Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It wasn't pretty, but Oklahoma City tends to do that
to you. As they shut down the Timberwolves from the start,
Minnesota scoring just nine points in the first quarter. SGA
had a business like thirty four. The Thunder have four
wins by thirty or more points this postseason, first NBA
(00:25):
team in history with four playoff wins of thirty or
more in a single postseason. The previous record three wins
of thirty or more the twenty sixteen Cabs, the ninety
six Jazz, and the nineteen eighty six Lakers. Statu of
(00:49):
today brought to you by Penni America, the official trading
cards of this program, but nine first quarter points. So
in the last thirty years, there have been a total
of six teams who have held somebody to fewer than
ten points in the first quarter of a playoff game.
The Thunder have done it twice this postseason. They held
Denver to eight first quarter points in Game four the
(01:11):
second round. They played great defense. I know that people
aren't going to tune in to watch great defense, but
OKAC is just trying to win a title. You know
you don't get style points. Nobody cares about that. If
you're winning a championship, it's not kind of how you
did it, it's just that you did it. And if
it means SGA gets your thirty five a game, you
(01:33):
play great defense, and you hopefully get support from your
supporting players, and that's what's happened so far. Indi enda
the same way. And yes, you're going to have people
who probably don't watch basketball on a regular basis who
are going to lament the fact that if it's Indiana
against ok sick. That's fine with me because you probably
(01:55):
aren't watching. Anyway, those who are watching will and those
who are fans, and.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
You'll be curious.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
You'll be curious to watch Tyres Haliburton and SGA. We
keep trying to look for the face of the NBA.
Who's the next face of the NBA. Well, it's Anthony Edwards. No,
he doesn't want to be Uh, can Jason Tatum be it? No,
he's a great player, he's just not you know, a star. SGA.
Great player, not a star. You know, there's there's only
(02:24):
a few of them. And we've talked about this and
it's not meant as a knock. I'm just giving you
the reality of will you stop if somebody's playing on
TV and go huh okay, or you'll seek out that player,
or you would actually buy tickets to go watch somebody play.
I mean, Joker is great. There's a curiosity to him.
I don't know if he's got star power. I think
(02:46):
there's it's curiosity power. Luca has star power. Lebron still
has star power. Steph Curry still has star power. And
we're trying to anoint the you know, Yanni still has it.
We're trying to anoint somebody as the next the next
we keep it doesn't take long before we move on
from somebody, and then you move on to the next guy,
(03:07):
and then who's the next guy? Anthony Edwards is not
ready for it. He doesn't want to be the face
of the NBA. But because you get drafted higher, it's different.
You know, look at these some of these guys who've
been drafted mid first round, you know, Jannis Kawhi, you
know they they weren't rushed to be anything. They were
(03:29):
allowed to be something we wanted, indeed to be great
right away. He wasn't ready, wasn't healthy. Anthony Edwards. You know,
when you're drafted that high, it's like, okay, we want
to see what you have. You get the pleasant surprise,
you know, in the mid to late first round or
even second round with a joker, and I think we
don't allow these, but Anthony Edwards is twenty three, so
(03:51):
he got to be fair to the timeline here. It's
just sometimes you see a pocket of greatness and then
because we were looking for the next Jordan for how long, Well,
we're still looking for the next Jordan. Anthony Edwards. He
reminds me of Jordan. No, not me, not yet. I
saw Jordan and there's nobody Jordan reminds me of Jordan.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
There's nobody on the list where you go. You know,
he kind of looks a lot and remind he plays like, yes, Paul.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
You know, Kobe was really close and it was really overt,
like he imitated Jordan. He studied Jordan, and his game
offensively was a lot like it. His mannerisms were a
lot like it. Kobe came really close.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, he wanted to be Mike. He studied he wanted
the mannerisms, everything about that. He came pretty close too,
came pretty close. But Anthony Edwards was asked after the loss,
if this hurts.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
It's exciding.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
I don't know what people would think he would hurt.
I mean it's exciding for me. I'm twenty three. I
get to do it a whole bunch of times. I'm
hurt more so for myself for Mike. I came up
sure for Mike. Like I said, we tried last year.
We couldn't get it. We tried to get this year.
Tragging next year, But harden is a terrible word to use.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I'm good, Okay, nobody's going to work harder than him
in the offseason. Good And okay, see did show him
the ultimate respect because you have lou Dort who was
just face guarding him. This used to be called a
box in one where you had one guy on one
guy and then the other four playing pretty much as
own and that is the show of respect. But still,
(05:26):
Anthony Edwards didn't get any further than he was last year,
and Luca took his team to the NBA Finals. They're
around the same age. Luca is a couple of years older,
but you know we're expecting young players now. Cooper Flag
coming in next year at eighteen nineteen years of age.
He won't have that expectation because he's going to Dallas.
(05:47):
He won't be the focal point when he's there. But
a lot of these players, when you come in, what
are you going to do for me?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Now?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
You know, Victor Wembenyama, because the team isn't very good,
he gets a little bit more of a runway there.
But at certain point it gets to be three years,
four years in then you're like, are you gonna win
a championship? We were doing that now at an earlier
age than ever. And speaking of age, OKC is the
second youngest team to go to the NBA Finals. Everything
(06:18):
seems to be lined up for them to create a
whatever the modern day dynasty is, they should be there.
They're consistent, you have you know, it's hard to get
guys to play defense. Everybody wants to play offense. But
when you have a philosophy team philosophy that is defense.
And this is the Spurs great elixir. This is the
(06:40):
magic potion. For Greg Popovich with all of those great
teams that he had, they wanted to play great defense.
And you have to want to play defense. Nobody wants
to play defense. But when you do, and it's contagious.
We talk about offense when somebody's you know, clicking and
then somebody else's clicking. Defense is you know, that's that's contagious,
(07:03):
Like damn, he's hustling, he blocks shot, you know, coming
up with a steel like just whatever those little things are.
And okay, okay, se has done that, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 8 (07:13):
And being a defender pays in the NBA, like the
term three and D guy J McDaniels makes a hundred
million dollars isay, a hards time makes thirty million dollars
a year now, So it pays. So I'm just not
understanding why people were like, well, I don't need to
play defense because it pays in the NBA. They're paying
people out the Wazoo.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Pacers at the Knicks, and the Knicks are giving four
in Game five coming up tonight, All right, poll question,
see what are we gonna do first hour of the program.
Speaker 9 (07:42):
Exactly what is the Wazoo? Will be our first poll question?
Speaker 3 (07:46):
It is?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
It is?
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, yeah, it's one that we all use but never
question like.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Who said, oh you know what, I'm going to refer
to that as the Wazoo. Checking can you check and
see how he came up with Wazoo on Fritzy but.
Speaker 6 (08:02):
Old Washington State University thing. Probably not. That's why they
call themselves too, don't they.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah, Wazoo up to was Okay, what else do we have? Seed?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Let's see.
Speaker 9 (08:15):
Uh we got a couple here from the t O
Dub who might as well start there intentionally walking about
in the first inning A strategy or bush league, it's
a great one. Do you believe Caleb Williams wanted to
be a Chicago Bear and loves being there? Sure? Definitely
not old boy Stefan Diggs. I don't know if we're
ready to get into that.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Just yes, man, I like I like Stefan Diggs. Every
time he's been on with us, he's entertaining. But man,
you have to confiscate everybody's phones if you're gonna be
on your yacht. It's that's first thing you do. Uh,
(08:56):
we're not. We're not on display here. Everybody loves to
record everything, you know, we got to chronicle everything.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I don't have to chronicle that, you know.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
I don't think he's married, although an't he going out
with Cardi B Is that?
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Marvin is not drama. See I don't you don't need that.
I mean, she was there.
Speaker 9 (09:21):
And putting on way more of a display than Steph was.
So yeah, she was there in all of her CARDI
b neis.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Oh, oh okay.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
But he pulls out some packet that's got something pink
in it. Up on what the kids are doing now?
But seeing any idea on what that substance powder, whatever
it might have been.
Speaker 9 (09:49):
I assumed it was kool aid or fun dep what
it was. Some type of powdered sugar, candy, sweet treat,
sweet tarts. Yeah, it's crushed up, sweetheart. Maybe he likes
to put it on his toast. I'm not really sure.
I'm not really sure why you would ask me about
that either. Up the wazoo where that powder goes.
Speaker 10 (10:17):
According to dictionary dot com, the first usage of up
the wazoo, University of California Berkeley humor newspaper called it,
let's run it up your old wazoo, meaning your backside.
But the actual definition these days is to extreme degree
or in great abundance, like I've got money coming out
by wazoo. It means you have a lot of something.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Okay, all right, didn't think we were going there this
early in the show, but here we are. Yes, thank
you for that. All right, any other poll questions here,
we'll get to the Bears situation with Caleb Williams. This
story is actually a couple of weeks old. Seth Wickersham
has a book on quarterbacks and you had a quote
in there his father didn't want his son to go
(11:01):
play for the Bears. That's where quarterbacks go to die.
So we'll talk about that. Cato Williams addresses that you
address that yesterday. Anything else that we can at least
do a drive by on.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah, We're gonna actually start with this one from Marvin.
Speaker 9 (11:14):
When did the Timberwelves book their flights to Cancun pregame, halftime.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Or right after the game ended? That's going to be
your hour one pole question. Wow, well, see, you got
to put up a fight.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
This is one of those that you could have had
a really good year in Minnesota. You had a really
bad couple of weeks here. Therefore, this feels like a disappointment.
It didn't feel like they were closer to the NBA
Finals and Okac's only going to get better. And if
you're in Minnesota and you know you got the Dante
di Vincenzo and Julius Randall and see you kind of
(11:48):
changed the look of your team. You traded away Karl
Anthony Towns, but it didn't feel like they were ready
to take that next step. And you know, Oka see
in that next step and that's for sure. And for
Shay Gilgess watching him last night, he's gonna get a bucket.
He's gonna get wherever he needs to get. And this
(12:10):
is what great players do, great scorers do. They know
you're gonna try to take away one thing, and then
they know there's another move and another, so there's three
that they're thinking. Now, you just take your chances. What
are the odds I'm going to get help? Here Sga
off the dribble, is going to get where he needs
to go. It's remarkable to see. And you know, he's
(12:30):
not a three point shooter. He's a you know, the
master of the mid range jumper. But he can get
to the hoop. It's not exciting, but it's just greatness.
That's what you're seeing. You're seeing a truly great player
on display.

Tim Legler espn NBA Analyst and covering the Western Conference
Final there with Scott Van Pelt. He'll be covering the
NBA Finals as well, that airs exclusively on ABC starting Thursday,
June fifth.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Do you want in on our.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Larry Bird topic that I mentioned to Stephen Jackson yesterday?
I said, are you prepared for a day when Larry
Bird drops out of the top ten players of all time?
Could you see a scenario in your lifetime where Larry
Bird is not considered a top ten player of all time?
Speaker 6 (14:29):
I can see in terms of general consensus, I might
not be the best person to ask on this topic
because he's not only my favorite athlete of all time,
he's also that I personally credit him for changing the
course of my life, to be perfectly honest with you,
because I was on a baseball track until that dude
came into the league, and I had never really played
(14:50):
organized basketball before, and he personally made me want to
start playing basketball, along with a growth spurt at the time.
So I'm legitimately not overstating it. He changed what I
wanted to do and how much I fell in love
with the game during that time, because I went into
high school at exactly the time he came into the NBA.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
So just seeing him play basketball gave you hope that
you could play basketball at a high level.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
I think, yeah, I mean, you know, even at that time,
was I thinking I could play in the NBA one day.
I mean, I wanted to be a pro athlete. I
thought I was going to be a professional baseball player.
So did my father. That was like the goal. But
it wasn't just like that. He gave me hope that
I could be an NBA player. It was his style
of play, their style of play as a team. I
(15:38):
admired the Lakers too for the way they played, so
it was kind of weird. My two favorite players were rivals.
Magic Johnson Larry Bird were my two favorite players, and
they were the two guys that were trying to beat
each other every year. It felt like so I did.
Just his flair, his confidence, his passing ability, the way
that team passed the ball. That that made me really think,
(16:02):
that's the beauty of basketball when it's played the right way,
it looks like that. And that's why I started to
fall in love with it, became obsessed with it, and
the rest is kind of history. Like what I did
with end up doing with my life. You're talking about
forty five years now. Basketball has been the center of
my life, everything I've built.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Did you ever think Larry Bird in person?
Speaker 6 (16:24):
I never thanked him in person. I did have one
very cool moment with him. He won't remember it, but
of course I'm not going to forget it. It was
shooting around preseason game. I never really caught Larry Bird
as a player because he was finishing up yet back problems,
he was about to retire, and I was on the
court alone, just he and I opposite ends of the floor,
(16:45):
shooting before a preseason game. I think it was in Hartford, Connecticut.
If I am not mistaken, and I'm like, that's Larry
Bird down, then we're only two out there because he
went out early. I used to go out early. We're
out there shooting. At one point I kind of drifted
to the other ends, so we were shooting on the
same end of the court, just us and some ball boys,
(17:05):
and uh we shot for a while and I was,
you know, I was making him, he was making or
both good shooters. And then he finished and he walked
past me, and as he was walking past me to
go to the tunnel to leave the court, he just
without even looking at me or changing the direction of
his head, he just said nice shooting, and he just
kept walking and that validated my life. That was all
I needed to hear. I probably should have just quit
(17:27):
right then and just like, hey, that's all I needed.
I'm good.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Watching okay see with Shay gilgis Alexander.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
He he's a great player, the MVP, but like, how
would you describe his style if somebody didn't see him play,
because he doesn't play like the typical very good, great
NBA player.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
I'd listen. I think the thing that separates him dan
is I personally have never seen a guard, or only
any player in this league. Maybe maybe Dirk would be
a guy that operated in that area of the floor,
but he wasn't really doing it as much off the
dribble as he was just with his length and his shooting.
No guard has ever literally dominated that area of the floor. Basically,
(18:14):
if you drew a line on the baseline straight up
each side of the lane all the way to half court,
so like an area of the width of the lane
extending from the baseline to half court, and that's the
area of the floor that he wants operating, and that's
where the most traffic is on the floor, and yet
that's where he always tries to get back to. Now,
he obviously can make shots going you know, to the
(18:37):
right wing, left wing, wherever he has to if he
gets pushed that way for that mid range shot, But
his favorite place on the court is the area that's
got the most traffic for a guy his size, for
a guard to shoot the ball in the areas he
does with that level of efficiency, We've really never seen
anything quite like that. He's just an absolute raw scoring machine.
(18:59):
And the more you talk to guys around the league
that are great defenders, the answer of who's the toughest
guy you've had to guard or have to guard currently,
his name typically is the first one that's going to
roll off people's tongues.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah, and you know, you start to get to that
Jordan comparisons of scoring. Now, I'm not talking how Mike scored,
but the Mike won how many scoring titles? Like it
was a foregone conclusion and I don't see any reason
why SGA shouldn't be able to continue to be that
thirty plus point scorer for quite some time. But I
(19:35):
did want to ask you about if you were going
to talk to Anthony Edwards, what would you tell him
he has to do improve upon?
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Well, I think one of the things I think, first
of all this has nothing to do with him, is
let me start with this. They need to address their
lead guard position. I love Mike Conley. Mike Conley's been
one of my favorite players in the NBA his entire career.
Just a huge fan of his. He's a leader, he's tough,
he's great in Memphis. But he's at the stage of
(20:06):
his career he's not going to generate any additional offense
for people, and I think some of that needs to
be taken off the plate of Anthony Edwards. Let's start
with that, because that will lead into the point of
your question. I think Anthony Edwards needs to understand that
there can't be moments of games where he feels his
(20:28):
way out, he feels the game. That's not what he
needs to do. He needs to come out and have
a Jordana like approach, a Kobe like approach. I think
he's got the athletic ability, the explosiveness, the all around
scoring game to do it. I think because so much
of the other responsibility of being a playmaker has been
(20:49):
put on his plate, he morphs between the two and
that's not who he is at his core. So part
of it's on the team. They've got to address that,
and if they can find that, then Anthony Edwards could
just go be what you need to be, which is
a just an absolute tenacious, attacking, relentless scorer. And that
(21:12):
doesn't mean, you know, you have to shoot the ball
every time down the floor, but it means everything is
about putting pressure on the defense. Look to bring Jordan
again in reference of that. I go to Jordan a
number of times in my career and just watching him
throughout his career, he's the only guy I ever saw
that every single time he caught it, it was go time.
Every time he touched the ball, he wanted to go
on you. And Anthony Edwards, I think because he doesn't
(21:36):
have that taken off of his plate to go create
offense all these guys and I'm not saying you're not
going to get assisted organically, that'll come by being aggressive,
but I think he sometimes goes to these periods of
time where he's like, Okay, let me try to get
other guys involved or feel my way around the court,
and that's just not to me who he is and
(21:56):
who he needs to be at his best.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Talking to Tim Legler of the Other Ship covering the
NBA Finals also his podcast, All City NBA Podcast, What
what do people learn when they go to that podcast?
Speaker 6 (22:09):
I just think Dan, I think it's a little bit
different than a lot of what's out there. It's not
a hot take thing. Adam Morez is my is my
partner and hosts the show. He's he's based in Denver
and he is really heavily tied into the Nuggets, but
he covers all sports in Denver. But we we're just
a serious hoop talk four times a week, an hour
an hour at a time. We're breaking down the games
(22:30):
that happened last night, previewing the games from tonight, and
it's just real basketball analysis. If you're a hoop junkie,
just like talking about the game of what you watched
last night, you want to learn more about it a
little bit smarter when you watch the game tonight. That's
that's what that is. It's not hot take, trying to
get clicks. We're just two guys breaking down the game
because we love hoops. So that's if that's your thing,
and that's the place you want to go, because I
(22:51):
think it's it's done about as high a level as
it can be done. Because Adam is so knowledgeable himself.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Why is Michael Jordan joining TV NBC and their coverage
of the NBA.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
That's a good question.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Who knows.
Speaker 6 (23:05):
I don't know what they offered him has been has
that been reported?
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Maybe that's let's say they gave him a Tom Brady deal.
Let's say they gave him thirty million, thirty five, Like
what does that matter to Jordan? Like, you know, he's
a billion A couple of times over.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
I completely agree with you. I was making really a
joke about that. But I don't know. I don't really
know why he would want to. It's like, it's not
high stress. Let's start with that. You're not asking him
to go run a team or coach a team. It's
not high stress. What we do. I mean, he's got
to be careful with your words sometimes because you could
(23:41):
end your career if you're not careful. That's about the
highest stress you have, it's just sitting down and talking
about basketball. So I think from that standpoint, maybe he
wants to feel a little bit more connected to the
game now that he's not, you know, involved with ownership
and it's just a different life for him. Who knows,
maybe he misses his connection to the game and it's
(24:02):
a way to stay relevant and a way to just
impart some knowledge about the way he views things. Because
we've never really heard from him in this regard, so
I'm going to be very interested to hear what he
has to say. I have no doubt he's going to
be highly critical and on point when he needs to be.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
How big a month is Tyreese Haliburton head?
Speaker 6 (24:23):
Look, I said the other night that I looked it
up because I wasn't sure. Do you know what Dan
off the top of your head with the perfect QBR
rating is for a quarterback?
Speaker 3 (24:34):
I think it's what one fifty eight point three?
Speaker 9 (24:39):
Bang?
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Good job, that's excellent. Yes, I didn't know that. I'm
a huge NFL fame. I know the exact number. I
looked it up. That's what Tire's Halliburton pitched on Tuesday.
I mean, that's what he threw on Tuesday, he played
the position perfectly. If you really want to find a
teaching tape for how to play point guard in the
NBA at the highest level, it was Tuesday night. Thirty
(25:01):
plus points, fifteen assists, zero turnovers, double digit rebounds, four steals,
and constant tempo, constant tempo. He put a lot on himself,
and the previous game they lost, they bogged down in
the fourth quarter. I allowed the Knicks to win that
game and get it to two to one and made
it a series. And he put it on himself, and
(25:24):
he answered the bell, and it started from the very
first possession. Compared him to a Formula one car or
a driver and had his foot taped with the gas
pedal down to the floor. He didn't tap the brakes
once and as a result, Indiana played to their identity.
So this guy has now had It's not just a month, man,
(25:44):
It's a been about three or four months. Very little
to scrutinize. And I thought the first half of the
season he was a little bit up and down. I
actually described him one time, maybe back in November, as
his floor being too low to be considered a superstar.
Meeting on those nights when he's quiet or passive or
doesn't impact the game. You can't have like a six
point night. Yeah, you can't have one of those games
(26:07):
where you just kind of aren't noticed, not if you're
on that level. And over the last three months or
so plus whatever the playoffs have been to this point,
you know, two plus rounds, he has been that every
single night. So he's elevated his status because of his
consistency with which he is doing it.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Do you realize Jason Kidd had a quadruple double and
so points, rebounds, assist, and turnovers. Yeah, I think he's
had the most turnovers in a game in NBA history.
I think what fifteen?
Speaker 6 (26:43):
It's listen, it's incredible. I mean Tyres Haliburton led the
NBA for starting point guards for guys that played a
lot of minutes in assist the turnover ratio. Okay, it
was over five a game. He's over seven a game
in this series. He's got forty four assists, six turners
against a team that's got guys that are trying to
(27:07):
disrupt him. Now, and we'll say this the one thing
the Knicks don't have, and this is if Indiana wins
this series, he certainly is going to get something different
from Okac. They the Knicks don't have the personnel to
jam him up in the back court. Mkal Bridges is
a really good defender. He's really long. He's great if
you give him an isolation wing player to guard him,
(27:28):
and that's trying to take him off the dribble. When
you're talking about a point guard with that kind of lateral,
I mean, straight ahead speed, that's mckaal Bridges can't do that.
So he's picking him up in half court or even
further back on his own defensive end. Now Tyres Alberton
has a had a steam. They're not jamming him up
in the back court on the outlet passes to stop
his momentum. They can't do it. Anonobi's too big and
(27:50):
thick like to move like that. Brunson can't do it.
So Josh Hart's probably the most likely guy. If you
just say, hey, man, just go guard this guy in
the back, don't let him get the outlet pass, and
turn him a few times up to court, he would
be the most likely. But he's not even on the
level of four different guys that Okac has, So that's
been a big problem for the nixt Tyvis Haliburton is
(28:12):
able to get moving down the runway and now it's
too late to contain him, and that's why you're seeing
what he's doing to them and just completely picking them apart.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Good to talk to you, Legs, have fun with the finals.
Thanks for joining us anytime, Dan, You got it. That's
Tim Legler.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
David Spade stand up special Dandelion can be seen right
now on Amazon Prime. Also has a podcast with Dana Carvey.
It's called Fly on the Wall and learn more about
his upcoming tour dates at Davidspade dot com. Great to
see you again. We were just talking about there is
a moment. There's a clip that's been viral for a
(29:02):
long time where you're sitting with Chris Rock and you're
at a Laker game. Yeah, Rock is talking to Kobe
trying to engage. What was he talking to Kobe trying
to what was going on in that Sceneio?
Speaker 13 (29:16):
Well, it was it all happened so fast and well,
you know, you can get our agency at these great
seats in the old days, they might still be bumped
right up to the Laker bench, and it's very odd.
I felt bad for the players because you sit right
next to them, like arm to arm, and you've just
got random idiots whoever's got some heat on them. They're
(29:37):
sitting next to you that game, and they're sweating there
in the middle of the huddle, and I'm like, we
maybe we should try a sucker trap, you know. But
and it's just it's it's a drag because they're there.
But Kobe sat there and half the game we'd switch,
you know, so we got to sit and pull.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
But they were all nice, all those players. But then,
you know, in the heat of the moment, I think.
Speaker 13 (29:58):
Kobe, it was just a very odd situation where the
camera's panning over from Kobe and Chris I think is.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Talking to him.
Speaker 13 (30:05):
Yeah, And then I was laughing because I could tell
it wasn't clicking because Kobe was momboed out, you know.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
But okay, so what is Rock saying to Kobe?
Speaker 13 (30:17):
What he's saying is we don't know, but I know
he's saying a lot and he's just going on may
if he's talking to me I couldn't hear moves so loud,
and if he's talking to Kobe, Kobe was worried about
something else.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
But it all looks funny. I like it all.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Okay, But how do you get those tickets with your agency?
Like First Comfort Serve, you.
Speaker 13 (30:39):
Just have to ask and say, hey, can I come
to one of these games? Or sometimes I'll call and
say do you want the tickets tonight? And you know,
it's a little bit of a hassle. They're so good,
but at the last second, sometimes they're like, oh, Mark
Wahlberg fell out. But sometimes you know, Rock is in town,
and last time I went to New York, I said,
(31:00):
went to the Knicks, or maybe when he came we
went there. But usually they can shake him up, shake
it out, if that's a term.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
And it's super fun. When I did a.
Speaker 13 (31:08):
Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, Oh thanks, a couple of people.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Remember we the joke with that Larry, Because NBC has
two sets of tickets.
Speaker 13 (31:17):
They have those down on the floor and they have
some of the rafters and Larry asked for tickets and
they go, sure, sure, and the head of NBC gives
them tickets. But they're in the rafters and he goes
I one of the other tickets, and then I'm with
the guy on the floor from NBC and he's mad
because he says Seinfeldt was bigger than just shoot me.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Why do I get the floor seat?
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Which is a good argument, but there is a pecking
order of tickets that if Mark Wohlburg wants tickets, that
you're not getting the tickets.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
Well, I wouldn't make it that simple. I mean, I
think a.
Speaker 13 (31:50):
Little bit, but no, I would say I would give
them Wahlburg, yeah, or I'll sit with Wahlberg, you know
what I mean. They sometimes go there's four so sometimes
the agents usually you know, and then they'll bring one
of their clients or someone there courting, or someone's got
a movie coming. Sometimes they say, you got a movie
coming out, Let's put you on the floor here, let's
(32:11):
put you here at the UFC fight, Let's pepper you around,
sprinkle you, and then it's just more promotion.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
I guess, right, have you said thanks to a Kardashian.
Speaker 13 (32:23):
No, I saw Kimberly at the fiftieth SNL and I
never see her.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
I never see any of the Kardashians.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
Shockingly, how was that event?
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Well, then let's look at a clip. No, it was.
Speaker 13 (32:37):
I thought it was a lot of fun because because
we had everybody there, I thought the rehearsals were more fun.
It was three days this time. The fortieth was pretty quick,
but this was three days of rehearsing with different people
and just walking around and you know, it's your turf
a little bit, because I was honest, and I'll so
you can go up to almost anyone.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
And go, hey, how's it going, and they have to
get minutes.
Speaker 13 (32:58):
But everyone's usually pretty like because there's no plus ones either.
It's just all it's all raw dogging. Just everyone is
there alone in the audience and stuff. But I had
a lot of fun. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
So there's nobody you're nervous about walking up to and saying, hey,
oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:15):
There was I mean you just randomly. I saw Miley Cyrus,
I think is great.
Speaker 13 (33:22):
I saw Jack Nicholson, who you know, everyone will give
you a few seconds, it's nice. I mean Bill Murray
was sitting next to me in the audience and on
the chart, and then I saw him back stage. I said,
I think I'm sitting next to you, and he was
obviously overjoyed and then when we got out there, heat filler,
the seat filler the whole three hours, I'm like, what's happening.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
He never came out.
Speaker 13 (33:45):
Wow, he said they're eating like cantalope cubes they had
cut up in the back.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Do you think that because you went up to him
that maybe that was the reason why he didn't come
out and he had.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
A seat filler spooped him. Maybe.
Speaker 13 (34:01):
I don't know if I spooked him Dan, because I'm
an alumni on cast member number three eight four seven, six' two,
one and uh that's what says on my membership.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Card and.
Speaker 13 (34:11):
No they they set it all up and, Like i'm over.
Here there's one SCENE i did in the end the
show WHERE i had to run in the audience and sit,
down and we did a rehearsal AND i forgot the
audience is empty. REHEARSAL i have thirty, seconds SO i
run out of the sketch and run the audience and
then There's Jane curtains in my seat In Chevy chase
and they're, like, hey can you, Guys.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
And i'm, like, no one PLANS u ahead of.
Speaker 13 (34:30):
TIME i have to scoop these legends out SO i
can squeak in and do my little.
Speaker 3 (34:35):

Asking him, they're, like hey who's?
Speaker 13 (41:54):
This chick and, he's, like ah because he's never been
asked a non football question in twenty seven, the years and,
so like what's going on here with? This skeezer and,
he's like we're going. TO rehearsal, i know that's not
