Speaker 4 (02:00):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
It was a festive weekend there Seeton. What are we
going to go with Hour one? Well, where do you
want to start?

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Dan?

Speaker 5 (02:07):
We could start with the roast, Let's do basketball, then
a to double dcent in one about the roast. Actually,
you know what? And Marvin had a funny thought.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
This weekend money had Marvin had a funny thing, anything's possible.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Who won this weekend?

Speaker 6 (02:31):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I thought you were going to say who won the roast? Yeah,
well the roast may have won the weekend. Yeah, Tom
didn't win the roast. I kept wondering, if I'm watching,
why would he do this? Now I don't know what
he's getting paid, but I kept thinking, why would you
do that? And then who is next? What other sports
celebrity is next? So those were some of my random thoughts.

(02:53):
There were some wild lines last night and of his
live and it was a little too long, but it
was still it was live and it was rolling.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
So we'll get to some of those lines.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
We'll talk about this a little bit more here in
a moment like there's let me just do this line here.
You retired, then you came back, then you retired again.
I mean, I get it, it's hard to walk away
from something that's not your pregnant girlfriend. Nicky Glazer ripping Tom.
Julian Edelman was on fire. I mean, everybody Belichick like

(03:25):
it was just wall to wall where they were crushing Tom.
But I kept thinking, why, why would you want to
do this? And could you see Tiger Woods do this?
Could you see Michael Jordan doing this? Is there anybody
else on that in that stratosphere where they would go, yeah,
go ahead, pile on Now, maybe you get twenty five

(03:45):
million dollars or whatever Netflix would give you know, that
person for a roast. But I kept thinking, man, that
is brutal. All right, See what do we have basketball wise?

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Well, there was a discussion earlier this weekend about or
the earlier this morning about this weekend, how lucky the
Clippers got.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
To be eliminated on a Friday night. Yeah, yeah, no,
one's not.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
No, they didn't. Did it really happen? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah. I don't know if anybody cares, like like it's weird.
It's like, how the Clippers are out? Okay, now we
wait till next year. James Harden, what's he going to do?
Russell Westbrook, what's he going to do?

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Doesn't seem like anybody's too broken up about it, including
the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Well, nobody's on the hot seat, are they.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
I mean, Tylo's getting a contract extension because the Lakers
won him.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Hey, hey, you just bowed out we're going to give you.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
A contract extension, and he's gonna take that instead of,
you know, entertain the Lakers.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
Paul George is basically like, I don't feel pressure anymore,
you know, I go out there and play. Okay, so
we'll try again next year. Sure, God, leave me alone.
No pressure. Hey, we're gonna try again next year.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
It is that the end of the world? Yeah? Yeah,
but they bow out on it.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
It's like it was scripted a lot of times when
there's a new it's on Friday at five o'clock. You know,
you want to fire somebody whatever it might be, if
you want a story to go away Friday at five,
and then it kind of falls apart, dissipates over the weekend,
and then Monday you just start fresh again. So the
Clippers get to start fresh again today whatever that means.

(05:18):
And who would want James Harden. Who's gonna want Russell Westbrook?
You got Paul George. There's other teams to be interested in,
Paul George, Kawhi, you're saddled with that, the good and
the bad, the ugly with that and ty Lu getting
a contract extension, It's like, you know, the Lakers world's

(05:38):
falling apart because they got eliminated the Clippers.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
Well, okay, see how it works out next to year. Yeah, Paul,
I don't know how to compare the Clippers. They're in
a town where they're not in the top three or
four in relevancy. These it's definitely Dodgers, Lakers, et cetera,
et cetera. But like they get a perennial hall pass
for underachieving and they're not the you know the Clippers
when we were young Dan where they just really stunk.

(06:02):
They're always like decent, second place, third place, first place
in the division. It's like, but they get no hard
criticism or coverage.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
We had to remind or inform Marvin that the Clippers
used to be terrible before he was born, way worse
than they are now. Back then, you were like, oh
my god, you got traded to the Clippers like they
were the Washington Wizards. It's like, what happened, Oh, he's
going to the Clippers like the Cleveland Indians.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Like, oh my god, I feel bad for you.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
And then Clippers got competitive, and then it feels like
the last couple of years, the odds would be they'd
be in the top five to win the title, and
I go, in, what world could they be winning the title?

Speaker 3 (06:43):
They can't stay healthy.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
It doesn't feel like every game really truly matters to them.
And you've got guys making a lot of money and
they sort of go out there and play. You know,
it's not like you go, boy, when they get to
the playoffs, that's when they dial it up a little bit.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
There.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
No, it's pretty much the same, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
So the Michael Olawa Candy Ears weren't the bottom for
the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Oh, Michael.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
They made the playoffs eleven of the last thirteen years.
They're always in the playoffs, but they don't do much
in the playoffs. The maybe on Western Conference Finals a
few years ago, like anomaly.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, but they don't feel threatening. It's just like, okay,
may you bowed out, all right, get him next year.
We're gonna give you a contract extension, your head coach. Okay, yeah,
moving into a new arena, Yeah, yes, Martin.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
But for them, is relevancy a win because, like I
was saying, when I was a kid, they were just
a Clippers. They were just bad, not as bad as
when you guys were kids. But relevancy seems like a
win for them new arena star players, but.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Are they relevant in a positive way. We know what happened,
we know who they are, but we're not surprised. I mean,
nobody's going, oh my god, can't believe the Clippers are
out Like you might say that a little bit with
the Lakers, like dang Lebron and ad Well they ran
into Denver, but with the Clippers and they faced Dallas

(08:09):
and still can't figure out, you know, how to beat
that team in the playoffs. Nobody's shocked. There's no I
don't think there's outrage, can you both? They should fire Tyler? No,
none of that.

Speaker 9 (08:24):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
I don't if there's outrage, I'm gonna guess locally, but
nationally is not. I don't think there's a basketball fan
that goes, man, I thought this was their year.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 8 (08:37):
It's like the Lakers are the older brother who's in
charge of taking over the family business someday and all
the pressure is on them, and then there's that middle
brother who's just hanging out not doing much.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Clippers are Fredo Like nobody, Yes, you're like, yes, they're afraido.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
What happened to you?

Speaker 4 (08:52):
No pressure?

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah, Hey, we're going out for a boat trip. Okay, yeah, Fredo,
come back. It doesn't go well, yeah, what else do
you have seton?

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Let's see we got after one game. Who do you
like to advance? The Timberwolves are Nuggets.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Well, I said, look, I'm not surprised that the Timberwolves
win this series, and I won't be surprised up one.
Oh yeah, I'm not surprised and won't be surprised. Now
the Nuggets are favored by I think five and a
half tonight. By the way, the Pacers are getting six
against the Knicks, the Wolves getting five and a half.
But I don't know if this is one of those
wake up calls where Denver goes, oh my god, like

(09:34):
now they're real. Well, they have size and that you know,
can keep Jokers' numbers down, which they did, and you
don't have an answer for Anthony Edwards. They have the
sixth Man of the Year. Like they're a good team,
They're a solid team, and the question is can you
get that kind of performance out of Karl Anthony Towns

(09:55):
and or Anthony Edwards every single game because you're gonna
need it. But I won't be surpris we're talking in
a couple of weeks that Minnesota has moved on. I
wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota plays for the title.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
I would not be.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Now, that doesn't mean Denver's not going to go back there,
because I do think they have the best starting five
in basketball. Yeah, Minnesota two seems like a super likable team,
or like root for able team, which is sort of
unfair to say about the Nuggets because they have sort
of jumped from hey, we're really good and underappreciated to yeah,

(10:28):
you guys already win, so we're not rooting for you.
They sort of skipped that America's Darling part of like
hey how about this Nuggets team that a lot of
teams get.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
They got this sort of like yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
Yeah, we see you guys. It's okay, fine, Like, well
you already want to you're the defending champs.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, but Minnesota is entertaining. You're right, Denver's efficient, Like
they're methodical. They're just a really good team.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
But they're super entertaining too. I mean, they bring a
certain energy to a game that is unbelievable, but.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
The star player doesn't.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
So you have Michael Porter Junior, the third, you have
you know, Gordon in there, Jamal Murray. But the star
player is not exciting. He's just the best player in
basketball in a you know, like he's fundamentally awesome.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
But he'll have these moments though, too, where it's like
he grabs a rebound and just like baseball, passes at
the length of the court to Gordon for this unbelievable
dunk and it's like, yeah, that's what they do, Dan,
did you pass?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I do?

Speaker 3 (11:26):
It's unreal. But you're so good you don't go, honey,
you get in here. Look at Joker in that outlet pass?
What yes, look at that?

Speaker 9 (11:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (11:37):
But why Anthony Edwards? You watch and you go, oh, okay,
that's something a little different. And I think that's the
entertaining part of this. I don't consider Karl Anthony Town's exciting.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Uh Rudy Gobert, Are you saying he's too big to
be entertaining?

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Like aist?

Speaker 2 (11:56):
No, I'm not a highest but he's his game is
just not a highlightedte What I highlight I'm a highlightest
because I worked on Sports Center and there are players
where you go got to get him in.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
The highlight there, right, I'm a highlightedt yes, because I'm
a loser.

Speaker 8 (12:14):
I was looking at Anthony Edwards's stats this weekend, not
a big weekend. He he's interesting because he doesn't just
jack threes. He slashes so often. He's actually taking less
threes every year in the league. Two years ago he's
averaging eight and a half attempts seven point three this
year sit down to six and a half threes attempted
per game. He pressures them all day, He takes a

(12:35):
hole all day, like early Derrek Rose.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Well, he's going to take it to the hoop and
then in you know, the years after that, you're going
to see him. Then he's going to be that mid
range three point shooter. It happens. You can only go
to the hoop so often. You know, Vince Carter became
one of the great three point shooters in history, and
nobody was more athletic and jumped higher than Vince Carter.
But eventually you have to come down and it takes

(13:00):
a toll on you. And then Vince is like, I
can to shoot threes here. But you know, watching Anthony
Edwards has a lot of fun. I did watch the
I think people missed out on the Cabs and Magic series.
And I know that's going to sound really strange, it
was really entertaining.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
It was it was actually you did less this weekend
the night I did.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Watch most of the game, just had a snot bubble.
I watched, and you know, Franz Wagner crushed him and
he was terrible. But Paolo ban Caro was awesome, like
you forget. You know, he was at Duke for I
don't know, a weekend or something, and he is a
really good player every single night, night in night out.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
But Donovan Mitchell, dude, is you know there's certain.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Guys where you go that guy can lead you to victory,
and Donovan Mitchell's on that short list of players. Like
you fear Donovan Mitchell And how many players do you
think are feared? And maybe feared is too strong, but
Anthony Edwards, you fear him. Kyrie in the fourth quarter
like certain guys. If I say fourth quarter, I got
not fearing Jason Tatum. Jason Tatum's wonderful player. But I

(14:09):
don't go h fourth quarter Kyrie. I would aunt man
Donovan Mitchell, I would Jalen Brunson, I would Halliburton's not
there yet. High school, Siakam. I guess you can throw
Luca in there. We've seen him hit big shots, but
Kyrie would make me a little more nervous there. So

(14:30):
Donovan Mitchell, who I don't even know if he'll be
there next year, but he just wanted it. He just
said they were down seventeen, and I go, oh my god,
they're at a home and then you just took over.
So there was a lot of There was a lot
of good basketball in that series. And then you had
a game that ended on a game at a block
off by Evan Mobley, so that you know, maybe we

(14:52):
were not, you know, caught up on Orlando and Cleveland
and care about them because they're not going to win
a title. But it was good basketball, all right. So
we'll settle on a pull question. PACER's Nicks game on tonight,
Timberwolf Snuggets game two, Reggie Miller in the final hour.
Drew Bledsoe. America got reintroduced to Drew Bledsoe last night,
and it was great because Drew Bledsoe used to be

(15:16):
a really good quarterback.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Never became an.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Analyst, started as a winery businessman, but you know, he
lost his job to Tom Brady never got it back,
so he was up there slinging some jokes there. Tom's
way phone calls eight seven to seven three DP show.
We'll get back to that. We'll talk about the Kentucky
Derby ratings were up. Why we'll have that for you

(15:39):
coming up, and some of the best lines from the
Tom Brady roast after this Dan Patrick show.

Drew Bledsoe will join us coming up here in a moment, Seaton.
What's the pole question for hour or two? I'm gonna

(16:52):
go with the defleet gate? Did Tom Brady admit to
defleet game? Okay, well, you guys, I told you that
I think he did about you.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
See, I think he was saying, if you gave me
twenty million dollars, that I did pretty much anything.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
What about you, Todd?

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I took it exactly that way, that that was not
an admittance of anything.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Oh okay, Marv, did you think Brady admitted to the fleet?

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Kate? I do?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Okay, Paulie, what about you?

Speaker 8 (17:15):
It's kind of a little bit. I think he admitted
to it decades ago, you know, decade ago. By his
actions afterwards and his nonchalantness about it is like we
all know I did it, and we all know it's
not a big deal.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
So yes, he admitted it again.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Okay, Okay, Yeah, I got that feeling that you know,
we like it's past its due date and the expiration date, Like, yeah,
I can make fun of this a little bit and
did last night poking fun, but really poking fun at
the commissioner spending twenty million. If that's true, I'd never
seen a dollar figure attached to that. At twenty million

(17:50):
dollars to investigate the fleet gate. What did they get
out of that? That they're not afraid to stand up
to the biggest name in sports. They're going to protect
the shield no matter what.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Again yeah, again, of course they are.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Let me see Cadillac in Arkansas is back, Cadillac ack
at that gang?

Speaker 3 (18:10):
How are you?

Speaker 11 (18:12):
I'm great man, Hey, thanks for calling back. Uh. I
just want to let you know that I just had
the experience of a lifetime. I was in the Honor
Marie entourage and the walkover from the from the stable
to the paddock and then from the paddock to the
owner suite was I don't even remember. It was freaking crazy.

Speaker 9 (18:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
I'm telling everybody that I'm going with Honor Marie because
a listener is going to be part of, you know,
the entourage with that horse.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
And then you let me down. Cadillac.

Speaker 11 (18:43):
Hey, did you did you see the start that he
got out of the gate? He got the thinged around
the jockey got knocked out of the irons and around
the corner with the one leg in the iron. Uh
in the finished stated they finished finished call uh. But
he will be into Belmont as far as I know.
It came out of everything healthy and cleaned. And when

(19:03):
he wins the Bellmont, I'll save you an m a rehat.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Okay, that'd be nice. I appreciate that, Cadillac. Glad you
had a great weekend. Drew Bledsell got reintroduced to America
last night the Tom Brady Roast, and here is one
of his better lines.

Speaker 12 (19:19):
Buddy, you know you have more rings than I do.
But I've experienced a couple of things that you will
never experience. Ye know, the feeling of being the number
one overall draft pick in the NFL and the twenty
eighth wedding anniversary it was yesterday.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Ouch, that was such a good payoff. You paused appropriately.
You did great there.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
How nervous were you?

Speaker 6 (19:52):
You know?

Speaker 13 (19:53):
You know the funny thing, Dan, A lot of people
ask me that going into the things, there be a
lot of people watching, you know, But I speak in
public all the time. I never prepare anything ever. Uh
So I was more prepared for that one than I
than I'd been for speaking in public for quite a while.
But it was it was still it made me go first,
man made I was a sacrificial lamb. I had to

(20:15):
go up there and try to make everybody else feel comfortable.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
All right, tell me about rehearsal, how much rehearsal? And
is Brady involved in rehearsal?

Speaker 6 (20:23):
No?

Speaker 13 (20:24):
He was not there, man, I we Uh, I think
there were a lot of us. I showed up very
very late for rehearsal. I had a wine deal up
and wall wall, and so I got there at the
very end, so nobody got to hear anybody else's material
before before the whole thing started. And uh yeah, So
we just got up and kind of read through, read
through the script that we put together, and that was

(20:46):
kind of it. But it was uh man, it was.
It was fun though, Man, it was funny as hell.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
What was it like, though, was somebody writing jokes for you?
And you know, Brady's He's gonna still take it like
you're saying this about him even though somebody's helping you
these jokes.

Speaker 13 (21:01):
Well, the truth is it was mostly my material. Uh
we we we worked with we worked with the and
so all I'll own it. I'm not I'm not passing
this off on anybody else. Now, we uh we went
back and forth with the writers, but uh, you know
the funny thing is, uh a lot of the stuff
that they sent me we ended up throwing out and

(21:22):
and uh given other people and we we did mostly
our material.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
I like that. I like that.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
But you know, the the anniversary line was awesome and
you waited after the applause before you, you know, drop
the hammer.

Speaker 13 (21:38):
Yeah, I mean, look, I mean it's I mean, the
truth is we're talking about Tom Brady, right there's you know,
you can't really make fun of his career.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
You can't.

Speaker 13 (21:44):
You can't see you have to do, you have to do.
You have to dig deep, you have to dig deep.
So uh uh you know, I can't make fun of
him for not winning like nine Sex Bowls. So so
so we got to jump into the personal stuff. But uh, yeah,
it was pretty.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
What was it like after the roast though, when everybody
said what they've said about Brady?

Speaker 3 (22:05):
And then do you get together?

Speaker 6 (22:08):
Yeah, we had a.

Speaker 13 (22:09):
Little a little party afterward at the Forum and then
the reason my voice sounds like it does, right, now
is that. After that, we ended up at the Comedy
Store and yeah, we were in a little private back
room and Dave Chappelle got on stage, so we didn't.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
We didn't, we didn't.

Speaker 13 (22:27):
We didn't get home until about three thirty in the morning.
So yeah, I'm on pretty short time, man. That's why
I sound a little rough as far.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Okay, does Brady go up to people and I mean,
how can you not take some of that personally?

Speaker 13 (22:42):
Yeah, you know, I mean, if you sign up for
a roast, you know, it's just like you know that
the gloves are coming off, you know. I was, I was,
I was a bit worried for him, and it got
a little rough. It got a little rough, but it's
kind of what you sign up for when you're to
do that. The funny thing though, is I was, I

(23:02):
was talking with one of his one of his one
of his people, and and she said, she goes, you know,
his perspective is that this is nothing that hasn't been
said already, Like he's heard all of this stuff, so
he might as well just get it out there in
public and make it funny, because if you can laugh
at it, then it doesn't hurt his bad.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Give me the joke that made you cringe.

Speaker 13 (23:23):
Oh jeez, man, there were so many, there were so many.
Let's see, I'm trying to think. Hold on, give me,
give me a give me a second on a fire
last night. Oh dude, Edelman was on fire. Gronk was
just you know, and I you know, we all appreciate
Gronk because he just he gets to just be Gronk.

(23:45):
And the funny thing is we're sitting up there on
the stage and we can see the telepropter and Gronk
was so far off script that we didn't know, we
didn't know, we did not know if he was coming back,
like he was out wandering in the wilderness, and.

Speaker 6 (23:59):
Uh, how real?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
How real is his what we see or how he's
treated or talked about, like, well, he's grown, he played football.

Speaker 13 (24:09):
Oh he's dumb like a fox. I mean you know
that we can see, you know, you can all see
through it. I mean he's the dude's really smart, works
his ass off, but he also understands that that's kind
of his stick.

Speaker 6 (24:20):
Right. So one thing I was worried about, I will
be honest about this.

Speaker 13 (24:27):
Until like just before the show, I thought that Thomas
Folks were going to be there, like his mom was
supposed to be sitting right in front of the stage,
and I was like, man, I mean, it's all fun
and games until you're looking at your buddy's mom sitting
right in front of you as you're saying just this awful,
awful stuff about him. But you know, Niki Lazer, she

(24:52):
she's a trained killer. I told her, I think she's
like a Bond villain. You know, she's really really pretty
uh and also just an assass So.

Speaker 6 (25:01):
So, you know, so of that stuff was pretty funny.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
How was it with Belichick? Your interactions with him?

Speaker 6 (25:07):
You know, I mean, Bill is Bill, and he's just
he is.

Speaker 13 (25:12):
He's always He's always Bill like like, and when you
get him, you know, when you get him out of
the office, you know, he can he can actually be
pretty funny and pretty engaging. But man, he's still really
really likes to talk about football, you know, even though
he don't have a job. Like we had to do
this cold open deal with me and him and Tommy

(25:32):
had to go film this a little bit before we
before we did the show, and we end up standing
back there and we're just gonna have a conversation. Next
thing you know, we're breaking down defenses and talking about
college football programs, Like all right, dude, come on, you
don't even have a football job right now, and this
is still all we're going to talk about.

Speaker 6 (25:56):
But now I thought it was It was cool.

Speaker 13 (25:58):
I didn't know he he was sort of like a
last minute, last minute add you know, but it was
great that he was aresphone.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Now are you playing golf today?

Speaker 6 (26:09):
I am playing golf.

Speaker 13 (26:10):
We've got the Netflix is a joke golf at tourney
with well either real Will Ferrell or Ron Berg and
I'm not sure which one's gonna show up. And uh,
you know, Bill Burr and man, a whole bunch of
the comedians are gonna be there. So uh, as soon
as I, you know, recover here just a little bit,

(26:33):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go tee it up and
hopefully laugh at a bunch of the famous comedians again today.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Anything we didn't see on TV that we should know
about from last.

Speaker 13 (26:43):
Night, oh man, that I can tell you about ship,
you know, so I will tell you this my so,
my brother was down here with me.

Speaker 6 (26:54):
I love my brother. He's funny as hell.

Speaker 13 (26:57):
He actually threw a couple of jokes in uh and
for us, you know, after the show, I'm kind of tired,
kind of ready to go, and he goes, look sounds
like all the writers and the comedians are going to
the comedy store. We should go just in case something happens, right,
And so yeah, last night we ended up sitting downstairs

(27:21):
and listening to Dave Chappelle do Dave Chappelle stuff. He
just sat there on stage just rip him with the audience.
He didn't have a script, didn't have anything. So that
was freaking captivating. I will tell him, and she's gonna
be really really mad at me, but she just she's
not listening to you right now. So I'll tell you
to tell you the truth. My wife wrote one of

(27:44):
the jokes, which one I'm not telling. Then then I
would never get laid again if I told you I
told you which joke. But yeah, we uh. She she
threw one of the jokes the last night, which was
pretty funny to be able to tell people that my

(28:04):
little sweetheart of a wife, my cute little Catholic girl
that I married, actually slave it last night.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
I liked that.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Well, have fun today. I think you need like a
bloody Mary or a transfusion.

Speaker 13 (28:19):
You need something, it's definitely gonna take something. Dan, Dude,
I'm rough, man, I'm rough right now. And I know
I sound like it. I know I sound like it,
but you know, I wasn't going to not watch Dave
Chappelle at three in the morning at the Comedy Store
last night.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
So well done, man, Thanks for joining us as always.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
All right, thank you, Dan, That's true.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Bledsoe former number one overall pick one of these celebrity
roasters there. And it was nice because he's probably one
of the guys that got reintroduced to some people because
he's not an analyst. He's a winemaker and I think
still living in Washington, but be able to go out
there and rough up Tom a little bit and did
a good job. Not sure what joke his wife gave him,

(29:04):
but I understand his logic there. Uh Aaron in Pennsylvania, Hi,
erin what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Hey?

Speaker 14 (29:12):
Dan, so I wanted to talk about a couple of things,
but I need to I need to tell you this first.
As soon as I.

Speaker 15 (29:17):
Got put on hold, I got pulled over. Oh no,
and yeah, well and and so the officers walking up to.

Speaker 14 (29:28):
My car and I did the crime and I've got
I've got this, you know, the show on the background.

Speaker 11 (29:35):
He said, you.

Speaker 14 (29:36):
Know, do you mind shutting off the car? And I
said I. I said, are are you a sports fan?

Speaker 11 (29:42):
And he said yes.

Speaker 14 (29:43):
And I said, I've been on hold here and with
this show so many times. But I either get cut
off or I lose a signal. I said, I know,
I did what I did. And he went through a
couple of things and he said, I have a good day,
slow down, and I hope you get on the sho officer.

Speaker 15 (30:03):
Officer bill from the State Highway Patrol of Pennsylvania.

Speaker 9 (30:09):
I thank you, all right.

Speaker 14 (30:12):
It's hard to go after that, but I want to
talk about Caitlin Clark because they had their preseason game
on Friday. They sold out. Now it's only like six
or seven thousand seats, but did you catch any of that?
And then the other thing, I looked at ticket prices,

(30:33):
her ticket the games that she is gonna that the
Fever are playing, they are ten to fifteen times higher
than the regular regular tickets when they're not playing the Fever.
And I just wondered if you had any comment on that.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah, and you're finding that some of these teams that
she's going to be playing against, they're trying to get
larger venues because of you know, the overwhelming response. And
I did watch some of her pre season game and
I thought that, you know, she might be a twenty
point scorer this year, but that she would focus on
passing more. Kind of ingratiate yourself to that lineup. So

(31:11):
it's not about you because at Iowa she had the
green light and you could take thirty shots if you
wanted to. I think being a little bit more economical
with the shots that she takes. Now, you want her
to score. You don't want to take away her best weapon,
but I think she might her passing might stand out
more than her scoring.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Yeah, Marvin, Yeah, that pick and roll with Caitlin Clark
and Leah Boston is going to be deadly. It's going
to be Jamal Murray Jokic.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Like, well, it's going to be Stockton to Malone with
a better shooter than Stockton. No, she's she's going to
be able to do the pick and roll out further
if she wants to and make you pay. But a
Leah Boston, you know they got a great one two
punch there, all right, we'll take a break. More phone
calls coming up. My thoughts to Drew Bledsoe at a
quick turnaround from the Dave Chappelle stay up at the

(32:00):
Comedy Store, Todd, did you play the Comedy Store?

Speaker 4 (32:03):
I did? Actually I didn't play it well, but thanks
to you, I got an opportunity to get up there
with some of the famous comedians over the years that
have been at that venue. It's pretty it was pretty exciting.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Thank you, Tom. All Right, we'll take a break back
after this.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 2 (32:27):
He's Mac Reggie Aloisius Miller Junior, the third. He was
on the call for Game one of the Nuggets and
the Timberwolves, and he's got Game two tonight and then
he goes to the Garden coming up for Game two
on Wednesday with the Knicks and the Pacers.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Reg great to see you, great.

Speaker 16 (32:45):
Oh was that MJ? Was that beloved? Yeah, mar beloved
m J. Yes, what a way to be reunited. He
was Theodore and my Dan nets.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
To play a little you know, that's the MJ. You like.

Speaker 17 (33:05):
That is very true. Yes, that's the MJ that I
love a door and can tolerate.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Okay, could you see Michael Jordan doing what Tom Brady
did last night?

Speaker 9 (33:18):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 17 (33:19):
There's no way. There is no way that there's more
of a mystique about MJ's There's no way for three
hours people taking shots. I was shocked when I when
I first heard about it, and then when I watched
it last night, because really, what a roast is about

(33:44):
is your loved ones telling you how they really feel
about you and disguising them as jokes.

Speaker 9 (33:51):
That's really what a roast is.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
So was a roast with Michael Jordan? Would you take part?

Speaker 9 (34:00):
Uh?

Speaker 17 (34:01):
I guess I would be the Drew Bledsoe of that roast,
I assume, right, Or Peyton Manning.

Speaker 9 (34:09):
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 17 (34:12):
I don't know if I could be that close to
him without I tell you, without me taking a swing out.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
All right?

Speaker 2 (34:20):
You were there for Game one with Anthony Edwards going off?
Who does his game remind you of?

Speaker 17 (34:28):
Look, I've heard the comparisons, and again you and I
were just talking about him J And you know how
I feel about him.

Speaker 9 (34:36):
There's not a lot of love lost.

Speaker 17 (34:39):
But Michael Jordan is one of one, okay, uh, And
I understand that we are all fascinated with trying to
find the next MJ. We tried to annoy Kobe, We
did Vince Carter, Dwayne Wade.

Speaker 9 (34:57):
And all those guys. There were similarity.

Speaker 17 (35:01):
Having said all that, I do see some correlation between
Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan. The movement, some of the shots,
the fadeaways, how he approaches the defensive side of things.
But they're two different players. Again at twenty two and

(35:22):
Anthony Edwards is still young. His game is not fully
polished yet. It's getting there and it will get there.
But Michael wasn't polished at twenty two either. MJ looked
like he was floating on air.

Speaker 9 (35:36):
When we watched him play. Anthony Edwards is getting there.
I love the way he attacks the basket. There's that
similarity with MJ. But I'm not gonna jump on the
vandwagon and.

Speaker 17 (35:49):
Say he's the next Jordan because we tried to do
that with Kobe, and Kobe was probably the closest thing
I would put his game. I would say he is
more like Dwayne Wade, but with a jump shot. But
with a jump shot how because he's not as he's
not as tall as Mike. Mike was about six five
sixty six. Anthony Edwards is about six four, but he

(36:13):
is more in that flash category but with but with
a better jump shot.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
How surprised would you be if Minnesota wins this series?

Speaker 9 (36:24):
Varying?

Speaker 17 (36:24):
I think a lot of people are counting out the champs.
I know they're down one game. They were never down
one game last year in their championship run. But uh,
you know, Michael Malone is a heck of a coach,
and I know he didn't finish in the top three
in the uh you know, coaching finalists.

Speaker 9 (36:44):
But there will be adjustments made, and you just because
you lose a home game, you just can't count them out.
I know that Anthony Edrewards was a lot. Would I
be surprised? Yes, I mean, but it is a two
three matchup, Let's not forget that.

Speaker 17 (37:02):
But Minnesota they haven't been in these uncharted waters before
Denver hats So it's one game and is this their
best shot we will see? I still see this going
six or seven game. You know, it's hard to pick
him right now, I still would. There's still the champs
and you don't win x amount of games have the

(37:24):
number two seed without being successful on the road, Theodore
as you know. So they can go up to Minnesota
and reclaim home court. But tonight is a huge game.
Now they go down Love too, that's a different story.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
If the choker wins another title and another MVP, now
now we're going into a different category he's in.

Speaker 9 (37:44):
He's in a different room.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Yeah, Like now now he's one of the all time greats.

Speaker 9 (37:49):
Yeah, I think if he wins his third MVP in
four years.

Speaker 17 (37:54):
Obviously, if he wins a championship and he'll probably win
finals MVP, he's in a different door of the Hall
of Fame and the greatest players. And mentioned him in
that way because we view him a little bit different.
In terms of sinners, he's on the short list. You know,
You've got Will Shaq, Kareem Hakeem, and then I mean.

Speaker 9 (38:19):
You could put Moses Malone maybe in there.

Speaker 17 (38:23):
But he's going to be in a very short list
if he can win another title, finals.

Speaker 9 (38:29):
MVP and obviously a regular season peap. This will be
three and four years.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
And then all of a sudden, you know, you start
to creep in a lot of times we don't let
the modern player creep into our our heroes, you know, like, well,
he's not Larry Bird, or he's not magic, or he's
not you know, whoever you want to throw out there.
But he is right in front of us, right before us,
just like Steph Curry. Like they're moving, you know, closer

(38:54):
to the top ten than maybe we want to admit.

Speaker 9 (38:58):
And I think we need to appreciate that.

Speaker 17 (39:00):
I think that's why we get into this who's the
goat between Lebron and MJ. You know, you hear it
all the time, and it's not fair. How about just
appreciate the guys that are here right now, Kevin Durant,
Stephen Curry and obviously Lebron, because those guys are on
the clock, and those guys are home right now. Because
they're on the clock father time. I'm saying it catches

(39:26):
up to all of us. They are all fantastic players,
but they're home right now. And you see these young
guns like in Anthony Edwards, Shay Gilgis, Alexander and these
young teams they're bawling out and they're taking names and
they're making their names off of these all time Mount
Rushmore type players.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
I'm wondering, it's the Laker job, and you know, in
enviable position, like being the head coach of the Lakers
used to mean something.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Does it still mean something? Is it a desirable job?

Speaker 17 (40:01):
It's only desirable because you're playing in front of celebrities
and they're tied with the Boston Celtics for the most championships.

Speaker 9 (40:10):
But it's a tough gig.

Speaker 17 (40:12):
It's almost like how I guess the Yankee job was
back in the Billy Martin days. You and I remember
how the turnover was there for a long time being
a manager of the New York Yankees because you were
expected to win every season. And the Lakers are in
that category with along with the Boston Celtics. They're expected

(40:33):
to compete only for championship, and it's it wasn't fair
to Frank Vogel, it wasn't fair to Darvin Ham.

Speaker 9 (40:40):
To me, I really.

Speaker 17 (40:41):
Felt that those two were the scapegoats. You still had Lebron,
you still had Ad. You want a bubble championship with
Frank Vogel, but for some reason, they can't coach, and
I think you need to look at who put these
teams together. If you're going to clean house with the coach,
you've got to look at the very top as well.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Gms don't fire gms.

Speaker 9 (41:05):
Well, yeah, to look at who put this roster together.

Speaker 17 (41:09):
I'm not saying it's all on Rob Pelinka, but he
made the deals.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Yeah, Reggie's on the call tonight Game two in Denver,
and then you've got Game two Pacers Knicks on Wednesday
on TNT. What's it like when you go into the
garden now as a broadcaster.

Speaker 9 (41:28):
During a regular season game, it's really nothing.

Speaker 17 (41:33):
I think it'll be a little bit more heightened on
Wednesday because.

Speaker 9 (41:38):
There's more at State. Let's face it, right, and I'm
looking forward to it.

Speaker 17 (41:44):
And for those of you wondering why I'm doing this game,
it's the same reason why Tony Romo or Troy Ayton
and they do Dallas Cowboys games. It's going to be
down the middle, right, That's how it is. That's my
job is to call it like I see it, so
there won't be any phavored favoritism.

Speaker 9 (42:04):
I mean, for eighteen years, was I Indian piacer?

Speaker 17 (42:07):
Absolutely, but I'm sure i'll hear the chance I'm sure,
I'll hear all those naughty word I'm good with that,
But I'm there to do a job to call a game.
I think this will be a fantastic series.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Wait, do you get booed when you go into the
garden you get on Wednesday?

Speaker 17 (42:25):
I will be surprised during the game if I don't
hear Reggie sucks.

Speaker 9 (42:31):
I'll actually I'll be a little hurt if I don't
hear Reggie sucks. I kind of want that.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Why don't you go out and take some jumpers before
the game?

Speaker 9 (42:42):
I just might.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
I just might, just on the left side.

Speaker 17 (42:48):
Where I sits that that forty five degree angle, just
to let them know, just to.

Speaker 9 (42:56):
Let them know.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
And you know who goes first, the other guy has
to go to that guy's funeral. So if Spike goes,
you got to go to Spike's funeral. Right, it's a
package deal and vice versa.

Speaker 9 (43:08):
We will forever be linked.

Speaker 17 (43:10):
Now we have put a lot of our baggage kind
of under the bridge. You know, we've been friendly at
All Star games, and he was at when we did
the All Star luncheon for the Legends.

Speaker 9 (43:25):
He was there and presented an award for me.

Speaker 17 (43:28):
So we've been kind of cool, but we haven't faced
our Pacers and Knicks have not faced one another.

Speaker 9 (43:34):
Now we are.

Speaker 17 (43:35):
I'm gonna be in the building, and tensions are high
because both teams have a chance to be in a
conference finals.

Speaker 9 (43:41):
Think about that.

Speaker 17 (43:42):
The Knicks and or Pacers have a chance to be
in a conference finals, so the stakes are much higher.

Speaker 9 (43:49):
I get it New Yorkers, the.

Speaker 17 (43:50):
Way they took over Philadelphia and how they acted, I
get it.

Speaker 9 (43:57):
But just know the boogie coming back down? Okay.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
I I had Rick Carlisle on recently and I said,
who's the better best shooter in Indianapolis? And he said, well,
I'm going to take Tyreese Halliburton. He goes, but if
Larry Bird was around, I'd take Larry. I said, what
about Caitlin? He goes, well, Larry's still going to say
he's the best shooter in Indianapolis. Who do you think

(44:26):
is the best shooter in Indianapolis? You mean you're not there?

Speaker 3 (44:30):
No, who's there? Now?

Speaker 6 (44:34):
Wow? I mean.

Speaker 9 (44:39):
Caitlyn y and so can Tyrese.

Speaker 16 (44:44):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (44:46):
I already know they probably have shot.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
So who would you take in a three point shooting contest?
Tyrese Haliburton or Caitlin Clark and you can throw Bird
in there too.

Speaker 9 (44:59):
Right now, right now, we'll see.

Speaker 17 (45:01):
I will say this, Tyrese has been struggling with his
three point shots since the al ce R.

Speaker 9 (45:06):
I've been doing my homework, so I might.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
I might go with But if you were in Indianapolis,
come on, okay, all right, you know I do come
on the team that fascinates you the most.

Speaker 6 (45:21):
Here.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
If I said Clippery's seventy six ers Warriors in the
off season.

Speaker 17 (45:27):
I would probably say Warriors only for the simple fact
of this, is this the end of the dynasty? Because
I've been hearing there's feelers out there for Klay Thompson
and look, four championships between Draymond, Steph and Clay and
they've been such a big part of pop culture and

(45:50):
changing how our game is played and viewed with all
the threes and you know, playing small ball and you know.
So I'm more intrigued about what's going to happen with
Clay and is this the end of their run and
their dynasty.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
I wonder, like I watched Orlando, they desperately need three
point shooters, and I wonder, is there a chance that
Paul George would be in the mix, or Klay Thompson
in the mix, because you know, you've got to have
at least one three point shooter, and.

Speaker 17 (46:23):
Not only that, those two guys have veteran presence in
that young Orlando magic, you know, locker room. I think
that was the only thing that was that was missing.
And I told people this on the air. I said
that in the first game against the Timberwolves, and the
last thing you want to do is be up big.

(46:44):
They got up big versus Cleveland in Game seven on
the road, but they kind of showed their youth in
the second half, and Donovan Mitchell showed why he's one
of the top twenty twenty five players in our games
and he has game seven experience. If you have a
Paul George or Kay Thompson on this team, that kind

(47:05):
of helps balance things out.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Paulie reminded me when we were gonna have you, and
he goes, you know Stark's Headbutted Reggie and Starks is
at these games. Well, you kind of you sold it,
but Starks will be there at at the game. Like
you actually had a physical conference, not Spike, Spike, you
and just had words.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
But you and John Stark's Okay.

Speaker 9 (47:27):
I haven't seen Johnny Boy no what, so he'll.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Be there, Charles, Uh, bring them all?

Speaker 9 (47:39):
Patrick? Do you think I care about it? Any of them?

Speaker 2 (47:43):
Well, you're not going to mess with you? And you you,
you're like Patrick, he's a good guy. Okay, you're not
gonna mess.

Speaker 9 (47:49):
With You'd easily make a call and get some.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
No, but you and John Starks had an altercation. He
got thrown down to that game.

Speaker 9 (47:58):
We did, We did. But there's been so many games
since then.

Speaker 17 (48:04):
Okay, I mean I believe that game was in ninety
four when that happened, So there's so many games that
have happened since then.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
Okay, but have you when's the Lyne's time you've seen
Johnny Boy?

Speaker 11 (48:18):
Well?

Speaker 9 (48:19):
What, Paul, it's been a while.

Speaker 17 (48:21):
I haven't had a New York game this season at all,
so this will be my first New York game, my
first Knicks game this year, so I haven't seen them
all year.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
Yeah, Paul, you're right.

Speaker 8 (48:31):
This game with Reggie versus Starks is ninety four. You
were doing the Sports Center highlight that night, Dan, and
in the clip, the reporter is asking Reggie how it started,
and andever it was Reggie, did you say thing to me?
Because no, I didn't say anything to him all night goes.

Speaker 3 (48:43):
Come on, come on, there's no way you didn't say
something to him.

Speaker 17 (48:49):
I don't know at all. I was just out there
to have a competitive atmosphere game. And then lo and behold,
you know, he headbuts me. Did I sell a little bit?
Of course, you've got to sit like today.

Speaker 3 (49:06):
They want went to the shoe?

Speaker 9 (49:08):
You know it was marginal contact.

Speaker 17 (49:12):
Listen, what's the marginal contact from Stark's head?

Speaker 9 (49:15):
Buttted me?

Speaker 4 (49:17):
All good?

Speaker 9 (49:18):
Nothing but love, John.

Speaker 17 (49:19):
I'm looking forward to seeing you and all my lovely nicks.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
I'm sure what Marvin.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
Reggie's the greatest trash talker ever. Only because of this
he got Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan to fight him. Basically,
they fought him.

Speaker 17 (49:33):
Yeah again, I was asking about the shoe.

Speaker 9 (49:37):
Yeah, I wondered.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
I was only like you and Kobe were friends, you
worked out together until.

Speaker 9 (49:46):
We have the same attorney.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
And then he stole some of your moves and then
all of a sudden.

Speaker 17 (49:52):
I'm telling you see, I'm always the victim here, you know,
I am always.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Yeah, you are you?

Speaker 2 (50:00):
You are great to have you back Rege, have fun
tonight and then Wednesday night in the Garden.

Speaker 17 (50:06):
I love your Theodore and I love my Dan. It's Marvin,
the best edition, the best edition ever.

Speaker 4 (50:13):
Oh thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (50:15):
You're the only edition like we haven't had any other
editions all.

Speaker 9 (50:18):
Right, but he is the best edition to the Dan net.

Speaker 3 (50:21):
Oh okay, come on, I'm taking the complident. Come on,
take a compliment.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
Reg will be on the call tonight in Denver with
Kevin Harlan, Jamal Crawford and Allie LaForce and then the
Garden Nix and the Pacers on Wednesday night. We'll come back.
Last call for phone calls. What we learn, what's in
