Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, it is a Dan Patrick Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. He's LeVar Arrington. I'm Jonas Knox in
for Dan and the guys. You can normally hear us
Monday through Friday six am Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific.
We are the show before this show here every single
day during the week, alongside Brady Quinn, who is not

(00:25):
with us, but it'll be Stix and I taking you
all the way up until noon Eastern time, nine am
Pacific here on Fox Sports Radio. And you know, some
people have said, are you guys you know what is
this like a Memorial Day takeover of the Dan Patrick Show?
I mean kind of, I guess. I mean that's what
our job is here, that's what our duty is. And
apparently there's another takeover that's happening, and it's the NFL

(00:49):
continuing their takeover. And the takeover is holiday and holiday
action and holiday action when there happens to be another
league who's had that holiday all to themselves for several
several years now, so much so that Jason Kelsey was
on his New Heights podcast talking about how he's a

(01:11):
fan of the NFL playing on Christmas.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
And on these major holidays, and had this to.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Say, Now, I'm also just a fan of playing on
more prime time times, like that's when I'm watching TV,
and I like you when football is on the television.
So let's keep putting good football games on television when
everybody's watching.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
I mean, I think it's.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Just good for the game.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Let's keep taking over all the holidays or taking over Thanksgiving, Christmas. NBA,
you're never getting that back.

Speaker 5 (01:36):
I mean, it's it's it's.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
The way it is.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
And he's one hundred percent correct.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
He ain't live.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
They're never getting it back.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Like once the NFL realized I'll wait, like this is doable.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, we're gonna go ahead and take that too.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
And then it, you know, became one game and two games,
and it's just this is where we are. And I
don't know what the plan would be for the NBA,
but if you're the NFL. And by the way, for
those of you wondering, well, it's just because you know,
Christmas falls on certain days of the week. No, it's
over because Christmas is a Thursday this year, a Friday
of the year after a Saturday, after that a Sunday

(02:15):
a month like, it's going to be a long ass
time before anybody can make the argument that well, depending
on the day of the week it falls, it's not
great for the schedule and the players. The NFL is
going to take this over and it's going to be
theirs moving forward.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
I mean, what else is there to say?

Speaker 7 (02:30):
You know, Kelsey nailed it, and I think you you
put a bow on it if it's good football. And listen,
I look at it like this during the holiday season.
The one thing that you get yourself set for during
Christmas time, pre Christmas, post Christmas and.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
New Year is college football.

Speaker 7 (02:55):
So if we're being honest, I don't think about the
NBA on on Christmas. Maybe Christmas Day, you're right, but
I don't think about the NBA. I think about college football,
and I think about bowl games. And now that you
have to playoff, it now makes it even more intensified

(03:16):
getting into that corridor of the year coming to an
end and rounding it out by having, you know, Christmas
and then New Year's.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
So if you're.

Speaker 7 (03:27):
Putting on a quality football game from the National Football
League and that's on Christmas Day, hell, if you put
two three games on on Christmas Day that are quality
matchups of the National Football League. I can guarantee you

(03:49):
guar Runtee that you're going to have a tremendously large
viewing audience of those games that are taking place.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Totally agree. And I look at it and I go,
if you're the NBA, I mean, what do you do?

Speaker 7 (04:07):
You just keep trying to chuck along, you know, chuck
them up, like like Karl Anthony Townsend.

Speaker 5 (04:12):
Hope something goes.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
In it, just you know, like for example, you know,
the the Christmas schedule for the NFL coming up this year, Cowboys, Commanders, Lions, Vikings, Broncos, Chiefs, Like,
all of those are compelling matters. I watch all three,
every single anything else, every single one.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
There would have to.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Be a dope ass Bowl game on and that game.
I would even be switching in and out to all
the games depending on what the times that are are playing.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And I'll be honest with you, if you like, who
do you think the two worst teams in the NFL
are going to be this year? Like if you if
you had to right now, guess the Saints, Yeah, and
maybe the Browns. If the Saint and the Browns are
playing on Christmas. Are you watching that or an NBA game.
I'm watching the NFL game.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I'm sorry, I'm.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
Sorry, just I don't know. It depends.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
Give me the matchup of the NBA game, Give me
the matchup of the NBA game.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
Then give me what best case scenario.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
I mean, look, I mean, if you wanted, you know,
best case scenario, you know, maybe it would be a
you know, a Thunder Celtics matchup. Or no, I mean,
Tatum is going to be out for majority of the year,
so let's say Thunder Pacers NBA Finals rematch. I'm watching
the rematch. I'm watching the Saints Browns.

Speaker 7 (05:39):
I'm watching the Saints Browns. It's it sounds more interesting,
it sounds more intriguing. What what's at steak in December
for the NBA, for them NBA games?

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Nothing?

Speaker 5 (05:53):
What's that steak?

Speaker 7 (05:53):
I mean, we're we're heading into June, you know what
I mean, Like, we're hitting into June and basket NBA
season is still going. I don't see there being enough
importance to you. Don't again, I don't believe the NBA
has a player right now or players outside of you.
Being a avid NBA fan, an avid sports fan, I

(06:19):
do not believe the NBA has the type of player
that can drive the viewership the way that you've had
it in in decades past.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Let me, let me, let me paint this scenario for you,
all right, Just imagine the NBA to counter program does
that rematch of the NBA Finals and it is Pacers
and Thunder and the NFL. Just this is a pre example.
This is not the matchup, but this is the worst.
If you had to pick the two worst teams in

(06:51):
the league, and the NFL rolls out Tyler Schuck versus
Dylan Gabriel and would do better numbers than the NBA
show to rematch in the finals.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
But I think it classically comes back to the way
the popularity has been grown and the way the popularity
has been built. National Football League has always made it
a point to make the Shield the most important branding
that takes place. Not to mention, guys, we're helmets. So
you can look at a matchup, but you'll ultimately find

(07:24):
the reasons why that is an intriguing matchup, even if
it's two trash teams. And it's also because the NFL
doesn't play nearly as many games as the NBA. So
it's almost these days, which is one of the best
things that the NFL could have ever done, is these days,
they've made every game matter more and they're continuing to

(07:48):
figure out ways to reward the teams that take every
single game and every single week take it seriously, like
you know, you're not sitting there like, ah, you know, well,
there's more games to be played. We will be fine.
It's almost taking on the same type of characteristics in
some ways in regard as college football. And that's the

(08:10):
reason why we love college football so much historically speaking
of course, is that.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
You couldn't lose.

Speaker 7 (08:17):
If you lost, that meant that your season was in
jeopardy after one loss. Now you can lose one, maybe
even two games and get into the college football playoff
and who knows what happens there. We had a two
loss team win the championship this year.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Correct.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, So at.

Speaker 7 (08:38):
The end of the day, I think that there's a
level of intensity and that the shield does an excellent
job of creating this intensity and passion for consumption of
the talent that's going out there on the days that
they're playing. And you're right, you only get so much

(08:59):
time with the game like people be going through and
I'm one of them. We be going through like like postseason,
like fallout, like withdraw like. I love the fact that
the players get an opportunity to play in the UFL
and try to make it into the NFL. It does

(09:20):
not quench my thirst for football NFL college.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
It does not.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
It still feels like there is a departure from what
life should be like when football season is not here
and to be to have been able to create that
type of buy in from a consumer, man, that's an ultimate.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
Product, and it's very hard. It's very hard to.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Fight your way back from from that type of established
fandom and viewership and buy in.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
To a particular league of particular sport.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
So there's this old saying that nobody cares about your
fantasy football team, like it just in general, when people
start complaining about their fantasy football team, it's what, like, man,
nobody cares. I don't want to hear about your fantasy team.
You know who does care about your fantasy team? The NFL,
Because I think fantasy football is as much to do
with this as anything, because it's basically gambling, and it

(10:23):
was the I guess the show before the gambling show
started was fantasy football, So that was sort of your
appetizer to get you into what gambling could look like
in the NFL. These games late in the season, like
that on a Christmas you could look at a Saints
Brown's matchup just for example, that's not going to be
the matchup because the NFL realizes those teams are terrible.

(10:44):
That's why New Orleans and Cleveland don't have a primetime game.
But you could set that game up and there's going
to be an audience because somebody's going to have a
player from one of those teams on their fantasy team.
Somebody's going to have money invested in it. They've just
done more to make the sport presentable and interesting to people,

(11:06):
even if they don't have a team. And we've talked
about this before you and I grew up. It was
like you had to have a team. Who's your team?
And now and you've made the point because of fantasy football,
it isn't about that your team is your fantasy team. Yeah,
like listen, that's cool. You know so and so play
for this team like he's not on my team. That's
what's important. And I think the NFL recognize that, and

(11:28):
the NFL has taken advantage of that, and I think
fantasy football and gambling is the biggest reason why they've
could just continued to take over, because you could put
any matchup you wanted on and counter the NBA's matchup,
whatever it is, whatever interesting storyline the NBA things they have.
More people are gonna watch the NFL because the NFL
has done a better job of making their product and

(11:50):
their league presentable and interesting to the consumer.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
And that's why they've seen the spike in the numbers.
And you can do about it. You don't have a
Michael Jordan that can combat a Walter Payton. You don't
have a Shaquille O'Neill that can combat a Ray Lewis.
You don't have a Kobe Bryant that can combat a
Peyton Manning.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
You don't.

Speaker 7 (12:14):
You don't have the star power. And that's no shade,
I promise, that's no shade towards towards the you know
SGA's or the Anthony Edwards in the league, the Jason
Tatum's or whoever else you have as a the Yiannis
or the Jokich's. It's no shade, I promise. They just

(12:35):
don't have the draw that a Shaquille O'Neill had. You
had an opportunity with shaq, You had an opportunity with Kobe,
You had an opportunity with MJ and Scottie Pippen and
even the Mailman like by by Market, you know, Magic Johnson.
You had the opportunities to have a captive audience and

(12:56):
a large, tremendously passionate viewing audience when you develop those brands,
but you're you're at the risk of having strong branded
players in the NBA versus a strong brand the Shield
that continues to prove that even if Peyton Manning leaves,

(13:18):
even if Tom Brady leaves, even if any of the
best of the best players that play in the National
Football League retire and are done, this league just continues
to grow more and more and more, and they're finding
more ways to expand, and they build that off of

(13:38):
the brand of the Shield. And that might have been
the best asset created by the NFL owners.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
And and and what we've.

Speaker 7 (13:48):
Watched Paul Tagliabu start and and and have watched Roger
Goodell continue to grow and build. It's just it's they
have created something so strong that they can continue to
widen the gap between other sports, at least domestically.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
And also to your point on Goodell, I don't think
he gets enough credit because a lot of it's, you know,
it's the cool thing to do, booth the commissioner, Like
you know, like the cool thing to do is boo
the commissioner. You know, when when Gary Bettman comes out
on the ice, they boom in the NHL, you know,
like Rob manf forgets boomed and he said some dumb
things before in the past, but that's the cool thing.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Godell gets booed all that stuff.

Speaker 8 (14:29):
The one thing you.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Can be critical of maybe the way he handled punishments
and the NFL having too much say when it came
to off field crimes, and you know there was obviously
the mismanagement of the Ray Rice video and what happened afterwards.
All of that is fair criticism. He did not do
a great job. But if from a business standpoint, he's
hitting out of the park. Like from a business standpoint,

(14:52):
there's a reason why the owners re elect him every
single time because he has had an eye to that
to your point, and he has recognize there's an ability
to grow the game and to cater to an audience
that if we do that, we will far surpass any
other quote unquote competition that's out there. And I think
that's what's happened, and he deserves a lot of that

(15:13):
credit as well.

Speaker 7 (15:14):
Well you hit it earlier, And I just end with this.
The mic drop is Goodell being able to be able
to incorporate and implement gambling and it being.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
A legal deal where you're able to do it.

Speaker 7 (15:28):
They're they're opening up sports books in in the arenas,
in the stadiums. Now, that's probably the singular pad on
the back that a boy that Roger Goodell gets from
these owners because it has probably taken revenues up significantly
in terms of what they're able to bring in and

(15:50):
what they weren't able to bring in. But it still
was out there and it still existed Jonas. Now they're
able to bring that into their doors and add that
to their bottom line. So yeah, I mean the things
that they've done, the things that Roger Goodell has done
have been very strategically sound, very intentional and purpose and placing,
and it's working.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
You're seeing it work.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
As you mentioned, You've created a larger fan base based
upon fantasy football. People who aren't even serious football fans
still get involved with fantasy football. So in even if
it's not an aggressive way, a passionate way of getting
involved with the game, you still have people that are passive,
passive fans that are still getting involved with the game

(16:34):
because fantasy football brings them together. It's like a night
of Sorry, or night of Monopoly or whatever it may be,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
So it's super smart man.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
And by the way, speaking of sorry, Lee to Laps,
our executive producer here, Lee, how many fantasy football.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Leagues are you in each year?

Speaker 8 (16:52):
At least four, but probably closer to five.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Okay, Like he's a degenerate I mean. And by the way,
he still hasn't paid anybody first, I have paid them on.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
He said he paid it all.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
He said he he holds the money people.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Yeah, And if.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
That I believe, I would never enter.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
I would never enter a league where Lead the Lap
holds the money for the prize winners. Just wouldn't happen
because that's a bad mistake. Right out the gate, You're
already off to a bad.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Start because if Lead the Laps holding the money, that
means at some point, prestige liquor in Burbank is holding
the money.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
That is very true, but.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
It was just Layaway. That's the bank that's holding the money.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Right by the end, I'm just holding a win and
nuts so I don't have to pay out. Yeah right, yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
So look, just you know, on behalf of degenerates everywhere,
you know, I just want to tell Roger can tell
in the NFL, you're welcome.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
I mean, you're welcome here.

We were just talking about there is a moment. There's
a clip that's been viral for a long time where

(18:25):
you're sitting with Chris Rock and you're at a Laker
game and Rock is talking to Kobe trying to engage.
What was he talking to Kobe trying to what was
going on in that scenario?

Speaker 9 (18:39):
Well, it was. It all happened so fast, and well,
you know, you can get our agency at these great seats.
In the old days, they might still be bumped right
up to the Laker bench. And it's very odd. I
felt bad for the players because you sit right next
to them, life arm to arm, and you've just got
random idiots whoever's got some heat on them. They're sitting

(18:59):
next to you game and they're sweating there in the
middle of the huddle, and I'm like, we maybe we
should try a sucker trap, you know, but and it's
it's it's it's a drag because they're there. But Kobe
sat there and and uh, half the game we'd switch,
you know, so we got to sit and pull it.
But they were all nice, all those players. But then,
you know, in the heat of the moment, I think Kobe,

(19:21):
it was just a very odd situation where the camera's
panning over from Kobe and Chris I think is talking
to him. Yeah, And then I was laughing because I
could tell it wasn't clicking because Kobe was momboed out,
you know.

Speaker 8 (19:35):
But okay, so what is Rock saying to Kobe?

Speaker 9 (19:39):
What he's saying is we don't know, but I know
he's saying a lot and he's just going on may
if he's talking to me, I couldn't hear moves so loud,
and if he's talking to Kobe, Kobe was worried about
something else. But it all looks funny. I like it all.

Speaker 8 (19:55):
Okay, But how do you get those tickets with your agency?
Like First Comfort Serve, you.

Speaker 9 (20:02):
Just have to ask and say, hey, can I come
to one of these games? Or sometimes I'll call and
say do you want the tickets tonight? And you know
it's a little bit of a they're so good, but
at the last second, sometimes they're like, oh, Mark Wahlberg
fell out. But sometimes you know, Rock is in town,
and last time I went to New York, I said,
I maybe went to the Knicks or maybe when he

(20:23):
came we went there. But usually they can shake him up,
shake it out if that's a term. And it's super fun.
When I did a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, oh thanks,
a couple of people, remember we the joke with that
Larry because NBC has two sets of tickets. They have
those down on the floor and they have some of
the rafts and Larry asked for tickets and they go, sure, Sure,

(20:45):
and the head of NBC gives them tickets, but they're
in the rafters and he goes I one of the
other tickets, and then I'm with the guy on the
floor from NBC and he's mad because he says Seinfeldt
was bigger than just shoot me. Why do I get
the floor seat?

Speaker 8 (21:00):
Which is a good argument, but there is a pecking
order of tickets that if Mark Wohlburg wants tickets, that
you're not getting the tickets.

Speaker 9 (21:09):
Well, I wouldn't make it that simple. I mean, I
think a little bit, but no, I would say I
would give them Wahlburg yeah, or I'll sit with Wahlburg,
you know what I mean. They sometimes go there's four
so sometimes the agent's usually you know, and then they'll
bring one of their clients or someone there courting, or
someone's got a movie coming. Sometimes they say you got

(21:30):
a movie coming out, Let's put you on the floor here,
Let's put you here at the UFC fight. Let's pepper
you around, sprinkle you and then it's just more promotion.

Speaker 8 (21:39):
I guess right, do you said it thanks to a Kardashian.

Speaker 9 (21:45):
No, I saw Kimberly at the fiftieth the SNL, and
I never see her. I never see any of the Kardashians.

Speaker 8 (21:51):
Shockingly, how was that event?

Speaker 9 (21:55):
Well, then let's look at a clip. No, it was.
I thought it was a lot of fun because because
we had everybody there, I thought the rehearsals were more fun.
It was three days this time. The fortieth was pretty quick,
but this was three days of rehearsing with different people
and just walking around and you know, it's your turf
a little bit, because I was honest and el So

(22:16):
you can go up to almost anyone and go, hey,
how's it going, and they have to give minutes. But
everyone's usually pretty like because there's no plus ones either.
It's just all it's all raw dogging. Just everyone is
there alone in the audience and stuff. But I had
a lot of fun, Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
So there's nobody you're nervous about walking up to and saying, hey,
oh yeah.

Speaker 9 (22:37):
There was I mean you just randomly. I saw Miley Cyrus,
who I think is great. I saw Jack Nicholson, who
you know, everyone will give you a few seconds. It's nice.
I mean Bill Murray was sitting next to me in
the audience and on the chart, and then I saw
him back stage. I said, I think I'm sitting next
to you, and he was obviously overjoyed. And then when

(22:59):
we got out there speat filler, the seat filler the
whole three hours. I'm like, what's happening. He never came out. Wow,
he said, they're eating like cantaloupe cubes they had cut
up in the back.

Speaker 8 (23:13):
Do you think that that because you went up to him,
that maybe that was the reason why he didn't come out,
and he had a seat filler spooped him. Maybe.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
I don't know if I spooked.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
Him down, because I am an alumni on cast member
number three eight four seven, six' two, one and uh
that's what says on my membership. Card and, no they
they set it all up and Like i'm over. Here
there's one SCENE i did in the end the show
WHERE i had to run in the audience and sit
down and we did a rehearsal AND i forgot the
audience is. Empty, REHEARSAL i have thirty, seconds SO i

(23:45):
run out of the sketch and run the. Audience and
then There's Jane curtains in my seat In Chevy chase
And they're, like, hey can you, Guys And i'm, like,
no one PLANS u ahead of. TIME i have to
scoop these legends out SO i can squeak in and
do my little bits.

Speaker 8 (24:00):
Humor it's.

Speaker 9 (24:01):
Fun it was.

Speaker 8 (24:03):
Funny, Yeah, dandelion the stand, Ups Why, Dandelion.

Speaker 9 (24:08):
Look at this banana in my hotel RUN i gets
seen better. Days this is hot off the. Presses this
is what they give.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
Me, Man, Man.

Speaker 9 (24:19):
I'll make some banana breadla, uh sorry to.

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Interrupt go, Ahead, dan.

Speaker 9 (24:27):

Speaker 9 (24:33):

Speaker 8 (24:41):

Be and, i'm like who? Cares? THIS pretend, i mean
you don't have to be. THAT great i think you

Goolag prison but we just do it from home and
you have a lot. OF chochkeys i, like it maybe,
too MUCH but i do like. Having, SOMETHING.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
Yeah i lead the league, in CHOKES but i. LIKE it,
i like, you know if if if The story i'm
telling isn't, that interesting maybe you find something on the
desk and then, you, go oh. That's, interesting yeah maybe
that's that's what.

Speaker 9 (27:42):
You need, you guys deputy?

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Go ahead do?

Speaker 8 (27:47):
You guys so you're fly on? The wall are you
dishing about things that Happen on saturday? Night long is
that THAT.

Speaker 9 (27:54):
We, i mean that's how, it started and. We did
we probably did two hundred, of those but. We do
we're going to all. VIDEO now i mean right now.
It's audio one of, them's audio and it's like. The
newspaper you got to get a little. Video going so
we are getting with we're catching up to twenty eighteen
and we're gonna be on video and then and so

(28:15):
it's on. YouTube also but, it's fun. You know we
talked to whoever a lot, of comics mostly, comedy people
but sometimes we branch out because we've kind of buzzed
through a lot of S and. L people it's definitely fun.
To do data. Is funny we just. Screw off.

Speaker 8 (28:29):
He's great when you pick a location a film, Is
special like what goes into you pick? That city how
much thought goes.

Speaker 9 (28:38):
INTO that i, would think how WHAT cities i do?
Well in what cities are good? Comedy cities denver IS
where i did this one is known for being good.
Comedy city my last One, was SEATTLE and i really,
liked it but it WAS. During, covid No, not seattle
it Was. In minneapolis it WAS, during covid so we
had problems filming because we had to move It from
austin because. Of masks AND then i didn't realize the

(29:00):
reason we moved it was because we had to wear Masks.
For netflix so. Not me but the crowd was a
little muffled because There were it wasn't ideal for, doing
comedy you KNOW what? I mean if they're like GOING
and i was listening back with MY open i, was,
on going are they this is A tough i don't

(29:21):
want a tough crowd on my Own spett AND so
i went OUT and i didn't even know because it's,
so bright, you Know because I'm like lives Of. AN eliam,
I go they're like, this cabaret, you know with the,
bright lights and then later, they're, like yeah they, they're
laughing but you can't.

Speaker 8 (29:37):
Hear them how do you know when you have a? Bad, crowd.

Speaker 9 (29:42):
Oh, YOU know i have one the. OTHER night i
don't blame. THE crowd i mean it might it's, Me
TOO but i was at the comedy store practicing for,
this run, AND uh i kind of want to give
them a, you know big razzle. Dazzle SHOW so i
go practice stuff cause it's very hard to, remember now
and OF course i mix in new stuff that's in
the special and that's not in, the special and so it's.

(30:06):
Very TRICKY like i got lost in the middle of something.
LAST night I think i was Talking About, bill BELICHICK
and i can't remember Even what. I'm saying so, THE
crowd i could, blame them but sometimes it's really It's
just i'm missing the connective tissue of jokes and what
goes Into the it's it's harder than, IT seems.

Speaker 8 (30:25):
I guess so you're working On A bill.

Speaker 9 (30:28):
Belichick, GIRLFRIEND well i mean it's an expirational bit that
will work for if it works, at all for another
week and. A half, but, yeah okay well we watch
something of the news and, you, GO hey i saw
the interview where his girlfriend is, off CAMERA and i
don't even care about the, age DIFFERENCE but, i thought,
you know cause she wore like a big sweatshirt and,

(30:48):
NO pants, i THOUGHT and i thought that was an
interesting look when there was a, crew there and then she,
you know interjected and she's walking On like Winnie the
pooh looked like a shirt with, no pants, You know
and but it could HAVE been i don't know what,
it WAS but, i thought what are you saving the
pants for? Sixty minutes and then And, then bill of
course he's not going to the. Met either he's got

(31:10):
like an old sweatshirt down with a little throw up,
on it and he's, just, like well we're Going. To
cleveland and they're. Asking him, they're, like hey who's? This
chick and, he's, like ah because he's never been asked
a non football question in twenty, seven years and, so
like what's going on here with? This skeezer and, he's
like we're going. TO rehearsal, i know that's not that's a.

(31:31):
LITTLE harsh i was, just, saying like that's. THEIR words
i wouldn't.

Speaker 8 (31:34):
Say, that yeah but you date, young TOO so i.

Speaker 9 (31:39):
Don't know if we need to interject.

Speaker 8 (31:40):
That rhythm i'm working. On Him, you well.

Speaker 9 (31:46):
THAT'S why I said i have a problem with. THAT
part i don't know a problem with any. OF it
i just have to think of stupid stuff. Talk ABOUT
but i, will say since literally everyone's younger, than me
NOW that i guess that is, The case I'M not
i look. Twenty two I'm.

Speaker 8 (32:01):
Not dan if you got rid of, the, mustache YEAH
like i think you think the mustache makes you. Look, older, beard.

could probably pass for about.

Why so, adam goes shave? Your, beard anyway. We can't by,
the way this is a. Side story first STORY was.

Speaker 9 (36:53):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (36:54):
No OKAY now i was told this before that it's
harder to be a, better actor, great actor if. You're taller,
any truth.

Speaker 10 (37:09):
There are a few actors of great height who are
actually who actually, became stars much many more who. Were
smaller but it is also true that most actors who
become stars have, large heads.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
Like elephant. Titus heads, you know they have to have
prop them up. Over there and blue eyes if you have.

Speaker 8 (37:35):
Light eyes, really, yeah okay who's got a? Big noggin
that's a. Great, actor.

Speaker 6 (37:43):
Well you just think about any brando grab a.

Speaker 10 (37:47):
Big, head, oh well enormous like. A, coconut yeah. He
was AND all, i mean all, these people even even,
the women women who have, larger heads have a better
chance to be a.

Speaker 6 (38:02):
Movie star.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
That's.

Speaker 8 (38:04):
Not true that's. Not True well.

Speaker 6 (38:07):
I'm trying, You Know.

Speaker 8 (38:12):
David hasselhoff had a, big head but not a. Great actor.

Speaker 6 (38:16):
He was he's a. LOVELY guy i was going to
say he was a. Lovely guy but he's. Still alive.

Speaker 10 (38:22):
NICE guy i did an episode Of bay watch back
in the DAY where I played i think my character
name was like drunken boat captain or something.

Speaker 9 (38:32):
Like that.

Speaker 8 (38:35):
But but you didn't have a speedo on like you
weren't running in slow motion On.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
On.

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Baywater, no No when.

Speaker 10 (38:43):
I'm in, skimpy underwear it's it's full on motion every
everything you want to, see.

Speaker 8 (38:48):
Everything apparently But Did walter white have to wear? Tidy?

Speaker 10 (38:53):
Whities no, you know that was interesting because after seven
Years of malcolm and In, the Middle where hal wore
tidy WHITIES because i thought it was appropriate because he
was just a, big boy so he never really. Grew
up and for, Some Reason vince gilligan Wrote That walter
white wore, tidy WHITIES.

Speaker 6 (39:15):
And i went to the wardrobe CALL and, i, SAID
well i just did.

Speaker 10 (39:18):
Seven YEARS so i tried on BOXERS and i tried
on law and, it's like you, know.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
What there's some reason that he, did This and i'm
just going to go.

Speaker 10 (39:29):
With it and that image of him in, the desert
that first poster of the gun and his, tidy whities
is so PATHETIC that, i, thought OH that's i think
that's the image he wanted to.

Speaker 8 (39:41):
Go for but how often do you question when you
have a director or there's something on the page where you,
offer feedback or you're going to stand up for what
you think might be right all.

Speaker 9 (39:55):
The time.

Speaker 10 (39:57):
All. The, time yeah you're constantly. MAKING adjustments i just
did a couple episodes of the show Of the studio
where my character at the end shows up, in leopard
very skinny bikini BRIEFS which, i.

Speaker 6 (40:11):
Chose and.

Speaker 10 (40:14):
Stockings with garter clips and, a girdle and where he
Wears a dicky is the most ridiculous looking guy in.

Speaker 6 (40:21):
The WORLD and i wanted.

Speaker 10 (40:25):
All of, those things and so we just adjusted it
To THOSE and I Surprised seth ROGEN when i walked
out of the room and he saw me for the
first time.

Speaker 8 (40:34):
On camera it's a great character because it came out,
of nowhere, you know first Episode and, i'm like oh.
My god, it's like, you know this combination of you're
going to try to bring in every studio head of
all the things that are negative about them or over
the top, about them and you just kind of combined
it with, one character and it, was like, all, right

(40:56):
Yeah that's hollywood. Right there it is kind.

Speaker 10 (40:59):
OF patterned i patterned Him After, robert evans famous studio
head Of the paramount in, the seventies did, great movies
but he was always, super tan bleached, his teeth he
always wore very.

Speaker 6 (41:14):
Masculine clothes he was that kind. Of guy his shirt
was unbuttoned to, his navel. You know and, It, was
hey maybe you know that, That dude so that's more
fun to play a guy.

Speaker 8 (41:25):
LIKE that i got the picture Here. From baywatch paulie
just sent it. To, me, wow okay those are short
shorts you, got on by, the way those were.

Speaker 6 (41:37):
The times don't tell me you didn't have short shorts
IN that i did in.

Speaker 8 (41:40):
This idea.

Speaker 6 (41:41):
Everybody did REMEMBER the nba back in.

Speaker 8 (41:44):
The, DAY yeah i, you know GROWING up i had,
short Shorts And JOHN stockton i think was like the,
last holdout like, you know he was the last guy
to wear. Short shorts what do you have on? This,
episode yeah With, on baby.

Speaker 11 (42:00):
That fine Episode Of baywatch november, Eighty Nine brian Cranston
Played Captain, tom logan and he was wearing like op
shorts and like those croaky glasses and his hair was
completely down the middle.

Speaker 8 (42:12):
AND feathered i could. Looks good were you at?

Speaker 6 (42:16):
That? Time, uh, Yeah yeah I've been ROBIN and i
have been married for thirty six. Years, now, yeah yeah okay. Eighty,
nine yeah but you're There.

Speaker 8 (42:26):

Women Room they did you catch anybody's? Eye there, YOU

Speaker 6 (42:58):
Fernanda valley and.

Speaker 8 (43:00):
Famous, CLASSMATES.

Speaker 6 (43:05):
No i didn't have any, famous classmates.

Speaker 7 (43:10):
Uh in.

Speaker 10 (43:10):
THE area, i, Think Well kevin spacey went to the
same high school a couple of years, after.

Speaker 6 (43:17):
Me but then transferred out to go to a better.
Theater school but outside, of that they're, really, no no,
no famous no.

Speaker 8 (43:28):
One famous tougher To get nick's tickets Courtside or laker tickets,
Court side.

Speaker 6 (43:35):
Laker tickets, courtside.

Speaker 8 (43:37):
Tougher, tougher yeah it's, just process it's. Just.

Speaker 10 (43:42):
Jam, well first there is A way i can give
advice to all the listeners and viewers about how to
get courtside. Seats first become a television star or a.
Movie star do, that first then you'll have a lot
better chance of getting court. Size SEATS but i did

(44:02):
get court side seats last year To, mix pacers.

Speaker 6 (44:09):
Had a, great time had a great time, watching it
and they're back at. IT again.

Speaker 8 (44:13):
I know but you know your sitcom Famous with malcolm
In the middle and then, breaking back like, You know
i'm going to guess, breaking bad you got it was
easier to get the tickets Than with malcolm In.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
The, middle yeah it gave me a.

Speaker 10 (44:31):
Higher, Profile, Absolutely okay, so yeah THAT'S what i get mostly.
RECOGNIZED for i would say i'd say like seven out
of ten people who approached, for You you, OKAY there.

Speaker 5 (44:45):
I think i just.

Speaker 8 (44:46):
BROKE something i mic, collapsed here.

Speaker 6 (44:51):
And that's how about seven out of ten people recognize
Me As. Walter, white YEAH.

Speaker 8 (44:57):
So i want to talk About The. Phoenician, scheme Yeah
Because wes anderson does things differently than. Anybody else how
would you describe what he does as. A, filmmaker.

Speaker 10 (45:12):
Well he is the truest sense of the. Word auteur
there is no way that anyone, Can, SAY oh I
think i Know what wes is thinking. ON this I
think i know where he's going to go.

Speaker 6 (45:26):
With this you just don't know. At all.

Speaker 10 (45:31):
It is a unique journey when you Do A wes
anderson movie because it's, always clever it's, always surprising.

Speaker 6 (45:41):
And it's just it's so.

Speaker 10 (45:43):
Much fun but the thing about from an actor's point,
of view Doing The phoenician Scheme Or asteroid city, before
that or it's the experience of being with him and
all the actors at the same table at the dinner
every night after, you work and that kind of camaraderie

(46:05):
was so. Much fun, In Fact tom hanks called it.
Actor camp it's a good hang and we and all
the actors, are there we're having wine and cocktails, and
food and we're talking about things that were worried about
or families and things like that without worrying about prying
eyes or ears, around us and we can just be

(46:27):
open and it's a lot.

Speaker 8 (46:28):
Of Fun So, TOM hanks i believe plays. Your brother
You Got michael sarah, In There, Scarlett johansson Venicio, Del, toro, yeah.

Speaker 10 (46:38):
Yeah, Pretty good Benedtt, And Cumberbatch. REZ ahmed i mean it's,
a big. Big Cast and TOM and i are. Playing
brothers well we think. We're brothers it was never, actually
established but they're so. So alike now there's a basketball
sequence in the Movie that TOM and i are, involved
in and when we go onto the set where where, he,

(47:02):
asked okay who who can?

Speaker 6 (47:04):
Do this and who could?

Speaker 10 (47:05):
Do that And, So tom, TOM'S going i can't really dribble,
Very well I'll go. I'll DRIBBLE and, i, SAID look
i got problems with. MY shoulders i got.

Speaker 6 (47:13):
Arts right and it's like if you went to The
assistant living center to get two.

Speaker 8 (47:21):
Basketball players people sent me that clip of you got
of you, shooting basketball wondering if you were trying to
model your shot after me for, some REASON and, i,
said well if he if he, was trying he didn't
do a very good job.

Speaker 6 (47:36):
Because HE because i made.

Speaker 8 (47:38):
Him, dripping no it wasn't dripping. With athleticism i'm just,
gonna say, you know as a, basketball player you're a.

Speaker 10 (47:43):
Great actor, Uh, YEAH no i wasn't modeling myself After
You You're you're they broke the Mold Of.

Speaker 8 (47:54):
Dan Patrick the phoenician scheme that Comes out, may thirtieth
and Then nationwide, june Second and everything's going To be
great that Comes out. June, twentieth yeah did you shoot
these around the. Same, Time no.

Speaker 6 (48:12):
Phoenicians game we shot. Last year everything's going To be
great we shot.

Speaker 10 (48:17):
Before it but it's like jockeying for position and who's
going to and what's the right time to come out with,
a movie and you know it's those decisions are made by.
Someone Else but everything's going To be great is also
a really it's a beautiful Film, With alison janny, and
myself and it reminded me Of A Little miss sunshine from.

(48:39):
Years ago it's funny and sweet and sad. And engaging,
yeah Anyway.

Speaker 8 (48:46):
Little, miss sunshine that final, dance scene no fun stuff
brings down. The, House Yes. ALAN arka i mean there's
so many great performances. In, there, well yeah it's one
of those little sneaky surprise movies where, you're, LIKE damn
i don't you know everybody when you watch, MOVIES like

(49:06):
i don't know it's going to. Be nominated everything's gonna.
Be nominated instead of just, WATCHING movies i think we're, always,
like well what's gonna do at the? Box office is
anybody gonna go see this in the? Movie theaters it's
kind of like. THE pressure i don't know how different
it is now than, let's say, you know fifteen. Years
ago it's a.

Speaker 10 (49:22):
Lot different when YOU and i, were kids, every show every,
morning show every news show had a movie and television
reviewer specifically to relate to the audience what they felt
was good of. High quality they fired all of, those
people and so now the newsreaders just read off what

(49:45):
made the most money last weekend at the box office
as if that's the indication.

Speaker 6 (49:50):
Of quality and so it's it's kind. Of sad so
you really need the word of mouth to be able
to say don't miss this movie or.

Speaker 8 (49:56):
THAT movie pauli told me that they're might, be uh
we're Bringing back malcolm In. The middle is there, a
yeah we.

Speaker 6 (50:05):
Did it we shot. It already oh you?

Speaker 5 (50:08):

Speaker 8 (50:10):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (50:10):
We did we did four Episodes for disney and they
we just.

Speaker 10 (50:16):
Finished it so that'll be out probably either later this
year or early. Next year, AND man i got to,
tell you it was so. Much fun all the all
the kids. Came back and, you know it's funny because
the Boys from malcolm In the middle are all around
the same AGE that i was when we first started

(50:37):
the show twenty five. Years, ago wow they have kids of.
Their own it's so great to see and and and
the and the adults that. They've become it's.

Speaker 8 (50:46):
Really fantastic when you do the race, walking scene do
you do you still have? That Outfit because i'd love
to put it in. A mandicate oh?

Speaker 6 (50:56):
Would you it would have to be.

Speaker 8 (50:58):

Yes yes i'd get. A, mannequin well let me.

Speaker 6 (51:03):
SEE if i can get it, for You because i'd
love to see it on. Your, show.

Speaker 8 (51:08):
Well why don't you drop everything that you're doing and
like do something, for me like? Right now?

Speaker 6 (51:14):
Like right that was that. Was implied of course i'body. Dropped, everything, yes.
ABSOLUTELY absolutely i don't like.

Speaker 8 (51:23):
Nothing, else no don't read any scripts. Or anything, it's,
LIKE nope. I can't i'm sending you an Outfit from
malcolm In the Middle To.

Speaker 6 (51:31):

Speaker 10 (51:33):
HAVE it i, don't know, but man that was, a funny,
funny THING and, i was, YOU know i was real.
TRIM then i was like one seventy two or.

gonna put it on.
