I'm Anna Sinfield and this is the Girlfriend's Spotlight, where
each week we bring you a new story of women winning.
I want to introduce you to some incredible women. First,
there's Tracy. When she broke up with her abusive X,
she thought it was the last time she'd ever have
to see him, but then he broke into her bedroom

wielding a gun.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I remember that feeling of my heart falling out of
my chest, like, okay, this is how I die.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Then there's Lunne, who was raised in a secretive religious community.
Age just fifteen, she was trapped in an incestuous marriage.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I just that, if I'm going to heaven, why is
everybody else so much happier than I am?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
And here's June, an incredible musician who faced sexism and
snide remarks wherever she turned. You were an all girl band.
I mean, how are people reacting to you?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Mad?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Very well? Not very well at all. I mean the
whole world was against us.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
No doubt. These women have faced some tough situations in
their lives. They're fought fear and injustice. But these stories
are about fighters, survivors and outright badasses. Tracy created light
from the darkness.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I want to take over the world and just leave
this place better than I found it and.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Made her Paralympic dreams come true.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Happiness and bliss doesn't cover it.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Luanne found a path to freedom.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
When she said, you know you can leave right It
was a light bull.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
And June well, she just showed the haters whose boss.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
They all jumped out to their tables and stamped their feet,
clapping and yelling more and more and more. It was
complete the pandemonium.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
And toured the world with her all girl rock band.
