percent Now maybe kid feels he's more. Money involved, you
know maybe there's, you know not a lot of love
with the whole Thing with dallas because he Didn't want
luca to. BE traded, I mean i Don't love. KID
anyway i wouldn't go near him if it was. MY
team i know Him, In Brunson so i'm not saying
(26:27):
he wouldn't be a, bad choice but he doesn't appeal.
To me, but overall your point is. WELL taken, I
mean Corpra flegg is he's seventeen. Years old eighteen. YEARS old,
i mean unless we got it, all wrong he is
gonna be A great, nba player and he got him
for the next twelve. THIRTEEN years, i mean why would
you not want to? Coach Him the knicks don't have anybody.
(26:47):
LIKE that, i Mean the knicks. ARE older i mean
it's an, Easier CONFERENCE but, i mean why wouldn't you
want to deal With fleg you're Gonna get, kyrie back
you got a good, front court you got a lot
of young players in that. Front court, You know dave
has got a year or. Two left i'm with you one.
Hundred percent the nick job would not be attracted. To
ME and i wouldn't want.
Speaker 14 (27:05):
To Work for.
Speaker 8 (27:05):
DOLAN anyway, I mean i don't care what. Anybody says
dolan is the guy Who. FIRED thibodeaux, I mean i
don't think It Was.
Speaker 14 (27:10):
Leo rose this is. JUST me i.
Speaker 8 (27:12):
DON'T know I think DOLAN said i just don't want
to coach on my, team Anymore and rose.
Speaker 14 (27:17):
Had to do the. Dirty WORK but i wouldn't want
to work.
Speaker 8 (27:19):
For him so from, that STANDPOINT now i know he Played,
for dolan so maybe there's a. Kinship there but overall
your point is. Well taken why would you want to Leave?
The mavericks and and, you know it's a good organism despite,
the trade it's a good organization and they got the
first pick in. The draft it's a good coach place.
To coach you sort of get a little overshot ed By,
the cowboys which.
Speaker 14 (27:39):
Is good the media is not going to be as rough.
On you, TO me i, wouldn't leave but it sounds
like he's. Gonna GO and i don't know. ABOUT you
i don't Think. The bucks he's got two years nothing in,
his contract.
Speaker 8 (27:48):
Not one why Would the bucks chavan Of the knicks
For Call, anthony townsend, you know a?
Speaker 14 (27:52):
Draft pick why would you? Do that shop him around
with a team In.
Speaker 8 (27:55):
The west they get a lot of, young Players And
san antonio is perfect because they would probably Give you
castle and they probably would give you the second and
the fourteenth pick in. The draft THAT'S what i would
DO if I was milwaukee Want The jade, Jannis myself
THAT'S what i.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
WOULD do i mentioned this this morning to start. The
show stumbled upon this where social media was Talking About
lebron james that he doesn't have a. Signature, move now
the expression was that he doesn't have, the bag the bag,
Of TRICKS and, i said isn't that more remarkable that
he doesn't have a signature move and he scored forty.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
THOUSAND points i totally agree with you one.
Speaker 14 (28:30):
Hundred percent but can.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
You, Remember, though chris somebody of this magnitude who has
been criticized as Much as. LEBRON has, I mean brady
was criticized, a lot but there seems to be downright Hatred.
Speaker 8 (28:48):
FOR lebron i think this jealousy because, you know he
was such a phenom out of.
Speaker 14 (28:52):
HIGH school i think.
Speaker 8 (28:54):
There's jealousy because he was anointed The next jordan right
away and not. Bother people obviously going on the way
the way he Went to miami And, joining miami.
Speaker 14 (29:03):
Didn't you know that was an. Issue too but he's
always stayed out.
Speaker 8 (29:07):
Of trouble he's never gotten himself in any kind of
hot water off, the court. Per se he gives everything.
HE'S got, i, mean listen He's not he's not as Good.
As jordan that's.
Speaker 7 (29:17):
Just me.
Speaker 14 (29:17):
He's better he's the best forty year old of.
Speaker 8 (29:18):
All time but in, you KNOW if i had to
TAKE one i Would, take JORDAN but i agree, with
you he takes a Lot of, who cares what sort
of signature movie has? He's won he won, two championships
he's won. FOUR titles, i mean, you know, all right
he doesn't have this guy Hooked. LIKE kareem, I mean i.
Get It big deal doesn't have the dip, you know
the dip Shot like. Chamberlain had, You Know big deal
(29:39):
the little. Finger, roll uh, You know jordan's. Step back
he doesn't.
Speaker 14 (29:42):
HAVE that, i get? WHO cares, I mean i agree.
With you he's an.
Speaker 8 (29:45):
All timer uh, You know i'm not in love, with
THEM but i mean. That's me i'm being harsh.
Speaker 14 (29:50):
On him you're a. Overall point is well taken the
block Shot.
Speaker 8 (29:53):
Against iguadala it was an incredible, block shot probably helped
him as much as the irving shot win a championship
in that game Seven Against golden state, that year and
he won a Title.
Speaker 14 (30:03):
For cleveland so, to me he made good when He.
Speaker 8 (30:05):
Left miami he went Back to cleveland and won, a
CHAMPIONSHIP which i think that he had to do what,
he did so he's, you know he he he he
answered the, box there and you know he's still.
Speaker 14 (30:16):
Going.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
Strong, NOW listen i don't know if he's gonna win
another ONE because i don't Know where, dallas is, You,
know luca, YOU know i just don't Know where.
Speaker 14 (30:23):
Dallas is a lot of young teams In The.
Speaker 8 (30:25):
Western conference, but uh, you know he's an, all timer
and it's unfair that he, you know he can.
Speaker 14 (30:30):
Take it he gets, you know he's getting paid. A
fortune he can. Take it and The Stephen a, smith
Thing stephen a thing.
Speaker 8 (30:35):
Was weird, you know he shouldn't be that worried about
What stephen a says about. His kid and, you know let's,
face it They drafted Brownie because lebron Was.
Speaker 14 (30:43):
A laker they never would have. Done that they did It.
FOR lebron i didn't love, that either and he probably
shouldn't have made a big deal.
Speaker 8 (30:50):
About him who cares what anybody says about what you're,
you know bottom.
Speaker 14 (30:54):
Line is always an. All timer i'm, with You and i'll.
Speaker 8 (30:57):
Tell YOU the nba needs some. Juice here they need
a good. Game, three yes they need a good. Game
three game two is a. Terrible game game one was
only good in the last. Five minutes the ratings have.
Been terrible they need a good game three. Tomorrow night
that's important FOR the nba really is they did a.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Good game this Obsession With aaron rodgers and now.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
HE'S back, i mean the amount of Programming That aaron
Rodgers And lebron james have been responsible For at networks
is remarkable that when, they, retire like there's going to
be some real soul searching at networks to go who
are we?
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Talking?
Speaker 2 (31:37):
About now what are we? Talking about And With, AARON
rodgers i think this was a. HANDSHAKE deal i think
he's got great Respect From mike Tomlin, and okay he
didn't go. In early i'd like to, see that but
he's there and he signed a team. FRIENDLY deal i
don't think it solves their. QUARTERBACKING problem i mean it
(31:59):
kicks it can down the road for. Another year that's what.
It does but this is really more About the steelers
than It Is. Aaron rodgers, rogers, said hey here's here's.
The Timeframe the steelers the. Proud franchise They Acquiesced. Aaron
rodgers SO don't i Don't blame rogers other than do
you want to be great with, this team then get
in there and get to know. These players other, than
(32:22):
that he took. His time he's been through this process
before many many. Many Times, the steelers, to me they. Bound,
Down YEAH and i don't.
Speaker 8 (32:31):
Blame, Them, THOUGH dan, i mean, You Know, MASON rudolph,
I mean i Know the steeler fan doesn't, love IT
because i talked to him all.
Speaker 14 (32:36):
The time i'm sure you.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Do.
Speaker 8 (32:37):
Too well you don't love, it now but if You
left randolph be the quarterback and you're two and five after,
week seven you'd be booing and going crazy that you
don't have a quarterback on.
Speaker 14 (32:47):
Your, TEAM now i Understand.
Speaker 8 (32:48):
That rogers, you know the last year At the jets
was certainly very uneven and. Not great he wasn't great
in the, fourth quarter but he did throw for four.
THOUSAND yards i mean he did throw a lot of
touchdown passes and compare to interceptions and finished the. Season
better and he is a better Quarterback Than. Russell wilson
and he's a better Quarterback Than. Mason rudolph the team
is better Than. The jets they have a, better defense
(33:11):
they got a better, cultural situation they got a, better
owner they got a better, You know tomlin's Better, Than
SALAH so i think he's woked and he's a year
removed now From, the achilles so he's, you know he
should be a. LITTLE better i could care less if
he didn't show up for the voluntary OTAs.
Speaker 14 (33:26):
Who cares it's a long Way to.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
September eighth i'm assuming he's going to be rare and
to go Against the Jets that sunday afternoon when. He
plays what's the date, on it the sixth or Seventh.
OF september, I mean i understand that it's only a one.
YEAR thing i understand that you still don't have an
answer for you at.
Speaker 14 (33:43):
The position but as far as the situation goes For,
the steelers they're.
Speaker 8 (33:47):
A better team now than they were let's say a
week Ago with Mason ruddat so it's. Not ideal he
does suck a lot of oxygen out of. The room,
hey jive you crazy with McAfee and on day and day,
Our basis but they're a better team today than they were.
Last week they'd be more competitive this year IN THE
AFC Sud.
Speaker 14 (34:07):
Afc NORTH so i can live with the fumischulter.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Fan.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Myself ANYWAY if i gave you one Question To, aaron
rodgers what would?
Speaker 7 (34:16):
It BE.
Speaker 14 (34:18):
One i can ask. Him anything. One, question wow that's an.
Interesting one.
Speaker 15 (34:27):
One, question uh the portrayal of you is you always
think you're the smartest guy in.
Speaker 14 (34:37):
The room because he does think that he's smarter. Than
here he wants to let you. Know it is that a?
False portrayal or is that an? Accurate portrayal? How's that something?
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Like that he'd probably say. It's accurate he.
Speaker 8 (34:52):
Probably would he. Probably would and let's, face, it then
he hasn't been. Great recently he hasn't been great in the.
Big game, you know he was bad against There for
francisco in the, playoff game remember that game in, the
snow and he didn't play.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Very.
Speaker 8 (35:03):
Well, yeah no he didn't play Well against Brady when
tampa went there In the amps IN The nfc.
Speaker 14 (35:07):
Championship game, you know they kicked the field goal when they.
Speaker 8 (35:10):
Were down, you know he didn't he didn't throw the
one the end zone on that, third down remember that,
famous play you Know against detroit the last game of,
the year or they would, have won they would have made.
Speaker 14 (35:18):
The playoffs he didn't play great in that. Game either
he didn't have a.
Speaker 8 (35:21):
Great year so he hasn't been great in the last
three or, four years and he's forty two years. Of
age so if you're one of those who, thinks that,
you know he's way past his prime and he's no
better than a little better.
Speaker 14 (35:33):
Than average that's a hard one for you.
Speaker 8 (35:35):
And me to argue if we Think the steelers are
a better Team with rodgers on the. Quarterback spot but the,
bottom line, TO me i still think he's Better than
wilson and he's Better Than.
Speaker 14 (35:43):
Mason rudolph so take.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
A chance thanks for combing your hair for. This, APPEARANCE
yeah i did a little, bit.
Speaker 14 (35:49):
It wash IT and, i SAY and i wore a.
Nice sweater just A year.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
I bring the. Beard, back yeah.
Speaker 14 (35:55):
You know maybe in the. Summer time, You know i'm
Going to wimbledon for the.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
First time did you know that did not?
Speaker 14 (36:01):
Two days. Never been i'll be there the first two
days of, the tournament not working as.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
A fan i think you'll be surprised when you go
inside that it's it's smaller than what.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
You think.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Oh, really YEAH when i Went To notre DAME and
i went to a game there, FIRST time i got
in there and it just. Felt smaller, you know certain THINGS,
on tv they'll make it look larger and you get
in there and, you're like, oh wow it's, you Know.
Like fenway first time you Go, to fenway, you're, like
damn that leftfield wall is is right there.
Speaker 14 (36:36):
And it's tiny city block the. Whole bit but.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Now looking around Walking, around wimbledon it's. It's wonderful there's
so much. To, see yeah. So, Much yeah i'm.
Speaker 14 (36:46):
Going to do the first.
Speaker 8 (36:47):
Two days SO if i don't say that, First day
i'll be THERE so i Can see center one day because,
he'll play he'll be at the, second SET and i
can See aqua as another day because they will stood
up the, two Seats so i'll be able to see
both of.
Speaker 14 (36:59):
Them play have You?
Speaker 4 (37:00):
PLAYED oakmont i, Have, not, OKAY yes.
Speaker 14 (37:05):
I hear, it's, Great right it's.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
IMPOSSIBLY hard i WOULDN'T make i wouldn't want to play
it again, too LONG but i.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
LOVED it i mean it's. Just tough it was just.
Too tough yeah.
Speaker 7 (37:18):
You're.
Speaker 14 (37:18):
Dead.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Yeah yeah the greens the greens are, you know. Lightning
fast if you're above, the whole like. Forget it that's
where you tell somebody down at the bottom of, the,
green hey would you stop my ball before it, you
know rolls. Fifty, yards yeah but it'll be it'll be
a challenging and they make no excuses of they want
(37:38):
this to be a challenge and it certainly.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Will, be yeah looking forward.

Good LIFE but i saw a documentary and they slid
in The. Family stone they were playing in a Like
A central park Or In central park Somewhere In New,
york city and it was just this big, concert series
(38:43):
sort of Like a woodstock type and you had all
of these black artists and the guys would come out
and they'd have like a suit and tie on and
Slide The family stone came out and it was just.
Completely different you want to look At what prince based
some of what, he did and Look at sly In The.
Family stone IT was, i Mean, Even Parliament. GEORGE clinton,
(39:08):
i mean there's a lot of people who owe a
Lot to sly in The. Family Stone but sly it
was a. Great sound he was dressed up and that
was a completely different look at, that show.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
That, Concert yes marton.
Speaker 11 (39:25):
Watching his documentary and seeing the impact that he's had
on so many people in the past. Fifty years you
would think they were hot for. Fifteen years that was
maybe like an eight. Year stretch you know that they
were on fire, like that and what he did.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Was, unbelievable yeah he retired and then he came back
and he Was On.
Speaker 4 (39:42):

Different times they said over three hundred times over the
years covered.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Their.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
SONG yeah i mean there was a vibe. To it it,
sounded great it was different and he was. DIFFERENT too,
i mean even You Know, Rick james there's a lot
of different artists who probably sampled off sly in The Family.
