Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's the final hour on this Meet Friday, Dan and
the Dan Nets Dan Patrick Show. Todd's here, sabotaging self, sabotaging.
Dylan's in for Seaton. Seaton is on the road. He's
taking in the Ohio State Texas game, and he's out
there for the Fox Sports Radio tailgate Tour. Head to
Danpatrick dot com to follow a long stat of the

(00:27):
day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading
cards of the program. Good morning, those watching on Peacock
and those listening to our great radio affiliates around the
country over four hundred cities that carry this program. We
take a little time out from the Cowboys Packers. Micaeh
Parsons News. There's a lot of money coming in on

(00:47):
Texas in the last twenty four hours, a lot of
money on the Texas Longhorns. Ohio State was favored by
one and a half. I thought it would be a
pick him by game time. Now Texas is a half
point favorite in this game coming up on Saturday at noon.
Some other point spreads Alabama two touchdowns over Florida State

(01:09):
LSU plus four at Clemson is spicy, and Notre Dame
minus two and a half at Miami. Just some of
the bigger games. What is North Carolina on Monday night?
Are they still an underdog? Dylan?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I'm checking right now.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Thought they were getting three points, three and a half points, Paulie, yep, Okay.
By the way, it is a meet Friday, and Dylan.
Dylan has been smoking his brisket, hey now, for the
last twelve hours and should be ready to come off
the tragger grill coming up here later on this hour.
He spent the night here at the man Cave, and

(01:51):
I thought that that was you know, that's a man
who has just created a legacy when they think of
Dylan years from now, isn't that the guy who spent
the night at the man Cave smoking his brisket.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I'll take any legacy I can get then.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Also, caprize salad, although I was just informed it's you
don't pronounce the e at the end of it's capriz salad.
I go, I don't think so, it's caprize.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
I've always said caprazy. I've been corrected before too, and
honestly either one.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Yeah, Paul I think I think it's Capresee.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Not Caprize, I think, okay, Capresee. We also have a
cole swamp potato salad. Who has it better than we do? No,
all right, we'll get to more phone calls coming up.
Let me see poll question for the final hour of
the program. Dylan is going to be one.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
All right, Dan, Well, do you want the results from
our previous one?

Speaker 6 (02:50):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
By the way, it's a big ten Saturday Night. It'll
be NBC and Peacock in the big House, New Mexico
and number fourteen Michigan. Here comes Saturday night. And looking
at the point spread for that, New Mexico is getting
thirty four and a half at Michigan. All right, Neil,
that's a line I liked that you like New Mexico. Yeah,

(03:12):
of course you do.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
So.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
The previous poll question was does a handshake deal make
more sense than a fully ironed out contract in writing
that has been reviewed by professionals? Eighty five percent say no,
ok surprisingly, fifteen percent say yes.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
The new pole.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Question, I like the worst trade Dallas Trading Micah or
Dallas Trading Luca.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well, which one surprised you more? I mean, there's I'm
a little bit surprised that Jerry actually traded Marka and
you trade him in the NFC Luca that came out
of nowhere. And it feels like both of these franchises
didn't really entertain a lot of other offers because it
felt like Dallas was sending him to La and it

(03:58):
didn't sound like anybody else is in the mix Micah.
Now there have been reports that other teams kind of
kicked the tires, but I don't know if anybody put
forth an offer for Micah Parsons except for Green Bay.
A couple of phone calls in here were six days
until the NFL opener, And I was talking to an

(04:21):
NFL executive yesterday, former NFL executive, and he said, you know,
this was before Micah got traded. He said, you know,
Dallas has got to get their game plan ready on Sunday.
That usually, you know, you've got to have a good
six days, five days ready to go, so you're really
ready to dive in on Wednesday. Now this is a

(04:41):
Thursday night game. And he said, you know, how much
can you use Micah? How much are you going to
be able to use him in a situation like that?
And he said, what happens a lot of times. You know,
Darrell Reeves did this where he joined the Jets, I think,
and then he got hurt right after that pull to
hamstring or tweak to hamstring because you're not ready to

(05:03):
play football. And by all accounts he's been a hold
in and not participating in any drills there. I don't
know how ready he Packer's got the Lions, don't they
opening week? And how much can you lean on him
in a huge divisional game that's going to be an
issue as well. Buster and Lancaster, Hey, Buster, Hey, mister

(05:31):
Dan is here.

Speaker 7 (05:32):
Buster, first of all, shout out to Dylan doing the
Lerd's work on the brisket there. I know that's a
long shift, but hey, you know what they say, you
got to risk it to get the brisket. So I
just wanted to see what you thought of my take here.
I think Jerry is pulling an old Texas two step
on us, and I still think he's got a grand plan.
He's going to go flipping some of these picks and

(05:52):
the probably bad pick that they're going to get this year,
and that man's going for arch Manning and throw a
little Cayenne pepper on that take for you. Why don't
they bring in Nick Saban as well?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh my god, let me let Brian Schottenheimer have a
year here. Uh Do I think they're going to move
on from dak Prescott sooner than later? Yes? I do,
But you know you got him for this year and
next year and then after that you move on from him.
But everybody, so Jerry went from a guy who what

(06:25):
are you doing? To now he's going to be the genius.
He's going to flip these picks and he's going to
bring in a player. Well, you had the player, you didn't.
You didn't have to get the picks to bring in
the player. You just had to pay the player.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
Yes, Bill, No one's really brought up Brian Schottenheimer in this.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
He kind of has just been getting flogged basically since
he got hired. And then they just trade away the
best player. They're like, we're really.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Going to give you nothing of the work.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Well, well he should get used to this not really
having a voice now that that's what the job is.
You know you're coaching, but we know who the coach is. Uh,
Ryan in South Dakota. Hi, Ryan, went's on your mind?

Speaker 8 (07:05):
Barn and gentlemen, I absolutely love this trade for my
Green Bay packers. But I don't feel great about walking
into Texas and absolutely fleecing an eighty year old man.
That does not feel great. But the person I feel
bad for in this is Kenny Clark. Our fan base

(07:27):
loves that guy. I feel bad that he's going to
the situation in Dallas. He didn't ask for this. He's
gonna catch a lot of strays that he doesn't deserve.
But glad to have Micah in Green Bay.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
All right, thank you Ryan, Well, Steven Jones could to
help Jerry Jones there. And so if you feel like,
you know, we shouldn't have taken advantage of Jerry Jones.
If Jerry trusted other people, then maybe he would allow
them to step in and say, hey, we could do
better than this. Why don't we see if there are
other teams might be interested in Micah Parsons, or hey,
Jerry's really holding a grudge against Micah in March, how

(08:01):
about we trade him. How about we, you know, make
him available to anybody who's interested in him. And back
then what it would have cost you to bring in
Micah Parsons would have been a bargain. If somebody had
traded for him, then you would have gotten more draft picks.
The team who then brings him in and signs him
is going to get a bargain, you know, as we

(08:22):
look at what happened with those contracts at that position.
Austin in Louisiana. Hi, Austin, what's on your mind?

Speaker 9 (08:29):
Hey?

Speaker 10 (08:29):
What DP?

Speaker 11 (08:30):
Call me back?

Speaker 9 (08:31):
Yep?

Speaker 11 (08:32):
First off, I just want to say shut a DTGG Dylan,
the graphics guy. I think he's been a great addition
to the show content wise, and other than his minus
twenty nine gambling units, those were all golf thatch Dan,
I think he's been really good. You know, so I
can get to my take and see what you think
about it. You know, I'm going to take you back
to not herschel Walker days, not ten years ago, not

(08:54):
five years ago. Take you back two and a half
months ago when another very high profile sports franchise traded
their best player, the Boston Red Sox, trading Raffael Devers
for a packet going. You know, it was widely panned.
Everybody crapped on Craig Breslos, They didn't know what he
was doing, blah blah blah, the same stuff you're going

(09:14):
to hear about Jerry Jones today. Since then, the Boston
Red Sox have had the second best winning percentage in
the American League and are firmly supplanted in the playoffs. Now,
this Red Sox team hasn't made the playoffs in five years, Dan,
that's with Raffael Devers on the team, they're going to
make it.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
But I can't give the GM credit if he's also
the same GM who brought in Rafael Devers different sport.

Speaker 11 (09:39):
I get it, I get it, but I think that
what won't we talked about today, Dan is is locker
room chemistry, and that mattered for the Red Sox. Now,
I'm not saying that Parsons is a locker room cancer
or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Okay, okay, hold on here and thank you, Austin. If
that's the case and you're talking about the locker room
and this is guy who's got a loud mouth, he's
got his own podcast, then why are you trying to
sign him? In March?

Speaker 12 (10:06):
Like?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
What changed? He didn't get louder, did he? I mean,
he didn't go on social media and saying I'm out
of here, see you done with the Cowboys? And everybody's like,
oh what I'm sure these were things that bothered Jerry, Like,
who is Micah Parsons to do this to me? Didn't
you see the eight part documentary on me? Who are you?

(10:29):
What do you want? I'm a Hall of Famer And
I'm sure that he was bothered by a twenty six
year old kid and he's like, no, you listen to me, Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 13 (10:42):
If you're a Cowboys fan, realistically, what do you consider
to be a successful season?

Speaker 2 (10:48):
A winning record? Maybe maybe in the conversation for the playoffs,
but I don't know what the reasonable expectations are now.
Dak was in last year they win seven games, but
they had a terrible defense last year. And I have
no problem trading somebody, but tell me when you're trading,

(11:10):
what kind of leverage do you have and what are
you getting in return? All of those things went against
the Cowboys? Could it? It's it's weird to have a
compass and you don't pick a direction. That's what it
feels like. We're all in. I don't know what that meant.
We're all in, We're all in trouble, Like what are

(11:33):
you all in on? But pick a direction, pick a lane,
and then stay with that and if I'm a fan
of ownership, then I'd be like, all right, he's got
an idea, He's got it, you know, he's got a direction. Great,
it doesn't sound like they have.

Speaker 10 (11:49):
A direction here.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Maybe hey, bring back Zeke Elliott too.

Speaker 9 (11:53):
Oh you're at.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Joe in Wisconsin. Hi Joe, what's honeyman?

Speaker 14 (11:59):
The fifth time in a long time. We just finished
golf league, sitting out there with the boys, drinking a
few trainnies, and the news comes through. So the first
thing we all do is jump on our phone and
get to the bookies website to try to beat the odds,
which we did, so got locked in there. And then
I'm with.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Rob Demowski on the deal.

Speaker 14 (12:19):
I think you bring him to a fresh start, get
him in a new space. He doesn't have to worry
about all the glitz and glamour with the Cowboys, and
he just comes to Green Band, plays some football.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Thank you, Joe. Trainees are transfusions. If you've been on
the golf course and transfusion, well, you don't have to
be on the golf course to have a transfusion. What's
in a transfusion, Dylan, thank.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
You for asking me. Dan, It's vodka. Gingerreil and grape
juice with the lime Witch.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
I remember being at Pebble Beach and I was out
there for my sixtieth birthday, and I brought in eleven
other guys, including a couple of my brothers. Darius Rutger
came out and one guy went really hard night before
and then we were going to play Pebble Beach the
next day. And if you've been to Pebble, so there's one,

(13:06):
there's two three fourth hole. There was a cart person
there and they were making transfusions. So the one guy
went really really hard, was lying down on the bench
waiting for he fell asleep. He was waiting for his transfusion,
and we left him. I don't know when he woke
up all of a sudden, if they drove him back out,

(13:27):
you know, four holes later, but I just remember he
needed transfusions, Like I think he needed literally a transfusion,
but he had a few of those transfusions. Next thing
I know, he's back and he's in it for the
long haul. Yes, Neil, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
A I feel like if you're doing a golf trip
at a place like Pebble, that's an expensive round to
show up and fall asleep for so you want to
be at least in some shape.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
By the way, Jerry at his press conference was ask
about the urgency of bringing a winner to Dallas.

Speaker 15 (14:03):
We have the highest paid player in the NFL at quarterback,
and we made that commitment last year. We're proud we
made it and had everything to do with this decision.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Everything it is.

Speaker 15 (14:15):
Give us every opportunity with Dak, Press, God and Lamb
and the base that we've got to win.

Speaker 10 (14:22):
Now, what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (14:27):
So we're proud that we overpaid for Dak. He got hurt.
He's thirty two. What they should really limit the number
of times he gets in front of a microphone. They should, because, okay,

(14:48):
is that gonna help you win all these games? But
Micah wouldn't help you win games, and you overpaid for him.
But you wouldn't overpay for Michael Parsons. I'd overpay for
Michael Parsons. He's twenty, he's six years younger. Dak's been
banged up. It just sometimes it be lies logic where

(15:09):
you're just going, I really don't know what he's talking about,
And it feels like Jerry gets in front of the
media and he just starts talking. It's not like he
has a game plan. He's just gonna talk and then
I'll figure it out while I'm talking. And you know,
these aren't really crisp comments. They're just kind of floating,

(15:31):
you know, like clouds, and they're like, oh boy, where
are we going with this? Oh no, it'll be good.
It's not raining, it's not going to be you know,
and then there's thunder and lightning. Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 13 (15:43):
Yeah, watching the press conference yesterday, it was about eight
different comments that he made where I would have just
raised my hand.

Speaker 16 (15:50):
What does that mean because you just said a bunch
of words. Well, look, everybody's afraid of access there. You
want to be careful. I want to be repet to Jerry.
It's just I Jerry doesn't read the room, and it's
read the room that he's in controlling. And that's the

(16:11):
disappointing part is he did something incredible and what he
built this team into and they haven't been good and
he still built them into a double digit billion.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Dollar you know entity. It's just the NFL's moved past him,
and that's unfortunate.

Speaker 13 (16:30):
Yeah, Mark, and I think as a Cowboys fan in
the past thirty years, it's not like they've been sorry.
They've had some great regular seasons where it's like they
give Cowboys fans just enough hope to think they can
pull off another super Bowl just to crash and burn
in the playoffs. And that's happened to me about four
or five times with bad home playoff losses.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
I appreciate Michael Parsons when when he plays at you know,
his peak level, he's probably the best player, best defensive
player in the game. I just want to make sure
that he's going to be consistently great. Not Hey, I'm
going to kind of be there and then I'll ramp
it up a little bit. I want to make sure
that he acts like he's the greatest player defensive player

(17:14):
in the game. I can count on Miles Garrett and TJ.
Watt and Max Crosby to be great, consistently great. I
want to make sure that Michael Parsons is going to
be there and want to dominate.

Speaker 13 (17:27):
Yes, Marvin Well, He's going to another fan base that
loves their team just as much as the Cowboys, so
there's no room for he could kind of turn it
on and off. They're not going to accept that in
Green Bay, especially not for that price.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Let's take a break. We're going to talk to Vince Young,
the national title winner at Texas finish runner up in
the Heisman. I remember when Reggie Bush lost his heisman,
Well they took it away and Paul goes. Vince Young
finished second. He should get the heisman. So I'll ask
Vince about that coming up, and about this game with

(18:01):
what advice he would give to arch Manning going into Columbus.
We'll take a break. More of your phone calls coming
up as well on this Meet Friday. We're back after this.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 17 (18:20):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.

Speaker 18 (18:29):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blover lit lame and me.

Speaker 17 (18:43):
Well, you know what, it's called over Promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 18 (18:47):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised. Well, if
you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make sure you
check out over Promise and also uncensored, by the way,
so maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.

(19:09):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast of all time.
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Case you're wondering, the Eagles Cowboys betting line opening night
next Thursday, seven and a half. Prior to the Micah
Parsons deal, it was seven and a half. I guess
the bookies, the oddsmakers didn't think he was going to play,
or if he did, how much he would play. And
would even have an impact here. So it's stayed the

(19:45):
same at seven and a half eh seven seven to three.
DP Show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at
DP show. He is Vince Young, former Texas quarterback and
won a national championship back in five I've beating USC
Heisman Trophy runner up and has a podcast. It's called
The Stampede the Texas Longhorns. It's a weekly show. It's

(20:09):
Vince former coach Mac Brown and stories that you haven't
heard before. Go to the stampedeut dot com to subscribe.
There he is Vince Young joining us on the program.
Can you relate to the pressure that Arch Manning is
gonna face coming up this season?

Speaker 10 (20:29):
Yes, a lot of it, but he's ready for it.
He's ready for it. He's definitely ready for it.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Okay, what do you see in him so far? Because
it's been a small sample size that leads you to
believe he's ready for this.

Speaker 10 (20:46):
Well, just being around him, the way he carriesself. He
has that I respect you kind of attitude. Character like
it's about my teammates. He has fun, he's goofy, he's silly.
He even challenged me one day. I was throwing the
ball to my son on the football field and he
was like, v why do you still got it?

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Like what good one? Good one?

Speaker 10 (21:13):
So that type of things right there, just to show
me what type of person he is. And you know
a lot of people don't understand when you have two
uncles and a dad as in your family that went
through it all and you was a kid just sitting
behind the scenes watching it and learning it, even getting
small words from your uncle and dad. You know that

(21:33):
resonates for you as you get older as a kid.
So you can see it in him and I can
feel it too when he talks and how you carry itself.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
How successful were you against Eli and Peyton?

Speaker 10 (21:44):
Pretty pretty successful? I mean me and Peyton went at
it because we had to play him twice twice a year,
and yeah, I think I'm undefeated against Eli. I got
Eli a couple of times.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Okay, Yeah, But when you see Peyton, do you see
Arch more like Eli or Peyton or neither neither?

Speaker 10 (22:07):
You know, I feel like he has the traits. I
think he has that big head like.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
His uncle, but he doesn't run like his uncles.

Speaker 10 (22:17):
He don't run like his uncle, and I feel like
he has his own swag, It has his own character.
Especially with this generation. You can tell with this generation,
these guys, you know, they have a little bit more
fun with their teammates, and which is a good thing
because of the fact in order to win on the
level that he's on at Texas, you got to have

(22:38):
a little bit more chemistry and more character with your guys.
And you can see that with the whole entire Texas team.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
If you ran a forty against Arch, who's winning.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
He got me right now, he does unless he give
me a week or two to warm up. And it
takes that long for me to warm up right now.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
But you could run a forty in four to six.

Speaker 10 (22:58):
I can get it by into four to six. And
are not just coming out the stands or something like that. No,
I won't get it if they give me like hours
in the back. Yeah, give me a hot tub and
some cold tub and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Then Yeah, what highlight comes to mind when you think
of your career looking back? What's what's the one highlight
you want fans to remember?

Speaker 10 (23:20):
Oh man, my favorite is I graduated.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
You know, Oh cool?

Speaker 10 (23:25):
A lot of people didn't in my neighborhoods and my
peers and the daughters didn't think that I was going
to finish UH with that piece of paper. So that's
one of my major highlights, UH for my entire family
because I was the first to graduate, and then I
set the tone for my kids as well to go
and get your degree as well.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
I'm talking to Vince Young, former Texas quarterback won a
national championship in five and it's called The Stampede a
podcast on the Texas Longhorn. So it's a weekly show
hosted by Vince with Mac Brown and called The stamp
Heed on stampedeut dot com to subscribe. Take me in

(24:05):
the Huddle National title game USC and Mac Brown sends
in the play what is the play when you run
for the touchdown?

Speaker 10 (24:15):
The play is menu too, So it's something we ran
just about it all the time. It was one of
our top plays that we ran that I felt like
a lot of people couldn't stop it. We was very
successful in it percentage wise, and before we left Austin,
coach Coach Brown and coach Greg Davis office and coordinator
at the time was if the game was on the line,
what play? What play would you call?

Speaker 9 (24:36):
Him?

Speaker 10 (24:37):
And me being where I am as quarterback sneak. You know,
I walked the ball in my hands, and you know,
coaches us this is why coaches coach and players play.
They was like, why we just call a pass play
and it gives you both options, And sure enough, it
happened just how we talked about it before we left Austen.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
It felt like they had a spy, but the spy
wasn't fast enough.

Speaker 6 (24:59):
To ca you.

Speaker 10 (25:01):
Well, first of all, you know, they ran that blitz
a couple of times, that strong, strong blitz a couple
of times, and all our guys did was stay at home,
did what they supposed to do. And then Selvin Young
did what he's supposed to do. If there's nobody there,
run your route, and he ran his route to the
point that he got Rutger to focus on him just

(25:21):
enough for me to take off with the ball. So,
you know, a lot of people give me a lot
of credit for that play, but I give a lot
of credit to my old line and so Man Young
for doing everybody doing their job. And you know, I
can find that that spy guy for me.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Best player you played against, that's.

Speaker 10 (25:38):
Player and just in college or pros, just period period.
Oh Man it's a couple of names out there, Dad Reed,
Uh yeah, aj Hawk at Ohio State game that was
oh my butt the whole time. Troup Polamala, unbelievable player,

(26:04):
Big Harrison, Pittsburgh still lives d Lion. Yeah, it's a
long list.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
James Harrison. Is he crazy?

Speaker 10 (26:11):
Yeah? He dunked me. I don't know if if I
remember that. He he slapped my butt in that game.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Did you say anything?

Speaker 10 (26:21):
I was pretty pissed. I didn't say nothing to him.
I was pretty pissed at the referees for allowing it
to happen.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
It looked like WWE exactly.

Speaker 10 (26:31):
So I was like, man, I need to get my
weight up. I need to some more potatoes. He just
made that look so easy.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Did you ever think about asking for the heisman when
Reggie Bush had it taken away?

Speaker 10 (26:45):
No, they tried to give it to me. Uh, but
you know, I didn't want to take it because of
the fact that he wanted fair and square. So you know,
Reggie was a dynamic player, and he was a great
individual character guy that I appreciate even that to this
day when we have opportunities come together and do things together.
He's just a fun person. And he wanted fairy Square.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Because he wanted on the field, is what you're saying.

Speaker 10 (27:08):
He definitely wanted on the field for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (27:11):
If the Heisman was probably after then I probably shore.
I think we probably would have they would have caved
it to me. But he earned a Faery Square for sure.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
But you didn't have a chip on your shoulder going
into the national title game.

Speaker 10 (27:24):
Yeah, I was pissed off a little. I was definitely
upset because I wanted to bring that Heusman back to Austin, because,
you know, Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams wanted You know,
a lot of people don't understand that the Heisman Trophy,
it's not just an individual accolade. It's actually a team award.
So I really wanted to bring that back home to

(27:44):
Austin and then so we can have three Heisman Trophies
at the University of Texas.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Yeah, but you got the national title, and you'd rather
have a national title than a Heisman.

Speaker 10 (27:52):
Yeah, and we needed that because I think it was
thirty seven years before we had a championship. So we
definitely need to bring that trophy back to Austin, Texas.
In the state of Texas As.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Matthew McConaughey ever suggested to put you in a movie.

Speaker 10 (28:07):
I haven't tapped him on his shoulder yet about that yet,
but it's coming.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Oh it is.

Speaker 10 (28:13):
I will. There's some things that I that's working underneath
the radar. But you know, for him to mentor Jon
right now, I thought that was pretty cool because Bijeon
wants to get into acting when he's done playing, and
well while he's playing, and for him for Matthew to
give him guidance on that. You know, I should have

(28:35):
took a vetage of that a long time ago. But
you know, I'm happy that he's doing that for a
lot of the you know, young athletes out there that
want to get probably involved with in the movies.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
You on the sidelines on Saturday.

Speaker 10 (28:47):
Oh yeah, I don't too much. Let my loanhorn go
to any places without.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Me, now does Sarkesian? Has he ever asked you for advice?

Speaker 10 (28:58):
I spoke to the team before, you know, kind of
game give them, you know, things that they should work on,
things that they should focus on understanding the tradition of
the University of Texas, you know, things like that. You know,
I didn't enjoy doing that, but most time I don't.
I don't bother coach. I just like being around him.
He's a great coach, pretty good coach. He's down to earth,

(29:20):
you know. I like talking to him about the USC
games and talking football. You know, he played at BYU quarterback.
You know, we kind of in the same position because
we played in the same you know, same the same position.
So it's always cool to be around coach Star.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
And Sark was there at USC when you won the
national title.

Speaker 10 (29:38):
Yeah, so you know we had to ask him, why
did you why you didn't have Reggie Bush in the
game on that that play? Everybody wanted to know that,
So that was the first question I had to ask
when I first met him when he came to Texas
and you know, came the head coach at the University
of Texas.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Well, I have fun in Columbus. Hopefully they treat you
nice and good luck with the podcast bench.

Speaker 10 (29:59):
Yeah, hopefully they had treat me. Like you said, it's
gonna be really wild out there. But thanks man. I'm
glad to have opportunity to chat. Which is good to
see you.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
That's Vince Young, former Texas quarterback. He was the six
NFL offensive Rookie of the Year, two time Pro Bowl
quarterback as well. I'm hearing from USC fans. Why do
you have Vince Young on? I go, why are you
so sensit? I mean I have Matt Weinert on, Well,
I have Lendale white on if you want to nic Yes, Todd.

Speaker 19 (30:30):
We've had San Chaz Reggie, but we've had plenty of
USC cousin.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
I know, but Vince Young ran in the touchdown and
they'd lost the nation. I'll have to get over it.

Speaker 13 (30:38):
There was two thousand and five.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Oh coming from you? Getting over so like thirty nine.

Speaker 10 (30:44):
Ten Super Bowls.

Seea and Albert Querque. Hi Deanna, Hello, Hi.

Speaker 12 (31:05):
I'd like to weigh in for my husband Ryan at
six four two thirty five. He's a diehard fan and
then listening to y'all forever and it's his birthday today and.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
His name is Ryan Ryan. Okay, here we go.

Speaker 10 (31:20):
Three?

Speaker 5 (31:21):
Two what ball?

Speaker 6 (31:23):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (31:23):
Just getting the criscendo.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Oh you were, oh you were being the conductor there.
You had your hands up. I thought I was like
a stop sign there, Birdy, you have to go down.

Speaker 12 (31:40):
That was awesome. I just make his his day, his weak,
huge fan, and he says I reminded him of a fritzy.
He calls me a little fritzy. I seem not a compliment.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
That's not that's unfortunate, that is not. Oh yes, I see.
So to break this out, yes, thank you though you
did it. You did your job, Deanna. But have a
great weekend. Thanks for joining us. Let's see Jacob in Oklahoma. Hi, Jake,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 20 (32:14):
Hey Dan, first time caller, a longtime listener, one point
seven meters eighty kilograms. Okay, and it's very horrid my
muscles at least.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Of course, I don't.

Speaker 20 (32:29):
Think you could talk about getting over anything. You just
celebrated your Fimier anniversary with the Baigo incident, so I
don't know if that's really something you've been doing, and
you kind of touched on it. But Michael Parsons, I've
seen him a couple of times in person, and I've
kind of been underwhelmed. It just seems like his effort

(32:51):
is kind of hit or miss. I know, Jerry should
have signed Mike a long time ago. But with forty
seven mill a year, I kind of got to defend
Garry a little bit. I mean, it's not like he
was going to win anything going for it. He's probably
still not going to And.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Look, Jacob, I understand that. I think he got to
a point where he was too expensive and there was
some you know, kind of leftover scar tissue. But do
it in March. If you're going to hold a grudge
against him because he didn't agree to that deal that
was a handshake agreement, then trade him. If you're going
to do something for the betterment of the franchise, then

(33:30):
do it back then. That way you can bring in
other teams. Everybody's got their draft picks. Micah Parsons is available,
come on down, who's interested. But thank you for the
phone call. We'll take a break. The brisket is gorgeous.
I don't know how it tastes, but Dylan just took
it off the grill and it is been cooking. I

(33:53):
think he said sixteen hours brisket. Meet Friday. We're back
after this.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
This day in sports history as well. Eric and Iowa
joins us. Hi, Eric, what's on your mind today? O?

Speaker 7 (34:20):
Five eight?

Speaker 8 (34:21):
According to the military, A steady two oh five first.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
Time long time.

Speaker 8 (34:27):
I've been a Cowboys fan my whole life.

Speaker 11 (34:29):
I'm fifty years old.

Speaker 7 (34:30):
I follow the circus my whole life.

Speaker 11 (34:32):
I got I get to listen to it every day.

Speaker 7 (34:34):
It's crazy.

Speaker 12 (34:35):
Did you actually sit You actually said.

Speaker 7 (34:38):
Now they're capable of making a play they were people
of making a.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
Playoff run with Micah.

Speaker 6 (34:43):
Did you say that?

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Yes, that's crazy.

Speaker 11 (34:46):
You've been talking smack about Jerry for a month.

Speaker 7 (34:49):
Listen.

Speaker 20 (34:50):
Will McClay is drafted more Pro bowlers in the last
fifteen years than anybody else.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Or we dealt with it with Dak and hell was
it done for you?

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Eric?

Speaker 20 (34:58):
Not very well?

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Okay, So I can compliment him, but I can also
criticize him. Eric, maybe you're too close to this. I'm neutral.
I couldn't. If the Cowboys are great, it's great content.
If they're not great, it's great content. But I think
if you have Dak and CD and you have Michael Parsons,
you have a pretty good headstart. Is it a tough division, Absolutely,

(35:19):
they're over under seven and a half. But trashing Jerry,
I'm criticizing Jerry because look at where we ended up, Eric,
look at where we ended up with this situation. Is
that trashing him or was that just being honest?

Speaker 7 (35:36):
Well, I'm gonna miss Micah, but we got to.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Move on and I'm fine with that. Thank you for
the phone call. I'm fine with it. We didn't need
all of this production. We didn't need it where it's
a big Broadway show. Here, we didn't need it. You
could have done something and done something earlier, been proactive,
and then maybe you're in a better situation, maybe you
get a better trade package here, maybe you actually sign him,

(36:02):
because Jerry did want to sign him.

Speaker 19 (36:05):
Yes, Todd, I was just listening to your I thought
he was way out of line there with you were
trying to say something complimentary. He got all out of
whack with the cowboys and Jerry Jones.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Yeah, I'm not. I'm just critiquing this. I'm not going
out of my way because and you know, Stephen A.
Smith is the one, you know he has fun with
all of this, and you know, making fun of the
cowboys I'm just telling you, you know, as I see it.
If they're great, it's great content. If they're not, it's
great content. And that's all I care about. Jordan and Wisconsin. Hi, Jordan,

(36:37):
what's on your mind?

Speaker 6 (36:40):
Abp and a six two and a hard two thirty?
As all of us here in Wisconsin are jack for
this trade, we could be could be more happier with
what we got. I was wondering if one to pie
on the.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Face bet, what's the bet?

Speaker 6 (37:01):
Packers are going to be your Super Bowl champions?

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Anybody won a piece of Jordan in Wisconsin. He's got
the Packers winning the Super Bowl? Anybody? Oh, Dylan, Yeah, sure,
I think they'll have a good run. But I don't
think they're winning. May the great story. Like once again,
I don't root for or against. I root for a
good story, whatever that story is. And speaking of which,

(37:26):
Seaton O'Connor is in Columbus for the Ohio State Texas game,
and nobody sets the stage to really we're gonna be
able to visualize this. He's going to join us over
the phone. He'll create the scene seating of what it's like.
So I feel like I'm right there with you.

Speaker 9 (37:43):
Yeah, I'm gonna paint the picture as we're saying.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Radio, right, yeah, I'm gonna close my eyes.

Speaker 9 (37:48):
Okay, yeah, Well, right now, I'm right outside of the stadium.
There's a lot of setup going on. You got game
day right over here, Big noon kickoff is just behind us.
Fox Sports Radio is get set up. There's a lot
of atmosphere. Should I say. A dude just went by
this crazy car that had like Ohio state written all

(38:08):
over it, blasted music. It's fun, it's fun. It's starting
to ramp up. This a little quiet this.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Morning, but now it's really getting going. Okay, weather wise.

Speaker 9 (38:18):
Overcast, but it's a marine layer, so that's going to
burn off.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
And off the lake, yeah, off off the lake. Lake.

Speaker 10 (38:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (38:28):
Yeah, No, it's nice, it's gorgeous. It's it's beautiful tomorrow
the weather is supposed to be spectacular.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Tailgate Tour seatings there in Columbus. Fox Sports Radio Tailgate Tour.

find you there in Columbus.

Speaker 9 (38:44):
Yeah, you go to the tailgate tour is all over
social media.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
You could check that out.

Speaker 9 (38:50):
But we're right outside of the stadium. You can't miss us.
It's a huge tailgate right by like a river watch tower. Paul,
you'll be happy to know that where I got coffee
this morning, they had already changed their menu over to
all fall items.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Oh I lovely.

Speaker 9 (39:05):
I thought of you right away.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (39:07):
I was like they they get it. This place get
it's get it great.

Speaker 7 (39:09):
Perfect.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Yeah, man, have fun. Good to talk to you, and
we look forward to seeing you next week.

Speaker 9 (39:16):
Yeah, all right, fellas, see you guys.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
That's a seat. No O'Connor, he's on the road, be
there representing us, gonna be crazy to our own this
day and sports history.

Speaker 17 (39:26):
Pol I just.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
Got one for you. Let me give you Hank Aaron
first baseball I know you love Hank Aaron. Nineteen seventy one.
Hank Aaron became the first baseball player in the NL
due one hundred and more runs in each of his
first eleven seasons.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Nineteen seventy four, Moses Bologne, out of high school, signs
with Utah the Utah Stars, first player to jump to
the pros directly out of high school. Became a Hall
of Famer. All right, let's go around the room. What
we learned first? Of all round of applause for Dylan.
Ooh nice he done at brisket is rate sixteen hours

(40:02):
on the trigger and the chef IQ those meat thermometers
were great. They pretty much make it fool proof that
you can't really screw things up. It's Dylan proof, I think,
because is what it is, but it is Dylan, Thank
you very much, Dan Todd, would you learn today?

Speaker 19 (40:20):
David and Ohio says the Cowboys are America's team. If
that's a retirement home, living on past glory.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Out, Dylan, what did you learn today?

Speaker 4 (40:27):
According to Brady Quinn, Todd may also frequent NFLPA meetings
at certain places.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
Marvin, you gotta get up to get down, Paul.

Speaker 5 (40:36):
Vince Young didn't want the heisman.
