Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, thanks for listening to the best of Tabino and
Rich podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Be sure to catch us live every day from five to.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Seven pm the eastern two to four pacifics on Fox
Sports Radio. Find your local station for Gabino and Rich
at Fox Sports Radio dot com, or stream us live every.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Feeling gross going. I think everybody feels kind of gross
today with all the crappy news, the Charlie Kirk story,
the videos of the girl on the bus, and it's
just let's escape for.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
The world of sports. Shall we keep it life?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
That's it again? God all who's aside awful data. It's
not the way to handle things. My goodness, awful is right?
Feels gross right, like everything feels DeRos. So we'll do
our best to have fun. Rich and I wear our
emotions on our sleeve. Definitely a weird vibe in the
air today. We're going to do our best to do
the fun show we always do. But you know, really

(00:58):
horrible stories in the past few days. Can't ignore that. Well,
you're just scrolling on social media and it's hard to
avoid the Charlie Kirk's story, who was killed earlier today
the video.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Official hessy, are you serious?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
And the video I don't recommend you look at it.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
It's horrific.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
And then they released further video of the poor Ukrainian
girl that got stabbed on the bus. So it's like,
I feel like you did I say a buzz on
a train, Charlotte you uh you know you're scrolling to
try to find light stories about the Buffalo Mills and
the Yankees, and like every other scroll is like an
awful video. What I was gonna say is, well, first off, awful, awful,

(01:39):
and God bless everybody because I feel sad for humanity.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
That's why my heart hurts.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
And I'm serious, I'm like not an emotional guy when
it comes to being a sensitive guy. I guess I
could be angry and passionate. I'm an emotional dude like
Ryan Clark angry. No, not like that, but I kind
of tell you, man, these stories are hitting me and
I don't like them. I have a teenage daughter. I
just feel bad for the youth and how they view

(02:05):
life and the quality of life, and I just feel
bad that kids today have to grow up seeing this stuff.
And it's not the first time or the last unfortunately.
But political violence should never be a thing, regardless of
your views, and this should not be the way. And
the reason I bring that up is because I want
you to appreciate the things that bring us together, like

(02:27):
sports and another one for me music. Nothing better than
being at a concert, being at a ballgame and seeing
all those differences go away because we have a common
goal here and has to have fun, sing along, watch
our team win.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
And that's the beauty of what we do. This is
the escape.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
And I just want to honestly put the emphasis on well,
you know, prayers to the family and the horrible news.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
But.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Why sports is really so great and important in our
lives because we need that escape otherwise you just drown in.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
These stories are horrible.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
I don't forget really quick, Rich, I was just gonna
mention tomorrow, September eleventh, exactly, and yeah, and think back
to how sports helped heal, dude, I totally sports brought
us back to normal.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
We were in Manhattan that day, and you know, I
was a New Yorker and in New Yorker at heart
still and Mike Piazza hitting that home run that was
it oddly meant more than you would ever imagine for
that city. No, it was our first step to normal
again or trying to get back to normal again. So
to not think that sports is part of the healing process,

(03:35):
and sports is part of the process that brings people together,
Like you said, music, sports commonalities like or when life
is tough period personally you hate that escape you need
sometimes and hopefully we can provide some of that. But
we can't lie and sit here and say like that
story today doesn't hurt our hearts and make us feel terrible.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
We feel horrible.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
You also think you think, like, all right, now, what's
the retaliation possibilities? And like, do we live in a
world where it's just going to be political differences have
people killing each other back and forth?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
It just I didn't even know that dude died.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
If you don't know what we're talking about, you're coming
home from work, you're not on social media. Charlie Kirk
very controversial, dude, very very popular. You know, he's the
guy that you'ld see always on TikTok or Instagram debating
college students was shot on a Utah campus today and
the video's horrific.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
I haven't seen it.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Don't look at it. I haven't seen the close up.
I saw those donar one and that was and that
was enough. I'm promising you do not. And again, like
I said in the last twenty four hours, the Ukrainian
girl on the on the train, that the fact that
they released more video and you're like, oh, oh no,
I don't want to see this.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
And it's sad to see the family photos of Kirk
on social media right.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Now, or it's his heartbreak visual that and Danny both stories,
while not related, they are just two reminders of like, oh,
what are we doing?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Where's let's let's not be that.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
And remember, you don't have to agree with the guy,
and if you do, that's fine, but you don't have
to agree with the guy. That's not how people handle things.
And kids have to people have to have a greater
respect for life. And again, I just feel sad for humanity,
like everything about that video, about everything that's happened in
the past forty eight hours, everything about that trained video,

(05:13):
like the scared look on that girl's face that's horrible,
the people there that really didn't do anything to help,
and just the apathy and just everything about that and
everything about today. I think we do need to talk
how it sensitized our people to not even try to
help that young girl or to do what they did
today to that poor young man. When you think about it,

(05:33):
let's say you don't like this guy or his views
or whatever, he's still a thirty three year old man,
thirty one, thirty one, oh my god, thirty one year old,
a three kids. You know, just the horrible story, man,
horrible horrible story. So my point again isn't to lean
into the misery. It's to just remind you again how
important sports and again I bring it to music rich,

(05:56):
how important those things are to bringing us back to
some fun and normal, to take our minds off of
that stuff. Yeah, so I'm good you brought it up,
because only because there is like an underlying vibe even
in the hallways here, an underlying weird vibe, like Yo,
today's a weird day, right, Like like as surreal video
that we've all been subject to a terrible unnecessary death.

(06:18):
Like I said, like it, Mike brings up a good
political differences, your smarts, differences, your music differences.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Imagine, like what we handle our differences that way? What
are we doing? Not the way?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
And it's not that things are worse. Maybe they are,
but things like this have always happened. It's just we're
exposed to it in a much different way. Yeah, you know,
a much different way, and that affects us all. This
is a much different way, you.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Know, Vietnam political differences.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Then.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It just we live in a world now where because
everyone's got a camera on them at all times, they
have a video camera at all moments.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, we see and hear every.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
The same way. We all consider sports the same way.
We know everything that's going on in the world of sports.
Now you see all these horrible things all the time.
It's a lot to take in. You said tomorrow being
the sad anniversary of nine to eleven. I've said to
you before that I'm almost i almost feel like it was,
thank God, a good thing that technology wasn't where it
was in one because imagine all the horrific stuff. It's

(07:16):
already horrific. Think of all the more horrific stuff you
would have seen had cameras been on phones in two
thousand and one. Had you been able to say if
every phone had a video camera and it just so, Hey,
just keeping it real and we'll get into sports again.
This that is the escape, right, Yeah, I do want
to talk about that. I do want to talk about
the Buffalo Bills and the myths. Family's looking like little

(07:38):
leaguers at time.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Into it. Let's get into it. Where do you want
to start.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Fans and fan etiquette kind of ties in, right, because
people are out of control? It does, Yeah, it ties in.
It's like passion levels are a little off. Something's a
little off. Karen ball Snatcher was the big store Karen
ball Snatcher. You know, that's more of a fun story
when you think about it. I know, let's go back
to that plat Karen Ballsnatch, the Texans fan who got
her face beat in, that's the one that's just horrific too. Honestly,

(08:07):
it ties in because I'm like, what is going on?
People need to chill. There's something called fan etiquette. I
think we all need to practice that, or just etiquette
in life period. How about some class, I'm the East
Coast rich class. I've seen some New York Boston or
New York Philly battles with fans where it's like.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yo, you're a bunch of grown ups. What are you
fighting and throwing punches?

Speaker 1 (08:30):
But you know, Danny I've seen it equally bad out
here with Giants and Dodgers fans and Niners fans and
Raiders fans, like, you know, people got.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
To cowboys fans, We'll.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Have to control themselves.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I think that is that less than one of the day,
Like let's all get a freaking grip and control of ourselves.
People are on edge. I guess, I don't know, And
maybe this all ties together well.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
In California, we have a lot of different fan bases
and passions run high at all the games.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
So we call this, uh, the first little segment of
the day. Like, fans, what are we doing? Like like three,
I think you need to work out the title of
this discussion. I think so too, But fans, what are
we doing? In parentheses?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
What are we doing? What are we doing? What are
we doing? What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (09:14):
It's this terrible, terrible story between the Texans and the Rams,
and it's the fans. It's the fans, and you see
them get into a brawl. It's gone viral. It's wild
to see. And what's really gross about it? I thought
we were all told to like not like get into
it with women in this way. You don't put your
hands on a woman ever, but especially at a football

(09:36):
game where people are filming and watching it. We've seen
kids are there and everything.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Often now the past few years at sporting events.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
What's going on with that? Because let's just say it
happened to you, if it happened to me. Let's say
a woman steps up to me, she doesn't like my face.
Let's say I was just cheering for the opposing team.
You remove your filth from the situation. Pull up Polly
Walnuts and what I mean by that, I don't whack her.
I put my hands on like, hey, okay, imagine Paulie
Walnuts or Silvo Silvio Silvia.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
What's the name spot Sylvia Silvia?

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Hey, who put your hands up and be like, hey, sorry,
remove yourself, Hey, back off.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
It's not worth it. It's not worth it.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Right, But if she winds up missing next week, you
don't know anything about it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Yeah, that's that's what PAULI wants to do. I just
throw my hands up, Hey, sorry, walk away. In this clip,
you see Rams fans beating on a woman, and vice versa.
You see a Texans fan a woman with a bloody nose.
And I've watched his clip back and forth. I'm like,
is that because a dude hit her in the face.
Dudes are throwing punches. It's like that needs to stop.

(10:42):
A couple of weeks ago in a preseason game, remember
there were two guys squared up and a guy got
his pants pulled down.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
He was getting beat on, like oh yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
And not only that, Rich, it's one of those like
upper tier sort of brawls where it looks like anyone
could anyone to pull over, like Reggie Jackson a naked gun,
the fat woman and naked gun, the fello nfella on
the Yeah, exactly. We don't mean that housing flying. It
looks like they could go falling off the edge of the.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Top of the ball there at so far you don't
want to be fighting up there, you know how it
is that drop me.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
That's our first lesson. If you get into a tussle
at a stadium, get away from the uh ledge. That
looks horrific to me. So they're brawling there, and I
can't sound like a hypocrite. I love watching a good fight,
you know, it's like watching a train wreck, like you
want to watch.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
But it doesn't mean, like I think that these are
not people.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Not a fight with a woman involved with men.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
But yeah, it's horrific. You guys have to see what
we're talking about here. Danny, you're the first person who
sent me this, though I don't know how I missed it.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, there's new angles of it that came out today,
which is why it's back all over social media.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Another another fan story, and Cavino, you have been guilty
of this at times.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Can't say I have it either. But Josh Allen.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Calling out the Buffalo Bill's fan base saying like, hey, guys,
have a little more faith. We're down in a game,
so fans are fighting, fans are not sticking by their team.
And then Matt Lafour getting med saying, hey, Packers fans,
why are you selling your tickets to other.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Fans season ticket holders? What's up?

Speaker 3 (12:13):
And as a Raiders fan, this has been going on
obviously in Las Vegas since they opened Allegiance because fans
can make their money back by selling a couple of
key games, and when you have a lot of Lions
fans willing to pay top dollars for those seats, this
is what happens.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Okay, So it's a bigger conversation based on the terrible
news and I just saw Richie right. TMZ confirmed that
Charlie Kirk passed away at thirty one. We need to
be better overall, okay, everybody both signs regardless, we need
to be better in sports. There's also fan etiquette. Yeah,
where are we slipping in sports? The brawl's got to

(12:52):
stop punching a woman. This woman's face is it looks
like she's in a UFC fight and she just got
kicked in the face.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
She's wearing a JJ watchers.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
He even responded on Twitter and he's like, yo, what's
going on here again? There's right, Danny G's right. New
angles of the Wild Brawl have been released. Texans Rams
fans going crazy. That needs to stop. We need to
put the phones down. That's part of the problem, right,
put the phones down and stop this where your first
instinct is to, hey, let me get this and put

(13:23):
it on the gram.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
This will be great for my IG story.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
I know it's fun to get lots of likes, but
we really need to put it down, like, hey, maybe
we should break this up.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
So we just said a good O, good name for
this conversation be what are we doing fans? I mean,
what are we doing. What are we doing? What are
we doing? What are you doing?

Speaker 5 (13:41):
So?

Speaker 1 (13:41):
And then like I said, like you said, Dan Rich
fan etiquette, leaving early because your team is down.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Josh Allen's absolutely right. Don't leave early. Have some faith
in the team. It's not over. You don't punch anyone
in the face, don't leave early.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
And don't sell you and don't sell your tickets to
the opposing team.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
In a rivalry.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
Yeah, you know what's best to just I know this
might be tough for people on a budget, like give
the tickets away, give them away so the average ticket price. Yeah,
I know, I know, but you know, mortgage no good.
It feels to make a little kids while the streams
come true. But kid, what are you doing?

Speaker 6 (14:18):
I'm not I'm not Willy Wonkom, We're we don't have
the right to sell your tickets. You don't have the
right to fight somebody and cause them bodily harm.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Speaking of Willy Walker, did you see that meme that
uh ball snatching Karen took?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Will I've got Charlie's ticket.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
There's a meme where she's stealing a frisbee from air bud.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
I sorry that there's memes I love it. You know
what we need? You know what we need Karen ball
Snatcher right now?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Perhaps parent ball Statcher brought levity where yeah, she's a
common enemy that we all could get behind.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Or it's mine Karen ball Snatch.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
So based on well, again, overall we need to be
better as people. Where do we need to be better
as fans? Leaving early? Bunching a woman in the face.
How about don't punch anybody at the game?

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Rich has no problem leaving early.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, you know what, I'm guilty of that, but I'm
gonna be get that one. You might not agree with
richel I got one that you no, no, no, I got
I got no I got Hey you I also have one.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Okay, great, you want to know what irks me? Let
me start. What are we doing here? What are we
doing here? What are we doing here? It's the name
of the conversation label that.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
This happens at restaurants where they're watching sports.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
This puts that on the atube page, across the page,
what are we doing here?

Speaker 1 (15:30):
This happens at the game. And it only was brought
to my attention when I became a dad. I have
a teenage daughter now, but when she was really little.
I noticed this to be bothersome to me as a
young dad. It's when people are letting the booze flow,
and that's part of it. And I get it. And

(15:51):
they got their beer helmet on, they're all excited to
be at the game, but they're just dropping f bombs
in vulgarity, like like they're sailors, just like I get it.
You're the bros, you're chest bumping, you're here having fun.
But there are families around. So I'm not saying don't
have fun. I'm not even not even saying don't be
belligerent and like and brow it up, but like you

(16:11):
gotta sound like a like a like a trash bag.
It's around a family friendly at this dude, honestly and rich,
this is something we preach. I don't behave that way,
so I don't expect other grown people to be behaving
that way, especially around kids and families.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
So that's the problem. I got.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Let's be better, especially when there's kids around. If there's
no kids around, and you know this, and your section
is like, yeah, we're just going crazy, adult section or
something thing, go go all out.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Are we coming up with how to be better fan
rules because I got I thought of so many more.
I mean, welcome to the show. Let's say I'm here,
I'm here trying to figure out how to better. What
are we doing here? Hey, Fox Sports Radio Nation, thanks
for getting through this day with us, Covino and Rich.
We saw that woman in the JJ wat jersey. Dude,
it's a bloody face. Like I don't want to sound

(17:02):
like a cornball, but if that was your kid or
your sister, you don't mean like, oh my god, a
bloody face. That's horrific.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
It looked like she was in a major ball because
she was at a sporting event. Why because they disagreed
on a third down player. They lame old guys throwing
punches at women.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Need better.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
So on a day where I think, and I think
we all agree, regardless of political side, we should all
be better.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, really terrible day.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
How are we better or how could we be better
and improve our etiquette at a sporting event? We talked
about Josh Allen towing fans have a little faith, don't
leave so early. Matt Lafleur encouraging packers fans, don't sell
your tickets. I threw a watch your mouth. I threw
a watch your mouth out posing fans. They watch your mouth,
don't you don't. There's kids around men, don't have too
much of a putty mouth. There's kids next to you.

(17:58):
I got one, said you had the best one. Yeah,
I think it will be trying to like downplay it now.
It's the best, the best one, and it's I can
never understand negativity from your own fan base. If you
have a player that's struggling, booing them does no good
right now? For instance, Yeah, it's counterproductive, right, I'm a
Mets fan. The Mets are you know, clinging on by

(18:22):
a string today? Wait, you used to boo Conforto though, yeah,
you call them Confardo.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
But I would never go I would never go there
and be like boo. I would just come on, let's go,
come on, buddy.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
Aren't there certain players on your own team, though, have
punchable faces and you just wish they were off the squad.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
But you talking about Devin Williams, because That's what I'm
thinking about, because I listen. Of course, there's times where
I'm like, there, card, but I'm up boo booing a
guy on my team, especially when you're in the middle
of a wild card race, a panet race like Cavino.
How counterproductive When the Mets start a homestand in a
day or so, well, you know when they're fine, when

(18:59):
they're cleaning to a one or two game lead over
the Giants. Would you think it's productive to boo?

Speaker 2 (19:04):
It's not.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
You're eliminating you're a home field advantage if your neimo,
being a city field should be a sense of comfort.
If you're Anthony Volpi and you're horrible, well he's doing
all right. You see his girlfriend? Oh well, yeah, he's
doing okay.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
There.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I don't feel that bad for him, but I heard
people saying they felt bad for Vulpy. I just saw
a picture in the New York Post where it's like
Vulpy with his model girlfriend at an event. Yeah, smoke
can so yeah, I'm not feeling bad for him personally.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
But if your.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Booed everywhere else, you want to at least know that
you're not going to get booed at home, so you're
taking away that home field advantage.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
It's very counter productive.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
I think I don't think you need to cheer him
on as he stinks it up, but booing him doesn't help.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Don't p your own team ioa. Sam, you said you
had a doozy.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
If you wager own sports and you lose your bet
and you're very mad about it, don't get on social
med or find this person in real life and harass
them because you didn't win your bet because they didn't
perform a certain way. Those people are pathetic losers.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Don't hate on Chris Paul because he didn't hit your
assist total for the day on your you know prop bet.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
By the way, I think Sam's better than yours. Don't
get out of here. Yeah, Sam, that's.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
A new agent you're gonna harass he can hit the
over thirty. Yeah, you're the biggest loser if you're taking
your stupid gambling problems out on that guy yelling at
sakuon Barkley because he stopped at the one yard line.

Speaker 6 (20:30):
He's at an autograph signing at the mall and you
decide to show up and be like, oh, a thousand
dollars because you didn't get two more yards during that game,
And it's like, dude, sorry, that's gambling for you.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
I'm with you, man, that's pathetic. So how could we
be better?

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Fans? You like that one bit of the month.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
They're all actually, they're all really good, and I think
we're sometimes guilty of some of those things. But it's
a reminder that we could all be a little better
ass fans based on some of the stories that we've
seen in the past few days.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Now, go to a game and I don't I act
like an adult. Don't don't be punching strangers so embarrassing.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
It is embarrassing. And when you see this woman bleeding
all over the place, you're like, what, like you said.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Rich, what is going on?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
And you know, I'm all for like good back and
forth rivalry and yelling and cheering, but legitimately taunting someone
and getting in their face because they can you just
give somebody a Reggie a fan of another team, like
imagine a rod. This is my worst case scenario because
I've seen these people get their ass kicked, and I
get it, but it's like, no one should get their

(21:28):
ass kicked. I've seen people go into an opposing stadium. Right,
Let's say a Giants fan goes to Dodger Stadium. The
Giants are winning, so he's just pointing around taunting everyone.
He's a lone wolf. He's the Giant fan. He's taunting everyone.
I've seen this at City Field. I'm like, you know this,
Philly fans, what are they doing. They're gonna get their
ass kicked. They're taunting all these Mets fans.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
What are you doing? It's just acid on behavior, Dan Bayer.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
It was a recent clip from a Michigan State football game.
It may have been from this past weekend, but a
kid stood up in the stands and had a Michigan
shirt on and was taunting the Michigan State fans. I
saw that, and then two police officers came up and said,
like sit down, like and and then you know, all
the fans like yeah, how it was. But like in

(22:12):
a way like can the kid wear the shirt?

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Sure?

Speaker 7 (22:15):
Should he be taunting and trying to be that to
other fans because that could cause other things. Yeah, Like
I actually kind of feel like security in a way,
like you could cheer for your team, and obviously Michigan
wasn't even playing in the game, but for them to
like step in. Danny, you saw the clip too, Like
I like, I was like, oh, I hate Michigan, so
I'm probably biased, but I'm like, yeah, go good job job.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Yeah, you know it's interesting. Are you going undercover? Dan Byer?
Did you see what your Seahawks are doing?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah, this is done by other teams as well. Seahawks.
The correct me if I'm wrong.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
They're they're having law enforcement or security go undercover wearing
jerseys of the opposing team to try to it's police officers, oh,
police officers, to try to suss out the the you know,
the jerks in the crowd.

Speaker 7 (22:59):
Essentially, I saw that, and there would have to be
a lot of cops because there are a lot of
forty nine er fans getting under the Seahawks. Yeah, fans
skin used to be a home field advantage. There were
a lot of Niner fans there on Sunday, Yeah, for
that game.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
So Fox Sports Radio Nation, we turn it over to
you next eight seven, seven ninety nine. Fox. Are there
other ways we could be better fans? Things that get
under your skin when it comes to sports mistakes you
have made and see other people make him at the
game or just when they come over. Yeah, you know,
like not throwing in twenty bucks for a pay per view?

(23:33):
What do you think this is? What do you think
it's free?

Speaker 2 (23:36):
It's free?

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Man, cheapskate, Hey, let's go to dB for an update.
And speaking of my niners, yeah, buyer. Is there an
updated on Brock?

Speaker 7 (23:43):
There is? There is Kyle Shanahan using this term long shot.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
No, no, see, I didn't hear that.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
I was.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
I was listening to Fox Sports Radio earlier and I
heard it wasn't a long shot.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Kyle Shanahan has said it's a long shot. Oh a
lunk shot.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Okay, lounk shot. No, Sorry, yeah, dude, I needed that.
Thank you done. Gottlieb taking it a different way.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Hey you, Doug. I was gonna say if we all have.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
Head does but I don't know if we have I'm
not sure if we have one shots like.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Me and perty have the same issue. It's time for
our Tyreq play of the day. There was a walk
off in Toronto. Kimberl's pitch hit on the ground right side,
timing stop walker.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
This front of the plate is light and the Blue
Jays whining.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Tyler hie him in the hero four three in favor
of the Blue Jays, who went into the nine down
by a pair. They somehow, some way come out with the.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Word yeah, good for Tyler heine Man.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Well, the Yankees are now three games behind those Toronto
Blue Jays. That was courtesy of the Blue Jay's radio network.
They had a walk off. We to do hey, tyre
play the day. For over forty years, Tyraq has been
helping customers find the right tires for how, what and
where they drive, ship fast and free back by, free
road hazard protection, convenient installation options like my mobile tyre

(25:11):
installation tiraq dot com Way tire buying should be clearly
I'm a Yankees fan, Steve Cavino, Rich Davis Metz fan,
and I know you wanted to talk baseball real quick,
but can I just say something too, Yep. As the
Yankees get ready to take on the Tigers, did you see.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
That miserable lost they had yesterday?

Speaker 1 (25:28):
Well, I Alwa was happy about it because every day
the Yankees win, I owe you more money. I know,
but I've never I've been watching baseball for over forty years.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
It's my favorite sport.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
I've never seen a major league team with this much
potential play so poorly. It's like a liter league team
when they get frazzled and they crumble, you know, and
like it just gets in their head and all of
a sudden, the litle league team loses, You're like, ah,
because they're little and they're frazzled and they can't deal
with the pressure. It's like one thing happens with the

(26:01):
Yankees and they fall apart like a bunch of little babies.
I've never seen big leaguers play so bad, capable of
so many mental errors.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
I've never seen it.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Nine runs were scored before your two pitchers finally, dude,
one of your two bullpen guys gotten out. So that
hasn't happened since two thousand and three.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
It's just wow. Stuff like that all the time. It's unbelievable,
and your mets are no better?

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (26:27):
It's just man.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
But let me ask you this, though I'm now I'm
in total rationalization mode. I'm rationalizing with the best of them.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Is there a part of you.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
That feels like when your team is within a game
or so, or only up a game or so that
final two weeks of the baseball season two and a
half weeks, do you like to coast into the playoffs?
Or is there something to be said about scoreboard watching
for the last two and final weeks of the season,
Like right now it makes you feel alive? Like right now,

(26:58):
I feel alive and excited watching watch it the giant
weird way to be though, I know what you mean,
Like anytime there's like miserable things going on, you feel alive.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
But that's not a good thing.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Yeah, Like I'm watching this Giants Diamondbacks game with invested
interest because the Giants are two games behind the Mets,
so that the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Are helping me.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
It's a I like to relax. Oh, I like that franticness. Nah,
it's frantic like metallic A frantic isn't there sort of
fun like them? By you're going into the final going
into the final week or so of the NFL season,
where you like, my team could win, make a wild
card if I win, but the Packers lose.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Like I like that.

Speaker 7 (27:32):
I was just going to compare it to fantasy football,
like when you win by fifty points, Okay, it's fun,
but it's real fun when you're down eight on Monday
night and your guy catches a touchdown pass and you
end up winning. Yes, Like that's the reason that why
you play. So to me, that's the drama a little.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Bit, if you know what I argue all the time,
Like he'll watch a Yankees game if it's nine to one,
and I'm like, nah, that's the day I check out,
I go read my kids and book or something like that.
I want it to be too two bottom of the eighth, Like,
come on, let's go put something to I like the drama.
You like the ease, so to me like my metfan
friends drama show like that for Triple G. Yeah, they're
having heart attacks and I'm like, guys, we're up two

(28:10):
games with seventeen games to go.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I'm not quite sure it gets more exciting. So I
speak up.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Behalf of the You know, you might say the crazy
fan who says this, you're trying to find a silver
lining of your team stinking.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
I mean, yeah, I guess you're probably right there.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
But there is a part of me that is sort
of excited to wake up every day and not just
my game. Like I'm watching the Diamondbacks versus the Giants,
I'm watching the Reds Padres, Like all these games mean
so much now, just makes it great for baseball. And hey,
like I said, less than twenty games, let's go Mets more.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Next, let me ask.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
You this, have you ever wanted to try an Olympic
and Paralympic sport? Try fencing fast, safe, easy to start.
Find a beginner class near you at USA Fencing dot org,
slash try you. I feel like every TV show I
watched growing up, someone was trying it out, and I
always felt like I wanted to right then. You always

(29:07):
see like some TV character like Schroder or something.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Sam.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
We had free fencing lessons offered at Iowa's a University
of iowas Fieldhouse, and I'd go Wednesday nights for a
couple of years.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Yeah, it was cool. Are you saying that you have skills?
It's been a while. Could he enter you in a
contest of hu guard Fencing Experts? Dope though, And remember guys,
you could stream the show wherever, whenever, Shakira style whatever, wherever.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Do but with a lightsaber on the iHeart Radio app.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
You can stream us wherever you go with the iHeart
Radio app, and you could preset it just like the
radio Make Us number one twenty four to seven were
available on the iHeartRadio app. Covino and Rich and stick
around because we've got prizes to give away this hour
Mike's Wednesday Words of Wisdom in just a few minutes,
and of course midweek major spots got the biggest stories
in sports and pop culture, but the weakest, most miserable

(30:02):
story of the day is Charlie Kirk. If you just
got out of work or you missed it somehow, he
did pass away that he was shot on a Utah campus.
And it's just a really sad story, man. And I'm wondering, now,
is it gonna unite us or divide us? I'm really wondering,
what interesting question? Yeah, I'm really wondering. And look, I'll
focus on the positive. The one thing that does unite

(30:24):
us is sports. So that's why this is fun to
talk about. Fun to be here, football, baseball, fencing, you know,
take our mind off of that there huh fence? Yeah,
I mean now that I know that.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Are you paying that behind hot dog eating?

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Now?

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Or in front of hot dog eating? Is it the
fourth or fifth majors?

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Te?

Speaker 2 (30:46):
Did anyone know that Sam was the guy? I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
No, I found that you could get this. Are you
surprised you ever find out a skill about someone? This
is interesting And you know what, I'm gonna save it
for a second because.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
This ties sooner Rich.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
It reminds me of when Kramer was taking karate lessons.
But he was fighting his little kids. That's I was saying.
Sam was fighting little I'll tell you it was against
second gradest. I was a little kid facing adults. You know,
I have a thought and it has to do with
a like almost like Niche specialized sports. But you know what,
Let's try to get a winner from Mike's words of wisdom,
and then I will give you my thought because it's interesting.

(31:22):
You're right, you would never thought I was Sam was
a fencer, but I have an angle. So hang time,
but let's do this Mike's words of wisdom.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
It's time for the guy that runs this place.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
Just for clarification, guys, Big Mike does not run this place.
He is not in charge of everything. He has no
power over really anybody here. He does not run this place.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
It's Big Mike's words of wisdom on a Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
You are what you do, not what you promise you'll do.
Character is defined by deeds, not words.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
How's a long way, I'll say, that's what she said.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Want to play it one more time? No? Okay, for
the name of the game is to repeat a verbatim,
but we usually do play it twice though. If it's
if it's longer, come on, big Mike.

Speaker 8 (32:21):
You are what you do, not what you promise you'll do.
Character is defined by deeds, not words.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
That's why we bring Mike to the show. It's not
fair that only we were exposed to his wisdom all
the time. You wanted to share that with you. Guys,
make the world a better place. Humanity needs help. Eight seven, seven,
nine to nine on Fox. If you could repeat those
words verbatim, you are just words are like golden words

(32:53):
for Mic. These are words of wisdom. You got a
Fox Sports Radio could be done Rich, and they're football
just in time for Fools Ball season. As we enter
week two in a day, can you believe that we
got the Charlie Sheen documentary tonight winning?

Speaker 3 (33:06):
I didn't stop fibbing Rich. They're not even ordered yet,
but we'll give you an io you and no, but
we picked out just the right football. It's gonna be
a sweet one.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
For those of you who've been with us for a minute.
We had Bribery Balls one of our first prizes. These
footballs are different, so if you won in the past,
you're going to get a different football, which is kind
of cool. So We're gonna give away prizes if you
could rep repeat that word for weird. See word for word.
So eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. While we

(33:35):
get your phone calls, let's talk about yo, Chris Boswell
of the Pittsburgh Steel And this ties into I was
Sam letting you know that he fenced. I just I
just oddly have two stories where well, actually, when you
don't know people when they grow up, when you meet

(33:55):
them as an adult coworkers, parents at the school, you know,
you end up meeting people you have no clue about
their freaking childhood. I recently found out one of the
dads who I see at school he did like gymnastics
in college. And I saw a picture of him like
you know when you when you're like pushing yourself up
on two rings, like oh yeah, and I'm like, wait,
that's you. He was showing bulge and in like bulg

(34:18):
just shorts.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
And I have a friend that's like, yeah, when I
used to dive in high school, Like dive in high school,
what do you mean? She's like yeah, Like I like
Jack Coustas Like she's she told me she used to
be able to do like two flips into a dive.
I'm like, oh, like Thornton Mellon, Oh are you kidding me?
Like Greg luganis. And it got me thinking about like
niche sports and and things you would never.

Speaker 6 (34:40):
Think Olympic sports. You sounds like you're describing Olympics. Yeah,
it's things that you would never think someone you know did.
Like I got a buddy that played water polo in college.
I'm like, wait, you're treading water that whole time. Did
not wife used to throw a shot put rich?

Speaker 2 (34:51):
She did not?

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Yes she did, but uh no, I did the pole
vault and I got my junk stuf remember that?

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Oh wait that was that was not me me.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
You know, it's kind of cool because you know what
it is in a weird ways of cornering the market,
because not everyone's going for that. I have the best story.
You thought you had the best story. I have the
best story ever, I think. And again, we're gonna tell
you about Chris Boswell, kicker of the Steelers, in a minute,
but I think the best story was actually told to
us by a guy named Ariel Helwani. He was on

(35:22):
our show and I said, Ariel, how'd you get like
so locked into the fight world? I'm a big fight fan,
but how'd you get so locked and connected to UFC
and everything like that? And Ariel said to us, you know, really,
I'm a baseball guy and I always want to be
a baseball broadcaster. I believe he was an Expos fan,
like a Montreal guy, right, And he was like, you know.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
A huge baseball fan, also a Syracuse graduate.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
And I saw an opportunity to be the only guy
that cared about mixed martial arts in this way, I
saw an opportunity to be the voice of mixed martial
arts in UFC because no one else was doing.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
He ingratiated himself to that fan base.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
So he said, all right, I always love baseball, but
there's more opportunity if I take a chance on being
that guy and hoping that this sport blows up, and
as it blows up, my career will also advance. And
he took that chance, took the road less traveled. Yeah,
and that's made all the difference. I'm sure there's someone
that said, let me attach myself to the WNBA, or

(36:26):
someone that said, you know what banana ball, so that
of bananas, maybe I'll be like the main correspondent, like
there's you know, when you take a chance on something
niche or niche, it will sometimes pay off. And I
think Arieljlani is a great example. Yeah, he took a
gamble on UFC becoming what it is today, and you know,

(36:46):
took that ride with Dana White and mixed martial arts.
As the sport grew, he became more valuable as a broadcaster.
But he saw the opportunities also having that wherewithal and
that force that John foresite to make that move and
make that gamble and believe in in yourself. I'm a

(37:08):
I'm a believer in looking for those little opportunities right
because the other opportunities are oversaturated.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
That's the point.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Yeah, Like you know what, it's sort of it's uh,
it's sort of the theory of like not everyone could
be the quarterback. And the Boswell story is interesting, you know,
the the assassin who just kicked a sixty yard field
goal to beat the Jets, the guy that was insane,
the guy who, uh, Mike Tomlin's like he's cold blood. Honestly,
Aaron Rodgers owes him like an edible arrangement of Stak dinner.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
I was gonna steak dinner. Yeah, like something like seriously.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
Think He's like, listen, man, you helped me win the
first game against my former team Steak Dinner on Aaron
Rodgers sixty.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yard field goal.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
And the story Jenny Danny g hit us up with
was when he was in high school, they went around
the locker room and said, what do you want to be?

Speaker 2 (37:55):
What position are you trying out for? What's your name? Position?

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Yeah, what's your thing? And he said, like Chris Buwswill,
I want to be the place kicker. And everybody laughed
at him and the coach and everyone's like, that's it.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
You know.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
I kind of relate because when I was a little
kid and all the other kids stood up and you're like,
I want to be a fireman, I want to be
a policeman. I stood up proudly and said I want
to be an ass man, and everybody laughed and.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Every and everybody laughed. But I'm the greatest man.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
I am an ass no no no, and everyone laughed,
but I meant it, and look at me now, So
think about that. He's like, yo, I am Chris Boswell
and I want to be a kicker. And it was
a kicker, what a lame o? You want to have
one stupid face mask bar you loser. Reggie rob me
and they all laughed at him. But when you think

(38:45):
about it, he had his his career set and mindset
on something that people don't normally like gravitate. Not an
easier path, but just a more unique path. But I
think that makes all the difference. Like we said before,
I was like quoted Robert Frost, but you wouldn't know
that because you're a cave boy.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Last book I read was Where the Wild Things Are. Yeah.
I think about.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
This a lot when I coach kids, right because I
coach my daughter's softball hate you. I coach my son's
little Shetland t ball team, and I do see some
of the kids gravitating towards like, hey, coach, can I
try catching?

Speaker 2 (39:23):
And I'm like, you know, at.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
That age, if you're the kid that's brave enough to
put on the gear and catch, you might find yourself
on the all star team. You might find yourself to
be the kid that everyone looks to as time goes
on and everyone gets older.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
It's like a specialty position.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Yeah, you could very well be the kid moving forward
that when everyone else is fighting over like I want
to be short stop, I want to pitch, I want
to and you might just be world catch.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Not just in sports.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
We live in a place where a niche is the mainstream,
meaning if you really want to make an impact in broadcasting,
in podcasting, in life, being mainstream isn't.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Gonna be it. Good luck there.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
It's finding the niche that's your path to success nowadays,
in our world and in and in sports, I think
you have a better chance of saying early on, I
want to be a catcher and then making it because
there's less options with catchers. Yeah, lefty catchers, guys like

(40:25):
Cal Rawley, I'm let's switch hitting catchers. There's so few
and far between. You also need a passion for sport.
But I did find the list recently, and I'm sure
I'm not the first person that gave this list a.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
Look and said, huh.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
It was what sports are the easiest to get full
ride scholarships for? And it's like, you know, like women's
field hockey are certain sports. So you want to look
at your kids and be like, hey, kiddo, how do
you feel about this one? Because there are paths you
could take that have some good opportunities, and to know
that Boswell was a guy early on that He's like, no,

(41:01):
I'm not trying to I'm not faking the funk. I'm
not a place, I'm not a quarterback, I'm not a
running back. I'm not trying to be a wide receiver.
I'm kicking please. Yeah, And it led to a great
moment this past weekend and a really cool story. No
one else wanted to do that. So there's so many
ways to look at this. Is it positions that people
just don't respect, but yet are still important. And when

(41:24):
I say don't respect, I mean because you really don't
want to play them. When you're a kid, did you
really want to be a catcher? Hell no, Yeah, you
want to be a long snapper. But if you focus
on that specialty, you have a greater chance of making it.
It's a good way to solidify a position in life,
a position at your office. You got to be able
or be willing to take on those things that not

(41:45):
everybody wants to do to solidify your position. It's a
great way to separate yourself. And props to Boswell.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
For I keep wanting to see Bosworth.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Props to Chris Boswell for recognizing that at a really
early age. Like I said, Rich, if you were set
out to do a podcast right now and you're like, well,
what's your podcast about? And you said, you know everything, guys, stuff,
sports and women, good luck. But if you said, yeah,
I'm gonna specialize in a fish sticks, you have a
greater chance of making a success out of that niche subject.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
I mean it has to be vague and main and
quote unquote mainstream.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
I mean luckily, I guess for us that we were
sort of a grandfather grandfathered into, like, hey, we do
just a show. But if you were starting from scratch now,
if some young intern or producer was like, you have,
what do you think you should do in today's world?
Like I would almost be like, dude, do a podcast
only on the La Kinks? Do do a podcast only
about hot dog gating. I don't know anyone that's doing

(42:42):
one exactly. It has to be that to make it
and then you find your audience there. Yeah, you have
to if you want to make it in sports man, Yeah,
being a kicker, being a catcher. Is there anything else
that stands out like that? Underrated scholarship potential? They're saying diving, swimming,
field hockey are very high in the list, and also

(43:02):
more obscure track and field stuff like shot put and
you know, javelin and stuff that you'd be like, really okay,
the field part of track, the field of the track
and field. Yes, So just just a reminder that not everyone,
as as they say in the band, not everyone's the
lead singer.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
You need a bass player. Not everyone's the quarterback, a
shortstop or pitcher. You need the place kicker, you need
a tambourine man. You need a tambourine man.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
And I also think that it's cool for Chris Boswell
to tell that story because he was laughed at, but
he was a hero this past weekend.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
So it's a great story for kids.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Hey, look at.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Him, laughed at him.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Look at Matt Praeter. He looked like a reject from
Fallout Boy. And he was the hero of Sunday night football. Yeah,
he was twenty some of year old guy haircut. All right,
let's Chris Boswell. Let's say hi to Ray in Jackson, Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Ray there, I am. Hey Ray.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
All right, so we're gonna play well, actually we're not
gonna play it. We're gonna queue you up here. Let
it simmer and if you can repeat Mike's words of wisdom.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
You get that. Their football all right.

Speaker 3 (44:01):
But yeah, we'll play the music, same music, make need.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
The words for me, make you sound smart here, well,
let me find my flute. Hold on a second, go ahead, Ray,
let it simmer. Okay, really nice cabino for all.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
If you do.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
Not what thank you?

Speaker 1 (44:30):
Oh Danny interrupted him. He was like, no, sorry, buddy, Hey,
always next week.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
He didn't.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
He didn't get it though.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
We've got to be verbade him. We started the race
at the same time, Ashton and Charlotte. You ready, Ashton? Hello, yeah,
you're ready to do this or what? Yes, I'm ready
take it away.

Speaker 9 (44:56):
You are what you do, uh, what you promise you'll do.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
Character is defined not words. Yeah, that's a winner, he got.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Hey, good job, buddy. After you just want yourself a
bribery ball, a new one, a new one updated nerve
football and as soon as we get our shipment, we'll
be sending him out.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
It's cooozies in there too.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
It's an io you Ashton.

Speaker 2 (45:26):
H those are ryo us.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
Congratulations Ashton, appreciate it, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (45:32):
Job, Ashton.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
I feel like he's wiser just for playing the game.
That's what I feel as well.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Will listen.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
We got spots words, That spot has the words, wisdom,
Spot has midwek major Coming up, we'll go with the
hottest stories in the world of sports and entertainment. Plus
Dan Buyer's got an update, maybe some NFL he raised
on some.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
Injuries before we move on there.

Speaker 1 (45:49):
Don't you feel like you were taking the path less
traveled by when you said I want to be a
radio tycoon and then look what happened. Everyone thinks they're
a broadcaster. Now it's the weirdest thing. It is an
interesting That's why I always felt like when I chose this,
and I did, I chose to be on a microphone,
and well, I thought I was gonna be playing music
for the rest of my life, right Metallica on K Rock.

(46:12):
I felt like, how unique I am to be that guy?
And now and now everyone does it and their socks
in their basement. Everyone's got fun so and everyone thinks
he deserves to be on a microphone. What was that
quote we saw that the girl that's gone viral. Oh
there's a girl. She's like I had a friend once
tell me, don't love your job, job your love? And

(46:35):
the podcast I was just like, oh, I love that.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
Oh I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (46:40):
Don't you hear me? Guys, don't love your job, job,
your love and the worst part about it any is
camnos right.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
The other person was like, oh my god, I love that.
That ridiculous. Not everyone deserves a microphone. I know where
two buffoons having fun, but not everyone deserves a microphone.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Now that this makes sense because over the weekend you
promoted the best of the week. Yes, and that was
the bubble caption over Rich's big head.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
Yeah, Rich is thinking. I was so confused. I'm like,
what does that mean? Oh?

Speaker 1 (47:11):
Yeah, I don't love your job, job, You're love It's
all about work life balance.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
Wait, I love that. Yeah, I know. Write it down, guys,
you know what love that and love Midweek Major.

Speaker 3 (47:21):
You should use that on your Fishtick podcast.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
You'll see it's gonna be big.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Danny g.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
And that was the time of the week where we
handed over to spot Exciting for Midweek Major.

Speaker 4 (47:36):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the
week where mid Week Major Major, I love that we
throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
fellas and it's like the kids.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Says we definitely major. See it our scoring Midweek major.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
Yeah, I feel like I should kind of go slow
because nine minutes might be too much for way too
much time.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
All right.

Speaker 3 (48:03):
Before we hand things over to the number one and
only hosts this segment, we roll the two Big Red
Love Dice the main studio.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
Way too much. Nine. I rolled the four rich roal
to nine.

Speaker 3 (48:11):
Ah the ritual wins. That means he gets the first take.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person from
Scotch Plains New Jersey Boy beside Judy Bloom Spotty Boy guys,
oh high Spot.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
That's accurate because I feel like his own brother is
more popular than him.

Speaker 1 (48:27):
Jay Rock was pretty popular and Scott playing he is,
No one really liked you in your hometown.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
You know, when I go back to my hometown at the.

Speaker 9 (48:34):
Charlie Brown Steakhouse, I really like know nothing about my hometown.

Speaker 1 (48:38):
Yeah, and Spot's brother, Jay Rock, was an MC at
the Jersey Shore and he was a pretty popular guido growing. Hey,
not of the most popular person in your family, right,
it's kind of anyway.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
I'm just stalling here, all right.

Speaker 9 (48:50):
So Sophie Cuttingham Stunningham is calling out Chicago Sky's Angel
Reese like this already her public comments on her team's
shaky season, so on this week's episode of her Show
Me Something podcast, Cunningham said that Reese's comments should be
kept to the locker room. Reese has apologized for her
comments since on the Team you Know. When she commented

(49:11):
on the team's performance and the team's roster, Cunningham said,
I'm a very team first person, always put the team
before my feelings, and I think that should be a standard.
You can't be saying everything you're feeling because that's not
a good look, and went on to say that public
drama only causes a division in the locker room, and
she said there should be some sort of consequence for it,

(49:32):
maybe even a fine.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
So midweek or major, I think it's major. I love drama.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
That's what keeps the WNBA going without without Caitlin Clark.
You see the ratings, you see everything as dropped dramatically,
So I think you keep these little storylines going Angel Reese,
Sophie Cunningham.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
I think Angel rees calling out the team is not
a good look.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
That's it's like immaturity. I think that I think there
should be a fine involved. So I'll I'm team Sophie
Cunningham on this one. Well, when Rich and I agree,
it's gotta be fat. Can be talking smack about your team.
Mightn't be talking smack about your team. That's a given right,
that's uh sports, one on one, keep it in the
locker room. But where I really agree with you, Rich,

(50:17):
is the WNBA needs the drama. I'm sorry without it,
not enough people care. I'm not saying people don't care,
but not enough people care. So lean into it all
you can, those rivalries, the smack talk, It's great for
the sport.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
It really is cool, all right.

Speaker 9 (50:33):
Musician Morgan Wallen known for doing his walkouts at his concerts,
usually showing him walking out of the tunnel with someone
from the city he's performing in when he's on his tour. Well,
Monday night, Morgan Wallen decided to invite former Blue Jays
slugger Jose Bautista to join him ahead of the second
night of his I'm the Problem tour at the Rogers

(50:54):
Center in Ontario. So while they were walking pastitube Bautista's
iconic pat flip and he did a little swing toss
the bat. What he didn't realize was off to the side.
Batista's wife, Niche was filming and in the video set
on social media, the bat is flipped directly into the camera.
It's like POV, right to the face, and so she

(51:15):
went on she actually, uh, the pair actually continued. They
didn't realize what was going on. They just kept walking
out of the tunnel. But she posted the video on
her social media, joking and saying that she is okay,
acknowledges it was an accident made week or major.

Speaker 1 (51:27):
I mean to the face roof, then our door door
style for a Bautista.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
I saw this video and I'm like, my god.

Speaker 1 (51:35):
I teach my kids when I coach five and six
year olds like hold the bat, put it down, don't
swing it around.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
To the people, don't throw it.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
What did he think was gonna happen? You think he
Gus Willy Nelly throw a bat. I mean, you don't
expect anybody to be back there backstage, I mean hit
his wife, of all people. I say, this is a
Hey's pretty major. I mean she's okay.

Speaker 2 (51:54):
So it's in a minute kind of major to safety.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
First, there was a really famous Gary Sanchez clip a
few years back where someone's swinging in the batter's box
almost hits him in the face.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
What I do remember that? Yeah, Mine inch gotta be
careful there, and Morgan Wallen good for him?

Speaker 3 (52:09):
All right?

Speaker 9 (52:10):
Cool, So Travis Kelsey, a new episode of the New
Heights podcast came out. Of course, there's always revelations on that.
Speaking out about the Xavier Worthy injury from Friday Nights
Chiefs Charger season opener in Brazil, he's taking full accountability
for the play which he rammed into worthy shoulder. He said,
I wasn't ready for the first drive. I ran into

(52:30):
one of my guys and off him out of the game.
It's hard to get your juices back going knowing that
you just heard a guy. He spoke about how frustrating
it is. Went on to say, I've got to be better.
I'm thirteen years in the league. There's no excuse for
me running into my own guys like that. There's no
word on whether Worthy is how he's doing. Actually, Andy

(52:51):
Reida did speak out today saying that he doesn't plan
on having a season ending injury. He's currently rehabbing the shoulder,
so he may be back on the field sooner than
you think. But Truck Kelsey wanted to say he could
barely play for the rest of the half until he
found out that Worthy was in good spirits and said
he owes this guy one midweek or major.

Speaker 1 (53:07):
I mean major crossing route. You bump into your guy.
It happens, in fact to Kelsey addressed it, I think
shows maturity. Yeah, But I think Kelsey's got bigger things
on his mind because him and Mahomes just opened the steakhouse.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
I know, I saw that fifteen eighty seven.

Speaker 1 (53:21):
They just had the opening and they have the big
Yetti drink named after Kelsey and Mahomes has a drink
because he's got so many things going on.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
It's another one called alchemy. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (53:31):
For Taylor, I think there's just so much going on
in his life. The fact did he address bigger story?
In fact, I think they need to focus on football.
And that happened in fifteen eighty seven. I don't know
what happened in fifteen days. Are you thinking of a
great stink of eighteen sixty fifty?

Speaker 2 (53:45):
Are you? I'm choking and I know it's their numbers.
I'm trying to think of. I can't. I don't have much.

Speaker 6 (53:50):
Some bad stuff happened in fifteen he's stinky stuff. I'm
pretty ruthless.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
You had me think, But anyway, I think it is major.
Rich and I are three for three. I actually agree
with him on everything. I think it's a major story.
Kelsey is a major star. And the fact that he's
thirteen years in the league and we're seeing that maturity,
and the fact that you still could learn a few
things and want to improve thirteen years into the league.
I think it's a testament to his dedication to the sport.

Speaker 5 (54:15):
All right.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
Oh and by the way, fifteen eighty seven, Sam, that
began the decline of the Ming dynasty.

Speaker 2 (54:22):
All that that way, Yeah, that's very big. All right.

Speaker 9 (54:25):
Mike Tyson, our guy, Mike Tyson appeared on the latest
episode of the Katie Miller podcast Who and made some
interesting revelations. So on the serious side, we'll touch on
that first. He talked about a lot about how during
his time the Heyday, when he was boxing, he was
using the drug fentanyl to handle pain during his career.
At the time, it was very unknown it was legal

(54:47):
to use, but he said, and not many people had
heard of it, but he was using it to mask
the pain. And he said once you get off of it,
you start withdrawing and the pain just comes back. So
he was using it regularly. On the fun side, we'll
switch to that. Miller asked at the end if he'd
rather be forced to watch The Notebook, the movie The
Notebook every Friday night, or never watch sports again. And

(55:08):
we found out in that moment that The Notebook is
one of Mike Tyson's favorite films. He says he regularly
watches it, loves the movie, loves the love story.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
So Midweek or Major, I mean anything with Mike Tyson,
I'll call major.

Speaker 2 (55:21):
I love Mike Tyson. In fact that he loves The
Notebook just adds to me liking him more. I love
The Notebook.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
But I think that story, that whole story that you
just told their spot totally encapsulates why we love Mike
Tyson because he has these issues clearly with fent and all,
and at the same time, like, I love The note
He's a very flawed man but also has this weird,
vulnerable side where you love frenzy sides. Yeah, Like Mike
Tyson's a man that you could equally be like, what
the Hell's wrong with this guy?

Speaker 2 (55:47):
And like I love him. I Love Romanta comedyes.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
I Love Rachel mcgadam, The Gothlin I Love I Love
The Love Vote, I Love Love Saren Dippany is my
favorite movie.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
There you go any other Christ Spasuason one.

Speaker 9 (56:00):
More So, Peyton Manning has revealed that he's setting his
sites very high when it comes to guests of the
Manning Cast he hosts with his brother So during Monday
Monday Night's season debut between the Viking during the Bite
Vikings Fairs Game, Peyton told his brother Eli that he
did everything he could to secure not all his homeliness.
Pope Leo the fourteenth as a guest on the Manning Cast. So,

(56:23):
the American born pope is from Chicago, self proclaimed sports fan,
Bears fan. I assume definitely a white Sox fan, he said, uh,
you know, he joked, kind of like when you re
craled failed to recruit Randy Moss to Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (56:36):
He couldn't close the Pope. He showed that he.

Speaker 9 (56:38):
Wrote two handwritten letters, one to the Pope, one to
the Pope's assistant trying to get him on the show.
So he went on to make a plea directly on
the Manning Cast, saying that there's an open invite for
the Pope to come by anytime in weaker major.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
Well, I mean the Pope does like Chicago sports team. Hey,
maybe he was watching, Maybe he was watching early morning
in Italy. I'll say this, a handwritten letter goes a
long way. When when someone writes you a handwritten letter,
this there is a little little more personal. So the
fact that Peyton Manning I saw the letter, it was
like two pages of his uh you know, penmanship, like
dear dearest, Pope, Peyton here, my dearest, and I I

(57:15):
don't think he'll get him, but that would be wild.
I think it's everybody say never. I think it's major.
You don't think he'll get Travis. If Kelsey got Taylor
Swift just from shooting his shot, they could shoot their
shot with the Pope and make it happen.

Speaker 2 (57:31):
I think it's the power of the letter. I think
it's major.

Speaker 1 (57:32):
Comno, if he gets the Pope, I think him reaching out, well,
how do you do it? You gotta you gotta throw
it out there, right, So it's the power of the
written letter, but also the power of simply asking people.
I think he's on the right track. I think it's possible.
I don't think it's impossible to get the Pope to
be on the podcast. Thanks, Gus's cool, all right with that.
Let's go to our friend in yours, Dan Buyer for

(57:55):
an update, dB.

Speaker 2 (57:56):
What's going on, man, guys, Just a heads up.

Speaker 7 (57:57):
Utsah Valley University canceling their men's soccer match tonight with
U C. Davis following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie
Kirk on the school's campus earlier today.

Speaker 3 (58:06):
Match is not going to make up, be made up.

Speaker 7 (58:08):
They are going to not play this evening, continued police
presidents on the campus because of today's circumstances. In NFL News,
forty nine Ers head coach Kyle Shanahan's's quarterback Brock Party
is a long shot to play in Week two against
the Saints because of toe and shoulder injuries. Party didn't
practice today, with Shanahan saying Party could miss multiple games
because of the injury.

Speaker 1 (58:30):
So I'm Cavino. That is rich, Danny g Sam, thank
you guys again. Now, we talked about fan etiquette today.
I sort of tied into like, where's the world going, like,
aside from the whole terrible Charlie Kirk story horrible.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
I didn't even get to give my fan etiquette one.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Oh I got to hear.

Speaker 1 (58:48):
But did you see there was a Colorado high school
shooting today? Oh jeez, ever I believe it's called Evergreen
High School. Four people injured so far horrible. So I
tied in, like, yeah, we gotta be better, not only
in life, but at the stadium and in sports. We
talked about that midweek major Dan, what was your what
was your fan etiquette improvement?

Speaker 3 (59:08):
We were at the All Star Game in Atlanta. There
was kids in the row with me, with the MLB
people in the row in front of us. There was
a couple They kept taking out their vape pen and
doing the big puff billowy smokes, and it was like,
going right to the kids, I'm like, what are you doing?
Go to the go to the restroom and do that
you vapes?

Speaker 2 (59:28):
What are we doing? What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (59:31):
That was That's how I labeled this whole thing, like
what are we doing with a bunch of people around kids?
We're not trying to stifle your fun. You know, hey
have all your phone, but do it respectfully.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
Read the crowd, look around you.

Speaker 2 (59:42):
I'm with you on that. I'm not telling you don't care.

Speaker 1 (59:44):
I'm not telling you don't vape, don't smoke weed, don't
do whatever you want to do. I'm just saying, like,
like a stadium just in row g, you're just gonna
break out a vape pen.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
It's gonna sell like bubblegum weed or whatever you got.

Speaker 1 (59:57):
Hope some of these undercover Seahawks cops are, you know,
trying to change things here?

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
That's the other story. Don't you wish sometimes that you
were an undercover officer of the law? When what time
you grew up with twenty one Jump Street? When do
you wish that? The most?

Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
Is it when you're on like the one oh one
or the high whatever highway or byways in your hometown
and you see some jo like weaving and speeding in
and out of lanes.

Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
I see people drive through red lights all the time.
Don't every day?

Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Don't you wish you could just be like citizens arrest
so badly? I flipped these people off. I'm like, just
a red light. Well, you could do that, Sam, Because
you have you have that fencing sword in case something down.
You keep that your back seat just in case, right
on guard, I have to have a weapon so I
kind of keep my mouth shut. But if you miss
that story too, Seahawks. At the Seahawks games, there's cops

(01:00:46):
there undercover any opposing team's jerseys, just to like sort
of police things and keep things safe. And now, Rich,
before we go, what are your thoughts on brock Purdy
and the long shot of him playing. I say he
shouldn't be playing at all. If there's a question at
hand here, I think I think you rest him. Now's
the time to rest them and give your boy Jones

(01:01:08):
a shot. Mac Jones filling in for a week maybe
two when your opponents are lower tier teams, and luckily
you got good news that Juwan Jennings is just mildly
banged up.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
There was good news.

Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
With Jennings Kittles out, but you know their backup tight
Ends seemed to do right last week.

Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
I mean, he's no George Kittle, but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
You just gotta you know, when teams have to tread
water until their schedule, it's hard. The forty nine ers
lucked out, and that in the fact that they have
some pretty weak ass games coming up, and this might
be Mac jones opportunity to say, hey, look with a
Kyle Shanahan offense.

Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
I think so I got the skill set man, what
you saw in New England, and I don't think there's
any threat there at the party's job. Yeah, that was
just that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Was just nonsense. I didn't get a fair shot. So
maybe maybe this is a good thing for Mac Jones.
I think so. I think it's a good thing for
the team. Let him us now while he can. It's
early and then tonight I'll be watching Yankees Tigers. But
a Charlie Sheen documentary that goes down tonight. That's tonight
on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Winning.

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
If you need a distraction, watch that guy. Surprisingly, he
looks great. We'll see you guys Manyana. Until then, be safe,
have a good night until tomorrow. Aribadirci baby, see you in.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
The Promised Land. See you tomorrow.
