talk to Charles about, including the future of Inside the
NBA on TNT Tailgate Moonshine. We sold out a watermelon

salted caramel, very limited inventory. Get it now at danpatrick
(00:28):
dot com. Look at the dan ats, look at the
back row. If you're watching on Peacock. Thanks for downloading
the app. Guys look awesome. Fritzy with a suit and tie,
Seat and suit and tie, Marvin with a boat tie,
Pauli with a T shirt. Well, I did not challenge you.
(00:52):
I did suggest, you know, maybe we change our look.
Maybe we dress up a little bit. If we're going
to get out of the sportsmy category and we're gonna
go into the daytime Emmys where we're going up against
the View and Kelly Clarkson, and I think we need
to maybe dress it up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Nice job by you guys today. Todd, you look like
a substitute teacher.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I'll take that.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yeah, I didn't think that you could squeeze into a
suit and tie, but you did.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
It took the jaws.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Of life to get me in and probably out of
it later.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, and ladies and gentlemen. The assistant principal Tod Fritz.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
Now, I know your normal teacher's not here, but this
isn't a time to throw paper applanes to get wild.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
Scholars were in for an exciting year. Yeah, eight scholars.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
My substitute teacher was so lazy. They would put up
a word like Thanksgiving on the blackboard. See how many
words you could make out of this big word? And
that was like the whole period, just said make smaller
words from the letters of a long word. And that's
what they would consider that teaching and filling in.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
See what's a seat and look like hmm, I'd say,
somebody who's not comfortable wearing a suit but has to
wear a suit to go to work. Rude, accurate. I'm
gonna say you might be selling insurance. I think I
wear a suit. Well, yes, Pauline, seeing looks like.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
A successful record store owner on his way to a
business meeting. That's the vibe I'm getting and I mean
that a complimentary way.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Yeah, I don't feel like a substitute teacher.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
No, it's like you got a job.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Certain people look like they love wearing a suit and tie.
You have to wear a suit and tie. You kind
of look like that.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
I usually wear a hooded sweatshirt. Yes, just about every
day for the last eighteen years. Marvin got a bow tie.
I'd say, boys to men. Maybe you're you're in the background.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Oh, I'm definitely singing.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Yeah yeah, but you look good.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
And this song's for all the ladies.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Pauline Carvin has a Vegas pit boss.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Look to him.
Speaker 7 (02:57):
Oh the dark colors kind of intense.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Okay, well, once again, feast your eyes on the dan nets. Ladies,
feaste your eyes on danfl It's whoever. Well, yeah, I
mean it's all good. Yeah, not exclusionary. We just enjoy

go up one to zero in the series You got
Tonight Pacers at the Celtics Game two for entertainment purposes
only the Pacers are getting nine against the Celtics, and
despite the loss in Game one, according to DraftKings, Timberwolves
(03:43):
are still big favorites to advance to the NBA Finals.
But last night you had Kyrie going off in the
first half and you had Luca going off in the
fourth quarter. That was enough to and they did a
lot of their damage in the paint, which I'm surprised
to ad because when you think of Minnesota best defensive
team in the NBA, you got the defensive player of
(04:04):
the year, you got basically three seven footers inside, and
Dallas dominated in the paint last night. Surprised with that.
More on that game coming up. More on the Pacers
in the Celtics as well. What do we have seating

Speaker 6 (04:41):
Paul just sent over one best vague excuse for losing
a game.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Quote, it was just not our night.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
Quote we didn't execute the way we wanted to, or
some of us didn't want it enough.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Okay, can you play Anthony Edwards? After last night's came
Anthony Edwards, the twenty two year old Michael Jordan had
this to say.
Speaker 8 (05:02):
Did you think that the high from game seven maybe kind.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Of affected you guys coming in it today at all? Yeah?
For sure.
Speaker 8 (05:09):
I mean I can see it was a little a
step behind everybody, especially myself. Kyrie got a transition layup
from I think we scored and he just outran me.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
I was just exhausted, man. So yeah, for sure. Much
we'll be all right.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Okay, you may think that, but don't say that. You're
twenty two Kyrie after a made basket, took the ball
and went coast to coast and blew by Anthony Edwards.
That's not a good excuse. We ran out of energy,
We're a little tired. Maybe what happened in Denver. I
get it game seven on the road at altitude, but
(05:47):
you were back home Dallas only needed six games to
put away. Oksee, I understand that you're ten years older
or younger than Kyrie Irving. Don't admit that's not a
good excuse. What are the other excuses we have there?
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Seating, it's just not our night, just not our night,
that's the best. Yeah, to be fair, we don't have
you know what, we were just tired on the list.
We don't have that. But you rarely hear that one.
Are athletes not allowed to be tired.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
If you're twenty two? Yeah, I'm going to say no.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
If we've been praising you for your athleticism, you're the
next Michael Jordan. And then you tell me that Kyrie,
who's ten years older than you, blew by you coast
to coast. I have a little bit of a like
it could happen one time. But then he said, well
we might be tired. Yes, don't we.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
Expect athletes to leave it all out there every single night? Yes,
would imply exhausting all of your physical abilities.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Maybe he's exhausted from exhausting all of his physical abilities.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Correct.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
Yeah, yeah, I'm just saying I don't think you admit
to that. Yeah, I don't know that you do. I
don't think you're too you are too young to do it.
But actually it's probably worse to do it when you're old,
when you're aging, and you're like, you know, we were
just exhausted out there, be like yeah, because you're too old.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Okay, imagine if any other player said this aka KD Lebron,
there we go. Hell, how much would we be crushing
them today? You know, maybe we're just tired, Maybe we're
just old. It feels like with ant Man, the way
he says something like it doesn't sound as bad because
he's so entertaining when he's delivering it, working on his
(07:37):
Kevin Hart delivery.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
You know.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Yeah, it's like if some people say they're exhausted, it's
definitely worse than others. Like if Ad was like, man,
we were.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Just exhausted, be like, oh my god, you shut up.
Play the game.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
You're right?
Speaker 6 (07:49):
Yeah, Like I would have no patience for it whatsoever.
What other pole questions do we have today? Well, you know,
now it's the age of hey, I'll take all the blame.
Somebody's always taken the blame after the game, and sometimes
it's the coach, like Rick Carlisle, he's got this on me,
And then Tyre's Halliburton goes, now, no, I know what
coach is trying to do. You know, is coach saying
(08:11):
we didn't execute the way we wanted to tonight, Or is
coach saying some of us didn't want it enough. Oh damn,
one of those feels more player worthy the other one.
Or how about you know, we just weren't prepared. Oh,
that's a coach that I didn't do a good job
preparing the guests.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I didn't do a good job. Yes, this one's on me. Yeah. Literally,
your only job is to prepare them for the game.
Fired that's your job, especially during football season.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
You guys had seven days to do this.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
It's the worst anything else.
Speaker 9 (08:41):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Well, with the the series up one, Oh who do
you like to win?
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Now?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Has that shifted at all?
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Well?
Speaker 2 (08:47):
I like Dallas, but I you know it's going to
be a coin toss. Really, I think it's going seven games.
The thing that I was looking at there are a
couple of things they scored in the paint, which was
really surprising. Dallas outscored Minnesota ten three in the final
three and a half minutes to pull out that win. Also,
(09:08):
the Mavericks outscored Minnesota sixty two to thirty eight in
the paint.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
That's incredible.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Stead of a.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Day, stall of a day, Statuta day, stant outa day.
This is the start of the day.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
But Luca and Kyrie combined for sixty three. They scored
in the paint and ant Man didn't play great. Minnesota
didn't play great, and they only lost by three points.
I expect them to win Game two, but you know,
seeing the it didn't feel like there was this sense
(09:53):
of urgency that they had against Denver. It's almost like,
all right, we're at home, We'll win this game and
then worry about the rest of the series. And then
all of a sudden, Kyrie comes out and was unbelievable
at twenty four in the first town.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Here is Kyrie after the game.
Speaker 9 (10:12):
We've been able to figure out that one two punch
of just playing a point guard role, playing that main
scorers role, and just not lacking in other areas in
the basketball game. You know, he can do other things.
I could do other things other than scoring. So when
it's his time to score, it's my time to play
defense and get up in my guy and contest shots
and continue to do the little things that get us wins.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
All right, you know this could be one of those
coming out parties for Kyrie because one of the most
talented players ever played the game. But we might look
at him when it's all said and done the way
we do Aaron Rodgers. They kind of brought controversy, they
brought attention. They've got one title each. Now you can't
(10:54):
deny the talent with either one of these players. But
Aaron's got one Super Bowl. Kyrie's got an NBA title,
and he hit the biggest shot he won. He won
the finals with the shot over Steph Curry. But here's
a guy who's never been First Team All NBA. When
you watch him sometimes I always go why didn't he
(11:14):
do that all the time? Or why doesn't it work
with other teams? You know, we know what happened in Cleveland.
He wanted it to be his team. It was his team.
Lebron comes back. Now it's not his team. They win
a title. Now he wants to have his team. He
goes to the young Boston Celtics. It does not work
out there, Brooklyn. He tried to create his own team.
Him and KD didn't work out there. Dallas gets him
(11:36):
for pennies on the dollar, and all of a sudden,
he's trying to figure out exactly how to make this
work with Luca, which is not easy because Luca ball
dominant and Kyrie's just trying to fill in the area
there of what do you need me to do?
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Game to game?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
And he's done a wonderful job, probably an underrated job.
I think we get caught up in his comments and
therefore you know he's probab probably turned off a lot.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
Of NBA fans.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
I gotta be fair to him when I watch him
on the floor, whether I like what he said off
the floor, I got to assess him and what I see,
and he's played really, really well, and it's been quiet,
all quiet on the Western front, and now here they
are three wins away from playing in the NBA Finals
and it might be one of those coming out parties again.
Speaker 10 (12:24):
Yes, Mark, do you think when Kyrie was young and
he won the title, when he's maybe twenty four years old,
he said, I can go somewhere else and play with
another superstar, and wing do you think he got to
the point where it's like, man, this is harder than
I thought. And so now with Luca, he's like, I
can't squander this opportunity because look how long it took
me to get back even to the conference finals.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yeah, I think that's a fair assessment of it. But
you know, I don't know if we've ever had Kyrie
on I don't know him. I've read articles about him,
but I don't know what his mindset is. I don't
know if basketball. Sometimes you're so good at something that
you don't have to Like Kyler Murray, he was so
good at football in high school. They didn't lose, really
good in college.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Then all of a.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Sudden you get to the pros and it's like, I'm talented,
but they're talented too. Now is when you have to work.
Kyrie's been so talented, what did he play eight or
nine games at Duke? And then he's the number one
draft pick and then it looked like it came easy
to him. And then you win when you're young, and
then all of a sudden, you're like, I want my
(13:25):
own team. And then you go to Boston that was
a young nucleus there. I mean, imagine if Kyrie was
able to keep it together with that Boston unit, then
he goes to Brooklyn.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
He's going to hook up with KD. They're going to
create their own super team.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
And that doesn't work out and then all of a sudden,
it's like he's in no man's land and Dallas is
probably not his last stop. But what he's doing right
now is really impressive and it should be recognized as
being very impressive. He plays when he's on who he
does things nobody else does.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
Yes, it feels like this series is gonna have one
of two storylines play out. Either the Mavericks win and
it's like, well, hey, look, I mean, if either one
of those two guys gets hot, you can't stop that team,
or they're gonna lose, and it's gonna be like, well, hey,
you can't win it with just those two guys. You
need a third guy.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
To step up. It's one of those two storylines is
going to happen.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yes, But I don't believe that you need the third person.
I think you need the fourth and fifth and sixth person.
You need a team. And that's the difference, doubt. You know,
if you look at Denver last year, they had two
and then they had three or four, and then they
didn't have it this year and they weren't a great team.
(14:44):
Dallas I think has a pretty good team. I mean,
and I say that, you know, with emphasis on team.
They have a group of players who seem to be
playing really, really well. Minnesota, though giving up the points
in the pain when Rudy got this. This has not
been a good postseason for Rudy Gobert. When it comes
to you're the defensive player of the Year, I am,
(15:06):
but it's more of a team award, which it is.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
It is. Unless you're on ball, it's me against.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
You, Gary Payton or Jordan you know, then I'm going
to play defense on you. It's not reliant on somebody
behind me. Because nobody was afraid of Bill Cartwright or
Bill Wennington going to the hoop. But when it's on
ball defender, it's hard to find those guys. But Rudy Gobert,
(15:34):
I mean, I got to change my philosophy here, at
least for Game two.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
Yeah, Paulie, you know, I know Gobert didn't have a
big night and they lost. He had I think twelve
points and two blocks. He may lead the league in
we need a new stat discouragements. Tim Hardaway Junior took
it to the rim and saw Gobert there and just
kept on driveling to the left. And that happens to
wem Benyama.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Sometimes I would say, wem ben Yama leads the league
in discourage. H he's He's first team all discouragement because.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
People going to go, no, thank you, I'm discouraging you. No, no,
you are?
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Yes, you will? You need any stat Yeah? Yeah. The
All NBA team was announced as well. We'll talk about
that and are who is going to be? Who is
going to be the first eighty million dollars a year
player in the NBA. I think the name might surprise you.
(16:23):
Have that coming up. We'll settle on poll question phone calls.
Always welcome Charles Barkley in the Future of the NBA
on TNT.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
That'll be next hour. Take a break back after this.

to this yea, Paulie and Tony, your sports takes are
the dumbest and most terrible.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
That wait, why open this other one year?
Speaker 11 (17:07):
Paulie and Tony, you suck more than anyone.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Wait, try this one.
Speaker 11 (17:11):
Dear Paulie and Tony, you guys are the absolute best.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Yeah, he's Charles Barkley, Hall of Famer tnt Insigne the
NBA joining his son the program.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
How's morale? Charles?
Speaker 12 (17:35):
Well, two things, Dan. Number one, Mercedes is a great car. Okay,
but don't bud it if you can't afford it. Let's
get that out the way, all right, Only get a
MERCEDA Mercedes is an amazing car. I've had a few
in my life. Don't buy it unless you can afford it.
Stop trying to impress other people Morele sucks, plain and simple. No,
(17:57):
I just feel so bad for the people I work with.
Then you know, you know these people have families, and
I just really feel bad for them, right, now you know,
these people I work with, they screwed this thing up clearly,
and we don't have zero I do. What's going to happen?
I don't feel good. I'm not gonna lie. Especially when
they came out yesterday and said we bought college football.
(18:21):
I was like, well, damn, they could have used that
money they buy the NBA.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
But it says that TNT Sports added college football playoff
games and a five year deal they're licensing deal with ESPN.
Maybe that's why they're buying this because they don't, you know,
the money they were going to use on the NBA.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
They got to do something with.
Speaker 12 (18:46):
Yeah, that's what That's the first thing came to my mind.
We've never had college football, that never been involved with
college football, and I'm like, wait a minute, shouldn't we
be spending every dime we got to keep the NBA?
So morale sucks.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Honest with you, Dan, I was wondering about this.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I don't know if you guys have talked about this,
but you and Shaq and Kenny and Ernie, how about
just form a production company and continue to shoot, continue
to do the inside the NBA, hire the personnel, keep
the personnel there. Continue to do it in Atlanta and
then you're able to sell that to NBC or Amazon
(19:23):
and say here, you already got the best studio show
ready to go. Keep everybody in place. But you guys
own your own production company.
Speaker 12 (19:32):
Well, I've talked to the guys about everybody sign up
with my production company because I have my own production
company and I want to I would love to do
that if we lose it. But I have definitely had Actually,
somebody suggested that to me, to be honest with you
on the internet. So why don't you all barclet sign
these three guys, four guys total, this his production company
(19:55):
and sell it. I'm like, that's a great idea. Yeah,
But like I say, you know, sitting back waiting on
these people to figure out what they're gonna do. You know,
you know, my two favorite wines are Ingle Nook and Opus.
And these clowns I work for they've turned us into
Ripple and Boone's Farm and Thunderberg. Like we got the
(20:16):
best studio show. We won, we just and it's so funny.
We just want the best studio show. But these foods
turned us from Inglenook and Opah's into Damn Boone Farm
and Ripple.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
It's crazy, you're actually angry.
Speaker 12 (20:30):
I am, you know, Dan, it's so interesting. I've been
spending a lot of time with the crew lately. I've
actually they've been with these guys who I spent time with.
Their they bring their new borns in, they bring their
kids in. They'd come in like when they were in
high school, and now they're graduating form college. I mean,
(20:52):
that's how long.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
You know.
Speaker 12 (20:53):
Ernie's been there thirty two years, Kenny's been there twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
I've been there twenty four. But think about that.
Speaker 12 (20:58):
Some of these people I work with, they bought their
new boys there and they say, hello, old of us.
They bought them in high school when they graduated, and
now they've already graduated from college. So yeah, I'm angry
people who, like, you know, they're part of my family,
to be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
So and I feel bad for those guys.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Yea, But how did you guys screw it up? How
did tant mess this up?
Speaker 9 (21:20):
Well?
Speaker 12 (21:20):
I think the first thing is, you know, they came
out and said we didn't need the NBA. So I
think that probably pissed Adam off. I don't know that,
but I'm saying like you don't because you know, when
we merged, that's the first thing our boss said, we
don't need the NBA. But he don't need it, but
the rest of the people meet Kenny, Shack and Ernie
and the people who worked there, we need it. So
(21:43):
it just sucks right now. And you know the thing
that's interesting me Kenny Ernie talk about it in Shack
all the time, like people walk up to me. I'm
not even joking. Twenty times a day, I'm like, dude,
thank you for the kind words, but I have a
zero idea what's going to happen?
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, hey, you know it's funny, like you can't go anywhere.
Speaker 12 (22:04):
And then what's really frustrating, I'm getting we all are
getting sent like five seven articles a day about we've
already lost it or we own life support. TNT's trying
to fourth quarter comeback, and I don't know Bill Simmons,
who you know, a big Bill Simmons fan, he's sending me,
(22:26):
He's sending they're sending us articles like it's already they've
already lost it, it's made it, it's over with. I
was listening to Mad Dog Russo the other day. He's like, oh,
the deal's over with, it's already going to NBC. So
I don't know what to believe. So it sucks for
the people, for all of us.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Talking to Charles Barkley, the Hall of Famer TNT's inside
the NBA, let me start with last night Kyrie Irving.
You know, he's had a quietly great year, like quite
off the court, played well on the court, and it's
almost like this resurgence may be with Kyrie that now
we kind of rediscover his basketball talents there.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
What do you see when you see Kyrie now?
Speaker 12 (23:09):
Well, I think it's great that people seeing what a
great player he is instead of all the stuff that
was going on when he was in Brooklyn and things
like that, because he's an unbelievable player.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
You know. You know, Dan, I'm really glad.
Speaker 12 (23:23):
I went back and looked at a bunch of tape
on my two off days and said, you know, because
I was caught up in the excitement, I said, man
in Minnesota, Minnesota, Minnesota. But then when I went back
and looked at take for two days, I was like, damn,
the man's gonna win this series. And I still think
they're gonna win this series. They got a lot of
severe matchup. If big guys. Was scary about that game
(23:44):
last night is they didn't make any shots. I think
they were six or like thirty from three. They're gonna
get wide open threes because my biggest considered a Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
They got two issues that I don't like.
Speaker 12 (23:57):
Number One, I don't think they can guard a good
three points shooting team because they played those two big guys.
And secondly, Carl Anthon Town was a very good player.
I don't think he ever used his size to his advantage.
I think he shoots. I think he waits, always shoot
two minute threes because he's the only player in the
NBA gonna have a size advantage every night.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Every night he plays.
Speaker 12 (24:20):
Is he playing at for a position, He's gonna have
a size advantage every single night. But he I saw
him post up more against Denver and against the Sons,
and I've ever seen him in his career, and he
was very effective. But last night he went back to
the guy that drives me crazy. He shot nine threes
and I'm like, damn, dude, you're seven feet tall.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
The guy you're playing against his six seven. Every time
you shoot the three.
Speaker 12 (24:44):
He's like, thank God, I ain't got the I ain't
got to wrestle with this guy in the post.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
So that's why I like the MAVs.
Speaker 12 (24:52):
And but I tell you what, you know, the Celtics, man,
they really missed Porzos Gonzingers because because whatever his name is,
because they really miss him because he's the only guy
who posts up and he's the only one who shrinks
the floor for Jalen and Jason because you have to
guard him the whole time. So that's going to be
a really good series. Rick Carlile and the Patis have
(25:15):
done a hell of a job. And they gave a
game away. Man, I was so pissed watching that game
the other night. They fled out, gave that game away. Well,
you know, back to Dallas. I was surprised that they
dominated in the paint. Dallas dominated Minnesota in the paint.
They outscored them sixty two to thirty eight in the paint.
(25:35):
So you got those big guys, but they don't play big.
It doesn't matter how big you're off, you don't play big.
And the way they play defense, they play that drop
where the guy just bags up. You know what it's like.
It's like when I'm betting on football. And your team
gets the lead and they play that damn prevent defense
and the other team gets a back door cover. That
(25:57):
pisses that day, and that pisses me off. I'm from
watching football. I'm like, good, we got the league. We
can't lose the game. All we got to do is
stop him one more time. And they play that prevent defense.
I call it prevent from winning. And when the guy drops,
when the guy drops, he's useless. He does nothing. He
(26:18):
don't stop either play. He doesn't stop the lob and
he don't stop Luca or Kyrie from scoring. Now, the
problem that Wolve's gotten now is they're probably gonna double
that going forward because you know, in every game you
make adjustment. Now, what that's gonna do is open up
Dallas three point shooting. They didn't make any in Game one,
but they gonna get the same shots they got in
(26:40):
Game two they got in Game one.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Just saw this.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
The Cavaliers have fired their head coach, JB. Bicker Steph.
I guess far.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
He had a nice season, you know what.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 12 (26:54):
I'm so disgusted with these punk ass NBA players today.
The same thing, having the Arnham and Frank Vogel. You know,
it's always somebody else's fault. It's Bernie his dad. Bernie
is a great guy. But he didn't deserve to get fired.
You know they wait, his second best player was out,
(27:17):
you know, so man, this is the NBA today. The
players take no responsibility, zero responsibility. But that's the third
fire and like Frank Vogel, Darwnham and now bicker Step.
But you know, you know when I when I interviewed
for a couple jobs, uh for a general manager, I
wanted complete control.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Wait wait, wait, wait, hold on, when did you when's
the last time you interviewed for I've.
Speaker 12 (27:43):
Interviewed for three front office jobs in the last not
It's been probably about five to seven years. But I
want a complete control because I know because as a
general manager or president of basketball operations, you get to
fire like four guys before people realize you have problem.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
I do, I do, I think. I think.
Speaker 12 (28:03):
I think being a president or the gym is the
best job because you're the one who picking the players
and you're the one who making trades. But I think
you get to scapegoat at least three, more likely four
coaches because people never say, say, who put this crappy
ass team together? They it's easier to fire the coach
(28:25):
and you get to hide out behind closed doors. So
that's like when I like, when I in the interview
for those jobs, I'm like, yeah, this is a job
I want because I got great job security. Before people realize, like, wait,
you're the head coach. You get away with murder. You
get to make all these bad trades and bad decisions.
(28:46):
But if you fire the coach, the kind of shock
clok like starts on you again. So that's the best
job in sports, being a gym in the NBA or
president of basketball operations.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
What were the teams that you interviewed with.
Speaker 12 (28:57):
I'd rather not say that because I don't want people
to know I was talking about coaches behind their back.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
To be honest with.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
You, okay, what about if somebody said, right now to you.
Speaker 12 (29:06):
Do you want it's probably too It's probably too late
for me now. It's probably too late because I want
to do that in my fifties.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
I'm six.
Speaker 12 (29:13):
I just turned sixty one, so I probably wouldn't do
it now. To be honest with you, well, shit, I
might not have a job That's what I'm saying. You
got a lot of free time perhaps coming up.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Hey you know what, then, Hey, I love you Dan.
Speaker 12 (29:27):
You know, when I put my resume on Lincoln the
other day, they call me back and says, you've never
had a real job.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
I said, you don't have a resume.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I don't.
Speaker 12 (29:36):
That's what I said when I put When I put
my touff on Lincoln the other day, They're like, have
you ever had like a real job?
Speaker 3 (29:42):
I said, nope.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Waite when you're growing up, did you work like at
Dairy Queen or Pizza Hut or any of those places.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
No.
Speaker 12 (29:51):
I'm in a small town then a couple thousand people.
There's no dairy Queen and none all that stuff in Leeds, Alabama.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
I've never you know.
Speaker 12 (29:58):
That's what's really funny and lucky and bliss. I want
to make that player. I've actually never had a real job. Man,
Can you believe that?
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Good for you?
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Good for you? Lucky? Hey, I'm lucky.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Yeah, you're going to go wire to wire without having
a job in your life.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
I was going to ask you, I hope.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
So the five I could make an argument the five
best players in the world are not from the United States, right,
so I could. I could give you Luca, I could
give you Yo Kich, I could give you Giannis, I
could give you Shay Gilgis and I could give you
Joe l Mbt well easily.
Speaker 12 (30:33):
And you know what's funny about that. I've been pushing
the NBA for the last you know, the All Star
Game sucks. I've been pushing for the last probably seven years,
the United States against the world.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Are there enough good players?
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Though?
Speaker 2 (30:49):
With the world? Now, I gave you five. I got
to get about.
Speaker 12 (30:53):
You didn't mention Rudy Gobert. He's not from this country.
Who else I'm trying to think, I see that's the problem.
I think are top heavy. Yeah, we are top heavy,
but you know there's some other players. I mean, I
don't have the list in front of me. But you know,
like I say, Pastor, yes, Pastor, Lauri Marketing, Laurie.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
Marketing, we have to step we up to.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
I mean, think about it, Dan, we got seven round.
Speaker 12 (31:26):
You know what I think the NBA is afraid of
that the United States would lose.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I know I do. I say, Yo, man, the All
Star Game sucks.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
So I could get like Franz Wagner.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Oh yeah, both of the Wagner brothers.
Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah, sure, they're all stars now.
Speaker 12 (31:42):
Then joh, come on, man, we got him, know I
think I think, I think Adam. You know, I love Adam.
I love him a lot. He's a great dude, Adam.
But I think they're afraid the United States would lose.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
This goes back to you guys in the Dream Team,
because if I go back that this is thirty two
years ago for the Dream Team and the impact that
it had. And I remember David Stern saying that to
me that this will this is about globalization. This is
our best players the world will be able to play
against our best players and then it will force them
(32:17):
to go back to improve.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
And it turned out to be true.
Speaker 12 (32:21):
Well, that's why I think David Stern is the greatest
commissioner ever.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
He made the NBA what it is today. It's a
global game.
Speaker 12 (32:29):
You know, when we go overseas and play, there's fifty
thousand people in these arenas. That's the genius of David Stearns.
He made to you know, when I talked you know,
it's so crazy. You know, one of my favorite people
all time is Durt Nviitski and we had him on
the show a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
He was great.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
He was great. He's just a.
Speaker 12 (32:48):
Great person though, And he was telling his story that
the reason he wears forty one is because of me,
because you know, on the Dream Team, I had number
fourteen and Robert Pack giving fourteen, so he wore forty one.
And he told me and I knew the story, and
Dirk like, I said, Dirk Man, it was.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Just a good dude.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
And you tried to get him to Auburn, didn't you.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
I did. I tried to. Well, you know, it's so funny.
Speaker 12 (33:14):
We were playing like Nike had always taken us to
different countries every year, and Dirk's got like thirty one
at halftime against us, like we.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
NBA players, we're all not prime. He's got I said, Yo, man,
who's damn skinned white dude?
Speaker 12 (33:28):
He just got like thirty thirty one at halftime, and
Scott and Pippen like I got him in the second half,
I got him and Dirk fins are like fifty and
I was like, yo, man, who the hell out you?
And he just like I'm dirting the biscuit. Blah blah blah,
he said. I said, yo, man, how much money you
want to come to Auburn. He's like, he's like, I
gotta go in the army. I said, oh man, you
(33:48):
should be tall and not going in the army. And uh,
I got I got all this contact and everything, and
Nik called me like a couple months later and like
he got drafted and I was like, oh man, that
I would have loved him at Alburn.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
But I don't want to see you, n I l
before NI l Hey, brother.
Speaker 12 (34:10):
I just want I just I just want to offer
to be good. Can you imagine I didn't even mind
Dirk breaking all my records. He would have been great
at Auburn. Yeah, you know, we know what's crazy. And
I hate to say this about the guy because he
was a really good dude, but he passed away Robert
tractor trailer. People don't even realize is that the man
didn't even draft Dirk. And if you look at it,
(34:32):
and that's probably going to go down. Like I said,
Robert was a great kid and a good player. But
if you look at it from a serious standpoint, that's
probably going to go down as one of the worst
trades ever. You know, that's going to go down as
one of the worst trade evers. But Robert was a
good dude. I hate talked back and he passed away
a few years ago. A good dude, good player. But
trading Robert tracktor trailer for dirt nubisky is going to
(34:55):
go down. That's got to be one of the worst
trades in the history of civilization.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Well, you also had the one the Celtics did with.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Was that Joe Barry Carroll and they ended up getting
Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale for Joe Barry Carroll.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Yeah, that's a bad one too, That's a real bad one.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Also, the Sixers, they're what they got for you when
they traded you to Phoenix.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
That wasn't very good.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
They got four good players.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
Mmmm. Nice, you're being You're being friendly, complimentary.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Damn, they got four players. Whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
He may need a few more good ones though, Yeah. Yeah,
uh So what do you do today on an off
day in Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (35:37):
Dan, I need to talk to you about your show.
You got to start doing your show later. I'm not
used to getting up early. I would, Dan, I want
to tell you that before. Like, damn, Dan, I'm only
up this early, gonna say I'm going right back to bed. Okay,
but no, so I got to do your show. I
(35:57):
gotta do two podcasts I got. I'm one of my
friends from Philly is a guy named Mike Missanelli. I'm
gonna do his podcast. And I got a girl from Phoenix.
Her name is Cameron. I'm doing a podcast with her.
And then, uh, I got two friends I got to
get together with today, Jesse Ventura. I got another friend
who lives in named Ezra. I hope I pronounced his name.
(36:21):
Ezra is a really good friend of mine.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
I forget. I keep pronounced his name name good to
a rello.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
I think his name is he's a really good friend,
but you can't pronounce his name.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 12 (36:34):
I call it you know, you know, I think that
he's some mooing like he's defensive. Ezra is easy. Who
in the hell is calling my room?
Speaker 3 (36:52):
Now?
Speaker 12 (36:52):
No?
Speaker 3 (36:53):
See this is this is somebody. I don't know this.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
You're under an aliens alias.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Okay, well, like, and my phone never rings in the room.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Could it be Shack?
Speaker 12 (37:03):
No Shaq, No, no, Shaq would call he? First of all,
I have to I have to tell Shaq all the time.
The dudes don't face time each other. He always face
times to me. I'm like, dude, we're men. Men don't
face time each other. That's stuff women do. Men don't
face time each other.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
You know who does that all the time is Dan Levittard.
Oh I love Dan. You know, you know I love dying.
His mom is the sweetest lady in the world. His
dad or fat ass dad. Yeah, I want every time
I see him, I want to punch him in the face.
Speaker 12 (37:35):
I do, But his mom. His mom is a saint.
Miss Lord is a saint. But his fat ass daddy
he takes shots to me all the time. I just
want to punch him in the face. I really want
to punch him in the face.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Wait, you want to punch him in the face? Or
skip baylists? If he had to.
Speaker 12 (37:53):
Choose, Oh man, that's ass to like me to choose
between oak me or raisin and white chocolate macadamia cookies,
both of my two favorite cookies in the world. White
chocolate macadamia or oatmeal. Damn, it'd probably be Ski Bayless. Okay,
I'm gonna go with the white chocolate macadamia. That's the
(38:15):
best cookie ever created of it.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Have nobody?
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Thank you for getting them. Thank you for getting them.
Speaker 12 (38:22):
No, Dan, you know I got man. I'm telling you, man,
you know I got love for you, and thank you.
Thank you for having me tell them nerves you worked
with nerds.
Speaker 4 (38:31):
Charles says, Hello, yeah, Way.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Who else you got on the show today?
Speaker 8 (38:35):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Just really you?
Speaker 3 (38:39):
Wait? Dan, who else you got on the show today?
Just you?
Speaker 2 (38:43):
That's okay, that's how good you are standalone. I don't
want anybody to go. I don't know if it was
Charles who said it, or you know, if it was
Steve Smith who said it. I don't know if it
was Chris Webber or no.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
Just you.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Hey, Dan, we got the four guys you were traded for.
Will join this next hour?
Speaker 12 (39:02):
Hey Dan, if you want me to buy your drinks
and take you to dinner, you better get to me
soon while I still got a job. But after that,
I'm not bad anything in a drinks or dinner once
I get fired.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Fair enough, fair enough, thank you, Chuck.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Of course, brother be saying.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
That's Charles Barkley. We'll take a break.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app spend some.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Time last hour with Charles Barkley. He's still not sure
what the future of inside the NBA on TNT is.
This man can give us better insights. Mike McCarthy, senior
reporter for Front Office Sports columnists for Tuned In Sports Media.
Mike joins us on the program. We keep hearing that
the deals aren't done yet, that TNT still has a
(39:53):
chance to keep the NBA rights.
Speaker 4 (39:55):
Can you update us well, Dan, I.
Speaker 13 (39:58):
Think the game is baut on the ten yard line now.
It's certainly heading in the direction of NBC and Amazon
picking up the rights while ESPN keeps package. On the
other hand, T and T still has matching rights, and
there hasn't been an official offer to match yet, so
we're still kind of in a waiting stage. I don't
(40:18):
think it's going to happen this week, you know, certainly
before Memorial Day. But it is close. But as they say,
you know, close only kemmentson horseshoes and hand grenades, so
we're not there yet.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
I was wondering, and I brought this up to Charles.
Could they just start their own production company and continue
to shoot the NBA and have it in Atlanta. Everybody
stays there. You know, I have the crew that stays,
and then you outsource that to NBC.
Speaker 13 (40:45):
Then I love that idea. I mean, get creative. You know,
we're at a time right now where the talent is
flexing and going independent, following the model set by yourself
years ago and more recently by Pat McAfee and Steven
A with his own production company. So I think it's
a fantastic idea. As a matter of fact, the first
time I heard the idea was from your own producer Paul,
(41:06):
who tweeted it out weeks ago. So I think, if
you know, Sir Charles, does this to your show, should
get a Finders feed.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Okay, So this hasn't been finalized yet, but I'm looking
at the bigger picture with the NBA, with we're going
to have an eighty million dollars a year player by
the year twenty thirty shake Gilgess Alexander, by projections, will
top out a eighty one million dollars in his final year.
How is this sustainable with players making sixty seventy eighty
(41:38):
million and how long will it be before we have
a one hundred million dollar player?
Speaker 13 (41:44):
I think it's sustainable because you've got these big streaming
companies coming in. Everybody's looking at them. Dan is the
sugar daddies who are going to pay for these, you know,
huge media rights that maybe the traditional broadcasters can't afford anymore.
The NBA is a global league, so it gets global mediaites.
I mean, one of the things that people don't realize
(42:04):
about Amazon is Amazon's already in business with the NBA.
They've got the NBA in Brazil, so they have a
relationship that goes back years. So I think people are
trying to bet on these big streamers as the future
sugar daddies of the sport.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
If Charles Barkley becomes a free agent, finish that sentence, most.
Speaker 13 (42:27):
Expensive, most sought after free agent in sports television history,
And I'd love to see his LinkedIn profile because it
should say that the funniest, most entertaining analyst in history.
By the way, it was a great interview, Charles was
off the hook and everybody would go after him. ESPN
has been lusting after the Chuckster for twenty years. Amazon
(42:50):
would back up the Bronx truck, NBC, everybody would want him.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
I wonder though, how his style what he says his
opinions would play on ESPN ABC since they've had a
lot of turmoil at ESPN with people saying things not
being politically correct or going against company policy here.
Speaker 13 (43:12):
Yeah, I think Jimmy Pittaro is loosening the rains there, Dan.
I mean when I look at some of the things
that McAfee gets away with, I can't believe it. I mean,
he took a shot at Norby. You know Norby, here's
one of those powerful guys in sports for forty years.
He took him down. It's on ESPN's own air. I
think you know they've welcomed Charles with open arms. Even
(43:33):
Stephen A said on his show last night he does
not want to see inside the NBA go off the air.
It's just too good.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
How good a month as the WNBA hen fantastic.
Speaker 13 (43:45):
Caitlin Clark has brought all sorts of new viewers, ratings
or up attendances up. And I'll tell you, Dan, what's
really important for the WNBA is the timing of this.
They're also going for their own media deal right now
along with the NBA, So I think Kathy Engelbird is
going to be able to double triple the rights fees
that they used to get because the right speed they're
(44:06):
getting right now, frankly are a joke.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Well also, and I don't know if you can liken this.
I don't know if it's apples to apples. When Gretzky
came to the La Kings, Caitlin Clark going to the
w NBA, it's like now they talk of expansion. Now
you have other cities that say, we'd like to be
in the WNBA business. Just like when Wayne came to
the Kings, there were a lot of cities, you know,
your southern you're Florida teams they wanted to have, you know,
(44:31):
hockey franchises because Wayne Gretzky was.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
You know, in the in the United States.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
You're right.
Speaker 13 (44:37):
I mean I was living in LA you know, twenty
thirty years ago when you know, he revolutionized the sport
and all of a sudden, you know, kids who never
heard of hockey, you know, wanted to play ice hockey.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
So you're right.
Speaker 13 (44:48):
One player can have that kind of seismic impact on
a sport in a league, and I think you're seeing
it right now At Caitlyn.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Clark, we've also looked at it and looks like the
commissioner would be toying with if there's an eighteen game schedule,
then we get to President's weekend, then you get that
holiday off, and we've been saying that for years.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
It makes sense.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
The commissioner says, well, maybe you know a worried about
player safety, let's get rid of a couple of preseason games,
and then you could add the eighteenth. Well, those two
aren't connected in my opinion, because the first two playoff
games are preseason games. Your stars don't play, and you
know they try not to play in those games. It'll
have nothing to do with player safety with the players.
(45:27):
You really are counting on an eighteenth game. That to me,
that seems like it's a lot more serious than getting
rid of two preseason games.
Speaker 4 (45:35):
But you see this as inevitable.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
The fact that the commissioner is talking about this now though, Mike,
That's where it feels like, let me put it out there,
let me get the reaction here, and they usually do that.
It's a trial balloon.
Speaker 13 (45:48):
Yeah, I mean, what the NFL wants, the NFL usually gets.
Don It's just the way it is. I mean, look
at the way they just steamrolled in the NBA on
Christmas Day, NBA control Christmas Day. Good comes along and says, nope,
not anymore. Look how they just create rights at of
thin air? Like these Netflix game Did you see that day?
They didn't hold those games at somebody's existing package, sold
(46:11):
them to Netflix for one hundred and fifty million dollars
and told their loyal partners screw you. So what the
NFL wants they get.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
But also if you look at let's say they get
to eighteen games, let's say they push push it back
the super Bowl. Now, they're going to affect the NBA
All Star Game as well. So if I'm Adam Silver,
I at least place a phone call to the commissioner,
Roger Goodell and say, Roger, can we kind of coexist
here without you guys, you know, dominating us taking away
(46:39):
our Christmas Day now moving our old Star Game.
Speaker 13 (46:43):
But the one good thing is that if that happens, Dan,
the super Bowl might be moved to President's Day weekend
and we can all get a day off after Super
Bowl Sunday. But I think it was Barkley himself, whom
centered on your show years ago, that I think he
was right on the money. He said the NBA should
start on Christmas Day, you know, move the season, try
to you know, avoid the NFL as much as possible.
(47:04):
Start the regular season on Christmas Day. And I think
there was a great idea of years ago and I
think it still is.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
No, Mike, what Charles is saying is he doesn't work
those first couple of months and he gets to start
on Christmas Day. You got to understand where it's coming from.
Charles doesn't want to work. Hey, why don't we start
on Christmas Day?
Speaker 4 (47:23):
All right? He doesn't want to work?
Speaker 13 (47:26):
Yeah, yeah, he stry for twenty years right there?
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Oh, I know, I know, never had a job. Hey, Mike,
thank you for joining us as always, great work.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Thank you. Dan.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
That's Michael McCarthy. He's a senior reporter front office sports.
Also commonness were tuned in sports media. Can you imagine
Charles on the open market what he would get paid
now if he went to the Mothership. So if you're
going to pay him, I think Charles makes what double
figures ten to thirteen million dollars maybe somewhere around there.
Speaker 4 (47:58):
You're probably.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
I mean, if I'm Charles, I would say, let's start
with Tony Romo money let me just start there, and
then you know, I'll be able to be on different
shows for you. You'll be able to monetize that. You know,
I'll be on McAfee, I'll be on you know, Get Up,
First Take, I'll be on the manning, you know, whatever
(48:21):
you need me to do. Let's start with Tony Romo
money and see where we go from there, and then
he'll be part of the NBA team.
Speaker 9 (48:29):
You know.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
The problem is and I worked on the NBA show
at ESPN, and we spent all that time trying to
create what TNT had, And I remember saying in a
meeting with management, we don't have Charles, because this is
before Shack got there. I said, we don't have Charles.
(48:52):
There is no Charles, and you're trying to create something.
And I remember my thought was, can we be sort
of smart, analytical, you know, something different than what TNT
was doing. They're entertaining, you know, sometimes they'll be analytical,
but can we be something different? And you know, it
(49:14):
was a big challenge there. It's still a challenge because
when you see ESPN's NBA show, you immediately go it's
not as good as TNT. Well, nothing is TNT is
going to go down as one of the great great
show shows, not just sports shows of all time. To
do what they do, how they do it, with the
(49:36):
characters they have there, the consistency they have there, and
they haven't sloughed off.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
They just won the Sports Emmy.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
But you can't create Shack and you can't create like
they're trying to make Draymond Green a personality. All right,
he's okay, but he's not Shack. He's not Charles. I mean, Kenny,
you can replicate. Ernie is so good at being so subtle.
(50:06):
It is so nuanced. There's nobody like Ernie Johnson. He
does it in a way that he doesn't have to
get his hands dirty. He can kind of create a
little bit of chaos in the sandbox and let Shack
and Charles go at one another.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
But these are.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
Really real, Like Pardon the Interruption is one of the
great shows of all time. Now, it spawned a lot
of debate, So I have a problem with what Tony
and Mike did, but they do it and they still
do it great. You know Sports Center, when we were there,
we changed sportscasting, we changed how you do a highlight show.
(50:43):
Those are shows that will live on forever in people's
memory of those were incredible shows, and they're sports shows
and what you know they've done with the TNT Show,
certainly what they did with Pardon the Interruption, and even
you know what Sports Center used to be.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Yeah, yeah, Pauline, like.
Speaker 7 (51:03):
If you changed any element of the NBA and T
and T, it wouldn't work. I mean, Barkley is the
lynchpin to everything because you don't know what he's gonna
say night to night. You never know what he's gonna say.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
If you put Draymond Green in Charles's seat, it's not
the same.
Speaker 7 (51:16):
It's not it's me. It's like and it's apples and oranges.
David Lee, Roth and Van Halen when they were at
their peak, they were fantastic. Samy Hagar did a great
job replacing him. It actually probably better than people thought.
It still wasn't van Halen, though not the Van Halen
people loved. And once you change that lead dog element,
it hurts.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
Yeah, But when do you add somebody to an existing
show and then it becomes better than like usually it's
the original show. Now, if you're adding Draymond Green and
you don't have Charles or Shack there, you know, and
Shack has helped a lot because he's not afraid, and
he's he's a big kid, and he has fun. He
(51:54):
pokes Charles Vice versa Kenny Sandwich in between earning. I
mean you just and they've had great producers too. That
helps because every day, and let's face it, if I
had to just watch the NBA every day for my job,
I'd go crazy. But they go in there. There are
(52:18):
times when they say this game sucks. You know, Charles
will saying I don't, I don't, I don't want to
watch this, and they allow them to do this. If
you're in the NBA and you're going when you normally
just say can you act like you're interested? No, That's
why we tune in, because they're honest with us, like, hey, we.
Speaker 4 (52:38):
Got this game. This guy not playing this, this is
going to be ugly.
