Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Happy to be here, in for DP, the Dan Patrick
hat trick yesterday, today, tomorrow, then regular time on Thursday
five to seven on the East and then no and
then we're in for DP on Friday. So it's technically
a haul this week, but we love it. What's up?
DP nation? Can you know you love it? Again? Covino
(00:25):
and Rich Proud to be here, Proud to have a
new YouTube channel, big announcement this week. We're simulcasting on YouTube,
but we ask you to subscribe YouTube dot com at
Coveno Rich FSSR. So it's YouTube dot com slash at
Covino and Rich FSSR. And we can be friends. You
(00:46):
can watch us. Yeah, I'm here in my little hoodie
because it's cold here in the studio. It's it's absolutely free.
There's no reason why you shouldn't do it. Hey, if
you asked me to do it for you, I would. Hey,
we got a lot, we're gonna get to this hour.
Some NFL baseball. We got forty games left, We're seventy
five done. Some teams are falling off the cliff. Other
(01:10):
teams have won ten in a row. Since their coach
put pancakes in their pocket. Now, speaking of baseball, what
before we give away prizes? Get you involved. We'll take
a few phone calls. Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
I gotta tell you about Derek Jeter and his first
(01:31):
possible misstep and what's the worst injury. There's a story
involving old timer's day this past weekend and Coller Zillich
Connor Zilich. Have you seen the Connor at zillag story?
Oh my goodness. We'll get to that. But let's take
a caller involve his collar bone. Yeah, exactly. Let's get
(01:51):
into Johnny in Minnesota. What's up Johnny? Being on Rich?
What up? Ay Man? Hey? I hope you guys don't
remember what I said yesterday on Oh Johnny, You're forever
part of our show. I last for hours after at
But anyways, but.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Today, if you missed it yesterday he said, oh crap, wait,
wait what happened?
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Hey, Johnny? I burnt my pizza. He burnt his pizza
at like thirty in the morning. Hold on, Johnny, hold
on one second. If you don't know what we're talking about,
which I imagine you don't. Yesterday Johnny called up and
in the middle of his called Sam, you have the
clip right? Where do you have it? Danny? Or now
we'll have to effort that. Oh fine, I thought you
(02:40):
had it on standby. In the middle of his call,
He's like, oh crap, there I go again, or something
something very bizarre. But what's up today, Johnny? I'm just
I just want to talk about the David Justice and
Holly berry Man. I don't know why would he get
rid of why would he get rid of that? I
would take that average all day long, because there's more
(03:03):
to life than being ridiculously good looking, you know, it's
really it. He wasn't short of any other beautiful women.
He didn't feel that bad for her because he's thinking, yeah,
she's got any dude she wants. She's a successful Hollywood star.
She didn't make his heart go pitter Penard. That's really
what it was. He liked her. He looks back and
(03:26):
realized she loved him, but the honeymoon stage was over,
and he just couldn't see her being the mother of
his kids, and he couldn't see him spending the rest
of his life with her. He couldn't grow old with her.
That's what he said, you don't need to tie everything
together to sports just because it's Fox Sports Radio. But
(03:46):
I find constantly Johnny's thinking about that scene in Monsters Ball.
We're talking Moneyball, not monsters, but I think we all are,
say Halle Berry shwing, I will say it's it's so
typical to want to tie them together because I think
sports and relationships have so much in common, which is
(04:06):
why I've always been drawn to both. I always found
the dating world and relationships fascinating, same with sports. I
think when David Justice realized, you know, I can't see
her being the one to do these things I need right,
he didn't see her as the mother of his kids are. Honestly,
I find that to be extremely mature. He talks about
(04:27):
how immature he was. I don't know, man, that's kind
of tough. It's easy to fall in love with a
beautiful woman and hope for the best and look past
it sometimes. I mean a lot of times people make
that mistake. I think it was mature of him, because
I think that's very mature. I think, if you're not
gonna give me what I need, then then I'm willing
to let this beautiful woman go. Because of that, and
(04:49):
it's extremely mature. And I'm not just saying that because
we're gona see him the hallway. I'm really saying that
because that's I think that's my problem. To compare it
to sports, I feel like a lot of times a
team will have of a leader or a player and
you could say they no more in Boston. Sometimes when
you realize, like, yeah, they're I like them, but they're
(05:11):
not the one that's gonna get us there quarterbacks in
the NFL, you might say to yourself, you know, I
like tough decisions. Yeah, I like this person. They're a
good guy. They seem like a good good guy in
the locker room, but you we're not gonna win a
super Bowl with this guy at the helm. And that's
why teams move on, because sometimes you have to have
that maturity in you to say, you know what, we're
(05:33):
gonna move on. And the Huevos, Yeah, you know, we
all put a lot of people, myself included, put up
with stuff that I probably shouldn't in personal life and
professional life. But to make those moves requires a sense
of confidence in Huevos and maturity that I think it
(05:55):
would take to say peace out to Halle Berry.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, as the saying goes, oh thank you.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Jo So speaking to David Justice, he played with one
of your childhood heroes, number two, Derek Jito. Man, this
is like a two part doozy, did Derek Jeter, Miss
step I bring that up reluctantly, reluctantly crouched here at
(06:27):
the microphone because Rich said it one of my heroes.
I think he's great. I think he created the blueprint
how to succeed in New York City and if you
can make it there, you can make it anywhere. As
they say. But that dude did everything right, came in big,
and every big moment just the winner. Maybe that's why
(06:48):
he didn't want to be associated with the Yankees this year.
He's they stink. I don't know, or maybe he's putting
his broadcasting career first, or his priorities are different, or
maybe he's got something up his sleeve. But maybe he
had maybe the aspirations with another team, right like, we
don't know that. Maybe he's holding out for something else.
But the story is this this past weekend, my birthday weekend.
(07:11):
This past weekend, on my birthday actually was Old Timer's
Day and for the first time they celebrated the two
thousand New York Yankees, the World Series champions that beat
Riches Mets. It was a squad and you know the rocket,
Roger Clemens was there. I saw Paul O'Neill with a
(07:34):
gray poofy hair. Now he's got a poof of door.
Paul O'Neill almost struck out, and then he then he
ripped an ice line drive. Yeah, so was there. David
cohane was throwing who wasn't there, Derek Derek Jeter was
a no show and I think he was the captain,
like just two or three years later, but he was
(07:54):
the centerpiece of that team. And to have everybody show up,
from superstars to ancillary dudes and not have Jeter there,
and that's very odd. I mean, we extremely talked about
this a week or so ago when we said it's
like if the Patriots did a whole tribute to the
(08:15):
dynasty that was, and Tom Brady's like, yeah, guys, I'm
not making it, then you resc I think you reschedule
for when Tom Brady can make it. I think the
fact that Jeter's not at a tribute to the two
thousand Yankees, to me, it's like a little bit of
a am too cool for the moment? TC? Too cool
moment when you got guys like Bernie Williams there, Pisada,
(08:39):
his boys, the Core four were there. Pettit was there,
but he wasn't come on. But the story is this,
he had a birthday party for his daughter that he
was not canceling. So that's story number one. It's like,
does that take precedence? I know you got to be
there for your family and he probably no. I'm sure
he did put off. He put off so much of
personal time all for his career that now he's a dad,
(09:02):
he's like, now this is my priority. You could say
I respect that, or you can say, hey, you could
reschedule a birthday party anytime, can't you? Yeah? I mean
what is that kid? Now? You know there are things
that are adjustable and things that are not. If your
kid has their dancery title, you could say, well, listen,
I'm prioritizing my kids dancer sitle. They're not going to
(09:25):
move the dancery title. But when you book your kid's
birthday party at your house, at a Chuck e Cheese,
at a Dave and Buster's, when you're Derek Jeter, you
can move the party. Yeah, it's not a setting stone, like, well,
you're not gonna move your kid's holiday concert at school.
I know you can't do that, but what you could
do is make adjustments when you're the captain and one
(09:46):
of the most famous baseball players over the last fifty years.
But now you're trying to decide, well, did Jeter do
the right thing? Did he do the right thing Spike
Lee's style, so did he miss step by not going
That's a debate with the itself. We've talked about that.
I choose to believe he's got something up his sleeve
(10:07):
because I'm a big fan. I don't want to believe
he has this elitist vibe to him as social media
and some articles you read say I think Jeter is
one of the greatest. That's my personal opinion. But did
he do the right thing in retrospect? Because here's what happened,
and I'm getting conflicting stories on this again. I was
(10:28):
riding the teacups at Disney World when this happened. But
I saw the footage too. Marianna Rivera is in the
outfield like he would do in his playing days. That's
how he got hurt in his last year. Remember his
last year, he was taking fly balls. They always said,
here's the thing, always said, Marianna Rivera might be the
(10:49):
best athlete on the team. He could play any position,
he was that good. And he used to love to
shag fly balls. You should see him in the outfield.
He's in the outfield and he twist his ankle. He's
out for the year, and then and then he extends.
It was supposed to be Mo Rivera's last year. You
might forget that. Covenio's right, It might be something that
(11:10):
people forget. Mo Rivera was supposed to retire, gets hurt
out for the season, So I can't go out that way.
So they said to push back his farewell tour by
a year, an extra He played an extra year because
his final year he got hurt. Shag and fly balls
in practice, pregame just for fun. So it's old timer's
(11:30):
day and he's doing the same thing. He's doing the
same thing because Rivera and her sandman loves the shag
fly balls. What people always say, what like you said
best athlete in the clubhouse. Like they always said that
he was a great athlete and he loved to just
play ball. But dude, there's a there's a clip that
a fan took where you see him aggravate. He's like
(11:54):
his actually is his achilles and he goes down. Ah.
But then I read an article that says he wrote
the single and during that bat by Willie Randolph, he
took a step and fell behind second base. So I
(12:14):
think that's what really sealed the deal. But he had
heard it earlier and Roger Clems and other players said
he needed surgery and he tore his achilles. So old
timer's day, you're pushing yourself a little bit. You got
Mickey Rivers in centerfield. He's one hundred and seventy nine
years old. These guys are old, some of these dudes, right.
You know, maybe he did the right thing because he
(12:35):
didn't want to be remembered as as the old guy
who can't play the way he used to. He wants
to be remembered as Derek Jeters diving into the stands.
See now he got this image again of Marianna Rivera, Like, really, man,
he got hurt again, like his he tore his achilles.
Damn that sucks. I know he got this old guy
impression of the sandman. I don't think. I don't think
(12:58):
anyone cares about the old guy pressure because we all
get I think, dude, now he needs surgery. But I
just think he's playing old timers down. I just think
it's a bummer for him that he's like, are you
kidding me? Like I went back for one day to play,
to do it for the fans to see my old pals,
and now I have to recover from a surgery and
or exactly what sealed the deal for Rivera In the story,
(13:20):
you see him get hurt twice, but he needs surgery
now as a result, and people are like, oh damn,
So maybe Jeter did the right thing in retrospect when
you see what could potentially happen and how you're remembered. Well, right,
I think I think today we're going to play a
little game called what's worse? And now there's another story
(13:40):
from this past weekend. You have to watch this Connor
Zilich when's the race and NASCAR. He celebrating and he
gets out of the car like dukesa hazard, right, He
gets out of the car and he puts his foot
up with the window. As he gets out, he trips
up on his own feet. It looks a little slippery.
(14:01):
I don't know what happens and he falls out of
the car like bad, real bad. Yeah, this was victory lane.
So he's standing up on the windows the car. He
stands up, you know, in celebration. It's like Kendris Morales
sort of situation. In celebration, he gets hurt when when
(14:23):
he jumped and landed on home plate and that was it, dude,
that was the worst. That was the worst. Or but
what's the worst injury? What happened to Moe? Because it's
embarrassing moa rivera Oldheimer's day or Connor Zillig here because
in celebration he gets up and falls out of the
car and you don't know if like he hit his
head or what. Yeah, we're we're streaming it right now.
(14:47):
Watch us here he goes to stand up foot on
the wind that look, there's.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
The slip and he's got his foot caught in the
netting and he landed like you know in family guy,
when they fall down the stairs, they land a lot
toward laying their hands and legs are.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
All the place. That's what he looked like.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
That was motionless. They had to get an ambulance. Broken
collar bone.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
It's like that woman that famous viral clip years ago
when she's stomping grapes on the news and she falls
out of the grape.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
So then she knocks the windo out of herself and
she's like, and I believe that moment there broke a
collar bone.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
That's exactly what happened to him. The best part of
that clip is when they went back to the dude
the du desk like, oh, she's okay, Oh oh, oh
man oh.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
The sad part about that Connor Zillich clip though, everything
he was cheer He was like, yeah, it's cheersing a
red Bull, and then when he fell down, the red
bull was just spilled and just trickling out of the can.
It was just laying there like some sad prop.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah, it doesn't necessarily work for red Bull. Bad endorsement,
those are those are bad ones. I think the question
that was what's worse going back to an old timer's
game and reminding everybody that you're an old timer the
legend or being in on Victory Lane, which is where
I know you've looked at real estate. It's beautiful, the
Victory Lane. Wasn't she one of your favorite porn Stars,
(16:09):
Victory Lane, the cover of Penhouse. When you're on Victory
Lane and you're celebrating and you fought to your car
break your collar bone, and it goes from the greatest
moment of your life to jes say, collar bone. Huh horrible.
He says it like he's saying harbor sound like Charles
(16:30):
Barkley car home. So so he broke his collar bone.
What's war is that? Mo Rivera? I got the you know,
the saddest one to me ever, is uh, the late Great.
I hope he's late Great, because I don't want to
get this wrong. Dom Baylor, he's passed away. Yes, he
has the late great, legendary baseball player Dom Baylor. Danny.
(16:54):
Have you ever seen the clip of him catching a
ceremonial first pitch Flad Guerrero until he gets down in
a catcher position. I remember he was sick and he
was you're right ill at the time, and you see
his leg buckle and it's an older Don Bell there.
It goes in like an opposite direction while he's taking
(17:16):
a knee and they try to pick him up and
very quickly realize like no, his leg is like mangled
and it was all in an attempt to be a
catcher for a ceremonial first pitch, and I remember always
thinking that to me, was one of the sadder And
this really comes down to sad injuries that happened and
what should be awesome moments, right, sad injuries in celebrating
(17:38):
a Grand Slam, being paid tribute at an all at
an old Timers game, winning a NASCAR race, these are
moments of glory. They should have resulted you being like
and not to get off track. But maybe that's why
Jeter doesn't want to be involved, not necessarily because he's
scared of injury, but he's like, I don't want to
be viewed as an old timer. Get out of here,
old timer. I think that has a lot to do
(18:00):
with it. Yeah, there's there's plenty of time to be
an old guy, and then right now is not my time.
I'm trying to build a reputation here as a broadcaster
with Fox Sports. Old timer Yeah maybe for you guys,
not for me. I feel that way.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Remember when Gus Farott went to celebrate and jammed his
neck into the wall.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
He did a headbutt, right, Yeah, that was a classic one.
I mean, Kevin Brown did he punched a wall on
the dog out like that?
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Was it a gramatica who who pulled up blame after
celebrating a kick?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Dude? Why am I drawing a blank? There was a
forty Was it green Law? Hold on hurt? At Super Bowl?
Do you remember? I gotta look this up because Tedgen Junior.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
He injured himself I think after a kick returned for
a touchdown once during the celebration.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
The forty nine ers. Yeah, it was Tray Greenlaw, Drake
Greenlaw during the Super Bowl in Vegas against the Chiefs.
I was at the game. I know it on TV.
They didn't even show it much either. At first. Forty
nine Ers impact player no longer with the team. He's
a Bronco right, Drake Greenlaw suffered a freak Achilles tendon tear.
(19:17):
It's right before the second half. If you remember that
game was close. I believe the Niners it was tied
or the Niners were up at halftime. They're about to
go on the field Covino. In the second half, green
Law is on the sideline just doing like he's hyping
himself up, like jumping getting ready. He's almost doing like
a little like stutter step getting ready to go on
the field, and out of nowhere you just see him
go oh and false and honestly, Kyle Shanahan, everyone on
(19:40):
the person, I was like, Yo, what what happened to Dre?
It was a no contact injury, dude, it was a
freak Achilles like tear. You know what Rich just made
me think of? I mean, it's really taking this next level.
But it's one of our favorite stories because I think,
if you're gonna go, this is how you do it.
There was a famous story like five to ten years ago,
go of of an old timer who bowled his whole life. Yeah,
(20:05):
and he bowled his first three hundred game. He's like,
it's like an older fella, and in celebration of his
three hundred game, Steve Ache, he has a heart attack
and dies. You're like, oh man, you want to do it? Yeah,
So these celebrations, these moments, these freak injuries. What's worse?
(20:31):
This Connor Zillage story again, you gotta see it. It's
so bad. I feel so bad for the guy because
how embarrassing too? Can we like really point that out?
The guy's celebrating ullo and then breaks a collar bone
and his broadcast that everywhere and you're viral for that,
like because they in the moment. It's it's like, this
is supposed to be your awesome moment and you just
totally blue. And he's whipping around a racetrack. That's so embarrassed.
(20:54):
The man he's got a bottle of he's got a
red Bull or whatever he's about to celebrate. Everyone's like, yeah, man,
there's spring champagne. Oh dude, that's slippery on that. Yeah,
but that's embarrassed. Yeah, oh it's unfortunate. But that's embarrassing
as hell. Dude, you know you got that or the
rivera injury, because again, that's embarrassing too. You don't want
to be the old guy who gets hurt. It's like
(21:15):
our buddy Jay Stu, who works here, he played one
softball game with rich one softball game to fill in,
and he like tore a muscle like at that game
and had a leaf he pulled it. I think he
pulled a hammy or something. Yeah, he'll be all right.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
But it's the funny thing is he plays softball all
the time with his son, so he just came out
to a different softball game ends up getting hurt and
He's like.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah, but last impression for all his buddies is uh,
Jay Stu is an old guy who got hurt in
one game. Hamstring off the guy. Hey all riches, but
he's like, hey, rich remember when you vouched for that
guy and he came here and he pulled the muscle. Yeah,
that was funny.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Then he had to go while he's still walking around
San Francisco right now with a with a with a limp.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Uh, you don't remembered. It's It's really what it comes
down to, is you're remembered for this in a weird way.
Like that's like even we mentioned Kendry Morales, like guy
had a great career, we still remember his stupid injury
when he was celebrating, because it's embarrassing and unfortunate. You're right, Danny,
you mentioned it. There's been more than one kicker that
You're right. They hit a field goal in celebration, like
(22:14):
hopped Grammatica. I looked it up.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
He tore his acl when he celebrated after making his kick.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
It's so unfortunate, but hey, wishing him well. Who's it again?
Connor Zilich and Mo Rivera, who too bad injuries over
the week. You know, you got to assume like, even
though he's not active, do you think he wants to
do you think he wants to be at home recouping
from a surgery because he foolishly tore an achilles. Oh yeah,
(22:44):
by the way, if you haven't seen him, Mo Rivera,
he's in great shape, man, But again, not the same
guy he was. And here's what I don't know. I
don't know if it's the same foot, the same leg
that he injured all those years ago, but unfortunate either way.
Speaker 1 (23:00):

We were interrupting our promo.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah, you wasn't talking about you.

You took those clips totally of context.

Oh yeah, Well, after this promo. I'm gonna take you

Yee, welcome in, Good morning to you. It's Dan Patrick Show,
Fox Sports Radio, iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Doute.
Speaker 7 (24:01):
With Dan Byer, Jason Stewart, Chris Proffet. I'm Doug Gottlieb,
the Doug Gottlieb Show crew sitting in for Dan and
the Dan Nuts here as we get ready for football season. Well,
we continue to ride out the wave of the Brewers
winning streak, the Angels winning streak. Huh, you can put
a halo on that one as the angel sweep the Dodgers.
(24:25):
I'm sure there's other stuff going on in sports, and
we're gonna get to this Shador Sanders topic in one second.
I do think that there's this is a real thing.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Dan.
Speaker 7 (24:35):
I think this year has been a abject disaster for
the WNBA. From this standpoint, you can be the most
ardent WNBA. I can't stand the women and how they
treat Caitlin Clark or the level of play or the
promotion of it, or putting them on ads instead of
(24:55):
NBA players or whatever. There's plenty of guys out there
that feel that way, right, But their main attraction is
Caitlyn Clark. She has not played during the meat of summer,
and by the time she comes back and plays, football
is being played, and zero people care about the WNBA
(25:20):
now and there was a there's a growing following. And
I'm just telling you, like that last summer not putting
her on the Olympic team was messy. It probably helped
her personally, as she it was just too much of
a whirlwind and she kind of got her stuff together
for the playoff run, but it did not promote the sport.
(25:40):
And then the one woman that drives ratings to the
sport isn't playing all summer, and she'll come back and play.
By the time she comes back, some plays, it's the
end of August. We're onto football. College football starts in
with two weeks.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
It's over.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Like you want to talk.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
About missing a window, right, I was thinking about that
last time. I was like, Hey, what's missing? Why has
there been zero to talk about for like three weeks
outside of Chador whatever. And I know it's usually this way,
but i'd landed on Hey. Last summer, we were talking
about Olympics WNBA Caitlin Clark, and she's very much still alive,
(26:22):
still playing basketball, but injured. Right now during the one
time of year nothing else was going on to anybody,
what's talk about it?
Speaker 8 (26:28):
And here's the scary thing. A college football is a
week from Saturday away because of week zero, the full
schedule obviously coming up with August twenty eight, two weeks
from today, and then obviously on Saturday, August thirtieth, we
get a full slate of games. But Doug, to your
point about the WNBA, I don't think any storyline was
(26:48):
able to grow. And I thought maybe we were going
to get that. I thought we were maybe going to
get more players receptive to Caitlin Clark. We saw Sophie
Cunningham make a name for herself, and she made quite
a name for self and sticking up for her. But
I thought something was interesting when the Connecticut Sun played
the Fever and they moved a game to Boston, and
(27:09):
this was after the little melee that they had earlier
in the season. And I'm like this could be good
for the WNBA to get Connecticut Sun fans, maybe to
be a rival of the Indiana fever. That did not happen.
There was no ability to make a rivalry with Paige
Becker's and the Dallas team because Caitlin Clark hasn't been available.
Nothing was able to progress this year, and if anything,
(27:31):
maybe it took a step back because we see that
it is so Caitlin Clark driven.
Speaker 9 (27:37):
Don't you think that the contrast has been offered up though?
Because Doug's point that it's been a disaster for the WNBA,
can't you make a case that it's been a net
positive for Caitlin Clark and that she proved in her
absence how valuable she is to an entity. This coming
off of her declining to do that stupid three on
(27:58):
three league, coming off of get A not being included
on the Olympic team. This whole Sophie Cunningham storyline is
all about her protecting Kitlin Clark. That's her brand. She's
gotten the podcast, she's gotten the ad time because of
protecting Kitlin Clark. So maybe a disaster for the w
the other part to it, but net positive for Katen Clark.
Speaker 7 (28:21):
There's another part to the Sophie Cunningham, Right, She's an
attractive woman that plays basketball, right, and she's flirty with
with how she looks at the camera.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
So I mean, I think, but yes.
Speaker 9 (28:32):
Being white and straight too, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
All those things, all those things were, all those things were.
But I think most of it is that the part,
it's the connection. She's she's, you want to, riding the
wave of Kitlyn Clark, or she's catching some of that
that whitewash of Kaitlyn Clark along with you know, being
attractive and you know, being completely different from what our
images of WNBA players was for the past twenty five years,
(28:58):
which has allowed us to hier focus on a fifth
round pick at quarterback. Right, It's like we just we
have to pay attention to something. And I even think,
like the Micah Parsons thing, because the Cowboys thing happens
every single year, right, every single year. It's like, hey,
who can we curate some sort of salary drama. We
(29:21):
know Jerry's ultimately gonna pay him, let's ask for an
obscene amount of money. Maybe it's not the time, maybe
it's not the place. And then Mike Parson's really good
cowboys aren't, but they're not terrible. You're gonna pay him.
He's doing a hold in. He's really under contract for
three more years without negotiation if they want to, so
it's gonna get done. It was kind of agreed to.
(29:43):
Then the agent was like, yo, anyway, I think people
are completely over talking about the Cowboys, Like, let me
know when the Cowboys lose late in the season and
fall out of the playoffs so I can make fun
of them, or let me know if they get to
the playoffs and lose early so I can make fun
of them.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
But I've seen this movie. I know how it ends.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
So instead we're hyper focusing on Shador Sanders, which brings
us to Dan Byer your thought on Shador.
Speaker 8 (30:05):
Yeah, so earlier in the week, Doug, I just made
the point that with the music playing in week one
of a preseason game where he hadn't gotten a lot
of snaps with film crew following him around, that those
were the things that I didn't think NFL teams wanted
to deal with or felt that there was a lot
of extra with Shador, and which was one of the
(30:27):
reasons why he fell in the NFL draft and for
as great as he played on that Friday night against Carolina.
It was everything that was extra about it. That was
the reason or that I felt that he fell in
the draft and none of that had changed, so there
wasn't an opportunity for Shador Sanders to maybe do things
(30:48):
a bit different. The reason why he fell to the
fifth round, I felt was because of everything that was
extra with him that teams didn't want to deal with.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
Yeah, yeah, I actually I'll draw a comp to what
we went through last year. You know, you get the
job late and we're on what's called APR probation APR probation,
So APR probation, we can only practice five instead of
six days a week, and those four hours of practice
time that we lost have to be mandatory study hall
(31:21):
for your team, right, And it's not because.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Of my team.
Speaker 7 (31:23):
It's like two years previous team was an academic disaster. Anyway,
The point was that when we every player we took,
we had to take with the mindset of, okay, what
happens if he flunks out. We can't have a guy
flunk out because you have a certain number of points.
You know, everybody has to be eligible, and then if
(31:44):
they leave, they have to go find a school has
to be a four year school. There's all these rules
with they have to get a certain GPA in order
to transfer to a four year school to a junior college.
They're a freshman to another school, they got to get
a you know, a two point five. Otherwise they hurt
you atandemically. So we had to evaluate who we take
(32:04):
based upon how hard they were.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
To get rid of.
Speaker 7 (32:09):
It makes sense, yes, And I think that was a
real thing for Shador Sanders, which was, you know, he
clearly blew off a bunch of these meetings and was
disengaged and frankly rude.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Everybody says it.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
I've heard from real NFL people that it was in
many ways worse just because this was their way of
I don't want to be drafted by that team. And
you know, coaches everyone talks to everyone in the industry,
they just do. So then word got out that Shador
Sanders was a complete jerk in these meetings, and then
(32:43):
you start to factor in, Okay, well I might like him,
but Dion's gonna want my job. Does he wants to
coach his kid? And oh yeah, by the way, you're
gonna have a film crew. You're gonna have his boys.
You have a kid that comes from a kid that
comes from money. So there's the perception, whether it's real
or not, that he's arrogant, that he's entitled. Nobody wants
(33:07):
entitled on a sports team, especially from a guy who's
not a first round draft pick. You know, and then
you have to factor in your mind, Okay, what happens
if we cut him? Because that's a big reason Kaepernick.
There's lots of reasons Kaepernick was never back in the NFL. Okay,
he didn't want to be a backup, and he was
at the point in his career where he had to
(33:27):
be a backup and then potentially earn it or get
a little luck. Guy gets hurt and then you get
an opportunity. But it was the big part was and
I talked to a GM I remember at the time,
said it's not that if I bring him in, it'll
be great, It'll be well received. He's a talented guy.
He's probably a backup at the stage in his career.
You know, he's not great at reading a defense. Remember
he can only scramble out to his right. There's a
(33:49):
lot of things that but it was what happens if
I cut him. If I cut him, I get me
called a racist. I gotta lose half my locker room.
What happens for shudor Sanders if we cut him? You
know what what happens?
Speaker 2 (34:02):
What? How are we received? Do we do?
Speaker 7 (34:04):
We look like clowns for taking this guy on? So
I yeah, I do see that. I I completely agreed
with your take, which is the the play on the
field was fine.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
It was good. It was good.
Speaker 7 (34:20):
I still don't know how good an army has, right,
it's still against but whatever, Like, let's not diminish.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
It was good. Sure, I agree, But it's the you.
Speaker 7 (34:27):
Show up and you're a fifth round pick and you're
fourth in the depth chart, and you got a dude
bring in music, hold another guy holding your bag, Get like,
what what are we doing? That's not how quarterback is
played in the NFL. Quarterback it's very much like a
political position where you got to rally everybody behind you
(34:49):
and you got it the same reason that politicians they
go and do they go to these like diners or
they go get ice cream, and they always you know
what they always wear. They always wear a blue button
now in dress shirt. They don't wear a tie and
they roll up their sleeves. Right now, all these guys
are ridiculously rich. Trump's the only one to be like,
(35:13):
I'm rich. I'm wearing my stuff. I'm wearing the same
suit every day. Like I don't even know if he
has like any you know, anything else to wear. But
all these other politicians they do because that's the job.
You're supposed to look like the everyman. Right, I'm just
roll up my sleeves, no tie. Right, I'm one of you.
Like what but that's where and and there's definitely a
(35:37):
section of fans that think that this is about things
that it's not about. That's just hey, hey, it's a
young black man trying to trying to, you know, push
the envelope what's acceptable, Like, well, there's the young black
man was drafted number one overall quarterback this year, Like,
what are we doing? It's happened ten times. It's not
about that. It's about the appearance of being humble, not entitled,
(36:02):
and motivated to prove everybody wrong. Right, And that part
he's obviously motivated to prove everybody wrong, but it's it's
the delivery still feels like he doesn't actually get it, and.
Speaker 8 (36:18):
It still has actually got it, and it feels like
that he wants to do it on his own terms.
And the point that I will stand by and I
don't take anything back for what I said was it's
also a little bit of an indictment on the NFL.
But again, the NFL and these teams are in charge.
So when you're applying for a job or going for
a job, you want to be able to show your
(36:42):
worth and fit in. And I just found it surprising
instead of carrying a veteran's stuffel bag into the locker
room like a rookie normally would that, another teammate of
his was playing Shador's own song in week one of
a preseason game, and I just I it was surprising
to me, and it felt like it was a lot
(37:03):
and at that point, like if it was week one
of a regular season game where he had won the job,
maybe maybe there's something to that.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Maybe at that point you can do it.
Speaker 8 (37:12):
But I just felt, in week one of a preseason game,
do you need your own soundtrack walking into the stadium?
And I just didn't think so. I thought the Tony
Grossi interview that was recorded, which Tony ended up approaching Shador,
but Tony didn't know that they were recording. That's another
aspect of it. It's not that the NFL is Scott
(37:34):
free and it's all blamed on Shador, but that's where
you would think a lot of the responses came from
that Shador is the victim in all of this and
what's happening in Cleveland because he was the one that
was taken in the fifth round, that he's the one
that's not getting the first team reps. Like that's sports,
that's that's that's what you got to deal with. This
is no different than other quarterbacks. So to put paint
(37:56):
Shador as a victim here, which I don't think Shador
is trying to do. I think it's I think it's
the fan base of Chadoor that's trying to do that.
I just I don't agree with that at all.
Speaker 7 (38:06):
Yeah, it it definitely it's given us something to get
us through kind of this preseason. We're talking about the
Browns and their current fourth string quarterback. It has distracted
us from talking about Deshaun Watson, who's still like working out.
You know, they changed his contracts. I think they got
him for a couple more years. Like that's gonna be
weird when he we have. He mentioned like he's going
(38:27):
to come back at some point and want to play football.
It's it's gonna be fascinating.
Speaker 1 (38:32):

I hope you had a great Thursday night. Let's have
a great weekend. Let's get into it. I don't want
to talk to any baseball right now. The Mets are
as awful as it gets, tied with your Yankees in
our Mets Yankees bet with forty games to go exactly,
they're tied equally awful, and they're atrocious like the hairline
(40:10):
of Scottie brocious. So good luck to your teams. We're
going to talk about what you need to watch this weekend.
We do it every Friday on our regular time again
five to seven on the East Weekend hob Nobin's what
we call it, weekend hobbin living for the weekend. We
let you know what you need to watch this weekend
(40:31):
in the world of sports and entertainment. Plus, we play
a game today, give it away prizes. Trying to get
back to you Chipotle worker or w NBA player. All
you have to do is guess all you have to
do is not lose and you win a prize. We'll
give away a cn arm their football get you ready
for the football season. But it's our way of getting
getting to know the WNBA a little more and saying
(40:53):
hi to Chipotle, trying to get some free discouncers. We
are also less than three weeks until the kickoff of
the NFL seasons, so maybe a little later. We discussed, like,
what's that random storyline you're looking forward to that no
one's really talking about, Like, what what is your vested interest? Like,
everyone's of course gonna be watching Aaron Rodgers on the Steelers.
(41:14):
Everyone's curious about you know, it's uh, cam Warden really
the most untalked about rookie in the last twenty five years.
So what is that storyline where you're like, no, no,
we got to think more about this. I'm asking on
the fly. Could it be about anything? Like things that
are pretty good that not enough people talk about. I
think that's a fantastic question. Broadening up a little bit,
we'll get to that. We'll talk about something called honey potting.
(41:38):
Do you know this that sounds tasty? I don't know
so yeah, man, stick around and find out. F around
and find out we got Iowa Sam on the ones
in two. Even if that's a new parenting style. You
brought this to my attention the other day. Everyone fo
fo it's the return of parents parenting. Tougher around and
(42:00):
find out. Yeah, it doesn't mean I'm gonna slap you
upside your head. Like my dad used to say, Hey,
it's not that. It means let them fail on their own.
So if like a kid's like, I'm not wearing a jacket,
he's like, all right, you don't want to bring a jacket,
then then hey, f around and find out, then don't
bring a jacket. Don't be complaining to me, Like that's
a great way of teaching them lessons. I'll I'll give
(42:21):
you a great f around, then find out a great
faffo as they call it fafo. In fact, I've changed
my name since reading this article and hearing about the trend,
Steve Faffo Covino. I thought it was l Faffo. El
Faffo is what they call me now, because especially when
you copare, it's very difficult. Richie, know what I did
(42:41):
just to prove that I walk the talk. School started
this week, and I told my daughter all week, Look,
if you want to go to the mall, get those
new pair of shoes, buy a few fits the back
to school drip. You want to go shopping, you want
to buy some trapper keepers, a pencil box, in a lunchbox,
(43:02):
whatever kids used today, trapper keeper. I'm like, be ready
by one o'clock and yeah, we'll go. Not a problem.
Dad wants to do nice things for you. Dude, I
show up three hours late. And not only that, the
teenage attitude she gave me that day. She basically told
(43:24):
me to beat it. Was giving me all this lip
and side eye. You have no idea, like, well some
of you might. She's a teenage girl. And I was like,
you know what, fuffo. I was like, she's not ready.
She's talking to me like I'm nobody from Nowhereville, so
you know what not happening. I drove it right to
her mom's house. That was it. She's like, Dad, I
(43:44):
thought we were going to the wall, like you don't wrong,
drove away and I was like, there's a new faffo
in town. L fuffo, f rout and find out, dude,
you'll disrespect me and my time and everything else. I'm
not on your watch. I got things to do. I
give you a time to be ready. Disrespected. It had
(44:05):
me waiting around like an idiot. You talk back to
me like I was a chump. What am I chump?
I mean your dad fafo. Man, this happens in sports,
and it hurts. I felt back, so I wanted to
take her. She went to school with holes in her shoes.
I uh, wow, not really, but you know what I mean.
You don't need to tie everything to sports, but I
feel that way. When yesterday the Mets could I single
(44:30):
was cruising ninety pitches and they took them out. And
when they took them out, the minute they were going
to the bullpen, in my mind I was like, bullpens
thinks right now, FAFA we got We're gonna f around
the fire. Mets give up the lead, lose the game. Yeah,
it doesn't mean you you pull out the switch, doesn't
mean you beat your kid, doesn't mean you slap them
(44:53):
up side the head. It doesn't mean you give them
a knuckle sandwich or whatever threat you got. It means
if they think they got all the answer and they're
not gonna eat because they're not hungry. Well, don't eat,
but don't ask me anything for anything. Later, run and
find out. I'll give you one last one to wrap
it up, and we'll talk some NFL and some nonsense.
(45:13):
My son, he's five years old. Every time he puts
on his stupid little CrOx like, buddy, if you're gonna
run around the block and downhill, put on your sneakers. Don't. Hey, buddy,
boy Benny, don't run in those. I'm gonna find that.
I see my kid running down our hill. We live
(45:35):
sort of on a little hill. It's a Benny hill.
He's got his name is Ben, He's got his little
crocks on, and I'm like, this little effort is gonna fall,
and what do you know? It falls, skins his knee.
But I hate to see it. But but you know
what foo as Alice in chains said a lesson, learn
(45:56):
bro lesson learned fa fo. Yeah you okay, buddy, what
did that tell you? What did that tell you? It's
like the Yankees. You already made this reference, though, Rich,
but keep putting in, Devin Williams, just keep putting them in. Yeah,
it's like my two year old code.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
He didn't want to be locked in his car seat,
so we roped them up on top of the suitcase.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
Yeah, exactly, that's exactly it, Danny G. But no, it's true.
It applies to everything. And I and I think parenting
is the number one time where it's like, you know, what,
go ahead, do it? Or relationships? Right, how many times
has a woman been like, that's what you want to do? Okay?
When she's like when she says okay, fine, you're like,
(46:37):
oh oh oh, it's just letting them fail. That being
said because of their stubbornness or because they think they're right,
but you know, otherwise as an adult. That being said,
we wish all the kiddos a great school year. Back
to school this week on the West Side. But we
got to talk Lebron James. I know some people hate
talking Lebron James. Some people love to just on Lebron James.
(47:01):
I think Lebron James doesn't really we're not so much
talking about Lebron. He's sort of what we call the
jump off to this conversation because on social media, Danny
G hit us up with a video and my goodness,
the comments prove how moronic people are. Spot I want
spot our video guy to be on standby for this one,
(47:22):
because I think he's gonna have a thing or two
to say to you, especially rich about it. Spot, for
the record, is a guy that turned his life around.
He's now a gym rat. He had never gone to
the gym ever in our twenty years of knowing him,
and then all of a sudden he had a health
scare and now he's mister fitness, mister Olympia. Some good
body ripped like Jesus. So beyond standby. Spot's also on
(47:48):
the videos as we speak. Lebron James is a Jim rat.
Sixteen they say, sixteen hour sessions right, oh me, Yeah,
he does long days.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
In the headline, which was trendings this morning, says Lebron's
workout form ignites online.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
Debate, online debate. Recent online discussion erupted after users critique
Lebron James workout while lifting. He's doing like dead lifts.
But again, he looks like a specimen. We know his resume,
we know his resume, we know how physically fit he is.
He comes conditioned every year. People are questioning if this
(48:26):
is the way to go, if it's suitable for his
athletic build Lebron, who's set to enter his twenty third
season in the NBA, has been defended by many who
point out his long standing career. Dude, can you repeat
that his twenty three year career twenty season? Yeah, and
some fat Jabbroni on Twitter is criticizing how he works out.
(48:49):
You mean a guy that stayed relatively healthy for two
plus decades in the NBA, a multiple time MVP, a
guy that's won NBA titles with multiple teams, arguably the
goat other than Jordan in most people's minds. You are
going to criticize his work out. So I'm not saying
you this the collective. You come on, you, Darvish. So
(49:11):
what we're getting at is you got one side saying, well, clearly,
whatever he's doing is working. The proof is in the
longevity and his physical abilities, the absolute peak of athleticism.
And then you have a bunch of jim rats or
know it alls, and again it's Denzel Washington says, we'll
(49:32):
talk about that later. Everybody has an opinion. They're critiquing
his technique, saying he's not doing it right, and he's
a drone and he's an idiot, and look how he
lifts and he's gonna hurt himself and how do you
get results something like that. It's like, I don't know,
he's done it for twenty three years. To me, so
whether you like him or not, how could you make
fun of a guy who has these results regardless of
(49:55):
the form. There are so many examples of where know
it alls put their two cents in and you're like,
you're gonna you're gonna criticize. I've seen funny videos where
like random dudes start giving golf swing advice to female
professional golfers. It's like, hey, sweetheall, you're backswing. It's like
(50:16):
she's a pro, you dope. So I have another example,
all right, But I want people to put their thinking
hats on their thinking camps based on this Lebron criticism,
which again is so easy to want to criticize him
because he's such a polarizing guy. I get that, But
(50:36):
can you really critique somebody if they look better than
you or if it just works for them when it
comes to their workout? Because I know Rich, you often
get criticized by guys like Spot. I joke about it.
I say, you do a bunny boy workout? Rich does
the pee Wee Herman workout where he just you know,
(50:58):
he wakes up in the morning he picks up two
like two pound weights and you're like, no, I okay, listen,
good morning, mister Crabtree. I look at it this way.
When I see people my age, I see so many
people in their forties tearing a peck. Oh I pulled
my shoulder, my knee. You know, you hit middle aged,
(51:22):
and so many people, you know, get these unnecessary gym injuries,
which is why you know what I do now. I've
given up heavy free weights. I'm on machines. I'm lifting
lighter weights. I mean, guess what, in fairness though, you've
been on this routine for a long time, and I'm
with you. I'm not here trying to hurt myself. I'm not.
I'm trying to maintain and uh just look the best
(51:45):
that I can. I'm not trying to be a getting
mister Universe. I'm not trying to be a powerlifter. I'm
not trying to be Derek Poundstone, and I'm not trying
to be a strong man. And guys like our video
producer Spot He's like, oh, you don't really work out
the right way. Meanwhile, this guy's had shoulder surgeries, knee surgeries, oh.
Speaker 10 (52:03):
You know, you name it. The guy's always limping around.
How you're just making things up to suit your point.
I never had a knee surgery.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
The other day, were you not limping around with both
legs and you were like visibly in the studio like, oh,
I never had surgery on it.
Speaker 10 (52:19):
So you shoulder though spot for wrestles people, But that
had nothing to do with working out. That was hurting
before I started working out.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
So can you really critique somebody about your point about
their workout or anything in life if they're doing better?
Like if some guy I have a friend that's broke,
that tries to get and tries to get financial advice.
I was just gonna say that, but like I know,
people get real but hurt when you talk about their
finances and call them out for being broken. Does a
(52:47):
guy I know that constantly talks about all the money
moves he's making. I'm like, what do you try? Why
do you try? With nineteen ninety eight civic that was
true man or. I was recently criticized. I went to
you know, several places for vacation, Like why would you
go there? Like Why would I go there? You know,
I got criticized because I chose Costa Rica recently and
(53:08):
like like Costa Rica some family members, I'm like, why
would you go there? Like you go nowhere? How could you?
I mean, have you have you ever been there? You
go to the Pokemon No, but you've never been there,
So how could you criticize the place? I just went through?
And I'm telling you it's great? You know. So the
example I was going to give was, I call this
(53:30):
to Tom Brady. What's happening to Lebron right now? I'm
calling the TB because there's a clip. We'll never find it. Sam.
You could search the internet forever, we'd never find it. Well,
it's like that photo in your phone. You see it
all the time, but when you're looking for it, you
can't find it. Oh that clip is out there, but
now that you'd look for it, you can't find that's
(53:51):
a crazy phenomenon to By the way, a picture on
your phone you know you have mm hmm, can never
find can never find it when you need it. Oh,
we run it in the backyard. Now let me show
you the before picture. I mean, I know I have
the before picture. Why do I not wear. And then
sometimes you're able to find it. And here's the weird
part of the phenomenon. The one time you're able to
find let's say that picture or the clip, it doesn't play.
(54:14):
How many times you find a YouTube clip, you're like,
you gotta see this. And that's when it's loading, and
it's like, and do we not have LiFi? What's going on? Wait?
Hold on, I can't believe it's not playing stand by,
it's about to play. It's about to play. The world
does not want me to have this right now. I
don't know what that. I don't know what that phenomenon is.
You'll just accept it. Oh, it's without a doubt. You
tried the minute you like. I call it the cavino
(54:37):
because it happens to me all the time. Happened to
me just the other day. I told one of the dads,
like a little back to school thing, like, Yo, did
you see the Otani triple play? No? I missed it.
I'm like, Yo, you gotta see this. Of course at
that point, at that moment, isn't that a breakfast here
at Denny's? Oh? The Altai triple play?
Speaker 9 (54:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Only in Los Angeles. The rest of you guys are
missing out. Totti triple play comes with a take it
and saucle yeah and ham I called the Brady will
never find this clip. But back in the day when Tom,
you know, before he chose football over his family, there
was a time he came to a postgame press conference
(55:16):
and he was wearing some really stylish sweater that could
obviously Giselle had bought for him, had purchased for him.
He gets up to the podium and he looks like
damn Derek Zulander. He looks like, uh, oh, you nailed that.
His hair was all spiky. I remember it was the
hair and it really I know, it's hard being so
ridiculous that he good looking. He shows up like handsome
(55:38):
squid word. He looked like the handsome squid word with
a Zulander alphed on and he really did. And some
with all due respect, some fat reporter in a polo
shirt with a lanyard around his neck, don't say that,
say Fatso, it's coming back. Oh Fatso. Yeah, it has
a different, like lighter ring to it. Some fatso with
(56:00):
a polo shirt with the buttons were popping open in
the top with a lanyard around his neck with a
comb over, was like Tom whoops with the sweater and
Tom Brady just goes. I quote Tom Brady. He didn't
say anything, he just goes. And that haha was a
you're criticizing me, He's like you. And I just remember
(56:24):
the guy criticized Brady sweaterdy Braddy looked at him and
gave a little He gave him a Kawhi Leonard, And
I think I think for anyone criticizing the workout routine
of Lebron James, he should give the world the Tom Brady. Yeah,
(56:45):
you could critique anything else, his work ethic, his sixteen
hour day gym sessions, his form, it doesn't matter. Whatever
he's doing is working, not only on the court. But
he's in great shape, right, I mean, he looks fantastic
(57:09):
for his age, for anybody. So maybe his form isn't
correct for again, a powerlifter or a gym rat or whatever.
But whatever he's doing, you know, he knows his limits.
He's a professional athlete. The people criticizing him probably not.
I always find it interesting. I don't think we could
(57:29):
ever criticize someone that is super successful at that, Like
it's odd to me, Like you again, it's like, but
we all sort of do that in a way, right,
And that's why, Honestly, I think that's what separates our
show from other shows. I think we always factor in
like I might not be a fan of this guy
or frustrated with this person, but they're still way better
(57:52):
at this game than we were. I can hate the Mets. Yeah,
we're just fans. And I think that's what separates this show.
There's so many people that criticized from the sideline, and
it's it's it's a wild thing that people need to
keep in mind. Is perspective that needs to change a
little bit. It's like, really, you're criticizing them, think about that.
(58:14):
We've all seen the In fact, that's what Denzel Washington's
man abount and won't play that clip later on. We've
we've all seen. Oh, the word fatso is in style now, right,
Uh kind of?
Speaker 5 (58:23):
I hear.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
I hear fatso. It's like a dirty word because it
is it's mean, but fat fat so feels a little
lighter than you're just fat, And I hear it used
a lot more recently, Bran, you have in the past
like five plus years. Bring him back fatso? Well, how
about this. How about some fatso watching like I gotta
know the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Netflix show and criticizing them
(58:49):
America's Sweetheart. Yeah, some some dude that is using his
belly button for cheese dip while he sit on the couch. Fatso, like,
cut down these women. Look yeah, she's all right, Yeah,
she's all right. It's like seeing you're not attractive friend
swiping on Tinder or bumble or something and you're like,
(59:09):
you're you're saying no to her. You should say yes
to any I think it's just Lebron's a polarizing guy,
so no matter what he does is gonna get criticized.
And the latest if you just joined us Covino and
rich In for Dan Patrick, Yeah, a lot of things
he does is worthy of criticism. The way he flops,
(59:29):
you could talk about the way he handled the Brownie
James thing, anything, the way he reads, the way he reads.
He read every book exactly. Yeah, there's plenty of things
to criticize. But the latest was his form and his
technique at the gym. And look at this guy. Everything
he's doing is wrong, And can you really critique if
(59:51):
someone looks better and it works for them. Like what
I'm thinking too when I'm watching him, Like deadlift is
all right, maybe his worms not right, but he knows
that if he pushes any further, that's how he might
hurt himself. Like this is just enough for me, Like
doing this works for me. Like people know their own
people at that level, especially know their own body. So
(01:00:15):
have you ever seen those memes like work out for
what you do and you see someone at the gym,
You're like, what are they doing? And what's that Olympics
about curling? And someone that just down on the floor
doing this one motion and you're like, what are they
work it out to do? And you're like, oh, they're there, Yeah,
that's what they do. Workout where you do. Lebron James
clearly knows how to work out what you're shooting for Himah,
(01:00:35):
Like we brought up our buddy spot who if it
wasn't six something in the morning on the West Coast,
he'd probably be debating with you. But he's lifting to
get strong and for strength in a lot of ways,
you know, rich lifts for what are they called glamor muscles?
What do we call them? Like just to look good
in a T shirt? Yeah, just don't. Just don't. So
(01:00:58):
he's and I'm building. I'm trying to a lighter ooh, oh,
you don't even know what he said. He said, when's
that gonna happen? Do you mean the guy that didn't
do a thing for thirty five years then all of
a sudden he's slim, good buddy, You mean the guy
who learned more in two years than you learned your
whole life to me and the guy who's always injured
(01:01:19):
hobbling around the studio.
Speaker 10 (01:01:20):
Because that's your go to because you don't understand what
working out is.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Wow, you can try all you want, but you won't
beat me in a rabbit. You'll play with your five
pound dumbells. I'm sure the women will lend them to you,
the pee Wee Herman Edition signature series. I do. I
do fight the women at the gym for those small ways. Yeah,
Rich does use pink dumbbells. They're cuter. Which is that
(01:01:44):
pink bullet? Yeah? Has that five pound bulling multing. So
can you critique someone about their workouts? If they're in
better shape, if they look better and if it works
for them, who cares? Beat it? Mind your business? Him
sixteen hours a day. They say sixteen hour sessions, which
sounds insane. But it's got to be something to what
(01:02:07):
he's doing to last this long at that level. So
maybe we should take a page from the lebron book
that he never reads, and instead of criticizing him, say hey,
maybe this works. Yep, No, they're getting no doubt. All right, listen,
we're gonna get you a bunch. There's there's a big
rivalry that. By the way, can you tell me spot
(01:02:28):
what he's doing wrong before you move on? Why are
you asking? Because we're showing the clip on our YouTube page.
Another reason to check us out YouTube dot com, slash
at Covino and rich FSR. He's he's doing these deadlifts,
but like, I'm no uh, John based out I'm no
John based out there, So I'm not seeing what the
(01:02:48):
problem is. It's everyone thinks they know everything.
Speaker 10 (01:02:51):
It's I mean, he I wouldn't begin to know because
I don't know exactly what his intention is exactly, because
he's doing something between a dead lift than a Romanian deadlift.
He's yanking up the wave. Is that this war helmet
his lower back is a little bit too arched. You
could argue, I don't know, there's I mean, if you
(01:03:12):
really have to go in and critique every little thing, but.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Then you look at him, look at his lean muscle mass.
He's all right, So it's like, why do you look
like Lebrono? Then shut up the end, that's really it,
And that's like, I don't know we should name this
shut up then so shut up Fatso called shut up Fatso,
shut up Fatso. I'm gonna pull shut up Fatso on
(01:03:36):
you
